Backlash has Begun: 72% Say Media Should Stop Trying to Annoint Obama
By Deb Cupples on May 18, 2008 at 9:21 PM in Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Media, Media Bias, Obamedia
This from PEW Research Center:
"[T]he public is sending a strong message to journalists and pundits: It is too early to declare, as some already have, that the race is over.
"Fully 72% of the public – including comparable percentages of Democrats, Republicans and independents – say that journalists should not be anointing Obama as the Democratic nominee at this stage in the race. Just 20% say that journalists should be doing this."
Apparently, the 20% who support the media’s ethically questionable interference with the Democratic race are people 1) who have forgotten recent history, e.g., the media’s selling of the Iraq war to gullible taxpayers; or 2) who haven’t yet grasped concepts like slippery slope or potential for abuse.
Or maybe they’re so intensely preoccupied with seeing "their" candidate win that they don’t care about how he does it or the long-term consequences of a "victory" via media fiat.
The first time I noticed Obama-friendly media calling for Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race was in February, about a week before she won Ohio’s and Texas’s primaries. Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter led the chorus, urging Hillary to drop out without participating in Ohio’s and Texas’s primaries.
In other words, he wanted Hillary to step aside so that Obama could take the nomination without breaking a sweat. This reminded many people of George Bush’s operatives, who told Al Gore to "move on" and "get over it," so that Bush could take the White House before Florida’s recount was complete.
The day after Hillary won the primaries in Ohio (by 10%) and Texas (by 4%), the Obama campaign joined Alter’s chorus — not in a courageous, upfront way, but instead by using strong implications. Below is some text from a March 5th mass-email signed by Obama Campaign Manager David Plouffe (I’ll forward the email if you email me):
"The task for the Clinton campaign yesterday was clear. In order to have a plausible path to the nomination, they needed to score huge delegate victories and cut into our lead.
"They failed.
"It’s clear, though, that Senator Clinton wants to continue an increasingly desperate, increasingly negative — and increasingly expensive — campaign to tear us down."
Notice that Plouffe lacked the intestinal fortitude to actually say "Hillary has no chance, she should drop out." That’s likely because such an absurd and arrogant-sounding pronouncement (coming from a campaign official) would have inspired fierce criticism of Obama, himself.
Subtlety aside, the phrase "increasingly desperate" made the Obama campaign’s message clear to all who had received Plouffe’s email: Hillary should drop out.
From a win-at-any-cost perspective, it seems logical that Obama wanted Hillary to drop out before the last primary in June. If she were to quit, she would have no chance of pulling ahead in the popular vote. Some super-delegates might commit to (or switch to) Hillary if she has the popular-vote lead in June.
Of course the Obama campaign wanted Hillary to drop out weeks ago, and his supporters in the media unabashedly tried to push her out.
Obama, himself, remained oddly silent for more than three weeks after Plouffe made the campaign’s position clear. During Obama’s silence, the Hillary-should-drop-out message swelled to a thunderous crescendo in the media.
After the absurd talking point had become an accepted part of our national discourse (i.e., after damage was done), Obama finally stepped up and publicly said that he’s fine with Hillary’s staying in the race. This he did during a March 30th speech.
In short, Obama represented himself as a reasonable guy who wanted to see the rest of America’s Democratic voters have a say — another example of the clashing of image and reality.
The rancid whipped cream on the sundae: most media failed to notice the clash between Obama’s March 30th speech the campaign’s March 5th stance (as evinced in David Plouffe’s email).
It reminds me of the false racism-accusations that were hurled at Hillary before primaries in South Carolina and North Carolina (states with heavy African American populations). Nobody from the Obama campaign publicly accused Hillary of racism. Instead, they relied on prominent supporters (like Rep. James Clyburn) to hurl the accusations for them.
And Obama sat silently on the bleachers with his hands in his pockets, where they would remain unstained by the flying mud.
That’s how Obama’s campaign has repeatedly played the game: indirect attacks, technicalities, misleading statements, and hypocrisy.
Are those the sort of tactics that we want a president to employ? Haven’t we already seen enough damage from the current White House occupant’s use of such tactics?

Even 20% who they should continue is scary
that 20 percent include the media and his inner-underlings and I suppose a sprinkling of Hillary haters – that are holding out surviving on the HATE
all soon to be fully awakened
The media are in the tank for him and will be in the GE. We have to expose BO ourselves.
Don’t be so sure of that. They could flip to McCain. Remember, they stood by silent as Bush did his war.
