[Live Chat Update!] What the Hell? What’s Up With This Passive, Servile, Hat-In-Hand Bowing and Scraping!

UPDATE: JOIN our LIVE RANT CHAT TONIGHT AT 9:15 P.M. ET! BRING A PREPARED RANT, OR RANT ON THE FLY!

…………………………………………………………

If you’re going to bow that far downward, President Obama, why not scrape the floor as well? What is up with all of this slavish, subservient, and submissive behavior? (H/ts PM317 and Andy.) Just as with the G20 group photo yesterday, in which a passive Obama allowed himself to end up in the second row, off-center, instead of seated next to Queen Elizabeth, where Brazil’s Lula sat. Appearances matter. The inherent symbolism matters. Well, apparently not to Mr. Obama.

BRITAIN G20 PALACE

Ultimately, my judgment of other people boils down to this question: “Would I want this person in a fox hole with me, as bullets fly overhead?” I would not invite Mr. Obama into the foxhole. While the rest of us would be on “high alert,” he’d lie down and fiddle with his iPod, listening to Jay-Z, instead of keeping his ears alert for any sounds of footsteps or bullets whizzing by closer and closer.

Here’s a video that Andy discovered that fleetingly shows the mortifying bow:

As a PROUD American who still sees our nation’s position as the “leader of the free world,” I am shocked that President Obama seems to go out of his way to depict our nation, as its top global representative, to be a second-class, has-been nation.

President Obama is making us look WEAK and quite VULNERABLE.

Did he buy into Fareed Zakaria’s premise in the title of his book, The Post-American World, which bloggers discovered in this photograph and posted widely during the election campaign?

Here’s a substantive CNBC discussion on the issues to be brought up during meeting between President Obama and King Abdullah, with former Saudi ambassador Richard Murphy, now with the Council on Foreign Relations, and Mohsin Kahn, a Peterson Institute Senior Fellow. Those issues include Iran, of course, and the U.S.’s Iraq exit strategy.

  • I’mFedUp

During the election, when I saw OFraudo reading that book…The Post-American World…I knew what was coming. Look, he’s not one of us, he never said he was. He hates America and has no respect for our symbols, traditions, etc. He should have been out of the race when Reverend God Damn America spewed his filth, but we had to continually be assaulted with all of the reasons that voting for Obama = Destroying America and the Bots didn’t listen. 2010 Can’t come fast enough, and if we can’t impeach the Fraud then 2012 will hopefully see the end of this mentally deranged group of America haters in Congress and the White House. The only way we survive is when Pelousy and the Fraud are gone. Period.

    • barry bums a ciggie

All that one had to do is look at the video during the primary where he wouldn’t put his hand over his heart for our National Anthem. He literally was in his own world, rocking back and forth on his heels and not even phased by the words and the significance behind it our respect for that song…he just looked like he was thinking “wonder if I can get some hoop time in today.” It was a telltale sign. The Chinese are totally playing the “parental” role now, and they will continue to make us look weak with 0zero behind the wheel.

    • ME

I’m right with you…I felt and feel even more so today that he’s a TROJAN HORSE of our enemies. His and his wife’s childhood dreams have obviously been to dismantle America as thoroughly as possible…and here we go!

    • KmX

Bowing is a no no in Saudi Arabia. The KIng Ban it many years ago.

“Kissing hands is alien to our values and morals, and is not accepted by free and noble souls…It also leads to bowing, which is a violation of God’s law. The faithful bow to no one but God.”

      http://articles.latimes.com/2005/sep/12/world/fg-briefs12

      • Retired

Sorry, Obama and his staff didn’t get that memo.

      • bill

Did he bow to the Queen? If not why only the Saudi King? Giving thanks for tuition payments?

        • lorac

Might have something to do with his inherent misogyny.

        • C.S.

When Michelle rushed into the room to meet the Queen I knew protocol lessons didn’t stick. Looked like a couple of awed children dashing around trying to get a photo with the celebrity host by shoving the old guy out of the way.

But then, with all those equal world leaders milling around that reception, he chooses the same Saudi leaders that Mr. Bush did to be obsequious to! This was no accidental protocol gaff. And if anyone thinks it is, review any president meeting foreign leaders to find another U. S. president bowing that far down to anyone. It doesn’t take a body language expert to read the signals the guy called Obama is sending; he’s in awe of this Saudi guy who has never been our friend. And if he did this all for oil, I suggest he go bow down to “oil rich” Alaskan Governor Palin instead.

Seems as if the Soertoro/Obama guy doesn’t care that the majority of the 9/11 highjackers came into the U. S. on visas issued by the Saudis.

  • James

Obama isn’t the only one to suck up to these ME oil rich leaders. Look at the Bush’s!

    • beebop

uh … the difference is that shrub and clan made no secret of the fact, right? 0bama barely nods to the Queen and scrapes the floor for that guy? hmmmmmmm That will make a great picture for the 2010 campaign. I can’t wait!!!

      • I’mFedUp

They are his family, that’s why.

        • Lyn

and they paid for him to go to Harvard

        • NotHalf

Why do you hate America AlexisM?

      • Ferd Berfle

Yep Bush and the Carlyle Group is no secret. That One, on the other hand, says one thing and does another. I can stomach a Bush, who does stupid things while saying he is going to do stupid things. On the other hand, I despise That One who says one thing and then does a stupid thing.

      • Ellen

barely nods to the queen? where do you get this stuff? only for you lowlifes here on no quarter would this be a story of scorn.
someone on another board just said’ wait until fox and that gang see this-the rants will begin’ and, sure enough, leave it to you guys.

