From Mike Allen at Politico — so this is what Drudge said was the “developing” story:

Wright to Obama: ‘Coming after you’

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright said Monday that he will try to change national policy by “coming after” Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) if he is elected president. [...]

“I said to Barack Obama last year, ‘If you get elected, November the 5th I’m coming after you, because you’ll be representing a government whose policies grind under people,’ Wright said.

OT: That’s it. I blocked MSNBC. Mitchell was on with some clown telling us we have to let the Wright thing go, that Wright said those bad things not Obama. I only caught a moment of this as I surfed by. I bet he conveniently left out the part of 20 years. Then the tease for the next segment was Mitchell with that smirk on her face saying something about Bill Clinton being the gaff machine.

Fuck you Mitchell and fuck you MSNBC. Your channel is now blocked.

I guess Mitchell did not get the memo from the American people stating Obama is toast.

Comment by John | 2008-04-28 12:40:19

Ditto. This morning, Mitchell told us that Obama’s speech on race was “beautiful” (she didn’t say that she specifically enjoyed the “beautiful” shot at Geraldine Ferraro) and backed down when Axelrod challenged the very IDEA that this whole situation might be hurting Saint Barack.

Enough. I don’t know who the fuck Mitchell thinks she is, but I can decide for myself what’s important, thanks anyway you self-satisfied little toads at MSNBC.

You are BLOCKED. And you WONT be missed.

Comment by Jeff | 2008-04-28 12:45:05

“You are BLOCKED. And you WONT be missed.”

What’s the point of “blocking” them–so you don’t slip up one night and “drunk-dial” MSNBC? Don’t you have the self-control to simply avoiding tuning that channel?

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 13:00:05

Jeff, don’t you channel surf? Now when I channel surf I don’t see MSNBC at all. I take great pleasure not seeing Andrea Mitchell’s smirk even for a second. :)

BTW-her real name is Mrs. Alan Greenspan.

Who’s her daddy? ‘ole greeny loves him some McCain. You know she could not cover the Fed as long as he was there. Now that he is gone, she has not covered much of anything with any objectivity.

Jeff, don’t you have the self control to not post here? You’ve never said anything relevant or interesting.

Why don’t you go hang out with the other little boys who are busy stenciling Andre the Giant around town. Maybe help them plan a riot or two. Go hear one of your messiah’s inspirational speeches. Volunteer to assist Rev Wright on his 08 Tour.

So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, good bye.

GOOD GOD.

What we have seen all weekend IS what Barack Obama saw for TWENTY YEARS in that church.

This is nothing NEW to Barack Obama. Jeremiah Wright hasn’t said anything this weekend and today that he hasn’t said hundreds, probably thousands, of times over the 20 years that Obama sat in those pews.

The media are so clueless.

Comment by Kevin | 2008-04-28 13:42:55

Susan,

Are you seriously saying (again) that all Wright has preached in those 20 years is just what was encapsulated in the snippets that have been mindlessly and with out context run over and over again? If that’s the case, how come there aren’t more examples to cite?

That’s ridiculous…

Comment by Catriley | 2008-04-28 15:47:58

Kevin–

My pastor would only have to say any of those things ONCE, and I’d be outta there so fast the collection plate would like like frisbee as a ran by.

And sane and decent person would not sit in that church the minute Wright started in on the 9/11 victims, or perhaps the pelvic thrusts, or perhaps blaming US for AIDS, or calling us the US of KKK.

Is the love soooo blind for Obama that people have forgotten that Wright called “white people” the “enemy”. I watched the tapes…

So.. Kevin and Jeff and the trolls, et al, would obviously be fine in a church where the Pastor screamed that “black people” are the “enemy”. God.. you are such racists!

Comment by Kevin | 2008-04-28 16:03:26

“started in on the 9/11 victims, or perhaps the pelvic thrusts, or perhaps blaming US for AIDS, or calling us the US of KKK.”

