Party Cracking Up? And Do You Even Care?

[COMMENTS ARE CLOSED - PLEASE USE ABOVE THREADS FOR MORE COMMENTS.]

Marc Ambinder writes that the polling results show the Democratic party with deep fissures. Right now, I’m so disgusted with the party that I don’t give a damn if it goes down in flames.

These primary voters may get some SELF-satisfaction out of voting for Barack Obama because it makes THEM feel good, but they are not THINKING AHEAD to the general election — when John McCain will easily trounce Obama if he’s the general election nominee.

Here’s what Ambinder wrote:

Forget the horse race numbers for a moment: if the surveys are accurate, the polarization within the Democratic Party has reached critical levels. Nearly six in ten Obama supporters in Indiana say they would be dissatisfied if Clinton were the nominee — that’s (I believe) the high percentage of Obama supporters who have ever said that.

In both IN and NC, two thirds of Clinton supporters say they’d be dissatisfied if Obama were the nominee — I believe that’s the highest number recorded for that question, too.

The percentage of Clinton voters who say they’d choose McCain over Obama in a general election is approaching 40% in Indiana. Put it another way: in North Carolina, less than HALF of folks who voted today for Hillary Clinton are ready to say today that they’d definitely vote for Obama in a general election.

The basic demographic breakdowns suggest that the black/white split has widened as well …

Frankly, my dears, I don’t give a damn. If the primary voters can’t think far enough ahead to anticipate who has the best chance of beating John McCain, they deserve their fate.

I am disgusted.

I hope Hillary keeps fighting with all she’s got. She — and we — know that she is the only candidate who has a realistic chance of beating John McCain.

REASON ONE: She is vastly stronger on national security issues than Obama, who has ZERO national security experience or knowledge.

REASON TWO: She knows what to do about our economic crisis, and Obama doesn’t even understand the capital gains tax — illustrated in that last ABC debate when Charlie Gibson had to explain it to him.

REASON THREE: She has ten times the stamina that Obama has. He has looked worn out, bored, distracted, and his mind isn’t working sharply. She is sharper than ever, and energized.

(I could add a dozen more reasons — and so can you, so please do so in the comments.)

God I wish people would stop voting for someone just because he has a skin color they like, or it assuages their white guilt, and use some COMMON SENSE.

I am so disgusted. 90% of African Americans voted for him and we’re to believe there is nothing racial going on here. He has lost the male white vote over the past month. If she had been able to get 15-20%of the the AA vote she would have won NC. We’re electing Capt. Smith for the Democratic Titanic

This is the Democratic plan for fighting LT McCain USN.

Banzi Obama!

Comment by SusanUnPC | 2008-05-06 19:24:55

But, always, the ONUS is on the white voter. If we white voters don’t vote for the black, WE are the racists. However, if 90% of blacks vote for Obama primarily because he’s black, that’s cool. Someone explain the logic in this to me.

Comment by Salo | 2008-05-06 19:27:39

He’ll clean up in Oregon and Montana and the press will try to paper it over.

Then McCain wins.

Comment by Bob Sakowski | 2008-05-06 20:10:22

Not only will McStain win but The One will take down many democrats below him on the ticket.

Forget about a veto proof congress.

The question is, “Will this split be the beginning of the end of the Democratic Party?”

Comment by hillfaninOR | 2008-05-06 21:08:55

As far as I’m concerned it is. I am a typical 65 yr white woman and a life long Democrat but I will be re-registering as an Independent. I will never contribute another dime to the DNC. These idiots do not understand what it will take to win the white house, control the congress and restore our economy and rebuild our national pride. What a bunch of losers!!

Comment by eriezindian | 2008-05-06 22:00:05

Ditto for this 60 yr old, life-long Democrat. We have been waiting for another FDR and we may have let her slip thru our fingers because the Washington elite has chosen an inexperienced novice for the candidate. RIP, Democratic Party.

Comment by helen | 2008-05-06 22:51:38

I am a 69 year old white woman who has been a democrat since 1960. I worked the polls and worked for the Democratic party. I will soon be and independent if the Democratic party shoves Obama down my throat. I have never been racist in my life but today part of the party that I worked for calls me racist. Claims they don’t need my vote or my work for the party. They can go to hell I will never vote for Obama.

Comment by esther | 2008-05-06 22:58:49

I’m with you! I’m a lifelong Dem, and I know that if they do this thing–the leadership strongarming delegates and shilling for Obama (I just threw up a little in my mouth typing his name), ignoring a real chance to win with overwhelming support of women, rural voters and Reagan Dems, and disfranchising 2 states with his help–then it deserves to go down in flames. I, for one, am one of the 28% who will defect. If Hillary no, McCain, hello.

Comment by HillGirl | 2008-05-06 23:00:19

I think people really need to educate themselves on what the word racist really means. It is certainly an energy charged, loaded word.
It doesn’t mean because you disagree with someone or because you don’t like someone who happens to be of another color.
We all have prejudices, preferences over ideals, etc. That doesn’t make a person a racist.
I am sick of that word. I haven’t ever heard it so much in so many ways and so out of context.
I would have told them to go to hell, too.

RACISM IS NOT JUST A CRACKER HOBBY…..
as confirmed by the Obama campaign…..

Funny I live in the county where the Crackers ruled Georgia (and ironically where a rare Republican literally went into fisticuffs to bring down, as the Dixiecrats weren’t going to do it). Guess which candidate these Dems are endorsing?

Obama.

Doesn’t matter what color the candidate is, if the voter base knows how to exploit racism (a very sore subject here), they will do so for zero gains (as also demostrated by productivity in the region).

There is no reasonable explanation for it Susan. It is the elitist’s belief that black people cannot ever be racists because of the slavery past and because of their minority status in the population. And those elites are also the same Washington establishment Democrats that are supporting Barack Obama. They have hijacked our party.

Comment by SusanUnPC | 2008-05-06 20:26:06

“It is the elitist’s belief that black people cannot ever be racists because of the slavery past and because of their minority status in the population”

It is the height of ignorance, really. Elitists are ignorant! And they’ll never know it.

Racism permeates every race, every country on earth. It is NOT exclusive to white people, for chrissakes. Japanese hate the Chinese, the Chinese hate Vietnamese, and on and on. Look at the racial / religious fighting in India, and on and on.

The best we can do is try to be rational. If someone like MICHAEL NUTTER were running for president, I’d support him in a heartbeat! He needs more experience in elected office but I’d wholeheartedly support him when his time comes. He has character, and he has a work ethic. He isn’t a marketing genius’s made-up presidential candidate. He’s the real deal.

Comment by Nellie | 2008-05-06 21:46:26

You know Susan, not only do I not care what happens to the Democratic Party at this point, I am now inured against the constant racist B/S.

I KNOW I have done much more that most of the DC idiots over the last 40 years to push the reality of MLK’s dream.

These stupid ignorant children throwing tantrums every time they do not get their own way leaves me totally disgusted and I have had it with that.

They can only put the ONUS on us, if we are willing to accept it. Let’s stop reacting to their idiocy.

Comment by Clinton Fan | 2008-05-06 22:33:10

I have to agree with you there. If the party doesn’t let this election roll and count EVERY frigging vote, I’m registering as an independent and the DNC can forgot about my shitty little couple hundred bucks that I shell out every Presidential election cycle. If there are others out there like me, those little checks might add up.

Maybe some pragmatic bastards with deep pockets will start up a third party for people like us–guilt free, pander free, focused on issues, and uninterested in nominating poster children who will get their clocks cleaned in the general. I suspect we’d be a majority in this nation in no time.

Comment by Valerie | 2008-05-06 23:15:21

I may be off-base, but in Hillarys interview by Joe S on his show yesterday morning, the question of the Gas Tax came up, and of course Hillary explained it brilliantly. I cannot remember all the dialog but Joe said he agreed with Hillary’s reasoning because it was not democrat. Hillary said something to the effect that this is where the dems have made a big mistake, for so many years - not adressing the concerns of the working person.

I know she and Bill have been essentially part of the core of the democratic party, but I just wonder if they would entertain the notion of a party change? A NEW party…. Basically having many of the ideals of the democrats, but then combine some of the practicalities of the Repubs… I know, I know shame on me for even considering… But SOME repubs aren’t too bad. Even Hillary seems to think so! The democrats have all but turned their backs on Hillary and I for one am fed up with all the stupidity going on. I say if they want Obama, then they DESERVE him! I for one won’t be around. Count me in for a new party!

Racism is racism — Mrs. Obama is overtly racist.

Voting for someone by 90% is racism.

The Black Panter/Black power movement never went away. And this was an extremely racist movement. They started working with the young kids and taught them racism — in your face whitey racism. I watched it happen in the SF Bay Area. It was probably happening in other urban centers — I was merely at one place where I was able to see the racism being nurtured and fed by hatred.

This 90% vote is very disturbing. A whole lot of poor people have been hoodwinked and bamboozled by a guy who looks black. But Obama is really more interested in the color of money — and who has the money. Even in Hawaii he was more interested in wealth — and going to the “best” high school.

But hey — 10% of the voters were NOT fooled. The same percentage of people who were never fooled by bush — post 9/11.

Defeat?!!! Oh puleeze. Cant the twits stop mimicking what the experts (with no experience in natl politics themselves) on the cable news shows say?

Bill Schneider - one of the dumbest political “analyst” guys Ive ever met by the way - says that NC was good for Obama because he got 1/3 of the white vote.

Think about that for a minute and remember we are talking about red state DEMOCRATS here….

Lord.

April 10th Obama himself said that since PA was strong for Hillary and NC was strong for Obama - it would be Indiana that would be the TIEBREAKER… Remember he had been leading in the polls there since Feb5… This was another bad loss for Obama.

