Obama Snubs Black Media
By Uppity Woman on May 1, 2008 at 2:47 PM in African-American Media, Barack Obama, Media
I recall reading a piece about how Barack Obama skipped whistle stops to African American communities on several occasions. The rationale here was why spend valuable time in places where you already have the vote? The answer of course is “Gratitude” but I don’t think Barky Obama has that emotion.
Now we find that Barack Obama also ignores the black media media when it comes to his middle eastern financial war chest.
While the African American media complains that all three of the current Presidential candidates spend less money on and time with them, you can practically feel their hurt when it comes to Barack Obama.
Owners and operators of African-American media outlets throughout the country have just about had it with the Barack Obama campaign.
Yes, they acknowledge the Illinois senator to be the darling of the race - the exalted Great Black Hope, the charismatic champion of change who is making history for the ages as he mounts a formidable bid to become the nation’s first black president.
But they chafe at his campaign officials’ insensitivity to, and total disregard of, the folks who brought him this far and whom he needs to take him through the White House door: Black people.
“Obama’s people believe we black publishers should be promoting Obama’s candidacy for free.”
I can honestly understand and relate to the African American community’s frustration with the Democratic Party too. However, it would only be fair to remind them that they are not the only voting block that is sick and tired of being taken for granted by the Party. Florida and Michigan Democrats are not too pleased either right now. Plenty of women have been taken for granted by the Party for too many years as well–and plan to let them find that out the hard way. Latinos, disillusioned with our party, have regularly voted Republican. However, use of a candidate’s financial war chest is not a Party issue: it’s a Candidate issue. After all, without votes of the African American community and their belief in his Hope-Hype, Barack Obama would have been bounced from this race long ago.
While the black media community claims in their complaint that Hillary Clinton doesn’t give a damn about them, the truth is that the preponderance of the African American community knows that both Clintons always gave a damn about them, whether the African American community has amnesia about it or not. I know that Donna Brazile suffers from that very amnesia in a huge way. But how could Hillary not know that no matter what she and Bill Clinton have done in the past — and no matter what she does now, Obama has that community vote sewed up because he is black.
Prior to the playing of the always well-timed Race Card by the Obama camp, a tactic that has been conveniently sprinkled throughout his campaign by his surrogates when needed, the black community saw the Clintons as their beloved. To deny this is foolery. They didn’t call Bill Clinton “The First Black President” for nothing and all African Americans know this as well. When Hopey Obama entered the Presidential race, the torn feelings between the beloved Clintons and the potential for the first African American president was well documented–and understandable.
Hillary’s work for the poor as well as health care for their children was never a secret to the African American community until Obama used what he had already admitted in publication as a most helpful tool: Using Race works. And so, the rest is history for the majority of the black vote in this campaign. So it might be more than a little understandable as to why Hillary would give up that ghost, don’t you think? Besides this, does anyone really think John McCain expects to attract the African American community using media ads in Black publications? Really?
That leaves Barack Obama and the Gratitude Gene he seems not to possess.
Lenora Carter, publisher of the Forward Times in Houston, is absolutely livid about what she characterizes as Obama’s “total disrespect for the black press,” and she takes it personally. “I have bills to pay!” Carter exclaimed.
During the run-up to the Texas primary, Obama’s campaign ran full-page ads in Houston’s white-owned daily newspapers. “I raised hell about it and went through all the channels that resulted in the Fuse agency reluctantly buying two-1/2
page ads with us, but at a reduced price!” Carter said.
“I was really mad when I learned my ad salesman cut our price to get that little action from Obama. We have bills to pay, just like white people,” Carter continued.
“You could see the money he was spending on TV ads. Every time you flipped the channel, there was Obama. They think that we as black people are so anxious to get a black president that we’ll support him no matter what. So why waste money on us?” Carter said.
“It’s been very difficult to get into the same room with the man.”
All of this reminds me of other African Americans who turned their backs on their own community the minute they got their own good fortune after enjoying their support. Clarence Thomas had a good deal of “hopeful” African American support in his bid for an appointment to the Supreme Court, and the minute he got his nomination, he kicked the ladder right out from under him. He has shown no interest whatsoever in the African American community. Then there’s Condi Rice. Need I say more?
I truly believe that, in Barack Obama, the African American community is looking at another Clarence Thomas. The media outlets appear see the handwriting on that wall already.
“The Obama campaign is predominately white and they don’t get it.”
But Obama, on the other hand, is the full-body target of the publishers’ unrelenting wrath. “I believe they have blacks in the Obama campaign who have no power,” said Leavell.