Cat, why don’t you start by citing exact specific references rather than putting words and meaning into his mouth? “started in on the victims”???

And please - where in the tapes does Wright call “white people the enemy”? So, you “watched the tapes” - I presume you mean you watched those clips that were run over and over… not the entire taped sermons. So - you can point to a time signature on said YouTube “tapes” that backs up what you believe you heard and saw right?

Just curious - because what I’m getting from your comments is not so much what was actually said, but how it’s been taken and then re-echoed throughout the blogosphere.

Also, since you brought it up - is it your contention (as she stated) that Hillary would immediately disassociate herself from a pastor who said something she personally disagreed with? And think carefully… she herself had to backtrack from that statement after she made it.

Again - we have this mischaracterization that ever single sermon was nothing but “Hate Whitey”… when that’s not the case - which was my only point to Susan.

And before you deign to even try and presume what my religious, let alone personal beliefs would be - let alone how I’d react to someone saying something I vehemently disagreed with - ya might want to actually realize you can’t speak for me or for anyone else. You can only speak for yourself.

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-04-28 23:56:44

The trouble with being Kevin;

You think about yourself too much and that gives you a strange fatigue that makes you shut off the world around you and “cling” to your arguments.

A Separate Reality

The Ghost of Obma future is not to far off now Kevin, he is beckening, standing in the cold mist with a skeletal middle finger. Hark, he call you now…be ready.

Comment by Kevin | 2008-04-28 13:45:02

“hasn’t said anything this weekend and today that he hasn’t said hundreds, probably thousands, of times over the 20 years that Obama sat in those pews.”

pretty damn presumptuous on your part… or is it merely that to broach anything other than that framing would be to expose your premise as being fatally weak?

Comment by Talktruth | 2008-04-28 13:53:21

Keep in mind that what we’re hearing is the cleaned-up version! This &^%* would seriously warp your brain if you were exposed to it for any significant amount of time. And I give you Exhibit A - Barack Obama!

Susan is there is a workaround to the spam problem so people can post whatever is getting filtered?

Comment by SusanUnPC | 2008-04-28 13:04:42

No, dammit. I asked our WordPress expert about it several times. It’s a system-wide WordPress issue and they’re trying to fix it.

HOWEVER: In some cases, if one uses a very common name, it’s really hard to find and retrieve one’s legit comments. E.g., Simon was getting caught in the spam filter but when I searched for Simon, I got all of the PORN sites that use the word Simon. So Simon began posting as SIMON TOO in order to make it easier. It also seemed to cure his issue with getting caught in the spam filter, I think …. but am not entirely sure.

Comment by simon, too | 2008-04-28 13:21:24

Drats!

You’ve discovered my secret career as a porn star!

Hey, we all have to make a living…I’m kidding…

Anyway, yes, it did seem to work, perhaps the word “too” hasn’t been co-opted yet by the character recognition systems, but I expect it soon will…

Comment by Patrick Henry | 2008-04-28 13:26:14

“Fuck you Mitchell and fuck you MSNBC. Your channel is now blocked.”

That’ll show ‘em!

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 12:50:16

Yes it will. I can and will email them and my television service provider and let them know I have blocked that network and why. Never underestimate the power of one especially with the viral nature of the Internet. Someone could view this discussion and take the idea and expand upon it. Ironically you are too shortsighted to have left my comment alone and look what you did: You inspired me to write this. Thanks! :)

The hubris of you and your candidate continue to amaze me especially considering the deep trouble your campaign is in. Don’t count on your shills on MSNBC to bail you out.

Comment by Jeff | 2008-04-28 12:57:05

“Ironically you are too shortsighted to have left my comment alone and look what you did: You inspired me to write this.”

Don’t worry, I’m comfortable with the infinitesimal impact your commenting and television viewing habits have on the national discourse.

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 13:07:57

Here you go again ignoring the power of the individual. I think if my “infinitesimal impact” was of no real concern you would have stopped harping on this already. But I think you are very concerned.

