About: Larry C. Johnson is a former analyst at the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, who moved subsequently in 1989 to the U.S. Department of State, where he served four years as the deputy director for transportation security, antiterrorism assistance training, and special operations in the State Department's Office of Counterterrorism. He left government service in October 1993 and set up a consulting business. He currently is the co-owner and CEO of BERG Associates, LLC (Business Exposure Reduction Group) and is an expert in the fields of terrorism, aviation security, and crisis and risk management, and money laundering investigations. Johnson is the founder and main author of No Quarter, a weblog that addresses issues of terrorism and intelligence and politics. NoQuarterUSA was nominated as Best Political Blog of 2008.[1] He has worked as a private consultant on issues of international terrorism and security for the U.S. Government and private companies. Johnson has appeared as a consultant and commentator in many major newspapers and news programs.[2]

[edit]Background
Larry Johnson moved to Washington, D.C. in 1979 to begin work on a Ph.D. at the American University. Although he completed successfully all coursework and comprehensive exams, he did not write a dissertation. In 1978 and in 1983-85 he worked in Latin America on community development projects as a community organizer. Returning to the United States in 1985 he joined the Central Intelligence Agency, thanks in part to a letter of recommendation from Republican Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) that helped to "open doors" for him at the Agency.[3] Johnson entered on duty at the CIA in September 1985 and was a classmate of Valerie Plame. Every member of that class was undercover. After a year in the Career Trainee program, which included a stint with the Afghan Task Force, Johnson was assigned as an analyst in the Middle America Caribbean Division in the Latin American Affairs Office of the Directorate of Intelligence. He received two Exceptional Performance awards and was promoted ultimately to Senior Regional Analyst for Central America.
Johnson remained undercover in the CIA until October 1989, when he resigned from the CIA and started a new job in the Office of Counter Terrorism at the Department of State. Johnson played an instrumental role in launching the Terrorism Rewards program international advertising campaign (working with Diplomatic Security officers Brad Smith and Michael Parks). [4] Johnson also was involved in a variety of crisis management response operations, including the release of hostages from Lebanon and liaison with the Pan Am 103 families. He left government service in October 1993 and started his own business as a consultant.
After leaving government service, Johnson became a frequent guest on many major television news shows when a question of terrorism came up. He was first interviewed by CNN following the capture of Carlos the Jackal. Johnson subsequently appeared on CNN, ABC's Nightline, CBS, the BBC, MSNBC, the Jim Lehrer News Hour, NBC, and NPR. In December of 1999, for example, Johnson was hired by NBC to serve as its terrorist expert for the Y2000 and was in Time Square with Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric ("a lot of fun and the best way to see in the New Year"). Johnson also was hired in January 2002 as a Fox News Analyst and remained under contract until February 2003.
Since 1994 a significant focus of Johnson's consulting work has been with the U.S. military special operations forces in scripting and conducting military counter terrorism exercises. He traveled under orders from the U.S. military to Iraq in May 2006 to work on a short term project.
A registered Republican who supported President Bush in 2000, Johnson became a strong critic of the Bush administration in May 2003 for its conduct of the war in Iraq and, a few months later, for its role in the outing of CIA operative Valerie Plame.[5] He was also featured in the 2004 political documentary Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism. Since Robert Novak's controversial disclosure of Valerie Plame as a CIA operative in July 2003, Johnson has contributed to public discourse on intelligence matters, often sparking further controversy. He has been interviewed by both the mass media and the alternative media and published commentaries on a variety of issues, including the Plame affair, the controversy concerning Mary McCarthy, and the resignation of Porter Goss as Director of Central Intelligence.

[edit]1996
In 1996, Johnson noted that terrorism worldwide was on the decline. "Terrorist incidents [both internationally and in the US] have fallen to levels not seen since the 1970s. Whether measured by the number of incidents, the number of fatalities, or the number of groups, raw statistics demonstrate that the level of terrorist violence has declined since the mid-1980s. In fact, the evidence suggests terrorism was more widespread and deadly 10 years ago."[6]
He also wrote an op-ed piece for the New York Times suggesting that the newer and more deadly terrorist threat to the U.S. was embodied by "networks of terrorists, mostly foreign, working within its borders." Exemplifying this threat was Ramzi Yousef, one of the masterminds behind the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center. In the article, Johnson suggests that enhanced cooperation between intelligence agencies, particularly the FBI and CIA, is mandatory to meet the growing threat of terror networks.[7]
[edit]1998
In 1998, Johnson argued that while overall terrorism was declining, the threat from bin Laden and al-Qaeda should be the focus of American counterterrorism policy:
The nature of the threat posed by Bin Ladin is highlighted by my final chart, number 7. Osama Bin Ladin and individuals associated with him have killed and wounded more Americans than any other group. This chart also illustrates that groups such as Hamas and the Tamil Tigers (LTTE) prior to 1998 have killed more foreigners in the anti-US terrorist attacks. If we take into account the bombings of the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, Osama's status as the most lethal terrorist is certain.[8]
In addition, he told USA Today that bin Laden had participated in "virtually every major attack of terrorism against the United States" in the 1990s. Johnson underlined the threat posed by bin Laden, saying that he was possessed by "hatred and craziness." If left unanswered, "he would continue to terrorize Americans around the world. He has no compunction about killing women and children. He's a complete egalitarian in his murderous attitude."[9]
[edit]1999
In an interview with PBS's Frontline for its 1999 program, Hunting bin Laden, Johnson discussed Osama bin Laden.[10] According to Johnson, Americans had "tended to make Osama bin Laden sort of a superman in Muslim garb." "Actually," he continues, "Osama bin Laden, in my view, represents more of a symptom of a problem, and the problem is this: the Saudi Arabian government, not just Osama bin Laden but many people in Saudi Arabia, have been sending money to radical Islamic groups for years." Johnson continued:
When you look at who's killed Americans in the last 10 years, the individuals he's supported and backed--I'm basing that upon the initial information that's been released in the indictments and conversations with others in the intelligence communities--Osama bin Laden has been the one killing Americans. No other terrorist group in the world has been out killing Americans except for Osama bin Laden.... Osama bin Laden remains out there as the one really targeting us. So, we recognize that he's the threat. He's serious about wanting to kill Americans, but as long as he's in Afghanistan, as long as he doesn't have access to a cell phone, as long as he can't just hop on a plane and travel wherever he wants without fear of being arrested, his ability to plan and conduct terrorist operations is extremely limited. We have to recognize [that] he would like to do a lot of damage. He would like to kill Americans, but wanting to is different from being able to, having the full capabilities in place.[11]
In the interview, Johnson doubted the ability of members of bin Laden's organization to plan and put their lives on the line:
There's not another Ali or Mustafa out there at this point and Osama bin Laden in my view has not been a very effective organizer or leader. He talks a great game and puts out terrific threats as far as stirring the passions in the United States and maybe firing up the imaginations of some young Muslims throughout the world. But when push comes to shove, can he get a group of people who are together who will say: we are going to plan an operation, we're going to put our lives on the line, we're going to go out and try and kill people and we don't care what the consequence is? It hasn't happened.[12]
Frontline asked:
[Is it] ... fair to say what you're saying is that the president of the United States, his national security advisor, his deputy national security advisor for counter-terrorism, are basically blowing smoke [about the danger posed by bin Laden] and his followers]?
Johnson responded:
They're grossly exaggerating the problem. They are hyping it. They shouldn't be talking about rising terrorism. Instead of saying "terrorism's rising," it's not. "Terrorism is spreading," it's not. "More people are dying from terrorism," not the case. But what they should be saying is, "There's one individual out there that really doesn't like us, and he's made it his mission in life to kill Americans, and we've gotta deal with him." But we need to have a voice of reason in that process instead of putting ourselves out crying wolf, because this is essentially what's taking place right now. They call it the administration that cries wolf.[12]
[edit]2000
Johnson co-authored an article in 2000 with Milt Bearden which focused on the threat posed by al-Qaeda specifically, rather than terrorism trends in general. Beardon and Johnson note that new information emerging about the bombings at Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 points to the threat posed by Imad Mugniyah and Osama Bin Laden will require "a coordinated policy that will employ a full range of covert, clandestine, diplomatic, and military operations," concluding:
The Clinton Administration has shot its bolt on the terrorist problem with small effect, and no last minute show of force will change the record. A new administration can start afresh with a more sharply defined set of terrorism goals – Mughniyeh and bin Laden and their protectors for starters – and bring the full, coordinated force of American diplomatic, military, and intelligence capabilities to bear on the problem.[13]
[edit]2001
After Johnson's testimony to the special forum at the U.S. Senate, Gary J. Schmitt, executive director and CEO of the Project for the New American Century, refers in the Daily Standard (blog) to an op-ed piece Johnson wrote two months prior to the 9/11 attacks, claiming that Johnson argued that the US had little to fear from terrorism.[14]
In an editorial entitled "The Declining Terrorist Threat," published in the New York Times on 10 July 2001, Johnson says:
Judging from news reports and the portrayal of villains in our popular entertainment, Americans are bedeviled by fantasies about terrorism. They seem to believe that terrorism is the greatest threat to the United States and that it is becoming more widespread and lethal. They are likely to think that the United States is the most popular target of terrorists. And they almost certainly have the impression that extremist Islamic groups cause most terrorism.... None of these beliefs are based in fact.... While terrorism is not vanquished, in a world where thousands of nuclear warheads are still aimed across the continents, terrorism is not the biggest security challenge confronting the United States, and it should not be portrayed that way.[15]
Ten days after the 9/11 attacks, after quoting the above passage, Timothy Noah concludes a post in his "Chatterbox" feature at Slate: "Johnson's analysis, we now see, was bold, persuasive, and 100 percent wrong."[16] Johnson defended himself against such attacks:
The rightwing is resurrecting an op-ed I wrote in July 2001. I stand by the full article. It is still relevant today. I am accused, incorrectly, of ignoring the threat of terrorism. In fact, I correctly noted that the real threat emanated from Bin Laden and Islamic extremism. President Bush, for his part, ignored the CIA warning in August 2001 that Al Qaeda was posed to strike inside the United States.[17]
After September 11, Johnson appeared several times on FOX News to address the question of military action against terrorism. On 14 November, he defended the FBI's proposal to interview 5,000 students in the U.S. suspected of having information relevant to the September 11 investigations:
I think they should talk to everyone that they feel they have a need to talk to. I mean, look, this is war. This is not a legal proceeding. This isn't the O.J. Simpson trial. The folks that attacked us -- they murdered Americans. And we've got to recognize that in wartime, we should do things differently.[18]
[edit]2003
In January 2003, Johnson wrote an analysis of the relationship between the upcoming U.S. invasion of Iraq and the threat of transnational terrorism. According to Johnson, Bremer's response was to tell him that "it didn't matter what Saddam did or didn't do, we were going to war."[19] The paper warned that an invasion would "do little to destroy the infrastructure of radical Islamic terrorism responsible for the 9-11 attacks." Noting that Saddam Hussein's regime has been a longtime supporter of regional terrorist organizations such as the PLO, Johnson examines contacts between Saddam Hussein and transnational terrorist organizations such as al-Qaeda:
There is no doubt that Iraq is a state sponsor of terrorism—i.e., a country that provides financial support, safe haven, training, or weapons and explosives to groups or individuals that carry out terrorist attacks. . . . According to Central Intelligence Agency data, there is no credible evidence implicating Iraq in any mass casualty terrorist attacks since 1991. . . .
