Obama Shenanigans: Does This Look Legal to You? Indiana Voters BEWARE! [Update]

VIDEO TITLE:
Is This Legal? Obama Activity in Polling Place

Is there anything his campaign won’t pull to win?

This needs to be reported to county and state election centers in Indiana. NOW.

Those signs sure look like official Obama campaign signage to me.

ALSO: VOTE FOR THIS VIDEO, and let’s get it featured on YouTube’s home page!

::::::::::

UPDATE: This is reassuring, but it doesn’t mean that the activity has stopped. From Election Journal:

Marion County Clerk, Beth White, spoke with Election Journal about this controversial video. She said,

I am aware of what happened in the polling location and we informed the precinct Election Inspector that this was prohibited activity and must not continue.

NO! That is NOT legal. In 2004 I was in Nashville, TN campaigning for Wes Clark and went to a polling site with a sign to stand out front and a policeman made me move because I was too close to the polling place. No political signs are allowed within a certain range.

This is illegal. Why am I not surprised he’s cheating?

CNN, Greta, and now… MSNBC are taking ALL VIDEO from I-Reporters.

PLEASE pass along the word to all who are voting to take pics of any of this behavior or video, if possible. I am from Texas, and I saw plenty of illegal activity from Obamabots to last a lifetime, thank you very much. This is EXACTLY how they win at the Caucuses, always something underhanded. Question is: how did that damn sign get there in the FIRST place, and how many more of them are out there?

Comment by Laffy | 2008-05-06 17:31:17

Hillary supporters crying about “Obama will do anything to win”?

Now I’ve seen everything.

Get back to us if he ever says a states votes should count AFTER he said they shouldn’t and the other candidate took his name off.

Or completely pandered with some stupid gas thing.

Or lied repeatedly about sniper fire.

Or a million other lies she’s told.

She is destroying the Democratic party. McCain should pick her as his running mate.

Comment by radthinker | 2008-05-07 02:46:19

This is exactly why if, BO gets nom, many will not vote for him. It is due to fanatics like you.

Comment by bert | 2008-05-06 18:07:50

It is illegal; at least in the states I have voted and worked in. As a precinct captain in Ohio it was my job to make sure no one campaigned with in, if memory serves, 50 feet of the voting booths. We had to set up flags with a sign no campaigning beyond this point. That included voters who could not even wear a lapel pin. When I campaigned for a candidate I knew you to stay behind the flag marker. Once I was directed by a police officer to even stand a few feet past the flag.

In California poll watches are to be neutral and wear no badges or post any sign for nay candidate. You may go to them to report irregularities which they are to report.

This should be reported and given wide play on TV news. I hope. This primary is getting more surreal by the day.

Obama has cheated throughout the entire campaign – especially in the caucuses.

Comment by Shainzona | 2008-05-06 12:46:11

The Obamanation probably forgot that Indiana is a primary and are pretending it’s another caucus.

Or, they’re just treating it like one!

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-05-06 16:44:31

I think they believe the GE is a caucus. How disappointed they will be if they get that far and don’t get to use the bullying tactics that worked so well for them. I doubt the republicans would be so nice about Obama tables set up inside the polling places.

Comment by joe | 2008-05-06 15:06:07

I believe the previous post was refering to Rev. Wright’s theory that African Americans learn with their left brain and European whites learn with their right brain.

It is quite amazing that the MSM did not report more on this dangerous statement from Wright. That is the same logic that has led to genocide throughout history and Barack was getting a healthy dose of it for 20 years. Even though it seems his wifey ingested more of the hate than BHO, it still can not be a good thing that a possible President of the USA was in an environment for 20 years which preached that different races have an inherent genetic and nuerological makeup which defines them.

Rev. Wright would be right at home chatting with Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and members of the Rwandan death squads.

No matter what happens, Obama is not a legitmate nominee.
It’s sad that he knows he can’t win so he sets up the polling places to cheat. My main concern now is that he is asking for time extension on keeping the polls open. That’s always when he wins. Closing the polls at their regularly scheduled time is best. Obviously he does another method of cheating when the polls stay open later. Who knows what it is?
I say no. Close the polls when they are supposed to close.