So people: block the channel if you want and let MSNBC and you television service provider know and let them know why. And please do tell them Jeff said not to worry as you will only have an “infinitesimal impact” anyway.

Comment by Jeff | 2008-04-28 13:18:20

“I think if my “infinitesimal impact” was of no real concern you would have stopped harping on this already. But I think you are very concerned.”

No, I just find it hilarious that you so lack the self-discipline to simply not tune a channel you abhor, you have to “block” it.

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 13:22:59

And you ignore the two times I replied to that:

Jeff, don’t you channel surf? Now when I channel surf I don’t see MSNBC at all. I take great pleasure not seeing Andrea Mitchell’s smirk even for a second. :)

Keep laughing if it makes you happy. And I am making a statement by announcing I am blocking it. And a statement you seem quite perturbed about.

Kristol in the NY Times this morning.

We have had four one-on-one debates so far — and each has been revealing. A debate without a moderator, as Clinton has suggested, could be particularly interesting. But debates would give Clinton equal time in the spotlight, and would make Obama’s advantage in paid media in Indiana and North Carolina far less significant.

On Friday in Indiana, Obama talked tough in response to a question: “I get pretty fed up with people questioning my patriotism.” And, he continued, “I am happy to have that debate with them any place, anytime.” He’s happy to have fantasy debates with unnamed people who are allegedly challenging his patriotism. But he’s not willing to have a real debate with the real person he’s competing against for the nomination.

Comment by Jeff | 2008-04-28 12:50:30

“But he’s not willing to have a real debate with the real person he’s competing against for the nomination.”

Even though there have already 21 frigging debates thus far.

“Four.”

Twenty-one (we can do this all day!)

Tastes Great! Less Filling!

Comment by Dawnelle | 2008-04-28 12:56:55

I can understand why he doesn’t want to debate her for the 5th time.

One on ONE of course you understand.
He can’t win for losing with Hillary.
If he gets rough with a women it just wouldn’t look right and by turning it down for the 5th time he only looks like a coward.

I guess he figures that’s the lesser of the two.

Comment by Patrick Henry | 2008-04-28 12:57:45

Jeff..Do Your Homework son, there have only been four debates between senators clinton and obama..thats the point..now OBAMA IS AVOID MORE WHEN THEY MATTER MOST…THAT INDICATES HE IS AFRAID OF THE Possible issues that can be raised ..like these curent comments By pastor Wright..He isin a Damage control mode..

Comment by Jeff | 2008-04-28 13:06:24

What’s the point of another debate? So some pundit can ask if he was really giving Hillary the finger in that video, or just scratching his face? According to everyone at No Quarter, this is one of the paramount issues of the election.

If they start asking some legitimate, policy-oriented, non-gotcha questions, maybe he and his supporters would be interested.

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 13:09:25

Spin all you want, Obama was challenged to debate one on one and has shown us his cowardice.

Comment by Jeff | 2008-04-28 13:16:04

“Spin all you want, Obama was challenged to debate one on one and has shown us his cowardice.”

Right, even though he’s participated in 21 debates thus far, including the “four” that meet your approval.

More spin same non-result for you Jeff.

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 12:57:56

That’s the best you can do? You don’t matter. Most people want to see more debates one on one and I think the Republicans will use Obama’s cowardice on the one on one debating issue against him.

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 12:55:37

You really do need to get a new script. When I mention the debate issue I always say “…the 4 debates they have had one on one…” to preempt the 21 retort. Do we really have to say this evey time? This 21 thing, yawn.

Comment by Jeff | 2008-04-28 13:03:44

” Do we really have to say this evey time? This 21 thing, yawn”

I know the truth is boring to you.

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 13:12:25

YES there have been 21 debates. The point we are making is there have only been 4 one on one debates. We know the 21 number is the truth. And the more pertinent truth is Obama is a coward and won’t stand on the same stage as Hillary. Keep harping on the 21 thing as it shows the inherent weakness in your argument.