Now…will Obama do the honorable thing and withdraw - for the Good of the Party or is he gonna continue to divide this Party - and make us play this out till the inevitable end? (which will mean seating FL and MI btw)

Hmmm…

remember,

No one said fighting the Dashle/Kennedy K street crew and the nations “yuppies” - 100% of the entire media - dim witted college kids and a resent filled and ungrateful AA community - all at once would be easy.

Comment by alexei | 2008-05-06 19:23:15

I am disgusted at the monolithic black vote (91% to 93%). This isn’t just identity politics, it is racism - they know he can’t win in the GE, they know that the Clintons are not racist and still they rally around a man who is only half black and has completely ignored them. As others have said, if whites had such a stark monolithic vote, there would be many more calling out racism (they already do but it would be even worse). I don’t care about the Democratic Party either if they cave to the intimidation from the blacks talking about riots if Obama is not given the nomination.

Shame on Barack Obama for dividing the Party and the Country. He has single handedly put race relations back generations.

Comment by AF catfish | 2008-05-06 19:28:29

On TalkLeft, one AA Hillary-supporting commenter said the media and even Wright thrashing Obama kind of made her feel for Obama for the first time. She thinks it made the AA really rally around him this time.

Heck even I thought Wright was being an ass to Obama.

Comment by alexei | 2008-05-06 20:17:03

That was another set up to keep the AAs in line and if you and the AA Hillary supporter are evidence, it worked! He can’t win and he has divided the Country on race. That will be his legacy as well as a historic loss in the GE if the Dems are stupid enough to give him the nomination.

Comment by sjc-tx | 2008-05-06 21:33:59

This is what I said back then… This ranting by Wright was a calculated ploy by obama and campaign to do JUST THAT! The timing was just TOO coincidental.

This is what pisses me off: of voters who were concerned about the economy, 65% went for Clinton. Older voters went 70% for Clinton. But if Obama doesn’t get it “all those young voters will be so disappointed. They are so hopeful and we don’t want to break their hearts.”

Note to our collective selves: in future elections, remember that mobilizing the young vote means to mobilize the rich, bratty young vote. Not worth it.

Also, Donna Brazile said on CNN tonight that the Democratic Party is changing and “we” don’t need the votes of working class people anymore. She stated the Party is younger and more educated and that is the New Democratic Party.

It will be on You Tube soon I’m sure. It was a radical statement.

It seems to be not only a racial divide but generational and class based on as well.

Obama is getting the young white college educated professionals by the shit load. Gen X’ers and Y’ers.
These are well off and economically isolated from the realities that most middle and working class people face daily. Basically they live in La-La land and fall for the tony robbins spiel of Barry.

He’s getting the no-nothing college snot goblin vote. Like the white collars these kids are economically and socially isolated as hell not to mention major bongers and drunkards. They no more know whats going on in the country than those cultists in Texas do.

What he’s not getting working class whites or most older whites as well and a lot of hispanics as well. The people who are the backbone of this country. Who become the firemen, nurses, soldiers, police, the factory workers, and the folks who stock our supermarkets, etc.

OK Fine….I’ll stay long enough to proove my IRRELEVANCE with my vote and then start packin for living overseas…..Clinton is continuing to campaign and I admire that……But if Obama gets the nod…..He will unravel by early September…..What a Joke…..

I’ll work for writing in Hill. But she’s going to win Indiana, he’s going to win NC, so we’re basically back to where we were, and we fight on.

And, on that note, I bid you all a fond adieu!

Please don’t think about the fate of our nation if Obama or McCain become president. It is, by far, way too depressing.
When I heard McCain’s speech on healthcare and that “those people” should give up cigarettes to stay healthy. I thought Huh? Did I miss a part of the speech or something?
With Obama, everything —- will—- take—- a —-long—-time—–to—-do because he will have to think about every, single, thing very, very, very slowly.
We need someone who is already up on what is going down! Hillary was awesome with O’Reilly. She is the kind of person we need as President.
I saw the early exit polls showing Obama “the projected winner” in NC with 30,000 votes counted. Yet, Fox says that nearly 500,000 voted early. What is up with that????

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-06 19:42:12

Both their plans will leave too many uninsured and when that happens, the costs just keep rising for health insurance. Somebody has to pay for it.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-07 06:07:48

With idiots like Kerry saying Hillary’s plan was a nonstarter, we will have a lot of work to do. Identifying each of everyone of the “washington politics as usual” as boy Obama likes to say and making sure that they all walk the plank if there is any expectation that universal health care has a chance.

Comment by helen | 2008-05-07 02:14:51

It will take a long time because he will only work a 2 day week with a week vacation every month. Remember when he was in Chicago he only had to work 55 days a year out of 77 days.
He might be visiting Ayers telling him where to plant the bombs this time. He will be going to church to hear how the white people hurt him even his grandmother who raised him.
GOD HELP THIS COUNTRY IF HE GETS IN OFFICE.

If MI and FL are not brought into the national picture immediately and their votes counted, and if Obama is the Democratic nominee, I will not vote for president in November. If MI and FL are returned to the national picture immediately and their votes counted, then I will vote for the Democratic nominee whomever it is.

Dean is running out of time. And the Democratic loss in the November election will rest entirely on his shoulders.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-06 19:43:06

Fox said today that Hillary is forcing a Rules Challenge this month. SHe’s not waiting for them to shanghai her in June. She wins it or she loses it.

Good for her, and she’s right.

Comment by bwana | 2008-05-06 21:51:49

to shanghai her??

what in the world are you talking about?

he out-organized. out-strategized and out-raised her. he’s won more states, more caucuses, more votes, and more pledged delegates. since the beginning of the year, he’s garnered more supers.

how in the world does this constitute ’stealing’?

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-05-06 23:05:24

I really love that “won more states” argument. In what universe does that mean anything?

He has no plans, no policies but for those stolen from someone else, his charisma seems to be deserting him with every demographic except AAs and the ivory tower bunch and is surrounded by a bunch of thugs and crooks that makes Nixon’s group look positively cuddly. But still Dean and the media try to shove him in as the nominee despite the fact that most of his wins have come in states that will never go Dem in the fall and that a good portion of usually dependable Dem voters have vowed never to vote for him.

It is lunacy.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-07 06:09:47

When Obama loses in November many will blame Hillary. But in the aftermath the Democratic Party will, to use your term, ‘crack up.’ And I will be waiting in the wings to help start and build a new Party, and make sure Dean and Co. does not run it; and that a new colation be built around the old FDR coaltion. And I will just pray that Hillary is not so damaged by all the crap that has been thrown at her by this dirty old style Chicago machine smack down that she can run again in 2012.

However, I have not lost all hope yet because of NC. She can still pull defeat out of this travesty we are calling the Democratic Party. I hope she does not drop out no matter how many people call for it.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-06 20:30:09

Who cares if he blames her. He blamed her or somebody for everything else that ever went wrong for him.

Four years of McCain. Obama marginalized. Hillary shall return. It’s what we do.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-05-06 21:23:51

Right. Obama may have aged severely, but by the time this thing is over, Hillary will look like she’s sixteen again. She may have to show ID, but she can definitely run again.

I’m with you, Bert. I wish the Clintons were not so loyal to the Democratic Party and would lead a third party effort. I’m sick of Dean, Pelosi, Kerry and T. Kennedy year after year, election after election, just rolling over for the republicans.

Comment by Judith | 2008-05-06 22:08:09

I hope he will be marginalized…just like John Kerry. There’s been some talk about the huge database that Obama has amassed and how powerful he will be. I stayed with Kerry’s contacts…until he endorsed Obama, then I had my name taken off his mailing list. I hope both Clintons continue to be powerhouses, if she does not win. I hope Obama fades into obscurity.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-07 06:14:29

His mailing list is the same as everyone elses. It’s like a big snow ball. It just adds up campaign to campaign.

If it has Rezko, Bill Ayers and Reverend Wright on it, you probably don’t want it.

Obama has never won a damn thing against an opposing candidate. John McCain will toast him. I was devastated to watch Kerry take punch after punch and stand there. I will really enjoy it this time. I am going to buy a ringside seat and enjoy every round.

Campbell Brown says hey Donna, all these months you’ve been on our panel as an undecided voter. You don’t sound so undecided. Brazille said not undecided, undeclared.

Definitely never for Obama.

Comment by Mr. Music | 2008-05-06 20:08:47

Why would you never vote for Obama?!!?! But you would vote for Nader?! That just makes no sense. Obama is more liberal than Clinton is - so if you like liberals (like Nader is) then why wouldn’t you support Obama? Seriously. That just makes no sense. A vote for Nader is only going to help John (four more years of George W. Bush’s failed policies) McCain win! That’s insane!

Do you really think more war and Republican appointed Supreme Court justices, and failed health care, and failed economy is a good thing? If not then you need to vote for Barack Obama in 2008.

I didn’t particularly care for John Kerry in 2004 but voting for him was an obvious decision just as voting for the Democratic nominee in 2008 is an obvious decision. You may not like Obama (for some reason? why? He’s run a very positive campaign when he could have gone very very negative against Clinton’s closet full of skeletons) but you must realize he’s very similar to Clinton on the biggest issues while McCain = Bush. I mean… This is a no-brainer.

Comment by Melissa | 2008-05-06 20:30:06

Why won’t I vote for Obama???
1. Wright and black liberation theology.
2. Rezko
3. Ayers
4. Auchi
5. Odinga
6. Voted for Bush-Cheney energy bill
7. No records from Il senate term
8. Didn’t run a dirty campaign- what are you smoking??? Have you seen the reports of the Texas caucus fraud??? From people who were there???
9. Votes present or hones in on other people’s work.
10. He can’t win the G.E. The 527’s are gonna cream him.

Hillary has well thought out plans, with numbers, she has experience, she is respected the world over, she has proven through her life’s work that she will fight for the poor and down-trodden. Hillary is about action, Obama is words.

Comment by Shainzona | 2008-05-06 21:10:17

A perfect 10, Melissa.

I would add an 11….Obama is NOT liberal. He’s not anything that I can tell, but he is definitely not a liberal.

