21 Ways of Knowing If You’re a Hillary Supporter
By Bud White on April 8, 2008 at 4:46 PM in Barack Obama, Health Care, Hillary Clinton
You believe every single American should have healthcare.
You believe experience matters.
You believe that working men and women are the backbone of America.
You believe America should invest in green-collar jobs.
You cried during the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan.
You believe that we’re all in this together.
You hate sexism and racism equally.
You believe talk is cheap.
You respond to Reverend Wright with “No, no, no, God Bless America!”
You believe the victories of the New Deal are worth fighting for.
You believe the victories of the Great Society are worth fighting for.
You believe the battles of the 1990s were worth it.
You ask, What’s the matter with eight years of peace and prosperity?
You ask what you can do for your country.
You believe a rising tide lifts all boats.
You believe that working hard can solve almost every problem.
You believe that children are the future and should be cherished.
When the Pledge of Allegiance is said, you put your hand on your heart and you tear up with pride.
You believe in a living wage.
You believe it will take an experienced and steady hand to guide us
out of Iraq.
You believe our warriors deserve the utmost respect and care.
If you agreed with at least 7 of the statements above, chances are that you’re a Hillary supporter or you should be one.

Cross-posted from my blog, Bud White’s World.

I definitely agree with all 21 statements and I am definitely a strong Hillary supporter!
Excellent questions, Bud, and questions to which many “progressives” would look down upon. I scored 21 for 21.
It’s become clear during this primary season that Obama-adoring “progressives” denounce patriotism as both boorish and passe. That’s the whole problem (and maybe the reason it isn’t problem enough) with Jeremiah Wright. Many Obama supporters agree with Wright’s anti-Americanism. Can you imagine what will happen if he were to become president?
I’m still lost in this new world, where “progressives” are ashamed of America and Hillary-supporting Democrats are pronounced war-mongers.
Thanks for asking questions about our love for America and the candidate who will best lead this country.
Although this is a bit dense reading, I highly recommend this article “The Unknown Obama” from a symposium of academics asking the serious questions and posing excellent analysis.