They’re already giving McCain huge quantities of airtime. Anyone with insomnia problems should record his speeches for bedtime.
Barry is already telling the media what to do to McCain …
From NBC/NJ’s Athena Jones
GRESHAM, OR — McCain will be getting his fair share of scrutiny from the press, his potential general-election rival Obama said here today.
During an event with mostly senior citizens, Obama was asked why the presumptive Republican nominee had not had to deal with much media scrutiny on issues like the Keating Five scandal. The voter felt the Illinois senator’s past had gotten all the focus. Obama said he thought part of the reason was that McCain’s candidacy had been written off several months ago, but that he had been able to come back and wrap up the nomination relatively early in the primary season, and that much of the focus had been on the exciting Democratic race.
“I would expect that the press will submit him to the same scrutiny that they are submitting me — and if they don’t, I’ll have them talk to you because I can tell you would object,” he said. “I think people will lift the hood and kick the tires with John McCain, just like they do with me and just like they’ve done with Sen. Clinton. I think you’re applying for the presidency of the United States of America, then by definition you have given up your privacy and basically I think people are gonna want to know what you’ve done in your life and what you stand for.”
please let it be so. if this asshole is going to get the nomination thanks to the disgusting push by the msm, it’s only fair and appropriate that the same msm should turn on him and give the election to mccain.
would be fun to watch obama melt before our very eyes, which is what would happen if he were given even part of the withering treatment hillary has had to take. she has the “intestinal fortitude” to handle it. he doesn’t. and, despite outward appearances, i doubt if his sourpuss of a wife does either.
i’d like to see the two of them slither back to the senate, then back to illinois after he loses his senate reelection bid. i’m sure oprah will given them jobs, unless her ratings have tanked so much from associating with them that she tells them to get lost.
sadly, i think the media in the tank for obama thing won’t flip – i think they’ll keep it up. we can only hope that the truth reaches enough people anyway, despite their strongest efforts to hide it.
I doubt the Media will be in the tank for Obama in the GE. I think that McCain is the real “Media Darling”. And all the stories that are now being suppressed, will magically be reported on as fresh news. Thus, Obama is toast.
MSNBC anchors have Obiwan tingly leg syndrome
they are sooooo NOT in the tank for McKook
It will be FOX versus MSNBC and CNN again – but the names have changed from BUSH to McKook for FOX
and from Kerry to OBAmbi
they’re gonna try to push Hillary aside completely and the back fire will be like 4th of July fireworks (my prediction) the women will light up the booths and the blogs and the air waves (they already are)
I’m certainly not watching any of those bozos if Clinton isn’t the candidate.
They will lose a ton of viewers, if they do her in. Hillary is energizing and magnetic, and Obama and McSame are blah-blah-blah.
She certainly is energized, whether she’s down or up. Obama is inarticulate; yet he postures as the sure winner. It’s bizarre how he seems to be lurching from one stupid sweetie remark to the next 57 states remark.
Just odd….
And the animosity that is still pouring out of his campaign is really odd!
They’ve already lost me! I’ve been on a media blackout since January. And I don’t care if they start bashing BO, if Hillary’s not the nominee, I will not give the msm my business. I want them to lose revenue.
They tingle for Barack now, so McCain can wipe the floor with him later. They don’t want McCain to have to confront the “tough” candidate, see?
It’s a bait-n-switch. THAT’s why the media LOOOVES BO. So they can HATE him later!
Mark my words.
I wish that were so, but I don’t think so at all. I think they are in the tank strongly for Obama – my God, look at Anderson Cooper – look at Olberman, Matthews, Andrea Mitchell, Tim Russert – all these unethical journalists – they have to stay in the tank for him or lose face…just like they won’t discuss their role in marketing the Iraq war – they’re all corrupt.
I wonder if anyone like Larry thought about putting out an open S.O.S. letter to the Europen, Austrailian, Scandanavian Media to help save us from our CORRUPT U.S. MEDIA and then list their crimes (literally) from marketing the Iraq war to their complete and utter CENSORSHIP and DISTORTED image that they have portrayed about Barack Obama? It sounds grandious and theatrical, but I’m actually rather serious, because this situation is so serious. I’m talking about something that would show them for their corrupt and distorted bias (especially NBC & affiliates). I’m talking some sort of big theatrical something that would have to get some attention at least from the European media – like an full page ad in some of THEIR papers for instance?
The Michelle tape comes out.
The Rezko trial revelations make it out of Chicago.
Ayers.
Something huge.
