Pat Caddell On Obama [+ OPEN THREAD + UPDATE]

SPAM FILTER UPDATE: Our spam filter is catching many comments. IF you think your comment got swallowed by the spam filter, send me an e-mail at susanunpc at gmail dot com. I’m trying to find them, but it’s tedious since there are almost 1,000 comments in the spam filter.

I found some of his comments, throughout — Obama faces a “real test in Pennsylvania” and “I’m telling you folks, this race is not over” — rather fascinating. There’s more to catch — including how Obama is going about this ALL the wrong way to “win.” Special thanks to C.S. for spotting this video:

The Obama camp has been trying to declare victory since Iowa.

BTW - I can’t see how the revote issue will hurt Hillary in Florida and Michigan, but if he’s the nominee it will hurt Obama.

Comment by SusanUnPC | 2008-03-25 12:06:20

He is the SOLE human being who can let the people of Michigan and Florida have a revote.

The ball is in his hands.

The fault will also be entirely his.

Comment by apishapa | 2008-03-25 12:19:59

Actually, more accurately, He is the sole human being obstructing the Florida and Michigan delegations from being seating and demanding that 2 million voters be tossed aside.

I do not believe there is time for a revote now, all his doing, and he will never allow Hillary to have the delegates she earned.

Comment by tiffany | 2008-03-25 15:15:03

Actually, I blame Dean and the DNC. They have to show some leadership and tell the Obama people to accept this reality and stick it to him. They made a mistake, they revised it and Dean has the power to revise the rules and allow a revote. But Dean is afraid of the backlash and he has chickened out. Dean has no idea how much stronger the backlash will be if Hillary loses the nomination due to the fiasco they created in Fl and Mi.But of course, they will always blame their mistakes on the Clintons!

Susan, I know this is OT but I just got this link from talkleft about and online petition drive by Florida and Michigan votes to have their delegates seated so that their votes count.

The goal is 10,000 signatures. Please help.
The petition will be delivered to Howard Dean and the DNC.

Here’s the link: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/seatourdelegates/index.html

Marge, this is an open thread. You can post anything here you like. I’m glad you posted that petition link.

One man alone, disenfranchising over 2 million voters….1.7 million voters in FL alone!

Obama is the only man keeping people’s votes from counting!

One man alone, is enabling him. He didn’t punish the other 4 states that broke the rules including Iowa, and Nevada.

Howard Dean.

TELL CHAIRMAN DEAN IN A DEMOCRACY THE ONLY RIGHTS YOU HAVE ARE FROM HAVING YOUR VOTES COUNT. ALL RIGHTS STEM FROM THIS BASIC RIGHT AND YOUR FAMILY CAN’T SUPPORT A CANDIDATE WITH MONEY, TIME OR VOTES IN A GENERAL ELECTION WHO HAS TO DISENFRANCHISE 2 STATES TO WIN!

He’s got a sunny nobility about him. As if the world was made for m=him alone, and all’s right with the world.

Bush had that look, but he was thick as two short Planks and a conservative ideology. Obama has a sharp mind–probably no principles though.

Comment by apishapa | 2008-03-25 13:04:27

Sharp minds do not “hit the worng button” again and again. They learn how to vote before they show to the senate.

Sharp minds do not have explain again and again that “I didn’t mean it like that”. Or “I didn’t know”. They choose their words (and associations) carefully.

He is a joke. So far, I have not been that impressed with his credentials or work ethic or his brilliance. He’s been skating for years. What kind of law professor never publishes even one article? What kind of Senator attaches his name to work done by others, never bothering to do any research himself?

Comment by mostest | 2008-03-25 13:43:43

work ethic

That is it in a nutshell! Obama is off on an extended vacation (CNN has a 50second video of The “one” lounging pool side) while he has not hold a single meeting of his subcommitte. He is lounging around while Afganistan is going back to a hell in handbasket, again. He is loafing off while the economy is falling apart.

I understand that Obama needs to spent time with his young kids but world events are not scheduled around quality time with the kids.

I bet Obama is amazed himself how he is getting away with this…thus far.

Comment by Kat Bee | 2008-03-25 14:45:31

His co-workers at the Harvard Law Review recall that he had very “hands-off” approach to his duties as editor.