Comment by Jeff | 2008-04-28 13:27:06

“The point we are making is there have only been 4 one on one debates. We know the 21 number is the truth. And the more pertinent truth is Obama is a coward and won’t stand on the same stage as Hillary.”

You just did an end run around your own argument. You agree that Obama has stood on the stage with Hillary one-on-one 4 times (not to mention 17 others). Then you say he “won’t stand on the same stage as Hillary”. Sorry, buddy.

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 13:30:56

Sorry, I typed that in a hurry, should be:

Obama is a coward and is no longer willing to stand on the stage with Hillary.

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 13:32:31

Oh thanks for pointing out my error.

Comment by Talktruth | 2008-04-28 14:16:06

Why do you make ridiculous arguments? You know what he means, and you’re wasting our time. Perhaps that is your goal. You don’t really seem to have much of an emotional stake either way.

Here’s one for you (thanks to PMS for the reference to this article, above):

Will it be left to conservatives like the estimable blogger “Allahpundit” (at hotair.com) to (sarcastically) state the obvious? “What’s the most efficient way to communicate with voters? Surely not at a massively promoted, televised, highly watched debate. Much better to hold a few town halls and meet and greets.”

Since Obama ansd His background have raised so many Red Flags, its best to VETT him Now..

There too many ties to Radicals, Corruption and Extremists to ignore..when you have to consider he will Control the Government like Bush has..

That was “REVULSION..”

I am Now Concerned about “REVOLUTION”

Comment by Jeff | 2008-04-28 13:30:35

“I am Now Concerned about “REVOLUTION””

After 8 years of Bush, we need a revolution in this country. Before I am taken wildly out of context, I am not speaking of a violent revolution. I am speaking of a non-violent sociopolitical revolution. Who’s going to lead it? Hillary? McCain? I don’t think so.

We need revolutionary change, not a McCain continuation, and not incremental holding actions ala the Clinton years.

Comment by workingclass artist | 2008-04-28 13:34:38

This country needs change that is tempered by stability…..
Revolution is not always a good thing….Ask the Romanovs….

Jeff, if you really think Barack Obama is going to lead ANY kind of revolution, “sociopolitical” or otherwise, or for that matter that he’s capable of any kind of leadership whatsoever, then you’re even more naive and/or dumber than I thought possible, even for an Oborg.

Arroint thee, troll.

His response was, “If flying a plane is exciting, it usually means that some shit is about to hit the fan. I want it boring. At least until I land the sucker.”

Jeff; You ever listen to the “Soft Parade”?

non-violent socio political revolution.

Is that what is being televised now? I thought the real deal would not be…

But Obama claims that the voters of Florida “did not know him well”. Even though 17 of those debates were prior to the FL primary.

So which is it? There is nothing left to be learned about the candidates after 21 debates, or 17 debates is not nearly enough for the voters to know the candidates at all?

10 million people tuned in to the last debate. I guess 10 million people felt there were still things to be learned. Who are you to decide that they know enough?

I suspect that This is all a Game being Played by Obama, His Sponsors, and pastor Wright, and His Hate and Anger Message expressed in The “Black LIBERATION Techology”..that is basically Racist Hatred toward the ” White” People..He considers to be Oppressors and Terrorists..

Obama knows what Wright believes in His Rants against the United states Government and White People…Obama Understands The Black Liberation Movement and the NOI Thinking and who they Intend to Empower by Inflaming thier audiences..As we Saw of Jeremiah Wright, he is a Master at Manipulating Peoples Emotions, we Saw it in His Church, We Saw it At the NAACP Dinner how He played on emotions, We saw it at the Press Conference today..and He is Sneaky and a Liar ..with the Way He always turns things around..

This is not an “Attack on the Black Church”,.it is Really an Attack and Accusation Against White America, White Europeans, and The Government of the United States..Pastor Wright has made His Feelings very well know..Then Lies about it..
saying it was a “Sermon”…and that He really didn’t say what he Said and that wasn’t what he meant, its all Media Manipulation through “Sound Bites..”..