Johnson notes that the period immediately leading up to 2003 saw a rise of activity surrounding terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, suggesting that "Iraq is willing to help a movement that it would otherwise oppose on ideological grounds. Nonetheless," Johnson concludes, "it is important to understand that Iraqi entreaties to Al Qaeda, are most likely intended as a tactic to bolster Iraq’s ability to fight off a U.S. invasion rather than a deep-seated theological and ideological commitment to the terrorist agenda of Bin Laden.[20]
In that analysis Johnson also warns that the U.S.-led invasion was likely to backfire:
In fact there is a serious risk that a U.S. led war against Iraq may crystallize the diffused anger in the Arab and Muslim world — a heretofore unattained goal of bin Laden and his followers — and persuade more Muslim youths to take up the terrorist banner against America and her citizens.... If we decide to invade Iraq we must be prepared for the contingency that our attack will inspire young Muslims to pursue jihad against the West in general and the United States in particular. Just as the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan rallied many Muslims, especially young adults to the cause of jihad, a U.S. attack may enable Islamic extremists to attract new followers.[20]
Johnson also gave interviews on the topic of what to do with captured al-Qaeda leaders; while he did not condone torture, he suggested that a "sleep deprivation and reward system" might be useful for getting information from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed:
I don't see a constitutional right to have eight hours of sleep. You shouldn't subject someone to freezing but they don't get to wear mink coats, either.[21]
In May 2003, Johnson joined members of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) in condemning the manipulation of intelligence for political purposes:
It is a misuse and abuse of intelligence. The president was being misled. He was ill served by the folks who are supposed to protect him on this. Whether this was witting or unwitting, I don't know, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.[22]
[edit]Plame affair
After Robert Novak wrote a column identifying the wife of former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson as a CIA officer, the media invited Johnson to comment on the ensuing scandal because he had been a member of the same Career Trainee class with Valerie Plame Wilson. For example, in October 2003, he appeared on Democracy Now to discuss the Plame affair. He told interviewer Amy Goodman that Valerie Wilson's cover should have been respected whether she was an "analyst" or a "cleaning lady": "if she's undercover she's undercover, period. If the media allows themselves to get distracted with those kinds of curve balls, they ignore the issue."[23]
He told a Senate Democratic Policy Committee in October 2003, "My classmates and I have been betrayed. Together, we have kept the secrets of each other's identities a secret for 18 years. Each and every one of us have kept that secret, whether we were in the CIA, in other government service or in the private sector. But this issue is not just about a blown cover. It is about the destruction of the very essence, the core of human intelligence collection activities: plausible deniability, apparently, for partisan domestic political reasons."[24]
Johnson testified at a special joint hearing of Congressional and Senate Democrats on 22 July 2005 about the consequences arising from the Plame affair.[25]
[edit]2008
In 2008, Johnson emerged as a staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton and a strong critic of Barack Obama. Larry Johnson's blog, NoQuarterUSA, became a rally point for Clinton supporters wary of Barack Obama's qualifications to be president. Supporters of Barack Obama insist that a story that first appeared on Johnson's blog--a report that Republican operatives have a tape of Michelle Obama making racially insenstive comments about caucasians--has been "refuted" Barack Obama's Fight the Smears website.[26]. However, Johnson never claimed to have the tape and reported that the Republican operatives controlling it intended to release the tape sometime after the Democratic Convention in August 2008. On October 21, however, he asserted that the operative in possession of the tape had been instructed by the McCain campaign not to release it.[27]

It is, to be sure, a little bit cheap (and slightly at odds with the usual parameters of this feature) to criticize someone for making an erroneous prediction, particularly after a tragedy. Chatterbox is especially reluctant to tag Johnson because Johnson's op-ed was argued forcefully, backed up meticulously with factual data, and bravely at odds with conventional wisdom at the time of its publication. Add in that Johnson now makes his living as a consultant to corporations about terrorism, and therefore had everything to gain by exaggerating the dangers terrorism poses, and the guy practically looks like a hero. Chatterbox, who two decades ago was an editor for the New York Times op-ed page, would have published Johnson's piece had he still been an editor there this past July. In his capacity at Slate, Chatterbox might well have written up Johnson's prediction, and perhaps even endorsed it.
But boy, is he glad he didn't! Johnson's analysis, we now see, was bold, persuasive, and 100 percent wrong. Sadly, a mistake this embarrassing cannot be ignored. As a fellow skeptic, Chatterbox in all sincerity wishes Johnson better luck next time.

The Jews are responsible for rap. Who knew that P. Diddy and LL Cool Jay were Jewish. They ain’t wearing jewelry, they are wrapping tefillin. Confused? Read on.
There was an ugly verbal attack on Jews this week by a so-called religious leader in the Los Angeles area who also happens to be a high profile Obama supporter. Let me state at the outset that Eric Lee, the man who launched this verbal tirade, was not acting at the behest of Barack Obama. But we are seeing a troubling trend. The number of batshit crazy pastors–Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger, James T. Meeks–coming out in favor of Barack is alarming.
First, look at what happened:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYf_xSrRSPE&eurl=http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/reverend-eric-lees-anti-semitism-a-personal-story-video/[/youtube]
Ms. Ziman also has sent out an email recounting the experience:
Last night I was honored by Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, for my work with Children Uniting nations with African American children who are living out of home care. I have dedicated my life to saving these children from abuse, neglect and a life of crime. We created ‘adoption day’ and “Day of the child” determined to recruit caring adults to be mentors and life savers for our at risk children in the inner cities.
The mayor was present and City council member Bernard parks, assemblyman Mike Davis Senator Mark Ridely Thomas etc. I was introduced as a children advocate and a leader in the Jewish community. I began my speech by talking about how I woke up in the morning and listened to Hillary clinton’s speech, in the spirit of Dr. King from Memphis, that moved me so deeply. I expressed to the crowd how grateful I was to listen to Sen. McCain apologize to the community for mistakes he has made in the past. I acknowledged Sen. Obama’s speech from the campaign trail about Dr. King’s mentorship.
After I spoke and thanked the fraternity and their members, Rev. Eric Lee, pres. and CEO of Southern Christian Leadership Conference of greater Los Angeles, was introduced as the key note speaker.
He began his speech by thanking Jesus for Obama, who is going to be the leader of the world. He continued by referring to other leaders Like Dr. King, being that this was the moment of celebrating Dr. King’s spirit on the anniversary of his assasination, and Malcolm X.
It was right after the mention of Malcolm X that he looked right at me and started talking about the African American children who are suffering because of the JEWS that have featured them as rapists and murderers. He spoke of a Jewish Rabbi, and then corrected himself to say “What other kind of Rabbis are there, but JEWS”. He told how this Rabbi came to him to say that he would like to bring the AA community and the Jewish community together. ” NO, NO, NO,!!!!” he shouted into the crowd, we are not going to come together. “The Jews have made money on us in the music business and we are the entertainers, and they are economically enslaving us.”
He continued as to how now the salvation has come and the gates have open for African Americans to come together behind Barack Obama, because now is the time to show them.(meaning thejews).
He continued to speak about ‘ White supremecy’ vs the talents and visionaries in the core of African Americans. He demeaned being given freedom, by saying “To what?” to a country that kills women and children.
I could no longer be polite and sit in front of the crowd, so I walked out.
Members of the fraternity ran after me as did my staff, I was not able to contain my tears and I cried.
I cried for me and my family, who have tried so hard to help the African American community, because we adopted children from the same realities and wanted to give back to other children and people. We have been completely color blind, for us it was only helping those children in need. I cried for our beloved country and the division that Barack Obama has caused with his Rev. Wright opening the gates to ‘hate’ against the Jews and whites. I grew up so looking at America as the land of Freedom. I was honored to receive my citizenship accompanied by members of the Kennedy family. Now, I’m afraid for Israel because Barack sat there for 20 years listening and not standing up for what’s right, why would he standup for Israel?