Comment by SusanUnPC | 2008-03-25 15:03:54

Oh really?! Where did you see that? I want that.

See, I thought highly of his editorship until — until — i read that he was elected to the job. It was a popularity contest. And they all got to feel good about electing an AA as editor.

I’ve suspected that he didn’t do much as editor (because of his lack of work ethic in ALL of his other jobs), but hadn’t seen any statements on it. Please find your source, if you can. E-mail me at susanunpc at gmail dot com

River daughter, on the Confluence, mentioned yesterday Dean was having trouble coming up with a down payment for the Denver arena.

So, is the DNC already feeling an impact?

Good.

Comment by flyarm | 2008-03-25 14:50:36

to simon..

this is what Riverdaughter wrote yesterday..and I do know that several very big DNC donors from Florida have asked for their money back!!

snip:

http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/2008/03/24/monday-last-day-to-register-in-pa/

What if you were planning to throw a party and nobody paid? That is dilemma laid out in Money Troubles in Denver at the NYTimes. Howard Dean is having trouble coming up with half of the money for a downpayment. (LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!) Ahem, excuse me for that. Where was I? Oh, yeah, no one could have predicted that anyone would take a large swing state, slam a harsh penalty on it, take another large swing state, slam *it* with another harsh penalty and manage to piss off the voters enough that they want their money back for the convention. It was completely unforseen …..

Comment by simon | 2008-03-25 15:06:15

flyarm,

I am so glad to see this, the idea the Fl and MI voters would be disenfranchised to support Obama is revolting.

Someone on the Confluence remarked Obama must be in some trouble if all this effort is going into suppressing a re vote.

Interesting.

I hope in his downfall he takes Pelosi and Dean with him.

And of all things, Rezkowatch has been mentioning Kerry in connection with Obama and Rezko, Kerry’s old campaign staff signing on with Obama, after Kerry said he wouldn’t run, in 2008.

This will never be legitimate without Michigan and Florida.

If Obama or the DLC think for one minute that the electoral votes of Wyoming, Idaho, or Utah will win them the white house, then go for it..but they will not have Florida’s electoral votes or Michigans.

And for anyone to say Obama is leading in popular vote they are spinning and lying.

Hillary is winning the popular vote.

In the sanctions against Florida , no where does it say the will of the people will not be counted.

The sanctions say the delegates will not be seated at the convention and will not be allowed to vote at the convention.

We in Florida have already voted for our delegates, they have been elected by caucus votes by the DNC rules, and Hillary won the majority of delegates , based on the popular vote of Florida.

No where in the sanctions or DNC rules does it say the popular vote of a state will be removed from the numbers of a candidates total popular vote..or that the Wll of the voters will be ignored.

So the next time an obamabot says Obama is leading in the popular vote shut them right up..that is nothing but propaganda the obama team is trying to BS the people with.

Oh and i was a co-captain in Iowa for a caucus for Edwards, in the tally for delegates at the caucus they didn’t even keep track of the number of people who were there to caucus..it did not represent one person one vote, there was a formula for rounding out the number of caucus go’ers, so i don’t know how you could figure popular vote with a caucus..i am not saying you can’t , i just don’t know how that would be done.

But if anyone could stand in front of me and tell me in Wyoming of 59,000 registered dem voters , only 7,000+ caucus go’ers came to caucus , that that represents the will of the people and popular vote, over 1.8 million voters who are counted one person, one vote , over Florida voters who came to vote, registered democrats ..than i will eat your hat!

Hillary won Florida by over 400,000 votes..compare that to 4,000 caucus votes for a win for Obama in Wyoming..

who is really winning by popular vote? i would have to say Hillary!

I found a netroot campaign in FaceBook.

This group come up with the cheap way to protest DNC.
They think it will be cheaper and easier to organize
than having people line up the street in from of DNC
office.

Their main idea is to protest/annoy DNC and make a
statement by sending any type of can to emphasis the
word “can” in “Can i get a re-vote?”

It’s a bit juvenile, only kids can come up with this
idea. I think the group members are mostly in the same
group as Obama kool-aid kids. But who knows it might
work. We might give it a shot and follow the younger
generation lead.

