Overt, Not Covert

Some coward, who blogs under the name, Rising Hegemon (and no, I’m not even going to link to the asshole), issued a challenge to me based on a report from the McClatchy news service. Hegemon writes :

And who are these smear artists…and suddenly I wonder if retired CIA clandestine officer Larry Johnson of “No Quarter” would like to categorically deny this is him, not saying it is…but the description leads one to wonder:

Well here is your answer. I am not a chickenshit like you. I am not hiding behind a false name. I put my real name and my actual picture on my blog. I do not have to pretend to be somebody else. And I have the guts to stand up for what I believe. You, Hegemon, are a coward and spineless wonder. You like to pretend to be tough and “out there” but you lack the balls to write under your real name. But this is typical of Obama propagandists and supporters.

They are so stupid and inexperienced that they will accept any nonsense as fact. Sure explains why they are backing Barack. Yesterday, the McClatchy news service did a piece on “Obama rumors.” The McClatchy dispatch includes this tidbit about a harebrained scheme by some anonymous “CIA operative:”

One practitioner in Virginia, who hates Obama like a dog hates cats, led a reporter through his efforts. Because the man is a retired clandestine CIA officer, identifying him could endanger officers or operations that remain classified, so McClatchy will not reveal his name.

In late 2006, convinced that an Obama presidency would be disastrous for America, he decided to start an anti-Obama operation. He combed the public record on Obama. He used a couple of allies and informants — half-jokingly dubbing his group “The Crusaders” — to learn about Obama’s background, especially his Africa connection and how he came to be the editor of the Harvard Law Review.

He assembled a dossier on Obama, including allegations that Obama attended a madrassa, or Islamic religious school, in his youth in Indonesia.

I would like to know who this alleged CIA operative is. He gives new meaning to the term, inept. For starters, we do not have to invent fantasies or frauds about Obama. Let’s stick to the truth. In fact, the hallmark of effective CIA “covert action” efforts is based on truth, not lies. But the Barack disciples do not understand even this basic point. Bill Ayers is not a figment of my imagination. Jeremiah Wright is not a media creation. Tony Rezko is not some character from a novel. Barack’s relationships with these people are fair game and merit serious examination. If his judgment is so flawed that he does not recognize the dangers inherent in associating with these kinds of people, on what basis are we to trust him to suddenly grow a brain if he becomes president? Ain’t going to happen.

Be assured of one thing. If I have an opinion on a matter I have the courage to speak my mind in my name. And wimps like Hegemon can kiss my ass.

The DNC’s lack of leadership is appalling and I for one will not allow 3 million MI and Fl voters to be silenced without exerting some form of retribution. As for kissing roe v wade goodbye, well let me tell you, it’s better than kissing our country, the US of A, goodbye to militant islamic groups, the groups your precious, corrupt BO and his terrorist sympathizing advisors and funders love to coddle. I hope you Obamatots grow up and understand that the campaign between Hillary and BO is NOT a popularity contest. This is a NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE!

It’s a Kennedy dreamt up coup to counter Clinton’s powers as fund raisers and heads of the party.

Clintons have been in charge of all heavy fundraising and power. Obama was their ticket to topple the Clintons. Unfortunately Clinton’s campaign suffered setbacks, old fashioned fund raising, and other issues allowed Obama to win big in Iowa and gain momentum which allowed all the super els to move to Obama. Richardson,Dodd and the rest likewise.

Even if buyers remorse has set into some Supers, Kerry [the ass] has concluded that
Obama can do as well as he did in ‘04!! Imagine.

And Black Caucus has put the Party in a corner. Any challenging question will continue to be labelled “racist”, and the
MSM will continue to coddle their Precious.

Will I vote for Obama? No.

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-09 21:51:51

and other issues allowed Obama to win big in Iowa

Given the cheating witnessed in other caucuses, this “win” is also suspect.

Perhaps Obama didn’t win Iowa, at all.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-05-09 23:42:34

Probably he didn’t win.

After my experience watching the Obama machine in WA State — I expect that Obama BOUGHT every single precinct chairman.

There is no way that caucus should be allowed in any future Primary vote — or hell all caucus votes should be challenged THIS TIME.

Caucuses should NOT be allowed to determine something as important as the democratic Prez nominee.

Whoa, this is pretty sad. An Obamamite who is just as ignorant to history as I have imagined them to be. An example….. It is a right of passage to be a Democrat, and to loose badly on your first passion.
Get used to it… Democrats have been losers in most of the past 40 years.
Only Bill Clinton has beaten them and has prevailed. He is the only one. ( Carter was a one term and a loser)

I think Obama will be a wonderful lesson to the newly installed Dems who are voting for the very first time.
Like a virgin and get used to it.
Democrats loose more often than win.
Obama is sure loser.
Be glad and rejoice in your experience learning. Get used to loosing…..cause Obama is a sure looser.

Comment by street_parade | 2008-05-09 23:10:21

onmomnaturesside, you are SOOO right, if your a Dem get used to losing.

My first Presidential election was 1980 – yep, lost. ‘84 – shellacking! ouch, ‘88 – almost as bad as ‘84, ‘92 – BILL!!!!, ‘96 – BILL!!!!, ‘00 – George stole it and Al let him, ‘04 – loser.

I was so looking forward to this year, thought there was no way we’d lose it — ONLY the Democrats could screw it up like this. My entire adult life the ONLY time I’ve voted for the winner was Clinton. I remember when he won in ‘92 and something like a dozen Democratic women were elected to the Senate that night as well. GOD IT FELT GOOD TO WIN.

That’s why the Dem elite hate them so much, they’re the only winners we’ve had in THIRTY YEARS! I truly believe that Bill Clinton will be the LAST Democratic President — for some strange reason Dems don’t like to win.

Comment by Kathy | 2008-05-10 11:19:55

The elite repubs are so jealous of the Clintons. They can’t stand the fact that two people came out of Arkansas and took the country by storm. The two of them are loved all over the world and Kennedy, Kerry, etc. are so jealous they can’t stand it.