Cross over ballots are now being investigated and contested. I have bitter distaste for Barack Hussein Obama.
He is NOT what America needs. He is as crooked as they come. There isn’t an honest bone in his body and he calls himself a Christian? Is anyone else sick of his silliness?
He makes me sick.

I think she was referring to NOVEMBER — you know the GENERAL ELECTION — when everyone votes … the people in Michigan, the people in Florida, the republicans and all of those people with buyer’s remorse who decide that a write in for Clinton or a vote for McCain looks a hell of a lot better than a vote for Barky Obama.

Comment by Jason | 2008-05-06 17:16:03

Easy enough

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/05/05/980557.aspx

“For all the concern voiced by some Democrats that the party might be suffering damage from the nominating fight as it headed into the fall election, the survey found both Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama in a strong position against Mr. McCain in a hypothetical general election match-up. Mr. Obama would defeat Mr. McCain by 51 percent to 40 percent among all voters, the poll found, and Mrs. Clinton would defeat him 53 to 41.”

Both candidates are up – one by 11 the other by 12.

Here is the actual press release:

I asked for a poll, not an MSM fluffer piece …

try reading one of these sweet knees …

Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama’s standing has been significantly damaged by the controversy over his former pastor, according to USA Today/Gallup poll published on Monday.

The poll showed Hillary Clinton leading Obama 51 percent to 44 percent nationally among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independent voters, in contrast to a CBS News/New York Times survey released on Sunday that had Obama leading Clinton by 12 points.

I know you are really slow but the link to the actual poll in its entirety is at the bottom of my post.

But I guess if you can’t read the entire post you probably won’t read the attachment either.

Your poll was among a limited group and compared only Obama and Hillary.

My poll compared Obama and McCain, WHICH IS WHAT YOU REQUESTED and included the entire realm of likely voters.

As you like to point out, its not just democrats who vote in national elections.

And, this is what he wants to do at the National Convention — ramrod his way through to the nomination. And, as I just read in the Chicago Tribune today — make Hillary bow out gracefully like a statesman, and work her heart out for him. If not — more threats of blacks and youth leaving the Party.

Also (at least when I ran for local office a couple of years ago), people with signs or literature couldn’t stand within 50 feet (or was it yards?) of the polling place entrance.

Larry: It doesn’t seem to matter what the Obama campaign does. Everyone gives them immunity to any law or rules. Did you know that the DNC has given Indiana and North Carolina more delegates because they held their primaries in May (just posted on AOL). Of course North Carolina was given more delegates because they expect him to win there so he’ll attain more delegates. Here is part of the article:

WASHINGTON (AP) – Good things such as Democratic delegates come to those who wait.

North Carolina, which holds its primary Tuesday, got an additional 24 delegates for moving its presidential nominating contest from April to May. Indiana, which also has its primary Tuesday, got six extra delegates for keeping its primary in May. North Carolina has 115 pledged delegates at stake, Indiana has 72.

If only Florida and Michigan had the same foresight.

“In retrospect it was the right decision to make,” North Carolina Democratic Chairman Jerry Meek said Monday of the choice made months ago. But, he added, “I don’t think anybody anticipated the presidential primary would be competitive.”

Comment by Catriley | 2008-05-06 13:15:43

The DNC has done everything in its power to be sure Obama gets the nomination. They seem so hellbent on capturing the AA vote, that they’re disenfranchising everyone else. Hey.. why not just treat all voters and all states equally?

All the DNC had to do to stop the flow of AA voters to the republicans, was to offer up a good candidate that speaks to their everyday struggles. Doesn’t matter what color their skins is… but that would far too practical.

Comment by Talktruth | 2008-05-06 14:14:51

There is going to be such a shitstorm if he is the nominee. Bigger than the shitstorm we’re going through now. That shitstorm will make this shitstorm look like…oh, God, never mind, this is getting gross!

Comment by Fredster | 2008-05-06 14:41:21

His projecting is rampant. He has is minions parroting it because he centers his stump speech around Hillary and not the issues.

Comment by Andy | 2008-05-06 17:34:55

What else can we do? It’s like watching a train wreck ahead of time and being unable to stop it: the DNC heads decided on Obama and they are doing everything in their power to help him out; together with the majority of the fourth estate….It’s
really incredible they care so little about the future of this country.