His campaign officials do not have a clue as to the need to develop a relationship with the black media.
They just don’t get it.”
You would think that the Rezko situation with the slums of Chicago would be another huge hint of just how much Barack Obama cares about the poor in general and African Americans in particular. Barack Obama’s senatorial district was simply riddled with rat-infested, decaying “renovated” buildings under the leadership of Obama’s friend who secured $100 million in government grant money and tax credits to “help” the poor. He helped them all right. He helped them live in slums with no heat. And he did it all right under Obama’s nose.
Obama’s friend Tony Rezko proved far more important to Barack Obama than the very community that has supported his faux promise of “Hope”. Hope is, after all, an emotion, and Obama has played it well upon the very people who Hope the most.
As the old saying goes: Be careful what you ask for. You might get it.

That was great, Uppity, thanks! I wondered when someone would notice what my husband and I have been talking about since the beginning…that Obabylamb isn’t interested in anything or anyone but himself. And that the African American community is blinding itself if they think he will be there for them–he is using them in this election just as he used them in Chicago. I would have had more respect for him if he had just admitted that the only reason he joined the Unity Church was to impress the African American community and get their votes. He might be book smart, he might have edited the Harvard Law Review, but he has no common sense, decency or gratitude whatsoever.
Reminds you of that cartoon skit by SNL, starring Obama, Sharpton, and Jackson. They were as usual right on the money.
Obama obviously has nothing to gain by advertising on any Black media as he already as roughly 90% of their vote. Similarly, although it may look bad, the Democratic party has minimal need to do so either because Blacks are not very likely to vote Republican in any significant number. Further, Obama won’t want to pander to Blacks as this may alienate other voters that he needs.
Matthew
Put another way: blacks are a minority and Barry’s really not much for minorities. He’s more for unity. And hope. And change. Change we can believe in.
That’s true. When you raise two hundred million, you have nothing to gain but the thought that you might let them know I Appreciate Your Help, Suckers!
that’s just not accurate. obama may have a desire to run again. so he shows distain for aa’s which is his strongest voting block. that doesn’t compute. they’ll get over the hero worship sooner rather than later it seems. so who will he rely on down the road, the black churches? the aa vote, etc. i don’t think so. now the black media is under the bus with granny and rev wright it seems.i guess beware of obama’s bus.
I wonder what the DailyΣκατα have to say about this. LMAO
Breaking: Clinton to hold town hall on ABC’s ‘This Week’
——————————————————————————–
Quote:
Hillary Clinton will hold a live town hall meeting Sunday on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” according to a source.
Just two days before the primaries, Clinton’s town hall will be broadcast live from Indiana, and include viewer questions from North Carolina.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/michae…This_Week.html
Can’t wait to watch it.
Even in terms of coalition building, post presidency, it would have seemed astute to build bridges, rather than burn them.
Is this part of the chicago way, too, amateur stupidity?
Or is that more a Hamas thing?
That is BRILLIANT…..That will play well before the primaries….I can’t wait to watch it too……BABY-O has got to be biting his pillow over that….
It is about time she gets some equal time for all of this free media attention he gets every time Reverand Wright steps in front of the campaign bus. He and the Mrs. were on teevee last evening and this morning. He’s bad enough, but woof woof, she is one mean piece of work!
Hey Bee did you hear on NPR about Obama supporters illegally using ROBO calls aimed at AA women to SUPPRESS THE VOTE in North Carolina ? NPR All things Considered…..State AG is investigating. Group has done this before in other states.
Obama will get equal time since he chose to go on Meet the Press that same morning for an hour
She’s really good at things like this. If this is on ABC that’s a step up from Hallmark. Why are we getting the impression Hill’s the MSM’s new darling?
dailykos crazies going nuts over abc news hillary ‘townhall’ calling andhollering, I’m going to email ABC and show support for it. Its not biased! Obama is on MTP for full hour alone as well, such whiners

Good post Uppity. Obama has been playing old time ethnic politics which is good for local elections but doesn’t play nationally. When you are receiving up to 95% support within one group of the democratic party and you can’t pull 50% overall there is something wrong with your strategy. He was hoping the early primaries would put him over the top before his strategy was discovered by the voters but he misjudged Hillary’s tenacity.
Maybe he misjudged Hillary’s intellect, too.
Maybe the Clinton’s win because they’re smarter.
Could that be possible?
No, Simon, they can’t possibly be smarter than an editor of the Harvard Law Review for God’s sake!
