Dear Sen. Obama (from an African-American woman)

Susan’s Note: Chastity sent this letter to me, and I found it so powerful that I asked her permission to share it with all of you. She agreed, and I’m honored to post this.
_______________________________

Dear Senator Obama:

My name is Chastity and I’m a 33-year-old African-American woman. I was deeply saddened and disturbed by your comments about Senator Clinton. A woman has a right to defend the 2nd amendment without condescending comparisons that represent your lack of knowledge in regards to the women’s suffrage plight.

“Who does she think she is? Annie Oakley?”

I want to answer that question. If you are asking if Senator Clinton is similar to Ms. Oakley in her amazing talent and timely rise to fame which propelled her to become the first American female superstar, then I agree with that depiction.

I must tell you I am deeply offended that you find it humorous that she would defend the right of men or women to bear arms. If it were not for the media’s disdain for Senator Clinton, your not-so-humorous comments would be put in their appropriate context.

You expressed regret in regards to your wording of the “bitterness” of small town citizen’s economic struggles but, the next day, you disparaged Senator Clinton regarding her defense of constitutional freedoms. I am appalled by the media’s lack of outrage. (Women everywhere should also be outraged!)

Senator McCain also referred to your comments as elitism and out-of-touch. So does that mean he’s the Lone Ranger?

It is also fair to note you did not make any jokes at Senator McCain’s expense.

In a time when we have the possibility of an African-American or female president, to have one of the candidates publicly demean another candidate is unacceptable. I implore you to not only apologize publicly to Senator Clinton but to educate yourself on Ms. Oakley’s contributions to society. She broke stereotypes, and she engaged in extensive, albeit quiet, philanthropy for women’s rights and other causes.

“Shame on you.” “You should know” that using humor as a vehicle to degrade someone that expressed justified concern about your misrepresentation of small town America as “bitter” — instead of “ungratified” — only antagonizes the up-hill battle that women face in the fight for equality.

If elected president, you will not only represent the ungratified small towns, but you will also represent Senator Clinton and her right to protect unalienable rights. To mock her remarks because your statements were “self admittedly inappropriate” is wrong.

You are displaying an antipathy for someone who represents thousands of American women who have been disparaged for centuries. And you abet the continued inappropriate characterization that woman cannot lead a country or defend a nation.

As an African-American, I am “very proud” to have someone of your caliber representing us in the presidential race, but as a woman I am “equally proud” of Senator Clinton for the same reason.

There is nothing funny about that!

Sincerely,

Chastity from Texas

Thank you for sharing this letter Chastity, please send it to the Clinton campaign as well!

Comment by Blue State Girl | 2008-04-14 11:54:59

Does Chastity plan to send this to Obama if she hasn’t done so already? I’d be curious to see what kind of response she gets from his campaign, if any.

Comment by Catriley | 2008-04-14 11:59:48

Hopefully the Obama campaign won’t have Donna Brazille answering it — we know how that’s been going.

Comment by Doug from Lake Zurich, IL | 2008-04-14 12:52:43

So I noticed. Too bad the Obama campaign doesn’t have Ms. Brazile play a greater role. She’s eventually worth 8-10 points at the polls to Hillary.

Next to Bob Shrum, Donna Brazile’s probably the most overpaid, underperforming Democrat still drawing a party paycheck. But for her rank incompetence and appalling lack of political judgment as head of his campaign management, Al Gore would doubtless be president today.

Comment by beebop | 2008-04-14 13:07:00

She has backed more Democrats that can’t win than anyone else alive. She is the Typhoid Mary of presidential politics. Wikipedia.org has a wicked profile, including some unpleasant allegations that got her fired from a campaign.

Comment by Melissa | 2008-04-14 15:25:58

Typhoid Mary! OMG that is great- so maybe we should be glad she is backing Obama?

“Next to Bob Shrum, Donna Brazile’s probably the most overpaid, underperforming Democrat still drawing a party paycheck. But for her rank incompetence and appalling lack of political judgment as head of his campaign management, Al Gore would doubtless be president today.”

I am glad someone finally said that. I feel the exact same way. Everytime I see or hear Donna I get so upset remembering the exceedingly poor campaign she ran for Gore. Same for Shrum.

In the real world people who performed this badly would still not have a job.

This is a beautifully written letter with a very powerful message. Thank you so much for sharing it.

