Texas Caucus Fraud

Following my friend Lois Capps’ endorsement of Barack Obama, it became clear that I had done her and other delegates a disservice by not disclosing information I witnessed at the Texas caucuses, and that endorsements should be made with the benefit of this information. After her endorsement, I wrote to Rep. Capps so that she can be fully informed in the event that delegates are forced to shift from one candidate to the other as the party forms a consensus behind the stronger of the two candidates.
I need to point out that I am not on the Hillary for President campaign staff, and that the campaign has gone to significant lengths to keep this dirty laundry out of the press. However, it is my strong feeling that we should not withhold evidence of crime, particularly since it is inconsistent with the public Obama image of being above “anything it takes to win,” and it sheds significant light onto the otherwise puzzling difference between the popular vote and caucus results. Here are excerpts from my letter to Rep. Capps.
I was a volunteer field organizer in El Paso, Texas and investigated irregularities for three weeks after the election.
As a Democratic Coordinated Campaign Regional Director in 1996 and as a volunteer on campaigns in the 1990s, I have the ethical obligation to report what I saw in Texas.
When California 22nd CD Republican candidate Tom Bordonaro famously tried to suppress the vote by phone banking under a false name, many of us in the Capps campaign immediately said that we would walk away from a campaign if our side were similarly unethical. That moment kept replaying through my head election night in El Paso. Simply put, the Obama campaign made Tom Bordonaro look ethical.
Lois Capps is correct when she wrote that Sen. Obama is inspiring. However, many of the actions of his campaign that I witnessed and investigated are criminal.
I know this information is jarring, and puts DNC delegates in an uncomfortable situation, but if the time comes for delegates to endorse or get behind a consensus candidate, this information should be available. As I wrote to Rep. Capps, I apologize for not illuminating this earlier.
My observations in Texas were that caucuses were broadly illegitimate. In a few well-run counties, Hillary’s caucus vote was the same or better than the popular vote, but in chaotic counties, she fell behind by double digits. While Texas is the only state to have both a binding popular vote and a caucus vote, we saw similar results in Washington State, where Obama’s numbers plunged in the unofficial primary compared to the caucuses .
This stands out: only four major Texas counties were orderly enough to report most of their caucus results election night, and in three of these, caucus preference mirrored the popular vote (HRC popular/caucus): El Paso (69/75), Austin/Travis (37/34), San Antonio/Bexar (56/57). In the case of Austin, I have read reports that that both sides ran their caucuses well.
These counties had exceptional organizations, but it should not take heroics to run a fair election.
On election night in El Paso, it became obvious that the Obama field campaign was designed to steal caucuses. Prior to that, it was impossible for me to imagine the level of attempted fraud and disruption we would see. It was far worse than any GOP campaign I have organized against on the Central Coast, worse than Tom Bordonaro’s, worse than Andrea Seastrand’s, worse than the Dole campaign whose supporters vandalized our headquarters.
We saw stolen precincts where Obama organizers fabricated counts, made false entries on sign-in sheets, suppressed delegate counts, and suppressed caucus voters. We saw patterns such as missing electronic access code sheets and precinct packets taken before the legal time, like elsewhere in the state. Obama volunteers illegally took convention materials state-wide, with attempts as early as 6:30 am. Some of this was presented in a press release from Clinton Campaign Counsel Lyn Utrecht, but I witnessed worse than what she disclosed.
In one example of fraud that I witnessed, one of my precinct captains, an elderly Hispanic woman, called me to report that BHO supporters had illegally seized control of the convention. During our series of phone calls, Mrs. “A.” reported that the Obama people took the convention materials and did not have a legal election of officers. Like nearly all of El Paso, BHO people would have lost such an election in this majority-Hillary, Hispanic, mostly elderly precinct convention.
The Obama people ordered Mrs. A. to sit across the room during the delegate calculation, and excluded Hillary supporters from the process. Mrs. A. overheard an Obama supporter call in a false delegate count to Austin. In a 13 delegate precinct where Obama should have won approximately 4 delegates, the Obama supporters attempted to award 19 delegates to Obama. This was not innocent. During my attempts at cell phone diplomacy, the Obama “chair” hung up on me, and refused to talk to the ethical Obama organizer I was paired with at another precinct convention. As with all major attempts at fraud that we identified, this delegate count was rectified in private at the county TDP headquarters, according to TDP rules, but there were no public charges or sanctions. It is my opinion that people should be in jail, but there is not a mechanism for this sort of prosecution, certainly not within TDP rules.
Although I have only volunteered in one state, virtually every Clinton staffer I have talked to has similar stories from other caucus states. While the Hillary field campaign operates and feels very much like typical Democratic campaigns, the Obama campaign is something new to Democratic politics. From my perspective, it looks like it has copied the worst attributes of Republican campaigns, but with unprecedented zeal.
Ironically, only in very well-organized areas like El Paso were we able to even identify the scale of the attempted irregularities. In these areas, we were also able to rebuff most attempts at fraud, correct fraudulent delegate counts, and protect our voters. In less well-organized areas, we did not have enough eyes and ears to identify or stop fraud, and our numbers plunged.
Although affidavits have not been made public, I have copies and records of the voter complaints for which I did interviews. Although the Hillary campaign has not gone public with evidence of fraud, the national legal team has approximately 200 such affidavits and 2000 voter complaints. The campaign intends to win the popular vote without airing these charges in public, but I suspect the campaign will provide authorities with this evidence upon request.
My own sense is that this information should not be withheld from delegates, since it both casts the Obama campaign as stunningly unethical, and it severely undermines the general credibility of caucuses. It also points out that perception and reality are upside down. The campaign that will “do anything to win,” including the illegal acts documented in affidavits, is not Hillary’s.
In fact, I was as proud of the integrity and transparency of the Hillary campaign in Texas as I was of the Capps and Clinton/Gore campaigns of the 1990s.
I would be happy to share records in my position with appropriate authorities.
It is true that elements of the Obama campaign appeal to our better angels, but, in the moment of truth when the Obama campaign echoed Republican Tom Bordonaro’s, I made the personal decision that Sen. Obama cannot be our nominee.
I am positive that any Democrat who witnessed what I did would stand against Sen. Obama now, and I have faith that some endorsements like Rep. Capps’s are temporary. This is wrenching for a Democratic activist like me who has served on county and Assembly District committees, but I cannot support a candidate with a criminal campaign.