People keep bringing that up to me like that’s supposed to be a good reason to vote for him. Reminds me of the last boyfriend (jerk) I had before I met my husband…every other sentence was, “Did I mention I graduated from Harvard?” “No you didn’t. Not in the last 10 seconds anyway.”
But they really think that way!
That can’t achieve anything, this is just US politics, what happens when they go world wide, say, oh, wait, Iraq happens…
Of course, I know, I meant it sarcastically, my mother-in-law brings it up to me every five minutes as the reason I should vote for Barack Obama. Because Hillary and Bill are, according to her, “evil, manipulative, lying, etc.” (The “etc.” is also part of her defense. Like I’m supposed to fill in the blanks! LOL!)
A list of people who didn’t graduate from college:
Bill Gates
George Washington
Harry S. Truman
Walt Disney
Abraham Lincoln
Thomas Edison
Doris Lessing (Nobel Winner in Literature)
Steve jobs
Michael Dell
‘Harvard Law Proffessor”…. Hey folks… hey folks. Ever hear of Affimative Action… ???!
‘Harvard Law Professor”…. Hey folks… hey folks. Ever hear of Affirmative Action… ???!
When you are receiving up to 95% support within one group of the democratic party and you can’t pull 50% overall there is something wrong with your strategy.
Bingo.
He was hoping the early primaries would put him over the top before his strategy was discovered by the voters but he misjudged Hillary’s tenacity.
Bingo again.
actually, it was clinton who expected this to be over by now (on Super Tuesday, as a matter of fact). she didn’t have a campaign plan beyond early february, and she spent all her money assuming she wouldn’t need more beyond that point.
obama, on the other hand, had a strategy for every primary and caucus, with an organization in place in each state.
yeah right! he planned so well. he handled the wright thing years ago so it wouldn’t bite him on the butx. ok! he didn’t make any stupid statements about the bitter middle class. and michelle doesn’t hate america. yeah, we got it.
It’s quite unfortunate Deke, that all of this crap in obama’s life was buried till now, thanks to the MSM who are seasoning him for McCain’s roast. Had it come out in the beginning he would have been out of this race. I do think they will pull out the stops and endorse him and then the Democrats will once again be out in the cold after November. I will help make that happen. If they can toss me into the cold, I can reciprocate. I know the man will never be president. And once again, left of left of left radical whackjobs pulled another sleepy McGovern decade for the party. Serves them right.
Obama’s only real tie to the black community was Trinity UCC and he just threw them under the bus.
the joke is that in honor of his church he threw him under the front of the bus.
All I can say to their whining about it is WAKE UP.
The State of the Black Union conferences in 2007 and 2008:
Barack Obama refused to attend the conferences for the past two years–the first time, in 2007, when SOBU was held in Virginia, Obama said he was “too busy” because he was announcing his Presidential run (you know, the same announcement where he kept Jeremiah Wright hidden from view in the basement).
This year, when it was held in New Orleans, Obama was too busy campaigning in Texas.
The State of the Black Union caucuses are attended by THOUSANDS of black voters, activists, journalists, and leaders in the Black Community as a whole.
THIS year, when it was held in New Orleans, Hillary Clinton attended–she wasn’t TOO BUSY campaigning to prepare a speech and go to New Orleans to give it to SOBU.
SOBU should have been their first clue about Barack.
Obama and Axelrove think that the only characteristic he needs to lock in that vote is the color of his skin. This is why he’s sinking… their approach is racist, yet they accuse Clinton of being racist.
That is so wrong. It goes against everything the Civil Rights Movement was about. I thought it was about being colorblind, apparently Obama’s campaign doesn’t agree with that. Obama has been gifted with a staggering percentage of the AA vote, and they believed it was a given. I would find it insulting if I were an AA, that Obama believes all he has to do is show and be black to get my vote.
He underestimates the AA voters, and apparently thinks that they are incapable of thinking deeply about the candidate’s qualifications. His biggest problem now is that the people that gave him the benefit of the doubt are now seeing the true Obama, and his race becomes less and less important. It may have got him in the door, but unless he can offer something of value to their own lives, he’ll be shown right back out that door. Talk is cheap.
It seems to me that Barack cares very little for black people. On Martin Luther King Jr Day, Hillary and John McCain went to Memphis to honor that great man. Where was Obama? Too busy campaigning with white people. I would think long and hard before I voted for him just because of his color.
Ehemmmm…….BABY-O is working out his serious confict with his INNER CRAKER publicly…..This snubbing could be a symptom…..