Yes but there’s a reason for that. Hillary is white so she’s not entitled to anything. And she may be related to a lot of famous people but she’s not related to MICHELLE OBAMA so she’s simply not entitled and in a true democracy that means you have to take off your Hill buttons.

In my opinion, the DNC isn’t going to do anything that doesn’t help Obama. They would probably just tip him off. Apparently the video has been already sent to FOX.

THAT WOULD BE A BIG MISTAKE….FOR THE DNC….THE VIDEO IS LIVE…

Lordy! Please tell me I’m not seeing that sign in the same room as the voting machines!

Someone get a copy of the local election rules and cite them chapter and verse!

This should be easy for Obama supporters after their experience cutting and pasting DNC Party Rules.

The Indiana State Treasurer can tell you how many feet away that sign needs to be outside the building.

Comment by sandyR | 2008-05-06 13:19:59

Totally illegal. without question. you see that, you go over and take that sign and throw it in the garbage can.

Maybe you don’t want to take the sign. I would.

Comment by Margaret | 2008-05-06 13:22:02

I don’t think Obama is going to win the nomination. I think the truth will prevail. I mean, look, he’s used all sorts of intimidation, locking Hillary supporters out of caucuses in Texas, threats, propoganda that would make George Orwell want to write another book, and every illegal tactic he can think of, and he’s still losing. I think she’s going to win, I think her integrity, and that of her supporters, will carry the day. The fact that Hillary has won so many states DESPITE these egregious tactics sure does tell us something! She’s a winner! And he can’t do a THING to change that!

The voters of Indiana and North Carolina are speaking today, and I, for one, think we are going to LIKE what they have to say!

Comment by flyarm | 2008-05-06 13:44:08

DON’T COUNT ON THAT.

Comment by Jenny | 2008-05-06 13:57:05

Comment by Lou | 2008-05-06 18:00:43

Hillary is the winner. She’ll always be the winner in my eyes. If you cheat to win does that really mean you won? NOPE. No wonder BHO camp is whining for Hillary to stop running. They have tried every cheating tactic and she is still America’s favorite. Some of those people are sooo bent on stopping Hillary that they can’t see the thug BHO right under their own garlic noses. They will be sorry.
We need to go ballistic across the country and start a revolution. Unseat Kerry, Dean, Pelosi, et. al.
Massachusetts will go red if BHO is the nominee. Tell the DNC that one!
The Repubs staged this whole thing to divide Dems. Where did they find this Barko creep. He gives ya the chills alright. More like the creeps.

I have been a Poll watcher in Florida..everything depends on state laws..in 2004 we had our first early vote..when they put the law through they forgot to have limits on where campaigning could take place..in the general it was 100 feet from the front door of the polling place but that ealy vote there were no rules!!
That has since been changed and limits have been put into law..

I worked for Edwards in Iowa and SC in the Iowa caucus all kinds of rules were broken by Obama folks..and in SC we were kept 200 ft from the front door of the polling place..

like i said it depends on state voting laws..but i would think if there is a limit of how far campaigning needs to be from the front door of the polling place..those lady’s have no damn right to be inside ..unless they are trained poll watchers ( and there are different names for it in different states) there to assure all voters can vote with no problems, or to find a solution to every voter having the right to vote.

They should be cleared by the supervisor of Elections to be an official poll watcher..they can be called upon by any candidate in my state to work as poll watchers..

but each state has different laws..

But i live in two states now..and have lived in 9 states in the nation and i have never seen where in any state that campaign slogans or anything that eludes to a campaign is allowed into a polling place.

But no cheating by the Obama camp or the DNC in their cheating regard seems to matter a damn bit..it didn’t matter a damn bit to the DNC when many of us volunteers for Edwards called in our complaints in the Iowa Caucus’s..we just got the cold shoulder..

Oh and I was a official Co-Captain of a caucus for Edwards in Iowa..

The Obamacheats..that what they all are…and they make me vomit..i said after working in Iowa ..i would die before i ever vote for that Fing cheater!

Obamatics. Look at it this way – they must be terrified of losing.

All anyone has to do in these situations is tell them to take it down. This sort of thing has been known to happen for almost every candidate every year we have an election in marion county.

