Tell Andrea Mitchell What You Think [Updated]
By SusanUnPC on April 8, 2008 at 1:09 PM in Andrea Mitchell, Hillary Clinton, MSNBC, Media, Obamedia
I don’t know. Maybe I’m over-reacting by being appalled by Andrea Mitchell’s statement. What do you think? Does what she said bother you at all? Maybe I’m just sensitive (especially since, sigh, I am a woman).
Via Media Matters:
Andrea Mitchell: Clinton’s campaign, “right now, is not the greatest example of why women should rule the world”
Summary: After noting the title of Dee Dee Myers’ book Why Women Should Rule the World while discussing with Myers the resignation of Mark Penn as Sen. Hillary Clinton’s chief campaign strategist, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell asserted: “I don’t know — this campaign, right now, is not the greatest example of why women should rule the world.”

UPDATE I: That’s not the only harmful remark that came out of Andrea Mitchell’s mouth yesterday. Let MSNBC also know about your protests of this exchange between Mitchell and WaPo reporter Anne Kornblut.
See this paragraph from my story last night, “Washington Post: Clinton Told True Tale of Woe, Says Kin [Updated]“:
On MSNBC today [April 7], Andrea Mitchell discussed the “hospital” story with Anne Kornblut, beginning with an assumption that Hillary told the story incorrectly. As she introduced Kornblut, Ms. Mitchell said the story was “NOT TRUE” (a wild assumption about a story not confirmed). Andrea Mitchell — and every other reporter who has reported with the same biased assumptions — must retract their assumptive statements and apologize to Hillary Clinton and the campaign. See also: Digby’s commentary on the Andrea Mitchell interview of Anne Kornblut in which Mitchell says that the story illustrates a “growing credibility gap” for Hillary. (Well, so much for finding out the facts before dishing up such devastating opinions.) …
NOTE: Digby’s account includes a portion of the transcript, which will infuriate you even more.
UPDATE 2: Brigitte exposes Andrea Mitchell’s comments about the Clintons’ tax returns at her terrific blog, Reflective Pundit.

OMG. My head just exploded over this one. Mrs. Greenspan needs to GO! WTF? What a demeaning thing to say about another woman! Sheesh!
I hope it doesn’t take being a woman to know how baaaaad this statement is. What a shill she is.
right now, this presidency, is not a great example of why men should rule the world.
Thanks Mrs. Greenspan.
Not just a shill, but a discredit to the rest of her sex. Quite frankly, its even worse when this sort of thing comes from another woman. Andrea Mitchell needs to rethink who she really is and what a journalist actually does. NBC needs to know that this is abosolutely unacceptable.
She should be forced to set the record straight with her own words that she lied when she claimed Hillary lied about the hospital story.
You’ve got it, Mimi …. I need to add that as an afterword to this story. Digby also covered Mitchell well on her spreading of the lies on Hillary and the hospital story.
Not only set the story straight - but forced to apologise SINCERELY to Hillary, on national TV, for her detestable behavior.
I am so angry, I am ready to organize a filing to the FCC about Mitchell’s smug behavior. Ye Gads, what do these woman in DC use for transportation - DESIGNER BROOMS????
I completely agree that Andrea Mitchell should have to set the record straight by accusing Hillary of lying about the Hospital story when Hillary told the truth.I am apalled at the way MSNBC has treated Hillary througout this whole nomination process. They are clearly in the tank for Obama. The only time I watch that channel is in the mornings because “morning Joe” is the only anchor who gives Hillary a fair break.Andrea Mitchell is not worthy of being a journalist. She only wants to make Hillary look bad.She will probably never think any woman is capable of running this country.I do not see a problem in Hillary’s campaign,I see a problem with the DNC not playing fair by disinfranchising voters of Florida and Michigan and I would be very proud to have Hillary as our 44th president.
Amen, you are absolutely correct!!!
Mitchell should be forced to set the record straight in her own words that she lied when she claimed Hillary lied about the hospital story.
Sh emight be a clumsy campaigner at times but she’s infinitely better than Bush or McCain.
I don’t think in any way shape or form Hillary is a clumsy campaigner. It is just that the Obama campaign takes every little remark she makes and tries to turn it into a hot gossip driven media narrative which the sexist media happily play along with. If its not Bosnia it is the health insurance flap. Or it is she does not care for Katrina victims or she slighted MLK with her LBJ statement. Obama’s campaign is the dirties low down campaigning I have ever seen. And with it being Democrat on Democrat it makes it much worse. It is a scorched earth strategy. And they have done a real hit job on her and have set her up to be the fall person no matter what happens. If she gets the nomination they will claim she stole it from him with her back door smoke filled room tactics and what a bad person she is, probably taking some black votes with them. If he wins the nomination then when he loses in the fall he will again blame Clinton becasue she ran a negative campaign or she did not get oit early enough. These folks are evil and shameless and I am sick and tried of them!!!!!
Sorry for the long paragraph and run on sentences and the rant. But I just have to get this out. I am so angry at what this bunch of hatchet men and women have done to the Democratic Party, Hillary, the Clintons, and the country.
Somebody needs to give BIRDBRAIN a BIRDBATH!
Seriously, have you called the Obama campaign to say this - or even Harry Reid or Dick Durbins office.
You can reach the last two Senators toll free at 800-828-0298
Good rant - now turn it into soemthing useful and target your anger where it will do some good.
I agree! Terrified about what is going to happen
if either BO or McCain get in. Will still write-in for Hillary if she doesn’t win the nomination.
At this point I’m just getting very depressed about all of this. The media is responsible for Hillary’s tarnished image. I feel such a personal sense of insult and hurt over her treatment and I know there are millions of other women who also feel this way.
I will NEVER vote for McCain or Obama if, in fact, it comes down to those two idiots being their party’s nominees.
I am furious, pained, greatly insulted and scorned.
I am furious, pained, greatly insulted and scorned.
Yes, I second that!!!!
I feel your pain, too. If Obama is the nominee, my family will stay home in NOV. The DNC needs to be punished for their incompetence, ineptness and their silence on sexism and misogyny. Four years of Mc Cain will teach the Dems to never screw the people again! We will teach them what democracy is really about!