Barack Obama is a user. He used his grandmother when his mother left him, and then publicly insulted her as a “typical white” person. He used Trinity Church and Jeremiah Wright and then denounced the reverend when poll numbers started dropping. He used the district in Chicago by touting his helpfulness in getting them housing, but leaving those people without heat in a slumlord’s building. And he is certainly using the black voters of this country by assuming they will all vote for him just because of color.
What has Obama ever done for others that has not been of direct benefit to himself?

VERY FUNNY
Arrogance and inexperience is a bad combo. I see it trip up my 20 year old son all the time and it sure trips up Barack.
I kept seeing similarities in him that remind me of Bush too. The smirking was a biggie. The hiding, ducking debate. He tries to sell this po’boy growin’ up in the ghetto story which is a total crock. He seems like a spoiled child who is quite accustomed to getting whatever he wants and never grew up. I think the lag in reaction to Wright was so he could go ask his wife/mommy Michelle what to do first.
Maybe I’m just too white and I don’t have a clue but I have friends of all colors and they all think with their minds not their skin. I doubt NC will go his way like he thinks. Maybe before all the Wright stuff they thought well of him, but now they see him throw his “uncle” under the bus, not so much.It seems demeaning to me that he takes the black vote for granted as if they can’t think independently. Maybe he believes in Wright’s different brain theories.
Michelle seems like a sorority witch to me, like she looks down on everyone, not just white people. I bet she looks down on plenty of black people too. Her wanting to move on cracks me up. I bet she does want to move along!” ha ha Karma is such a bitch.
Even NC sees Clinton as the most qualified.
People see her, the ones who take against her anyway, (and IMO, they KNOW she’s the best candidate, too), anyway, I think they see her either as projection of all the smart women who made them feel inferior, or, they think she really is what Chris Matthews says, which, (to him), would be a projection of all the smart girls who made him feel inferior.
When she is herself, which she has thankfully become, during this campaign, she cuts through most of the crap, you can never please all of the people all of the time, but those who take against her, do so because of what THEY project on to her, not because of who she really is…
IMO.
Hands down, they know she’s the best for the job, and I think, anyway, they trust her.
They may not say it, and in the spirit of Rove, they may try to use the trust issue against her, feeding it in the press, through guys like Matthews, but they KNOW she can do the job, and do it well.
But again, the republicans, and even Obama, will still try to make this a weakness.
They are so predictable, and SO boring.
Poor Hillary, all that intellect, and she has to fight…Amway marketing technique.

Excellent post Uppity, as usual.

Ciao,
G-N-G
Media is one thing. Regular people are another. AAs in NC (and I imagine everywhere) don’t care if he ignores them. They “understand.”
Obama walks fine line in quest for white votes (Boston.com)
Excellent post. Let’s face it, the Democratic party has failed all of it’s core constituencies. African Americans lag behind in jobs, healthcare, and are sufferring the most from the mortgage crisis. Women are being paid $.77 on the dollar, we’re witnessing the shameless abuse by the media and the party of the only viable female candidate for President of the United States. The poor are disproportionately affected by the Iraq War and the failed economy.
If Hillary Clinton is not the nominee, I’m seriously thinking of joining the Republican Party. At least my vote in the primary would count, and if enough liberals and moderates joined the Republicans, maybe we could effect some change. I have no voice in the Democratic party.
You make in interesting point. If there is one thing that is VERY transparent about the Democratic party now, it’s that the ones in charge don’t care who you vote for if it’s not who they want. I think I am beginning to understand now why their primary system and allocation of “credits” is so odd. They have several different “outs” in it, up to and, as we have see, inluding either disenfranchising or ignoring entire states. Their lack of respect for North Carolina, Indiana and all subsquent states is obvious right now. They want this wrapped up for one reason only: It has already been shown that Time is not Barky Obama’s friend.
I have learned a great deal about the Democratic party during this primary. None of it is good. Not only can the superdelegates vote for whomever they choose, the pledged delegates can as well. Our votes in the primaries and caucuses mean nothing. The party bosses decided years ago that, Hillary Clinton could never be president, and they began fixing the rules to make sure.
If Clinton manages to win the nomination, it will be by shear will of the voters. All of the rules along with the media have been stacked against her. If the voters make her the nominee, it will be the ultimate triumph of good over evil. I’m not saying Barack Obama is evil. He is not. The evil here is the party and the party bosses. The evil here is the media. I don’t know if she can do it, but I’ll do everything I can to help her.
Hopefully she and Bill have a few loyal friends in the system.