There have been some good question in the comments at MyDD.
In this one, there is the question about a challenge by Obama supporters, lawyer/judge Don Williams. My position is that the rules should be followed, and the process be as transparent as possible. I understand that 77% of UTEP sign in sheet preference was for Hillary, after there were a few correction related to fraud from Mr Williams’ side. I understand this challenge should be resolved by the state credentials committee, along with a large number of other challenges, prior to the Austin convention. As I understand it, the challenge states that the rules in the nominations committee at UTEP were misinterpreted. But what I saw was fraud, not a difference of opinion about convention rules. I would support any legitimate adjustment to delegate counts, be it from a correction of fraudulent sign-in sheets, or a correction of a faulty ruling.
This post raises a lot of good questions, too many to handle adequately without a new diary:
I’ve yet to hear any verified account of fraud. Two months, but nothign. Why after going for a month and half now on Wright do think the media would just shut out any attempt to challenge the legitimacy of the caucuses? Where is the reporting?! Why is it that you saw this, but no reporters, police officers, judges, lawyers or others who would be compelled to speak up about it and document it?If there is evidence of this I want to hear it. This would be criminal and I’m not.
Finally, Hillary won El Paso by 75%. How with that overwhelming majority did you allow a minority to override the will of the majority? Even in the example of Mrs. A (you told us you witnessed this personally, but the only evidence you give is a person not named and the precinct not given), there was a majority of Hillary supporters. How did they let a minority overrule a majority? That doesn’t make sense. Please explain it to me.
First, why did I keep quiet? I followed the campaign’s guidance to resolve these issues behind closed doors. There were a few elements of this: the campaign’s first concern was make as many corrections to the delegate count as possible within TDP rules, in TDP offices. Once the deed was done, an orderly audit benefited our side, and pushing these charges in the press would have created a circus (a la Florida) that would have shut down the process of verifying sign in sheets and delegate calculations.
Second, why no reporting? Because the press did not seek to investigate this, even though the Clinton campaign published the linked press release that we had evidence of widespread illegalities. I called a reporter from the El Paso Times who did not return my call. Also, this did not get pushed in the press after the initial press release because the TX Hillary campaign chose to trust the process and grind out the delegate count. Since the TDP is run by people who support both campaigns, there would have been a serious lose of face to air these charges, and would have strained the professional relationships between all in the campaigns and in the party. In the specific case of El Paso, I am told Chair Danny Anchondo did not want to humiliate leading Obama-supporting Democrats who he will have to live with for years to come.
Third, how did a minority faction override the majority? In the end, they did not. We had the best field operation I have ever seen, and in most cases, had a few trained people in each precinct. I should add, our organization was so overwhelming, the Obama campaign abandoned their precinct captain program about a week before the election, placing their bets on an election-day blitz by out of state organizers. We were also transparent, and included people with ties to the Obama campaign in our caucus training program. We knew that an orderly process favored Hillary. We would not have known about Mrs. A’s precinct if we did not have trained people in the room.
So, we were able to over-turn problems like Mrs A’s precinct after the fact. How did the Obama organizers seize the convention in the first place? By intimidation, by physically controlling the legal documents, and by ignoring the legal process that called for an election of officers. They took the convention package and never let go of it.

The Clinton campaign is doing itself in particular and the American people in general a disservice (to put it charitably) by not making this matter public. Activities like these tend to suggest that while it would be difficult for a President to be worse than bush, but Obama might be just that.
We’re speaking of it here, and this is a start.

Before you make a statement like that jwrjr you might want to read up on the issue. There was talk of using the courts but the Press excoriated her Campaign for it. The whole thing was rigged ( not hard in Texas ). One Precinct captain of over 20 years who is an AA woman was chased to the police station on Caucus night by Obama Supporters….It was a MESS especially in the precincts with large AA populations. The state party stopped counting because in the NEW OBAMAMATH 40% is the new majority.
I remember that on the news. The press made it out to be ‘the Hillary camp was trying to steal Obama delegate sheets’. Funny, I have to come here to get the real story.
I watched it happen…..There were groups of teenagers illegally caucusing in AA precincts…..There was a riotous atmosphere….
It was very scary in some places….One woman a Clinton Supporter from Spring Tx. witnessed anoher woman getting attacked because Obama supporters were blocking entry to the precinct…..It was a sham…..In this part of the country folks have always been leery of the potential for racial conflict….Obama’s supporters mastered the exploitation of it…..Frankly Texas was caught unprepared….
WCA, I am a Washington State delegate, I saw it here, too. It pissed me off. I got so angry at some young, slick, leather clad Obamaton who was pushing a group of elderly Hillary supporters around. My husband had to pull me away and calm me down. The arrogance…dear god, I hope I wasn’t THAT big of a douche when I was young.