So we lose again and they don’t care. Just as long as it isn’t a Clinton. I want all of them to be gone and I want my party back.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-05-09 22:36:59

I know Obama doesn’t want our votes but boy will he be begging for them. Right now he thinks that his Republican crossovers and fickle young voters are going to replace the Democratic Base. He also wants to ditch the 30% Hispanic Voters who the Dems have been trying to get for years. Obama has painted himself into a corner now that he has become the AA candidate. Every word that every Obama supporters says is going to be challenged by the AA police. I am getting out of the party before it becomes a zoo. God I hope zoo is politically correct. One doesn’t know these days.

Comment by stodghie | 2008-05-09 22:41:26

i feared that a major backlash would take place and it is starting. not even the msm can ignore what is going to happen. there are elements when set loose that can’t be put back in the box. obama and axelrod set them loose and karma has a way of finding the guilty parties.

I always say that all McCain has to do to win is say vote for him, unless you want to have a ‘conversation’ about ‘race in America’ for the next 4 years — all day, every day for 4 F@#KING YEARS!!!

Comment by zzzot | 2008-05-09 23:31:49

If we did it would’nt be Obama’s fault. Hill and Bill brought it up when they were getting their asses kicked. Up until SC it was a non-issue. Funny how when SHE’s down and out theirs a race issue ie SC ie today. Pitiful.

Comment by street_parade | 2008-05-09 23:46:31

zzznot, we’ve been through the Jesse Jackson crap before…so I for one am not taking the bait again.

If you are a thinking individual and not a closet classist/racist then you know that saying the name Jesse Jackson is not a racial slur. If you believe it is there is little I or anyone else can do to dissuage you of your belief.

Comment by zzzot | 2008-05-10 00:17:31

Street-charade you’re just being a simpleton if you think that’s all Bill did. Utter JJ and everyone shouts racist? I’ll tell you again what I believe. JJ was never a serious Presidential candidate because he couldn’t get the white vote. He was always the “black candidate” Everyone knows this, Bill knew it when he made his comments basically equivocating Obama with JJ. TRYING to make him the “black candidate”. Well surprixe here we are again and Hill still making that argument even today. Pitiful.

Comment by street_parade | 2008-05-10 00:49:38

What, that she get’s more of the white vote? Well she does. And he gets virtually all of the African American vote? Well he does. By the way, she also gets much MORE of the Latino and Asian-American vote than she does of European-Americans — what does that mean? (I wanted a hyphen too, I’m tired of being called just plain old white, so I’m now a European-American.) Those are facts, not racism.

But people can jump up and down all they want, it won’t matter in November. The Rethugs don’t care if you call them racist — only Democrats care about that.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Comment by Kathy | 2008-05-10 11:25:08

Why is it when you describe the AA vote as the “black vote” that isn’t racist. Someone says “white vote” and you are screaming race all over the place. I am sick of it and I won’t vote for Obama because I am sick of his organization hollaring “racist.” You don’t have a clue what I or anyone else feels let alone whether we are racists. What the hell do you want us to call the “white vote.”

Sorry that it had to end this way
No reason to pretend
We knew it had to end some day, this way

Yes, it’s over, Hill is done
What’s the use of tryin’ to hang on?
Somewhere you lost the key
So little left for you and she and it’s clear to see

Too much, too little, too late to lie again with you
Too much, too little, too late to try again with you
We’re in the middle of ending something that we knew

It’s over
Oh, it was over

Too much, too little, too late to ever try again
Too much, too little, too late, let’s end it being friends
Too much, too little, too late, we knew it had to end

Ah, it’s over
It’s over

Yes, it’s over, the chips are down
Nearly all our bridges tumbled down

Whatever chance we try, let’s face it why deny
It’s over (It’s over)
It’s over

Too much, too little, too late to ever try again
Too much, too little, too late, let’s end it being friends
Too much, too little, too late, we knew it had to end

And it’s over
And it’s over

You guys simply don’t understand conservatism, and why McInsane is despised so much on the Right. Like to lump Bush as a Far-Right or whatever, when they’re all Neo-Cons (which is like your New Left).

Care about feminists suddenly do you? So concerned for your reproductive rights? Then you should have supported Hillary.

They’ll remember when they’re raped, and pimps have more rights. Afterall, prostitution is just a victimless crime, and the “girls” love being just “hos”.

Let them face how womanhood was like 200+ years ago. Needing permission from the father to marry; permission from her husband to work outside the home (let alone be educated more than being a breed mare – barefooted and pregnant wasn’t a joke). To be treated as a child with no intelligence (why she couldn’t even goto school, or take any responsibility other than having and raising the FATHER’S children).

But thanks to Ayers et al, these kids learned that sex sales; having kids out of wedlock is “normal”; and like Freud, any problems with that concept is related to the woman’s “poor self-esteem” (not treating herself with respect, and the rammifications of treating her body like a seminal vessel).

Nope, don’t even need to be a feminist to know what’s important.

Vote for Obama, and let the pimp use you as yet another seminal vessel. You’ve been educated to believe it’s “sexy” and “kewl” afterall.

You are correct. I am so sick and tired of Obama supporters trying to fearmonger me into supporting Obama because of Roe and the supreme court. If they gave a crap about Roe they wouldn’t have been so selfish as to choose an unelectable fool.

I fought for our rights before we had any, so don’t come whining to me if you’re too busy toking off the hope bong to preserve them.

Honestly, uppity, you’d think the boys would have SOME perception of reality, what does Larry’s work involve, WHY were people so angry about Plame?

The “elite” bloggers really don’t grasp the psychology of some ME guy who would rape you, say, as a man, and then drill holes in your skull, for fun.

Meet Sadaam’s crew.

And they somehow missed maybe the CIA trains around this?