MJK Thanks for sharing this link and article. It is long, but not really that difficult a read. What makes it difficult to read is just the formating of the website. If the article were in columns it would be much easier to read.
However, I would encourage all to read it. There is a lot to ponder there, especially on foreign policy,(especially things I had never thought about the Mideast) but there is also a lot of really good insight as to why Obama is a very poor candidate for the office of President of the United States.
Hate to admit, but I was with all but 2 of these:
“You believe the battles of the 1990s were worth it.”
and
“When the Pledge of Allegiance is said, you put your hand on your heart and you tear up with pride.”
I only question the first statement by asking what the “it” in “worth it” is. I’m not exactly sure what Bud means by that.
As to the second, it’s not that I don’t pledge allegiance, or that I don’t put my hand on my heart, or that I don’t support the pledge. But I honestly can’t say I “tear up with pride” each time! That would be a bit of stretch for me, sorry folks!
“When the Pledge of Allegiance is said, you put your hand on your heart and you tear up with pride.”
And you are not propagating the rumors that Obama is unpatriotic? Pathetic, simply pathetic.
Next, are you going to accuse Obama of being Muslim too?
People like you who don’t do thier homework..including understanding..Marxism..or Do Backgrouds are pathetic John…or have you forgotten How George w. Bush used EMOTION to take over Ourf government and CON us into Invading IRAQ..and who has pratically destroyed the US Economy and Ifransturcture through neglect..??
What are OBAMAS Qualifications to be President..??
What has He done for YOU..??
Senator Robert Menendez is really socking it too Gen Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker right Now..
Amazing that ambassador crocker wrote Colin Powell and the State department at report BEFORE the Invasion of Iraq..At POWELLS request..in 2002..
That report is Titled “The Perfect Storm”..and says an invasion of Iraq would be a Chaotic Disaster and would Result in virtually everything that Indeed HAS Happene4d in iraq after thwe Invasion..
The State Deparetment5 refuses to release that 2002 Study written by Ambassador Crocker..but it did got to Powell…state and the Bush administration before the INVASION..
But CONDI..had the NERVE..the BALLS…to stand up in front of the American people..as national Security Advisor and Say..”WHO COULD HAVE ANTICIPATED..”‘
LIES..Distortions..Excuses..
grounds for Impeachment and Fraud..
No..He is half Muslim ..but its Dormant now..
And the “Code” word is…
22. If you’ve ever dodged sniper fire
23. If you are for free trade…er, against it… er, for it.
24. If you’ve never told a lie, just misspoke.
Bud White is talking about truths, but If it’s lies you’re looking for,
there’s already a site with Obama’s laundry list of lies–72 and counting.
http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.com/?page_id=15
And then there’s this from ABC today “Obama Continues to Twist Truth About Twisting Truth”
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/04/obama-continues.html
Thanks for the update. I hadn’t seen it since it was at 65.
George W. Bush…”Mission Accomplished..”
John McCain..”If it takes a Hundred years..’
Barack Obama..”Everyone has a crazy Uncle”but
he is my friend..
GOD DAMN>>GOD DAMN>>GOD DAMN…RICH WHITE PEOPLE.
Independant…What Have you done for America compared to Hillarys Record of Service..??
did you ever Exagerate something..?
Your POINT is Pointless..So Lame..
I agree with all of the points that Bud is making In Principal and can think of many more reasons why I support Hillary..and Appreciate hwer experience and dedication to Fight POVERTY and help the Poor and Middle Class in this Great Nation of Ours..(God Blesss the USA) and appreciate the Stable economy and work of the Clinton Administration during the 90’s…
President Bush and His Neo Cons have flushed everything positive done by the Clintons down the toilet..and Started a War by telling lies and using manipulation and misjudgement..
!2 BILLION $$$$ a Month…IN..ON..and FOR IRAQ..
Gone…Wasted Money…No return..
30,000 American Casualitys…
ALL SPENT and KILLED and MAIMED for GEORGE W.BUSH
I think Bush should still be impeached..and his whole administration INDICTED..
Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice..and other Rotten participants in this SCAM on the American people
and the UN..aqnd on the People of Iraq..
They should also be subject to a class Action Suit
on behalf of the American people..the 9/11 victims…The American military and familys and Veterans..
What The Bush administration has gottenj away with is DISGUSTING..as discusting as CHRIS just saying that Obama was the One to really ask the Hard Pointed Questions in the Hearings today..
Chris..Go Tingle somewhere else..You are disgusting
Obama is nothing but a Phony Pony..Inexperienced Politician who got where he is by being a GOOD TALKER ..and a Manipulator in His own Right.. if you look at his record and Background..
What has Obama Done..????
HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT..HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT…..
Those are great! Thanks for posting.
Twenty one thumb salute! That’s GREAT!
I’d feel better about the Pledge if they’d restore the original wording without “under God.” I say this for two reasons. One, it smacks of a religious test that is plainly against the spirit of the Founders and the Constitution. Two, it undercuts the point of the powerful phrase, “one nation, indivisible.”
Besides, from a truly pious, religious point of view, it takes quite a bit of effrontery to proclaim yourself a “nation under God.” Presumption like that, not crude language, is the real violation of the commandment forbidding taking God’s name in vain.
It’s the song “America the Beautiful” that makes me tear up.
Its “AMAZING GRACE” that Tears me up…Especially whyen played on Bagpipes..at Funerals for those killed in the line of duty..including Friends of mine..
Me too. Every time I hear it. And, when I used to go to Seahawks and Mariners games (a long time ago), every time they played the national anthem, the tears would flow. (Kind of embarrassing but I couldn’t help it — I was raised by my parents and my school teachers to feel patriotic, and it has a deep hold on me. Which is why Rev. Wright’s Amerikkka and other such remarks affected me so negatively.)
Rude OT, but it’s wonderful: See the update to the story about Hillary’s performance today at the Senate Armed Services committee hearing — she got a great review from Time magazine’s Jay Carney. (It’s at the top of the story.)
Hillary did wonderful today..Demonstrated LEADERSHIP as a Senator..as a Represenative of the PEOPLE..as a Presidental Candidate..who Should be Elected this Year..Who Deserves to be elected this Year..Who is Most Qualified to be Elected President this Year.. Unless you want four more Years of Republicans and John boom Boom..McCain..
or you want to take your chance with a Big Money Group that is attempting to hijack the Democrat Party ..by Promoting a slick candidate who may be the Most Radical Extremist who ever ran for President of the United states..The Potential for thaT Does Exist.. and needs to be FULLY VETTED..
Hillary should get her hands on that state department Report that Crocker prepared in 2002 called “The Perect storm”…and all tghe other reports , NIEs and Projections done on Iraq that The Defense department and Bush administartion refuse to release..
ITS OUR GOVERNMENT and OUR MONEY PAYS THE BILLS..
I really like this diary. Simple. Elegant. And to the point.
Thanks for posting this. Gave a yes to all- I also cry when I hear our National Anthem done well, when my mom, who sounds a lot like Kate Smith, sings God Bless America and during the sing a long on the Esplanade for the Fourth of July.
Guess I am both a Hillary supporter and a Yankee Doodle (for real- born on the Fourth of July!)

I agree about removing the ‘under God’ and restoring the original wording…I have a family member who does not identify as religious, and I hate that it’s even a question, “if you are an atheist are you not a full/valued American?” …to me, a particular religious view is not essential to being American. I guess right now there is just still too much defensiveness for this to be an issue, but I still think it’s a mistake.
But I loved this list. I went for all except the “tearing up” part at the pledge. I don’t tear up easy! How funny that an Obama supporter took exception to us questioning whether Obama is proud to be an American! Can’t imagine why anyone would question that ;>