        • andrew191

I take GREAT exception to being labelled a lowlife, it’s been a difficult lifelong struggle for me just to rise to the level of scum. Then YOU come along and raise the bar by essentially calling me a lowlife. How DARE you try to catapult me into the lofty realm of lowlifes! How will I cope in such an alien world? Have you no shame?

        • C.S.

Then I assume “lowlife” Ellen is either not a citizen or she no longer believes in Our Constitution; replacing it with adulation for her chosen messiah. Only someone who has no loyalty to country would not take offense at Soertoro/Obama choosing from all those leaders present to bow so deeply to the head of a country who has never been a friend and does not share our human rights agenda. We the People bow to no monarch and no religion and any representative of our government that can’t comply doesn’t need to represent We the People.

    • Jim S

Sorry but it’s apples and oranges. Bush and the Saudi king held hands while walking, something that is a sign of friendship and extremely common in middle eastern and Asian countries. Bowing, kissing of a ring or even more serious, placing the forehead on the ring is a sign of the highest form of pledging fealty. The President of the United States cannot serve two masters. IMPEACH HIM!

  • Ginger

The sheik is a man, baby!

    Remember their slogan?
    Bros make better hoes.

Saw that and passed it along!

    • http://thenewagenda.net/ Woman Voter

At first I was buying the bit about the miss steps in the protocol with Queen Elizabeth, by both Barrack Obama and Michelle Obama. Upon seeing him bow before King Abdullah, is now clear that had it been KING Edward of England, protocol would have been followed by both of them.

I continue to hope things will improve, but I think I am only setting myself up for disappointment, especially after learning about his appointee Harold Koh, who is pro Sharia Law.

The DNC has helped to not only set US women back decades, but also women around the world. :-(

      • beebop

Watching that video without sound, it looked like MEMEMEchelle was checking to make sure the Queen was wearing a bra …. lol

        • FrenchNail

The truth totally excape the MSM. The Queen was perfectly aware that what Meeechelle has just done by putting her arm around her, was going to be a front pager. The Queen’s job has Constitutional Monarch is to facilitate the policies of her country, not to create a International incident, so she rolled with the punches briefly reciprocating the gesture to reduce the impact of the faux pas.

BUT DO NOT CONFUSE EDUCATION WITH FRIENDSHIP.

I would have given a lot to hear the private comments she exchanged with her husband later on on the matter.

  • Jonathan

    boring

    you’re whining now.

  • Docelder

Did he buy into Fareed Zakaria’s premise

The truth may be worse than that. In that book, I believe is where Obama got his infamous “Iran is a tiny country… they are no threat to us” line. The book also downplays to an extent the threat from terrorism. The worst of it is “The One” may form his opinion on a subject by whatever has his attention at the moment. Think about that.

  • JB

I tried to listen to his speech, but hearing “Uhh” after every third word became very irritating. Now this? For someone who appeared so arrogant during the entire Primary, he now appears not to have the self-confidence needed to speak on a world stage.
    I miss Bill and Hill.

    • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

I’m listening to the press conference — via my DVR. It’s painful. Uh oh — he said two more questions. I’m fast-forwarding. Can’t take it any more.

      • JB

Ugh! I know. Thanks for posting the pic and the pic of him holding Fareed Zakaria’s book during the Primary days. Speaks volumes.

      • andrew191

You should pay attention. I was rather sleepy when I watched it live, but I’m pretty sure that he twice said that he wanted to “Reduce nuclear non-proliferation”. Is it just me, or isn’t that a double negative? I’m sure Bush would not have escaped media wide ridicule for such an obvious gaffe.

When he was asked what advice he would give to the American public to cope with the financial crisis, his answer went on for so long that it was clearly apparent that he had eventually forgotten the question.

Although my face was buried in my hands out of a combination of disgust and embarrassment, I couldn’t resist peeking through my fingers to watch that train wreck. I think it’s more than coincidence that I haven’t seen it replayed anywhere. The media may be starting to realize that we can no longer stomach a steady “Diet of WORMs”.

        • Ferd Berfle

          “Reduce nuclear non-proliferation”.

Wow, his teleprompter must have taken the day off. Taking that statement at face value, he is saying i that he is going to increase proliferation.

Hey, let’s throw some more gasoline on the inferno, shall we?

  • pm317

OK, I am losing hope of doing any permanent good in Afghanistan. I wrote a post on Saudis couple of weeks ago and their meddling in US plans for Afghanistan. Now with our wimp in chief Obama schmoozing with these fxxking sexist pigs, there won’t be a definitive resolution to the menace called Taliban and Al-Qaeda. I hope I am wrong.

    • Docelder

won’t be a definitive resolution to the menace called Taliban and Al-Qaeda

It is worse than that, we no longer consider them a menace at all. We will simply conclude they are children “acting out” and we are going to show them some quality attention time and give them some candy and lots of hugs. Who’s your daddy?

      • pm317

Yea, lots of love and respect..

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte

At least we now have a clear shot of where Obama’s brain really is…

  • John James

    LOL, great article Susan!

  • Lisabona

I was so surprised when I saw LULA in a first row near Queen Elizabeth and Obama in a second row, like a second class nation. It’s any difference between Lula the shoe maker and Obama the organizer? The picture proved , no difference.

  • Peggy Sue

What “is” Obama doing in that picture? He looks like he’s getting ready to kiss his ring. Or fall to one knee.

Hello, hello, this is not the Pope, Mr. Prez.

But the men standing to his left and right are looking down, too, which makes me think this is something other than a bow.

At least, I hope that’s the case. But jeeze, what an odd photograph.