Can’t they evaluate their enemy? And knowing this lil tactic of the smear, don’t they consider taking control of it involves trolling the actors? Or do they think they’re the only boys in the world?

I would think guys like Saddam are the kinda people Valerie Plame dealt with in her work, and she, or any other, is going to be afraid of a bunch of gossipy “girls,” who’ve never dealt with anything more fearful than the PX at a German air force base?

Funny, in terms of having NO IDEA about the psychology of others, but attacking anyway…

Comment by Anne | 2008-05-09 19:52:57

In response to Roe vs Wade question. The Supreme Court currently leans right 5 to 4. The conservatives include Alito, Roberts, Scalia, Thomas and Kennedy. The liberal judges are Stevens, Breyer, Ginsburg and Souter. The time to change the make-up of the court occurred before the last election – remember Renquist was a conservative and O’Connor was the swing vote.

So this particular intimidation does not have any merit – its bogus.

Comment by yttik | 2008-05-09 20:11:23

Correct. It’s also bogus because Harry Andrew Blackmun was a Nixon appointee. I can’t remember the exact number, but the majority of the Justices were not liberal and were not Democratic appointees.

I’ve learned over time that women’s rights are not necessarily protected by one party or the other. Voting Dem is no guarentee that your rights will be protected. Well heck, look at progressives and their sudden fondness for misogyny.

These Obamabrats and trolls have absolutely refused to vet their candidate or look at truth..i will not be used as their escape goat..how do any of us know what he will do? he destroyed his whole record in ILL. What a freaking joke…be careful for what you wish for obamabrats..you will be getting a crook who will make Bush look good in Obama!

i am tired of trying to protect them!

let them cover their own asses..but i assure you..the disenfranchisement and the Obama race baiting of we whites and hispanics will kick this guy in the ass!

For goodness sake the guy talks about race baiting in his book!..it has nothing to do with the color of this mans skin..it has to do with his character..and his own blue print of what he planned to do.

The Dems in Congress have allowed the GOP to chip away at Roe for over 20 years. Besides Roe is still here after 8 years of Reagan, 4 of Bush I and 8 of Bush II. McCain isn’t going to change anything.

Nice effort over the past couple days of appealing to the female voter though, even though you spent the past couple of months spitting on them.

Cruz, don’t appease these idiots. Let em vote for McCain becaues they certainly won’t be able to vote for Hillary. They have this complex that the world (MSM) is against them. It’s a suspended reality of a world that they live in. Here’s the facts:

FL and MI – Hill knew what the rules were when she got in the contest and openly acknowledges this – FACT

She’s now trying to have those rules changed to her benefit – FACT

Hill’ own group stated at the beginning that this was a race for delegates, yet every other day they try to come up with a different metric to measure her failure – FACT lol

She’s behind, with little to no chance to catch up, in popular vote, states won, and delegates – FACT

But you can’t convince anyone on this board of any of this. Trul Fantasy Island. Tatoo.. lol

Comment by Hope | 2008-05-09 21:43:50

Maybe if you lived in Florida, it would be more of a concern asshole.

As a voter in Florida, I could give two shits what the Democratic party agreed to.

We voted in record numbers in Florida, and we want are votes to matter.

I thought the Democratic party stood for fairness. Obviously, it only stands for fairness when it sees fit.

The DNC is wrong about not counting the votes in Florida. They will be sorry come election time because people like myself take voting seriously, and we will never vote for anyone that overtly or covertly (Obama) disenfranchises our votes. The Democrats need Florida to win the general election. The DNC’s actions are the kiss of death to a Democratic win in this state. It serves the party right.

Comment by zzzot | 2008-05-09 22:43:19

JM I don’t see how Florida delegates won’t get seated. In fact I’m sure they will. But Shrill Hill is using Florida like a longshoreman uses a hooker on payday. She’ll use this EXCUSE as long as she can and only so long as she can get hers. She doesn’t give a shit about that disenfranchisement crap she’s been spouting.

Comment by Kathy | 2008-05-10 11:38:12

She should get her votes. I voted for her here in Florida. No one has a right to screw with my vote and that includes the DNC. If they wanted to punish the Florida dems, there are other ways to punish. You don’t touch an American’s right to vote. Is that understood by everyone. If you know anything about this country, you know that each American’s vote is sacred. Ask any immigrant who has lived in a country with a dictator.

Comment by zzzot | 2008-05-09 23:45:02

Another one of Barry’s delusional fanboys. They are all drunk on Barry’s special brand of Kool-Aid this week. They actually believe that Barry is going to be president, so as you can imagine, the months ahead are going to be quite rough for them. They will be flailing around desperately looking for anyone to blame for Barry’s inevitable crash and burn.

Comment by Patrick Walker | 2008-05-09 20:10:38

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-09 20:17:32

Who cares who they blame? They always find somebody to blame for their own shortcomings. The important thing is that he goes down in flames. He will be forgotten in a flash which is exactly what he deserves. The political graveyard is littered with whiners like him. There NOBODY weaker than a person who won’t take responsibility for his own crap. They guy is a slug.

Right now on Fox they are talking about the perfect target michelle’s mouth is. that will be somebody else’s fault too. Somebody made her nasty.

Comment by john | 2008-05-09 20:52:23

Again, respectfully, only one in 20 or so of you actually answered my question (”What are you all going to do when she concedes, vote for McCain?”) and frankly, her own highest ranking campaign officers have declared this race over by mid-June. Given the math, she will concede. I don’t think the people here are ready to accept that yet.

What I find disturbing is the sheer degree of outright seething hatred that pervades this web site. It’s extremely negative and I can’t help but wonder how many of the posters I’ve read here this afternoon have ever voted in a Democratic primary before. They get raucus, but normally avoid the really deep and festering hate being vented on this web site.