And since he is no-where now where do you think he will end up after “coming together with Repugs” to change the way Washington works.

That’s correct…right of center.

Comment by bert | 2008-05-06 21:11:05

To add to Melissa’s list I why I won’t vote for Obama:

*Not able to win against McCain

*Inexpereinced

Not able to win against McCain

*Went negative and played the race card early and first - find that dispicable

*Not able to win against McCain

*Don’t like many of his advisors

*Not able to win against McCain

*Does not have a universal health care plan

*Not able to win against McCain

*Will keep Blackwater in military

*Not able to win against McCain

*Won’t get us out of Iraq

*Inexpereinced and not able to win against McCain

* Will bring Chicago corrupt politics to D.C.

*Inexpereinced and not able to win against McCain

How can you say he hasn’t run a negative campaign? It has been politics as usual from the man who says he’s not for the same old politics.

How about him trashing Bill Clinton’s record and praising Reagan? He wants to trash FDR’s legacy as well by privatizing Social Security.

Let him have his own coalition of young spoiled brats and brain dead liberals, I doubt he will go very far.

I say it is 3 strikes and the Dems are out. They bungled 2000, put that putz Kerry in 2004 and now ready to throw away the chance of winning on a green senator who thinks he can piss all over the base of the Democratic party and still win….

Why do you think that is?

All the bombs in the world, disable the weak minded political trash in Washington, and you can manipulate the cretins, and hence America, anyway you want.

Obama is never supposed to win anything. When he wins, it’s a huge victory. When he loses, well, Hillary was way ahead in that state in April 2007 so it was actually a win.

Anyway it doesnt matter because “the math doesnt favor Hillary… she’s trying to use the New Math…” I swear if I hear some version of that again I ‘m going to shoot my tv.

Obama’s racist campaign has blacks solidly separated.
And anybody who says this is a healthy sign for our party or our nation is delusional.
Obama needs to be called on his claim as “unifier.”
HE is the candidate who will do anything to win.

Then we have idiots like John Kerry, whose brain vessels have hardened to plaster, bitter about his own f*k ups, spewing divisive bile on MSNBC.

And Hillary Clinton is being vilified. And for what? Running a good campaign.

(Or not, but I doubt it. Even if he does take the high road, the republican troops have been so inculcated it will take a long time for it to change).

So, how do you enable the American voter to see through the crap, through the specious manipulations, both the AA voter, and his republican counterpart?

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-07 06:29:37

If Obama is the nominee, I won’t care, let them have a go at it, either one ends up like Bush, an administration that will have to be diapered.

But in the end, it hurts our country to politically game in this manner, those who think Rove is a genius are idiots.

“Big genius” still had to steal two elections, tell me, where is the intellect here, if in the end, despite his Amway garbage, he still had to muck with the vote totals, like Obama tried to in IN, yesterday? And Obama, given his IL performance, is already like Rove, and Bush, not able to achieve any permanent agenda, not able to do anyting but survive. They really are like Hamas, aren’t they?

And here we are this morning, and SLATE is saying Clinton is finished?

Yes, pookies, and whose payroll are you on? So nice to know your journalist model was TASS, the USSR was brought down on the backs of people like you.

What a joke, they’re stupid.

Btw, I would also castigate as moronic anyone voting for Eric Edleman, or Marc Grossman for President, Sybil Edmonds boys on tape.

All three engage in the same type activity, with the same group of people, and all three can do nothing more than survive.

Yesterday, Clinton got a look at Obama’s corruption in IN, so it’s a step forward for the American people, exposing the rat to daylight.

And they’re still so dumb, they engage.

We need to remember that we have a lot of valued AA friends who are for Hillary. However the large AA bias for Obama makes this electing a president all about race and not qualifications.

The Big Tent Democratic Party is now not counting FL and MI votes. In a Democracy this is untennable and some how people with Political Science majors should be able to figure this out. But they havent.

So - one must ask the question - what is the worth of a party that does not count all votes and a population that will not vote on merits

Might be better in the long run if it goes down.

Comment by Salo | 2008-05-06 20:10:10

Experience and paying dues seems to be an intrinsic value to some voters. Probably more critical than judgement or hope.

It’s quite likely that older democratic voters will look at McCain and Obama and compare biography and go for McCain.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-05-06 21:51:36

Especially a party that has historically fought for the vote … that is the part that makes me sick.

I came to this party for all of the humanitarian aspects of its platforms. All of what I guess we call the FDR programs. Making sure that the least among us got the same opportunity as those with the most. What I see in the Obama campaign is an “I’ve got mine” attitude. What did he ever do for his constiuents in Chicago, and in his larger block in Illinois? What has Barack ever done for anyone other than Barack?

Comment by Mr. Music | 2008-05-06 19:55:53

What makes you so sure that Obama will lose in November when the latest CBS/NY Times poll gives Obama a 11% lead over McCain right now even though Obama has just been through a very very rough time in the media and has yet to gain the nomination (officially) - He is sure to receive a huge boost when he becomes the Dem. nominee. Plus McCain has had to deal with absolutely no negative press yet! And too many voters who don’t pay attention think he’s still the McCain of 2000. Not enough voters realize (yet) that he is actually a replica of George W. Bush on the biggest issues. Do you really think America will vote for four more years of George W. Bush? This whole “fracture” of the Dem. party thing is way way way overplayed right now. It’s early. By November the party will be unified behind Barack Obama.

Comment by janet | 2008-05-06 19:59:23

Are you nuts!! You really think he will win big in November. Working class Dems are going to go Republican. Join the rest of the kool aid drinking left side of our party

Comment by Salo | 2008-05-06 20:03:24

He’ll win in the same manner that Dukakis won.

Comment by Mr. Music | 2008-05-06 20:11:10

Dukakis != Obama. First of all Dukakis was running after 8 years of Reagan. Remember how popular Reagan was in 1988? He was at least TWICE as popular as the current Republican president. HUGE DIFFERENCE. The comparisons to ‘88 are ridiculous for that reason alone. But then you must consider that Dukakis never had near the excitement level that Obama has. He’s bringing in tons of new voters who are very excited about voting. He could bring HUGE turnout among blacks and younger voters.

I really don’t think this will even be close. Obama will beat McCain in a landslide. Stop being so negative. This is the Democrats year.

Comment by Shainzona | 2008-05-06 20:32:22

Wrong - BO is driving as many people out as you claim he is bringing in - and you won’t open your eyes to that fact.

BO will lose - based on his demographics - and the number of Dems/former Dems who will never vote for him because we simply believe he is the worst choice.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-05-06 21:53:32

Yes, Mr. Music. He COULD do all those things. Pigs could also fly out his ass. I’d put the latter at a much higher probability than the former.

——–
One more reason.. Obama is an immoral person.

I don’t care what other attributes of God he covets, he let people freeze for 6 weeks in a Chicago winter with no hot water. If he did not know, as he claims, he is indifferent to suffering. Truth is, he did know, which is the case because of his relationship with Rezko. He had a hand in profiting from the misery of others. That sir, is evil, plain and simple. Go vote fer ‘em if you wish to, tis your right which I support. Just don’t complain to anyone when the Devil brings his fiddle and does an eternal damnation solo with your soul as the gut for his bow.

Why would working class whites go Republican? The Republican party is destroying this country. Do you remember the last 8 years? John McCain = Four More Years Of George W. Bush. That’s it. Case closed. McCain loses. The Democratic nomination = the real presidential election.

Comment by it'snotme | 2008-05-06 20:17:27

Does Racist Rev. Wright, Ayers, Rezko, and Auchi ring a bell? No one calls working class people bitter and racist and still get their vote.

Comment by Mr. Music | 2008-05-06 20:20:56

First of all Rev. Wright is not a racist. Second of all saying that working class people are bitter because of the economic situation in this country is absolutely true.

Why would working class people vote for more Republican economics when that has brought them so much pain!?

Why do you think that working class people are so dumb that they will vote on frivolous superficial issues instead of on the economy and health are? I have more faith in working class people than that. Barack Obama is obviously the working class candidate. He will have every labor endorsement and he will win white working class voters in November when they see that McCain means more of George W. Bush’s failed economic policies.

Comment by Pagan Power | 2008-05-06 20:27:58

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-07 06:47:21

But Mr Music, in his misguided attempt to cause chaos, can’t see the real strategy, and leaves himself unprotected.

It’s like gaming Kevin Federline.

Just ask the silly republicans, who can’t win the international war, too stupid to understand how they’re losing the domestic one.

Imagine an idiot like Rove going up against a Cambridge educated strategist, internationally. No American Tass to help out, Daley couldn’t survive once outside the Chicago borders.

Is law enforcement breathing down his neck? Does he live for the moment, where the election has to act as a drug, blotting the reality of what is closing in around him? Is this a weakness?

Comment by Salo | 2008-05-06 20:34:40

Wright is a racist.
He’s also a Phrenologist.

Obama may or may not share some of his views, but he certainly tolerated Wright for a long time.

Onto business with McCain. All McCain needs to do is peel away a few disaffected Clintonites and calibrate his message to be centrist and populist.

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-07 06:51:55

McCain is as crippled as Obama, what makes you think he won’t be gamed, and disarmed, like Bush?

Don’t be silly, it’s about far more than cheating your way to victory, what’s the long terms agenda?

It’s my impression Rove can’t see beyond the moment, which leaves him vulnerable.

Someone like Hannity may see him as smart, I guess a security blanket for insecure republicans, (yeah, Karl will get him) but in the big picture, Karl is weak.

Without Tass to pretend and assist Karl, he’s really nothing, now, isn’t he?

What’s that strategy, again?

By any chance are you working class????
Forget Unity and read the posts- We are NOT. EVER. VOTING. for that fraud!
I am an American, true blue, and I will NEVER vote for someone I believe to be as dangerous to our country as Hitler was to Germany.
Yes, I DID compare Obama to Hitler and I mena it. Have you heard him say “It’s in my D.N.A.”? Now just what do you suppose he means by that??? Obama is delusional and dangerous, too many years listening to Wright and Ayers, too dangerous for me.
I will willingly suffer another four years of Republicans to keep my country safe from the greater danger that is Obama.