    • andrew191

The Saudi King was obviously wearing shoe mirrors (that jokester), and when 0bama saw his own refletion, he couldn’t resist bowing to get a better look at himself. Look at the picture again, it explains the whole situation.

      • Peggy Sue

Now “that’s” funny! And, of course, it makes it perfectly clear. Shoe mirrors.

        {I’m still laughing}

        • http://noquarter foxyladi14

he is getting the missus one of them thar rings..just looking man…..

      • oowawa

Andrew, I think you are absolutely correct–that explains it. At first I thouht he was just bowing low so that he could kiss the King’s ring.

    • ziggy

Maybe Obama just fell victim to King Abdullah’s customary joke: “Eh! Barack! Pull my finger!” Because the King is the King, the man on the right who is holding one leg in the air is responsible for delivering the punch line.

      Hey, it’s a theory.

      • andrew191

OK ziggy, that got you momentarily off my hit list.

      • oowawa

Ziggy, you win the Weisenheimer Of the Day award for that one!

    • Hope Change and Unicorns

“But the men standing to his left and right are looking down, too, which makes me think this is something other than a bow.”

      Waiting for their BOjob..

      • oowawa

What a smutty, nasty remark! I like it!

      • BlueTopaz

        “Waiting for their BOjob”

        Brilliant!

Too bad we’re all going to get a very bad BOjob.

    • pm317

But the men standing to his left and right are looking down, too, which makes me think this is something other than a bow.

Not true. Catch it in the video at 1:38, he approached the Saudi with hand stretched out and as he shook the hands he is bowing.

      • Lyn

AND it wasn’t even the simple bend at your waist bow, he put his one leg back behind him.

      • Peggy Sue

To my astonisment and dismay, pm, I found another view of this shot. He is indeed bowing. I always thought Bush strolling around the rose garden, arm-in-arm, with the Saudi King was “strange.”

But this? This take’s the prize.

Still, I like Andrew’s explanation: shoe mirrors.

At least it made me laugh.

But this? It makes me extremely angry!

    • Elizabeth

I think he is attempting a ring kiss. There was more Youtube footage earlier, not sure if it’s still up or not, with the king’s hand extended and Obama bent over into something between a bow and a curtsey. Another visiting dignitary probably decided to save us the embarrassment by blocking a full view.

But geez, this is bad enough. How gross and disgusting. The very image of American submission to Islamic rule.

    • rw

I saw the video of the sitting process and, no, there is nothing there other than a bow of subservience and obedience…..’cause in 2005 Saudi King Abdullah banned bowing and kissing: video on the Michelle Malkin site and read post# 110.

        • Hope Change and Unicorns

Yes it is totally amazing. I know he has staff that tries to brief him on protocol. Does he listen? or care? Is he trying to send a message to the British that he will stand with the Muslims like he said in his autobiography?

    • Andy

      skinny malinky :

Small and insignificant?? Look at his arse!! That’s a full waiste bow down: incredibly submissive and outrageous for a POTUS to do with any Monarch.

This bow to the Saudi Prince is something ELSE entirely…

Yes, so-o-o insignificant, Skinny. And I guess you buy into all this transnational nonsense. Let’s think back: where did the men who flew the planes into the World Trade Center hail from???

Saudi Arabia! So, yes please, let’s bow for the United States of America. Maybe they won’t do it again if we’re nice and totally subservient. Maybe the Islamists will promise not to hurt us if we have our own president prostrate himself to the King of Kings.

You want the President of the United States to act like a damn serf?

      Well, excuse me. I don’t.

    • WMCB

Oh, puhleeeze. When Bush had his hand-in-hand romp in the fields with the Saudi King, it was all over the progressive blogs FOREVER.

I know, because I was ON those blogs, and jeered at it. So don’t come here and pull your double standard shit. I’m at least consistent – I call it out whether a Repub OR a Dem does it.

      You? Not so much. Hypocrite.

Didn’t a Saudi Prince pay for Barky to go to Harvard? I guess Obama was thinking him for the college education even tho Michelle whined they just paid off their college bills.

    • I’mFedUp

  • EWard

    I’mFedUp

Amen to your post! You are so right, Obama hates America. The Obama hacks in the MSM need to be fired too. Tina Brown is delusional. She had the nerve to say that Carla Sarkozy stayed home because she would have been overshadowed by MO. MO cannot hold a candle to Carla. MO has no class and she’s mean! The rest of the country is suffering and MO brings along 8 personal assistants for hair, makeup, clothes, etc. Their actions remind me of third world dictators.

The Obama hacks in the MSM need to be kicked out of their profession once Obama is impeached. Instead of hearing about the tea parties, the braindead press is writing about MO’s arms and icky clothes.

    Impeach Obama!!!

    • tango

I really doubt that Carla Bruni is afraid of Michelle Obama. I expect Mrs. Sarkozy visits Britain enough that she didn’t feel the need to tag along because it’s no big deal. It also should be pointed out that she could be showing respect by allowing Michelle her moment in the sun rather then forcing her to share the spotlight. Also, the Obamas are visiting France too on this trip so it’s only reasonable for Mrs. Sarkozy to meet them then.

      • lorac

They said on the news that she doesn’t usually travel with him for his business trips.

    • Lisabona

Or maybe Carla stayed home because she didn’t want to embarass MO. Don’t evan compare Carla with MO. It’s like compare the sky with the earth.

    • I’mFedUp

EWard…They are ridiculous and we look like morons. But, really, would you WANT to see MeChelle without the 8 people making her look presentable?

As for Carla Bruni staying home? She was the smart and lucky one.

      • Peggy Sue

Hahahaha. And “some are saying the bottom has been plumbed.” The “some” saying that are the one’s too drunk on koolaid to even suspect the con game that’s being played.

