What happens when you’re afraid, Barack?

Barack Obama, when he was safely ensconced in elite environs, opined that “bitter” smalltown white people — supposedly afraid because of economic uncertainty — “cling” to guns, God and bigotry. But, now, we suspect that Obama himself is scared. And, watching Barack’s actions in recent days, we’re spotting clues that he, his campaign and his surrogates are indeed consumed by fear.
Barack Obama is afraid: He has cancelled the debate in North Carolina (and we have proof, to be posted soon).
Barack Obama is afraid: He has openly predicted he’ll lose tomorrow.
Barack Obama is afraid: He has gotten notably “nasty” in his attacks.
Barack Obama is afraid: He has not taken any questions for 10 days from traveling reporters, who are “struggling” to speak with him.
Barack’s campaign is afraid: He has outspent Hillary three-to-one in Pennsylvania, and shattered all records for expenditures in any political race in Pennsylvania’s history.
Barack’s campaign is afraid: He has outspent Hillary by $7,000,000 in television ads alone.
Barack Obama is afraid: His campaign has set an imaginary 11% as the percentage Hillary Clinton must win by tomorrow.
Barack Obama and surrogates are afraid: His mouthpiece Ed Schultz — that bloviating AM radio host — just told Fox News’s Neil Cavuto that Clinton must win by 15% tomorrow.
Barack Obama’s campaign is afraid: They say that Hillary’s new ad is fear-mongering.
But the worst of the “spin” coming from him as well as his campaign and surrogates is to call Hillary’s supporters a bunch of racists. It is indeed a sad day when otherwise intelligent people are now so fearful about a looming loss in Pennsylvania that they are willing to chuck their own dignity, credibility and character to make such a demeaning, indefensible charge. Even a heretofore respected “progressive” blogger has strongly inferred that Obama can’t win in parts of Pennsylvania because of “racial resistance,” a coy phrasing that is “code” to indicate that all of those white voters are driven to vote against Obama because of the color of his skin.
Here’s the skinny on the racist gambit: Barack Obama’s hardcore followers have erected the lowest form of excuses, that are in fact racist, in order to pin the blame for Obama’s impending loss on “typical white people” — especially white men:
This is an election about whether the people of Pennsylvania hate blacks more than they hate women. And when I say people, I don’t mean people, I mean white men. … [...]
[T]he outcome of the general election will depend on whether enough of them vote for McCain. A lot of them will: white men cannot be relied on, as all of us know who have spent a lifetime dating them.
– That’s written by a highly prominent Obama supporter on the pages of Huffington Post today …
Just who is that prominent Obama follower? She is Carl Bernstein’s “bitter” ex, about whom she wrote a “bitter” tell-all in Heartburn, a novel and screenplay.
Ephron is also the writer for You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, and the aptly-named upcoming film Flipped, billed as a “perfect introduction to the adolescent war between the sexes.” (And it sounds like Nora is still fighting an adolescent battle between the sexes as well as between sexism and racism.)
Hell, the title of her HuffPo article is “White Men.”
In good part, Barack Obama’s remarks to that wealthy San Francisco crowd were, in fact, racist remarks about “typical white people” in small Pennsylvanian towns who “cling” to guns and religion.
What would Nora Ephron know about those typical white men, given that she is a wealthy, elite Hollywood screenwriter who socializes in the most select, monied social circles?
And what would Barack Obama know about typical white men, given that he prefers the company of corrupt elite politicians in large-city Chicago as well as anti-American radicals like William Ayers and homophobic preachers like Jeremiah Wright and James Meeks?
Except for his occasional forays into rural Illinois to win his Senate seat in 2004, and this year’s occasional trips to rural America to woo voters, he never is around “typical white men.”
And here’s what Nora Ephron and Barack Obama don’t know: They don’t know that these “typical white men,” many of whom I know and live near and who are good, good neighbors to me, would NEVER not vote for a qualified candidate because of the color of his skin. Oh, maybe a very few would be racist enough to let that factor stop them. But the vast majority of those “typical white men” are better than that. They have more character than that. And they know REAL LIFE a hell of a lot more than Nora Ephron or Barack Obama do.
But I will tell you one thing about those “typical white men” that I know well: They count a candidate’s character and who he has associated himself with as IMPORTANT indicators of what the candidate is made of.
The Washington Post’s elite television columnist Tom Shales may not think that the questions in that ABC debate last Wednesday were important, but the “typical white men” who I know were GLAD to hear those questions. Those questions told them 1) the history of Obama’s choices in his associates and campaign benefactors, and 2) how Obama would react when confronted with a stressful question. And they saw that Obama could not handle the tough questions that relate to his character and his choices in his associations.
Now, Joe Scarborough is not so removed from the “typical white men” he has known during his days before and in his years as a Florida congressman that he doesn’t recognize the importance of questions about Obama’s longtime disturbing, close relationships with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and unrepentant terrorist William Ayers. And that was one point he was trying to make the other day on MSNBC, in a heated exchange with far-left Air America elitist Rachel Maddow (who is one of those “political analysts” who’s in the tank for Obama but won’t come out and say so, which she should):

As I wrote in a comment in another thread today, these elitist Obama followers have already set up the “narrative” for Barack Obama’s loss tomorrow, particularly if Hillary Clinton throttles him.
i can already hear the carefully-phrased commentaries that will come from the MSNBO commentators Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews. Can’t you? Perhaps Olbermann and Matthews can borrow the phrase “racial resistance” to explain away Obama’s loss and to pin the blame on smalltown white people.

