ACTION ALERT: Urgent / Call the DNC

UPDATE: Here’s a thought via a reliable source who heard Pat Caddell say this on Fox News on Tuesday night: “The Democratic nomination contest is a process, not a suicide pact.” Can we PLEASE nominate the most viable candidate who can win the big blue states?

Original: Via Heidi Li’s Potpourri blog, a highly disturbing report on which we must act:

Yesterday, at a strategy session I attended in Washington, DC, Clinton campaign director Terry McAuliffe alerted those present that two superdelegates from Florida had filed a formal complaint with Party’s rules committee board, which is refusing to count them. Regardless of the status of the seating of the Florida delegation, it is a violation of DNC rules to refuse to seat the Florida’s superdelegates (superdelegates are not chosen by primary). Guess what Howard Dean is doing? Refusing to refer the complaint to the rules committee. Terry urged everybody in the room and everybody we know to contact the DNC and specifically ask that the RCB address the complaint filed by the two Florida delegates. The telephone number for the D.N.C. is 202-863-8000. Call and simply say that you want to make sure that the Party’s rules committee addresses the Florida superdelegates’ recently filed complaint immediately.

Phone calls are the preferred method of contact because they get the most attention, but I did post a comment with Howard Dean’s email address.

THERE IS ALSO THIS collusion between Howard Dean and the Obama campaign, via Halperin’s Time blog: Obama-DNC Fundraising Deal.” “Democratic sources tell The Page the Land of Lincolner and DNC plan to file a joint fundraising agreement soon that will allow donors to give simultaneously to his campaign and the national party. … MORE BELOW.

After a series of discussions, the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee have decided to file papers with the Federal Election Commission establishing a “joint fundraising agreement.” Under the law, such a committee can accept up to $28,500 from individuals, most of which would go to the DNC.

Presumptive Republican nominee John McCain has already formed such an alliance with the Republican National Committee. Their group — called Victory — was created in March after McCain clinched the GOP nomination and is headed by McCain adviser Carly Fiorina.

Sources say the DNC has also held talks with Hillary Clinton’s campaign about forming a separate vehicle with her, but that no deal has been struck. …

We’ve written here numerous times about how Howard Dean is actively trying to ensure that Barack Obama is the nominee. Most recently, Lanny Davis accused Howard Dean of behind-the-scenes negotiations to cancel the scheduled debate in North Carolina on April 27th. While Lanny couldn’t say everything he thought, it was very clear he feels that Chairman Dean was behind the cancellation as well as Obama’s refusal to debate Hillary Clinton anymore.
