I don’t understand why he calls himself black and why nobody ever questioned his “blackness”?! Just simply look at color of his skin – completely white! His facial features are also not African at all, more like South European (Sicilian) or Turkish /Arabic. If Obama was truly trying to 'transcend' race, in his 'great speech on race' he would have eloquently pointed out this fact.