I cried for the Jewish community who are so blind that they can’t see that there’s a movement here that will destroy us.I cried because for the first time in my life I was afraid of the future.
I cried for our world that is moving backwards and not forward. Everyday, I see children so lost, and so deserving of hope and love. I look into their eyes, knowing that it is their lives that are in our hands.
I’m crying now, so I’m going to stop writing because it is so painful.
I just had to share this experience with you,
thank you,
Daphna
Got it? Jews are enslaving all multi-millionaire black rappers. Apparently, the Jews are leaving white boys like Eminem alone.
I notice some clear patterns. First, this is another “Christian” pastor who is an Obama supporter hurling venom at Jews. Why does Obama attract these guys? How strong is segment of the African American community that hates Jews?
Second, Obama also has attracted significant support for Palestinians who have a record of lashing out at Israel, such as Rashid Khalidi. That alone is not alarming, but when you put it with the fairly large group of anti-semite pastors you have to wonder.
Third, why can’t Eric Lee take responsibility for the actions of black rappers who make their case off of vile, hateful lyrics. Blaming Jews for rap music is akin to blaming me for getting Randi Rhodes fired.
It is incumbent on Barack Obama to condemn Eric Lee’s rantings. He must make it clear that he will not tolerate this kind of hatred and racism. What say you Obama?
When a candidate has no record then the only windows to that candidate’s true beliefs are his past history, his affiliations, and his advisors. Campaign rhetoric is the least reliable measure because any hack politician will say or do whatever it takes to get elected.
Obama’s history and his affiliations are engrossed in rampant anti-Jewish and anti-Israel beliefs as well as strong support for anti-Jewish groups and leaders. This is just more evidence.
In addition are his major foreign policy advisors who are some of the most prominant anti-Israel experts one could find.
The only Jews who will be voting for Obama are: (1)unknowledgable of Obama, (2) have placed their loyalty behind this one man ahead of their faith and support of Israel, or (3) are cowards and have capitulated to the anti-Zionist (P.C. for anti-Jewish) groups which has happened before in Jewish history.
I’ll make sure the Pritzker family is so advised that the guy they have befriended and supported since the early 90s is “anti-Jewish” . . . .
At some point, don’t you Hill-bots get embarrased by your rhetoric?
R-Bob you are just as much as a bigot if you believe that the support of some jews justifies the rampant antisemitism and anti-Israel feelings of Obama’s friends and some of his supporters.
Obviously you don’t understand shit about anti-semitism and about history. Many jews supported in the past centure false messiah: does that justify Hitler’s Holocaust?? Because this is your logic here.
And don’t even try to explain b/c it only exposes how disgusting your justifications are; and convinces no-one.
meant “in the past century”
One of my favorite lines in the oft forgotten movie from the 60’s, Ship of Fools, happens in a scene where 2 Jews are sharing a meal. One is a jovial, optimistic, exhuberant businessman, the other a philosphical dwarf. They are discussing the sudden rise of the Nazi Party. The dwarf tries to convince the optimist of the impending threat, but the optimist laughs him off with a jubiliant smile and this:
“There are 6 million Jews in Germany. What are they going to do? Kill us all?”
Denial is nothing more than willful stubborness, at times. No one can say what is really on the minds of Obama’s jewish supporters. All I know is that once upon a time, Jesse Jackson, in losing his cool over the relentless needling from Mayor Koch, responded with his infamous ‘Hymie Town” remark and he’s never been able to live this down. But for some reason, Obama is getting a pass on his relationship with Wright, Farrakahn, his anti-Israel advisers, all of whom are on record as saying stuff way more inflammatory and threatening than Jackson’s derogatory assignation of NYC under Ed Koch’s mayoralty. (BTW, Koch was annoying ass and was guilty of hurling his own brand of derogatory statements, which he got away with.)
So this is what I have learned this election cyle: that some jews are no longer sensitive about comments once perceived as anti-semitic and that clearly they seem to be able to see things from the Palestinian perspective. They are true Obama acolytes. They have transcended.
Blacks, on the other hand, are still married to the politics of racialism and seeing the world in the various slights leveled in our direction as racist. Blacks have NOT transcended. And nobody better dare ask us to. At least not until Barack Obama has been nominated and elected POTUS. And who knows, maybe not even then.
You can call this rhetoric if you like. I see it as some serious forces at play and I’m going to do everything in my power to stop it!
Go Hillary!!!
I wonder what else Obama said behind closed door. That is one statement that accidently got out to all of the public. What else is he saying behind closed doors? I cannot wait 10 years from now when the whole truth finally comes out of course.
We the Hill family will not be surprised.
I have to wonder how he’d be influenced by this hateful dog pack he has surrounding him.
So, theoretically, Israel hits a Hamas member, high ranking. Obama’s preacher dogpack goes batshit, and puts a vituperative shrill back breaking pressure on Obama to retaliate against Israel.
His decision making process is suspect, as is his ability to withstand brutal censure from the African American community he has chosen to surround himself, (apparently all insane).
What happens?
Does he capitulate to a bunch of angry insane men?
This is real, btw. Obama has no spine, has shown no spine, seeks approval from some lightweight haters, and he has not made one decision that involved risk, he has simply sold his influence to the highest paying lobbyist, and then did as he was told.
Corruption hurts us all.
Actually, brother and siser are split on this one. Sis is currently high on US GOVT. ISSUE CRACK…. Brother has gone to the dark side and is eating working class dunkin bagels with Hillary aka evil ( Pink Lady ). OBAMESSIAH the great hope UNIFIER is successfully redefining a New Low in American Politics…. OBAMcCARTHYISM….Take a hit…Pass the Pipe.
What’s frightening is the pressure Obama would be under to bring this element into the administration. If they got him elected, they would expect payback.
You cannot separate a person from the company he has chosen to keep.
You cannot separate a person from the company he has chosen to keep.
Amen. And if this man is the nominee there will be 527 groups reinforcing that for months resulting in Obama being at the wrong end of the biggest landslide.
Hey B-Rob,
Not nearly everyone in the Pritzker family are supporters of Obama:
http://www.observer.com/2007/obama-pritzkers-hillary-pritzkers
And were the Chicago Pritzkers aware of Obama’s background and affiliations? As I said there will be Jews supporting and voting for Obama ever after all these revelations.
yes the Pritzkers and their $150 large bill they owe the US taxpayers for the bank that failed and cost so many their entire life savings the FDIC is waiting for their money
Pritzkers are more concerned about their buddy Barack cancelling the debt friend
That’s closer to 500 million.
hey bip rob, don’t you find it hard to communicate with your head up your arse? since you are doing such a lousy ass job of it, i guess i have my answer. carry on, fool.
(3) are cowards and have capitulated to the anti-Zionist (P.C. for anti-Jewish) groups which has happened before in Jewish history.
Huh?
I’m a capital anti-zionist, but don’t hate Jews. The problem is when folks like to blur the lines and claim anything anti-zionist=anti-Jew, though.
Zionism is a political ideology, nothing different than Democrat or Republican. To equate Zionism to Judaism IS the wrong message, as it’s patently wrong.
Such blurring alienates even fellow Dems, who are some of the most anti-zionists of them all (Norman Finkelstein — who I respect a lot — comes to mind vividly), especially those trying for some PEACEFUL settlement of the Israel/Palestine conflict.
Clearly you are anti-Jewish and typical of those that try to hide their hate behind “anti-Zionism.” You, like Jeremiah Wright, look at Zionism as some sort of right wing political movement. It is not that at all.
Jews were originally from the Middle East and over time were forced to leave. It was called the Diaspora. It began in 597 and resulted in Judeans being forcibly dispersed from their homeland that they occupied for over a 1,000 years.
More recently from the late 1800’s through the early 20th century there were growing anti-Jewish pograms from Russia throughout Eastern Europe and that eventually spread into Germany with the rise of Nazism.
With the decades of persecution, Jews dreamed of returning to their homeland and having a safe and secure country where they would not be subjected to intolerance as they were around the world.
Zionism is the national movement for the return of the Jewish people to their homeland and the resumption of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel. Essentially Zionism is the national liberation movement of the Jewish people. So to be anti-Zionist is to be a Jew hater because the alternative was the continued persecution Jews faced throughout the centuries in other countries.
When asked about Zionism Martin Luther King responded: “When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews. You’re talking anti-Semitism.”
The reason this is an issue today is because of the rising wave of anti-Semitism around the world and in this country. Obama’s pastor have forced it to the front pages.
At the genocide of Palestinians. Which makes Israel no better a country than Sudan.
So take your own ignorance and murdering thought right back to the graves of millions you’d endorse as some “right”. >:(
Those are the comments of a disturbed individual. As I recall Hitler was such a person. Fortunately ignorant bigots like you and Jermiah Wright are still a minority.
So sayeth the Zionists in Germany when they got into bed with Hitler.
It’s not Jews that is the problem, it’s Zionists — especially those who claim 6 million Jews dead is payment for Israel.
Then add a couple more million Arabs to keep it…
Like I said. You have a very twisted view of history and it is to fit your Nazi POV. It is impossible to respond to ignorance and hate and not worth it.
So in your own ignorance you’re telling us Jews are ignorant of their own history?
http://www.jewsagainstzionism.com/antisemitism/holocaust/holocaustmillions.cfm
Zionists will kill their own for a “final solution.”