Anyways, my question HAS been answered, by the posts that emerged in response. Best of luck to you all, I hope your outlook improves and that unify against McCain behind any Democratic candidate that emerges, a candidate likely to be B.O. Have a good night, all of you -

We are not going to change, as we feel no reason to whatsoever as our beliefs are strongly held. We don’t need you to “save” us either as we don’t subscribe to hero worship. When you encounter an Obama supporter in your offline life, do you tell that person to “shut the fuck up?”

I went to lunch with a co-worker yesterday who supports Clinton. We had a nice discussion, agreeing that the real need is to beat McCain, and speculating as to how the national party will manage to resolve the Floridaa nd Michigan delegations somehow. It was very nice to talk to him. He didn’t tell anyone to “shut the fuck up” and I don’t think you do, offline, either.

Actually, this site has just become majorly vocal upon hearing that Obama is going to proclaim victory on May 20…before the Primaries are over, before the decision about Florida and Michigan. I can only speak for myself when I say I am absolutely sick of Obama crap and MSM crap and DNC crap. I used to blog at “that other site” I began to notice that it was increasingly unfair to Hillary. I couldn’t even make a positive statement about her without being attacked by a dozen Obama supporters. Then I noticed that all of the people I listed as favorites had not posted in over a month. So I began looking around to see if there was a site more favorable to Hillary. That’s when I discovered NoQuarter. It has been very pleasant until yesterday, when Obama supporters came in and began their harrassing, ridiculing campaign.

Comment by zzzot | 2008-05-09 23:56:20

Judy, Judy, Judy… the truth is, that if Hill somehow pulls out the unthinkable at this point, I would still vote for her in Nov. No matter what I thought about how she got there. Don’t think for one second that the hatchet job that the Repubs are gonna do to Obama that they weren’t just licking their chops to do the same to Hill. Look, I’ll even concede the fact that at the beginning of the primary the press (and your now beloved FOX included) was noticeably against Hill. But that’s changed and Hill lost fair and square. What disgust me about much of you is the McCain is our man now mentality.

Comment by Judith | 2008-05-10 00:18:57

zzzot, Perceptions are interesting. We are all amazed and astounded when others don’t see the same good things pertaining to a person or situation that we do. Perhaps those of us who are not receptive to Obama are just tired of the cyber bullying and the media bullying. We have a vested interest in our candidate and she has been mistreated…so have we. You cannot relate to that because your candidate has received every benefit this election season. Have you forgotten the debates in October? Hillary got all of the “hard” questions, the rest were asked what their Halloween costumes would be. I was a loyal Democrat and will remain so until the end of the Primary. However, I feel that my style might be better suited as an Independent. I want the candidates to earn my vote…and not just expect me to fall in line. I also truly believe we need a 3rd party…more Centrist. That’s where most of us truly live. But it is fun to spar in jest, eh?

Comment by zzzot | 2008-05-10 00:52:55

Yes it is fun. And I didn’t see the early debates I was out of the country. But I know this about McCain:
1)We will go to war with Iran
2)There will be a draft (he so much as said so)
3)Roe v Wade will be in danger
4)We will continue to sink good money after bad in order to “win” a war that has no clear definition of what winning entails.

Anybody but John..

They always find somebody to blame for their own shortcomings.

Eternal victimhood. Then they wonder why their lot is worse than their parents? Having to live at home after college, and relying on mom and pop to not only help pay to be brainwashed; but for the loan on their home, too.

The important thing is that he goes down in flames.

Read comments on my paper this morning. The Neo-Cons were extra cocky. Which means they’re all rested and ready to take Obama down (denied Hillary, and only one source of meat, the dogs will be more than happy to take BIG bites into that skinny piece of chicken). :D

As much as I can’t stand Neo-Cons, they are good for one thing, tearing up their Dem opponent. Need to get some more Milk-Bones, as the doggies will stray without snacks……

I don’t know about “no Democrat will speak to her” but given that this year is the biggest chance in the last twenty years for the Democrats to coast into the White House against a demoralized and discredited Republican Party, if Clinton is perceived as being a primary reason for a President-elect McCain, her Congressional future is in doubt. The national party has to play as a team, that’s how parties function.

As silly as the Ko& types thinking they can intimidate the CIA.

Everyone, every thread on this site has to do with legitimate issues facing this country, any SANE person understands neither McCain nor Obama is capable of the job, corruption is crippling the government, yet here you are, thinking it’s business as usual.

Why?

And, yes, the library is open, I know, but let me save you the time:

Checking her demographics, yes, only she can deliver.

You Latte Liberals don’t understand, politics don’t get done unless the locals approve. Hillary has a large swath of local approval, in BIG states that has more representatives. She can also get help from the GOP — or they know she can bleed them dry of more votes.

Took the kitchen sink appoach to figure the real issues folks are interested in, and it worked with little help from the MSM (who wants to dictate the “concerns” of this nation).

I think of swift boating, and the one person who seemed to transcend it was Princess Diana, she was able to counter the image despite the exploitation of her personal life.

I compare that to John Kerry, and I think the failure had to do with his basic personality, he does not inspire confidence, he is simply NOT a leader, despite how he was portrayed.

But really DID the swift boating make a difference?

Clinton has been HAMMERED, they even opened a couple of more Obama kool aid stands this week, and she’s still competitve.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-05-09 22:10:35

Comment by BBB | 2008-05-09 22:27:20

Raymo – you and a few others here seem to emphasize your race a lot. I don’t want to have a conflict with you, I think this race has been horribly negative and empty. However, let me repost your comment back to you with just a few words changed in the hopes that you will understand how you come across:

“hey raymo? I’d rather scrape my eyeballs out with my car keys than vote for Hill. I’ll be writing in Obama on my ballot come November. But don’t worry–I’m one of those bitter middle class men that Taylor Marsh’s Democratic party doesn’t need anymore. So you’ll be just fine I’m sure.”

I think that the race has become a circular firing squad, a conflict of the most troublesome and divisive identity politics in the party. It’s really sad. While I know you can’t accept my support for BO, I am hoping that we can agree that the divisiveness in this campaign has been bad for everyone.