Did the stock market go up today? Yes. But wait!!! We have another astonishing coincidence. The banks were given “new accounting rules” to value their toxic [oh excuse me] “legacy” assets.

Ever hear of smoke and mirrors? The new accounting rules is just another lie to top all the other lies. You like fiction writing? That’s what new accounting rules are akin to. Make up a story with a happy face, hope the citizenry doesn’t catch on, and sing la-la-la all the way to the cash till.

Was Bush a bad president? Yes, I think he was.

But Barack Obama? He’s going for the gold. Gotta hand it to him. Less than 100 days and he’s coming in for the mega-win.

And please, don’t try telling anyone at this site to read or listen. We’re very well informed. Depressingly so.

Go back to Kos. You’ll be given a rousing cheer in the Land of “O”.

      • Ferd Berfle

The Dow was up another 200 points today

And you think That One had anything to do with it, rube? (Hint: post hoc, ergo propter hoc) I could just as easily say that the reason it was up was that it was Thursday, April 2 2009 and make as much sense as you do, 10-watter.

      • Karma

Psst….Most people here think that Obama is Bush 2.0. You aren’t winning any arguments slamming Bush…LOL…you are just proving their points.

In case you have forgotten, Obama is using the Bush template for many of his programs.

And…LOL..200 points on the Dow? In this market? Talk to me tomorrow or next month or even when it finally breaks 10,000 like it was at the end of last century…lol.

You do realize the DOW is only 30 companies?

Though how do you explain it losing nearly half of it’s value since it was certain Obama would win? If we are giving out Obama-props let’s place them in the proper context.

Yes, and everyone there thought Bush was drunk. Some even called it sexual harassment. Just because it doesn’t get much media attention in the U. S. doesn’t mean it’s ignored elsewhere.

Same with this “Obama” faux pas of this groveling bow by a United States leader; we may play it down here but our enemies are going to say it shows our weakness and that “Obama” is under Saudi influence.

    • James Guglielmino

HA. You should have half the intelligence of this brilliant and graceful woman. In one line you cretins criticize Obama for not demanding and EXPECTING that he be in front. On another, you bitch about him not treating “royalty” properly. Get your stories right, then we can argue about them.

The photo of MicHELLe slurping her tea was enough to bust the graceful and intelligent myth.

Michelle is not graceful. Michelle is not grateful. Michelle is not intelligent.

            Re-program yourselves, bots.

And yes, the vision of shoplifter Michelle is hysterical and much more on the mark.

She could have played for Lombardi, I’m sure.

Did you forget not proud of America? And now representing it? If there’s any justice in this he left his US passport wherever he keeps things he doesn’t value and is carrying the one issued to him as a citizen of Pakistan.

      • Docelder

You should have half the intelligence of this brilliant and graceful woman.

I am not for picking on the first lady, but the point was made. Did you read her college thesis? Because it wasn’t exactly brilliant in its wording or conclusion. On a side note, Obama’s poetry wasn’t anything special either. I imagine his thesis would be quite interesting. It’s a shame that he and the college both “lost” it.

        • WMCB

Michelle’s thesis was a joke. I read the entire thing, and my high school aged daughter would not have turned that in for a 10th grade term paper.

I mean, it was baaaad. The grammar alone was atrocious.

          • Ferd Berfle

I read it, too. It was poorly written, poorly researched, and shabbily presented. In short, it was crap of the first order. I’ve seen better writing from college freshmen.

            • I’mFedUp

I don’t really give a crap what MeChelle looks like. She looks like Sigfried the Sea Hag to me, but then again Barbara Bush was no Giselle Bundchin either.

However, I will never accept that piece of garbage as my “First Lady.” She hates America, she’s a big ugly racist who hate “white bitches” and she should have been another reason this shameful nation voted againt the Fraud.

Her thesis isn’t worth wiping your azz with, and between MeChelle and Backtrack they’ve done nothing to deserve where they are. Nothing. And now they are putting stink and shame on America. Christ.

Actually I do have a problem with his name — I don’t know what his legal name is! Barry Dunham? Barack Hussein Obama, Jr? Barry Soertoro? Barry Obama? (I could go on.)

In our 230 plus years of living under a Constitution ratified by representatives of 13 colonies, we have never had a president whose legal name we did not know. We have more information about those past presidents than we have about this guy who was born in an era where every aspect of Our lives has been recorded, preserved and available to anyone from our schools, our employers to the FBI and IRS… and yet this guy claiming to be Barack Hussein Obama Has. No. Papertrail. That’s the problem I have with his name. His selection as a presidential candidate by the Democratic party stealing delegates for him…another matter entirely.

Rhetorical question, OBVIOUSLY. Second, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? Just in case you really haven’t considered it, you get respect and people follow you, not because you DEMAND respect and that they follow, but because you have earned that respect. We finally have a President we can be proud of. He doesn’t need to demand being in the middle, front.

    • Docelder

WHAT is wrong with him reading about what others have said is happening or should happen?

Reading would be good. Taking what the writer said as unqualified fact… that would be bad. Read the book, I listened to the audio of it. The book pretty much says verbatim that Iran is no threat to us, that they spend a small percentage on the military that we do. So, Obama reads that book and says “Iran is a tiny country, they are no threat to us”. Hmmm. Then the book says we are more likely to get killed in various other ways statistically than through terrorism… true enough. But plane crashes, car crashes etc. are unavoidable… terrorism is somewhat avoidable, at least we might try. We have a moral obligation to at least try. So, the problem isn’t that he reads, but it might be that he is impressionable. Totally a separate issue. When we read an opinion, we temper it against that which we already know to be fact. Let us hope that is the case with Obama… because we have no control over who has his ear.