Comment by Catriley | 2008-04-14 12:01:43

Thank you to Chastity for that powerful letter. I do hope that the Obama campaign takes notice, and that the MSM understands how offensive his attacks are. I’m tired of his ‘mocking’ and ‘ridicule’ of Hillary. He doesn’t seem to be able to simply disagree with her, he has to demean and ridicule her. We don’t need another one of those in the White House.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-04-14 14:36:42

I’m also tired of his mocking and ridicule of Hillary. But how stupid is he to be actually mocking and ridiculing voters whose support the party needs in November? I’m old (a member of the ole gun-totin’ boomer cracker wimmin demographic, to be specific), but I cannot remember another politician of either party who so disparaged voters, especially those in his own party.

Comment by Bud White | 2008-04-14 12:01:46

Excellent post. Obama’s reference to Annie Oakley is a sexist dog whistle, which is now a familar plan of attack from Obama.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-04-14 12:11:59

The guy hates women so much he can’t help himself. He can’t help it if is old man was a drunken bum and his grandmother was a bank VP. The man is obsessively sexist and that is why any woman in America who doesn’t see his danger signals is a fool. Presidential shit rolls down hill into the workplace. I wouldn’t vot for this pig if you put a gun in my mouth.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-04-14 12:13:39

Nation of Islam thinks women are shit. Beware young women! You might get what you ask for.

I just had to share this with you since you make me laugh so hard when I am here. Found this at IMAO along with an entire list of laugh outloud shit, but this is the best:

If bitter people are clinging to guns, don’t we need a president whose smart enough not to upset them?

Comment by hillarysmygirl | 2008-04-14 16:20:09

LOL!! Exactly! Thanks, beebop.

Uppity makes me laugh too.

Obama’s reference to Annie Oakley is a sexist dog whistle

It’s a compliment, showing gross ignorance on behalf of Obama’s campaign.

They don’t know how other people think.

For ops, that’s just sad.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-04-14 14:39:23

True. She’s Annie Oakley, and he’s a guy whose weapon of choice would be a “six-shooter” when he’s “on” a duck blind. Competence vs. hype.

I could vote as many times as I wish in that poll. I do not have a dynamic IP address. If it were a poll of people in PA towns or towns in America, I might consider it a poll. But the DNC is doing that for us right now. Because you see, it’s not what I think that counts, it’s what those gun totin’ god-obsessed hicks think that counts. And we will definitely find out on the 22nd. Now THAT’s a poll.

Comment by jkay | 2008-04-14 12:06:11

We are electing the POTUS. It sounds like sometimes we are electing the class president. There is already a ‘cheerleader’ in the White House. We don’t need another one.

One thing I haven’t read about, or have seen mentioned is this little fact. The POTUS goes overseas and sees other heads of states. Can you imagine BO telling Putin, or any other head of state, “Shame on you, you should know better.” He always says he ‘misspoke.’ You don’t get a do-over, with something like that.

Don’t think that this should be about ‘my guy is winning, and yours isn’t.’ This is your life, and your future we are talking about here. Wake up people, look at this realistically, this is not some fantasy land we are in.

Comment by TeresaINPa | 2008-04-14 12:13:25

Thank you Chastity. As a woman I didn’t even think about the gender based insult that Obama was making calling Clinton Annie Oakley. All I could think of is “why does he always make fun of people”?

As a person from Pa I was offended that he would characterize people the way he did. I am not supporting Obama, but it is not because I am afraid of him for being black or can’t hear his wonderfulness because I am too busy clinging to my guns (I don’t own one) or God.
I am not supporting him because I think Clinton is a better candidate who will make a better president.

Comment by Gregoryp | 2008-04-14 13:13:10

Why does Obama make fun of people? It’s his schtick. When speaking to group A he makes fun of or criticizes groups B & C. When he is speaking to group B he makes fun of A & C. When he is speaking to C he makes fun of A & B. It is his way of giving the old wink and a nod I am like you. It is his way of maintaining the tabula rosa state, but it marks him as a cynical con artist who is trying to get one over on everyone.

The real unfortunate thing is that he probably would have won the nomination hands down if he’d have been a person with honesty and integrity. All dems would have supported this guy. Now he has no chance at winning the general because of this weird behavior.

Comment by Salo | 2008-04-14 13:36:25

That’s an LSAT question.