I can’t even figure out who gets to be a superdelegate. Most appear to be Democratic elected officials, but some seem to just be party hacks. And why does it take fewer votes in Idaho to elect a delegate than in California? And if the purpose of the superdelegates is to see that someone who has no chance of winning doesn’t get the nomination, why is the DNC trying to stampede superdelegates into selecting the unelectable Obama? And why does Howard Dean want to go down in history as the person who presided over the demise of the Democratic Party?
Every time I try to make sense of this, I feel like my head is going to explode.

Did anybody tell them that Hillary played Barky’s old phony planned superdelegate announcement game today and snatched 4?
LOL, Barky…
Go Hill!
Well he’s booked on HIS channel that day. So it’s a wash. I know who I will be watching.
I’ve heard a comment or two that Hillary is taking the black votes for granted, as well. I don’t believe that’s the case.
Here is Hillary’s conundrum. She has always had a favorable image within the black community. This was never in question, until Axelrod and Jesse Jackson, Jr., and others manipulated people into denouncing her in order to support Obama. It was never about getting voters to simply choose OBama over Clinton, it was about destroying Clinton so that OBama could have that vote all locked up. I have zero doubt that Axelrod and friends have stated in meetings that by villifying Hillary, they don’t need to do another thing, nor waste another dollar courting the black vote for Obama. Hillary’s conundrum is in the face of these manipulations, any time she tries to reach out to black voters it’s labelled as pandering to the vote or trying to do damage control.
Had Obama’s advistors and surrogates not created that race-baiting atmposphere, Hillary’ overtures would be viewed positively. She absolutely cares about all voters. Does anyone believe that Dr. Maya Angelou could not see through someone if they were pandering to court a racial group? Of course not.
Obama has entered the territory of taking black voters for granted, and it’s starting to show. This is the problem with a created candidate. He is created by people who don’t give a rat’s ass about black voters. They just want to win. For Axelrove, it’s another product, another brand, it’s not about helping people and lifting them up. It’s about manipulating them to vote for his candidate. That’s what his business is. A terrible thing happens when you get cocky and sloppy — you lose. Big time.
The Obama people are always blaming Hillary for something they are doing now or about to do. (Hitler tactics, anyone?) Obama has snubbed the Black State of the Union TWICE. This year, he offered to send Michele, which Tavis declined, but guess who was the only candidate who showed? Yes, Hillary. He has been dissing the Black Media and is now dissing the very Church that helped him on the road to becoming the first viable Black Presidential candidate. The problem with most of his Black supporters, like the ones who cheered for Rev. Wright at the NAACP and the Press Club, is that they will overlook EVERYTHING. As I’ve said before, even if he murdered someone and left behind his hat, gloves and fingerprints (see O.J. 1994), they will push it aside as rumor/lies/something Hillary is concocting to keep the Black man down. My Black friends all loudly protested O.J.’s innocence at the time. I recently checked back in with them to see if time (and the civil trial) had done anything to change their minds. Now they think one of two things: 1. O.J. did it, but he had help, or 2. he did it, but got off like any rich WHITE man would have done, so that’s okay.
I have always loved Dr. Maya Angelou. And now I also love women like Stephanie Tubbs Jones who are willing to take the heat for endorsing Hillary. I’ve noticed that the people who endorse Hillary don’t just announce it and walk away (see Oprah, Maria Shriver, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy). They are out there campaigning right alongside Hillary, working their asses off for her (see Mary Steenburgen, Ted Danson, America Ferrera). I don’t see the same dedication from the Obama camp. Hmm, I’m confused, which one is the inspirational candidate? Who is the more likeable and motivates people to work hard for her?
A small correction, re: Tavis Smiley. He released a statement to set the record straight about the State of the Black Union Conference. He only invited the candidates. And that if either campaign had offered to send their spouses instead, he would have declined. (He also invited John McCain, btw). The Obama Campaign did not offer to send Michelle. They simply declined and Smiley responded voicing his disappointment. For that he was raked over the coals, threatened and insulted with racialist epithtets from his own people.
His statement may be available on his website.
Take a good look at the violence that is rocking the inner city of Chicago at this very moment. Children are being killed by gunfire going to and leaving school. Where is the Trinity Church? Where is Senator Obama? He is the Congressman of Illinois. Have you heard him make a statement about it or have you heard him asked a question about it? As far as the Superdelegates, they haven’t voted yet. They are free to change their minds as ALL delegates will be able to do at the Convention after the first ballot. We know that these Supers are trying to stop this contest because Obama is imploding.
Exactly. It’s all BS.

Top story on Google news from the AP wire:
A NC voter sizes up Obama, Clinton, and finally decides
By ANN SANNER – 1 hour ago
As a clinical research consultant working in North Carolina’s Research Triangle, Meribeth Howlett knows how to get to the bottom of things.