They back off.
They are APPALLED by the candidate that Dean didn’t vet …
The only bigger phoney out there than Obamasama are the group of media whores …
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Yeah, but let’s not forget that MSNBC is 3rd in the ratings out of the three cable news networks.
Good point. Many lifetime Democrats have stopped watching MSNBC completely, meaning that MSNBC is now preaching only to the choir.
For the crucial “middle,” which Obama will need to win, MSNBC has already abdicated any influence on them that could help Obama win.
No one listens to Tweety or Keith anymore.
The media is for Obama for the same reason that the “Billionaire Republican” is against him. In a McCain vs. Obama race, Obama loses while if it is McCain vs. Clinton, Mcain loses.
I am just not so sure of that. When ever anyone writes GE meaning general election I think of GE meaning General Electric. If GE gets Obama a far as the nomination do you really think they will give up?
Betty,
I agree with you.
I hate to say it, but we might be shocked. There seems to be some determined effort by mysterious forces to get this asshole the Presidency.
i suggest going to http://www.larouchepac.com and see what’s really going on.

Barack Heusin Obama is the typical Ole Chicago Politician…of worst kind. After all the research I have found many many really bad articles about him…but haven’ t come found anything positive out of his State when he was a State Senator…wonder why???
Thanks for this.
Backlash is right. However, 75,000 showed up for an Obama rally in Oregon. *blink*
So he may, indeed, be able to offset KY with a huge win there.
If so, it becomes even more complicated.
I’ll bet a lot of those people were from Seattle or San Francisco, as it is easy enough to get to Oregon from both cities, which are probably liberal Obama strongholds. This does not mean he will win Oregon by a landslide.
Don’t be fooled by mass rallies put on by the Obama campaign. It’s all an attempt to show his mass appeal, even though many of the people who attended the rally were probably from out of state. The Obama campaign had a big rally in State College, Pennsylvania to make it appear that he had overwhelming support in PA, and he still lost by just under 10%. It’s all about the votes, and I hope it backfires on him.
He has been ahead in polls in Oregon, but he is feeling some heat there right now and needs to win that state to push his argument that he is the better choice. If he loses in Oregon, then is campaign is in deep jeopardy. Hillary would get a boost if she were to win, but she wasn’t expected to do so there.
Obama’s rally is an expression of his campaign’s fear that he may be tanking and they will do whatever they can to prevent it.
Smoke and mirrors, anyone?
I almost thought I spotted Oprah there.
“According to his campaign” there were 75,000 people. You know how they lie to make themselves look better than they are. I have seen pictures of his rallys from one angle making it look like a large audience is in attendance. Then you see a picture from the back of the room and there is half a gym full of people. Totally a farce on his part as usual.
Of course Obama would never bus in ringers.
And Obama was “late”. The announcer kept repeating he would be there any minute. When he finally showed with his family, I think I heard him say they stopped for ice cream. The entire lead up and explanations struck me as putting off his talk until the crowd was the size his campaign wanted.
I thought about that picture for awhile
the truth is MOST of his supporters are students and elites (both of which can get off to go to a rally at any time of day or night and kids LOVE things like that anyway)
what if half the people that plan to vote for him show up at his rally?
That’s still only 150,000
Hillary did better than that in little WV. So I’m assuming the vote totals will be much higher in Oregon right? Or is it more sparsely populated! They vote by mail too right? ONLY by mail?
I wonder though how many of those 75,000 are actually voting for him or if they’re even live in Oregon.
Considering how many corrupt 3rd world tactics Obama’s campaign has employed I would’nt be surprised if he used one which is very popular in some South American countries like Argentina.
Cristina Kirchner would PAY and bus “supporters” to her rallys by the thousands all over Argentina in her campaign last year. LOL
Rove did the same thing for Bush, means nothing.
Remember, during his trial, Michael Jackson’s “fans” were brought in, to cheer him on, child molester and all?
did you include all the protesters at the rally? And where exactly did you get the number? Oh yes …from the media, how convenient.
I’m guessing you are one of those 20 percent polluting our party.
Are these also the out-of-state people that will help Obama cheat the OR ballot? Wow! Obama got a value for money for bus in those people.
I was in Portland several years ago. it was one of the only cities where I felt uncomfortable
No matter where I went there were young people panhandling. They all used the same line about needing money to go home. I got the feeling it was very organized.
That might be a lot of the crowd at Obama’s speech.