Comment by alexei | 2008-05-06 20:40:36

No, in fact working class whites are the left on economic issues. The Dem Party has abandoned them and Hillary is resonating with them because she does get it and she listens and talks their issues. This is not about identity politics with them, it is all about trying to keep tread water and achieve economic stability.

The middle and working classes have been ignored and bashed by the elites of both Parties. They will vote for their economic interests and they don’t trust Obama, because he does ooze elitism and he has not spoken for them.

McCain sees this opportunity, and that was why he floated his gas tax holiday. Clinton took that issue away from him and the Repubs - she will do that every time. And what did the “leftist” (yes, that’s how the Repubs are painting them) Obama and Pelosi do?

Comment by alexei | 2008-05-06 20:42:34

Think about the planes flying into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon juxtaposed with Wright’s the Chickens come home to roost. This is devastating and this is the least of Obama’s problems.

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-06 20:54:59

Why do bother with this troll?

At a certain point someone loses all credibility, and they are simply ignored, kinda like MSNBC, or the rest of the main stream media.

They continue to focus on themselves, talk to themselves, but everyone else has moved on.

They miss it, creating their own bubble, and I wouldn’t want to get caught in it.

Wright is a racist and so is Obama. He sat in that church for 20 years and listened to that hate speech. He accepted it or he would have left the church. No one supports Louis Farrakhan if they’re not a racist.

Now I know where you’re coming from. Nothing else matters. Obama winning the nomination is all that matters to you. November means nothing. I hope you enjoy President McCain for at least 4 years because that’s who you will have elected if Mr. Hope does get the nomination.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-05-06 21:57:53

Obama, not McCain, equals four more years of George W. Bush — an inexperienced, basically lazy person who knows little on almost any issue and is content to let others run things while he takes a lot of naps and vacations. McCain would be a teensy (admittedly not much) bit better.

Hillary is the only candidate in the race who has the intelligence, tenacity and heart to bring this country out of the mess Bush has gotten it in. I repeat, Howard Dean should be ashamed to be seen in public because of this mess.

A very rough time? Lol! You call what Obama’s gone through a very rough time?

Lol!

You’re in for a major shock in the GE, Mr. Music. It’ll be Rezko, Ayers, Wright, Auchi and San Fran liberals 24/7, to say nothing of that 100% liberal rating.

My old cat will look like a better prospect come late October.

Comment by Mr. Music | 2008-05-06 20:12:46

Thrashbolos - those are all absolutely NON-issues! Americans are not going to be diverted this time around. McCain has one association that is more FAR more important than all of those stories combined - GEORGE W. BUSH.

Comment by Thrasyboulos | 2008-05-06 20:30:09

Whether John Kerry was within the Cambodian border at Christmas or not was also a non issue, but they swiftboated him nevertheless, and the media did it’s duty “reporting”.

Candidates do not have the ability to dictate issues to the media, or the the 527s echoed by the media.

Comment by Salo | 2008-05-06 20:39:27

Here is how they will do it.

1) Obama presents himself as post racial.

The truth is that Obama tolerated a church that was reveling in some very strange iseas about race

2) Obama Presents himself as uncorrupted.

Pin Chicago style politicking on Obama

3) Obama presents himself as centrist

Pin radical and militant activism on him from his youth and associations

McCain will trump Obama on experience, and patriotism. So Obama would have to attack those two points of McCain’s strength. How he does that I have no idea.

Just looking at Rove’s stupidity, he is no genius, folks, and then comparing him with, as I said, a Cambridge educated strategist, well, Karl is being played like a piccolo.

Sorry, as Americans, we have to stop being so provincial.

(In the rock world, groupies who gave blow j**s back stage were referred to as piccolo players.)

Making the media whom, Bebe Buell?

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-07 07:16:38

It’s very nasty, for a guy like Karl in part to wake up to the fact he got us into a war he can’t get us out of, losing control of his political system, because well, he never had control of his Amway like marketing.

As long as he can pretend, and the press feeds his fantasy, he’s OK. Kind of like Bush, and Fox News.

The minute reality crashed his lil gate, he could no longer function.

And do you think, say, the EU, or even Britain understands and uses Rove’s vulnerabilities against the greater US position?

No, of course not.

And the wars are going gangbusters, mission accomplished.

Really, the EU has no interest in undermining US economic and strategic position.

And then you wonder why I call these republican trolls flaming morons.

Rove can only barely survive, dependent upon an obsequious, moronic press, here in America, this makes him attractive to a predator. Given his obvious need for delusion, and his “strategic” system, such as it is, he’s easy to mislead, as he doesn’t understand the rationale behind the actions of others, toward him. Get Rove to make a decision he thinks is in the interest of “a republican majority” and you can cost the US economically, and strategically, for years, world wide.

Point: EU and oil consolidation.

The game is a little more complicated than smearing your opponent, or acting in collusion with John Rowe, or Rupert Murdoch.

And that’s before large numbers of Independents and Democrats that voted for Hillary Clinton vote for McCain.

I will not, would not, could not ever vote for McCain. But I know a lot of people that would and will if Obama is the nominee.

This primary has destroyed the Democratic Party IMO. The Republicans have tried to do that for generations and although they marginalized and minimised the party they never were able to quite complete the destruction. Fortunately for them they don’t have to do that now. The Obamacrats have destroyed the Democratic Party.

Unity require people working together towards a common goal. If that goal is putting Obama in the White House then there ain’t gonna be any unity in the Democratic Party in the foreseeable future. I don’t want unity with the Obama trolls that come here either. I loathe them more than any conservative troll. At least I always knew the conservatives were the enemy, Obama trolls try to pretend to be Democrats instead of Obamacrats and that dishonesty makes them anathema to me.

And Hillary won IN, right?

And NC isn’t that much a factor, no matter how desperate the troll spew, which is also hysterical, given how HARD those boys are working it, going around in a circle, without a CLUE.

So it looks pretty good, right?

And we can now better identify the factors that play into those who would skew elections, the minor clumsy ops of those who troll the American public?

Comment by Sj | 2008-05-06 20:01:05

We always new he was going to win NC, and the Obama camp projected that they were going to win IN, they did not. Now we have a split in the party and party loyalty will end in a GE if Obama is the nominee.

Maybe Dean wants to lose who knows the voters are telling the DNC that is no uncertain terms, they will vote for Obama, so all the AA can vote for him twice he will still not beat McCain, the DNC seems only to be interested in the AA vote and nothing more, they don’t seem to care about the back bone of the democrat party.

As for me am getting ready to change my party affiliation, I want no party of that stupid bunch of Dean and Pelosi, I will never vote for Obama and am sure McCain and those guys will welcome my vote, that is the big difference between the Republicans and the Democrats.

Comment by Melissa | 2008-05-06 20:46:40

Comment by Percy | 2008-05-06 20:01:28

Does anyone think the Black Republicans will cross lines and vote for Obama?

Will the solidarity among the black voters hand him the election if he is the nominee?

I do not trust him in our White House… and his is just not ready. I feel our country is being hi jacked.

You don’t understand the difference between a battle and a war. Obama cannot win in the fall. What you are looking at today is a DEMOCRATIC race. And there are 32 percent of Hillary voters who will not vote for her. In fact, many will work against Obama. Because for those of us who have been victimized by the Obama misogyny, it’s not just about wanting Hillary, it’s also about NOT wanting Obama. 32 percent is roughly 4.4 million voters.

Then there is the very angry Florida and Michigan. Then there are the very angry blue collar workers. Then there are the angry gays and lesbians, the Jews, the Italian, the Catholics (70 million of them, not all democrats, you see). Then there are seniors. and FINALLY, there are……………..REPUBLICANS. These people will all vote in November. This is McGovern all over again, sir. Been there, seen that. And when RECREATE68 starts scaring the shit out of America, it will get worse.

Don’t even try that here. I was a democrat before you were born. The people who bankrolled and ‘created” the persona of barack Obama are not democrats. They are the other side of the Right Wing whackjobs in the Republican party. They have been attempting to hijack the democratic party every decade or so for as many years as I have been alive. This is because their left of left of left cliff attitude couldn’t fly in their own parties. So they hopped onto the Democratic party and each and every time they rear their UGLY heads, we lose. That is why Democrats have had only two presidents in THIRTY years. And only ONE of them was a two termer. And ironically enough, they hate him for it. These are radicals and old hippies who are still living in the 60s. They capture the children with all the revolutionary excitement. And in the process they get more and more revolting, scare the shit out of adults and in the end, the party loses. This is an EXACT replica of McGovern. Barack Obama will NEVER be president.

Look: I agree with you, I don’t think McCain can win. I became a Reagan Democrat. I’m simply saying that Hillary cannot win the nomination. And if she wins the nomination (by some miracle) she won’t get the black vote. And she would need that vote to win the Presidency.

Bush beat Kerry by 13 million votes. Without the black vote she’d have to swing 10 million votes. That’s impossible. Can’t be done.

Comment by Jsilverheels | 2008-05-06 21:44:41

Correction: I meant to write, I don’t think Obama can win against McCain.

I’m listening to Hillary now. She sounds tired.

Hell I lost it years ago J.

What I am saying is Obama canNOT win. And we are back to marginalizing the party for another decade. WHat we have hear is a silly assumption that the blacks will not vote for Hillary and that all the OTHER people who have been disinfranchised by Obama in one form or another WILL vote for him. What I am saying here is his risk is HUGE, much bigger than hers would be. He’s a McGovern 38% person in the end. And we owe it all the the radical left. Again.

Comment by Jsilverheels | 2008-05-06 22:00:14

“What I am saying is Obama canNOT win.”

And I AGREE with you.

