Sorry I'm so late replying. I did not intend to say that this attitude is OK, only that is is widespread in the black community, just as racism is widespread in white, asian, and latino communities. Trust me, when only AAs are present you hear these sentiments. Sometimes the sentiments are expressed half-jokingly, other times seriously. Understand that it is dying out, and the younger generations, including my own, and the much older generations, typically don't feel that way. Rev. Wright is just in the generation where that was pretty common. Of course, the wider "blame game" hurts the AA community itself more than anyone outside it.

So far the prObama blogs are basically announcing “Nothing to see here, move along” on this scandal.

I believe the technical term is "whistling past the graveyard". And boy howdy, they've got themselves a regular hootenanny going on!

Obama: Spam in the Can by April 15th. I stand by my earlier prediction, but, with 20/20 hindsight, I'd have made it April 23, the day after Pennsylvania primary.

Simon -

Obama, the guiding hand to American unanimity, has for the past 20 years been a parishioner at Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, whose leader is, by any reasonable standard, a racist.

BO's cult will soon be changing this to say that he was a prisoner at Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, whose leader is, by any reasonable standard, a racist.

He didn't want to be there. He was forced to go, just once when delivering food baskets to the poor.

BO makes Jon Lovitz' liar routine seem serious.

QuietOne..

Thanks for your Comments..These Issues are Worth a debate..and I agree it should be more Public..
and mixed.. We white folks hve to understand that we do not see everything the same as other racial or Ethnic groups..

I have always been grateful that I always had a roof..a Bed..and something to eat..and a good Mom..who had to work hard every day..to take care of us..raised her own chickens..grew a garden..cut the fire wood..never was bitter about anything and never asked anybody for anything..

I picked strawberrys in the summer time..picked wild berrys and fruit and vegtables for my Mom to Preserve..

The problem I have with some of your position is that the Black Communitys then to Dwell to much on Anger..Bitterness over Slavery.. and Black
Citizens Demonstrating thier own form of Racism..Blaming Whitey for so many things..Hating Whitey..being Jelous of Whitey..Hating the Government..and Saying the things Pastor Wright and others Say to Inflame the Black Community..

Doesn';t belong in America any more than the KKK or White Racists..

I think The Black Community hurts thier Cause with comments like Farrakahn and Pastor Wright or any other Person makes taht Creates Hatred..resentment..or stirs passions so much people are easily pushed into anger and Violence..

I have admired many Black people..i Have Black friends..One is a Pastor who has the Sweetest Spirit I have seen..I have been to his Church..

I Never...ever heard anyone..but Kids on the Streets and in Gangs..Talk like Pastor Wright..

I will try to do more..but I think the Black Community should stop playing the Race issue too..and be better Role Models..

There are alot of Black Multi Millionares who should be forming Trusts..help Clean up Chicago..Help people Learn a trade..and Work with Thier White Counterparts..who really do Care..and Want to help the Black Communitys To..

Thanks again..

Donna Brazile is not lying. She said he is "actually one of the more moderate" black ministers. That is the truth. You simply don't know the black community.

The problem is that this just shows how separate black people are from other, more assimilated races in this country, such as asians and latinos, both of whom intermarry freely and often into the white community. This form of black nationalism has been festering for years. It becomes more visible to nonblack people only in special circumstances, such as when Bill Cosby tried to rally black people to take more responsibility for the condition of our neighborhoods and families. He was excoriated by the "academics" who follow the same line of reasoning. Rev. Wright is one of the more moderate black ministers. But it is a relative term, judged in the context of views commonly expressed in the black community when other races are not present.

It is sad that you and your sponsor, Larry, an ex-CIA agent no less, probably know certain communities in foreign countries better than you know your own fellow citizens in the black community here at home. For example, the other day you commented that Michelle was probably treated well and accepted at Princeton. I don't know how she was treated. I do know that black students have had racial problems at the Ivy League schools. Historically, Princeton was the last to integrate and was forced to do so by the military after WWII. It was traditionally viewed as one of the roughest for black students because it had a deeply racist and large white Southern representation among the student body. In contrast, Harvard had a more diverse, tolerant, NY/Middle Atlantic, Jewish, student body and a long tradition of integration.

And the Clintons are sometimes ignorant too, despite their long history with the black community. I winced when they chose BET founder Johnson to speak for them. Anyone in the community knows he is held in low regard despite his money because of BET's low quality and his poor treatment of his ex-(black)wife. But whites sometimes pick anyone who is wealthy and black without really checking to see how he or she is actually viewed in the community. (Note to the Clintons - don't pick Bryant Gumble.) Black women dominate voting in the black community and our struggles to secure a place in society with far less money and very limited marriage and other social opportunities are an important factor in understanding Obama's success. Without Michelle, with her down-to-earth style, her dark-brown skin, her deep family roots in the black working class, and her connections to the Chicago black elite, Obama would not have had the success he has had in the black voting community. In sum, Obama's support is based not on simple "pride" as Ferarro said, stupidly and racistly, but on the belief that somehow the Obamas represent them - the same way people foolishly elected and re-elected Bush thinking he somehow represents them. Try running Tiger Woods or Bryant Gumble for President and see how much of the black vote either would get.

People on this blog can continue to call anyone who supports Obama a mindless idiot. They can continue to define "moderate" for the black community without knowing anything about the community. They can even use the "n-" word as they did on another blog today in criticizing blacks generally while discussing Rev. Wright. Or they can try to learn what is really said in the black community and to understand it so that they can intelligently challenge it. It is worth the effort.

I'll be the first to say that perhaps it is time to face the double standard. Out of guilt, I am assuming as I don't know, the AA community has been allowed to openly vent in a way that no other race in this country would dare.

Wright's diatribe and the fact that he tapes himself and sells the hate truly does define "The Audacity of Hope."

I only wish we could call Mr. Wright for what he really is: a businessman. A very successful one.

As for Brazile, she has been lying for a long while now and nobody has called her on it. What is up with that?

Nobody but you NoQuarter!