Many many people drove in from Seattle for that Rally, apparently. Also, with all the colleges in Portland (which is a major city) it’s not inconceivable to get that many people (though I think the estimate is pretty lofty). Kerry gathered over 40k in Oregon last time for a rally… it’s not hard to do on a sunny saturday in Portland.
The “college student” contingency wasn’t reflected in Pennsylvania and despite the vote in North Carolina, many of those “students” vote in their home states, so unless they are Oregon residents, they are nothing but window dressing. Axelrove has learned one thing tho … use the psychological impact of numbers. But Republicans LIKED Bush in overwhelming numbers. More than half of the people whose votes have been counted are bitterly opposed to Barry — so much so they are willing to change party to demonstrate they objection to his candidacy …
This was very disheartening. I hope it’s true that people from outside of Oregon came to inflate the numbers. But even that’s scary.
OB people, the lifeboats have left. Sink now. We won’t be joining you.
Hillary or Mccain!

Oh so you HATE OBAMA.
Well add me to the
I HATE OBAMA — party.
I don’t hate Obama. But as he would be worse for the country than McCain, I can not vote for him.
I don’t hate Obama either. He’s just not the “one” for me. From his scant resume, his sleazy associates, shadowy big money behind him, and his mindfuck marketing, he’s a bet I’m not willing to take for the Country.
I have to keep reminding myself that I am the only one that feels the hate. It doesn’t touch him. It is my insides that are being eaten away. It makes it a lot easier not to hate him knowing that it isn’t bothering him.
Exactly, Kathy…..the day I let some cardboard character affect me that emotionally?
oy vey……not for me.
I do mist up a bit when I read about what the Hillary campaigners are experiencing. There are some really horrible stories this year….being spit on, being asked for sex, etc.
But this is also an odd year given his race and the inclusion of voters usually more interested in gangster rap than in politics. LOL*
For that reason, however, I’m glad he ran. It’s clearly messy. It’s different. But I’d a lot rather see some of those young people engaged, however rudely, in politics and thinking about the future than in self-defeating lifestyles. I really do give him credit on this issue.
I keep thinking that he’s irresponsible to play the race card. At this stage, I’m wondering if I’m the one wrong on this. Perhaps the race card is the only card they recognize. That may be why Hillary never has much reacted. She is, undoubtedly, much more in tune.
In any event, it’s been the most exciting race in my lifetime.
And neck and neck races never can end cleanly. Can’t happen. Otherwise, they aren’t neck and neck.
So it’s going to be interesting, this ending.
I’m with you. I don’t hate him. He’s just not good enough for America.
I hate Obamaism!
May I join the party. I hate Obama too.
I’m with you! It’s Hillary or McCain. McCain will have lots of Democratic Leaders…from Howard Dean and Donna Brazile on down to John Edwards to thank, if he is the next President.

Thank you! That is a great video. I hope lots of folks take a look. It makes the “Obama = unelectable” case in a very creative way.
At 75,000 let’s see a pic.
There’s one on Drudge, but it was a beautiful day and lots of people were out. Not too much happening in Portland on a Sunday in May.
15,000 biking and some kayaking outside the gate. Barack;s a rock star…not qualified to be Prez though.
Heck, I’d bike by to see what was going on.
People from Washington State came across the border.
It’s up thread but I think I have it HERE, yep as I just emailed it to a bunch of people
its a bit unsettling
Definitely a lot of California and Washington state people in that crowd. Portland is only a three hour drive from Seattle.
But still, that photo is just one more reason to fight Obama – we all know what happens to charismatic leaders once they get in power.
75,000 ??? I thought it was only 50,000.

What’s nice about this unadulturated, emotional
rant is that the Obama campaign won’t have to
bother offering Mrs. Clinton the VP spot to
placate her followers, as they hate Obama anyway.
Thank you! — Like David Gergen said, if Obama
had Hillary Clinton as VP, he would have to hire
a food taster…
Stereotyping us I see. And Obama trolls whine about racism. I don’t hate Obama his trolls. As far as the VP spot I would hope Hillary would tell him to shove it. And I don’t need to be placated. Under that scenario I will campaign hard for McCain and vote for him. Obama is not even qualified to be dog catcher.

Destruction of the Democratic Party
I’ve been hearing that alot, “_________is tearing the Democratic Party apart” but I don’t think that either Senator Obama or Senator Clinton are actually doing that at all.
So who do I think is causing the destruction of the Democratic Party? I could go with a conspiracy theory and blame it on Republicans posing as Democrats but I won’t. I think I will place the blame upon the persons responsible and that would be the zealot followers of the Democratic candidates.