Comment by Kathy | 2008-05-10 11:49:42

The division in this campaign happened when Jesse Jackson, Jr. got on television and called Bill Clinton a racist. It all went to hell after that. Obama’s organization started to whine over everything and that was the end of that.

I see Obama’s Mission Accomplished stunt on January 20th making him look like a clown. He doesn’t have the delegates to get the nomination and this Chicago style bluff makes him look ridiculous. The media will love it but the American people will see through it.

So 2 years in the Senate before running for President? Caucuses where he bussed people in to vote for him–Encouraging Republicans to be a Democrat for a Day–after a year and a half he still offers nothing but HOPE. Oh yeah this is going to go down really well with a country whose economy is in free fall.

Enough stunts — its time to start getting serious about the issues people care about. Obama however, only cares about himself.

Valerie and Joe Wilson are Americans of the highest order. Valerie’s job was to uncover nuclear proliferation in the ME and the BU$H admin. sunk that ship before it sailed and thusly was able to press for that war we can’t end.
Joe was, of course the Ambassador in Iraq during the 1st gulf war and helped secure the safe removal of many USA personnel and civilians out from the roof.
There are 2 very serious Patriots. Along with Joe and Valerie, stand at least 30 military brass and 2 Joint Chiefs… They stand with Hill. She is certainly the best choice for CIC. How can anyone dispute it?
So, how in the world can obama be the presumptive nominee?

Colin Powell took the same stance to Wright as Obama did:
(Via ABC News: http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/Vote2008/Story?id=4622268&page=4)

Returning to presidential politics, Powell condemned controversial remarks by Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor of 20 years, as “deplorable” but complimented the Democratic candidate for his speech on race that followed in the aftermath.

“Rev. Wright is also somebody who has made enormous contributions in his community and has turned a lot of lives around,” Powell said, “And so, I have to put that in context with these very offensive comments that he made, which I reject out of hand.”

If Obama were the one slightly behind Clinton at this point not one of them would have the balls to tell him to get out and then make fun of his candidacy, life and supporters. Courage indeed.

Perhaps we could concentrate on how Larry has given us information that was not available in the media, has done us a good turn by being a very good resourse of information. Again, I’m naive, but I really think that we should all be concentrating on supporting Larry, as this cannot be pleasant for him. Forgive me if you think I’m out of line, but think. This could be part of a concentrated campaign to discredit people who have some influence, and we’ve all seen what happens when bloggers, however insignificant, start a blog war – it tends to spread and get viral. IMHO opinion, this has only a peripheral relationship to the Obama campaign. It is much more invested in what one can say about another without being held to account, and that should concern everyone.

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-09 20:17:57

Well, yes, but if Larry is telling the truth (which he is), the bloggers are trying to prove a negative, which in fact proves Larry’s premise.

See?

But Larry seems real strong, and maybe “those elite bloggers” aren’t so, um, hot.

Larry in his counter terrorism work has to see maybe even has to deal with murderers, real murderers and torturers, groups of the sort of Hezbollah.

WTH is K$$?
Beside out of touch?

It’s getting to be a joke. But I hope they keep it up! I makes so many people hardly be able to WAIT to vote against Barky.

Comment by zzzot | 2008-05-09 22:53:36

Comment by Norman | 2008-05-09 20:40:31

No, Deidre, don’t. It’s a nice gesture but you’re throwing away your vote.
We may all have to hold our noses and vote for McCain.
He’s the lesser of the two evils.

Obama is getting cozy on the news alluding the possibility of VP for Hillary.
Beware, folks. This could come.
Once again, I repeat,I will not vote for Hillary should she be in any way attached to Obama.

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-09 20:57:07

I agree, I see him as a traitor, Axelrove’s tactics alone a national security issue.

This isn’t about political pragmatism, this is about abolishing a system of corruption that leads to 9.11 type violence.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-09 21:45:46

No way I would vote for him. he could pick my mother for VP and I wouldn’t vote for him. I did a post on this. I personally don’t think Hillary would be his bridesmaid. How many of us have seen this in industry? The superior woman second to the mediocre man, propping him up? I say let him go down in flames and come back in four years after he is relegated to the political trash heap where he belongs. No way. VPs can’t do the damage presidents can do. And Obama has a big red flag on his forhead.

Comment by Shining in GA | 2008-05-09 22:46:57

Thank you, Larry, for this site! Thank you, Uppity, for always saying what I wish I’d said!

I’ve been reading here for months but never posted.

I’m a “typical Hillary supporter,” white woman of a certain age. However, I am also degreed, a professional, and live in a large city. My roots are in the South, working class. I always voted Democrat UNTIL OBAMA! I am saying this for the first time in public! I will vote for McCain!

I have lost sleep. I have shed tears over how my party has treated a great American, Hillary Rodham Clinton! She has worked harder than anyone, not only to ensure the success of the Democratic party that is viciously trying to put her down, but more importantly to improve the lives of the people who work hardest in this country.

I so much don’t want to see Hillary accept the VP. It would be still another strong woman doing all the work and a weak man getting all the credit. It would set women back 50 years! Thank God for the men I read on this site who understand this.

I can’t tell you how grateful I am for this site and for the sanity. I come here for support for my beliefs, to feel some hope for the country, and to feel safe. Just had to vent! Thank you!

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-05-10 01:09:02

I never wanted them on the same ticket. In either order. I doubt she’d take it. People aren’t stupid. They know, save for Cheney. VPs have virtually no power. And a lot of people still won’t vote with him especially at the top of the ticket.

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-05-10 01:05:29

Comment by Mr.Murder | 2008-05-09 20:23:54

PS- Trying to plausibly assemble outright spin alongside legitmate concerns about the background of people Obama associates with, who would justify being denied clearance were he a civil resume, isn’t a null presentation.

One side does it because the actual conversations steer that way in light of information.