I live here and am heavily involved in the politics here as well. I can say that you guys are full of garbage regarding Obama in Indiana. If anyone has been lying, its has been Clinton. I have had multiple mailers from her claiming positions that directly contradict her history. In fact, the “senator from Punjab” (look it up) has run a really vicious campaign in this state.

As to the gas tax garbage, it won’t pass federally, and its clearly a pander. We cut our state gas tax, and it amounted to very little in actual decrease. Meanwhile, the station owners pocketed the difference.

The election is over. She lost. Even so, why should I trust her to run in the general election since she keeps embracing john mccain’s ideas? Besides abortion, I don’t see her picking supreme court justices that are progressive. Flag burning amendment anyone? Kyl-lieberman act allowing GWB to have a free hand in Iran?

As to the florida Ad buy that Obama made, it was a NATIONAL cable buy, and he could not have florida eliminated. He then got PERMISSION from the DNC to run it. I’m sorry this runs contrary to your narrative, but that is the fact.

Comment by flyarm | 2008-05-06 13:54:31

well those lades should not be inside unless they are approved to be inside by the supervisor of elections!!..its not just the signs..they themselves should not be allowed in unless they are voting..or approved to be poll watchers..or the media for exit polling reasons and approved by state law..

in my state it would be considered intimidation!

No, dude, you are obviously wrong. Hillary’s campaign has never, ever made a mistake, even one as small as having one stupid sign in the wrong place.

As a result of this one sign, both the entire election and Obama are completely corrupt and therefore the DNC has no choice at all but to turn the entire election over to Hillary.

Thats how it has to be because her campaign has never ever made even the tiniest mistake and Obama is the antichrist.

I mean really, if someone who worked for his campaign put a sign in the wrong place, it isn’t as simple as taking the sign down. Clearly this shows he is willing to nuke other countries and will run the economy [even more] into the ground.

This is the type of thing Hitler would do. Obama is Hitler. But with a nicer haircut.

Comment by Sue | 2008-05-06 14:12:04

I hate to disagree with you but it most likely is illegal. While there are states (MO is one of them) that allows each party to have attorneys as election monitors to make certain that people can vote (usually there are problems because people are at the wrong polling place or they haven’t brought ID or somethng of that nature) but this sign (at least in Mo) is illegal. If I saw it, a call to the election bureau and the Secretary of State’s office and the AG’s office would be in order.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-06 15:13:19

Luther:

I bought gas today using discount from a grocery store. People are flocking to buy groceries from a store that understands how expensive a gallon of gas is, are they pandering? Ford motor company is offering 750 gallons of gas a year for the next three years to new car buyers at an unbelievable low rate, are they “pandering?”

Why is it that when someone in public office sees an opportunity to help the people who cast ballots it’s pandering? Senator Obama says we’re bitter and cling to our guns. Senator Clinton tries to do something for us. I’d rather vote for the person who tries to DO SOMETHING for me than the person who TALKS DOWN ABOUT ME, but hey, that’s just me?

Comment by Hoosiergal | 2008-05-06 15:28:06

Well I live here in Indiana too and I say you are full of shit Luther. Obama has filled my mailbox every day with a bunch of cheap propaganda and negative claims against Hillary Clinton. I just watched the video three times again. It all looks OK by what I remember from OH law. And sounds like from a previous post IN is the same as OH on how far away you must be to campaign.

The Obama girls are not 50 feet from a voting booth, which you can see on the background where the Obama table is, unless there are depth perception issues with the video. The Obama girls are right before where the voters have to sign in. You can see a voter walk in and go to the table to sign in.

The Obama folks are clearly in the room with the poll workers and judges. That is troubling in and of itself. And again, on the tape it looks much closer than 50 feet. When I worked OH we were trained that is was 50 feet from the ENTIRE VOTING ROOM. No one could be in the room but voters and judges.

The one Obama girl in tan slacks, toward the end of the video, is actually over talking to a woman who looks like she has signed in (they are past the sign in table) and is waiting for a booth to vote. Even just the appearance of an Obama volunteer talking with a voter as they prepare to vote – NOW THAT IS CLEARLY A VIOLATION.

Comment by workingclass artist | 2008-05-06 17:37:34

Email the Gov. office back with a link to this site or the source listed on the video, so they can view the video…..They may recognize it…being locals and all….