Updated Calendar
——————————————————————————–
Heres the link to the updated calendar-
Let me know if I’ve left anything out.
http://www.hillaryclintonforum.net/d…n/calendar.php
The job done by the media in the Dem primary is almost criminal. No wonder Obama is now so bold he wants to run victory laps on Tuesday, and claim he won the nomination.
Only few people know that even Obama doesn’t have the number of Del. required to win the nomination and that he needs SD as much as Hillary does. That side of the story was never presented to the public.
The story out there is that, should Hillary win the nomination win the help of SD, she would have stolen it.
Remember that Hillary was “asked” to leave the scene right after the “Chesapeake” primary, way before OH, TX, PA voted.
Hillary is brilliant and will figure out how to fix the mess Obama, the DNC and their MSM “jock sniffers” as Larry calls them have made.
Let’s take your apt analys a step further. If your analysis is spot on . what can we expect next? The UN
has suddenly appeared on the scene saying it will monitor our elections for racial and/or xenophobic
behavior. Rumor has it that the Obama campaign has solicited this interference, which I personally find ludicrous. What’s that about?
It looks like just more racist nonsense. The findings from the UN are not until next year so won’t change the results of the election. And if the UN does their job it will be Obama in trouble anyway. And this only enrages conservatives who hate the UN. This appears to be just more bullshit from Mr. Racecard Obama.
I think Mr. Racecard forgets that making false claims of racism makes him the racist.
Agree. It’s his supporters, along with D. Wilder and D. Brazile who claim that Obama supporters will be rioting at the convention. There is no way I will ever support a candidate with supporters and backers like that.
Nobody believes that rioting crap anymore just like no one believes that racist crap. They played that card long ago. The Obama deck is just plain out of cards to play.
agree. they’ll use the un thing to try to again spread the lie that voting against him means you’re racist. but they’re so stupid they don’t even realize that americans don’t want the un telling them what to do and are tired of hearing the phony racism claim from obamaidiots.
I’m not concerned about blacks rioting but those white Seattle/Portland liberals who showed up at the rally are the ones to riot. As in, they are the same folks who rioted in Seattle during the WTO talks. They’ll riot, possibly. But that should not dissuade anyone. Otherwise, it’s mob rule.
I think everyone has had their fill of Barack Obama–his miserable wife, the hate/preacher, the bomb throwing friend and the loonies who support this ignorant meglomaniac. I am sick of his face. They keep painting him as an athlete but the man has the body of an old codger. I am sick of the media fawning over this load of excrement and telling us he is the second coming. What I have not heard from any of these rabid supporters is exactly what Obama’s going to do about anything. Its all hopey/changey and media propaganda. The reality is he sucks–big time.
And he smokes!
First of all, UN food for oil, think Auchi, and corruption.
So it means nothing.
The second tactic is to exhaust, until Clinton, and her supporters just give up from exhaustion.
Not gonna happen, the boys again think too much of themselves, so ignore it, they’re trying to discourage, what is this one “fear, doubt uncertainty?”
I have to get out my copy of “psy ops for the mediocre and stupid man,” and check, I’ll get back to you…
Is it real, is it memorex, troll bois?
And given the goal, is this repeat move, a tactic team bush uses, one that lost 3 wars, productive?
Of course not, but you’re not smart enough to understand HOW you’re being trolled.
Only idiots develop a strategy around their own co dependency, too too funny…
ROTFLMAO
Hillary as evita, Obama does elvis and now, the sun queen…
LOL
oh, man, didnt see it..
The media will NOT in the tank for Obama in the GE. They are, and have always been, in the tank for McCain.
Should Obama be handed the nomination in an illegitimate play by the Dean/Pelosi/Brazile/limousine liberals, this will become abudantly clear.
This nomination has been gamed by the media from the getgo, just like the previous two. Just like the manufactured campaign against Bill Clinton.
Never forget that the goal of the media is to elect John McCain. It’s the only way they can solve their Bush disaster ball and chain.
I realize that this is a somewhat unconventional and harsh view of the media. Close observation will show that suspicion is warranted, especially after a rereading of Gene Lyons’s Fools for Scandal.
Not unconventional or harsh at all. Many people share this view. I agree with it. Since the DNC knows this they must have a plan up their sleeves and Obama supporters will be in for a rude awakening. They are being led to believe “its over” for months now.