      • politicalidentitycrisis

Reading would be good. it would be nice if the President and Congress read these very arge bills they signed into law before signing!

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte

    Oh PS. Jamaes G.

Name five bona fide things Obama has done that are worthy of respect.

    Compare your list to mine.

    1) Hidden all hidden personal records required of other presidents and presidential hopefuls and hired 22 lawyers to keep his health, birth certificate, and higher education records under wraps. This action has now triggered numerous lawsuits which several remain alive and before Justice Roberts of the SCOTUS.

    2) Launched a political career under the auspices of a known domestic terrorist by the name of William Ayers. The same William Ayers that was turned away at the Canadian Border and has recently been named in a press conference in San Francisco as a suspect in the early 1970′s killings of police officers.

    3) Attended for over 20 years a Black Theology based church that advocates the killing of whites and socialism. Was caught lying on national and international media sources about said attendance and involvement in church and about relationship with the Reverand J. Wright.

    4) Has had real estate dealings with one Tony Rezko, a now convicted felon. Used his office to grant jobs and political and financial favors to known felon AND was introduced to Auchi – a convicted middle eastern arms dealer through his association to Rezko. Was one of two politicians named in the opening statement of Rezko’s federal corruption trial as known associates of Mr. Rezko. The other politician was, the now impeached former governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich.

    5) Has initiated the biggest and most dangerous economic stimulus package that hinges on the philosophy of spending your way out of debt as a country. Has not be able to fill Treasury Department positions because no one wants to be instrumental in dismantling a whole country.

Yes, James G. Those are indeed things to be proud of. (Snark – for all the obots that don’t get it.)

    • jbjd

      6) On May 31, 2008, after spending 5 months and countless millions of dollars unsuccessfully trying to coerce HRC into relinquishing both the popular vote lead and the pledged delegate lead in the D Primary by dropping out, he worked in concert with other D Party operators to steal delegates awarded to her and to concoct delegates out of votes for “Uncommitted,” successfully making the contest between the two candidates appear closer than it actually was. In this way, he also successfully shifted attention away from the fact, he was buying Super Delegates, whose cast their votes for him in direct proportion to the amount of money he donated from funds he had received from the financial services industry, among others, into the various campaign coffers of these SD’s.

      • http://deleted Buzz Latte

  • Diana

He bowed before a king, but not the queen? I’m not going to condemn him for bowing before the King because I think that’s proper protocol. I’m pretty sure President Reagan, both President Sr. and Jr. Bush, and President Clinton also bowed before him. But, I will for not bowing before the Queen. Please tell me Michelle remembered to curtsy before the Queen? Or no? I do not see her curtsy in this video.

    • Lyn

No she didn’t curtsy, they both shook the Queens hand

      • Ferd Berfle

Those two clodhoppers can do nothing right. I’m awaiting the first international incident with one of them as the responsible party.

      • lorac

They both used both of their hands to shake her one. I don’t think that’s kosher.

    • Elizabeth

I’m quite certain I’ve never seen a gesture performed like that to any monarch, or foreign leader by a US President, other than the Pope.

      • Diana

If you do an image search you can find our past presidents bowing their heads, not a full bow like Obama did. So you’re correct I am wrong on that. But, they do bow their heads and then kiss him on the cheek, which I guess is custom? I really have no idea. They also don’t appear to do a full bow before the Queen it’s more of a half bow. We were always taught in school to males bow and females curtsy before royalty. They even made us practice even though we have no royalty in this country and 99% of us probably would/will never meet any. They give almost a full bow to the Pope, then kiss his hand. When I met one of the Prince’s of Saudi Arabia I did curtsy and bow my head. Now I’m wondering if I did the right thing.

I did find this which is interesting in it’s entirety for anyone that would like to read it:

BARBARA WALTERS: I understand that now that you are king, you prohibited your subjects from kissing your hand. Were you embarrassed to have your hand kissed?

KING ABDULLAH: I have tremendous distaste for such matters because I believe that one only bows before one’s God, not before another human being.

WALTERS: When you visited President Bush this past April, there were photographs of you and the president holding hands. This is not a gesture common among American men. Did it have significance?

KING ABDULLAH: Yes. In our culture, holding hands is a sign of friendship and a sign of loyalty and you do it with people dear to you. And President Bush is a friend whose friendship I value and … and treasure

        http://www.saudinf.com/main/y8780.htm

    • tminu

NO US President has EVER bowed before any monarch anywhere, except Obama.

    • http://deleted Buzz Latte

Dang. It’s the comments on this video clip that are even more telling. Gone are the fawning obots. It’s just some out and out anger going on there.

Obama: Master at bringing the worst out.

    • Peggy Sue

Depressingly clear, pm. The still shot I managed to catch was from a side angle, and there’s no doubt.

This was a deep, I-almost-fell-on-my-face-and-licked-your-shoes bow.

Can we have a November redo now???

Bush’s holding hands and armlink was bad enough. But this is beyond the pale.

Don’t we have a protocol department? Or is diplomatic protocol too old fashion to count these days? Does not make a pretty picture.

  • http://deleted Buzz Latte

I believe the Queen of Great Britain has requested that no one curtsy to her anymore. That said, there are still points of protocol that must be followed and the ever trashy Obamas have embarrassed themselves and the country in not 1) remembering and 2) being unable to follow protocol.

They are like two wet, untrained puppies.

  • QUEENIE

The new Saudi king has ordered citizens not to kiss his hand, saying the traditional gesture of respect is degrading and violates Islam.