Comment by HillGirl | 2008-05-06 14:27:19

I do not believe that it is legal for even a minute. There is no way that it can be called “voter’s assistance” by an actual campaign. That is ridiculous and horseshit!

Comment by bert | 2008-05-06 18:49:15

That is correct. If voters need assistance the trained and paid poll workers were to assist. When I was precinct captain one D and one R helped so that both sides knew no hanky-panky was taking place.

Comment by john b | 2008-05-06 14:27:53

It is not legal. The 50 foot rule is about the building itself, no campaign literature within 50 ft of building entrance. Inside the polling room, zero campaigning, literature, etc.

Comment by troy m | 2008-05-06 14:30:06

I, personally, agree. It is beyond me how this could be legal, and i explained to the guy, that it was inside the polling place. Hopefully th Governor’s office will clarify and act.

Comment by Poor White | 2008-05-06 14:32:30

The location seems to be a African American locality as most people there are African Americans. I think the government should disqualify the votes from that booth.

Comment by Nick Kelly | 2008-05-06 14:40:49

This ties in perfectly with Obama saying that he wants votes “desperately”. The link to that is in my short diary at:

Comment by Jeff | 2008-05-06 14:43:12

“I think the government should disqualify the votes from that booth.”

It’s interesting to see that your commitment to “enfranchising” Florida and Michigan doesn’t extend to the voters of that precinct.

Now, why exactly should their votes be disqualified, in your view? Because rules were broken? Hmmm, that sounds so familiar…

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-06 14:51:39

Two different situations, help yourself and do the work, and the attendant thinking to figure out why.

Astroturf thinking is not your friend, but it does explain the republican troll.

Unfortunately, it also explains the republican policy makers, and their thinking…

heh.

possibly because laws (not rules) might have been broken, and broken by the campaign, voters and poll judges, not by Republican state government.

“possibly because laws (not rules) might have been broken, and broken by the campaign, voters and poll judges, not by Republican state government.”

Excellent point. And no “law” protects the franchise of Florida and Michigan Democrats to participate in nominating their party’s candidate this year. Certainly no “rule” does either.

If Obama isn’t “gaming the system” then why is it that all of the Obamabrat’s heads seem to explode when anyone (media or otherwise) mentions Michigan or Florida. Me thinks thou protesteth too much…

How does locking caucus members (Texas) out of caucus locations work for you? As for me, and anyone else with sound mind…it’s quite obviously ILLEGAL. Perhaps that’s why the police were involved. Perhaps that’s why you and your candidate don’t scream and whine about how Obama won Texas. It’s a rather LARGE state, isn’t it? Isn’t that what he needs? Yet nobody at Team Obama DARES mention a “victory” in Texas. “Above the fray…” doesn’t quite work as well as it used to, does it? Comment by barbh | 2008-05-06 14:48:32

I just voted about an hour ago here in NC. There was an AA man ahead of me trying to vote and an AA man and woman behind me. The man ahead of me gave an address that wasn’t even in the ZIP CODE of my precinct, poll worker sent him over to another area they had set up for either provisionals or to find out where his correct precinct was. The whole time the elderly poll worker was trying to explain to the man what he needed to do, the man behind me was loudly critical of the whole process and indignant. When it came my turn the lady said, as she was saying to everyone how are you today? The man behind me said in the nastiest most sarcastic mimicking way “how are you today, fine thank you”. I came so close to telling him how rude I thought he was. Don’t know if he was a supporter of BO, but given the kind of behavior I have experienced on line, it wouldn’t surprise me. I have voted at the same polling place for years and have never seen this kind of behavior from anyone before, nor have I ever seen anyone be at the wrong polling place.

My son who voted 30 minutes after me had a similar experience with an AA woman in front of the line with him, she hadn’t changed her address when she moved into this area so she wasnt in the books (how the heck did she even know to come to that poll? Asked her neighbor I guess). The lady told her she would have to go back to her old precinct and vote or she could vote provisional and she went off on the poll worker and made a comment after my son went through, you let him go through because he was white! and my son rolled his eyes and the AA woman went off on him!!! “don’t you roll your eyes at me…”!!!