A political party is electing a new leader for the 2008 election. Candidate O disses public H in location SF with public L against issue GGG, but cannot diss them in location PA with public H.

footage of candidate O dissing public H reaches location PA.

Candidate M is comfortable with issue GGG and will use it mercilessly to defeat Candidate O among Public H in location PA.

Party D should do which of the following:

(A)Cower
(B)Kiss Its Ass Goodbye
(C)Keep digging
(D)Blame Candidate C

Remember there will be more than one correct answer, in fact all of them are potentially true. Your job is to pick the best most complete answer.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-04-14 14:48:52

“if he’d have been a person with honesty and integrity.”

Ah, what might have been. Hillary has always been my first choice, but I could easily have supported Edwards or Obama or just about any of the other Democratic candidates who ran. Obama ended that when he started the racism accusations, and he only reinforces my determination not to vote for him every time he says something like this.

INCOMING>>>>>>
I am “honored” to respond to Chastity’s chastising of Senator Obama, especially to the interesting conflation of the 2nd amendment with women’s suffrage alluded to in the opening paragraph.

It seems that Chastity needs to bone up on the content of the Constitution, instead of parroting Clinton talking points; she might even consider actually reading some of Senator Obama’s lesson plans on Constitutional law.
The following article, by Robert Parry, gives an interesting perspective on what may have despoiled the good lady Chastity’s chastity.

Sir Scud, that was a stupid article. Who cares if Hillary attracted sniper fire or she didn’t. The story is better with sniper fire. These are not issues that most people even care about. If you think slamming Bill Clinton because of his piccadillos will make people dislike him, you are wrong. The man left office a beloved president and will remain for the rest of his life, a beloved president. Times were good during the Clinton years and hopefully will be good again during 8 more Clinton years. All the Clinton critics should get over themselves. The majority of people have figured all you guys out and we all think you are stupid.

And if you think Obama is a nice person, I know you are stupid. When are you going to do some investigating and vetting of this guy? There will be big trouble ahead if this “project” ever gets into office.

Comment by Janis | 2008-04-14 12:41:13

… what may have despoiled the good lady Chastity’s chastity.

You Obamabots are literally incapable of making a point without some sort of crude sexual slur, aren’t you?

I know what’ll convince those Hillary supporters to vote for Obama! Unsubtle virginity and rape jokes! Yeah, that’ll do it!

Comment by beebop | 2008-04-14 13:01:41

See, there you go again, lecturing without honoring the feelings of the person speaking.

That is the whole issue with PrObama. If you want a list of where he has lied, someone here has the entire unabridged version …. does it include the approprioate portion of his speech where he lauds the same Reverand Wright he now moves to the back of his spiritual bus …. here, I’ll add it just for fun:

“And this helps explain, perhaps, my relationship with Reverend Wright. As imperfect as he may be, he has been like family to me. He strengthened my faith, officiated my wedding, and baptized my children. Not once in my conversations with him have I heard him talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms, or treat whites with whom he interacted with anything but courtesy and respect. He contains within him the contradictions — the good and the bad — of the community that he has served diligently for so many years.

I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can disown my white grandmother ”

Rereading that “speech” in light of the unmasking of Senator Obama’s true feelings with regard to people “unlike himself” — people of no color, if you will — is a true eye opener. When the crescendo of applause for the speech dies down and it is read within the context in which it was delivered — to quell the outragious introduction that American’s had to his spiritual “family” — when the word “bitter” is tracked over and over and Americans are held up by Obama in a light unflattering while he keeps himself off to the side as if he and only he has the power or answers to make the blind see and the deaf hear, and yet stumbles again with question of RACE that is seen over and over only by his campaign — injected like a fatal illness into each and every discussion as though it is the only reason that a voter would choose the more qualified, skilled, experienced and compassionate Clinton, your very soul screams out: OBAMA, YOU ARE THE RACIST!

Comment by Mel | 2008-04-14 13:25:46

Sir Scud, we already read up on Senator Obama’s Constitutional law lesson plans!

Here is one for you that was found most enlightening:

Say to the voters, you will tear up NAFTA, then send your advisor Goolsbee to the Canadian’s and have him tell them it is all campaign rhetoric, then deny deny deny completely, then when proven by a memo, say “that isn’t what was meant or said”

We have not forgotten lesson plan #2 either Sir Scud!