Ok, so here’s my idea for the fall….if (and I pray day and night that he will not be) Obama is the Dem candidate, then I will write in Hillary’s name on the ballot. This way, I do not stay home and I do not vote for McCain. It’s all I can think of to do. PS I’m in Florida and I’m so sick of my vote being tossed down the drain…..
I’m a man and I feel exactly as you do. Senator Clinton and President Clinton have been treated literally with contempt by the press and by MSNBC.
Ms. Mitchell is a prime example of why women who are married to partisan Republican shills should not be given a forum on TV. (sarcasm)
Susan:
Please take a look at my blog yesterday on Mitchell’s report on Bill and Hillary Clinton’s income. She was not expressly critical but there was an undertone of indignation. This is, of course, incredible–given that her husband collects reportedly $150,000 per speech, gives many all over, and collected an $8 million advance for his book.
Was she that indignant about the fees that Reagan and Bush1 collected? As I recall St. Ronnie commanded some really impressive fees.
Brigitte, that is a great and pithy piece of writing. FULL LINK:

I’ll add this as a second update to the story. The nerve of Mitchell.
She’s Alan (Recession) Greenspan’s wife - that means she’s too stupid for words.
I can’t add anything else as this is a family-oriented blog…the B*tch!
I will be e-mailing my strongly stated letter objecting to Ms. Mitchell’s statements and demanding an on-air apology.
Thank you for succinctly summarizing the relevant information.
Why should the nasty and thuggish antics of the MSM be a surprise? after all these are the same miscreants that cheerleaded us into invading Iraq and was Bush’s stenography corps as well.
They are scum and would be right at home working for Goebbels or Pravda.
<This is what I sent to MSNBC:
I have been a loyal watcher of MSNBC and NBC for, well, forever! I especially liked Keith Olbermann, but now I have to turn him off, his sharp words against Mrs. Clinton (and anything not Obama) are painful for me to listen to. He has no one on ever to defend Mrs. Clinton and he goes on and on, ad nauseum, with his anti Clinton diatribe. It’s so below his intelligence. (I won’t even go into the fact that Keith’s really packed on the pounds and his striped suits don’t fit….that would be getting down to his level).
I had switched from CNN to MSNBC more than a year ago. Wolf Blitzer and Lou Dobbs were a bit annoying. But honestly, I find them to be more fair in their treatment of the presidential candidates than MSNBC. I have had to switch back to CNN for my politics fix, except for Morning Joe. It is obvious that Mika is an Obama girl, but she’s not so “in your face” with her point of view and Joe Scarborough is a delight.
The addition of Andrea Mitchell to MSNBC is also annoying. She comes across as half asleep and snotty. Great combination for my lunch hour. Her comments on Mrs. Clinton are so biased, she might as well be wearing an Obama t-shirt (along with Mr. Olbermann). At least with Chris Matthews I know where he stands.
The only programs I can now watch on MSNBC are Dan Abrams and Morning Joe. At least Dan’s not wearing Obama on his sleeve. I also kinda miss Tucker.
Can we please get some NEWS reporting and enough with the one sided commentary.
”
Your husband is a great example of why old men shouldn’t make economic decisions as well.
And right now, Andrea Mitchell is not the greatest example of a woman.
I have been bemoaning the statements of Ms. Mitchell for sometime on my website, The CJ Political Report.. But let’s not forget that Ms. Mitchell is a member of the NBC/MSNBC team, and we all know how unprofessional and slanted toward Obama their reporting has been. Yesterday, for instance, Chris Matthews went ahead with a segment on his show putting HRC down for “telling tall tales” on the campaign trail, this one the hospital story, which by the time of the segment had been proven to be true. Letters aren’t going to stop what is going on on the network. They have made a decision to be The Fox News of the left. It is helping their ratings, and that is all they care about. Of course, if people don’t watch, they’ll change their tune.
I have stopped watching the Obama News Network, formerly known as NBC/MSNBC, for the most part. I occasionally watch Morning Joe and Dan Abrams. Even their regular news programming is slanted to Obama. In my opinion that will end if and when Obama gets the nomination. Tde corporate masters of General Electric will pull the plug on any support of a Democratic nominee and go all out for McCain.
I do find it strange that I am often now in agreement with Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough. Politics does make for some very strange bedfellows. LOL.
I agree with themocat. I have not been waching MSNBC either. They have been so pro Obama that they have practically given the nomination to Obama, a weak man without good credentials.
Obama has done nothing for his state while serving in the state senate of Illinois. He has repeatedly lied to the American people, by saying that he was a professor, that he had no idea that his minister was a radical anti american, racist and of course, he has told many whoppers and has yet to be called down for it. He has yet to hold one meeting on the war in Afghanistan and as I understand it, that is his responsiblity. He is in this race for himself not for the American people.
Obama will not win in November, he is far too weak.
You are right on target… I too believe that Pat and Joe are trying to be objective in their comments. I have quit watching Chris Matthews, (the official Obama Cheerleader.)
MSNBC is last in ratings in the cable news dept. We should stop watching NBC NEWS with Brian Williams and the Today Show. And tell Brian, Matt and Meredith you will no longer support them or their station and tell them why. Those 2 programs get big ratings and maybe they will pay attention and stop the abuse and the inaccurate reporting.
MSNBC = PORNOGRAPHY
Andrea Mitchell is simply a porn queen!
OMG! Reading that probably spiked my blood pressure!
I’m going to have to print Andrea Mitchell face out and attach it to my dart board. Or maybe I’ll stick her photo on the bottem of my shoe.
I write letters and complain about sexism in the media so much I’ve created a form letter. I just fill in the blanks and print the thing off. Which is good because I wrote it when I was calm.

Great idea. And I can add your form letter as an update to the story. (Send me an e-mail if the form letter gets posted as a comment so I’m sure to add it to the story — susanunpc at gmail dot com .)
She not only put down Hillary, she put down all women in the world with that remark. She implied that we are too stupid and ignorant to rule. And if I recall correctly, not once but twice in the interview.
I could go on a swearing rampage myself right now. That’s how angry I feel.