I have been hollering about his since after WA caucus. I notfied Hill campaign. It helped a little but no one knew what to do. That’s how it came to be that Hill voters in Texas should go to the caucus early and to lead the caucus so that Obamaliens wouldn’t take over. They were instructed to take the voter package so Obamaliens wouldn’t. He clearly stole the caucus votes. There is alot. too much to post here. I cannot vote for him because of this. This election is NOT fair. Obama has destroyed the Dem Party and can’t get voted in this fall because of it. Anyway it’s old news to me and I was broken up about it last Jan just like you all are now.

I am from NH, and even there Obama’s campaign broke at least 3 laws, something people in my state do not take kindly to. You are right Laws are Laws, and perpetrators should receive due judgement.

I’m from Texas and every chance I get I hav e posted in the commentary about Texas. Look the GOP ( I won’t sully my keyboard by mentioning his name ) former Majority Whip achieved the WORST DISTRICT JERRYMANDERING IN DECADES THROUGHOUT THE STATE…shortly before he was drummed out of DC. He is too scared to reside in his home district of HOUSTON let alone TEXAS. You have him to thank for change in property laws that now allow just about anyone to seize property for the right of IMMINENT DOMAIN….
Texas Politics has always been a tad shady but has become so corrupt of late even ordinary republicans are disturbed….in Texas this says a lot.
Obama campaigned in 4 cities. Clinton was all over the state. Look at the county map and you can see how many counties she won in the primaries.
It is astonishing…..Obama I think won 3….Texas is the second largest state in the union. It was the equivalent of Obama taking Anchorage but getting

They have been throwing her votes in the trash in every state. It was witnessed everywhere. Someone from WA said she left the caucus because they threw her vote in the trash. Many people had serious doubts their vote counted after having spent a whole day at the caucus.
I’m happy to see someone is finally coming forward with the caucus corruption in Texas.
However, there is much more to it. There were actually threats made to Hillary voters and physical violence – pushing, pulling, blocking, and stealing documents right out of people’s hands. Hillary voters were forced to leave or face dire consequences.
It was a disaster full of crime and corruption. I’m sure Saddam’s elections were more civilized.
Any fool could clearly see from the results that something was seriously wrong. Hillary clearly won the organized primary and lost the corrupt caucuses.
I think that NC will not be caught unprepared like Texas. Democrats across the state are still stunned and in a state of shock about it. We knew that there was something “fishy”, this just conforms it. Maybe the state DNC officials will not tolerate this, the national DNC (i.e. H. Dean) gives the appearance of condoning it.

They are passing out Phony (sample ballots with the word sample removed) ballots with Obama already checked on it in NC. They hand them out at the door and do not check for ID. That’s the latest about NC. Trouble is, no one knows what to do about it even though it is occuring right under their garlic noses.
Wyoming had serious problems too. It was an exciting day for Dem voters there who thought they would finally crawl out of the woodwork and get their voices heard. Groups and groups of families for Hillary got in their vans to drive long distances to the main caucus. (why they had to drive so far I do not know) When they got there, they were dumbfounded when the Obamabots had locked them out of the primary even though they wer on time. That is why Hillary campaign began telling voters to arrive early. Is this America? I bet they haven’t had a good night’s sleep since. They probably can’t stand the site of BO on TV either.
In Texas, Hillary voters were told to wait otuside and they woudl be called inside in due time. 3 hours had passed and the caucus inside was going on without them so they all went home.
Imagine a Hillary rally. Now Imagine that amount of people all waiting 3 hours in the parking lot. many ahd kids in tow and elderly. Democracy?

Having been born and raised and lived my entire life in a Primary state, I simply do not understand this process not having had an opportunity to experience it first hand. I mention this because the siezeble AA population in my state, already blinded by their desperation to see an black president, will not understand it either.
What’s up with this whole Caucus system anyway? Supposedly to give small states an equal edge? Well if they’re not going to run the thing fair and square and all of these fraudalent tactics are possible then I say to hell with trying to give concessions to smaller states. They need to earn it by making sure voter fraud isn’t possible.

He stole approx 3-1 in some states and definitely 2-1 in the remainder states. They have a system.

Obama has cheated in every caucus. What happened in Texas probably happened everywhere else. In Guam, there somehow are 500 “spoiled” ballots, mostly in a Clinton-heavy district. There are missing ballots as well. Guam was stolen. Texas was stolen. The margins in states like Washington and Idaho were immensely more than the true count. Obama may have up to 100 illegally obtained delegates. His nomination, cheered by the party elites and the media, will be stolen. When it’s all over, someone will inevitably be elected. I attended the Washington State caucus this year.. my second. It was awful! The Obama people took over the precinct location, and it was all but impossible to find the tiny table they’d relegated for Hillary’s supporters.
I have no doubt my caucus location was gamed. When I walked up to the door an Obama volunteer was directing people where to go, while handing out Obama stickers and pushing him on anyone who would listen. Once inside, there were a few hundred people crushed into a room, and I was told to find the “Hillary table” in the center of the room (while all the other tables were Obama tables) I was told all I had to do was sign my name and leave. No one was checking any voter registration, no one was checking to see if the person signing in was not filling in additional names — nothing was checked against a list of voters. It was so completely out of control that anyone could have easily brought in pre-signed sheets and laid them on the table, like they did in Texas. It was a room filled with aggressive Obama supporting men, and it was incredibly intimidating. I ran into many Hillary supporters that signed and left because they did not want to deal with those people.
Obama has figured out how to game the system. Considering the way he hired that expensive law firm to challenge his competitors off the ballot in Illinois, I have no doubt this is a coordinated effort.
The “sign and leave” tactic is bogus.
They want you to leave so you don’t have enough people to cover your share of the delegates.
In my precinct in Texas, the prec. caption (an Omama man)
a) didn’t check IDs
b) used blank sheets of paper for people to sign
c) told people they could leave, but didn’t explain the whole process, so….
…us Clinton supporters barely had enough people to cover our 3 delegates we won.
Plus, I they (I think purposely) put some Obama people in with our group, so later they either didn’t show up, or were disqualified because they weren’t even in the right precinct.
Then the same guy had to be bugged twice to send out the delegate information. And he sent our info to the Obama campaign so I got spam and phone calls from them.
And then the C.F. of a county convention….what a joke.