“Just Words, Just Words”!

Or lesson plan #3

“Say anything to get elected!”

And for good measure Sir Scud, will add lesson plan #4:

We will not run a camaign based on demeaning opponents, that is politics of old and we bring change to Washington”

So I will honorably ask you Sir Scud, how can a Senior Lecturer (not a Professor as he claims to be) give lectures on a course he has continually failed at himself?

Isn’t that the same as dummies teaching dummies?

So please Sir Scud, recoil yourself and apologize for your arrogant remarks to Chastity from Texas before you recuse yourself to the teachings of a teacher who has actually passed a grade and not one who is a continual been a failure at it!

Thank you!

Whose lesson plans on Constitutional Law did Obama copy?

Comment by Peter | 2008-04-15 10:04:55

SirScud,
Are you missing the bigger picture? It is not OK for Sen Obama to ridicule or dismiss with comptempt, the remarks and disagreements of his opponents. And futher more his Annie Oakley remarks were sexist to say the least. If he would like to engage in a debate over opposing views, there is no reason to revert to that kind of behaviour. It shows a def elitis attitude toward people who do not agree with him.

Comment by jwrjr | 2008-04-14 12:30:46

SirScum is not only an idiot for not understanding what Chastity (and Senator Clinton) were talking about, he is a condescending idiot for assuming that Chastity was too stupid to get her constitutional references right. She (both ’she’s) were talking about the right to bear arms, not about women’s suffrage.

Comment by HCT | 2008-04-14 12:40:27

Delurking after a year of reading, only because his/her comment irritated me so much. SirScud is not only condescending, he/she is a misogynist.
Chastity’s chastity? What the heck is that about, what does it have to do with anything, and why would he/she feel it was acceptable?
Are all Obama supporters like this? I’ve seen the ones who post here, but I wrote off KOS, TPM and other sites that have become an arm of the Obama team months ago.

It is based upon the Obama standard of walking around with a vibrating phone in the pants pocket theory!

When not able to have the same balls as a Clinton, manufacture a substitute! Buzz buzz buzz!

Comment by Baraboo Johnny | 2008-04-14 12:45:09

Me thinks Sir Dud is doing the conflating. Ain’t it funny how such a simple statement can be misconstrued or maybe twisted would be a better word, to shore up Dudley’s weak position.

I went to his link and it was the same warmed over pap the Hillary-haters have been dishing up for years. Talk about parroting the party line! Let’s get Sir Dumpling a box of crackers.

Comment by jes | 2008-04-14 12:49:58

I’m not quite sure who Obama thinks he’s appealing to with these personal attacks on Clinton, but I think he’s making a mistake and these comments are going to back-fire on him as per the young lady who wrote this letter.

Obama mocks Clinton ‘throwing back a shot and a beer’

Comment by Catriley | 2008-04-14 13:03:29

This is getting to be a pattern from Obama “Obama mocks…” “Obama mocks…” What a snarky elitist he is… We’re all full up with smart ass elites. Obama is playing to his angriest followers. What an awful person. Hillary has called him on his BS, but the term “Hillary mocks…” has not been seen.
Mocking and ridicule is McCain and OBama’s thing. Have you noticed?

I frankly thought that the story of Hillary throwing back a few cold ones was awesome! She’s a midwest girl for sure.

Comment by jes | 2008-04-14 13:44:43

I thought it made her look like a woman of the people.

When he ridicules Hillary for shooting guns and having a drink, he’s essentially ridiculing the working-class values. The same values that he insulted last weekend. The man seems to be a tone-deaf a**hole. He’s clueless.

I’m beginning to think the BHO has foot-in-mouth disease. Let’s hope it brings him down. ;-)

Comment by jwrjr | 2008-04-14 14:04:10

If you want to convince someone that “I understand where you are coming from”, you are not going to do much better than by sitting down with them and having a beer (or coffee or whatever they are drinking) with them. For some reason sitting down with billionaires and insulting people just isn’t very convincing.

Comment by eriezindian | 2008-04-14 13:40:35

I, for one, am glad to see Sen. Clinton is confident enough to go into a bar and have a beer, with or without a chaser. Voters in bars deserve to see a candidate just as much as wine sippers on Billionaire Row, San Francisco. BTW, in my small town in Western Pa., that is called a ‘boilermaker’….so named from when we had steel mills and good jobs. Go Hillary!!!