As I said there are Jews who will turn their back on their faith and on Israel. There are also jews who will capitulate to anti-Semites like you because they are cowards. This was also the situation in the lead up to World War II and the holocaust.
I think you would be far more comfortable with the ignorant Jew haters on Daily Kos which has become a haven for growing Anti-semitism which was identified by Harold Ford Jr. on Meet The Press.
Naw, these are the Zionist cowards like you — even in the Gestapo gear…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YERmru1OCSg
chris, shut the fuxx up! you are a pathetic bigot. get lost!
Hey you stupid fuck, Israel was deported in 726-22 BC. Those damn jews never was part of Israel. They Stole the name Israel and Hate Jesus Christ , My God how stupid can you get?
MLK said anti zionists were anti Semites
just sayin’
That was his actual quote. MLK had very close relations with Jews who were financing this efforts, were the civil rights lawyers back then, and were 2 of the 3 young men killed in Mississippi.
I believe that the term “batshit crazy” is an accurate description of the “pastors” in question.
“why can’t Eric Lee take responsibility for the actions of black rappers who make their case off of vile, hateful lyrics.”
Like Ice T or Ice Cube, eh Larry?
or Vanilla Ice I suppose.
Pretty fly for a white guy.
Not the same.
Vanilla Ice destroyed my love of the first few notes of Under Pressure Bowie and Freddie
NO VANILLA ICE ICE BABY!
Kevin, have you asked Howard Dean to count your Florida vote yet?
No, and why would I? You people have this childishly mistaken view that I live in Florida, because someone on the site supposedly did or heard the results of an ip trace placed my posts from there.
Again - I’m in the DC/Metro area… you guys crack me up w/ this nonsense… it’s like everything else, you’ve decided what something is and ignore all facts/opinions to the contrary.
Keep up the good work there “Truthteller” LOL
Everyone who has heard of this Lee person before this “controversy” erupted, please tell me when you heard of him.
thats the whole point.
crackpot congregations!
strawman for breakfast anyone?
Well, he’s CEO of The LA Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
See here: http://www.sclclosangeles.org/revlee.htm
So I guess some people have heard a lot from/about him, don’t ‘ya think?
Thank you for posting this, Larry–once again, we have (more-than) an intimation of how disastrous an Obama nomination would be.
Everyday I’m continually disgusted and angered by the supporters of Obama.
This is a very powerful video. I was actually floored watching it. Her pain and outrage are very real. And I support her position entirely.
Why are so many pro-Palestinian anti-Jews flocking to Obama? It isn’t a coincidence. Obama has made his pro-Palestinian position very clear, except for when he is seeking Jewish money.
My heart is so heavy for that poor woman. To be standing there feeling as if she had been kicked in the stomach, humiliated in font of so many people.
btw, I see no issue with being pro-Palestinian. One need not be anti-Jewish to be in support of the the human rights for Palestinians. Or said another way, I can hold two thoughts in my head at the same time while chewing gum.
I agree. Afterall, you need that support for peace ever to come about….it can’t be for one without the other.
Try telling Zionists that fact! lol
They’ll try to define anything as anti-zionist as being anti-Jew, when in fact Zionists are the worst anti-Jew proponents of them all. It’s no wonder why the most ardent anti-zionists are in fact Jews themselves (and have been since the inception of the Zionist movement in the late 19th century). These Jews also understand the Torah, and that only God can ordain when Jews can return — not mankind. They lived peacefully with their Arab neighbors, which is in strict contrast to the apartheid and outright racism Zionists have practiced (look up their own Tuskegee medical experiment…The ringworm children for what more horrors they have done to their OWN).
That’s why there’s no peace there, too. When folks are segregated on race/ethnic backgrounds and more, you can expect Zionists to treat Palestinians worse than the KKK in the South.
Anti-Semitism world wide is rising at an alarming rate. It’s the same old story. I suppose the next thing to come out will be a hip-hop comic book OOPS! I mean…ehemmm…Graphic Novel of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion… Don’t blame this woman for speaking out and being concerned. It’s the same old Bullshit…..Blame the Jews for everything….Blood libels…Horns…Illuminati…Deicide…Next they’ll be calling the Pogroms a voluntary relocation effort. Black Liberation Theology is a fraud. An Opiate designed to incite under the guise of racialethnic unification of the oppressed.
Hey now! The “spics” have been taking this kind of racism from the black community for decades.
This video is a wake up call. Obama has been promising change. Isn’t Obama a preacher himself?
This scares me more than anything else because it puts the pieces together. We already have an inflamed middle east.
Maybe we should be talking about that middle name some more and stop the media from calling racist for raising the alarm flag.
Gringo’s wife…Ummm…. Spics,Chinks,Garlic Noses, Jews, Micks, etc….
are all the same…They are the uber evil WHITES who are in charge of Officially santioned Operation Oppression of the non-whites…..or haven’t you heard. ( I’m just a typical cracker waiting for my soul to be healed ). Source: OBAMEDIA through my special internet connection to the OPRAHSPHERE.
The audacity of racism.
PA are bitter suspicious people.
Whites are typical.
Babies are a punishment.
Jews are ruining blacks.
Tavis Smalley had to quit his job.
Italian Garlic noses..crucifixion Italian style!!
My God, he is unstopable at uniting this country!!
I’m gettin a warm fuzzy feeling just feeling so close to those Obama folks who call me a Republican when I ask questions about their candidate. I feel so close, so friendly, so united. And when I vote for a different candidate, I get that positive reinforcement I need to remember I live an democracy of sorts (no need to lecture about what a Republic is, especially if you’ve never read Plato).
funny thing about wall street! i share a lot of anger with many toward the “masters of the universe” who caused this problem. guess what you biased obots, you can’t get by, be hip hop or cool without us or them. we the middle working class are the backbone of the country. we are called bitter, cowards, racists, by racist cowards. who knew!
Oh, and “pro-abortionists” don’t understand the moarality and emotion of abortion.
Another famous foot-in-mouth from BO…I think yesterday.
ah yes , babies as punishment-but to cozy up the prolifers he said just the other day:
see we pro choice just DONT GET that it is a wrenching moral issues, thanks for the clarification, i feel so differently now!, snark,
try the SCOTUS dogwhistle in a GE run with this guy and see how far you get DNC…..
from Jeralyn Talk Left post:
The only reason he has not gone after the Irish is the Kennedy’s. At least half of my heritage is safe from this scourge.
I am speechless… How can this be going in in this country? I mean; you always hear here and there about
random anti-semites; but there doesn’t seem to be a random-ness when it comes to this group of people who
have endorsed Obama. And these are not people he has nothing to do with. He proudly displayed Pfleger’s endorsements in his webpage; we know how he feels about Wright; we know how Wright and Pfleger feel about Farrakhan. We know how Farrakhan feels about jews. We know how Khalidi feel about Israel.
Obama said recently :
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/04/somebody-call-a.html
Really? Noone? Ok. Sen. Obama; I want a speech on national TV where you strongly reject and “fircely” condemn every single one of these people and onc eand for all you disassociet from them; publically, loudly and name by name.
Anything short of this is un-acceptable.
I am most surprised by the amount of hatred toward the Jewish community.
Is this indicative of ALL black churches, or just the ones Obama associates with?
I’m thinking it’s the ones he associates with. When he talks about people who cling to a hateful religion to excuse xenophobia and who do so out of bitterness, he’s talking about himself.
I hope you’re right.
It’s been my experience though, by the time it comes to mainstream attention, it’s endemic.
It needs to be addressed, this is hate.
It’s really too bad Rev Lee’s hate speech sermon wasn’t recorded.
I recommend to everyone to go to these high profile black “Churches” that support Obama and bring concealed recording devices.
Obama wants to have a national discussion on race. I say yes, lets do that.
David Sirota will explain it all to you. Eric Altermann will quote some offensive thing his bubbie said and Sen. Obama will tell you about his grandmother’s prejudices.
It’s a very sad video and if Obama supporters took the time to google Daphna they would realize that she is an amazing person - who is actually working for charge and hope.
There is an empowerment among Obama supporters that is very scary. All the hate they feel towards to other gender, races and religions just comes pouring out - it’s doesn’t matter if it’s some internet troll or a speaker at some event. They feel free to say the most vile and ignorant things.
Keep it up Obama supporters - you are doing your candidate no favors. Keep defending the indefensible, keep making excuses, keep blaming Hillary. Just be warned - if Obama makes it to the general against McCain - the republicans will paint you as elite, out of touch, anti-semitic robots who believe the blue collar worker is a bitter religious gun nut. Yea, that will play in well Ohio and Penn.
You think Hillary attacked Obama - that will be childs play compared to what the Republican with do. And guess what -if won’t be like swiftboating Kerry - because the stories are all true and they are out there.
Keep defending supporters of Obama who think blaming Jews for what ails their community - that’s just great. Good luck with that.
And speaking of Obama supporters, this rash of IT attacks on anti Obama sites, would indicate a lack of respect for freedom of the press, and difference of opinion (given they are responsible).
It has far less to do with the paintball competition they think they have, this cloak of invisibility (which is just an illusion) they think hides them, than it does with a suppression of the press, really, violating the civil rights of others, the right to disagree, and tell the truth.
So, you know, I think there are grounds to really go after them.
Hell it has already worked on me. We are a military family and I cried watching one of McCain’s political ads.
Barak Hussein “Long Legged Mac Daddy” Obama.
or
John “Decorated Vietnam Prisoner of War Hero” McCain.
This is a no brainer in my family. Had the DNC provided better leadership I may have been left with move confidence in my party.
As I told Howard Dean, if the DNC doesn’t count my vote, the DNC won’t be counting on my vote in November.