The other does it to disclaim both items, when the facts are what they are, and he’s associated with people who have no business being in confidence of our President. Rezko is Chalabi on steroids. Ditto Alsammarae/Auchi.

For that matter, I’ve yet to see Obama ever balance a budget. That’s a legitmate election issue, but someone would rather fetch the fainting couch over racism when they actually made it a discussion topic while claiming to be Mr.High Road.

You support outside one voting audience, and in ever demographic, is fading. So the directive of Axelrod is to make it about process, get people in fights over feelings, distract from his decline by any means….

Larry,
Please advise on the case in Texas wherein Houston Police Department shot dead the man Roland Carnaby, aka “Tony”. He sped away after initially being pulled over reportedly for speeding (can we FOIA if there was an APB on his vehicle?). He led police (and unmarked vehicles) on a high speed chase which culminated in his being shot in the back by an officer as Mr. Carnaby reached for his cellphone. He flashed “CIA credentials”. He phoned both Houston Police, as well as FBI while he ran. He served as president of the American Federation of Intelligence Officers in Houston. As president of AFIO, he introduced former FBI agent Don Clark in February, 2007; however, Clark denied knowing Roland Carnaby. Instead, Don Clark asserted he knew him as “Tony”.

I’m most curious just wtf may be happening in Houston?

Comment by Larry Johnson | 2008-05-09 20:42:24

A bit off topic, but the first problem is that CIA officers don’t carry “CREDS” (aka credentials for you lay folk). Creds is law speak for a badge. If he was “flashing” creds he certainly was not CIA of any kind. AFIO allows law enforcement types as members. He may have been part of AFIO but was not CIA.

All this hoopala about the comment she made today about Barry not being able to get the white vote.. I never heard such BullS***! she spoke the truth damn you! Why do you think that?

That would be disappointing, he’s a traitor(Auchi, Rezko, Ayers et al ), and a stupid one at that.

You can’t put political pragmatism ahead of national security, ever, too bad.

The politicians in our government should not be the enemy, here, dealing with and taking money from men who sell arms to others who, say, bomb the world trade center, for instance.

Comment by Dora Ratquila | 2008-05-09 21:21:57

I don’t presume to know what’s in the mind of HRC. But if I were in her shoes, I would not accept it. Other than the politics of addition, it just does not make sense for her to become a President-in-Waiting in an Obama administration that is being proposed to the American electorate.

I doubt that his supporters will, too, as evidenced by a recent statement from Ted Kennedy. To these fanatical anti-Hillary supporters – and special mention goes to Claire McCaskill – isn’t HRC worse than a modern-day “whore of Babylon” to their wing of the Democratic Party? I digress but I never heard a syllable of protest from Team Obama when the “Bros before Hos” shirt came out shortly after Super Tuesday.

HRC’s values are simply unacceptable to the Obamans; she is downright centrist and populist. Proof: No clandestine meetings with the Canadians on NAFTA or with the HAMAS for God-knows-what! No anti-American preacher (or ex-preacher) or retired terrorist-supporters, too!

And given HRC’s smarts, she won’t allow herself and the Clinton brand name to be identified with McGovern Part Deux (pronounced “duh”)! Bill won’t allow it. And neither will she.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-09 21:52:48

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-09 21:50:10

If she does, she’s foolish. For one thing, she would be carrying the vote water for that slug. I still won’t vote for him. And when he goes down, she will go down with him. Look what happened to John Edwards. He ran for VP an now he can’t get traction.

Comment by Bob Sakowski | 2008-05-09 22:14:46

Wow, I never thought about this before, because I thought it was unthinkable.

Let’s let Roe v Wade be overturned.

Then what would happen?

What would the youngsters do?

Maybe we need a new generation of feminists.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-09 21:57:50

Well maybe then these younger girls will understand how hard everyone else fought for them and remember not to swoon over a sexy empty suit again when it comes to the important business of electing a president. Maybe then they will wake up and do a little fighting for themselves and maybe then they will understand how tenuous their “equality” really is to a pig like Obama. It’s downright shameful how they are losing their own self respect spawning over this jerk. He’s using them. Calling them “honey”. Making cracks about his vibrating cell phone. What a degrading pig. Younger women grew up with their “rights” all there for them, and they have NO IDEA how easy it is to lose them to a sexist pig of a president. In America, shit rolls downhill in corporations. The attitude of the president is critical. To imagine that being vigilant is “so yesterday!” is to be a fool.

Comment by katmandu | 2008-05-09 21:20:26

I guess I should reply to Kay. You don’t state the reason for your question, but let me assure you that many sober, responsible, progressive Democrats greatly fear Barack Obama being our commander-in-chief. We are not paranoids, or secret Republicans, but in many cases “old hands” Democrats who think Obama may be a danger, and at the very least, a candidate who will end up getting trounced a la Dukakis and McGovern. (By the way, I greatly admire the latter — he just was a poor choice to run for president.)

I’m looking at a state like West Virginia, the next primary, which can be won with the right candidate. Five electoral votes, critical in a close election. Bush got 57% against John Kerry, who has the type of persona that does not go over in middle America.

There were 46 electoral votes in the “coal triangle” of KY, PA and OH. Obama likely will lose all three states. The Democrats cannot win without getting states like these.

Why don’t you leave your conspiracy theory in your frat house, or dorm room….in fact, why don’t you come to Chicago, my house, and we can talk facts about why Barry’s a joke.

The YES WE CAN! strategy hasn’t accomplished shit in Chicago where we have had 22 public school children gunned down this year…where we have had almost as many civilians murdered, in chicago, this year, as we have had soldiers killed in Iraq…wake up homie…come on over, I’ll show you the real Chi-town, and it ain’t pretty…..you ain’t seen corrupt or broken, till you come here.