Fucking Birdface!
So we have both Tweetie and Birdface on MSNBC?
Yes the two birdbrains.
That is exactly right, she put down all women, which includes herself, what a dumb ass. Seriously, does she think of this when she speaks? Ann Coulter did the same thing when ranting that women should have not been granted the right to vote, they just f everything up…
I find her disgusting. She is married to what amounts to a criminal so her integrity level isn’t too high either.
Today I go back to being just “Nag”, after being NagNancy, Nancy, and 1HorseNag. Hey, I don’t have an identity crisis, just occasional political constipation.
Anyway, everytime I look at Andrea Mitchell, I picture her with Alan Greenspan and almost throw up. Now I will have something to distract me from that ugly mental picture of her: her incredibly unprofessional lies about Hillary Clinton meant to assassinate Hillary’s character. Mitchell is certainly not weighed down or held back by such a character flaw as honesty… even when the truth is staring her in the face.
When all is said and done, Andrea will still be going home at night to that little right wing prune. Maybe that’s why she’s so mean.
Larry and Susan & Co. I found some stuff this morning that will really shock all of us Democrats. It has to do with Soros and news from the FEC, as well as something called the Shadow party inside the Democratic Party. Also, another site called stop-obama.org is unpacking more about how he is using the web plus marketing. My stuff has a lot of links and please tell Taylor Marsh, because she will know the names involved as do you two!

The press knew she told the truth yesterday but they are in the bag for the health care dollar. They also hate the Clintons. 1+1=2 Kornblut sat there and knew she had the info and just kept her mouth shut. Mitchell has alway been a hack and MSNBC should be boycotted by us all…money talks and the only thing they understand.
Perhaps Ms. Kornblut cares more about being invited to soirees at the Greenspans’ home(s) than interrupting Andrea with the truth? (I don’t know, but am making a calculated guess.)
Susan I believe the following Fed. Regulation should be invoked and MSNBC be made aware that their licence could be in jepardy should they not comply.
76.209 Fairness doctrine; personal attacks; political editorials.
A cable television system operator engaging in origination cablecasting shall afford reasonable opportunity for the discussion of conflicting views on issues of public importance.
NOTE 1: See Public Notice, “Applicability of the Fairness Doctrine in the Handling of Controversial Issues of Public Importance,” 29 FR 10415 [2 RR 2d 1901].
NOTE 2: When, during origination cablecasting of issues of public importance, an attack is made upon the honesty, character, integrity, or like personal qualities of an identified person or group, the cable television system operator must perform the notice and other requirements of 76.1612.
NOTE 3: Where a cable television system operator, in an editorial, (1) endorses or (2)opposes a legally qualified candidate or candidates, the system operator must perform the notice and other requirements of 76.1613.
OMG, I would help you disseminate this, if you want. Your research is excellent, well needed and awesome. Have you done anything with this?
Under the FCC’s definition, MSNBC isn’t a cable television system operator. The Fairness Doctrine was rescinded by the FCC.
And Mr. Andrea Mitchell’s tenure as Chairman of the Federal Reserve, which has resulted in the current financial mess in this country, isn’t the greatest example of why we should have a male chairmen of the Federal Reserve. And George Bush’s tenure as President and the Iraq disaster isn’t the greatest example of why we should have a male president. And Donald Rumsfeld’s tenure as Defense Secretary isn’t the greatest example of why we should have a male Secretary of Defense. And I could go on and on but just to make a point Andrea….
My e-mails to NBC, et al are being returned as undeliverable. Anyone else having that problem?
Thanks for letting us know.
Please pop over to Media Matters and let them know. They have the means to check into this, and get us more e-mail addresses if need be. Let us know what you find out.
Media Matters also needs to call out Keith Olbermann, or else, they are just as phony as the rest.
We need to send that miserable person a letter reminding her of all the great women leaders in this world, not to mention those throughout history. Certainly no one is going to remember some birdbrain that yacks on the nightly news. We will remember Hillary Clinton and she WILL be regarded as a pioneer in the history books. But I’ve got news for you birdhead: NO ONE WILL REMEMBER YOUR NAME AND WE WON’T TIP OUR GLASS TO YOU AT CHEERS EITHER!
Excuse me, but I’m sick of these insults from the entire media. Hillary Clinton is an exemplary woman! Don’t they realize that when they attack her, they are attacking all women?
You see ladies how far we’ve come? You see how they REALLY feel about our sex?
OUTRAGEOUS!
Thank you for letting me vent.
How much are you spending on cable every month to get nothing but propaganda? Stop watching television! Don’t allow that trash to be sent into your home. You can get your news fix elsewhere.
I’m way ahead of ya! I’m at 8 weeks and counting….
remember how andrea pushed the ‘trashed the white house and took the silverware from af1′ after the clintons left the white house; she never corrected those lies.
she’s shameless in her fealty to the plutocracy.
I keep asking where are our American women leaders? Where is Diane Feinstein? We know where Pelusa (not a typo) can be found, sniffing Obama’s underarms for inspiration.
Honestly, this is shameful.
I am writing our dear Andrea. It seems to me that she is living high on the hog partially off the sweat of our taxes since we paid for her husband’s salary as Fed.
And her husband has done more damage to our country than Hillary could ever accomplish. He is responsible for our housing mess. The removed him in time to have someone else to kick around.
Oh Feinstein is over there whispering in Lieberman’s ear. She’s a Republican in the closet.
Well, my emails are getting through as I’ve had an exchange between myself and Steve Capus for half the day. I’m working on my third reply to him. He is not a happy camper.
This is his latest reply to me, which is similar to the others that I’ve received from him today.
I’m just incredulous that MediaMatters posts something - and immediately, otherwise smart people, start emailing us the same messages over and over. Please consider the sheer absurdity of the basic charge that Andrea Mitchell, of all people, is sexist. She’s had a long, distinguished journalism career — which means nothing to MediaMatters…. All they care about is politics.

Thanks for the address. And we should also write to GE. Boycott all GE products!
NBC News management is a buddy club long overdue an overhaul.
This is the insulting aspect to this whole affair. They’re probably snickering at the water cooler about what they consider nuisance emails.