What is wrong with these people? Being AA doesn’t entitle them to different rules from whites.

There was also an Obama person right at the entrance door, my son told the poll workers and they told him he would have to move the legal distance away….

I’m really dismayed by the attitude of some of these people. Surely they know the rules, the rules apply to everyone. If it was so important for them to vote, why didn’t they put a change of address in?

It’s always been fun going to vote, nice poll workers, nice people in line, even people I suspected were repubs, everyone got along. If this is more of the “unity” BO proclaims leave me out!!

It was without a doubt the weirdest experience I have ever encountered voting. It’s pretty disheartening to me.

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-06 14:57:46

I pushed the limits last time I went to vote, which was earlier this year. I wore a sweatshirt that has a picture of what looks like a newspaper front page. It says “CRAWFORD DAILY NEWS” at the top, and then “Drunken frat-boy drives country into ditch,” and there a picture of a young GW at Yale in 1965, and a separate picture of a truck being pulled out of a ditch.

This is a small, conservative town, and they thought it was funny and just sniggered. Things sure have changed in the last seven years!

Everybody quit complaining. Kevin, Jeff and Luther (and surely Jason and BRob will show up soon to agree with them) say this activity is perfectly acceptable. Move along, nothing to see here. Nothing at all illegal going on. You must remember that this election is being conducted under Obama rules so the section from the Indiana Code prohibiting such activity, cited above by Joe, has probably been suspended, allowing all Obamabots to campaign within polling places and to accost voters at will.

Surely the Obamabots wouldn’t lie. They’re full of koolaid. It’s what Obamabots crave. It’s got electrolytes.

I don’t think it’s appropriate. I don’t. It shouldn’t happen, and it should be stopped if it does. If they’ve broken a law, they should get the appropriate punishment.

That said, you guys blow these things so far out of proportion, one can’t help but make fun of you for it. You act like Clinton voters were beaten to death over the head with that stupid sign.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-06 15:57:12

We are so tired of hopey changey song and fucking dance of the sweetness and light for Obama while his campaign workers are the sleaziest and cheat and do ANYTHING to win. It gets stuck in people’s craw. This is where we get it out because the MSM doesn’t give a shit. Is there anything Obama or anyone connected to his campaign could do that Jeff, Kevin, Luther, Jason and BRob (may I call you JKLJB since you all seem to type from the same memo?) wouldn’t characterize as just a simple misunderstanding, not harmful at all?

Ayers — just a casual acquaintance, hardly knows the guy — just happened to be out wandering around one morning looking for a nice place to announce candidacy — didn’t even know Ayers owned that house.

Wright — hey, he just said he attended for 20 years — he didn’t say he was awake and listening.

Alice Palmer — what he did was perfectly legal — and he even let Alice keep the knife in her back as a souvenir of His Wonderfulness — what a guy!

Obama campaign workers putting up table and campaign sign and accosting voters inside polling place — quit whining Hillary supporters — if we Obamabots can’t cheat, we can’t win (and probably won’t anyway).

Comment by Jason | 2008-05-06 16:18:06

Nope – never said it was acceptable. I said if its illegal, take the sign down and apply the appropriate fine.

Remember, we are not the unreasonable ones. You have 4 or 5 rational Obama supporters here. You are the hysterical, name calling ones.

But thats ok, this is your place, so you can call us names (”stupid piece of excrement” – nice one).

I know this is hard for you but realize:

You are the ones accusing Obama of being racist but then bashing African Americans.

You are the ones who freak out at the slightest perceived misogynist slight but then slam Michelle Obama in both a racist and misogynist manner.

You are the ones who scream no voter disenfranchisement but then in the same sentence call for the votes here not to count.

You are the ones who call Obama both a Republican and too far to the left.

You are the ones who purport to be democrats but will not support the democratic candidate.

For the most part, you people don’t make any sense at all.

Which is why we are here. You are amusing.

Resume performing for my amusement.

What is wrong with you?