Put out an email telling supporters and prospective supporters that Bill Clinton was responsible for the loss of a Democrat controlled Congress. Never mention ABSCAM, the House Banking Scandal, and Tip O’Niel’s squashing any investigation.
Obamatons have accused Bill Clinton of ending welfare as it was envisioned under Johnson’s Great Society. What they didn’t tell you was the mood of the country after incidents like this.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., Reginald Denny, a white truck driver stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Florence and South Normandie Avenues, was dragged from his vehicle and severely beaten by a mob of local African-American residents as news helicopters hovered above, recording every blow, including a concrete fragment connecting with Denny’s temple and a cinder block thrown at his head as he lay unconscious in the street.

from wikipedia.
Republican would have ended welfare altogether if they could have.
Most of the Obamatons were watching Sesame Street while this stuff was going on.

Most of the Obamatons were watching Sesame Street while this stuff was going on.

But at least they have their youth to blame for their stupidity, there is still hope.

Image this same level of thought, this same inability to critically think, in a republican troll, or any given idiot who works for Cheney, or Bush.

You know how easy it would be to screw with an idiot head like that in a war? And the guys running it think at the same level of the idiot troll, buzzing this site.

And now they want to put another one in office?

For real, that’s how you lose a war.

The trolls are worried thats why they are out replete with cheesypuffs and Barky’s approved talking points.

They don’t like Hillary staying in.

It makes their thug from Chicago look less than a winner especially when Hillary wins big in West Virginia.

It calls into question Barkey’s electability.

That is not allowed.

In fact, the hallmark of effective CIA “covert action” efforts is based on truth, not lies.

Love the game “Deus Ex”. Because it’s also true that the best conspiracy yarns have some basis of fact (and that game had some true outcomes just a year later — from the twin towers; to the police state after 9/11).

Unfortunately, the CIA has/had some blackops that marred it’s reputation — MKULTRA — for example. Stuff like that, and the gray ops in Iraq, hurts more than helps, as the CIA becomes the boogeyman, not the eyes/ears of intel to help.

Hopefully, the Agency will do more good than harm (as all it takes is a gungho president to do some serious damage, not only to citizens but to the CIA, too), and not become what MI5 and MI6 became — a haven for foreign spies kneecapping their intelligence gathering, and feeding internal intel to enemy agents.

I got an email from Chelsea….about her mother. Really nice and of course it was tied into a donation if possible. But the nice thing about it was a suggestion to give a donation in memory or in honor of our Mothers. My Mother was a big time Clinton fan and loved Hillary. I have a great picture of my Mother reading Hillary’s book. My brother sent her the picture and she sent a very gracious letter to my Mother who was disabled at that time. She had the letter framed with the picture in her room until the day she died. So in honor of my feminist Mother who marched and lobbied for the ERA, and Abortion Rights, I sent another donation. What better way to honor my Mom. I told my kids to never mind a gift for Mother’s Day. Just send a donation to Hillary. I don’t need anything as much as I need Hillary to show them what courage and class looks like. Go Hillary!

Obama’s ties to Ayers, Auchi, and Rezko are vile on so many levels it completely discredits his entire campaign platform. The fact that Obama was launched in Ayer’s living room and through all that stuttering for an answer. The best he can manage to get out, basically insults my intelligence by dismissing it’s importance, and the facts as I know them.

Sorry that isn’t going to fly. In fact, I’m tired of the race baiting, passive aggressive, victim techniques he has pulled. Essentially requiring everyone to pull their political punches so as not to upset Obama’s delicate sensibilities while he and everyone else in his campaign are punching below the belt.

I’m tired of the disingenuous level of debate he engages in, and you know it won’t quit at the primary. His Admin would be filled with this technique. That isn’t transparency, that is failing to accept responsibility for your actions. A Bush trait.

Having Ayers in his background is strangely perfect. Just like Obama claims he is anti-war, but his actions/votes/Powers deny it. We have Ayers who claims he is anti-war, anti-capitalism, and anti govt. Yet, that clown has always been contradictory. On YouTube, he is there with his wife saying ‘down with capitalism…..buy my book’. HUH?

Then you research that his dad was CEO of a power utility, which was bought by Exelon, and Ayers is probably sporting some stock since it seems like his job with the University is tied to dad also. So, on those same videos he is against the govt, but his Exelon stock is heavily government subsidized and so is his job. Nevermind the fact, that Exelon is having issues with it’s nuclear waste, and wants to force it on to Yucca Mountain in NV. So, we run into another of Obama’s lies while uncovering this contradiction of Ayers. Obama claims he is against Yucca Mountain, when it is clear he isn’t going to do anything about it. Please, who really thinks that Obama could do anything to stop it? No one…but still he lies while Exelon lines his pockets. Frankly, Exelon should have figured out the nuclear waste issue in their own business plan and not force it down several states throats.

Which brings us to Ayers’ last contradictory rant about being anti-war. That man and his wife did more to discredit the anti-war movement than anyone on earth. When black and white folks were coming together to produce major changes in civil rights. That didn’t happen because black folks were blowing up buildings to prove their point. It was because of the peaceful protest which made a glaring contrast to the police treatment. That ability to effect change was what help bring various people together again to protest against the war. Until Ayers and his wife blew that all apart with their random off the wall statements, like ‘kill all rich people, kill your parents’. No one wanted to be connected to such utter nonsense, and that was before they went ‘underground’. Those two loved cameras in their faces more than they ever cared about stopping the war. No matter how much they want to romanticize their contribution to the ending war. I think they actually made it go on longer, and they definitely helped to get Nixon into the White House. Which as most know, brought us Cheney and Rummy as well…and of course this horrible war.

Just to help prove my point even more. When they did go underground and start blowing up buildings. Let me ask you, have any of you been in a govt building during the 70s? They were old even then.

So, they blew up old goverment buildings with no one in them. Which means the building or lobby was remodeled. Score! They had their budgets increased for the extra security and investigative resources. Double score! And their department wouldn’t be subject to trying to justify their increased budget during war time. Score…yet again! And this ended the war earlier….how? Geez…I bet most govt buildings were begging to be remodeled…uh I mean bombed.