Her latest project was deciding whether to vote for Barack Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic primary Tuesday. Now she’s made her choice and voted by absentee ballot.
The Associated Press has been keeping up with Howlett, 43, since late last year as part of an AP-Yahoo series of polls going back to the same group of people to see how their thinking about the campaign evolves.
For those living in Indiana and North Carolina, both holding their primaries Tuesday, it’s decision time.
In the last few days, Howlett decided “I’ve heard enough from the pundits” and began reviewing campaign literature with the practiced eye of one who reads medical charts and oversees clinical trials.
How voters make their choices can be a mystery, even to themselves. AP asked some of the poll respondents from Indiana and North Carolina to describe how they are making their decision.
Howlett’s account:
“OK — I made a decision, but I should say up front that I’d be happy to vote for either Hillary or Barack. However, I voted for Hillary Clinton. Yes, I’ve been on Web sites and found the two to have plans that are remarkably similar and so it came down to a more philosophical decision, who do I BELIEVE will do a better job. Because Barack Obama identifies himself as the best candidate to be an agent of ‘real change in Washington,’ I was expecting to see some details outlining innovative plans to achieve change, but I did not see anything that stood out as greatly different from what Hillary proposes.
“Hillary has deep roots in D.C. and that has pros-cons. I am viewing it as a positive in that I believe she understands how to navigate the system to make changes (as well as knowing what won’t work). Another plus for me is that she has spent more time than any of the candidates researching the health care issue and can build on what she learned back when her husband was president.
“My husband believes Barack is less beholden to corporate ties and therefore will be less influenced by the lobbyist-corporations that heavily influence policy makers. This is the first time that we will not be voting the same way.
“I will confess that I’m saddened that I’ll be lumped in the polls as just another middle-aged white female voting for Hillary since it has absolutely nothing to do with gender or ethnicity.”
Her husband, Mark Mintz, 53, is a cartographer for the state.
Someone get Mark Mintz to the following website:

The Truth vs. Barack Obama
Obama is so beholden to corporate America. More so than Hillary ever thought of.
I write to urge politically aware mothers and our civilized and thoughtful daughters and sons, whatever our skin tone, confidently to vote for Hillary Clinton in November and in the meantime to do whatever we can to ensure her nomination.
There’s no need to fault the adorable Barack for his confusion. He’s the son of an exceptionally intelligent, conscientious mother (and superbly competent grandmothers, from what I read). Lucky and bright kid though he is, he cannot escape unfortunate rites of passage in finding out exactly what it is to be a racist chauvinist if one aspires to be a national leader par excellent — that is, a most successful Male among most successful Sons of a one and only Almighty God. Not unreasonably, men rely on this exploitable social set up, seeing as how they have unconditional support from hosts of intelligent women who religiously support their, er… religion.
Nature does not produce females and males as equals, physically or in mental capacity. It’s difficult to argue that every person born is human, since it takes a mentally competent human mother to humanize her animal child. Man is woman’s son and it’s up to mothers and wives to keep sons civilized (fathers are woman’s sons, I urge everyone to keep in mind).
Only mothers can and do — fortunately for everyone — make a profound and lasting difference in the human body politic and our human ship of state, religious belief being the essence of both. I admire you all for listening attentively to the notions of leadership of Wright and Obama. This is real human stuff! Sons can’t get any finer than those two.
God is great and god is good. Yet everyone’s godly beliefs cannot exactly conform to my (or your) godly beliefs for the simple reason that we all have different mothers. Sure, mothers are all identical in biological function; it’s the intellectual reasoning of mothers that matters most in our human case.
So long as we mothers do our duty to our species, to wit, civilize our sons, the testosterone-driven passions of competitive males might just possibly be kept appropriately domesticated. The most civilized and hopeful governance of men is never by the most powerful big brothers but by the most competent, conscientious, and hardworking mammas. Vote for Hillary! She understands the nation’s crying need for civilizing, female governance, plus she’s shown the grace to suffer fools charitably if not gladly.

Obviously this is first wave feminism speaking.
Yo Hillary is on CNN LIVE again in yet another city in Indiana.
Some one should do a blog about the GEOGRAPHY lesson we’re all getting with Hillary! I’m learning about these places right along with her. How great is that?
Women do things so much differently than men. It’s so apparent. Watching things blossom and grow. Pruning the weeds. It’s been quite a lesson for me. All of it!