Obama “hired volunteers” voted in every state and refused to check registration or ID. They knew how to take control of the caucus because they were trained in the summer of 2007 by Obama camp. This was planned way ahead of time.

I was just wondering this morning where we stood with the Texas irregularities. I was shocked that someone asked why the police were not involved.. and I can only think that they missed the scant coverage of police having to escort Hillary’s supporters into some precincts for that Texas Caucus.

Capps helped the newlyweds purchase their home in D.C., that Capps shares with them. It gives some background as to her endorsement of Obama. My own sense is that this information should not be withheld from delegates, since it both casts the Obama campaign as stunningly unethical, and it severely undermines the general credibility of caucuses. It also points out that perception and reality are upside down. The campaign that will “do anything to win,” including the illegal acts documented in affidavits, is not Hillary’s.
You said it. It certainly DOES UNDERMINE the credibility of caucuses. This information also calls into question the credibility of Obama’s delegate count. Fraud is fraud. There is no allowance for being “of two minds” on this issue.
BO desperately needed to claim that he won a big state and with the “fraudulent” caucus count of Texas…it appeared that he did garner a win. I found it interesting and rather telling that his rabid supporters weren’t SCREAMING VICTORY as they often do. I’ve pointed this out to many friends and advised them to keep a close eye on Texas.

I first heard of this election stealing a few days after the Iowa caucus. It was on the Edwards blog where one person (Field of Dreams) wrote a diary describing how the Obamas took over their local caucus, She was precinct captain in a small town precinct where she had lived many years and recognized or know almost everybody. She did not recognize about 100 new people who arrived on Illinois buses or Illinois cars. They tried to intimidate, had no ID or proof of address.
Many other people in other precincts wrote in to tell of similar experiences in other precincts. One captain said that a few days before the caucus names of committed Edwards voters disappeared from their computer database.(Think of all the Obama hacking on these blogs). There were lots of stories, everyone was outraged, but no one knew what to do about it. The Des Moines Register at the time had one or two articles about some reports but nothing came of it.
I began research to write an article about it, but I had no specific people to contact, I was too far away, and was concerned that no big media source would take it, so it fizzled out, but I have not forgotten.
Then there were those great videos by Kim someone after Texas. Then that was dropped, too. This is an amazing story and coverup.
I think it is time to do something about it. It has to be done by large numbers of people. It’s time also to let DNC know how serious we are about Michigan and Florida, too. It needs to be spread around other Hillary sites. Maybe a large group resignation from Dem Party if something is not done about these issues.
The way I see it is Obie stole Iowa, which gave him cred for the other states. Really he should have been out and Edwards in. Then there would have been responsible campaign about issues, they would have run together, party and country would have been saved. Instead we have this sad state of affairs.

I think Wa state is a good example of how undemocratic caucuses are. Obama swept our caucus, but five times as many people turned out for our primary and it was a very close split. (No delegates come from our primary though, so those voters don’t count.) The caucus does not reflect the will of the people, they reflect the will of the loudest people with the most free time.

Instead, in just a week, Mrs Clinton has reversed a narrow Obama lead in Indiana and is closing fast in North Carolina, where Mr Obama had hoped for a convincing win.
A poll on Saturday found 58 per cent of voters believe his de-nunciation of the Rev Wright was merely an act of political expediency.
The Rasmussen survey found 56 per cent of voters thought it likely that Obama shares some of his pastor’s anti-American views.
A senior Democrat strategist privy to Obama’s campaign said: “He’s sick of the battle against Clinton. He wants to get stuck into McCain. His people have had to remind him that this thing isn’t over yet and he needs to focus and put her away.”

My daughter made a number of calls as a volunteer to Texas Hillary supporters to tell them just when the caucus were and where. Apparently the Obama dirty tricksters (formerly college Republicans I think) were sending out letters and other calls to say the caucus sites were changed or the dates were changed hoping to have Hillary supporters not show up. there were a lot of pissed off Hillary supporters who had personally received communications trying to send them on a wild goose chases. I guess Karl Rove got himself some Democrats, like they got themselves some judges.
Yeah, they dirty trick, but they use VERY OLD dirty tricks, the plebeian dirty tricks.
And it’s kinda dumb to think strategy hasn’t moved on, but they can’t see it.
So, Rove bamboozles the public into voting for Bush, and then does the same with the war, and 9.11, exploiting it.
Yet, despite all these grand moves, his agenda, like Bama’s, is falling apart.
Why?
Are they being gamed?
They can’t answer, so focused on “the win.”
But Ok, in an asymmetrical war, say, I don’t have the resources to out bribe Obama’s peple when t comes to SD’s, or the media. And I don’t want to, I don’t want to further the decay of the US government. And I know he uses ancient methods of propaganda, and he’s not very bright.
So, how do I fight, to keep garbage like Rove from implementing his real agenda, how do I limit his corruption, without resorting to the same tactics, because, say, we want an America that functions according to the Constitution?
The first thing I see is he’s not very smart, and he’s utilizing a system of denial, and all systems of denial are doomed to failure, for reasons he can’t grasp.
Rove is behind all of this. He is afraid of Hillary and wants her out. You can guess why. He is behind Obama campaign. Go to Amazon and google Karl rove and find his book called “how to steal an election”. You’ll see that everything he wrote are the tactics empoyed in Obama caucuses.