Reminds Me when Satan asked EVE in the Garden of Eden…”Did God really say that..??”

Rember, Obama is Not Strongly and Emotionally distancing Himself from Jeremiah Wright, His Church or Doctrine…Reverend Wright is accused all day of Damaging Obama…but then there are still hints of Love and fondness for Obama in all of Pastor Wright references to Obama..

Let us not Forget, The Theme of The NAACP Dinner that Jeremiah Wright Spoke at..and got Rousing applause was ..”CHANGE IS COMING..”

How about That..??

Pasor Wright kept yelling in His Closing Lines…”CHANGE IS COMING…CHANGE IS COMING..’

What is Obamas Big Theme, Posters and All..??

“CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN”

CHANGE….CHANGE…CHANGE..

There is a Pattern of Unity among all of them and Thier Message and Posturing is Radical and Revolutionary..Thats thier Big Inside Joke about “Bamboozling…”

So, What can “President” Obama do to “Change Things”..enough to Satisfy Pastor Wrights desire to Pay Back the Oppressive United states government.. … .Once Obama has Control of the Executive branch of Our Government..What Power would Obama really Have to “Change” things..like Pastor Wright Predicts…What possible Scenarios about that can Be Developed…What damage Could a “President Obama” do…even without the support of Congress…

Pastor Wright seems to really have alot of support from his NAACP and Press Club audiences so far..and its reaching every corner of America and Africa and all over the World…it sounds like Pastor Wright is sending Out “Code” Words and messages..to various Groups..

One has to wonder not only about the timing of 9/11..the Posturing of Iran, the Conflicts in Africa and S. America..but the Timing of the Obama Campaign, backed by the Likes of William Ayers and a Black Liberation Theology..that despises Anglos, a blaming European and American Governments and White People for being “Oppressors”..who Grind people under thier Boots..

Thats Pure Propoganda..Rradical aand Revolutionary..
and Its Raises all Kinds of RED FLAGS..

BeWare of RED FLAGS…

The kind of changes that Wright and his disciple Obama would bring to this country are the reason why I have said that NcCain may be the less bad of two bad choices. Don’t bother telling us that Obama has separated from Wright. As Wright himself has said, Obama said what was necessary as a politician.

Comment by jwrjr | 2008-04-28 14:25:33

Sorry - McCain, not NcCain.

“I said to Barack Obama last year, ‘If you get elected, November the 5th I’m coming after you, because you’ll be representing a government whose policies grind under people,’ Wright said.

oh, joy! this should send all those republicans and even independents RUNNING to Obama.

Didn’t wright say during Bill Moyers interview that he and Obama never discussed politics? Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Now he is saying that he told Obama last year if he is elected he is coming after him on american policy, huh? Wright also was on one of obama’s presidential candidate committees and wright consulted Obama before he made his announcement to run. What is going on here where are/is the reporting on this issue?

Wright has drawn the connection that will sink Obama either in the primary or general which is How much influence will wright have over obama’s policies and by extension all the other radicial characters influence as well?

Obama is in deep do do on this one.

ot….Speaking of NC…..the PPP poll which seems to poll unusually high for Obama has a new one out today….12 points up for Obama in NC which bodes well for Clinton. This to me means she is very close to taking NC.

If She can take both states..big is to small a word.

Wright is so into his own view of America that he doesn’t know he is hurting Obama. Check out the wild shouts of approval in Detroit last night, Wright is on a roll. He is, after all, “answerable only to God,”

Hillary Clinton a favorite among Louisiana donors
Pollsters say N.Y. senator’s regional ties helped bolster campaign fund
Ana Radelat-Gannett News Service

Barack Obama swept the Louisiana Democratic primary, Republican John McCain may be a state favorite in November’s general election, but Hillary Rodham Clinton has raised more money than either of them.