Add to this gang of newts a radical who appears to not quite yet gotten the hang of wiping his arse (as my Mother would call inexperience) as a POTUS?
I honestly struggle understanding why this is not more of an obvious danger to all considering the mess Bush is leaving behind.
Obama’s power base is already visible and they are the same fools who are making a mess of the election and ROBBING millions of AMERICANS of their VOTES.
Who wants these for leaders? Certainly not this disenfranchised voter.
Those who support Obama must suspend belief to support such an administration HYPOCRITICALLY under the guise of “change.”
I think the effects of inforealmedia on the brain may just be peaking, ducky.
To be a snark and not to roll …
Well said…..This is why I’m seriously considering returning to the haze of drugs that got me through the Reagan Years….I want some of that US Govt. Issue Crack as well, but I don’t think I qualify…What with being an HRC supporter…..wrong race….wrong age….wrong gender…..wrong income bracket…..etc….( sigh )
Larry that video brought tears to my eyes. Really, was this country so divided before Barack Obama ran for president? Were we all just missing it? Or has he brought a lot of this division upon us?
He’s whipping up hate for votes, and people who do not like America, American power, or Israel are very attracted to him. It is certainly too many to be a coincidence.
It’s like seeing Bush’s Neo-con circle in reverse–but in time to avoid letting the cadre get into power.
Ya think this will be talked about on Meet the Press?
Not a chance…..Maybe the McGlaughlin Group….
Yeah for about a 15 second round …
Anyone remember the SNL skit on McLaughlin years back? Guest were as I remember Billy Idol, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin? Priceless!
A bit off topic but I had some thoughts on OBH’s PA comments yesterday. I thought there was a thread here but can’t find it.
POLITICO.COM
“The Huffington Post’s Mayhill Fowler, correspondent for HuffPost’s “Off the Bus,” yesterday posted audio and a transcript of remarks by Obama “to a group of his wealthier Golden State backers at a San Francisco fundraiser last Sunday,” April 6 (”Obama: No Surprise That Hard-Pressed Pennsylvanians Turn Bitter”):”
My assumpiton from this piece was that BHO was explaining to his financial backers why he wasn’t picking up more votes. His justifications were essentially that the people in Penn were small town unemployed gun totin’ bible thumpin’ xenophobes. That description gives me a vision of the native characters from the movie “Deliverance” roaming around the towns.
I think it would be interesting to see a detailed breakdown of the preliminary polling in PA & IN.
Hillary’s campaign had been secretly planting white kids in Indonesia to taunt OBAMESSIAH….Planting deliverance whitebillies throughout PA to influence the working class to return to the KKK fold…Planting Jews in the Hip-Hop world to hijack the$$ and the message….Slipping mickeys to Obamessiah Typical White Granny….Source: OBAMEDIA through my special internet connection to the OPRHASPHERE.
Bawahahahaha! I saw that episode!
I want to hire banjo players to follow Barack around playing dueling banjos, it was suggested on TM and the mental image makes me smile, so so widely
cheshire cat smile
Ms. Ziman,
Thank you for your work on behalf of the children you help. I’m sorry that you were treated so poorly. It is very interesting that Barack Obama continues to surround himself with people who continue to act in this awful way.
Amen!!
Amen
God Bless You for your work in the world and I am so so sorry you had to hear such ignorant hatred
Obama: Big Ego, Big Mouth, Big Trouble = Unity Ticket??
I say NOT SO SURE…….
http://insightanalytical.wordpress.com/2008/04/12/obama-big-ego-big-mouth-big-trouble-unity-ticket/
The truth is we don’t know much about Obama. All we know is there are many aspects of Obama’s life that suggest the possibility that Obama’s loyalties may not be what we expect or can be comfortable with. Thanks largely to the fawning Media, these troubling tidbits have been largely ignored in the Democratic Primary. However, it is fair to ask, when do all the troubling connections that Obama has to anti-American, anti-Semitic, pro-Suddam Hussein, and even pro-radical Islamist elements become more than just coincidence or happenstance? In the GE? We Democrats ignore the obvious implication of these “tidbits” at our peril, because it will likely sink the Democratic ship in the GE if Obama is on the ticket.
Here’s a sample of what I mean:
1.Obama was raised Muslim and did not convert to Christianity until his twenties.
2.As a young man, Obama struggled with his identity and racial discrimination.
3.In 1981, Obama traveled to Pakistan with a Muslim friend at a time when a jihad had been declared and young Muslims were called to serve Islam to fight off the Soviet invaders in neighboring Afghanistan. Many a troubled educated Muslim youth from around the world, including the US, answered the call and came to Pakistan – if only for a three week vacation to see what was going on. 1979 had been a pivotal year for fundamental Islamists – think Iran, Mecca and the Soviet Invasion. It’s not likely that Obama who had numerous Muslims friends in college and himself had a Muslim background didn’t hear the call or know about what was going on.
4.At some point in his life, Obama changed his name from “Barry” to Barack, which could indicate any number of things, one of which could be he decided to embrace his Muslim heritage.
5.Obama had/has many influential and wealthy Muslim friends, some of whom are funding his campaign.
6.While in law school, Rezko contacted Obama and offered him a job. While the particulars are unclear, it seems this was a personal offer, Rezko seems to have known who Obama was and made the offer directly to him as opposed to through a general interview process. How many law students are contacted directly by corrupt businessmen with ties to Saddam Hussein? And why would Obama be the one Rezko contacted unless Obama had somehow indicated some shared interest? The job Obama ended up taking was with a law firm with ties to Rezko.
7.Rezko is connected to Nadhmi Auchi, who was closely tied to Saddam Hussein and Obama himself may have direct ties to Auchi as well. Which undermines Obama’s anti Iraq war speech, especially when you factor in Wright and Farrakhan.
8.Early on, Obama connected with Wright, who himself and through Farrakhan, have expressed anti-American, Anti-Semitic and pro-radical Islamists sympathies. Farrakhan had contacts with Saddam Hussein and Muammar Ghaddafi, both known supporters of terrorism.
9.Obama’s Illinois State Senate district consisted of “prime Nation of Islam territory”. It is not possible, to win that district without the blessing of the NOI leadership.
10.Obama sat in the pews in Trinity Church and listened to (and possibly nodded to) anti American, anti-Semitic rants for 20 years.
11.There seems to be strong ties between Trinity and NOI based upon a shared sense of having been wronged (discriminated against and suppressed) and resulting anger against America and the Jews for those wrongs. A resentment and anger that Obama appears to have shared in his own personal life experiences. An anger repeated by radical Islamists in their jihad against America.
12.High level Obama campaign staffers are NOI members.
13.It appears Obama took a second trip to Pakistan when he was a state senator.
14.Obama campaign gets financial support from young Palestinians in Gaza City:
15.Obama’s Kenyan brother is a militant Muslim.
16.And, while a stretch and not the point I am making, Obama’s strategy to go after the youth and preach hope and change are straight out of Osama bin Laden’s play book.
Good work. May want to check out Chicago Sun Times running reports/archives ongoing on Rezko. Think its there I read that BHO met Rezko at some ice cream stand business and that their bond began because Rezko was related to Farrakan. You sound like a good investigator - maybe you could check this out and flesh out fax I may have confused.
Wouldn’t you want to add to your list both Ayers/Woods group AND BHO’s cousin, the Kenya genocidal “Opposition” leader, who has brought rape and mayhem to a previously peaceful country, who demands that strict Muslim law (including typical restrictions on women) should rule Kenya, and who brags that his cousin Barack is the US leader candidate, simultaneously, and how glad he is that Barack keeps in touch with him by phone. (maybe you can still find all this on YOUTube or google a British News Service (which was only one I know who reported on this - albeit briefly.)
Anyway, good work, I am printing out your nice concise list. We all know it’s pretty hard to keep up to date on this snake.
OOPS Also, think you might want to check out available online info on how Muslims terrorist recruitment in US is focused on disatisfied YOUNG BLACK AMERICANS.
Finally, you might have fun incorporating on your list, the link to a Muslims for Obama website, where they issue their endorsement of his candidacy - along with their platform of entire US honoring and incorporating Muslim holidays and laws (prayer times, appropriate female dress, etc.)
And when you’ve got all that added on, would you consider sending a HARD COPY to major Media NEWS IDEAS desks - as well as LOCAL PAPERS IN NORTH CAROLINA, in particular? Thanks!
This is very helpful in tying things together, you should post it at other blogs.
Really good job, I’m going to save it, too.
Have you heard that Wright will be the keynote speaker at the NAACP ?
http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/4/10/232137/152
Someone (`dianem’) at TL wrote this comment seems about right to me:
I know devoutly Christian African American’s who admire and identify with Jews. Jews were kept as slaves by the Egyptians and then were forced to leave their homes and go into a strange land. From the perspective of the Christian Bible, Jews are God’s chosen people.
Reverend Lee, and Rev Wright and their ilk sound so much more like the members of the Nation of Islam than any Christian ministers. Their hateful, anti-Semitic rants are more closely aligned with Minister Farrakhan than with the Reverend Martin Luther King.
What does that tell us about Barack Obama? He sat in Wright’s church for 20 years, and he has a group of anti-Semite ministers thanking Jesus for him?
A rose is a rose by any other name.
Here is a suggestion:
Do some research and see what percentage of the Jewish vote he got in his state senate runs. If anyone would know whether he is anti-Semetic, it would be the people who live in his district, which is one of the most diverse districts in the State.
Want my guess of his Jewish vote? Probably about 90%. That says more about him than any subjective conclusions you might make about him from who support him.