“Kissing hands is alien to our values and morals, and is not accepted by free and noble souls,” Abdullah told a delegation from Baha, in southwest Saudi Arabia, which came to the royal palace to offer congratulations on his accession. “It also leads to bowing, which is a violation of God’s law. The faithful bow to no one but God.”

This was NOT the soft NECK bow he had done earlier to the Queen (as many do while shaking hands although is not protocol).

What Obama is doing here is not just a bow, but if you look closely it is a deep bow with the foot drawn backwards (“a scrape”) indicating excessive humility.

I agree with SusanUnPC 100% here… It was incredibly submissive.

    Also with Flopping Aces:

    http://www.floppingaces.net/2009/04/02/obama-bows-to-saudi-king/

They have also another video: there you can see also how Angela Merkel just shakes the King’s hand…

PBO did this knowingly and purposely (again he didn’t do this excessive bow earlier with the Queen)
because he wants to send a message to the Muslim world…
Either this or his subconscious betrayed him….in which case…G’ help us all.

    A Royal Minus
    ABE GREENWALD – 04.02.2009 – 2:50 PM
Barack Obama has literally bowed before King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. Here’s the question: Was this unprecedented embarrassment the result of the Obama team’s inexperience, incompetence, or inclination toward American humility on the world stage?

Here’s the answer: Who cares? Whatever the cause, the fallout will be the same. Among Muslim democrats and human rights advocates, utter dejection that the “leader of the Free World” has offered himself as a “subject” of the Saudi monarch; among Islamists, bliss over America’s seeming prostration before Salafist Islam; among international bad actors, assurance that America poses no threat; and among our allies, depression about the new systemic instability of the most dependable superpower in history.

    http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/greenwald/61031?cp=3

  • Andy

The MSM hasn’t reported on this at all; and oh, what a coincidence, Blagojevich was just indicted so they will focus on this story ad nauseam to cover up PBO’s
sucking up, ahem, bowing down profusely to the King of Saudi Arabia…

  • lee12

I think we are seeing the fruits of the Donna Brazile – Karl Rove “handshake.”

  • b mathews

look at all the faces laughing as 0bama bows to the prince. could they be laughing at him? they all know he is an incompetent fool and a wanna be king.

    • Ferd Berfle

There isn’t a leader on the world stage who could find a reason to give That One any respect. Unlike 69,000,000 Americans, these leaders have been around the block at least once. That One has barely made it to the front steps.

    • lorac

That’s what crossed my mind, too. Isn’t that Sarkozy behind him (or rather, in front of him, behind the Shiek)? He seems to be rather amused at what he’s witnessing….

And those head things that the Middle Eastern men wear – isn’t it designed for desert conditions? That would be like someone who lived in Seattle and had to wear a raincoat a lot, coming to San Diego and wearing the d*rn raincoat everywhere. Maybe it’s related to the rigidity in that culture….? Just strikes me as odd to use something which was designed for function, and instead use it as an omnipresent, non-functionally related piece of clothing…

But that’s me….. I can’t find much sense in or use for sexist cultures.

      • lorac

Oh – as regards to the last line above – it seems that BO CAN find sense in and use for sexist cultures.

  • Park Slope Pubby

The more you look, the more you realize it is a creepy creepy picture. Sarkozy is in the background, w/ an ear to ear grin. He gets it. And, as the French have always resented the Americans, he likes it.

    • oowawa

Sarkozy is probably thinking: “why doesn’t the fool just kiss him on the cheeks, like I did” (only he’s thinking it in French). But we should probably cut O some slack. After all, isn’t this his first King? Has he ever been face-to-face with a sovereign male monarch before? It could be a little overwhelming. The deep bow is probably almost pure reflex. It likely wasn’t until later that he realized how submissive he looked.

      • tminu

Sarkozy called him vapid and immature…nothing has come forth that would change that opinion.

  • http://www.MoneyPhilosophy.com Jonny Money

Obama’s trip to Europe is likely to push his approval ratings over 70% I think because it reminds Americans of how much of a change he is over the previous President. Now we have a President that the rest of the world not only respects but LOVES. Think about that! That will be very valuable in moving our country’s interests forward.

And now we have a President that doesn’t threaten other countries but instead moves forward. Look at the meeting with Russia about getting rid of nukes. This is great stuff.

    • oowawa

Okay, suppose Putin challenges Obama to arm-wrestle–who wins? A drinking contest? A boxing match? A negotiation over anything? Something tells me Vladimir isn’t going to show Barack a lot of respect in any arena.

      • Ferd Berfle

That One is made of much less than sterner stuff. He’ll fold like cheap tent.

    • andrew191

The rest of the World loves the fact that the U.S. now has a spineless weenie for Pres. It will make it so much easier for them to roll over us on multiple fronts.

As with all great empires the United States inherited the great western tradition and for the past hundred years has kept the western world safe by defending and growing the American sphere of influence. Countries on the periphery of great nations have always been jealous of the power of the leader nation and have always used tactics military and through proxy to bring them down.
The liberals have been snookered into thinking that the rest of the world wants us to be nice.
The rest of the world wants America defeated so that they can have their power and alternate alliances.
If we capitulate our power the western tradition started with Rome will be over.

        • andrew191

          Hey SM,

I’m not surprised that YOU understand my point. We now have several generations in this country that are too naive to realize the envy and contempt that much of the world has for the U.S. That is a fact that has NOTHING to do with the popularity, or lack of it, that our President has.

We’ll talk later, I’ve got to get my son to a band concert.

    • http://deleted Buzz Latte

Today, Obama’s approval rating is at 56% courtesy of Fox News. It has steadily decreased among blacks from a high 97% to 64% via Rasmussen Reports.