Uh, no, I was the one who was voting for Obama in a caucus here in Houston that went 60-40 for Obama. It was a perfectly orderly event, over in something like an hour. One voter, a Hillary supporter in fact, said to the room, “There are no losers tonight. In November, we will be presenting a unified front in favor of the Democratic nominee.” Everyone applauded.

They act as if we the american people have no right to scrutinize. Well…After 9/11 political ideology and associations become important. Just got back from Wilmington NC- things are not going as peachy as Senator OCharma would like, even though the polls are saying one thing- the ground campaign is not making the headway they should in a State that is destined to be in his win column. Hillary could pull off an upset- and that would bring about serious pause among the fence sitting supers.

The only hard support (I’m in NC) can find for O is around college campuses (university system primarily); he is loathed in the rural areas where I hear a lot of comments about him setting back race relations 20 years, surprising coming from Native Americans and rural whites. (To be clear, NC has worked hard over the years trying to improve relations and we all thought we were getting somewhere. I was rather surprised that this was a concern. I thought it was just a concern with me.)
I’m in NC also and my son is a college student, he says Obama’s comments didn’t play well with the kids in his history class, says they don’t know what he really means when he says something anymore, he is saying different things to different groups and subsets of people, makes even the kids uneasy. I was really surprised to hear this, he said a lot of the kids who were for Obama are no longer for him. Really, really surprised me, of course my own opinion has been diluted by watching far to much of the boyz on the MSM…
College students showing up is like Face Book live and in person so many of them vote in their states of residence, that the support may not translate to votes.
Disappointment that your candidate doesn’t win when you are a college student is a right of passage. They better get used to it if they are going to be lifelong Democrats.

I didn’t even read that whole post. Because frankly when I see horseshit, I don’t need to go poking deeper into it to affirm what I already know. Just a couple of things I noticed as I quickly, very quickly, extremely quickly breezed through it.
The first is that it is nice that the Obamatrons are finally admitting that FOR THEM this primary has nothing to do with qualifications of the candidates.
The other thing I noticed is the name Nora Ephron.
Nora Ephron is a tool. She is the person who gave us that terrible movie with Meg Ryan and what’s her name and what’s her name– all of them talking to each other on cell phones for two hours. That was Nora Ephron’s idea of a movie about the relationships between (I think it was) sisters– or women in any event. I watch Nora Ephron movies like I read Nora Ephron columns. Really, fast, really,really,really fast.
Nora Ephron? pfffft.
And who is the other celebrity star endorsement the evil one has garnered? Michael Moore. Does it strike anyone as rather ironic that a guy who does a film on the healthcare crisis should be 200 lbs overweight and not lose any weight even after all the research? Surely the term obesity would have come up more than once as the leading cause of diabetes or as a huge contributor to heart disease or stroke or high blood pressure, or wear-and-tear on muscle systems. Huh, Michael Moore? Are we supposed to believe you are an expert on health care when you don’t even know to lose some of the 350 lbs you’re carrying around? And then to endorse Voldemort, the man who will ensure Americans aren’ts insured. All brain, Mr. Moore.
But Voldemort seems to attract those that love to betrayal their “communities” or responsibilities.

I had a horrible nightmare last night…I dreamt that Obambi was POTUS and he was giving a speech about meeting with the President of Iran and he was saying, “Yeah. I met with Ahmadinejad yesterday. I forgot to pray and light a candle for Hillary yesterday at 6 (PT), so we were at a play last night and when it got boring (which was often!) I stopped and said a little prayer. And I just lit a candle. Hey, what the heck, right? I’d do a voodoo dance if I thought it would help.

