First, as an AA Hilllary supporter, what I’m seeing from a lot of AA Obama supporters is the idea that his running for POTUS is somehow going be the difference in what are very long felt feelings of bitterness that more than a few AAs have toward Jews. This antagonism should not be a part of the election debate as it is a purely AA agenda and way too complex for American citizens of other ethnicities to fully comprehend.

Let’s clear up a few things:

1. This is not the ideology of MLK. It is the doctrine of Malcolm X, (whom I personally admire, but don’t agree wholeheartedly with btw). Any AA Christian minister preaching this type of so-called Afrocentric rhetoric under the guise of Christian fraternity with MLK is a LIAR and distorting history. They are exploiting MLK’s good name and historical standing in 20th century American history. They also don’t have the guts to stand up for their adherence to Malcolm X’s ideology because they know Malcolm does not share the same good standing among whites. They hide behind Christianity and MLK’s reputation. (But hiding behind religion is not exclusive to the AA community.)

2. The issue that the AA community has with the movie industry, in particular, and the entertainment industry as a whole is legendary. The woman in the video simply has no idea the degree of resentment and anger AAs have about the stereotypical and negative images that have come out of Hollywood forever, along with the years of discrimination both in front of the camera and and behind.

The emergence of major black stars like Will Smith, Halle Berry (who is biracial like BO), Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, has not really changed the Hollywood practises behind the scenes in terms of what films get made as well as the staffing and employment of AAs in studios and on film crews. Anyone would be hardpressed to name one AA studio head. And the AAs who are employed within the rank and file studio system are mere tokens and powerless.

3. The anti-Zionist/anti Israel stance among some in the AA community is founded in the Black Nationalist Movement of the 60’s when militants decided to focus their ire on the many Jewish businesses as well as the many landlords who forced wretched housing on poor AAs. As many Jewish people in NYC fled the inner city and were replaced with newer immigrants doing the same thing (Rezko, anyone), the focus remained on the jews. In the 60’s, all of the militant ideology fused together. And it was during the Reagan Years that the sentiments you see now festered and grew into what we are seeing with these ministers. IMO, I think the influence of Islam among some AAs started the anti-Zionist sentiments.

I’m really angry to be talking about this right now because the whole situation is way too complex and not germaine to the larger national issues which the Priamry should be focused on.

The truth is that nothing about a Barack Obama presidency is going to change the movie industry. In the early 90s, the NAACP did a study which concluded that blacks spend some 3 billion dollars yearly going to the movies. This was before dvds and the Internet. Before Will Smith, even. After that study, I concluded that the we, the AA community share some of the responsibility for being mindless consumers instead of forcing the issue by merely withholding our consumer dollars. It was during this time period that I climbed on the ‘accountability’ wagon to some extent.

In the meantime, hip-hop, rap escalated into a real profit-making enterprise, but also, the Internet RADICALLY changed the whole music industry and I think, it’s about to change the movie industry as well. With all of these changes, AAs can’t ignore the fact with more black success stories and wealth, like Russell Simmons, we now have within our grasp to impact some of these desired changes by bringing competive product to the marketpace.

People like Quincy Jones have long enjoyed a prized position within the industry, but have been too afraid to jeopardize their exhalted position by making demands. They complain about negative images brought to us by whites, but it was Jones who produced that negative piece of shit The Color Purple.

Like I said, it’s complex, but as you can see, the AA community has allowed a slew of nefarious religious leaders to feed their anger and resentment. It’s a pretty nice hustle considering the million dollar home Wright is retiring to.

I have spent the afternoon trying to imagine who’s next on BO’s hit parade, as well as trying to recall who in recent history has been as completely politically tone deaf as BO is.

Denial is nothing more than willful stubborness, at times. No one can say what is really on the minds of Obama’s jewish supporters. All I know is that once upon a time, Jesse Jackson, in losing his cool over the relentless needling from Mayor Koch, responded with his infamous ‘Hymie Town” remark and he’s never been able to live this down. But for some reason, Obama is getting a pass on his relationship with Wright, Farrakahn, his anti-Israel advisers, all of whom are on record as saying stuff way more inflammatory and threatening than Jackson’s derogatory assignation of NYC under Ed Koch’s mayoralty. (BTW, Koch was annoying ass and was guilty of hurling his own brand of derogatory statements, which he got away with.)

So this is what I have learned this election cyle: that some jews are no longer sensitive about comments once perceived as anti-semitic and that clearly they seem to be able to see things from the Palestinian perspective. They are true Obama acolytes. They have transcended.

Blacks, on the other hand, are still married to the politics of racialism and seeing the world in the various slights leveled in our direction as racist. Blacks have NOT transcended. And nobody better dare ask us to. At least not until Barack Obama has been nominated and elected POTUS. And who knows, maybe not even then.

You can call this rhetoric if you like. I see it as some serious forces at play and I’m going to do everything in my power to stop it!
