• • The Quinn bin: Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn apparently is the only one with a good memory and admitted being at the Rezko party, attending late, and welcoming Auchi on behalf of the state of Illinois. …

Tonight’s debate, carried by ABC News, airs in prime-time. That means that those of us on the West Coast won’t see it until 8:00 p.m. PST, three hours after you on the East Coast will have seen the debate. (Probably, ABC News will grant C-Span permission to reair the debate later.)

ABC scored a primetime debate between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama less than a week before the April 22 Pennsylvania primary. Gibson and chief Washington correspondent George Stephanopoulos will moderate.
“The stakes, at least for Sen. Clinton, couldn’t be higher,” Stephanopoulos said. “Pennsylvania has become a must-win.”
Both Clinton and Republican candidate Sen. John McCain have made hay out of Obama’s recent comment that economically downtrodden voters in small Pennsylvania towns “cling to guns or religion” because they are “bitter,” words that Obama later admitted were ill-chosen.
Gibson drew rave reviews for the January 5 debate at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, as well as a 2004 presidential debate. He’s been cramming for the past several days on the usual debate topics and also a few esoteric ones, like carbon sequestration — storing carbon and coal plants underground to reduce greenhouse gases.
“It’s a subject I don’t know a whole lot about, and it probably won’t come up,” Gibson said. “But I don’t know beans about carbon sequestration, so I read up on it.”

Just hours before tonight’s big Pennsylvania debate, Barack Obama kept his pledge to release his income tax return for 2007.
It shows that he and his wife Michelle earned more than in previous years — more than $4.2 million, with about $261,000 from salaries and the rest from book royalties.
The return also shows that the couple paid nearly $1.4 million in federal taxes and gave about $240,000 to charity.
So far NO QUESTIONS about Tony Rezko and Obama’s sweetheart real estate deal.
No questions about how many days he spent in Ill senate…and why does he say he does NOT take $$$ from lobbyists, when he has and DOES. Exelon [Illinois nuclear power developers] had head lobbyist give Obama $27,000.00.
This was in NYTimes and got no traction in the Media.

Schultz opened by telling us that “Hillary’s negatives have gone way up, this happens every time the Clintons throw the mud, every time they launch these Barack Attacks..” (in other words, whenever they bring up legitimate questions about her opponent which are twisted into desperate, racist attacks by the media.)
What’s happened with Barack’s negatives when he’s attacked Hillary? Oh, that’s right, he never does attack Hillary. He’s Senator Above the Fray, D- Big Rock Candy Mountain.
Actually, Schultz didnt’ say a word about Obama’s negatives. Because that would have required using the words “negative” and “Obama” too closely together in the same sentence. And that might just get him banned from his regular gig as Designated Obamapoligist on Larry King Live.

Last night Anderson Cooper on CNN actually ran a long BIO of Obama that was a campaign demo made by and for Obama.
St. Wonder Boy was annointed by CNN with no apologies, and this bordered on unethical,unbalanced, and full of inaccuracies. It left out chunks of BO’s past and was a total puff piece.
Sad. This is not journalism.

There is no love lost between Carter and Bill Clinton. As I recall, Carter made a bit of trouble for Bill during his administraton by going off and trying to negotiate with foreign governments and really ticked Bill off. The best to be hoped for is that Carter stays neutral.

Some of what I do for a living is forensic audio. Compare the youtube clip of the same segment to O’s ad and you’ll hear it for yourself. Compare the loudness of the jeers to the level of Clinton’s voice and you’ll see how much louder and more present they are in O’s ad. It sounds like they did a slick volume move to boost the level of the audio just when the jeers start. I’ll check it more thoroughly tomorrow in the lab and report back.