The minute I saw that the North Carolina debate had been cancelled, I knew they were doing it for Obama…he is truly Georgy-Porgy. Pennsylvania has many Primaries. This is not a winner take all state. Meaning the strategy is to take as many primary wins and delegate wins as possible. Remember Texas? Hillary won the Texas vote count but she LOST the primary count. Meaning Obama actually won Texas.
So by spending a lot of cash Obama is attempting to get as many delegates as possible - because the most delegates wins.
And also - look EVERYBODY knew Hillary would win Pennsylvania. But the question really is by how much. SHE NEEDS

As for PZ, it is proportional delegates based upon the votes! Any candidate who outspends the other 5 to 1 and loses, is a loser in many ways, including in a GE, for managing money is a proven lousy form when losing even by 1 delegate in a primary!
When the end of the day comes, if Obama loses PA tomorrow, even by one delegate, he has proven he cannot win any big states and in the GE, he is a proven loser with his spending so outrageous and cannot take big prizes!
And don’t think that in a GE, Obama will not have the comfort zone he presently has in battling a same party Candidate, the GOP will crush his every word and turn so fast, Obama’s present disposable Depends budget he now has will be a joke and even outstrip his spending total $250 million spending overall in the primaries!

I think it’s a losing cause - trying to explain the math to those who simply won’t accept it. Their math goes like this:
- Caucuses do not count (except for Nevada, where supposedly Hillary won the vote count)
- Only states that Hillary wins count.
- MI and FL don’t count, unless Hillary is talking, then they HAVE to count or its Obama’s fault.
(and its the only way she can get more delegates)
- Pledged delegates don’t count….only super delegates
- Hillary will win PA in a landslide, until it doesn’t look that way….just like she was going to win Super Tuesday and TX and Ohio in a landslide - only ONE of her wins even came close to a landslide. Now, no landslide needed, just one vote is necessary.
You get the drift…..you can’t win here - neither can Hillary.

I think Olbermann asked the question to redeem himself with Hillary and us Hillary supporters. I think she was forgiving him. Clever.
Also, Obama refused to be on tonight because of “scheduling conflicts.” Yeah, a scheduling conflict with being able to think on his feet without looking inept and having to answer tough questions.
By the way, I think the protests have helped! I thought originally there was not enough promotion of them but apparently Olbermann and his bosses are taking notice. And I bet his ratings have fallen since he went after Hillary in my view unfairly.

Again it is NO secret that she will win but that she needs a big win tomorrow in PA. And more importantly she needs wins in states she won’t win like North Carolina and Oregon. This would be just to get close to Obama. Right now he has 1653 delegages and she has 1513
If she wins tomorrow by 20% she will still be far behind in the delegate count. But a big win would get her closer on the popular vote.
If she wins by less than 10% then she will gain very few delegates over Obama and not even come close on the popular vote. He leads by over 700,000 votes nationally. [90,000 if you count MI and FL] [Although he had no votes in MI because he was not on the ballot].
Now, she will spin this win tomorrow for all it is worth. But the numbers don’t lie.
You drank too much of the koolaid. Obama is only up by about 140,000 votes as long as you don’t count Florida and Michigan.

They explain the numbers on the page. I don’t know where they get the numbers but I think the key figures here would not count MI because he was not on the ballot. Therefore, according to them [without MI in the mix] it is more than 140,000 on all counts.
What is it about the difference between an acutal vote and an “estimated” vote that you don’t understand? The caucuses mean nothing beyond the fact that Obama’s folks, who tend to be better educated and wealthier than the Hillary supporters, had time to go to a meeting. I know that Susan UNPC, and the nurses caring for her, could not participate in the Washington caucus because she was in the hospital. In a regular primary she could vote absentee. So let’s compare actual votes, not imaginary votes, because come November Barack does not get to count imaginary votes. Are we clear? (And how in god’s name Real Clear Politics can make something so simple and so basic so not clear?)
Ah I see, it’s the old caucuses-don’t-count argument. Whether you like them or not, there is nothing “estimated” about the votes from caucus states.
Interesting that when there’s no re-vote in two states that broke the rules and fucked themselves over in the process, it’s Obama’s fault and he’s disenfranchising voters, but there’s nothing wrong with Hillary taking a dump on the caucus states.

You think those two states will vote for Obama if he is the nominee — you lose two states in GE even before you started. How is that smart? But beyond all this practical consideration, there is such a thing called counting every vote in a democracy. Obama’s position is one of a third world country candidate — don’t count because I lose. I’m predicting a double-digit win for Hillary in PA. The polls have been consistently wrong in all the major states and I think that they’re wrong this time, too.
They predicted a loss for Hillary in NH, TX, and I believe, CA. She won all those states. So if they predict a win for her, I think that it will be bigger than the polling numbers suggest.
The Obama surrogates has made race as an issue in this primary (with the blessings of the Obama campaign?) and race bait, too ,maybe as a counterpoint to whatever future controversies and scandals that Obama might have in the future. He has made race and race baiting the central portion of his campaign. It is with a certainty that Obama surrogates(with the blessings of the Obama campaign?) will answer every controversy and scandal with statements pertaining to race.
So what could the Clinton team (and surrogates) must do in order to counteract it? The only thing that they (Clinton team and surrogates) could really do is to be careful of what they say in public so that the other party (Obama team and surrogates) would not have any ammunition for race baiting. Because that is what it is. Race baiting.