I commend you and think you are MUCH nicer than I am about all of this. If the list wasn’t so dreadfully long of misstatements and rude comments made by HE and his Wife I might be where you are in understanding.

But my appreciation of anything BHO these days is very low.

Comment by yttik | 2008-04-14 13:16:35

That’s a great letter.

Actually I think obama should apologize for trying to use Annie Oakley as a form of mockery. Annie was an amazing woman and Obama is portraying her as a joke which is completely disrespectful.

I also think Obama is an idiot because he just buzzed the NRA and the gun crowd for the second time this week. A “six shooter in a duck blind” is going to be comedy for weeks and will certainly portray him as out of touch and ignorant about guns.

Comment by beebop | 2008-04-14 13:26:42

ABC is already running with a picture of Kerry morphed into Barack. It appears in the same spot as the comments from the NRA … who adds just a little more to the mix:

LaPierre says. “The same few who look down their nose at the people who respect basic American traditions like flying the flag, going to church, owning a gun, and believing in the Bill of Rights. Obama’s statement is a crack in the door that gives all of us a peek as to how the ’special’ people look at the rest of us. Americans can read that code.”

So, add in the flag flyers and the Bill of Rights and there is no one who shouldn’t be pissed.

Now, obviously these guys are all Republicans, just saying ….

Comment by beebop | 2008-04-14 13:20:11

Are you kidding, gbrown? Obama did not go to a “community college” for two years before transferring to Columbia. He went to Occidental College in Los Angeles, which is a pretty high-tone liberal arts college.”

I’m not criticizing anything other than the resume that BO puts out for the masses to lap up …

Did he REALLY go to Occidental for two years before Columbia? Am I the last human being to know this?

Courtesy of IMAO … there are some other really, really funny ones over there as well.

Look. I was having a really hard time falling asleep last night. We have got to know that Hillary Clinton (and Bill’s) instincts on this guy are right on the money. The others either thought that they could take over Cheney’s job or that BO would lose and 2018 is only 4 years from now. We really can’t do much about Kerry, Kennedy, Leahy, Dodd, or the rest except marvel at the degree to which they are willing to sell the party of their father out.

All we can do is work hard, vote and point out each and every mistake the guy makes and if that’s not good enough, well, we survived Bush. McCain at least knows stuff.

Claiming Clinton is “outraged” or concerned over his comments, and is “…someone who expressed justified concern…” is just stupid. Clinton is throwing anything she can to the wall to see if it sticks. She is disgusting.

All bitchez are. too bad we can’t win without them.

John:

What did Clinton do now? Obama dig this hole by himself: these were his deaf and disdainful comments.

What are you expecting that we applaud every stupidity Obama does?

Comment by Andy | 2008-04-14 21:02:48

John:

Clinton wasn’t the only one outraged: most Americans –aside from Obama fans — were. So you are in the minority here. Clinton’s reaction was like…almost everyone else reaction; minus the Obama fans.

It is your view that is skewed : what he said was wrong.

Michelle stepped in it today:

Loved ones often know us better than we know ourselves - and, unfortunately, often say things about us that we wouldn’t say ourselves. I’ve devoted a couple posts (here and here) to Michelle Obama’s speeches on behalf of her husband - and the growing evidence of Mrs. Obama’s “spoiled, privileged, yet unsatisfied and ever-resentful temperament,” which has produced views which are “not-so-subtly anti-American.”

Mrs. Obama’s most recent foray into the political wilderness is in response to the unexpected excitement caused by her husband’s unfortunate condescension of bitter, gun-totting, Bible-thumpin’ country bigots in Pennsylvania. Michelle, by way of defending her husband, imparted such gems of wisdom and revelation as:

We live in isolation, and because of that isolation we fear one another.

Because Barack Obama is the only person in this race who understands that. That before we can work on the problems we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation.

Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual; uninvolved, uninformed.

Clinging to their guns and gods, their antipathy to people who aren’t like them and free-trade, the uninvolved, uninformed, broken-souled xenophobes of the United States unknowingly yearn for a great awakening by their pastor-president, Barack Obama. Or so the Obamas seem to see it. I wonder how many Americans share their sentiment.

Thank you for the letter — Shirley Chisholm would have approved of it — I am sure!