The Times of London follows the money in the journalistic tradition of Watergate and finds a strange connection between Tony Rezko, Barack Obama, and Nadhmi Auchi.
The latter, one of Britain’s richest men, has a long history of shady financial dealings as well as numerous connections to Saddam Hussein, who he helped to power.
According to the Times, Auchi sent a lot of money to Rezko just before his wife bought property adjacent to the Obamas in a land deal that has already raised a lot of eyebrows:
A British-Iraqi billionaire lent millions of dollars to Barack Obama’s fundraiser just weeks before an imprudent land deal that has returned to haunt the presidential contender, an investigation by The Times discloses.
The money transfer raises the question of whether funds from Nadhmi Auchi, one of Britain’s wealthiest men, helped Mr Obama buy his mock Georgian mansion in Chicago.
A company related to Mr Auchi, who has a conviction for corruption in France, registered the loan to Mr Obama’s bagman Antoin “Tony” Rezko on May 23 2005. Mr Auchi says the loan, through the Panamanian company Fintrade Services SA, was for $3.5 million.
Three weeks later, Mr Obama bought a house on the city’s South Side while Mr Rezko’s wife bought the garden plot next door from the same seller on the same day, June 15.
Why is this important to the land deal?
Mrs Rezko paid the asking price for the garden but the Obamas bought the house for $1.65 million, - $300,000 less than the asking price. The sellers deny they offered the Obamas a discount on the house because the garden had fetched full price from Mrs Rezko.
They took 15% less than the asking price? That’s a rather remarkable discount. And how exactly did the Rezkos afford to buy the adjacent plot? It cost $625,000, and they needed to make a $125,000 down payment on the land. Yet at the time, Tony Rezko had “no income, negative cash flow, no liquid assets, no unencumbered assets [and] is significantly in arrears on many of his obligations” — according to a sworn court statement a year later. His wife had an income of $37,000 and assets of around $35,000.
How could they qualify for a mortgage on the adjacent plot? Where did they get the money for the down payment? More importantly, why did Auchi lend so much money to Rezko, when Rezko had been in such financial straits? And why was Auchi so interested in Rezko in the first place?
Let’s take another look at Auchi:
Auchi’s brother was among the many Baathists killed by Saddam, but the execution did not inhibit Auchi’s business dealings with Iraq which, he says, didn’t stop until the Gulf war of 1991. His first coup in the West was to broker a deal to sell Italian frigates to the Iraqi Defence Ministry, for which he received $17m in commission. Italian investigators claimed that a Panamanian company owned by Auchi was used to funnel allegedly illegal payments. Auchi denied he had done anything wrong.
In the mid-1980s he got to know Pierfrancesco Pacini Battaglia, a man whose role in directing money to politicians led Italians to call him ‘the one below God’. Saddam Hussein had ordered the construction of a pipeline from Iraq to Saudi Arabia. Battaglia and Auchi secured the contract for a Franco-Italian consortium. In a statement to New York lawyers Battaglia alleged he knew how. ‘To acquire the contract it was necessary, as is usual, especially in Middle Eastern countries, to pay commission to characters close to the Iraqi government… In this case, the international intermediary who dealt with this matter was the Iraqi, Nadhmi Auchi.’ Auchi has denied any wrong-doing.
Nick Cohen suggests that Britain only extradited Auchi to France to face fraud charges in 2003 because our invasion of Iraq had ended his usefulness as an expert on the Hussein regime for MI-6. In any case, Auchi also allegedly had a hand in defrauding the UK’s National Health System after his fleecing of the French oil company Elf.
It’s probable that other revelations are yet to come that will show Obama to be just another machine politician, skirting the edge of ethics and the law – perhaps even going over the line and engaging in criminal activities.
Obama is not the Agent of Change. He is a calculating politician who plays the game the same way politicians have been playing it for hundreds of years – receiving money in exchange for favors from government for his friends and cronies, the influence selling, the sweetheart deals, and all the rest of this sleazy mess.
There seems to be a lot more to Rezko than just slumlording. When a figure like Auchi gives a low-rent figure like Rezko that kind of money, he’s not looking to expand tenement ownership.
I did a little googling, and I know Auchi’s terrorist supplying arm reaches far.
My question has to do with Russia, though, does he have business dealings there, major business dealings?