As soon as I read this article, I got on the phone and called every one Hillary’s campaign offices. I left messages at most of them since it’s Sunday and nobody was there. But I got a live person at one of them and she told me Hillary is well aware of the fraud going on. Her campaign has filed numerous legal proceedings, but the DNC doesn’t want to hear it. They’ve also alerted the media, but the media doesn’t want to pick up the story. It’s disgusting. It makes me so angry. Oh, and I just read a CBS/NY Times poll stating that Obama is ahead of Clinton 51 to 38. That can’t be true! There’s no way in hell.

Right…all of a sudden a spark of patriotism ran through this man’s veins and he decided that now that it is too late…now he has to tell the truth. If one has a sense of what is right and he claims not to be on anyone’s side other than that of justice…then he or she speaks out immediately and not when it is convenient. Anyone who buys his reasoning without any verified facts, just heresay is too simple in thought to have any part in deciding the future of this nation in any form of intellectual manner. He reasons that he was following the rules in not disclosing but somehow he had to break them without showing proof of such violations. Only those who are desperate for Obama to lose would be so willing to simply go “yeah, you know what…I read of this or saw it myself, blah, blah, blah.” If this were true, no amount of cover up would prevent the media or Hillary from exposing it, just like any of the other issues that have been discovered about both Barack and Hillary. Was the Wright or Ayers situations hidden or were they exposed? There are also stories of Clinton camps making false phone calls in NC trying to make voters believe that they had to wait for a form to be received in the mail for them to sign before registering and of course that form never existed. And in turn, those people waiting for this form were not able to register in time. Was that also true, or was it someone from the opposite side trying to make the other look unscrupulous? If either story had true merit…it would be exposed, so please grow up and open your mind. I am as white as they get, and I can tell that everyone who chooses to use the moniker “AA” when trying to label African Americans are doing so in a negative and yes…prejudicial manner. Everyone, including all of you, have misled or misconstrued at times in your lives, but if you somehow think that Hillary is innocent of this in any way…then you are the people I would love as customers, because you would buy anything at that point.
First, there are several people on this site who use AA who happen to be AA. It’s shorter, get that?! Get over yourself.
Second, you, like all other Obamatrons, are in denial and want to be in denial. You do not want to know the truth.

In reading these comments, I am just wondering if anyone has thoughts about the robo calls that have been taking place from “womens voices womens vote” that seem to be targeting a large part of the black population? It seems the Attorney General is now involved.
This is likely from a Republican group of women. They want a piece of the action and can’t stand BHO.
That group actually does exist and they are not affiliated with any campaign. They claim they just want to increase women voting blocks or some such thing. They are not making calls any longer and they put some statement on their web site– but I don’t have the site on hand. If you google their name you will probably find them.

I witnessed what I felt were fraudulent practices at one of the Denver, Colorado caucuses. Our’s was done in the small auditorium/gymnasium of an aged (to be demolished this year), nearby elementary school. Ten precincts were done at that location. My group was crammed up against the stage around a single six foot foldable table. Upon entering the school, Obama signs were posted on the walls, we were greeted by young followers with their Obama buttons proudly shown as they handed us a flyer for him and pointed us towards the gym. At our table, as we filed by, we were told to sign in with our name and candidate preference. I glanced at those before me, indicating a preference for Clinton. I managed to crawl under the table so I could be near my elderly neighbors. Shortly thereafter, after the doors were supposed to have been locked, some speaking began at the other end of the room. We couldn’t hear what was happening, because several people continued to come in for fifteen minutes and ask for directions across the table from where I was. When the talking stopped, we were directed to proceed within our specific precints. At that point, someone (don’t know who) said he would call out our names from the list and we were to say our preference. As this happened, I took count on a notepad. Hillary was ahead by at least twenty and then curiously, almost one after another voted for Obama. At one point, one woman wanted to vote uncommited, she was told by those running the process that she couldn’t. She tried to stick to her guns and was finally told, “Just pick one, this vote doesn’t really matter”. In the end, unbelievably, the count was 35 Clinton and 37 Obama. Then, we were told, “Anyone who wants to volunteer for the County Caucus on Saturday…sign in on this sheet – the rest of you can go home”. Being that most of us had never been through the experience, people began to leave. I hung around talking with another Clinton supporter and asking questions of those who had taken charge. Only then, was it explained that only Obama people had signed up for the County and they could choose to vote anyway they wanted, so if we wanted to sign up as an alternate at that point, we would be considered if the need arrived. We then asked if there would be a public record of the vote count that evening. We were told it would be on the County Democratic website in the morning. I gave up looking after several weeks of checking. On our way out, we asked how the other groups had voted and were told it was something they could not share with us. The little I had known about how a caucus was supposed to be run, included 1)voting for officials, (three Obama people were already in charge of our precinct upon arrival) 2)delegates for county should have been voted for & 3)supporters were physically separated into preference groups. Upon later reflection and frustration, I realized that within our space, it wasn’t feasible for there to have been a total of 72 people gathered around our small table (if we had been physically separated into groups, the vote count would have been trustworthy). I have yet to tell my elderly neighbors that that evening and their votes for Hillary had been a complete waste of time. I was wondering when this would surface. The pattern of winning the caucus states and losing the popular vote was far too striking from Super Tuesday.
While only seven votes separated Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in Saturday’s Guam Democratic Caucus, there were more than 400 spoiled ballots. According to Mark Duarte, vice-chair of the Nomination Committee for the Democratic Party of Guam, no official request or challenge has been filed for a recount – at least not yet.
Duarte added that he’s hoping the Central Executive Committee meeting will meet this week so the results can be certified. Obama took the caucus by just 7 votes, which results in both picking up two delegate votes each to be cast at the Democratic National Convention this August in Denver, Colorado.
Hillary may not want to challenge in Guam so as not to appear to be the divisive candidate even though we all know what the pattern is in Obama caucus wins.
I do not believe this story. These are obviously pro-Hillary supporters who have formed a support group. For anyone to imply that Obama broke the law and that poor law abiding citizen, Hillary Clinton, isn’t getting a fair shake, is ridiculous. I want to know why many of her fraudulent dealings aren’t being reported in the news. For example, where is the story about her and Bill being co-defendants in the Peter Paul fraud case? This is a case being brought that alleges that a man gave her NY senate campaign illegal campaign contributions in exchange for favors that Bill Clinton promised but never delivered. How’s that for breaking the law? There is no doubt in my mind that Clinton has dirty people on her team. She can’t even tell the truth about whether or not the she was shot at in Bosnia. To pretend that she deserves the nomination because he’s crooked and she’s pure as the driven snow is absurd. Enjoy your support group, but I will stick with Obama.