I thought it was sexist the very minute I heard it and I totally agree with this article.

Barack Obama also made comments about Hillary having a beer and pizza at a bar.

He would NOT say that if it was McCain having a beer and a pizza at a bar.

SO WHAT, Barack Obama. This is AMERICA and women are allowed to drink every now and then and hunt if they want to.

Hillary was right to stand up for small town PA and small town mid-west and all of small Town USA!

Barack Obama did not just say that some people are bitter because they are missing work.
____________________

Barack Obama was asked why he thinks he’s having trouble getting the working class vote.

Barack Obama said they are cynical, and plus he’s a Black guy called Barack Obama (millionaires laugh).

After insinuating that they were too racist to vote for him, he went on to explain that small towners in PA and in the mid-west cling to their guns and they cling to their religion, and they do not like anyone who is not like them, and they do not like immigrants and they are anti-trade.

Barack Obama said all this at a PRIVATE millionaire fundraiser in upscale Pacific Heights CA, in a mansion. Barack Obama did not think anyone else would find out what he was saying since he was across the country and not in front of any cameras.

If you want to know how I interpret it: I see it as an arrogant liberal elitist politician who called small town USA a bunch of gun-toting bible thumper xenephobes who are too racist and too dumb to vote for him, and he thinks they are beneath him AND the rich west coast liberals he was talking to. Problem is, the USA is mainly small town USA! And he also stabbed the Republican monster with his words on top of offending millions in America.

Katherine11:33PMApr 13th 2008

Wait a second. Obama made these statements about small town USA not only in front of elitist rich people in Pacific Heights…

But it was a fundraiser at a multi-millionaire’s mansion with many millionaires present and the media was disallowed. So, he was speaking as though no one else would find out.

The mansion is owned by multi-millionaire “Pakistan native and ardently Muslim Sohaib Abbasi (CEO of Informatica)”….

Here. Look at all the pictures of the string of millionaire and billionaire fundraisers Obama went to in San Fran:

Chastity - awesome letter! So well written and like Susan said, extremely powerful! Thank you for taking a stand against the sexist, chauvinstic remarks BO and the media keep shoveling up each and every day! I’m a woman and yes, I’m OUTRAGED, have been for over a year thanks to this circus.

when will you learn that Hillary will say anything to get back into the white house. that is what he was trying to tell you not that there is anything wrong with being gun toting or religious. he was pointing out that she will say anything to get what she wants. you really think she know the first thing about guns. remember bill tried to take your guns away but she is all for guns because it will get her elected.

As a woman I am outraged, and as a human being I am outraged. Thank you for an excellent letter. You have written it all down far better than I could have written it, and at the same time expressed all of my feelings towards this man. When I saw the video of him making those mocking statements, looking at his feet and chuckling, I was sickened.
I would be extremely happy if this person would just go away and give America a break. A mile wide and an inch deep. Out of touch? More like out of his desperately small mind. He keeps the insults coming, and I keep donating to Senator Clinton.
Something good has to come of this.

Wonderful letter.

I think he still doesn’t get that it isn’t as much about bitter as the values he degrades of folks that he apparently deems more common than he.

I think he shot himself in the foot again by comparing her to Annie Oakley. He sounds very petulant in the clip that I saw of this and the media seems to love this sound bite. Comparing her to Annie Oakley will win her points with the gun crowd and also the cowgirl loving crowd!

“Typical White Person” Grandma Banker paid Barry Hussein Obama’s way through college. Granny was a strong succesful woman and Barko has a complex against strong, successful white women. Imagine having a grandmother who was a Banker in those times. You know she rolled in the dough. Ungrateful fook throws his generous Granny under the bus. What a pr*ck. No backbone.

I thought I was the only one to be appalled at Sen Obama’s response to Sen Clinton’s disagreement with his comments on working class Americans. I thought to myself that his ridiculing her, and misconstruing her remarks, about being taught to shoot by her father as a child, showed the elitism that I do think Sen Obama is really guilty of- intellectual elitism. He may not have grown up rich, and may not have been a child of privilege, but he has grown up to be the kind of intellectual elitist who thinks that he is smarter than any one else, and that his philosophy is the correct one. Sen Obama seems to dismiss, with ridicule and sarcasm, and a snicker, any one who opposes his philosophies. I am thinking this is bordering on a very narcissistic and yes elitist tendency.