Comment by barbh | 2008-05-06 16:28:58

You don’t know what the f**K you are talking about the BOE had a place set up to help people that weren’t on the books at my polling place in NC. That is the way it should be done nonpartisan. If you read my comments above, the people were still pissed and assuming somehow because they were AA, that they were being denied. You do have to change your address when you move or vote in your old precinct and despite being told that, the AA voters were extremely rude to elderly, volunteer workers, no need at all for rudeness. Of course rudeness just seems to go hand in hand with the BO campaign. Every single time I think I MIGHT be able to vote for him in the GE, I experience more rudeness by the BO supporters either in person or on line. I’m just about sick of it.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-06 16:34:44

BHO’s campaign spent too much time making sure that the college kids were registered and not enough of the grass roots Democratic push to make sure that the traditional voters had outreach.

My mother’s senior citizen’s home is always hit by the Republicans making sure that the old ladies have current information. And they get there and get them to the polls. One year it was a polling place. And people wonder Bush did so well.

Most people who are told they are in the wrong place go to the correct place or cast a provisional ballot. That makes sense if it is properly explained.

Comment by Jeff | 2008-05-06 16:45:59

“My mother’s senior citizen’s home is always hit by the Republicans making sure that the old ladies have current information. And they get there and get them to the polls.”

Every area is different. When I grew up in Kentucky my Dad would stop by the local Democratic Party on election day and be given a list of all the seniors who wanted rides to the polls. And he and I would drive around and pick them up all day long, taking them to the polls, and then back home.

Comment by john b | 2008-05-06 16:29:24

There are questions to be asked. The sign was printed, not handwritten. It had the Obama logo printed on it. Was there only one sign printed? Unlikely. The Obama campaigner breaking the law had somehow procured a table and chairs. Questions to ask:
Obama, did your campaign print those signs? If not, who did?
What did you instruct workers to do today with those signs?
Did someone get the name of the campaigner? We have her id on video.
Obama campaigner, where did you get the signs? Were you instructed by the campaign to set up INSIDE the polling place? How did you get a table and chairs? Under whose authority? Did you speak with election officials and what were their names?
Officials, who provided the table and chairs? Who spoke with Obama campaigner?
Anyone who has ever worked polls in any capacity knows that this is utterly outrageous and illegal. Campaigning and campaign literature are limited to 50 ft away from the outside entrance of the building. No one is allowed inside the polling room other than registered voters and officials. No one.
With or without campaign literature. That a formal official table was set up, and that voters were spoken to under the guise of “helping them” is a willful violation of the law.

Comment by Jason | 2008-05-06 16:49:43

Delurking, once again.
I noticed that the two ladies, (or was it three) were all middle aged or older. I suspect that they have no idea that they could be breaking the law. I suspect that they have no idea what the law is relating to elections.
It begs the question, who put them there, and why was there no explanation as to the consequences of what they were doing.
Are these campaign people so heartless that they would put these ladies into a potential legal maelstrom? That is, in my book, despicable.

Wow, there is a lot of hatred brewing on this site. I’m kinda glad I found it.

But seriously, folks, I know you love your candidate, Hillary Clinton. I know you think she’s what’s best for the country. I know you think she is a superior candidate to Barack Obama.

But why all the hate and anger? i have seen Hillary do some questionable things throughout the course of this campaign. It doesn’t mean I hate her, it doesn’t mean I wish her ill. It doesn’t mean she’s Satan or evil or an idiot. It means she is a politician trying to win a very tight election, right?

Now, apply this same logic to Barack Obama. Did some of the hate and anger subside? Can’t we have civilized debate about our candidates without reverting to Crossfire idiots regurgitating talking points and throwing vindictive accusations around?

Does anybody know which polling place this happened?

During the election, as a volunteer in Charlotte, we were told to do “visibility” near the polling place, and told us to be away from the polling place at least 6o feet. The video you’re showing was another style of “visibility,” inside the polling place? Wow! It seems it’s legal there, then Hillary supporters should have a table of their own, too.

Obama supporters will do anything for their idol to win. Look, Gayle King, the friend of Oprah even robo-called me to vote for BO. It’s just like Oprah calling me. Sad to say, they win big margin.

I think we need to be aggressive if we want Hillary to win. Being nicey- nicey is nice but it will not translate to votes.

It’s incredibly painful that our hardship wasn’t enough. Thanks for volunteers outside of Charlotte who came to help us. I’m still in shocked …..

I also heard in parts of Indianapolis, and you guess the parts, they were not requiring ID which is a state law.