Had I not been concerned enough to expand my knowledge of what was supposed to happen at the precinct caucus, my precinct would have been bamboozled as well. We did not have an elected precinct chair prior to the caucus. Our precinct official refused to had over materials to the Hillary people after voting was over. She insisted on waiting for some person? I believe that this was an Obama HQ person as he was seen later in the evening, but never voted during our caucus. Rules stated clearly that she was to hand the material over to whomever asked first since we had no precinct chair. The O camp had several people to instruct the 20 or so O supporters. They were not from our precinct. My precinct is 98% Hispanic. These people were not from El Paso. Hillary had over 100 people there. Note: I did not run the caucus. I did manage to get the process moving according the handbook that I had downloaded and we proceeded that evening. I was intent that our precinct would not fall prey to the O camp as I had heard musings about how these caucuses could be run fraudulently the week prior. The O people were antagonistic and downright rude. It was obvious that HQ had sent people to control the caucus and not to monitor the caucus as was stated by some that evening. All in all, we did very well. We had 85% committed to Hillary and every one of our votes counted. I believe that areas such as mine were targeted by O’s HQ to alter counts by controlling every caucus without a precinct chair. These people have strategies for creating chaos. It was clearly seen on that evening.

This is not news to me, I live in San Antonio, Texas. I personally was told during at a caucus that I needed to vote for Obama, I was being strong armed. I informed the volunteer that he was dealing with an employee of the district attorneys office and not some shrinking violet. Later that evening, several other people complained about how they were first asked who they were voting at the caucus event. If they were voting for Clinton, then they had to jump through hoops just to make sure they got to vote. If the voter was an Obama supporter, then they were in turn even allowed to vote with out any proper idendtification… at times just giving a name!! I am sick to my stomach, over all of the innocent people that were pressured in a very distastful way simply for wanting to VOTE!!!