But but but…he was the only one on the ballot as he got everyone else disqualified! And even the “moron block” would have voted for BO over Alan Keyes…don’t ‘ya think?
TOUCHE! Shainzona……Re-bob you are hoggin the pipe…
You still don’t get it do you R-Bob?…
Yeah, but this was before Obama was exposed.
How can any straight thinking, informed individual vote for him?
Want my guess of his Jewish vote? Probably about 90%. That says more about him than any subjective conclusions you might make about him from who support him
subjective conclusions = guess.
Here is a suggestion.
The circular logic is baffling.
Then don’t use it.
He was running against ALAN KEYES! fercryingoutloud! I know. I live in Illinois and voted for Obama. That’s a mistake I won’t make twice.
Besides running against Alan Keyes, I’m sure most of the Jewish community in Hyde Park knew NOTHING about his Rev.’s connection/love for Farrakan when they voted for him. Now they know.
What fun choices. What a citizen to do? Alan Keyes was not to be in anycase. I am curious though, when it came to voting for B Obama at that timet, how much info was there about BO?
Or was the distraction Alan Keyes and BO escaping any “focus”?
you crack me up, not the govt kind, the laughing kind, do you think people KNEW these things when they voted for him? I dont
do you think if you revoted any of his wins now he would still win after what we are learning b/c the media didnt vett him at all? I dont
if he makes it to the GE we can meet here and see what happens when people who were sold a bill of goods get to vote again
but I dont think it will happen because he is not a candidate who can win a GE and surely soon even the elite cabal of dunces we call party leaders will realize it…
the amount of disgust i have with the democrats is starting to match the amount i feel about republicans. maybe even more so because they were supposed to reverse this sick trend. i felt something like this might happen at the beginning of obama’s campaign. the reverse racism, the blame game, the whine time is overwhelming now.
joe sixpack and mary homemaker won’t vote for this. in fact it will set back race relations for decades and insure there won’t be another minority candidate for president for a very long time. and that is so unfortunate.
I’m hoping that if anyone can clean this political diarrhea explosion up it will be Hillary Clinton. I’m eager for her to make a number of VERY high-profile non-white appointments, and work to make sure that this damage is mitigated as well as she can.
I wouldn’t expect the same from Obama. In his worldview, anyone not “enlightened” enough to vote for his spoiled skinny ass doesn’t merit inclusion.
The Clintons are both devoted to improving race relations, no matter the perfidy and lies they’ve been subjected to this primary. They’ll be more than ready to roll up their sleeves and dive right into it, and I REALLY look forward to a good solid 8 years of her followed by a ROCK SOLID, vetted, qualified minority candidate instead of an unqualified clueless Young Pretender.
How can this keep happening with no mention from the media? When will people wake up and pay attention? You can’t make me beleive that Obama supporters generally support these type of vile hatreds coming out of the religious leaders in the Obama camp. I’m so tired of this religious crap whether Republican or Democrat politicizing the churches and getting away with their non-profit status. I remember that the Democrats were going to try and get the religious vote from the Republicans this year, but if this is what they had in mind, count me out. Today, its the demonization of jews, tommorrow, it will be gays, then women, then every segment of society that’s not part of their theology. For a Uniter, this is certainly reminiscent of George Bush and his faith based initiatives feeding the hatred that comes out of the fringe elements in the name of Jesus. I was taught about a loving god, I want no part of any organized religion. I certainly don’ty want it anywhere near the WhiteHouse.
Mediocre money guys see what they wanna see, and OWN those media outlets.
And they think, so what, it will never happen, a soft denial, a belief in magical thinking, same as with Bush.
Mediocre business men all around.
a lot of obama supporters have been hypnotized and/or are too far invested in the obamamobthink at this point to turn back.
of course, not all obama supporters are equally callous, irresponsible, or cruel. but nobody wants to spoil the fun, like ya know, this omg-awesome kool-aid party… so they watch silently, or worse yet pile onto the hate bandwagon along with the msm and unsuspecting bystanders, until before they know it they no longer recognize themselves, no longer care who they’re hating (hillary, italians, jews, etc.), as long as they have someone, anyone, to hate.
as i’ve read one historian and bestselling children’s author put it:
“he was a brilliant popular orator and drew huge crowds. he knew there was no better way to incite a mob to action than to give them a scapegoat, someone they could blame for their suffering…”
“they band together with other real or supposed companions in misfortune and take to the streets, marching in step and parroting mindless slogans, filled with their own importance.”
“this book is intended for young readers who should not have to read about such things. but children grow up too, and they too must learn from history how easy it is for human beings to be transformed into inhuman beings through incitement and intolerance.”
unfortunately, the author’s not writing about obama–although obama’s youth vote could certainly use the message.
the setting is 1930’s germany, and he’s writing about the rise of hitler and the nazi party.
You could see the pain in this woman’s eyes and hear it in her voice. She, as with many other’s around the world looks to the United States as “that shining city on the hill” and finds it pretty tarnished.
George Bush is responsible for much of that tarnish. But every American of any ethnicity that sits inside a church, of any faith, and listens to some religious leader spout hate is tarnishing all that we could be; all that we claim to stand for.
But as long as we try to do better, as long as there is less of the bad and more of the good in each succeeding generation then we can be proud.
This kind of talk has no place anywhere in a descent society. And Ms. Ziman was right, MLK would have condemned such words in the strongest terms. He knew that unless EVERYONE is treated fairly and with respect then none of us are free.
it’s funny how Obama views small town PA as creepy, and Jeremiah Bullfrog is the norm.
My boss is an extraordinary, capable black woman, many of my co-workers are black. It surprised me when Obama informed us that we are a divided country, and he was going to unite us.
I realized that it was because Obama is from an enclave that is shut off from the rest of the country. His perception of America is out of touch.
Snobgate — W.O.R.M. (What.Obama.Really.Meant)
I go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, no matter how much I spend or puff or lie, or how sexy I look, I can’t get those damn rubes and rednecks who are ruining the democratic party to vote for me. So it’s not surprising then that I get bitter, and I cling to my affluent Harvard-educated elitist condescending views of these voters as gun-toting boors or religious fanatics or racist bigots as a way to explain my frustrations about not getting those votes away from that lying bitch.
This is yet another example of “the Unifier” failing to speak out against the hatred that comes forth from his supporters - whether it is sexism, racism, corruption, anti-Americanism, personal attacks against Senator Clinton and her daughter and Geraldine Ferraro, or anti-gay sentiment. He does not want to lose his “coalition,” so he allows all this ill-will between Americans to fester, while promoting himself as a new way and a new day in America. And people fall for this, including prominent Democrats!!! Ms. Ziman is absolutely correct that “our world is moving backward and not forward,” and I share her fear of the future. Barack Obama is enabling hatred.
And the democrats think women will flock back, and vote for Obama, “what else will they do?”
Obama democrats don’t see women, period, do not take them seriously as a constituency.
The republicans aren’t much better, the democratic men are obtuse.
Yes, yes. You said it. Obama’s new world in a nasty nutshell.
In fact, I’ll add that he is seemingly creating and inflaming a lot of these divisions in order to get votes.
He learned at the feet of Rev. Wright, how to grow your congregation quickly and get your street cred w/out doing one bit of work. Race baiting, inflaming hatred, and welcoming all current haters aboard.
Wow. This makes my blood run cold. I knew this was coming though. For the last 7-8-10 years the anti-”Zionist” (can’t call it what it is, antisemitism, because they really do like Jews and Israel wink*wink* it’s just the Zionists they hate *rolling eyes* AGAIN) pro-Hamas/Palestinian rhetoric has ballooned into something VERY dangerous for Israel and the Jewish people.
Mr. Hope and his anti-semitic Rev.s have opened the floodgates, just like Daphna said. The AA community feels free now to say how they REALLY feel about Jews. The sad thing is though, it’s not JUST the AA community. It seems to be everyone now feels comfortable in expressing antisemitism. It’s like a new fad, but it’s not new to Jews. I know there’s always been an unspoken hatred of Jews (among some, not all people), but it’s never been as blatant as it is now….except for the antisemitism my son had to endure the first 7 years he was in school…being the ONLY Jew in the school, we heard it all, believe me.
I had a personal experience with this myself. When my son was 5 years old he was taking a Martial Arts class and became close friends with another little 5 year old AA boy that was in the same class. They hung out together all the time. They were great friends. My son went to his home to play, he came to ours to play. The boy invited my son to his Birthday Party and, of course, we attended. It was held at a Chucky Cheese type of place that provided the party room, the food, cake and such.
While we were there the little boy asked his dad if he could eat a certain food on the table and his dad said “no, it’s pork, you can’t have it.” He then explained that they were Muslim and that was why he couldn’t eat the pork. Well, being Jewish, my husband started a conversation with the dad about how the AA, Muslim and Jewish people have much in common, how we’ve all been discriminated against over the years and how the 3 communities should remain connected to fight the hatred. He reminded the dad that over the years, the AA community and the Jewish community DID speak as one vote against racial inequality. The dad didn’t know we are Jewish.
Well, little did we know the man didn’t like Jews and as soon as he found out we were Jewish his whole demeanor changed. He didn’t speak to us the rest of the day. He avoided us completely. His son never attended the Martial Arts class again and my son and his son were never to play together again. The dad wouldn’t allow it. The little boy told my son he couldn’t play with him anymore because he’s Jewish. It’s true. He hated Jews that much (the dad)….even a 5 year old Jew.
I feel as though the Jewish community is trying to reach out to AA and Muslim communities, but are not seeing what’s really going on behind their closed doors. Is the Jewish community being naive? Or do they know what’s going on and are just trying to make it better by continuing to reach out to them?