What’s with the NEED for approval? What’s with the infantile, but he’s (Obama) nicer than Bush! WAAAAHAAAAAAA!! sniff sniff

Are you that weak? You cannot stand for something or stand on your own?

Roll over, obot. Roll over, obot.

That’s right, your private parts are now in the terrorists and Russians handbag.

      Nice work, loser.

    • tminu

Russia thinks it’s great that we get rid of our nukes. Just not theirs.

    • WhatNow

Russians are very racist and I can’t imagine them saying anything nice about your president. BTW Putin, upon speaking with O after the elections called him a monkey. REspect?????Hmmmmmmmmm.

Anyway, why does it matter to you what other countries think of America? Is this a popularity contest? Instead of American Idol, the World Idol?
Thanks to the Obama’s, we’re still the “Ugly Americans” behind closed doors.

Hard to kick ass when you subjugate yourself to others.

  • Mary Cusack

I am so ashamed to be an american. I don’t even want to wave the flag. This moron has turned us into a laughing stock banana republic. But it’s us who are to blame. Are we doing anything to get this bum out. Are we doing anything to overthrow these pretenders and get our nation back?

    thought not

    • http://www.MoneyPhilosophy.com Jonny Money

Do you realize that what you’ve said is the exact opposite of the truth? That it was George W. Bush that made our country a laughing stock all over the world and that it’s Barack Obama that the rest of the world loves and respects? I mean… it’s like some of the folks here are living in bizarro world or something.

      • Ferd Berfle

That One = Dubya II. Same invincible ignorance, same arrogance, different color. Well, one difference out of three ain’t bad, troll. Keep trying, shiftless.

      • andrew191

I would prefer that the rest of the world were scared shitless of the Pres, rather than love him. Rattlesnakes LOVE rats,…..for dinner.

        • http://www.MoneyPhilosophy.com Jonny Money

I guess I can understand that viewpoint. It’s the same one that the Dick Cheney’s of the world have. But I don’t see it that way. I’d rather that the US was seen as real leader, not as a country that simply tries to bully the rest of the world. I think working together with the rest of the world is the way we can move forward and I’m very confident that President Obama along with SOS Clinton can do a very good job over the next 8 years.

          • tminu

Come on Jonny, Obama is a FASCIST BULLY to us Americans, and a pussy to the world.
He’s quadrupled the Bush deficit in 8 weeks, outspent all US presidents in history combined in 8 weeks, and by 2019 will cost each american taxpayer $140,000 for his destroy-America spending.

WHY oh WHY do you love this FRAUD who hates YOU so much?

            • http://www.marklevinshow.com Seattle Moss

Obama is a FASCIST BULLY to us Americans, and a pussy to the world.

              You are so correct Tminu!

      • WMCB

No, honey. I hate to break it to you, but parts of Europe had a celebrity-based fascination with him that is quickly wearing off. They got caught up in the hype of “Anything is better than Bush – plus he’s young and black!”

And if you think that our enemies in the world have great “respect” for him, you are dreaming, or hopelessly naive, young one.

No one despised George Bush more than I did. But that does not make me blind to what a complete fucked-up disaster Obama is for this country.

Bush is gone, and your idol is going to have to stand on his own, and be accountable for himself. As the celebrity haze blows away, and people realize that the very serious problems of this country are the point, not “feeling hip and good about myself because I voted for the black guy”, the truth becomes evident.

You’ve been had, by a pre-packaged and well-marketed Chicago shyster, who plans to fuck this country over at least as badly as Bush ever did.

You’ve been had, child. You’ve been HAD.

        • Benjamin

          BOOM! lol, great comment.

      • xax

I can’t buy into that whole Bush made America a laughing stock. Because I know one thing, nobody would screw with the US. Why? He would have shoved a missile up your butt.

Call him stupid and all the names you wanted, there was a healthy respect for the US because the guy was kinda crazy and they knew it. You didn’t F with W. Period.

        • FLDemFem

Fear of insanity is not healthy respect. Anywhere.

          • tminu

What’s insane about protecting our country?

    • lorac

      We’re all “from Canada” now….

  • connie

Hey folks, what do you expect him to do remember something like what his staff says about etiquette? Remember he is the telepromter PREZ, he doesn’t remember a thing. This is your brain fried on DRUGS!

  • xax

This is going to be in SOOOO much extremist propaganda it’s not even funny.

My first instinct about him was right… he shows weakness.

    • http://www.MoneyPhilosophy.com Jonny Money

You are right. This is exactly the type of thing that is focused on by extremists.

It’s always about the silly things that don’t really matter.

      • http://deleted Buzz Latte

So borders and laws and humans don’t matter, eh Chump Change Jonny?

So it is okay for your neighbor to break into your house, eat your food, steal your money, and demand you pay for their healthcare. They can kill your family and demolish your home because to you it is a wonderful thing in the name of hopeydopey 2012 thinking and we’re ALL gonna be ONE!

The next spaceship to planet Koolaideus leaves in five minutes. Be on it.

  • cathnealon

Bowing before the Saudis. Didn’t 19 or so of the 9/11 terrorists come from Saudi Arabia? Didn’t BO promise change? Didn’t Michael Moore make a movie bashing Bush for hanging out with the Saudis at the WH and now his hero BO is doing something even worse?Does anybody that voted for this whatever see the total hypocrisy here? No one is covering this, turned to the stations I can’t stomach anymore just to see but CNN and MSNBC are saying that the Obamas are so “cool” and being treated like gods. I can’t wait till we wake up from this nightmare.

  • betty

For the first time in my adult life I want to give the president of the United States a swift kick in the but.