I am also saying that the crazy system of Democratic proportional voting Hillary Clinton cannot win the nomination.

I think we should focus on electing Democratic Senators and Congressmen and elect Hillary Senate Majority Leader. The hell w/Harry Reid. What a non-entity.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-06 22:06:21

Boy you just read my mind. If this were a winner take all race, it would have ended long ago. For God’s sakes, the Democrats have a Ding Dong school method. It’s like Let’s give Johnny some candy and Sally gets some candy too. The Republicans have a clean system. Period. It’s just one more example of how the Democrats make themselves look like asses.

Comment by Yvette | 2008-05-06 20:14:45

Do I care if the party cracks up? Heck no. I was an Independent with Republican leanings. The Bush admin almost converted me to being a Democrat. This is the first time I have ever campaigned for a president or given money to a presidential campaign…and that was for Hillary. If the Dems nominate Obama, I will become an official Republican, vote straight ticket, and never look back. I really want nothing to do with a party where so many people are fooled by Obama and the platitudes of change and hope. Anyone who pays attention to what he actually does, rather than what he says, knows his platform is a pile of sh*t.

Comment by Mr. Music | 2008-05-06 20:17:07

Yvette - his platform is almost identical to Clinton’s! I’m just amazed at the lack of logical thought by so many Clinton supporters. “Either I vote for Clinton or I vote for McCain.”

Let me break it down real simple for you guys as far as the issues go: McCain = BUSH. Obama = CLINTON. This is NOT a hard decision. This is an obvious decision. One way = more war and more failed economy not to mention more insane Supreme Court appointees. The other way = a new beginning and a movement towards liberal/progressive policies in America.

Comment by Yvette | 2008-05-06 20:19:26

His platform has been change, hope and that he is different…his whole thing has been that he is not a typical Washington politician. There is not a shred of truth to that.

Comment by Mr. Music | 2008-05-06 20:30:25

No. That’s not his platform - that’s his message. Completely different. By platform I mean the issues. That’s what’s really important. http://www.barackobama.com/issues/

I’m not voting for any of those fifth columnists in the Democratic Party that are known as Blue Dog Democrats either. If I wanted to vote for a Republican I’d vote for a Republican not some Blue Dog wannabe.

One thing that Obama and his motley crew of insulting elitists have done is turn this 40 year, straight Democrat ticket voting citizen into an Independent. An Independent that will vote for who I think best regardless of their party affiliation.

No Democrat will ever again be assured of my vote. Congratulations Obamacrats!

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-07 07:08:37

Well according to the legend/story, the kids were all found later - outside in the forest. All dead!

That’s where the AA & kiddie voters will be when thy realize how much they were fooled. More homes lost, questionable taxes…

I wonder if they’ll remember how it all led to this primary. Who will they blame?

Comment by ChrisXP | 2008-05-07 08:50:03

I wonder if they’ll remember how it all led to this primary. Who will they blame?

Carter.

Just like these flaming liberals gave to Reagan in 1980. Because Teddy and his cohorts egos and agendas were more important than winning the GE.

Obama is the new Ted Kennedy, and any Republican is going to milk that for it’s worth, with interest.

Why, oh, why do Dems continuely give up the brass ring to their extremists? Not like the country hates the Democrat party, but it distains it’s presidential candidates that are so out of touch with local values. Theres even those who are dreaming that Gore will ride in and save the party (the same Gore that couldn’t — again — seal the deal!).

I do not trust Obama….I don’t trust in what he says his policies are.. half of them ore rip offs of Clinton.. shocked they are smiliar. Oh yes.. and his great policy for Oregon to help them with their Great Lakes!

He is inexperienced, he is in this for his own ambition and we have no idea who his greatest loyalty is too! his closest associates are radicals, terrorist, oil people, financial people, bundlers, money launderers.

He will throw everyone under the bus when convenient for him.

Who knows what his beliefs are and if he is committed to his policies.

I would have supported any other democratic candidate.. Just not OBama … and it is not what is on the outside of him (skin color) yet on the inside of him… and his wife!

I will actively work against him.

Why did he block a revote in MI and FL?

He is trying to steal the nomination.

Anybody but Obama.

The DNC is silly if they think dems will blindly follow in line.

Comment by Mr. Music | 2008-05-06 20:36:31

“Mr Music ….. If their policies are so similar then lets put Hillary in!”

Personally I voted for Obama because I trust him much more. Clinton seems more of a “say anything to get elected” type. I also think that he has the type of personality and charisma to get things done that Clinton could not get done. When it comes down to candidates who agree on most major issues it comes down to things like that. In November that’s not the situation. We have a clear difference between 4 more years of George W Bush and a move towards progressive policies that will make our country both more prosperous and safer.

I don’t know what you think you are accomplishing here other than annoying a great many other people that don’t agree with you.

Obama will lose the votes of some racist Democrats but all real Democrats will vote for Obama. And I believe that we are moving past this sort of divisiveness. I believe that Obama is a new beginning for America. It is truly petty to go against him just because your candidate lost.

My initial favorite candidates were Mike Gravel & Dennis Kucinich. They did not win. That doesn’t mean I won’t support the Dem. nominee. That would be insane. Our country cannot deal with 4 more years of Republican rule. PLEASE get all of your heads together by November. This is important.

This is not just some silly game. This is not American Idol. This has real ramifications in the real world. Not supporting Barack Obama means supporting 4 more years of George W. Bush. It means supporting possible WAR with IRAN. It means supporting NO health care reform. It means supporting more economy that only works for the very rich. It means more insane “conservative” Supreme Court justices!

Vote on the issues.

Comment by Shainzona | 2008-05-06 20:47:22

“supporting NO health care reforms”
Please, give me a break. Voting on issues as you’re saying means voting for Hill’s health care plan. A plan that doesn’t leave out millions

Inform yourself and go beyond the bladibla of change & hope.

Substance is what counts here.

It’s insulting that you insinuate that people who don’t vote for Mr. Hope are racists and are not REAL Democrats. You sound just like Mr. Hope. Paint everyone a racist if they don’t like him. Nice. Real nice. It’s attitudes like yours that made me a Hillary supporter. First you all paint Bill and Hillary as racists and now their supporters? Nice way to “bring the party together.”

Comment by fooj | 2008-05-06 20:53:56

I would LOVE to vote on the issues. Problem is, Obama DESTROYED all of his paperwork (issues) he accumulated in the Illinois State Senate.

He hasn’t done SQUAT as a US Senator. Tell me, what issues are YOU referring to? The “gas tax gimmick”? Unfortunately for Little Lord Obama he voted for that SAME gimmick THREE TIMES in the Illinois State Senate. You see, the state hasn’t destroyed their records. So much for transparency, eh? Is THAT supposed to be the “CHANGE” that he will bring? Is his vote for Cheney’s SECRET Energy Bill supposed to be considered “CHANGE”, as well? How about that vote NO he made re: 29% cap on credit card interest? Certainly doesn’t sound like CHANGE to me. As far as issues go, that’s MORE THAN ENOUGH of an issue for me. I will be voting AGAINST BO in November.

BTW- what makes you so sure he will nominate a liberal Supreme Court Justice? He didn’t seem to have any problems with Roberts or Alito. He chastized us all for complaining about them. Look it up. It’s all there.

Spare us your lecture. Little Lord Obama has divided this party into OBLIVION with the leadership of Howard Dean and Donna Brazille…
Who the hell do you think you’re kidding.

Do you really believe that Obama crept into double digits in NC when he hasn’t shown a double digit lead in over 2+ weeks? Hillary has shown a double digit lead in Indiana for weeks and SUDDENLY she is at 4%?

Seriously, nobody is THAT stupid. Well…nevermind.

Oh, by the way…watch them steal GARY for Obama. You read it here first. Marion County where Obama violated election law “mysteriously” went to Obama, too. Hmmmmmmmm…

If you consider this CHANGE…well, good luck with that.

Comment by bert | 2008-05-06 21:56:11

If Obama gets the nomination my reason for not supporting him will have nothing to do with the fact that my candidate lost. It will because I do not support Obama. Plain and simple. He has no experience to be President. He is all talk and no show. And after three years, maybe less, he will get bored with the routine and want to move on to something else. Plus I do not trust the mooned interests behind Obama. My big fear is he will be the Democratic version of Bush. He will be a figurehead who will give lofty sounding speeches all the while he is controlled by the left-monied interests. It will be no different than what we have now except the agenda will be for those on the left. And that scares the crap out of me. I don’t need or want more of the same. I think Obama is a puppet and I believe is being used for the ulterior motives of others. And the country will be worse off for it. Except that, he cannot be elected. He is toxic and unelectable. If he gets the nomination he will be the biggest gift we will ever hand the Republicans and it will be on a silver platter.

It is about his lack of experience, his condescending attitude to women. There is no evidence that he won’t cross party lines to get his deals done and sell us all down the river. He likes Reagan better than Bill Clinton, so how is that supposed to make me feel good about voting for him? I am not against him because I am being petty, it is because he doesn’t measure up in my book. He is a recipe for failure and the Dems are going to make sure we don’t get the White house for another decade at least if they nominate him.

I don’t care what color he is, he is just too green to do the job.

Funny, speaking of weak deluded Rove technique, some idiot here made the point Karl could take out Obama while eating creme brulee and pounding on his blackberry.

Karl and his blackberry are analogous to a three year old banging an upside down pot with a wooden spoon his Mom gave him — most adults learn to over look the noise, and the “magical thinking.”

We expect it from a three year old.

Of course, I did know of a five year old who wasn’t potty trained, glad it wasn’t my problem.

You just can’t project what you don’t know at people who DO know, and are smarter than you.