For my husband and I, the Rev. Wright/Farrakan love fest opened our eyes WIDE. Now I read this email and watch this video and it makes me weep too. This is a very dangerous road we’re now headed down. A SAD and DANGEROUS road. I think it’s a Pandora’s Box that people will regret ever opening.
So sorry for the long post, but this reminded me of the little AA Muslim boy I so adored so many years ago….10 years to be exact. It hurt then and it hurts now. I’m so sad again.:(
Obama spoke about the anti-Semetism in the Black community when he gave a MLK Day speech at Ebeneazer Baptist Church in Atlanta. It is real and it is a significant force. But that is not a sentiment you can pin on Obama, because it is just not where he is coming from. Ditto the anti-gay and anti-immigrant sentiment in the Black community.
Try again, Hill-bots!
Really? And how do you know this? Where he was sitting for 20 years speaks volumes to the contrary.
You see this denial RBOB, or BOBR, just opined?
It’s like that.
Obama surrounds himself with stench, but,oh, no, it’s THEM, it’s not Obama.
And Obama hangs with virulent Jew haters, why, again?
I don’t hang out with racists, I get bored, I think they’re stupid, and offensive to me, I don’t see I have anything in common with them, intellectually, our interests differ, I ma embarassed to be around them.
And Obama hangs out with Wright because?
This one has enough evidence to stink like an outhouse on a 110 degree day.
Am, not ma.
But “ma” didn’t like racists, either.
I don’t hang out with racists because getting upset over something as irrelevant as skin color is stupid. One might as well hate somebody because they have a tan. I don’t hang out with people like R-Bob because stupidity might be contaigous.
With many, though, whether white or black, (racists, that is) after the language comes action.
It leads to lynching, or murder, or beatings, and at an extreme end, mass terrorism.
We don’t solve problems this way, why do they?
And why would we be associated with men and women who think hate, blaming others, is justice?
Hey B-Rob, pull your socks up, your ankles are showing.
Eliza Doolittle: The difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she is treated.
Guess again.
Chuckle…..
I’m sorry, but I’ve read the “Preacher Papers” printed in Rev. Wright’s Trumpet Magazine. Mr. Hope cannot be involved with that man and his church and not agree with what he preaches or prints. People aren’t stupid. The first time I ever heard or read anything like that from a Rabbi, it would certainly be the last. Though my Rabbi would never say such hateful things about anyone, ever.
In fact, after Katrina, her Rosh Hashanah sermon was about the Katrina victims and how Bush ignored them and their plight. Our synagogue collected food for Katrina victims that year at Yom Kippur. My son’s Mitzvah project (charity) for his Bar Mitzvah was to raise money for (of all people) Randi Rhodes’ Katrina Victims Fund/Habitat for Humanity to help build new homes in NOLA.
I most assuredly wouldn’t listen to that hatred for 20 years. ONE TIME would be enough for me. Sorry. I don’t buy Mr. Hope’s story for one minute. He knew how the Rev. felt and he agreed with it or he would have left the church.
In the Good Pastor Wrights’ version of history I suppose Jews didn’t fight and die for the civil rights cause as well….and Pogroms were really voluntary relocation projects…
That’s what hurts so much. Jews have always fought for AAs and Civil Rights because we’ve always known, we’re NEXT in the discrimination line. And here it is. The day is upon us. The bigotry is, once again, aimed at us. It’s all so sad and destructive.
just like women
Separating from Wright when he did does not prove that Obama disagrees with Wright. It proves that Wright became a political liability for Obama.
My niece spent two summers gutting houses and assisting those in need. She now lives there…
She sent pictures and they are very disturing.
My wife a week on the phone trying to get her boss out of the dome.
3 mil in a day eh?
Where he came from?
He did not come from the south side of Chicago. Obama was brought up primarily by white relatives in primarily white neighborhoods and he went to very good schools. He chose to go to Chicago for purely polical power reasons - to make his career.
Also, as was previously stated, he chose to sit for 20 years and listen to the blatant anti-Jewish hate that spewed from that pulpit and never even thought about leaving. If he was so concerned about growing anti-semitism why did he not try and do something about it before it coincidently became a campaign issue now? And why did he make Wright an official campaign advisor?
Correction: you continue to spew, especially marking Zionism as some religion, when it never was and never can become.
You also have a reading comprehension problem. Bo back to your fellow brown shirts.
thank you for your post
this is so dangerous this kind of hate they are promoting
and to have it ‘mainstreamed’ through the Obama campaign which is what is happening is equally dangerous
Its like Wright, Lee, Meeks and Obama sitting nodding and clapping are mainlining hate into their veins, the bigots reduction ‘us’ and ‘them’ so far the ‘us’ is pretty small and the ‘them’ they hate is getting arger by the day
Spike Lee said we are gonna be swept into the ocean if we try to rests the great change coming, WTF is that about?
WAKE UP DNC WAKE UP
Good one, Larry! But the clip at YouTube has so far garnered 25 K views; if Barack Obama flows a fart and someone gets it on video it’ll get two million in an hour. Is there any evidence Axelrove is actually hiring people to ‘mob’ the threads at YouTube and Digg?
it’snotme,
Thank you for sharing your experience.
It speaks volumes about the underlying religious bigotry Obama is intentionally exploiting.
I hope that later in life, your son and his friend may meet and understand it is they, that can bridge the divide.
I hope so too. I hope that later in life, your son and his friend may meet and understand it is they, that can bridge the divide.
My son doesn’t have a bigoted bone in his body and would embrace the chance to bridge that divide.
“It speaks volumes about the underlying religious bigotry Obama is intentionally exploiting.”
What I’m not getting in all of this is how does Mr. Hope plan to win when he alienates a group of people where 70% of them vote Democratic? The last time I checked, 70% of Jews voted Democratic. He’s alienated many women, the Jewish community, the blue collar working class, insulted baby boomers, insulted “typical white people”, insulted Patriotic Americans, insulted the rich white Americans who “created AIDS in the AA community”….how exactly does he plan to win? It’s mind boggling. Is there anyone left to insult and look down his nose at?
Obamessiah and the minions are exploiting all forms of bigotry….Today’s target is anti-semitism. Typical Roman ( or as the God Pastor Wright calls them WHITE ) tactic…..DEVIDE AND CONQUER…..
My son doesn’t have a bigoted bone in his body.
That’s as it should be.
I have spent the afternoon trying to imagine who’s next on BO’s hit parade, as well as trying to recall who in recent history has been as completely politically tone deaf as BO is.
This is really about the victim mentality in the black community. They have been told for over forty years that all their problems are the result of a white ruling class, which includes a large number of Jews. Is is now ingrained in their character. And you see it being played out in these black churches with their racist preachers.
Now, there is truth to the fact that blacks do not have the same opportunites as affulent whites (or affulent blacks for that matter). But, that’s a class issue. As are the higher incarceration rates, etc; It’s hard to hire a good attorney when you have no money to pay them. And the fact is that no ethnic group that is either at or below the poverty level has the same opportunities as middle or upper-class people do. Money talks, period.
The difference is that other ethnic groups work to move up the class ladder. They work hard to get out of the cycle of poverty. But blacks are told that it is not their fault, it is society’s fault that they are in this situation. And they are not told to take responsibility for their actions or work hard to get out of their situation.
Perhaps the real issue is that black leaders have done very little for their people. But, instead of taking responsiblity for their leadership failures they divert attention away from themselves and focus their peoples’ hatred towards others.
Maybe instead of focusing on the race issue, these people would be better off to focus on the class issue and how to better themselves through education, work, responsiblity, etc;
Actually, this is about hateful kooks, black and white, and the corruption they breed.
I’m more concerned when Obama’s American “Jew haters” have political and money connections to Palestinians, Iranians, and Auchi, who, coincidentally, banked where Osama did, too. (Certain banks are kind of like the train stations, the hubs, for illegal money laundering groups, and such).
And now let’s look at Pakistan, and Hamas.
All that AA hate toward Jews, fired up and ready to go with a dash of middle east terrorism, is a little, um, sick, in a Presidential candidate. Someone wanna clue the stupid democratic leaders?
Who held the fund raiser for Obama, last week?
Saeed Amidi, all those Silicone Valley types, still stuck in the 80’s, even though it’s 2008?
People think Wall Street stinks, I guess we should look at Silicone Valley.
For fun.
Follow the money…
Just want Ms. Ziman to know I thank her for all the work she has done.
Be afraid, people, be very very afraid. The more I find out about Obama, the scarier it gets. What is going on? Pa people are ignorant, racist hicks, clinging to guns and religion, his crazy pastor friends blaming America and now the jews for all their problems, Rezko, money from big oil and insurance companies.
I loved MS. Ziman quoting from the poem on the Statue of Liberty. “Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free—”
She gets it! God Bless America!
Obama is not an American. He does not have any of the qualities that make us, as a people ,who we are .He does not understand the regular American . He thinks we are ‘”BITTER ” OR “TYPICAL”"”Our dreams are not his.
But mostly he does not like us, no, not one bit.
We are just the means to his End.
Amen!
We are just the means to his End.
By extension, those that are using Obama as a puppet pawn…
Wow, i’m not quite sure how much more of this ‘UNITY” this country can take. Frankly, I find Obama’s version of HOPE depressing as shit. Maybe I’m becoming bitter?
That would be the reaction of a typical white person, right? Guess I better go find a gun to cling to…
yes we should make a tshirt
Hi I’m bitter!
I also have PMS, a loaded firearm and God on my side!
maybe with a smiley face….
Something for the kiddies…coming to a primary near you!!