The are living in the: “let them eat cake” universe of denial.
Bastille Day is coming. Whoa is it coming….
Liked
The problem is they are still snickering at the water cooler at our rage and complaints.
I think more needs to be done. Even though letters and complaints are better than nothing. What would it take to have a lawsuit? Could we form a group to raise money for this? Are there any lawyers around who would take this on pro bono or reduced fee? This should be a discrimination suit. What about ACLU?What recourse is there to violating the fairness doctrine?
Imagine what AA organizations would be doing. Media and Obama campaign evidently figure they can do this to women and have no repercussions, since we are the “weaker sex”. Ha!!
We need something stronger. It is great that we are all so encensed; now let’s do something. Media and sexism protests throughout the country. National march?
How about calls for firing of Mathews, Mitchell, Olbermann.
It’s important for them to take us seriously and, secondly, to stop them from electing Obama. They are separate and also the same issues.
Also, Clinton should take up Mathews on his offer to have her on his college tour. Maybe bring few other strong women on with her to take him on (Elizabeth Edwards?, Debbie Wasserman Schultz? Any of the amazing AA Congresswomen supporting her?)
I would also like to see Clinton make a national speech on sexism, as Obama did on racism. I think this topic is beginning to reach people’s consciousness. Let’s keep up the talk and pressure.
It’s more than time.
I loved your idea of Mrs.Clinton giving a speech on sexism. This country is more sextist then it is racist.
Here is what I wrote to Mr. Capus =
“I’m just incredulous that MediaMatters posts something - and immediately, otherwise smart people, start emailing us the same messages over and over. Please consider the sheer absurdity of the basic charge that Andrea Mitchell, of all people, is sexist. She’s had a long, distinguished journalism career — which means nothing to MediaMatters…. All they care about is politics.”
Do you hear yourself?
Please consider the basic charge that Geraldine Ferraro, of all people, is a racist or the basic charge that Hillary Clinton is a racist. What about your journalists smearing Hillary Clinton’s professional and lifelong experience and dismissing it as irrelevant?
The issue is not that MediaMatters cares only about politics, the issue is the outrageous and inflammatory remarks coming from someone we would have otherwise considered “smart”.
First Keith, then Chris and now Andrea. Disgusting.
Not old, not poor and not uneducated and no longer a viewer of MSNBC!
OK, I just sent my letter to that email.
Thanks!
Mandy
I barely even know what to say about this. I have given up on NBC/MSNBC anyway, an dI have TOLD them so (though I may have to watch Morning Joe, if he keeps up his Hillary crush), but this seems WAY beyond the pale. Coming on the heels of her despicable “reporting” on the whole hospital story really frames Mitchell’s intentions.
You know, women grow up in this sexist society, too, and just like many LGBT have internalized homphobia, so do women with sexism/misogyny. How sad, truly sad, that someone like Mitchell even has the opportunity to display that misogyny on national television. Wow…
Here is what I just sent to MSNBC & NBC, I borrowed a line from one of you, hope you don’t mind.

Re:
Andrea Mitchell: Clinton’s campaign, “right now, is not the greatest example of why women should rule the world.”
This is the final straw concerning the coverage of the Clinton campaign by Andrea Mitchell. She is supposed to be a journalist who is impartial and is reporting the news of this campaign, NOT giving her rather prejudicial opinions about what she thinks is going on within the campaign.
Andrea Mitchell — and every other reporter who has reported with the same biased assumptions — must retract their assumptive statements and apologize to Hillary Clinton and the campaign.
We no longer have real REPORTERS in the main street media, they are ALL acting like PUNDITS, trying to skew their opinions into the public at large, and influence this election for their favorite candidate.
Well, last time I looked it was the PEOPLE who elected their candidates for President NOT the media. Keep your opinions to yourself (unless you are a pundit, then you have the right to spew your stupid opinions)and just REPORT.
All of your reporters need to to go back to a remedial journalism class to brush up on some stuff they have forgotten. IMPARTIALITY!

Andrea…
Just because you are IN THE TANK with Obama doesn’t mean you have to be sexist…
If MSNBC was doing bad in ratings, I wouldn’t assume that all woman journalists like you should be blamed for it.
SUCH POOR JUDGEMENT IN WORDS.
Another example of the fair media we are dealing with. I thought Andrea Mitchell was supposed to be a serious journalist, just lost any respect I had for her.
Judging with what is going on with this administration seems to me that the ones that can’t rule the world are the men including Alan Greenspan.
Adita, the man hater, strikes again!
I’ve often found it fascinating that Andrea Mitchell has gotten away for so long with being the wife of a right-wing fanatic, all along successfully posing as an “unbiased observer”. Well, maybe not anymore!
Well, here’s my letter to MSNBC. I was a bit steamed when I wrote it.
=====================================================
I am writing concerning Ms. Mitchell and the decidely anti-Clinton slant to her
reporting.
Both today and yesterday Ms. Mitchell made snide remarks against Sen. Clinton to
dissuade listners from voting for her in the Democratic Primary.
Yesterday, Ms. Mitchell, while interviewing a Washington Post journalist,
accused Sen. Clinton about lying a story concerning a young woman dying because
she could not afford her $100 co-pay to enter the hospital. As I’m sure you
know, Sen. Clinton was correct. Where is the apology from Ms. Mitchell?
Today, while interviewing Dee Dee Myers, Ms. Mitchell twice made snide remarks
that based on the Clinton campaign there is no evidence that a women should
rule (a country).
What kind of a news program are you running? What kind of idiot reporters do
you hire? When you interview them, do you check for pro-Obama bias? Do you
check to ensure that they have a sexist misogynisitc streak and will either
insult or call Sen. Clinton names while on the air? Do you check to ensure that
they don’t have an ounce of professionalism in their bones? Once they meet all
these requirements, then they are hired?
And Ms. Mitchell, or should I say Mrs. Greenspan, has no business criticizing
others after her husband worked so hard to destroy the US economy and put us
into our current recession. As they say, “People in glass houses shouldn’t
throw stones”.