See their link if you want to join them and send the can.

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=22838963840&ref=mf

I sent my letter with a can to Howie Dean of the Dimwitted-Nutty-Committee this morning.

Comment by TeakwoodKite | 2008-03-25 12:50:59

it did not represent one person one vote.

This point is crucial and is the most important.
Secondly having them counted accurately and have the results mean something…

Flyarm, I canot begin to imagine the level of …I don’t have a word for it. How do you describe the feeling / disposition one might have after four elections cycles in your state like something out of “Votes Gone Wild” ? I joke only because it is out of forboding. WTF? If Obama wants to change the “mindset” why can’t he point out that the re-thugs in Florida where “in the mood”? BO could use it for political gain, at least folks would get to vote… The guy is so tone deaf!!!

Comment by flyarm | 2008-03-25 13:28:30

to TeakwoodKite

to answer you , as tears well up in my eyes, it is beyond furstrating, it is the feeling of a non American, i feel as though i am now a non American, with the promise of rights, but never having them.

To see my husband have his votes stolen because the Republicans in this state played games with signatures of Hispanics and minorities, and to see my son have his votes stolen because of the same signature bullshit ..in not one but two elections.

And it is not that we have not done what we could with doing our civil duties, I was a poll watcher at large ( one of only two in my large county..at -large meaning i could be sent to any precinct,.to poll watch for any dem candidate at their request) , an elected delegate, and my husband and i helped run a very large 3 county field office for president in 2004 and we housed the field rep Kerry sent to our area of Florida..we gave alot of money to the DNC and Kerry..alot..

we worked daily for years trying to make a change..

And now i sit here as a former Delegate helpless..and i know those who were elected delegates this time, will not be going to the convention and representing me, or my family or the families of those in need or those who have served this country so bravely.

I took being a delegate very seriously. I was representing people in my county. I was their voice . And those who were pledged for Hillary and Obama this time will not be going to the convention representing anyone.

and it is so damn stupid!

and it is so self serving on the part of Obama , Howard Dean and Donna Brazile, and Kerry, and Kennedy, and Dashle, they are doing their damnest to manipulate our election.

This has nothing to do with the will of the people, or one person one vote.

This entire system has been rigged by one faction of the democratic party..and it is beyond dispicable.

It was dispicable when the republicans did it to us..but i find it even more dispicable having it done to us by my own party.

My husband served this nation in Uniform, both our families served this nation for the rights we were supposed to be born with..what a joke..

and the Jome is on all of us, today it is my vote, tommorrow it may be yours ..that is not allowed to be counted.

That is unacceptable and should not be accepted by any of us.

Who the hell is Dean to decide this?

Who the hell is Donna Brazile to decide this?

If we the people allow this to stand , we get what we deserve.

And we won’t deserve much.

What we will be accepting is alot less than the democracy we were allowed to believe we were.

I am now a Non American.

My husband and son are Non Americans, and each and every person who voted Jan 29th 2008 in Forida as a democrat is deemed,by Obama and Howard Dan and Donna Brazile, a Non American.

You all have to decide if this is acceptable..it is not by any dems i know here in Florida.

and we will lose Florida in Nov by a landslide.

and you can kiss away 27 electoral votes, that should
have and and most likely would have been ours.

Just look at how many democrats in Florida are being disenfranchised..

these are ll people that are not being counted..

by Obama , Dean and Brazile.

how dare them!

how dare anyone? we have the largest block of vets in the nation..many of these people put their lives on the line ..for that vote!!

and many do right now..as we have the headquarters of this war in our state of Florida.

The only topic for Obamcans today is “Tuzlagate”.
Very sad.
I am so glad I live in a red state. If Obama is the nominee, I don’t want to have to decide whether to vote for him.
If we had two QUALIFIED candidates at this stage, I would be so much happier.

Comment by Mike Pridmore | 2008-03-25 12:58:25

That is typical, isn’t it, Mark.

If people try out the handy-dandy widget created by HillVet for FACTHUB — it’s in our middle column just below Larry’s photo and the contribute button — there are two stories that FactHub put out to clarify. The latest one begins, “Hillary misspoke…” But quotes from her book that accurately describes the trip.