Barack Odumbo Pic
Oh, Ziman again. This is the woman who tried to poison the well by sending out anti-Obama mail when Obama was campaigning in Ohio.
I don’t believe a word she says.
She needs a new strategy and a new wig.
And she’s still a liar.
In an interview, Lee emphatically denied Ziman’s account.
Yeah, right, and that’s why Lee apologized today.
He denies what she claims he said.
He’s a better man to aplogize because she FELT offended.
you all are so so gone with the kool aid
a woman who works so hard for children is lying for what reason? why would she say such painful things?
If we didnt have video of Wright Im sure you would have said he never said those things either……
So she made the whole thing up? Uh huh, riiiight.. Someone who has fought for AAs: work with Children Uniting nations with African American children who are living out of home care. I have dedicated my life to saving these children from abuse, neglect and a life of crime. We created ‘adoption day’ and “Day of the child” determined to recruit caring adults to be mentors and life savers for our at risk children in the inner cities.
would make up this story about an AA Reverend? I don’t think so.
yeah Im sure that’s why he sent out an apology
Larry, I am so pleased you wrote this diary. Mine with same video was just deleted at mydd and I was sent a warning to promise Not to publish right wing trash. Censorship is an amazing phenomenon. But I have now sent links to this diary All over mydd. Keep up the good work. I was going to reconstruct the diary and see about publishing it elsewhre. Now I don’t have to
“right wing trash” ? How Ms Ziman’s story is right wing trash? Are they nuts at MyDD?
Wait till the Fall to see the real right wing trash…
[...] Those Damn Jews, Rap and Obama (by Larry Johnson at No Quarter) The Jews are responsible for rap. Click through for more information. [...]
The great uniter has already become the great divider. He has divided us by race, by class, by sex, and thanks to the anti-semetic ministers he considers spiritual advisers, he has now divided us by religion too.
He has also managed to increase the divide between the far left and centrist Democrats.
Yes, I guess I am bitter. I’m bitter that Barack Obama has set back civil rights 50 years in this country. Obama should step down now to salvage Democrats’ chance to win back the White House!
It is so distressing to read all the hate that Obama is stirring up. He says he wants an even bigger military — WHY? What does he have in mind?
I’d like to know just how many Rev. Wright theology churches around — his probably isn’t the only one teaching this sort of radical hate theology.
The hurt Obama is causing will take a long time to overcome.
The accusation of racism where none exists does nothing at all to help us understand that we are all members of the human race. Because I’m white and female I’ve had the “looks” in my direction — the “we know you are a racists” type look. I’ve not seen that sort of hostility in decades.
Genealogy is an educational process — when you put your ancestors in the context of the times they lived in. More than likely many of us have a trace of Jewish genes. During the Spanish Inquisition, Jews were forced to convert to Christianity, or die. Being practical, many Jews did convert. Some of these converts fled Spain and migrated to the New World — the British Colonies. I’ve traced one line to Maryland to a probable convert — and this isn’t unusual. There are family stories of Friday night rituals — and family members not sure why the drapes were pulled.
We don’t need the crap that Obama is selling.
What BULLSHIT!
This woman made a very nice speech about what? HOPE AND CHANGE! One of her HOSTS then proceeded to humiliate and mock her and pretty much call into question why she was selected for their award in the first place. And those hosts are all Obama supporters, whether official or unofficial.
It’s just BULLSHIT that these guys think those views are correct and should be repeated. it’s worse that Obama is relying on guys like that to propel him. It’s worse STILL that the media doesn’t call Obama on this. I think you’ll all agree that only ONE candidate gets scrutinized AT ALL, and it’s not Obama.
It just PISSES ME OFF that Kappa Alpha Psi USED this woman the way they did. And look at the list of people who were in the audience — have you heard that the Mayor of LA or the city councilman who used to be the police chief condemning this “minister” for his actions and words?
And worse yet, people in the audience told this woman that the guy slamming her was RIGHT and that she was getting what she deserved. It’s just fucking ungracious. You invited her to attend so you could give her an award in front of her peers and subordinates, so be polite and SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Do Obama and his supporters think they can go on doing this straight through to November? If so, they are totally deluded — the media might let them get away with it until the general election, but once those reporters start trying to push their real choice, McCain, the kid gloves treatment he’s used to is GONE.
I teach at a private Jewish school in the DC area. I’ve had plenty of kids tell me that their parents have decided that if Obama is the nominee, they will vote Republican for the first time in their lives. They simply do not trust Obama and they hate the people he’s chosen to associate himself with.
They aren’t fans of Hillary, either, but intended to vote for her if she were the nominee.
So who does Obama have? Intolerant Leftist Elites. African-Americans. Young people.
Wow, we haven’t seen a coalition like that since McGovern’s in ‘72.
Exactly my thoughts. Only McGovern was a gentleman next to this turkey. But the bashing will be the same if he steals the nomination. His ‘fans” will ruin it for him, just like 72. People do not want these children picking presidents and terrorizing everyone.
As for The Jewish connect, I still maintain that Obama’s goal is not to end the war, but to reverse the direction of the weaponry. Why else would he be so close to Zbigniew Brezinski and Rashid Khalidi. This is a very dangerous man. Remember when he said, “I’m not against ALL wars”?
John,
Then you need to tell them that they won’t have much of a future.
It is very sad that at a time when Democrats are back in charge and have a head of steam, they may end up nominating the most unelectable of the original candidates - someone they do not really know - and someone who will force key elements of the Democratic Party to vote for McCain.
Because I’m having trouble with my Flash player, I keep it turned off and so I read the comments on this thread before watching the video.
First, as an AA Hilllary supporter, what I’m seeing from a lot of AA Obama supporters is the idea that his running for POTUS is somehow going be the difference in what are very long felt feelings of bitterness that more than a few AAs have toward Jews. This antagonism should not be a part of the election debate as it is a purely AA agenda and way too complex for American citizens of other ethnicities to fully comprehend.
Let’s clear up a few things:
1. This is not the ideology of MLK. It is the doctrine of Malcolm X, (whom I personally admire, but don’t agree wholeheartedly with btw). Any AA Christian minister preaching this type of so-called Afrocentric rhetoric under the guise of Christian fraternity with MLK is a LIAR and distorting history. They are exploiting MLK’s good name and historical standing in 20th century American history. They also don’t have the guts to stand up for their adherence to Malcolm X’s ideology because they know Malcolm does not share the same good standing among whites. They hide behind Christianity and MLK’s reputation. (But hiding behind religion is not exclusive to the AA community.)
2. The issue that the AA community has with the movie industry, in particular, and the entertainment industry as a whole is legendary. The woman in the video simply has no idea the degree of resentment and anger AAs have about the stereotypical and negative images that have come out of Hollywood forever, along with the years of discrimination both in front of the camera and and behind.
The emergence of major black stars like Will Smith, Halle Berry (who is biracial like BO), Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, has not really changed the Hollywood practises behind the scenes in terms of what films get made as well as the staffing and employment of AAs in studios and on film crews. Anyone would be hardpressed to name one AA studio head. And the AAs who are employed within the rank and file studio system are mere tokens and powerless.
3. The anti-Zionist/anti Israel stance among some in the AA community is founded in the Black Nationalist Movement of the 60’s when militants decided to focus their ire on the many Jewish businesses as well as the many landlords who forced wretched housing on poor AAs. As many Jewish people in NYC fled the inner city and were replaced with newer immigrants doing the same thing (Rezko, anyone), the focus remained on the jews. In the 60’s, all of the militant ideology fused together. And it was during the Reagan Years that the sentiments you see now festered and grew into what we are seeing with these ministers. IMO, I think the influence of Islam among some AAs started the anti-Zionist sentiments.
I’m really angry to be talking about this right now because the whole situation is way too complex and not germaine to the larger national issues which the Priamry should be focused on.
The truth is that nothing about a Barack Obama presidency is going to change the movie industry. In the early 90s, the NAACP did a study which concluded that blacks spend some 3 billion dollars yearly going to the movies. This was before dvds and the Internet. Before Will Smith, even. After that study, I concluded that the we, the AA community share some of the responsibility for being mindless consumers instead of forcing the issue by merely withholding our consumer dollars. It was during this time period that I climbed on the ‘accountability’ wagon to some extent.
In the meantime, hip-hop, rap escalated into a real profit-making enterprise, but also, the Internet RADICALLY changed the whole music industry and I think, it’s about to change the movie industry as well. With all of these changes, AAs can’t ignore the fact with more black success stories and wealth, like Russell Simmons, we now have within our grasp to impact some of these desired changes by bringing competive product to the marketpace.
People like Quincy Jones have long enjoyed a prized position within the industry, but have been too afraid to jeopardize their exhalted position by making demands. They complain about negative images brought to us by whites, but it was Jones who produced that negative piece of shit The Color Purple.
Like I said, it’s complex, but as you can see, the AA community has allowed a slew of nefarious religious leaders to feed their anger and resentment. It’s a pretty nice hustle considering the million dollar home Wright is retiring to.
I was obvioulsly in the wrong business.
You are in thw wrong biz, mimi…what ever its. :)great insights…
After three or four millenia, it is still the same old anti-semitic story. Its the same old lies that go back from Biblical times to Hitler to Farrakan. Before the fall of the Soviet Union I used to wake up confused whether I was supposed to be working for the international Communist Jewist Conspiracy or the International Jewish Banking Conspiracy. Now I guess that I have the mortgage on Rev. Wright’s home. Forget the Jews that were active in the Civil Rights movement that gave their time, their money and their lives. We weren’t looking for gratitude but equal rights. I was marching with CORE while Eric Lee was still in the cradle.