Those who can do, those who can’t report the news. Or, in the case of Mrs. Greenspan, marry it.
Was this on the same day that Mitchell’s husband, former Fed chief Alan Greenspan, publicly endorsed Senator John McCain? It’s becoming impossible to find anyone without visible bias these days in the television media. If it weren’t for the Wolf Blitzers and Anderson Coopers, we’d lose heart altogether that there is no one left who can show political neutrality while reporting the news. I find this highly unprofessional and unworthy of Andrea Mitchell; hopefully, she’ll see that and make it right, regardless of which candidate she is (privately) supporting.
Dear MSNBC,
Andrea Mitchell is the greatest example of an obama chauvinist reporter. Please fire her, so she can spend time with John McCain and her husband Alan Greenspan the bubblemaker. And while I am asking- please tell Chris Matthews to shut his big pie hole.
Thank you for your time-
I’m trying to figure out how a respected female journalist would make such a blatantly misogynist statement. Andrea Mitchell has joined Chris Matthews and his ilk at MSNBC, pretty sad.
And by the way, Hillary Clinton fired Penn because he expressed his own trade views which did not agree with her own. There was never any doubt that Clinton’s view differed from Penn. Obama was telling voters that he didn’t agree with NAFTA while at the same time he had his advisers telling Canadian officials the exact opposite. Clinton was doing what a strong boss does. Obama was LYING to voters. This is not “splitting hairs,” these are entirely different situations.
I argue with your term “well respected” snark. it’s true, I think she is a hack and has been for a long time, well before now!
Andrea Mitchell is so eat up with her status and celebrity, she’s incapable of being a journalist. But the truth is that Andrea–along with her spouse–have contributed to the new “gilded age” which they suckle for all its worth, while millions starve, go without health care, and lose their homes. Alan lies to the world about the economy, while Andrea lies to the country about the politicians.
They’re shameless courtesans to an age of empire. They are no better than the Morgans and the Astors and the rest, in their own era of corrupt greed and false class.
And, in future generations, they will be looked upon with the same level of horrified contempt.
Andrea Mitchell seems to have her own agenda and I she should not be allowed on the air any more. Her feelings for Senator Clinton are quite clear and they have no business being part of the story. This is not fair journalism. This woman is a disgrace and she should be taken off the air immediately.
Andrea, I used to think you were on top of the real issues in this country. I guess MSNBC has bought you off like the rest of the jerks on this channel. All of you slobber all over Obama and it makes me sick. Hillary Clinton has more grit and promise for America, in her little finger, than all the nasty folks insisting on her withdrawal combined. God help “US” all if Obama does get the nomination. I am truly fearful for our country, for the first time in my adult life, because of the shape we are in at this time in America. The task is far too great for a rookie senator to successfully address all the tough challenges we face. He, my fellow Americans, is not up to the task. Hillary on the other hand is the only candidate left in the Presidential campaign who is up to this daunting challenge. I suggest we all step back and look at where we are in this country and proceed onward with this nominating process. I am ashamed of women like you who have deserted your own gender over jealousy. Hillary will have her day with the MSM. Remember, paybacks are hell.
Oh, I thought Andrea Mitchell was Alan’s Greenspan’s ugly little brother.
Are you sure it’s a female?
It doesn’t have breasts.
It’s awfully ugly both inside and out whatever it is!
Andrea Mitchell’s appearance is fine; it’s her attitude that needs some work.
For her to put down HRC after what her husband did to the economy! What noive.
No, she always looks half asleep. I want her to take a nap before she comes on the news (or whatever it is she does)!
I think; therefore, I’m not Andrea Mitchell.
I think Andrea Mitchell IS Alan Greenspan IN DRAG!!
I think you are right.
Why is she called Andrea Mitchell if she is married to Alan Greenspan..??
Why Not Andrea Greenspan..?? Is she ashamed..or is it VANITY…???
Andrea Mitchell’s comment about women ruling the world was so Victorian, we are amazed. Its not just ‘one’ comment here and there, its all of the negative comments propagated by MSNBC regarding our first female candidate. Now folks, let’s shift this from gender to race and see how it plays: When Obama’s financial advisor had to quit or when he got in hot water over his pastor - what if Andrea said: “I don’t know — this campaign, right now, is not the greatest example of why an African American man should rule the world.” No, We didn’t think that would play,,,,, Dan and Kathy Kraft
I was once on an elevator when that nasty thing got on, with her nose in the air and swanky sunglasses. Looked the other way to make sure that no one would dare speak to her, in the unlikely even that their stomach settle from the experience.
Whatever else is going on with her, Andrea Martin is showing her rampant inexperience as a manager. When people you trust screw up, you look at the person, the problem, and you take action. That’s exactly what Sen. Clinton did. Moreover, she did it decisively and right away. That shows her STRENGTHS as a manager.
And, Andrea, the comment about “not the greatest example…” is not only a slap at a great woman but all women—yourself included, M’Dear. In trying to please the boys at MSNBC, believe me, you’ve only given them ammunition to laugh louder at you than they’ll ever laugh at Sen. Clinton.
And you Ms. Mitchell are a perfect example of
why they never will.
Guys…
I am just disgusted… I am a young woman… and this is my 1st presidentail election… and I just heard the comments by Andrea Mitchelle….WTF??????
I am going to write this stupid airhead Ms. Mitchell…what are the the new emails for NBC????????
… I’m also going to let them know…I WILL NO LONGER WATCH THEM!!!!!!
This is the LAST STRAW for me and my mom and my sisters!
This issue is significant… But let’s get back to the REAL issue. The failure of MSM to “reveal” BHO for what he really is and their vile and corrupt sexist treatment of Senator Clinton… This just distracts us and is one of obama’s ploys.
Mrs. Greenspan, Chris Matthews, David Shuster, and the morning “clowns” should all be fired for their remarks.
It is constant Hillary bashing day after day. Their comments are crude and should not be tolerated.
I don’t hear anything about Obama’s relationships with Ayers, Rezko, Wright, etc., etc.
Is that because most of the “crew” have family members working for Obama??
Oh dear Andrea Mitchell…if I were as ugly as hell as she is and married to someone 20 years my senior who doesn’t exactly qualify as Sean Connery, I’d be bitter, too.