Caucuses are undemocratic and unDemocratic. Whatever happened to secret ballot? One man one vote? The right to vote for the candidate of your choice without coercion?
Note in addition to the debacle AT the caucuses, the Awful Caucus Skew which has twisted History in this 2008 election. Many people generally know generally that Caucuses Stink, but no one knows this specific huge number of suppressed housebound older-women votes, the Greatest Story Ever Untold about the 2008 election.
The punch line is that in Texas, Hillary’s voters were plus 4 in the Primary and minus 12 in the caucus on the same day. A 16% swing! Suppose we had only seen the caucus results in Texas?
This Awful Caucus Skew ratified the results of my 2400 volunteer phone calls. 87-yr-old Vera in Iowa told me, “Oh no, honey, I can’t caucus for Hillary. I’m a cripple.” Taken aback, I said, “Well, you could vote-by-mail Absentee!” She said, “Not in a caucus state. No Absentee Ballot. If I can’t get there in my body, I don’t count.” “I don’t count”? In America? In the Democratic Party? 82-yr-old Ruth told me indignantly, “Just because I’m sick doesn’t mean I can’t think!”
I began to keep track. Every 8th phone call I made in a Caucus State got me Lorna, “Oh no, dear, I don’t dare go out to caucus, I’m off balance.” There is an epidemic of housebound older women in America who are cheated of their votes by their terrible fear of falling and because the appalling caucus system does not allow them an Absentee Ballot. No ‘ride to the polls’ helps these housebound and bedbound voters. Only the Absentee Ballot. It is a scandal of voter suppression. THEIR votes don’t show up in those ballyhooed pledged delegates and popular vote.
Did you never wonder why Mr. Obama won mainly in caucus states? Hillary’s core vote was prevented from participating in Caucus States. I wish Obama supporters would be honest. Suppose 15% of black voters were prevented from participating? Would there not be an outcry for voting justice. Of course.
This kind of Mockery of Democracy in Caucus States is exactly why superdelegates were created. (Non-lemming) superdelegates were designed to account for gross injustices like the huge voter suppression of Hillary’s core voters in Caucus States.
Despite the Parroted Media Myth in pseudo-reporting, Hillary did NOT lose the women’s vote in Iowa. She did NOT ‘get back the women’s vote’ in New Hampshire because she teared up in a diner. Nonsense. Her voters were forbidden the Absentee Ballot in caucus Iowa. They got back the Absentee Ballot in primary New Hampshire.
The Math is NOT the Math. Your students could run the math and see that if Hillary’s housebound voters were accounted for in Caucus States, she would be comfortably ahead in all the vaunted metrics.
In my sunny ignorance, I still fall for the Myth of American Democracy. I thought surely that the Democratic Party would fight for each vote to count. Go ahead, laugh at my touching naivete. I would laugh too if it weren’t so daggone hideously painful. But I did unexaminedly think that Democrats were — gee — nobler than *them,* the Republicans. I am abashed, my democratic hopes dimmed if not dashed. I’m convinced that this would make a great study or dissertation for a dogged student or team of students. Obama loved caucuses because they disenfranchise people. Who do they disenfranchise?
They disinfranchise the elderly, the disabled, people who work on shifts to keep our asses safe, such as police,firefighters, nurses. The disenfranchise single mothers with babies who can’t hand around. Basically they disinfranchise the base that Obama thinks he doesn’t need. Caucuses are great for non-working people and college kids who can cut class to caucus, while their parents, who are paying for their education, are working.
Winning a caucus is not a very good indicator of what the real electorate thinks of you.
I was a member of the Credentials Committee for the Democratic Party of Collin County, Texas. After witnessing a disregard for the rules of the Texas Democratic Party at my own caucus and hearing stories of bullying, intimidation, and cheating at other caucuses, I obtained copies of all of the caucus sign-in sheets for my county and have been analyzing them since mid-March. The information supports many allegations and complaints against Obama supporters and the Obama campaign made by voters in Collin County. Caucuses are extremely open to fraud. If my data is any indication of what happened at many other caucuses, (and I have heard ours was actually one of the better run ones), the Superdelegates should take the information into account when deciding who to support. It may seem like a few percentage points here or there, but it certainly adds up. I also witnessed the almost complete disregard for the grievances of Hillary supporters who sent complaints to our Credentials Committee. The committee was mostly pro-Obama, including our Chair, as was the person who was legal counsel to the Collin County Democratic Party. This same pro-Obama attorney was the Rules Committee Chair. Even when it was pointed out specific delegates were ineligible, Party Rules were overthrown to make sure Obama’s delegates would count. There appeared to be a systematic attitude of making sure Obama would be the nominee, come hell or high water. I am pretty sure the pigeons shitting on the roof of the County Democratic Party were Obama supporters. I also wrote the Minority Report for the Credentials Committee and some of us submitted it to the Texas State Democratic Party. It details the many outrageous problems at Texas caucuses as well as the lack of proper handling of complaints presented to the Credentials Committee. Our committee did not thoroughly make sure everyone who voted in the caucuses had voted in the primary or in the right precinct, or were even registered to vote in many cases. I did. On my own. I have seen evidence of fraud such as sign-in sheets (which are used to document votes) lacking serial numbers (probably having been printed off the State Party website and passed around prior to the caucuses), delegates who must be ELECTED the night of the caucus being added days or weeks after the caucuses, and caucus packets taken home by Permanent Chairs and turn in days or weeks after the deadlines- which could subject them to alteration. The complaints you may have heard about the Texas caucuses in the media from the Clinton campaign are not just whining. There were alot of shenanigans down here. The Democratic Party is thinking Clinton supporters are just going to make nice? From what I have seen and heard, they are in for a rude awakening. Clinton supporters have been treated with OUTRAGEOUS DISRESPECT by many Obama supporters. I would NEVER call Obama the N-word, yet my candidate is constantly called a B*tch or a C*nt.

If Obama is the nominee, based on the unbelievable corruption I have personally witnessed by his supporters, I will absolutely vote for McCain. I don’t know…maybe not. With all the bias in favor of Obama even in the Democratic Party…maybe this crap runs all the way to the top. We have had reports of all kinds of potential and witnessed fraud. And there is not enough time before County Convention to possibly investigate it all…so guess what…the cheaters win. There are sign in sheets with blank votes that were counted for Obama. There are sign-in sheets that have no serial numbers and reports that Obama supporters printed them off from the TX Democratic website and passed them around before the caucuses. There are sign in sheets with multiple lines written in the same handwriting, and since most people were not checked for ID and sign in sheets were often passed around and unattended, it would have been easy for anyone to sign for their friends or family. There is one Precinct where an Obama supporter’s 12 YEAR OLD SON manned a table with a sign in sheet…no ID checked. RIDICULOUS! I could not possibly make this crap up. IT WAS A COMPLETE FIASCO and the entire caucus should be thrown out. There are people who deliberately voted for Clinton who are Obama supporters and plan to change their votes later. These are the kind of slimeball tactics one expects from politicians…NOT FROM MY NEIGHBORS. But when a campaign coaches ordinary citizens in deception, intimidation, and turning a primary election into a sleazy game, then this country has truly reached an all time low. Both Obama and Hillary campaigned in FL and it is an OUTRIGHT LIE to say they did not. Obama had about 17 events and raised close to $800,000. I have watched the news media plot against Hillary, I have observed the deplorable tactics of Obama’s supporters here in Texas…but I never thought our own Democratic Party would screw her, too. I truly believed our party was the party of the downtrodden…where all could come for fair treatment. Where each person had one vote, one voice. I am heartsick to see how mistaken that naive belief was. No one should get to occupy the White House through lies, cheating, and sneaky plotting at the grassroots level. Those are the politics of balding, fat middle aged Republican men. Shame on you.
As a member of the Collin County Credentials Committee I saw wide spread disregard for state party rules, state law, and federal law. Mrs. Clinton and her campaign have not really wanted to air the party’s dirty laundry in public, but she is not the only damaged party in this case. She might have the presidency taken from her but tens of thousands of Democrats have had their votes taken away or discounted by inelligible voters being allowed to vote.
Everytime I hear her say to support Obama if he gets the nomination I respect her a little less.