Charlie Gibson didn’t “have to explain” the capital gains tax to Barack Obama in the last debate. That’s not what happened. Gibson simply prefaced his own question with a highly questionable right-wing talking-point. Someone needs to explain the capital gains tax to Gibson. This was obviously what happened.

http://www.cbpp.org/press-points.htm

Granted, Obama missed an opportunity. He is not an economist. When, during the course of being President, is it very important to be able to rebutt deceptively-semi-factual tax revenue statements, with an entire country watching, on the fly? It’s a nice skill to have, I don’t think it’s critically important. I wish he had hit back, though.

(Oh, and Hillary Clinton just said she “won’t put [her] lot in with economists.” Her whole series of statements about the gas tax and “expert” economists reeked of GW Bush.)

I know no one here cares about any of this. ;)

When the focus moves to John McCain, and people understand that he says things like this…

In response to a direct question about whether condoms prevent HIV/AIDS, he responded “you’ve stumped me.”

http://pandagon.blogsome.com/2008/02/28/elect-mccain-and-youll-get-four-more-years-of-anti-contraception-action/

… Enough people, including intelligent Republicans and Independents, will realize he’s too decrepit, too out of touch with, well, basically, the present-day world, to actually lead the country. Not everyone will see it, but enough will. (Bush primed that pump.) Enough to counter the haters.

I think that the center-left people who will vote _against_ Obama are mostly the same people who were swayed & swifted into voting _against_ Kerry. Many more center-right & new people will vote _against_ McCain, and/or for Obama. That math works.

That’s what’s going to happen.

USA! USA! USA!

Comment by Rhyta | 2008-05-07 02:45:08

As one of the center-left people who did vote for Kerry (held my nose but did it anyway) I don’t think your math holds up at all.

There is no guarantee that those Republicans and Independents that voted for Obama in the primaries are going to vote for him again. They have to be courted all over again and they are a bit skittish over the revelations about Wright, Rezko and so on.

By nominating Obama, McCain will get a shot of geritol and kick his ass, after the 527 turn him to hamburger.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-07 07:20:40

You do know that he advocated a 28 percent tax and then backed off of it when Hillary didn’t raise her 20 percent to match his?

So, for a guy who screams pandering when it comes to a gas tax, he knows how to bend it like Beckham when it suits his purpose.

In case you haven’t noticed, its a general election, not the olympics. Its not two weeks, it’s four years. It’s not sports, it’s politics. You can scream and chant and misrepresent all you like. You can even have Bill Ayers blow up polling places, but that doesn’t change math. He’s unelectable in November. Face it. I am going to early vote by mail and then sit and watch all of his supporters stand in line for a losing effort. That should last me four years of a Republican administration.

Brand-new article detailing how Barack Obama’s North Carolina win, depsite first appearances, actually damages his chances to be the Democratic nominee:

Obama’s NC win damages his candidacy

The mainstream media’s over-reaction to Obama’s win, predictably, is dead-wrong in its assessment.
This win actually seriously damages Obama’s chances to become the candidate for Democrats who wish to have a fighting chance against John McCain.

Comment by workingclass artist | 2008-05-06 22:04:33

Thanks for that Paul…It was a good analysis

Comment by bert | 2008-05-06 22:10:24

Excellent link Paul F.

The article highlights what we have seen and known since at least Super Tuesday. We all know this -

“So on either the question of general election viability or on the question of who a greater number of tallied Democratic voters support, Clinton is clearly ahead of Obama. North Carolina not only doesn’t change this reality, it actually reinforces it: Clinton has shown she can win the crucial swing states, she can win states that actually have the opportunity to go Democratic in November, and she has the backing of more Democrats than does Obama. This is the reality.”

The problem lies in the fact that Obama’s cult like following does not understand it, dosen’t care in any event, and the Dem Party seems hell bent on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory just to prove it is not racist. Don’t confuse any of them with FACTS. Their minds are already made up. I would change my registration from D to I, except I can’t. I already did that two summers ago when I got royally pissed that they kept funding the war and caving into Bush.

Actually, I believe that Senator Obama is bi-racial and doesn’t really refer to himself as the black candidate unless he is stumping in states where the overwhelming number of voters understand the “okey doke” and “bamboozle” references.

Savages was meant to refer to the supporters of his canidacy. Randi Rhodes comes to mind.

Go Hillary! And if she doesn’t get the nomination, Go McCain! Anyone but Obambi, I’d like to have a real live grown-up for President. Am watching (on mute) his victory speech in NC- can the man crack a smile? He looks bitter, angry, and tired. Guess he’s unhappy all those white folk voted with their brains and clung to old politics like love of country, instead of flocking to The One. Poor Obambi, he only got one cookie instead of two. That darn smart girl beat him again. Guess he might have to go cry to his Momma. Oh wait, she’s a typical white person, gues that won’t do. Hmm, oh, well, he could always go cry to his Daddy figure. Oh wait, he just threw Obambi under the bus. Soon, he’ll have no friends left. Sad, so sad.

Comment by Mr. Music | 2008-05-06 20:28:37

Margaret - listen to what you are saying. McCain means four more years of George W. Bush. Don’t be so petty as to vote against your own self interest just because your candidate lost.

Comment by Shainzona | 2008-05-06 20:50:45

You know what Mr. Music….somehow this country lived through 8 years of George Bush.

We can handle another four years of Repugs.

If you want Obama - you can have him. But don’t stick this country with him - please.

I actually fear him more than I fear McCain.

Comment by it'snotme | 2008-05-06 20:55:02

You’re just going to have to live with the consequences of what you Obamaroids have done. Deal with it. If you didn’t want McCain to be your president, you should have supported the candidate that could beat him in November. Such is life in Obama world. Nothing else matters. The only thing that matters to you is for HIM to be the Democratic nominee. Winning in November, obviously meant NOTHING to you and the rest of the Obamaroids. Live with it. McCain is YOURS. Hope you’re happy.

Comment by Dave | 2008-05-06 20:56:01

Mr. Music. - I want to congratulate you on being one of the more civil Obama supporters that I have come across in the blogosphere. But I think you misjudge many people’s reasons for opposing Obama in the fall. We are mostly older and used to supporting candidates who are eliminated in the primaries.

It is more personal with Obama than with most others. I respect that Wright and Ayers are non-issues for you, but many of us are offended by Obama’s association with them, we have been insulted by his prominent supporters (Huffington, Jackson Jr, etc.) and have enough respect for Christians and hunters to be annoyed by his “cling to guns and religion” comment.

My personal biggest fear is that his non-universal health care plan will delay real universal health care by decades.

And McCain is not Bush - global warming, torture, and a balanced budget are just three of the many differences between them.

On a positive note, your site is pretty cool!

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-07 07:26:02

Disenefranchisement is a non-starter for me.

Do you view this as “petty”?

“Black politicians less gifted than Harold discovered what white politicians had known for a very long time: that RACE-BAITING could make up for a host of limitiations.”- B. Obama (Dreams from My Father)

Four more years of George Bush? Everything YOUR candidate has done absolutely MIRRORS the Rove/Bush/Cheney playbook.

It’s all about PROJECTION and I guess you have to hand it to him…he’s done a wonderful job PROJECTING what HE does onto everyone else.

When the Repubs are through with him, you’ll feel ashamed that the lying, conniving imposter sucked you and all the others in. Count on it.

Comment by so saddened | 2008-05-06 21:05:18

we’re not voting against our self interest by voting against obama. voting for obama is voting against our self interest and against the country’s interest.

and we’re not voting against obama because our candidate “lost.”

we are, however, voting against obama.

you keep writing bs about why we shouldn’t. get the point - you’re wasting your time. we are voting against obama. period.

and if we were to change our minds (not happening), it would NOT be because of some bs troll argument.

Democracy is dead. I always thought it was the Repubs that suppressed and intimidated voters. I always believed that the Repubs were stealing the elections.

No more. I have physically watched the Democratic Party do the very same thing they have blamed the Repubs for doing the last 7+ years.

I’m done. Independent Party here I come.

IMO, if Hillary doesn’t speak out regarding Obama’s electioneering and fraud throughout this primary season…well, I don’t know what else to say about that. There isn’t a candidate on planet earth that wouldn’t expose Obama’s bullshit at this point. I don’t know what else to say about that, either.

Lastly, how did the large areas report immediately in NC (polls closed) as we wait with baited breath for the smaller, outlying areas to report THEIR numbers? Notice that CNN won’t call Indiana for Clinton because the large, populated areas of Indiana haven’t gotten their totals together yet. Looks and sounds like bullshit to me.

We’ve been had. Again.

Comment by Karen | 2008-05-06 20:37:19

Obama is the most divisive candidate in my lifetime. His use of racism has turned African Americans against Hillary and without that racism he would never have won after NH. It is such a shame that his voters refuse to acknowledge the fact that our lives were so much better under Bill Clinton and the the Clintons have devoted their lives to helping African Americans, actually all Americans. This primary will destroy the Democratic Party for decades.

Why didn’t the hierarchy in the Democratic Party vet this man? Why are they supporting a candidate who will destroy the base of the party? When this mess is all over they will all blame the Clintons. What a shame for our country.

When was the last time a Democrat won North Carolina in the general election?

So much for Obama’s “victory,” and also consider how he won, with 30 some odd percent of the population being black.

The SD’s know this.

Turn off the MSM and their spin and misdirection, it is designed to keep your spirts, energy and morale down. Keep donating time, energy and funds if you can to Hillary. And above all else, stay positive.

Things are looking good. The Clinton team has an excellent endgame planned.

Look for Hillary to possibly mention the “tiebreaker” in her acceptance speech. Terry M. already mentioned it. Click on my name/handle for info on this, I wrote about it around 1PM.

Obama and his wifey-poo are the WORST things for race relations to hit this country in a long time. The fact that 93% of blacks vote for Obama is pure RACISM and it makes me ill. When Spike Lee called Bill Clinton - massah Clinton - it irked me no end.

Hillary - if you are reading this - dont’ give up.
This country can’t survive a President Obama.
This country can’t survive a First Lady Obama (gag).