Clinton, a New York Democratic senator, raised nearly $750,000 in Louisiana as of March 31, according to an analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Poll: Clinton leads McCain

WASHINGTON - Hillary Rodham Clinton has a better chance than Barack Obama of beating Republican John McCain, according to a new Associated Press-Ipsos poll that bolsters her argument that she is more electable in the fall than her rival for the Democratic nomination

Not a big FOX fan, of course, but I’m so glad Sean Hannity will not shut up about this. Every night, night after night, he keeps saying, to every guest that tries this same crap of “Well, it’s Wright saying it, not Obama,” Sean replies, “HE WAS THERE FOR 20 YEARS!!!” He really gets his panties in a wad. And he’s right!

There are some others, of course, that point out this obvious fact, but Sean, bless his whacked-out Republican heart, just shakes this like a bulldog and won’t let go for &%^$!

Reverend Wright said if Obama wins the nomination, then the election, he would come after him because “He would be representing a government whose policies grind people under”? What is that all about? Is it a ploy to disassociate himself with Obama, for the benefit of Obama? Please add him to my exile list, along with Ayers and Dohrn.

Comment by Nancy Sabet | 2008-04-28 13:36:32

Wright’s controversy will hunt Obama till he drop from the race. Why not drop right now and give a chance to Dems to unify. Hillary has earned her nomination, and will fight to win the white House, she is more electable. Obama thought media will do it for him, now they want him to close the deal and He can not!!

Wow Larry, your inner Republican is coming out here, that and a lack of understanding of what preachers are like.

Of course Wright will come after Obama, that is understood. Wright is not a kool aide drinker, he is a reverend minister, and if, as President, Obama does not do right as Wright understands right, that Wright will come after Obama, that is a given. Sheesh. Ministers are like that, especially UCC ministers.

None of this has anything to do with what you think of Obama.

Comment by simon, too | 2008-04-28 14:50:17

Well, your support of Obama says a lot about you, and your values.

In the same way, Obama’s almost fatherly relationship with Wright is indicative of Obama’s values.

Taken within the context of his larger social acquaintances, it raises some disturbing questions, and conclusions.

And this doesn’t even include the corruption angle, ie what about Rezko, Ayers, Farrakhan, Qaddafi and Hamas?.

I mean, what if there is even more?

Americans don’t want as President a man who seems to agree with Wright’s POV, a man who sees them as embittered, and stupid, a man who doesn’t renounce his spiritual “father’s” entreaty that “God Damn America.”

And that corruption thing isn’t too hot, either.

Comment by Reverend Wrong | 2008-04-28 14:39:26

Why not, he copies or mimics her ideas frequently then calls them his own. Like at the debates, he will agree with some policy idea Hillary thought of then say “I agree” and add some bullshit to make it sound like he actually thought of something original. His speeches are also unoriginal. I wish he would not be such a coward and debate Hillary again as he is entertaining to watch in a sad way. Refusing to debate and the pitiful excuses why he won’t does not change the fact he is showing his profound cowardice and people do indeed notice. Obama’s bloggers would be better off lobbying him to debate than giving excuses why he refuses to,

Comment by sumuchtusay | 2008-04-29 02:32:10

Here’s another reference to physically hurting Hillary. I believe that it rivals the KO comment about beating her up. This one is from CNN’s Jack Cafferty today. He stuttered after saying it, maybe because he was excited. I don’t know.

CNN’s Jack Cafferty on April 28:
“She says that she will debate him any place at any time, adding that it could even be done on the back of a flat-bed truck. He would probably prefer to run over her with a flat-bed truck at this point.” (emphasis mine)

Please! Someone help me with this…Would this comment be appropriate, acceptable, tolerated, describing any other candidate? Would a media spokesperson use this violent imagery to describe any other rivalry? Or even, switch the image, to imply anyone other than Hillary getting physically hurt? This terrifies me!!!