Flash Alert:
From the bitter, bitter wilderness of gun-totin’ churcifyin’ NC comes this report of how the two candidates are campaigning:
…Getting the nuances and particularities of a community just right is a problem, perhaps an inevitable one, for a candidate whose necessary life is in the campaign bubble. Not only do Senator Obama and his press entourage never really see towns like Hickory but they don’t see the opposition first-hand, as well. Therefore, Senator Obama has no idea that, despite whatever her campaign may be up to, Senator Clinton hardly ever mentions him anymore. Despite his remark to Hickory that he’s told his staff the campaign needs to get away from going negative, Senator Obama laid into Senator Clinton, usually in conjunction with Senator McCain, several times during the afternoon. At one point he said, “Lately the other candidates aren’t talking about their ideas–they’re talking about me.” As far as Senator Clinton is concerned, nothing could be further from the truth. She presents more ideas on the stump than she has time for. This misrepresentation incensed a group of women friends in Hickory. They had seen Hillary Clinton several times in North Carolina and had come to hear Barack Obama before finally making up their minds. Scratch twelve votes for him.
“Don’t hit on Hillary.” Only the day before the Hickory event, Jean Weiss, a feisty eighty-two year-old, told Obama, when he called on her, thinking he would get a question, just that. Age admonishing youth, it was a powerful moment that the crowd much appreciated. That Senator Obama seemed to have forgotten Weiss only a day later may be a sign only of Wright-driven stress. Often on the campaign trail, however, despite his frequent comment that as President he will listen to the American people, Barack Obama seems to hear only what he wants to hear. Given the mass adulation with which he is received now, audiences don’t seem to perceive Obama’s selective detachment. If Obama is the next President of the United States, however, the mainstream media as well as bloggers will be busy documenting the various scenes in which this dynamic manifests itself.’
Barry the ignorant is even now giving evidence that not only is he lousy and legislating, speechifyin’, policy, and real estate deals….
He’ s one Ignoramus at campaigning. Thank the Democratic Party for at least one thing….
This long primary as given the voters the time they needed to discover who Barry the Ignorant really is!
I hope this diary finds its way to HRC Campaign HQ - what a great and relatively simple way to drive a wedge into what appears to be a one-way deal between the AA press and Candidate Obama.
I think the black community as a whole should also share the blame, imo. Why should they have given him 90+% votes, unconditionally and without question? He is a politician, he will take any votes that are free.
and the way some of the spoke about the clintons and treated them is disgusting to me. let them look to their best interests not what looks nice. gift horses or ponines and all that.
You have just bought a pig in a poke! See my post below!
Not really. My general comment still stands. In a democracy, when a large group of voters give their precious vote without question, they are acting against their own self-interest. Vote is the leverage they have and they should use it in their self-interest.
Perhaps this will be the one great change that Obama will pull off. For years, black political experts have tried to explain to the black community that they shouldn’t always give their votes so solidly to the Democratic Party. Some blacks actually, believe it or not are more in line with the Conservative mindset of the Republican Party, but are afraid to embrace them for fear of the stigma it would produce in their community.
This definitely needs to change. It might be better for the AA community to split up their votes. It might put an end to racial politics and the distrust that a black candidate generates among white voters.
But yes I agree. If you give your vote away, then expect nothing in return. But the only way the AA community will learn that is for Obama to get elected. And I realy don’t want him to be POTUS.
It’s the ‘OJ’ syndrome… The large population of AA voters don’t CARE what obama has done… They are backing him anyway…
It’s sad how they can’t see how he is exploiting them. He will throw them all under a bus when he needs to too…
Correct…..The OJ Syndrome….Who could forget that…..
So let me get this straight . . . you claim that he is “race baiting” in one breath, then turn around and complain that he is not doing anything to appeal to Black voters by “snubbing” the “Black media”? And do you mean ALL the Black media? Or is it just the newspapers?
Hmm . . . let’s read the article. Yup . . . only newspapers are complaining. And you know what else? THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT HILLARY, TOO!
Do you people realize that you undercut your own credibility when you only report half the story . . . or, like her, only about a quarter of the story? It’s not “Black media complaining about Obama”, its “Black newspapers complaining about Obama and Clinton”.
And another interesting point. Note that one guy bitching and moaning was from the “Chicago Crusader”. What the heck is the “Chicago Crusader”? Anyone with a brain knows that the important Black newspaper in Chicago is the damn near 100 year old Chicago Defender! Is there even a paper called the Crusader? What is its circulation? Is it just some guy handing it out in his neighborhood?
You folks need to get a reality check before you swallow too much of this b.s.!
oh put a zipper in it bob.
delurking to type: Amen!