It is VERY good, and should give you all fodder to fight back against the ‘droids.

Comment by simon | 2008-03-25 14:22:09

It is VERY good, and should give you all fodder to fight back against the ‘droids.

On my morning news, this morning, KABC, this story was reported three times.

The first was Clinton alone, looking untrustworthy.

The second juxtaposed the “misspoke comment,” regarding Bosnia, with two gaffes by McCain and Obama, both concerning the middle east. Obama’s infamous “let’s bomb Pakistan” and McCain mumbling something about AL qaeda and Iran, and then looking at his shoes. An aide had to correct McCain, he look befuddled.

Clinton, in that report, looked the sharpest, it was truly frightening to witness the ignorance on the part of Obama, and McCain, President by media consultant.

Truly.

The third report featured the anchor making a face of disgust after a simple read of the story.

Susan,

I need some feedback. I think every single Hillary supporter needs to LEAVE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, resgister as Indy and send letters to the DNC with a petition saying we will REFUSE to vote for OBAMA if they do not count these votes. IF millions of us leave they will have NO CHOICE but to listen to us and to let the SuperDels know that WE ARE SERIOUS and will NOT vote.

This is WAR and we need to revolt. Feedback? Am I being crazy?

Comment by apishapa | 2008-03-25 13:18:13

I am leaving the Democratic Party. I is very hard to do. Being a Democrat has been part of my identity for 35 years. But my party no longer stands for the ideals I embraced it for.

Just two years ago, we were demanding fair elections, attacking republicans for disenfranchising voters. Now look at this party. The DNC has selected the nominee they want and will go to any lengths to prevent voters from scewing up their plan.

The DNC has allowed Obama to borrow the Rove playbook that we all despised while decrying any effort by Clinton to campaign fairly and honestly as “going negative”. Obama’s surrogates have been name calling since day one, while Hillary has tried to maintain dignity. Yet, she is bombarded every day with hatred, not just from the media but from her own party officials. DNC is supposed to stay neutral.

The Hillary Rules have eliminated any party loyalty I once felt.

Comment by IndyRobin | 2008-03-25 13:31:08

Thanks for your feedback but leaving one by one is NOT enough. I’m talking MILLIONS of Hillary supporters SETTING A DATE and leaving TOGETHER.
The Supers are doing this and if they KNOW that they have lost us and we will hand Johm McCain a victory then they may come to their senses

Comment by simon | 2008-03-25 14:31:03

I won’t ever leave, Indy.

I think the stinky ones ought to go.

Comment by IndyRobin | 2008-03-25 15:09:41

Here is my question. IF we register as a Indy
then can we NOT vote for whomever we please, including democract? If so, you could STILL vote dem but by going Indy we could at least send the threat! Am I off base here and grasping at straws? I trust your imput because you read poetry :) Big Smile

Comment by bert | 2008-03-25 19:39:34

Indy Robin - In the General Election you can vote for who ever you want. And you do not have to state party. Just be a registered voter.

The only tine party comes into play is during the primary. And each state has different requirements on that. Check with your state for rules and/or laws governing primary elections.

Comment by miriam | 2008-03-25 14:09:27

No, IndyRobin, you’re not crazy, unless I am too. I’ve just withdrawn my “Democrat” registration of 46 years, and have re-registered as an Independent. And have emailed Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi with the sentiments you just expressed. I refuse to be a member of a party of which I am ashamed.

Comment by SusanUnPC | 2008-03-25 15:49:23

I have unsubscribed to their stupid e-mails begging me for money. No money until they give Florida and Michigan the right to have a full re-vote — and none of that caucus nonsense.

Comment by Gloria | 2008-03-26 00:58:22

I’m deregistering after our June primary here in NM. I want to vote for the progressive, Kissling, who did amazingly well against dirtbag Pearce even without money. We have a DLCer in training that has screwed us locally and we can’t let him loose on the public.
So, I want to vote for Kissling to make sure McCamley loses the primary.