That picture of Obama bending over the hand of that fake king while sticking his hind end out at the rest of us just enrages me. But it finally tells us exactly who Obama is.

The Queen of England who sat and chatted with Winston Churchill and FDR, who has met every person of note, world leader, saint or rock star for the last 60 years gets a terse nod. And then he goes and bends over at the waist to show subservience to a man who directs the schoools in his country to teach hate of America in order to distract the people from the fact that he and his family are raping their country. It is a wonder Obama didn’t tug on his forlock as he bowed and say “yes massa, anyting you say massa”.

  • cynic

At least in bowing Obama isn’t a hypocrite.

We all worship (the oil beneath) the ground they walk on. We bow to the Saudis every time we bend to unscrew the gas cap before fueling up our cars.

    • oowawa

That’s pretty good cynic. Difference is, when I’m bowing, unscrewing the gascap, I’m cursing the oil-producing countries and the companies who sell overpriced gasoline–not paying abject homage to a King.

    • lorac

Well, considering the facism he has introduced into our country, I don’t think we need to bow to them for oil. He’s begun facism here by literally forcing even solvent banks to take TARP funds (so he could meddle in them later), then having government (himself) fire the head of a private corporation, set the salaries of those remaining, and tell them that they are going to now produce green cars. And they are currently debating a new law for taxing our energy usage. If it is passed as is (probably will be watered down some), the news said that the average family will be paying $3000 dollars more for year for electricity. Why? So the fascist government can force us to use alternative energy instead (that’s what the WH spokesman said).

I’m all for alternative energy, myself. But this is not how you make a paradigm shift in a free country.

Up until now I was worried about our economy. Now I’m really worried about our country in general.

      • lorac

oops to be clear – the WH spokesman didn’t use the word fascism, but he said the rest (the reasoning).

    • C.S.

And I’m angry that they didn’t keep their promises to get us off that Saudi oil that they (both parties) have been making since the 1970s! Can the latest White House occupant do it? He’s too busy passing out Bailout Cash to everyone but We the Taxpayers to worry about what the friendly guys as OPEC has in store for us.

    • tminu

There’s 6 times the oil of Saudi Arabia in MT, SD and ND but Obama won’t let us drill for it.
He bows to SA instead and charges each american family $1400 year for cap and trade.

    • FLDemFem

I don’t have to bend over to undo the gas cap..one of the benefits of being short. So I don’t bow to anyone, anytime. Even for gas.

  • Claire

Obama is an outsider, not really an American, someone foreign who has plans to destroy and dismantle our country?

I wonder how anyone could possibly have gotten the idea that PUMAs were motivated by xenophobia?

    Obama is an EMBARRASSMENT.

    Obama is a joke.

He gave Hillary the finger, but he bows to a Saudi prince.

    I could spit up.

    • JB

Could not agree more! Do you watch “Lie To Me”? Great show…they often use Richard Nixon’s and Bill Clinton’s facial expressions as examples of facial expressions universally observed to show deceit, shame, etc. They used the one of Obama giving John McCain the finger as an example of contempt and disrespect (or something akin). It’s been a long time since we’ve had person of class in the White House. I look forward to a little decorum.

  • Entwife

Obuttface’s obsequious bow is disgusting. To the Queen of England, our staunchest allies, he barely notds. To the Saudi king, who fosters wahabi schools in his kingdom, Obrownnose is bowing low enough to kiss a**. It’s sickening. I tell you, the Usurper is a marxist sleeper, born to marxists, raised by them, mentored by them and accompanied through all aspects of his life by marxists. Yeah, he’s reading “The Post-American World,” he’s doing his best to betray us and usher it into fruition! The ignorami in our country have done us in!

  • Entwife

Additionally, I believe Obagman remains a muslim. Rev. Wright’s church did not require its muslim members to renounce Islam for Christianity. Besides, the Catholic church, whose priests in South America in the 70′s were rapidly bringing in liberation theology to their altars, denounced liberation theology as heresy. The church recognized that there was no religion in it, no Christianity, that it was in fact a shell for social activism, a communist substitute to take the place of religion to indoctrinate the masses by subterfuge.

  • califlefty

Let’s please remind ourselves that when Charles Freeman was nominated to head NIA those of us who were critical of the fact he was owned by the Saudis (he calls Abdullah “Abdullah the Great”)we were roundly criticized by many at this very site as being in the beck and call of the “Israel Lobby.” Now we have a reminder why that nomination was indeed dangerous.

  • rockrooky

The election is over, the faker “won” and still these obots are threatened by free thinkers?
What is so threatening about people who refuse the kool-aid?
I haven’t been here for a while, as we’re pretty much stuck with the jerk now and it is another 4 years of pretending I don’t know who that guy is, after 8 years of the same with Bush.
Now I come back here and the Obots are still at it? There must be a reason they are so threatened by those who see the Emperor has no clothes.
Look most of us would prefer that he surprised us and rose to the occasion. It has happened many times in history that a loser gave birth to a bigger self when meeting a challenge. So far he has seldom done anything of promise, while being more Bush like than I imagined he would be.
You Obots roaming around here just makes my fears of an Obama initiated facism all the stronger.
You’d like that wouldn’t you pretty boys with all your online threats. What are we supposed to do, step outside with you because we have opinions you do not care for? I guess free thought and free speech are concepts that have little import to an Obot. They are concepts those who value the Constitution and fair play have often been willing to die for. They are a critical part of the foundation of this nation of ours, a rather unique and special place, though imperfect. You all make me ashamed of my life time dedication to all things liberal. I will never believe anyone again because they belong to a group that I am supposed to be able to trust. The word liberal has no meaning for me anymore, unless it were to be “betrayer”.