Snark alert.!
Hillary married Bill Clinton.
Andrea married Alan Greenspan.
Which one would you rather snuggle up with? Just asking.
Bill Clinton, without a doubt.
My Wife..
Misogyny is not news.
Have not other campaigns recognized tactical errors. Maybe John MCain is not qualified to be a leader. Or maybe the Y chromosome explains changes. And while we’re at it, foreign experience for US policy made while a child living in Indonesia. I don’t think so. And, why did Obama go to Pakistan while in college? Not your usual college experience. To see the sights? or the madrasas?
Nona, for Hillary and proud
I missed Andrea’s remarks because when she comes on I fast forward to the story. She’s been biased for a long time. She should have to apologize..on air ..for her mis-reporting.
I hope advertisers realize we’re consumers and the ultimate protest is avoidance of their products. No advertisers for these programs might help management change their practices.
Is there a mandatory retirement age at NBC? There SHOULD be for Andrea Mitchell. Her comments to her guest,DeeDee Myers, were insulting, outrageous and demeaning for women everywhere. But what would you expect from a woman who is still a roving reporter at her age…and married to a man who obviously taught her where to walk?
The standards of journalism have to be awfully low at NBC these days. Andrea Mitchell wasn’t even pretending to be objective. Nor, was she even bothering to be factual. Her opinions are a pitiful example of a shallow person being given a microphone. Whatever she is earning, Andrea Mitchell is woefully overpaid.
The problem isn’t just MSNBC, it is every news network for some reason Obama can do or say or have ties with any one and it is ok and swept under the media rug. The “Upper crust” of the Dem. party wants Obama so they will continue to try to push Hillary out of the race. The media has chosen Obama so they will continue to spin EVERYTHING way out of proportion when it comes to Hillary. MSNBC crew can’t understand why the polls are so wrong, it’s because Americans don’t always let the media make up our minds! Some of us can read and do our own research and figure out who the fake really is. I am an avid veiwer. My five year old knows more about this election than most adults. It’s not ok to vote for Hillary because your a woman too. It’s not ok to vote Obama because your also african american. That would be like voting for McCain because your over 70. Do your homework, make up your own mind, and for gods sake GO VOTE!
Andrea Mitchell has continuously been unfair to Hillary Clinton. She, along with almost all of NBC/MSNBC reporters, have long ago lost their credibility. They cannot hide their sneers and smirks when they mention Hillary’s name. No matter. They have not been able to knock Hillary down. She just proves, time and time again to the country, that she is a tremedously tough fighter, with strong character. Hillary’s supporters fight harder and harder for her.
Hillary Clinton is a special person. She has a rare combination of attributes: strength of character, leadership, compassion, sound judgment, experience and brilliance. The biased pundits cannot diminish someone of Hillary’s quality.
I do think that Andrea Mitchell should resign and go on a very long trip with her husband. She is sooooo pro Obama that it isn’t even funny. I have stopped watching MSNBC, NBC, ABE and all talk shows giving Obama praise. Let me say this: if Obama gets the democratic nomination, I will be voting for McCain. That will be the best anyone can do under the circumstances. But Pa’s turn is coming up and I’m sure Hillary will take this state.
Perhaps someone should stick a tampon into Andrea Mitchell’s yapping maw.
Shame on you Andrea Mitchell. Shame on you Keith and Chris. This MSNBC assault on journalism is worse than FOX. Senator Clinton is honorable, capable, dedicated, strong and admirable. She could easily be the best president ever. All thes Rovian Democrats need to re-examine how they came to crucify the best couple in American history. Senator Clintons opponent in the party is, by the way, extremely unqualified for the job. Carter was a much better president than he’ll ever be, and Carter was a weak president (though a great man).
It’s time for America to give Senator Clinton credit for the incredible woman, leader and downright good person she is.
We should all be outraged to think that someone like andrea mitchell would make such a remark about women leaders in a campaign and be snide about it!

Andrea, Chris, Keith and other obamamaniacs,
You guys are so disgusting that I can even describe. You are don’t come even close to what great personality hillary is. How dare you pass judgement on her?? First you critize her as first lady because she was very active in politics and now you disqualify her saying she was only a first lady. Do you have amnesia or do you think we are stupid. I have stopped watching you and most likely you will be going bankrupt soon. since you guys are a bunch of arrogant a******** your end seems near. There will be consequences for this negative movement against one of the strongest and most brilliant women in the history who is very qualified to be the President of USA. Obama is such a hypocrite and corrupt and so is the deomcratic party at national and local levels. You guys are such a losers that you fail to cover the irregularities and fraud that have occured in all caucus states that has made OBama in lead. Instead you waste your and public time in bashing Hillary. Shame on you! I have sent emails to media to cover the caucus problems here inn Texas but not heard anything. The reason being the party officials at local levels and the media being in tank with Obama but remember their is justice in the world of God and no matter how hard you try you will meet with failure even if you get Obama elected. Here are the details about Caucus in Texas where Hillary won the primary but Obama got more delegates through fraudulent caucus.
Here is the details..
I am from Texas and we have the famous Texas two step process. Hillary won the primary and Obama won the caucus.. Ever wonder why?? Because of fraud and corruption in the local county democratic party leaders who are Obama supporters.
I am a first time voter so I was very excited to be part of this political process. Volunteered to be precinct secretary and also member of Rules and tabulation committee. The caucus or the precinct convention is the worst way to elect a nominee. In my county the 98% of the precinct convention rampant of irregularities such as voter disenfranchisement(of course Hillary supporters were the victims) voter intimidation and breaking of the Rules. Hillary supporters filed lot of challenges as per the rules but they were all rejected based on trivialities. All Obama delegates were seated while breaking /bending the convention rules. I know because I was part of the committee which made rules after the fact on precinct convention so that delegates are seated and county convention doesn’t implode with hundreds of challenges.