Note to Mr. Music - you bet your backend that Ayers, Wright, and Rezko ARE ISSUES. They go right to the heart of who Obama is. They ARE ISSUES no matter how hard Obamatrons try to ignore that fact.

If Hillary doesn’t get the nomination then I’ll be voting for Ron Paul.

I’ve voted Democrat for thirty years, and this is the first time I won’t support the nominee if it’s Obama. WHY?? Because never in my entire lifetime have I seen a political process so blatantly unfair. Not only did Hillary have to contend with media bias, but she had to jump over hurdles of crap thrown at her from members within her own party. The caucuses alone were a major joke, but in addition to that, everyone knows Hillary could easily win a re-vote in the Michigan and Florida primaries. (How about instead of eliminating Michigan and Florida, let’s do away with Illinois and the Carolinas—that sounds fair.) Voting for Obama now would be like handing a burglar your most prized heirloom and saying, “No, you keep it.” Under no circumstances will I support such a corrupt system led by asses like Dean, Brazille, Pelosi, and others. All of these politicians should have ethically remained neutral, but they might as well had yelped with joy at tingles they felt up their legs.

Comment by fooj | 2008-05-06 21:09:24

let’s do away with Illinois and the Carolinas—that sounds fair.

He wouldn’t be the front-runner without Illinois. 90% of his pop vote comes from there. 2/3 of that comes from Cook County.

Comment by pm317 | 2008-05-06 22:38:12

Yep, “he sees dead people” (remember sixth sense the movie) I am still puzzled by those Cook county numbers because I dug around all of them and without dead people voting, or live people voting many times, those numbers don’t make sense. And that is most of his lead — whereas Hillary has legitimate vote count lead from FL and MI that is not being recognized. What an irony. Democratic party has gone to the dogs. Obama will not get my vote nor my husband’s. We have seen enough of corrupt campaigns like his in India and were at one time happy to run away from it having come here. No more.

silver, you express my feelings exactly. Only one difference - I have voted Democratic for 40 years. Imagine how I feel having to find someone to vote for in November. I fee adrift and all alone in the middle of the ocean. It is so depressing.

Comment by Clinton Fan | 2008-05-06 22:47:56

I have been a Democrat even LONGER. And if Obama is the nominee, I will write in myself before I vote for him. I find him, frankly, to be a bit stupid–he may be well educated, but he flunked common sense. The Ummming and Awwwing, the missteps when approaching foreign policy issues, the oddball friendships with incredibly “iffy” people, from Rezko to Ayers and beyond, his INSANE and way too close association with the Crown family, and his perpetually pissed off way of speaking–I just don’t think I can endorse that, and I think I’ll cut off the cable for four years if he gets in.

The sad thing is, he won’t get in if he’s our standard bearer against McCain. We’re SCREWED if he gets it. It’ll be FOUR MORE YEARS. We will have to hope for a robust showing in the Congressional races to keep Old Swabbie in check.

Comment by kimmy | 2008-05-06 20:41:40

I’ve thought about this a lot, Susan, and I’m with you on this one. If Obama wins the nomination, I’m through with this party and couldn’t care less what becomes of it. To be called racist, a member of the ‘dry pussy’ set, white trash, poor/uneducated/unsophisticated, a fake Democrat, bitter and clinging to [...] for months on end, and to be expected to let bygones be bygones come November…is too much. They can take their patronizing and pretentiousness and pc bullying and shove it. And they deserve what they get in November.

His resume is too thin. What part of this do you not understand. We cannot back him because he is not worthy of our vote. He has lost most white men, seniors, bitter rural people, and a whole lot of women. You do not understand what we are saying. We will never vote Obama, for the reasons stated above.

This middle-aged white woman feels left out and kicked to the side of the road. I was a professional in my working career but a product of the working class and not likely to ever forget that. I will never vote for Obama…its Hillary or McCain for me. I really hate to become an Independent(against my grain) but may be the only way to go.

Comment by kenoshaMarge | 2008-05-07 06:52:23

This old white woman became an Independent after being a Democrat for 45 years.

Now that I’ve gone and done it I’m glad that I did. I thought I would feel lost but instead I feel newly motivated because now I don’t feel obligated to vote for every pinhead that has a “D” after his/her name.

Any Democrat that gets my vote from now on will have to earn it.

And while I could never vote for McCain, I will also never, ever vote for Barack Obama. The damage he did to the Democratic Party and the damage he attempted to do to the legacy of the only successful Democratic Administration in the last 40 years is unforgiveable. And all the other Democrats in leadership positions that helped him do that should never be forgiven either.

If Obama is handed the nomination, the only way I will not vote for McCain is if he chooses a right-wing nutcase as his running mate. If he does that, I will not vote for either one. Unfortunately, Arkansas does not allow a write-in; if it did, Hillary would get my vote.

How the DNC can think Obama can win in the GE is beyond me given the states he has “won”. Does Obama really believe that all those Republicans who voted in the open primaries are going to vote for him in the GE? If he and the DNC do, I’ll say to them what I used to say to my troops when they did something stupid, “What have you been smoking?”

This man is the most devisive candidate in my life time. When the campaigen started Clinton had the majority of AA support. The only way he could change that was to start a campaign painting the Clinton’s as racists. They planned it from the start. That’s when he lost me completely — the Clintons are many things, but racist — no way. Don’t you just love how someone spouting about unity can’t keep from condescending and insulting?

Real Democrats are evidently only those who agree with him.

Others are racists.

This would not be the way an intelligent person would attempt to unite. In fact an intelligent individual would shut the hell up and quit annoying people lest they refuse to vote for the Unity Pony out of sheer spite. Which human nature being what it is, some undoubtedly will.

For others, like this “real” Democrat, I’ll not vote for a flimflam man just because the “Music Man” thinks I should. You and your arguments are really quite absurd, not to mention trite, superficial and tiresome.

I’ve come to realize that the DNC is corrupt. As a Michigan resident and lifelong Democrat I will be voting for John McCain in November if our votes are not counted as cast and certified by our Secretary of State. The DNC has their head in the sand if they truly believe Michigan and Florida won’t count. Because we will count against their candidate if that candidate is Obama. Obama and his DNC supporters have done everything to disenfranchise our votes so they will not get our votes in the Fall! And for many of us this will be a longtime break. Noone has the right to disallow our votes! We are American citizens and our rights are being trounced on.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-07 07:35:30

More than any other single issue, the disenfranchisement of voters in Michigan and Florida ‘rank’ *both uses of the word* as the worst thing the Democratic party has EVER done. Period. He is a non starter.

Comment by Diane D-R | 2008-05-06 21:28:10

No, I no longer care if the party implodes. That might actually be the best thing that could happen to the country. The Dems failed to serve as a check and balance on the Bush/GOP power grab. Bush should have been impeached during his first term. He wasn’t, and Pelosi took impeachment off the table when the Dems got a (bare) majority. Obama is a corrupt, racist, divisive figure, and I will not vote for him in the GE. Come November, I’m writing in Clinton’s name. And then I’m switching my party to “Independent.”

Comment by Mr. Music | 2008-05-06 21:52:31

And when they had a chance in 2004 to do so, threw it away with issues that was designed to divide voters bitterly (like pushing the gay agenda over every other issue — be it Iraq, economy or whatever); let alone the mindless ABB mantra.

Dems may have gotten some new young voters. But history shows how they don’t vote in the end. What a failed stragedy, much like the visions of the DNC for the past 20 years.

Carter helped bring peace to the Middle East (and the liberals pushed him in front of the bus, so Reagan to win). Clinton helped to steer one of the best economic times in recent memory (and the liberals today are pushig him in front of the bus, so McCain can win).

With friends like that, who even needs the GOP?

I truly beleive that the Republican’s involvment and Obama’s strategy of “Democrat for a Day”, the lies he has told enabled by the corporate media, again, the Republican’s involvement, along with the DNC’s stacking the deck, moving up South Carolina so that the AA community could be used to accuse the Clinton’s of Racism, and finally, the stupid caucus system that disenfranchises voters as much as ignoring Florida and Michigan have all caused another Democrat electoral trainwreck. Now I remember why Al Gore said no thanks. We do it to ourselves. Thats why I am a non-affiliated (Independent)voter.

What we are witnessing is the fragmentation of American politics. The two party system is done.

Why the Democratic Party would split its base and have a woman and an AA run against each other in the same election is beyond me.

The elite who backed Obama are just plain stupid. I realize they wanted an anyone but Clinton candidate but none of them thought through the consequences of such a match up.

Now the GOP is split and the Democratic Party is split which gives an opening for a third party and maybe even a fourth.

If Nader runs, he draws votes from Obama not McCain.

Mr. Music,

I’ve been around for fifty years—and the Democratic process USED to be fair, and newscasters USED to be impartial. This election has been outrageous in so many ways against Hillary. I think Obama MIGHT have gained more Dem. support in the GE if everything in the primaries had been on the up and up—if he’d been properly vetted, caucuses were abolished, and all the votes were properly counted. Oh, what am I thinking, then HILLARY would have won!!

And furthermore, she still WILL!!!!!!!!!

People who call Rev. Wright “racist” are themselves actually racist. That’s what’s so ironic about it.

What did he say that is racist? He wants equality for blacks, not superiority.

He is not a racist. He’s a marine.

Comment by kenoshaMarge | 2008-05-07 07:13:00

Mr. Inharmonious Music you’ve posted some pretty stupid things on this thread but congratulations, you just outdid yourself:

“He’s not racist, he’s a marine.”

Hey Susan, can I nominate that as the dumbest thing a troll has ever said on this blog?

Or we can accept his drivel and console ourselves that there are NO racists in the entire Marine Corps. Now that’s amazing!

While we can all thank any vet for their service that does not give them a pass on everything they say or do for the rest of their life. Or maybe Timothy McVeigh should have been given a pass for his former service to this country. God you are stupid, even for a troll.

The only thing anyone can point to for this ridiculous assertion that Wright is racist is that the USA is run by ‘rich white people’!