After than, I’m out. I was always non-registered but registered for the Gore race in 2000.

i have no idea how you can tell an obamabot a damn thing. i was in a mildly heated debate with a fellow democrat … she is middle aged with two biracial children ..deliriously happy about the “race speech.”

she went so far as to assert it may be one of the most important political speeches given in the last fifty years. when i asked her how she felt about the reasons for the speech and why it took him so long to respond to the wright situation, she gave me a blank look before finally saying … “well he couldnt say anything before now he hadn’t won the nomination, he wasnt far enough ahead.” wtf … she could not grasp the fact how obama’s excuses and lies made him look indecisive and dishonest to many democrats.

this woman also explained how the gop was at fault for disenfranchsing the democratic voters of florida and michigan. she expressed some dismay regarding dean’s actions but assured me this doesnt mean obama cant win these states … “after all, the alternative is too terrible for them not to support him.” she regained that far away fuzzy look when i merely stated millions would probably not vote at all in those states … yes a vote for mcrazy may not happen but how could they vote for someone who had disenfranchised them like dubya bush.

finally, she gushed how her two sons, ages 11 and 13 were calling themselves obama kids cause they were just like him. i kindly pointed out she should inform her sons they are nothing like him … they will never come from priveleged black class nor will they ever be afforded the opportunites he has been due to being lower middle class. i suggested she have her sons study tiger woods who came from a more similar background … he used hard work and determination … he was not given anything. the really sad part of this whole exchange … she is an elected offical … my god … our party is in deep trouble.

Comment by hillarysmygirl | 2008-03-25 15:04:58

Tell me about it…my father-in-law called us “stupid” for voting for Hillary. And when we sent them the L.A. Times article by Michael Meyers, “Obama Blew It”
(http://preview.tinyurl.com/32vtom), his response was “This was a really stupid article. I don’t understand your distrust. B & H warrant distrust. They are manipulative, evasive, sneaky, etc., etc., etc.”
ETC.? Like I’m supposed to fill in the blanks. We’ve decided not to talk about Obama anymore, even when provoked, which they like to try to do on a regular basis.

that far away fuzzy look…

I see that too, it’s like their programming is being challenged and they have to check in with the Mother Ship to get re-booted.

Comment by jj | 2008-06-05 23:09:55

May I ask a favor?

As a hearing impaired person, it is almost impossible for me to watch a video and get anything from it other than body language.

When you post a video, could you post either a link to a transcript or a short summary of the content? It would be most helpful and gratefully appreciated.

It will also be helpful for other hearing impaired people, many of which do not openly acknowledge their hearing loss.

Comment by IndyRobin | 2008-03-25 13:49:23

I would be happy to do that. Where do I find the transcripts?

Comment by SusanUnPC | 2008-03-25 14:11:52

Robin, I have no idea. Would you be willing to explore YouTube, and see if they address this concern? It is important.

ALSO: Would you be willing to explore Fox News and see if they have a transcript up yet for Hannity’s show last night? I’ll gladly add it to the post. Just e-mail it to me at susanunpc at gmail dot com .

However, back to YouTube, my guess is that it is up to each YouTube member to supply a transcript for their own videos.

HILLARYCLINTON.COM always provides transcripts of her videos. Which is great.

Comment by IndyRobin | 2008-03-25 15:23:03

Hey Susan,

I’ll try. I’m at work and to be fair, they should just fire my OCD ass. It might be later for the Fox but with the YouTube I am clueless so someone else will have to pick this ball and run with it.

Comment by Kevin | 2008-03-25 19:44:43

Generally speaking YouTube does not. The best one can often hope for if not doing transcription oneself and posting it - is to find the released text of the speech in question from either candidates site - or better still a “nuetral” news source.

There are transcription services that provide this level of transcription to the general public for free - let me dig around and I’ll see if I can find some links for both of you.

Rush to register at Pa. deadline;

Also, 29,060 people changed their party affiliation to Democrat in just those seven days.

That increased the total number of eligible Democrats to 4,044,952, an increase of 4 percent from last November

“I started getting nervous that I wasn’t going to make it,” added Person, a Republican who is switching parties so she can weigh in on the choice facing Democrats

In Delaware County, Mary Jo Headley, who has worked 33 years in voter registration - including 10 years as its director - said yesterday’s crowd was unprecedented.

“I don’t remember a primary ever being like this,” she said, adding that the majority of applicants were switching parties. “I’ve seen a lot of excitement.”.
