I’m an Independent(started out an Edwards supporter) and it amazes me that the same people who rag on Obama for supposedly playing the race card never acknowledge the real gender issue a Clinton nomination would bring.

Only the Democrats would decide to run a black guy or woman in a time that is the most favorable for them politically. That is the real mistake, not anything Obama or Clinton says or does.

what I know about bushido as teakwoodlite pointed to, dying for a cause is rather stupid. if I must then I must, but most people of the people I’ve ever known or been exposed to who have the “trained to die” mindset I believe you are referring to, are rather dense and selfish. They live in a glory in their own head alone.

I am with LJ on this, that training is about swift effective response. in my training I sought to be the most effective defensive fighter I could be. my goal was to preserve life and I was given specific goals by my oath to my training under my sifu.

There are many good stories about honorable fighters in our tradition and none of them involves being trained to die in the sense you mean it. The awareness of one’s own death before any combat is essential to understand the need to preserve life.

I cannot vote for this man just based on his character and judgement. His Black Liberation theology philosophy of the church’s and Reverend Wright’s is what really scares me and I’m sorry but I have to believe that is his philosophy due to the length he decided to stay there.

Alice, and Obama, these are people who really don’t get to travel much. You’d be surprised how very little other countries feel about racism in America. Not in the same way that we Americans do, especially black Americans. There’s a reason many black Americans now and in the past have chosen expatriacy. It was a way of living with fellow human beings without the albatross of American racist attitudes hanging around your neck. Surely, Alice Walker remembers James Baldwin, Richard Wright????

This commentary by Ms Walker, who by the way slept with a white male to produce a biracial daughter and whose literary work has shown very little regard for black manhood, is assinine. She has clearly has drunk the kool-aid. And since Alice has shown very little love for black men, maybe it’s Obama’s white half that she has regard for.

And it points to another reason why I reject Obama. This is just diplomatic naivete. World leaders are not interested in America’s past. They are interested in the present and the future and what America will bring to the table in terms of negotiating global issues.

These remarks are just downright embarrassing to this AA woman. They are foolish and not well thought out. Alice needs to dig herself. Obama simply ain’t all that.