Now, if that’s racist. . . well, my wife has actually said about the USA- that it’s run by ‘rich white men’ (look at the Senate- only one African American and 16 women) and she has said the same about her company, the oil companies, etc, etc (as in ‘look at all those rich white men’ on the board of directors)

I guess that makes HER racist AND SEXIST?!?!?!?!?

You didn’t realize there were racists in the democratic party? Are you for real? 93% of black people voted for the black candidate simply because he’s black .. that’s RACISM.

Obama is racist. That’s a fact. If he wasn’t, then he wouldn’t have been able to sit in those pews for 20 years listening to Wrights’ racist rants.

Wright is an anti-white racist.

Obama’s ‘bitter’ half - Wifeypoo - is an anti-white racist. Try reading her College Thesis sometime.

I am so disgusted today! I am a Native American. I was born and raised in the heart of South side Chicago. I grew up around all races but primarily where I lived it was AA. It is beyond me to hear and read that the AA community is not Racist. I have seen it, I have heard it and I have lived it! I told my family, as soon as the MSM jumped aboard his bus, that the AA vote would go to him. It didnt matter who was best. It was their “Black Hope”. They have forgotten all the Clintons have done for them. As soon as the MSM manufactured the “Race Baiting” in S. Carolina, I knew they would “Forget” all that HRC did for them. I just watched Donna Brazile on CNN chuckle and endorse Obie Wan in her sly way. If you thought for one minute that they would stand with Hillary, I am sorry. I worked as a volunteer in Illinois for HRC. I was called a Racist many many times over because I refused to vote for him. I was pressured over and over again by people at the campaign office to vote for Barakula but I stood my ground. Needless to say I am no longer called to volunteer here in Illinois for the Dem Party.

Yeah….Im sad..

Comment by Jason | 2008-05-06 21:59:51

So the native american just called the AA community racist.

You people are so stupid.

Keep fighting each other, you are doing the Republicans work for them.

“We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.”

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-06 22:41:37

You people

Well, MY GOODNESS. Looky here! Had I said You People, I would have been called a racist. And here you are talking that way to a person whose ancestors had America stolen from them so that people like you could dis the hell out of them.

We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.”

Nobody I know will hang except Barack Obama in November. I personally will do all I can to help make that happen. And I won’t bat an eye.

Comment by Jason | 2008-05-07 07:09:05

Had I said You People, I would have been called a racist.

Only if you were addressing a group of blacks. When I said it, I meant “you people who post here” but I know nuances go right over your head.

The fact hat his ancestors had “America” stolen from them (and which tribe, exactly, is he from that once owned all of America?) doesn’t allow him to denigrate an entire other class of people, which was my point.

Or do you think we are somehow better of engaging in petty class warfare? Are you secretly a Republican? You are now supporting McCain. Makes one wonder.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-07 07:43:21

We know EXACTLY what you meant by You People as much as you know when it is used here.

No one has exclusive vision. Barack H. Obama’s campaign has been so divisive that we don’t know what words are acceptable any longer.

I do know this: I won’t be voting for him EVER …

Comment by ned bulous | 2008-05-07 07:44:15

Yeah, the irrational hatred around here is ASTOUNDING!

To ostensibly support Clinton and her ideals and then actively work AGAINST the nominee who agrees with her on 99.99% of policies. . . well, that’s plan NONSENSICAL!

Further, Hillary WILL be actively supporting Obama and she WILL be a member of his cabinet, or a Court nominee, or the Majority Leader of the Senate!

If you would rather help elect someone who wants to put more Scalias, more Thomases, more Roberts on the the courts. . . well, that’s INSANE!

Not to mention that you couldn’t have REALLY supported what Clinton actually STANDS FOR! What was it, then? Just a cult of personality for the Clintons? Remember, she is ‘HONORED’ to be running in the primary with Obama and she WILL be honored to help him win election!

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-07 07:53:05

She shows more loyalty and dignity than I claim to. I didn’t hear Michelle Obama utter the same words, did you?

Why are the other candidates not there? Why is John Edwards eliminated? Weren’t his policies superior to Obamas? Has he endorsed? Has Elizabeth?

At a certain point it is character driven. I think that most of the people here would agree that we find his character lacking.

For me, disenfranchisement of two states is a non-starter. Both jurisdictions have floated multiple plans that would have allowed revoting. Both times the party allowed Obama’s objections to stand in the way for doing the right thing. He is clearly driving this bus over the cliff. I don’t intend to be in the seats or to help pay for the gas as it hurtles over.

Well lookie here- the trolls are upset- boo hoo Here’s a comment a coward left on my blog-

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post “SpiritedPolitics: The Brains behind “Barama”":

Over at NQ, you wrote:

“I am an American, true blue, and I will NEVER vote for someone I believe to be as dangerous to our country as Hitler was to Germany.
Yes, I DID compare Obama to Hitler and I mena it. Have you heard him say “It’s in my D.N.A.”? Now just what do you suppose he means by that???”

He said that after he said he’s all about uniting people–”it’s in my DNA”. He meant, of course, that he comes from a mixed set of parents.

The bigger question is: why are so fucking stupid? Is that in your DNA too, you moronic turd? ”
end quote

Well, I will let you all chime in on this, if you would.
My turn first
No, dear, I am not stupid, actually, I hold two degrees, my Bachelor’s was Magna Cum laude from Boston University.
Obama has been using the D.N.A. line quite a bit lately- go look up Hitler, he too believed he and the Germans had some kind of special genetics that made them superior. We know where that got us now don’t we???

I looked at all the candidates- really looked. I did not buy the Hope and Change, there is NOTHING in his RECORD to back up his words.
He has toxic associations that I believe are dangerous to our country.
Obama gives me the creeps in a big way. I read all the available material and the more I find out about him, the less there is to like and the more I am determined to actively campaign against him should the DNC be so idiotic as to nominate him.

In my D.N.A??? Who knows?? I know a con when I hear one though!

It is so disgusting to watch the chosen pundents on the media with such bias’s and yet like on CNN one person gave clear answers and not one pundent could respond properly to him, thank you Lanny!

Obama’s own “just words” I will win Indiana! He lost, spending 3 to 4 times the moeny and LOST!

Won a major Black state again, good for him, cost him more than the infrastructure repairs needed in North Carolina to win a margin less than what he predicted a month ago!

This is no candidate for november, who has used the dirtiest of tactics to win at all costs has been Obama’s run even though he talks of uniter hope transparency change none of which he has lived up too!

CNN proved tonight when a Republican brought up Wright and Ayers, he was trounced, but fact is they exist and the more it is uncovered, Obama truth comes out!

They will be all John mcCain when the rubber meets the road. You wait until the Obamabrats get a load of what the MSM really thinks!

How about somebody start a Petition or other form to the DNC, where you can make known that you will not vote for Obama in the General Election, or if something like this has already been done, can someone tell where to find it.
Even better, would be a way to get this directly to the SD’s, if possible.

Comment by Melissa | 2008-05-06 22:05:21

If you go to Uppity’s page- click on her blue name- there is a petition link there for that very purpose- look on the right hand side.
i signed it a while back.
Thanks again for posting it Uppity Woman- you are the best!

Donna Brazile said:

BRAZILE: No. It sounds like I am ready to unify my party. I’m ready to bring the party back together and I’m sick and tired of hearing people say my party, my party. This is the Democratic Party. We have stood through thick and thin and I’m sick of the divisions. That’s all I’m saying.

So, if I have this straight, Ms. Brazile is “ready to unify my party.”

And, Ms. Brazile is “sick and tired of hearing people say my party, my party.”

Can someone please reconcile this for me? Thanks.

I just wanted to let people know that the article to which I posted a link here shortly ago contained two errors, one minor and one more consequential.

Both errors have been fixed so if you are going to be making arguments based on what I wrote, I wanted to alert you to check on the edited material:

Obama’s NC win actually hurts his electability argument

Sorry for the confusion.

I see many new faces here tonight! :)

Welcome to No Quarter. Maybe some of you have been lurking here for a while and finally decided to participate? The more the merrier. And keep your spirits up, Hillary is a tough-as-nails scrapper and has an excellent team and an endgame strategy to pull this all together — we have to be patient though.

Hillary needs funds so please keep contributing as much as you can. And keep your spirits up and turn off the television. The media has sided with Obama and they just want to keep your morale down

Lake county is doing Chicago style voting!

Comment by Ray | 2008-05-06 22:12:15

As it is now 9:50 CST Tuesday evening….it has become glaringly obvious that Lake County Indiana (i.e. Indiana’s Chicago Metro Area) is intentionally delaying the release of the election results……To those unfamiliar with Chicago-area politics this may seem coincidental, but to those all too familiar with Chicago politics-this is business as usual.

When Barack Obama made his acceptance speech tonight, in front of his wide-eyed YES WE CAN! contingent……he talked about bringing change to Washington…he said he is the only one who can do this……his words were strong and confident……unfortunately, he does not have the resume to back his words up…..

For the last 20 years Obama has had a chance to shake the Chicago Political Machine, which has controlled Chicago’s neighborhoods for 77 years……he had a chance to stand up to the crooked Alderman….he had a chance to stand up against Todd Stroeger and the corrupt Cook County government…..but….he didn’t….in fact, he’s appeased, and appeases, the existing machine….he continues to allow alderman to accept bribes….he’s allowed our cities health care system to collapse……he’s allowed our vital public transportation system to deteriorate to a point of no return…….he’s watched a mayor destroy a city airport in the middle of the night, without permission…..he’s watched, and continues to watch Chicago’s county President abuse his power, and misuse our tax dollars…….which is hard to do, considering Chicagoans pay the highest sales tax in the country.

So, as we are still waiting for the results to come in from Lake County Indiana…because a city government is playing dirty politics…..keep in mind, this is nothing new…..as Chicagoans, this is politics as usual…politics that Barack Obama is quite familiar with, and all too willing to appease.