As part of the tabulation committee at county conventions, I was asked to tabulate the old result of precinct convention (which I found out later that the sheets given to us were from precinct convention) and not the County convention. This is so fraudulent, I cannot even begin to describe. I have sent emails to CNN and other media outlets to cover this, I have begged them to cover this fraudulent caucus process but no one is listening. Obama is such a hypocrite. He is playing the old politics under the banner of Change. Unfortunately Obama supporters can’t see it. The reason that all this fraud is overlooked in Texas especially in Collin county is because the county chair and secretary is Obama supporters. They pretend to be nuetral but are most certainly biased. I think I am going to report this to FOX to see if they are interested.
I am not going to vote for Obama in November because he would have won it wrongly and I really do not care for the democratic party since it is full of corruption.
are you for real?
Sonali,
If you sincerely believe that there was inappropriate behavior in favor of one candidate, I’d suggest that you contact the attorney for the other candidate’s campaign. I also suggest you look at filing a challenge before the state convention in Texas; the challenge can be filed 16 days before the convention. Any voter can file the challenge. But if you have facts the support your contention, please, please contact the campaign that you believe experienced disenfranchisment before the state convention; ask to speak to the campaign’s attorney for your area. This sort of issue is too complicated for a news outlet to pursue.
My experience as a delegate in Texas was illuminating. It was thrilling to meet so many folks, and it was disheartening to be threatened and intimated. My Precinct Chair and Delegation Chair was an Obama delegate; she was not professional; she was not neutral.
In the Texas county caucus, if you file what is called a “challenge,” — nasty word — you have to notify the Delegation Chair and each individual by email or mail. I filed a challenge because the Precinct Chair sent in an incorrect number for Obama
Delegates and several Obama delegates/alternates did not have voter ID numbers associated with the precinct in which they voted. I complied with the Dem. Party rules for filing the “challenge.” I subsequently received a threatening email from one of the individuals and the Delegation Chair/Precinct Chair took steps that were not professional.
The Precinct Chair’s unprofessional comments to me played into the Obama Delegation Captain’s attempt during the caucus to force me to pull down my request for the Parlimentarian. I had a right to ask for a ruling. Neverthess, the Obama Captain pulled me aside, got nose to nose; told me to pull down the request and told me he “googled” me, knew where I lived and what I did for a living. If I hadn’t been threatened by bigger and tougher bullies than this twig of a fellow, I very well might have backed down.
The Credentials Committee, frankly, was inadequate. They told me the Obama Delegate number was corrected and to withdraw my challenge. The number was not corrected. They did not confirm that the challenged delegates had properly signed “Statement of Residences,” which my challenge asked for. And this county’s Dem Party’s advise to the Credential Committee literally changed the rules for filing a Challenge! Additionally, this county’s advise to folks for filing a challenge repeatedly was inaccurate; consequently, so many folks filed what they thought was a proper “challenge,” only to discover that their emails were in fact not properly filed “challenges.”
My comment to Texas Dem Party Chairman, when he sent out his PR statement about not verifying caucus voters, is that he is acting like Clayton Williams who infamously, during his campaign against Ann Richards, said that rain was like rape and one should lie back and enjoy it. (I hope I don’t offend anyone by quoting Williams.)
You gotta a beef, call the campaign and ask to speak to your area’s attorney.
Sonali - did you report this to the HRC campaign? I know that they did have a link on their website for reporting voting irregularities, I’m not sure if it’s still there, but if it is you might want to report this if you haven’t already. If not you might just call their headquarters.
I just sent a message to NBC that stated the following. I hope it is read by someone in management.

Dear Sir,
Andrea Mitchell’s recent comments about Hillary Clinton having a “growing credibility gap” were disturbing to me. In a time of a very close and heated Democratic nominating race, irresponsible comments such as the one that Andrea made, can have lasting implications. Hillary Clintons’ story about the tragic death of a pregnant mother has been proven to be true, whereas Andrea Mitchell’s assertions about the story being a lie have now been proven to be false. Andrea owes Mrs. Clinton an on-air apology. This was lazy reporting by Andrea. If she doesn’t provide an apology, then it will only confirm the “growing credibility gap” in NBC’s reporting.
Respectfully,
I totally agree, that Andrea needs to issue an apology, and examine her reasons for cont. to work, since she should be home with her ailing husband.
To paraphrase - and shorten - a statement made by Madeleine Albright sometime last year: There’s a special place in hell for creatures like Andrea Mitchell.
Andrea Mitchell you follow the disgraceful behavior of Chris Matthews, Rachael M. and Keith O. I am sick of this slanted Pro Obama news network.- your absolutely vile treatment of Sen. Clinton has prompted me to begin contacting all of your advertisers. I will let them know - as long as the support the Pro Obama Smash Clinton networks of MSNBC and NBC my family and I will not purchase their products. I ENCOURAGE ALL - STOP BUYING PRODUCTS ADVERTISED ON MSNBC AND NBC UNTIL THESE ANCHORS ARE FIRED.
How can I boycott their advertisers? I don’t need Viagra, Ciallis or Boniva. I don’t have heart disease, asthma, allergies, dry eyes, I don’t have restless leg syndrome and I don’t need help getting around the house in a scooter. Nor do I need a reverse mortgage. Just turn them off….
Why doesn’t MSNBC retract their inappropriate statements re: Hillary? Mrs. Greenspan you should offer an apology for your not checking out the story properly. What Hillary said is the truth, what you said is a lie.
Shame on you, Andrea and all the others who are trying to crucify Hillary.
CNN retracted what they said.
Whatever you say, Obama will never be elected President. I can not vote for such an arrogant person. We already have an arrogant person in the White House, excuse me, two, Bush and Cheney.
FYI: A letter sebt to Mr. Capus:
Mr. Capus,
Recently, Mr. Phil Griffin, head of MSNBC, indicated that MSNBC and NBC News are basically one and the same. Simultaneously, MSNBC announced two new shows with Andrea Mitchell and David Gregory; the announcement solidified the view that what MSNBC does is a reflection of NBC News.
I recognize that television news executives must be mindful of viewership, including viewership statistics, all the while attempting to adhere to accuracy and to live in the Parthenon of journalism, “unbiased reporting.” My view is that NBC’s need to claim certain viewership statistics has cannibalized it’s brain, heart and hands that held onto “unbiased reporting.”