Why are Obama’s supporters tryin to ILLEGALLYSUPPRESS VOTING IN NORTH CAROLINA AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IS INVESTIGATING THEM ?
NPR : All Things Considered…5/1/2008
Huh BROB ?
Well I think I covered their complaint about Hillary and Mccain and the party. Didn’t you read it, or did you get all red faced before you finished. The fact is the publications are very hurt that he didn’t toss some of his largesse their way, as at least a sign of gratitude. And that they had to reduce the cost of advertising, what little he did with them, like they are his personal peons that he doesnt’ really owe much thanks to. You know, a nice page add that says thanks for your support? Or Gee, I am not really ignoring you for white people? Hey, don’t blame me, I didn’t make the quotes. And they are direct aren’t they? And will you even TRY next to tell me what I should stress in my articles? Why don’t you go write your own friggin’ articles? Too much work?
And yeah he is a race baiter. Only he does it with his surrogates. In a very timely way I might add. Like that’s something that has nothing to do with him.
Why am I wasting my time answering you anyways. You are only here to bother everybody.
Reality check this.
I personally intend to ignore any trash you put on this board from now on and I urge everyone else to do the same. Go to Kos and get reassigned. Nobody cares about your crap here.
The b.s. that we are not swallowing all comes from b-rob and his band of clones.
I’ve Copied & Pasted your comment about the Chicago Crusader into an email to let them see for themselves what Barack Obama’s white supporters think about the AA community and why Obama is pandering to them.
Thanks Blob!
Its to bad we cannot stay on the issues as Hillary is trying to do.
My candidate has to have some International Experience and cognizance. some understanding of the run away Federal debt, the unstable financial community and a solid answer to getting health care costs.
Obama demonstrates none of these characteristics in a solid form. Especially not fulfilling his responsibilities on the Senate Foreign Affairs subcommittee in Europe and NATO. More over when off script he demonstrates a amazing lack of capability to articulate an answer, mumbling, stumbling etc. At 3:00 in the morning we need some one ready to go.
B-Rob’s “analysis” aside, this is what I have to say about this. Let’s not let it get out of hand here. First, with 90% of AA vote, why does Obama need to advertise in the Black Media? Plus he tried (very hard) not to be the AA candidate. And just like B-Rob pointed out (in a more colorful way) Hillary has problems there too.
So, it is a long primary, hell, my relatives in Europe ask me every week “what are you guys doing” and “when do you start the real race” lol … so let’s take a deep breath not get distracted.
We’re not distracted. The article is about this subject. How about a couple of nice page spreads saying THANKs for your HELP?
Uppity, I have a lot of respect for you and all Hill’s supporters. What I was trying to say is that at this point is up to the AA community to look into these things, especially since they are supporting Obama at record numbers. So far it looks that the trend has not changed, even though as pointed out above, Obama has ignored the black media. But so has Hillary. I guess this issue is mute point.
We are dealing with identity politics. If this is not a demonstration of that, I don’t know what is.
Well, I found this to be a pertinent post into the character of Obama. I think it’s on track and in keeping with the issues being discussed here. Btw, the article I read said that the publishers understood why Hillary wasn’t taking any ads with them since they weren’t voting for her and her campaign had financial problems and Obama’s campaign had money’s mother.
To me the point goes back to the central issue of ‘change,’ which is fundamental to Obama’s campaign. This had been a problem in the Democratic Party for a long time not spending with minority media. Obama comes along and says he’s offering a new kind of vision and not the ’same old politics.’ To me this comes under that heading.
But you know what? Had he just gone on and spent the chump change with these small black presses, we wouldn’t be having this conversation and most white people wouldn’t have even thought about it one way or the other. It’s not like you all are reading these newspatpers? Or are you?
Obama had nothing to lose, his campaign could well afford it, and everything to gain. It would have flown under the radar. Which is why I’m glad it’s been brought out front and center.
You know, you can’t have it both ways. You can’t malign blacks for not working and looking for hand-outs and at the same time not support the ones who are heavily invested in entrepreneurship. Obama blew a golden opportunity to prove that work pays off. But then again I guess it doesn’t if it means that Obama’s campaign would have been marginalized by placing an ad in these obscure newspapers.
This helps me understand why Obama stiffed Tavis Smiley’s “State of Black America back in February—-despite knowing of the event a whole year in advance! Guess who showed up, knew her stuff, talked with Tavis at length, and answered questions for hours. One guess is all you get. The next president of the United States, that’s who….of ALL the United States!
Bravo!