“The sudden emergence of Auchi into this story indicates Rezko’s deals may include a money trail leading back to dead Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Auchi’s Saddam links trace back to a failed 1959 assassination attempt on the life of then-Iraqi-prime-minister Abdul Karim Qasim. Auchi’s General Mediterranean Holdings company was also the largest private shareholder in Banque Nationale de Paris which later merged with Paribas to become BNP Paribas. At Saddam’s insistence, billions of dollars of Oil for Food transactions passed through BNP from its 1995 inception until 2001.
In January 2004, Iraqi newspaper Al-Mada published a list of 270 Oil for Food beneficiaries. The list was translated and published on line by The Middle East Media Research Institute. Hundreds of millions of dollars of Oil for Food money was illegally diverted to buy Saddam favor from the United Nations, possibly reaching as high as Secretary general Kofi Annan’s son. Also receiving million’s from Saddam’s slush fund were heads of state and their associates from Russia, France, China, and numerous Islamic countries.
The Auchi-Obama links go beyond the mansion deal. The Times of London February 1 reports uncovering, “state documents in Illinois recording that Fintrade Services, a Panamanian company, lent money to (an) Obama fundraiser in May 2005. Fintrade’s directors include Ibtisam Auchi, the name of Mr. Auchi’s wife.” Auchi, a Chaldean Christian, was later pardoned by Qasim. As Saddam’s Baath party took power, Auchi prospered. He went to work for the Iraqi Ministry of Oil in 1967. He rose to be Oil Ministry Director of Planning and Development before leaving Iraq in 1979. His brother was apparently killed by Saddam’s regime as were family of many high-ranking Baathists. But there are also claims that Auchi continued secretly working for Saddam’s intelligence services, a kind of dual reality not uncommon in the twisted world of Saddam’s upper echelons.
What is certain is that Auchi prospered mightily collecting “commissions” on sale of weapons and other goods to Iraq in the 1980s and 1990s. Living in the UK, he is now listed as Britain’s 18th-richest man. The Times of London reports, “On the 20th anniversary of his business in 1999, Mr. Auchi received a greeting card signed by 130 politicians, including (Prime Minister) Tony Blair, (Conservative Party leader) William Hague and (Liberal-Democratic Party leader) Charles Kennedy….” In spite of his British connections and an earlier 2004 US visit, Auchi was denied entry into the US in 2005. It is believed that he was attempting in 2005 to win a US visa with the help of Rezko several as-yet-unnamed Illinois political figures.
Among Auchi’s many international awards is a 2005 election as an “Honorary Member in the International College of Surgeons in Chicago, Illinois.” Obama has denied trying to help Auchi. Auchi has played a role in BNP since the late 1970s. When BNP was privatized by the French government in 1993, Auchi acquired stock in the banking giant through his Luxembourg-based company, General Mediterranean Holdings. Auchi played a key role in BNP’s 2000 merger with Paribas. According to the New York Times, “As recently as 2001, General Mediterranean Holdings described itself in an annual report as one of largest single shareholders in BNP Paribas.”
Saddam used Oil for Food fraud to channel millions of dollars to heads of state, activists, terrorists, and journalists–many of whom returned the favor by backing Saddam in 2003 when the US finally invaded. In 2003 Auchi was convicted in France for receiving about $100 million in illegal commissions as part of a scandal involving the French oil giant Elf Aquitane. The UK Guardian wrote: “(Elf was) the biggest fraud inquiry in Europe since the Second World War. Elf became a private bank for its executives who spent £200 million on political favours, mistresses, jewellery, fine art, villas and apartments.”
Auchi’s General Mediterranean Holdings also has connections to the new Iraq-connections which lead right back to Tony Rezko. Auchi’s company helped finance a 250 megawatt power plant in the Kurdish town of Chamchamal, Iraq, teaming up with Rezko and Iraq’s former Minister of Electricity, Aiham Alsamarrae. Alsamarrae, a Chicago resident with dual US-Iraqi citizenship is accused of graft involving Iraq reconstruction projects-an embarrassing connection for the war critic Obama. Returning in 2003 to post-Saddam Iraq, Alsamarrae had been made Minister of Electricity under the occupation government of Paul Bremer. Alsamarrae escaped in what he called “the Chicago way” from the Green Zone in December, 2006 after being held for four months in relation to a $2 billion Iraqi reconstruction corruption case. He is now living in his Chicago mansion.
Writing in Human Events, March 3, 2008, John Batchelor reports on an Alsammarae-Obama-Rezko connection: “…in April 2005, one month before Mr. Alsammarae left his post, his Ministry of Electricity signed a contract for $50 million with Companion Security to provide training to Iraqis to guard electrical plants by flying them to Illinois for classes. “Companion Security was headed by a former Chicago policeman with a troubled history, Daniel T. Frawley, in partnership with Mr. Rezko and in association with Daniel Mahru, the lawyer for the original contract and Mr. Rezko’s former business partner. In April 2006, Mr. Frawley entered negotiations with Governor Rod Blagojevich’s staff to lease a military facility in Illinois to be a training camp.”

Let everyone know my political ideology from day one, I don’t hide that I’m a moderate Traditional conservative. But I’m voting for Hillary, regardless. She’s out, I couldn’t disavow my conservative beliefs and vote for Obama (even my sis said Obama’s out, and she’s more liberal than I).
There’s only three choices:
A. McInsane - who wants to start WWIV with Russia (did you think he cares about the Middle East? He’s so angry about his POW days, he ignores the message that the USSR folded in 1992).
B. OBABA - A elitist pig who denouces half his heritage; his supporters called my mom a racist (nope, never will get my vote after that!!); plays every card known for even more free rides; never had to work until after Harvard; marries a Black militant as a wife who seems angry at America; has zero qualifications to be the president in the first place — and certainly NO QUALIFICATION to be anywhere near the military he seems to despise.
C. Hillary - Someone who lived in the South; knows the values of the South; religious (not a Far-Left “moonie” militant Dawkins type atheist); stayed with a wayward husband, despite common sense to leave the marriage; went to college in a day women were still expected to be housewives and mothers (while she was in college, my mom had to convince my dad that she had to work to make ends meet — not something husbands permitted in the 60s readily, as it looked as if a man couldn’t provide for the family — something you kids know nothing about but from some revisionist history book. When were locked into place back then); raised a child who didn’t turn out to be a weirdo, but a very nice young lady (that feat alone is worthy she could handle more! Admit it parents!); she’s tough and resilient, just what’s needed to lead the greatest country in the world in a turblent time.
Yeah, I’m voting for Hillary because she’s qualified, and one tough bird who can take the job and the responsibilities, just like any man.