Our presidential campaign has called into question issues involving racism and sexism.
MSNBC’s actions appears to be sexist, racist and politically biased; and therefore, arguably, by extension, NBC News is sexist, racist and politically biased. Let’s take a recent example in which Andrea Mitchell commented that Sen. Clinton’s campaign is not a testament to Dee Dee Meyer’s book title, Why Women Should Rule. First, the title of the book is ludicrous. Second, if the book title was “Why Afro-Americans Should Rule,” and Ms. Mitchell indicated that an Afro-American’s presidential race was not a testament to support the book’s title, her comments would have been condemned by the network. Interestingly, both MSNBC and NBC are using Prof. Dyson as an expert commentator, even though his book urges Afro-American women to accept the sexist “ho” language of rap music. I seem to recall that MSNBC fired Mr. Don Imus for a “ho” comment.
I used to watch Mr. Chris Mathews’ MSNBC show as well as his NBC Sunday show which airs at 6:30 AM in my time zone. But both shows became nothing but rants against candidates Mr. Mathews didn’t like, including Sen. Clinton; and his shows became nothing but spittle-laden kisses for the candidates he did like. The shows weren’t thought provoking; they were mind numbing. I can appreciate that Mr. Mathews appears to have a large ego, like all of us; and, like anyone in the television/print media business, he wants to be influential. But Mr. Mathews is like a Luella Parsons — a caricature with floppy big hats. (Jon Stewart’s diss of Mathews when Mathews appeared to pitch his book said volumes.)
I used to watch “Countdown.” I thought the audacity of Keith Olberman, even dressed in his “Guys and Dolls” gangster-style pinstripe suits, was interesting. And then he, too, latched onto a programming scenario that insisted upon negative Sen. Clinton stories. The programming consisted of bash Clinton and bash Coulter and bash OReilly.
I also heard Ms. Mitchell as well as “Morning Joe” hosts repeatedly comment that the Clinton so-called “hospital story” contributed to the “credibility gap” for Sen. Clinton; conversely, there was very little commentary/publicity when the story was proven true by the Washington Post. Interestingly, the same lack of coverage about the truth of this story was evidenced by Fox Network. Since Fox is going after a particular viewership, without any thought of objectivity, I’ll assume that NBC and MSNBC is going after a particular viewership with the same absence of consideration for “objectivity.”
Since you and Mr. Griffin are now tied at the hip —MSNBC and NBC are essentially one and the same — and MSNBC eschews adherence to objectivity and demonstrates an habitual aversion to insisting that its hosts refrain from exhibiting sexism, then I have to conclude that the network has embraced the era of “penny newspapers” that never, never clothed their publications in the seriousness of “objectivity.” These publications were biased, and sometimes salacious, soap-boxes. Fox Cable embraced this approach; apparently, NBC and MSNBC has embraced the approach as it attempts to vie for viewers.
I don’t know if your approach will fail or succeed for your network. For me, it failed. I don’t watch MSNBC or NBC anymore.
I started writing a letter to nbc to vent about Andrea Mitchell, but I got a bit carried away! Here it is (I sent it to Phil Griffin, Steve Capus and letters@msnbc.com and none of them have bounced back - yet!
Could she be any more blatantly against Hillary Clinton? During an interview with Dee Dee Myers, which I think was supposed to have been about Dee Dee’s book, somehow Andrea Mitchell managed to bash on Senator Clinton - AGAIN!!!! It’s obvious to the world that NBC and the rest of the MSM don’t want Senator Clinton to be nominated for POTUS; no matter what she does your so-called “reporters” rip her to shreds! For goodness sake what gives you all the right to tear this woman apart? Why are you all so vicious to her? She has had the guts to run for the highest office in the land even though well before she decided to run she knew that she would have been a target, but I’m sure that even she couldn’t have even dreamt of just how targeted she was going to be and how vicious “reporters” (i.e. Chris “I get a tingle running up my leg” Matthews)! Please try to keep your “reporters” on a leash and have them just report “facts” - such as Obama’s non-record of over 129 “present” votes while in Illinois State Senate; his “boneheaded” mistakes of pushing the wrong button when he actually did manage to cast a vote; his flip-flopping to suit whomever his audience is at the time; his “cheating little kid in school” ways of always waiting to hear what Senator Clinton says when it comes to policy then basically repeating what she says - except of course for the vote on Iraq - oh wait - he COULDN’T vote on Iraq because he wasn’t a US Senator then, but wait again - he did say in his book The Audacity of Hope that he WASN’T SURE HOW HE WOULD HAVE VOTED given the information that Senators Clinton, McCain and all the other US Senators had at the time - oh wait again - he DID keep voting to FUND the war he is SO MUCH AGAINST; his inability to call even one meeting on Afghanistan because he’s been too busy campaining for POTUS; his stand on NAFTA where he’s only against it when he’s speaking to the people of Ohio and other states that have been affected negatively by NAFTA, because his aide told the Canadians that was only campaign rhetoric; his little trip to Kenya to support his murdering cousin Odinga; his mis-statements about being conceived because of the march on Selma which happened four years AFTER he was born; that it was because of the Kennedy’s that his father got out of Kenya (or whatever!); and, I won’t even mention Rezko, Wright, Michelle, Emil Jones, Ayers - I could go on and on (as I’m sure you have guessed by now) but I will end this now by asking that you please report only the facts for all three candidates - or at least, if Obama is the nominee give him fair warning of what is heading his way, because we all know that in November once the MSM have finished with him it will make the tornadoes that ripped through Atlanta look like a little spring breeze!
Thank you!
P.S. Ask Andrea if SHE would like to run for President in 2012, I’m sure that she would love to get the same treats that Senator Clinton has received during this campaign!
I don’t understand what Hillary Clinton has done to the worker’s @ MSNBC,for all of them to dislike her,all but joe dislike her why is that?
[...] ugly little brother. …. How dare you pass judgement on her?? First you critize her as …http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/04/08/tell-andrea-mitchell-what-you-think/Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Maestro: Greenspan&aposs Fed And The … … than against anything [...]
Id really like to fuck Andrea Mitchell