Seriously, if this wasn’t a planned govt op to discredit hippies, college students, and anti-war activists….then it was their wet dream come true.

As I said earlier, no one wanted to be associated with that type of protest that made no sense. If anything those two clowns even bare some responsibility for protesters who are willingly placed behind barbed wire in an attempt to prove they are not like Ayers and his wife. They aren’t ‘that type’ of anti-war protester.

They both helped to steal the belief from Americans that continued peaceful protest could effect huge changes.

I will never support anyone with ties to that vile man.

Nevermind the fact, they were no better than the govt they complained about with their all-night-break-down-societial-programming-bs. Psst….to the rest of us that is called brainwashing. And how exactly is that better than what society did to them? Because when I look at Ayers, not only is he asking for more than his share of govt funding for his job, his investments, his friends, all the while living his comfy societial life. He is a man who never had to pay for his crimes thanks to the system he claims, and benefits, to oppose.

More contradictions with Ayers…everywhere you look.

The same applies to Obama….contradictions everywhere you look.

…and through all his knowledge and experience and recognition, he took the time to stop the bus and let all of us disenfranchised men and women hop on so that he could help us not only stop barack Obama, but find a refuge where we could support and defend a superior woman against a mediocre man. Larry, you are a true hero. And whatever happens in the end, I want you to know that should you ever need any of my skills or experience, I would volunteer my time to you in a flash.

Hey, all of you that say you will write in Hillary’s name in the GE, you’d better check your state rules and make sure that it will count if you do that. In some states it counts and in others, it doesn’t. Just remember, if a write-in of Hillary’s name doesn’t count in your state then doing it is just giving McCain one less vote, or like not voting at all. If you really don’t want Barky to be the next POTUS then your vote must count! Vote McCain or make sure your write-in of Hillary’s name counts for something. Please, please don’t let Barky and big-mouth Michelle take the White House.

Actually Larry you’re lying once again.
You have hid behind aliases on quite a
few occasions.
And you’re well known for running some
very dishonest smear campaigns.

You’re a pretty evil guy Larry.
Or perhaps you’re going by the name
Robert Prechter today.

What in the hell is this about? I read this site once in awhile and generally it makes sense even though some facts are either exaggerated or ignored (I would assume that to be a CIA thing.) The general gist of Mr. Johnson’s argument is cogent. However, anyone who would purposely join the republican party at this time or piss and moan and throw a grownup sized temper tantrum with threats of voting for “the only person I can think of that would be worse than BUSH” because Clinton is not, I repeat, NOT going to win the nomination is not grounded in the reality I have experienced since Nixon. I would say Goldwater, but he was so bug fuck crazy LBJ waltzed into the WH in a land slide.
Let us review a few facts.
1. Nixon was a criminal
2. Ford’s pardon signaled to the other crooks (R)that they could get away with anything and that laws mean absolutely frickin nothing to these greedy lying murdering thieves.
3. St. Reagan presided over the biggest rip off the taxpayer (S&L scandal) since nobody. Hoover (R) had Teapot Dome though.
4. St. Reagan’s administration were criminals. Iran-Contra and the October Surprise to name just two.
5. Funny how that pardon thing pops up at the same time every time. Hint: 1976, 1992, I’m going to make a prediction that 2008 will set a record for the number and seriousness of the pardons Bush will issue.
6. If a republican says something, they are either projecting, denying or distracting (if not out and out lying.) Their grasp of mob psychology would be considered masterful if it wasn’t based on greed, fear and hate.
7. Obama and Clinton are both centrists with similar ideas and voting records. St BBQ is a two faced, flip flopping, side of the neck talking con man who is in bed with the PACS and is sure to continue: the purging of the Treasury, policies that put more and more burdens on the under class (right, UNDER CLASS because there truly are only two economic classes.) A continuation of Bush’s Folly and a possible McCain’s Folly to follow in his “100 years of War” mantra. The final gutting of The Constitution as the oligarchy (MNC) will be firmly entrenched, the privatization of JUSTICE as he will probably get to choose two Justices.
I don’t believe any issue facing either dem candidate compares qualitatively with any of the REAL problems of this country. Hell, sure as there are no more Raygun Democrats (I call them republicans) we will have a new group of haters arising. They will violently deny their bigotry or arrogantly defend their ignorance and they will never acknowledge the truth. I will call these new seekers of the mundane, The Clinton Republicans.
I do hope your Absorption into the collective goes well. Getting upset and calling people names because of an alias is a sign Mr. Johnson, a sign that you have lost the argument; “all sound and fury, no substance.”

Go tell yourself that you have the moral high ground. Go explain to those like you that there is something wrong with everyone else. In November when the votes come up short, there may be some satisfaction in your superiority, but when the nation is sitting through four years of McCain, don’t kid yourself that you had nothing to do with it. I heard lots of “leftists” pat themselves on the back four years ago because they don’t vote. Bit lot of satisfaction they received I am sure. There are tons of places where you will be raised on bony, narrowm juvenile shoulders for your platitudes. It doesn’t take much intellectual sleight of hand to impress the potitical novice. Take your comments there, please.

BTW, Clintonites, I am an independent and I have never voted for a republican and only once did I vote democrat (1988). So shove your “he’s an Obama lover,” mobius strip up your fat asses. I never realized St. Ronald left so many of his children behind. You shall be delivered in due time though and maybe I might just join the democratic party. That is if you “have the courage to stand up for what you believe.”
I see this election as more important than any other if only because another republican administration will cement national policies that I find abhorrent and seal this pathetic country’s legacy. History will not be kind to our past as torturers, murderers and thieves. The only thing exceptional about the US is the delusional cloud you live under if you buy that line of bullshit.
Greatest country evah!!!

This is a classic non-denial denial.

No where does he say: “I was not source for the Mcl. article. The former CIA operative mentioned is not me.”

So we are left with assumption it was LJ.