Thank God this is coming out. I have been a precinct delegate, Rules committee member and tabulation committee member. I have seen all the rules bend and broken or modified after the fact by our comittee chair to make sure the Obama delegates are seated by fraud. I am a first time voter and I am totally disenchanted by the local and national democratic party because when all the local party officials are so corrupt that they have allowed such a fraudulent caucus result to stand, I am certain the national party leaders know what is going on at local level. Caucus is the most undemocratic way of electing a presidential nominee. Obama has won more delegates due to caucus states which means by fraud and corruption of highest level. I will never vote for him in my life because I can never support a candidate who wins in the most corrupt manner and I know because I have proof of this. I have filed a challenge at the state convention of how Rules committee overturned the rules after the fact and how wrong results were tabulated at the county convention to declare Obama the winner. Dean must do soemthing about the caucus states because it is indeed criminal.
None of this surprises me about the Obama campaign at all. I read somewhere, but can’t remember where, that there are something like 300+ official caucus irregularity complaints recorded with the DNC. The Obama bussed-in crowd was very busy.

Am I the only one that thinks that maybe it’s time for a third (centrist)party that actually represents the voters? I’ve talked to people in Houston, Galveston, and other surroundings areas.
There was pushing, pulling, tripping, blocking, and threats of physical violence. People were locked out, had papers stolen from their hands, and told to sit down and shut up.
There was lying, forgery, theft, and every kind of fraud imaginable.
People were not allowed to vote, or had their votes ignored. It was anything but democratic.
I live in Texas and attended two of the caucuses. The first my precinct and then the senatotial. I am 69 and my husband is 81 and we live in an urban center. Hillary was out voted in the precinct by a vote of 9 to 1 (based on sign in sheets), but when it was required that the groups separate, we were now down to being out voted 45 to 1, most of the Clinton supporters were afraid and left and some hid out with the Obama supporters because they were afraid to be seen with us. We were jeeered and hooted at and only wound up with the enought to send a handfull of us to the Senatorial caucus. The sign in was unlawful, they were to have two lines, one for Clinton and the other for Obama. My husband was supposed to do the Clinton, never gave us a table, never set up a line, instead said they were going to have everyone one come to the front of the room. There was almost 700 people there and every one tried to move to the front. Needless to say this did not work. Then said that there would be two lines to the front, one for those that did not have their voter registration cards (shows you voted), go to one, everyone else to the other. Told them to just show their drivers license, if not just tell them who you are. Hello! People who showed up had to be there by 7:PM and the doors shut. That made no difference they were allowed in right up to the voting and that was about 11 PM. This was Democracy in action? I am going to skip the Senatorial because this has got be to long. My husband and I had to leave after six hours and still no vote on the rules committee report. We learned that it went on until midnight and it had started at 8:AM. Another Senatorial district did not end until sometime early the next day. Hillary carried Texas by 100,000 votes, but lost the delegate count by 4 delegates. By the way in closing we had 300,000 Katrina victims here and all were Obama supporters. If not she would have won by 300 to 400,000 votes.

I don’t think it was mentioned, but was there some hanky panky done in Indiana also. Since when does the votes comes in after 11:00p.m. and they call them legal. Yes Clinton won, but I think,she could have won by more votes. One of the mayors in a certain district,said his votes went to the voting station at 7:00,so what happened between 7-12 midnight,this was the night, that one of the mayors had said, many people are afraid of Obama getting the nomination. He was on Cnn,which I had posted earlier. I don’t trust Obama.I think him and his thugs, would do anything to win.
I also live in Texas and alot of Hillary supporters were told they could not vote if we did not have a registration card even though we voted that day, lists were layed out and no ids were checked, some were told they can sign in and wait some stepped out for a smoke and then were not allowed to come in, : the republican party where the caucus was held , were still counting and the Obama supporters who were in charge kept disrupting their count by stepping in to were they were at, no one knew anything and people waited and waited and waited, no debate was ever taken place, and finally it was late and i finally left, but so many of Hillarys voters were there and did not wait or was turned away, those who did were disgusted at the event. Texas will be a red state , many who voted for Clinton here will vote McCain and the latino vote will be higher than the DNC expect , believe it or not Latinos know McCain better than Obama and when that curtain closes there will be more votes for McCain they do know him from his staned on immigration so just a matter of time for those polls in cali to drop .
I live in Texas and I was also a witness to dishonest practices at my precinct during our caucus, which several of us reported and never heard anything about it since.
Sign in sheets were ‘handed out’ to people, mostly all were Clinton supporters, and they were told to fill them in their selves and then they could leave, which many of them did.
The person that handed these sheets out was wearing an Obama button. When one person went to ask for another sheet since the one they had was full, that was when we all found out this was illegal, and none of the names would be valid/counted. When one person pointed out the person who game them the sheets, he darted out the side door and was gone.
Only a handful of those that filled out the sheets were still there. Several others and I offered to call every one of them to let them know to come back, but this was not allowed. We were ‘told’ that the ones that had filled in all their information ‘would’ be counted, but I have no way of knowing if this was true and still did not change the fact that so many had left.
This was not only illegal, but it also got them to leave before choosing delegates, so when this time came, Clinton people were out numbered 3 to 1.