Thrasyboulos — so then if what you say is true — Pelosi, Dean, Brazile and company are in cahoots with the Republicans to put up the weakest candidate against McCain. Obama takes a dive and the DNC owns the pool.
as a former General Electric shareholder I agree with you wholeheartedly
I dumped the stock and Time Warner TWX too once I realized what was happening and how invested these corps are in Iraq et al
Those alleged 75,000 people don’t vote at the convention. And Oregon is not a swing state.
It’s the map.
And fuck the MSM. They can’t make Hillary concede and they will only further enrage us and Hillary to carry on.
“They’ve [the MSM] tried to bury her more times than a cat’s got lives,” [Bill] Clinton said.
This is not that complicated. As long as Hillary does not concede she is in the race. It does not matter what Obama or the MSM says. They can whine all they want.
BHO superdelegate Sen.Claire McCaskill recieved from EMILY’s List $518,938 for her election bid in 2006, Sen.Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) $357,400 in 2006
and the stupid idiots probably think they’ll be vp.
This is why I told Emily’s list to take a hike.
Perdue got money from them too.
Big groups like Emily’s list look noble in the beginning. Better to fund the individual candidate who looks good to you. The rest of them just get $$$ cause they wear a skirt. JOWO.

DNC: Fractured Fairy Tales
There was some great footage there from the FL people. And I loved the bit about Brazile!
Folks need to offer props to CNN’s Lou Dobbs for being so outspoken in stating the fact that neither candidate will have enough delegates to clinch the nomination prior to the convention and for demanding a revote/fair representation for Florida and Michigan. Dobbs on his radio show has been hammering the Obama campaign for suggesting that they have a lock on the nomination.
Without Dobbs stating the obvious, Hillary would really be in a tough spot.
You are absolutely right. He is always very rational.
Unless he’s talking about job outsourcing and then he’s absolutely insane. I appreciate that he’s speaking up for Hillary, but the guy is a one trick pony when it comes to the economy.

Unfortunately the Democratic party is still way out of touch with the American people when it comes to its support of Open Borders. Like it or not the vast majority of Americans want our Immigrations laws enforced. Dobbs is clearly in the mainstream on this issue.
The Democrats are very lucky that McCain is the Republican nominee. McCain’s open Open Borders voting legacy will be a major weak point for Republicans this fall. Beleive it or not but Hillary is considered to be more Restrictionist on immigration than McCain which is why a number of major Conservative bloggers like Michelle Malkin have suggested that working and middle class Republicans could send a message and vote for Hillary.
That is why Obama would be a God send to Loyal Bushie Cheap Labor/ Pro Outsourcing Republican fat cats hoping for a Bush third term. Obama is such a far far far ideological left winger on Immigration matters that even disaffected Republicans will hold their noses and vote for McCain or as they call him McAmnesty.
Almost all the projected gains by Democrats in the Congress will be by Immigration Moderate to strong Restrictionists just like in 2006. Think Sherrod Brown, Jim Webb, Elsworth, Schuller…
With Obama at the top of the ticket it will kill our chances of major gains in the House and Senate.
That old man McCain doesn’t stand a chance.. Barrack Hussein Obama’s 57 Islamic state plan is working flawlessly, Hillary should quit while she is ahead.
Only the loser should win, even John Kerry knows he should be the nominee because he’s a black man, come on already!
Just because she gets more votes, and can win HUGE in november doesn’t mean she should be our nominee, I mean McGovern and Kerry and Edwards and every other LOSER is backing Obama, now get on the bandwagon folks and don’t get your panties in a bind, sweetie
BTW, I love you guys and hope you don’t take my ramblings seriously..
I love checking the following daily:
Hillary’s electoral map with average of current state by state polls show her winning 274 to 242 (270 needed to win)
http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Clinton/Maps/May18.html
Obama’s dismal electoral map, he loses 237 to 290 vs. McCain!
http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Obama/Maps/May18.html
He not only loses, he loses BIG! The democratic party elites need to wake up and smell the coffee, OBAMA IS A LOSER!!
But wait til those General Election Caucuses start, then Obama will kick McCain’s ass!!!
Love your comment especially this:
Clinton 65% –
Obama 29%
kentucky poll by ARG ON MAY 14-MAY 15
Too bad Clinton couldn’t even round up 7500 people in Kentucky, lol. Yeah, she’s a winner.
Clinton supporters work for a living; they don’t sponge off of mom and dad so that they can attend another staged Obama Rally and receive their free Starbucks Grande Soy mocha coupon you Schmuk!!
Yes, I hear this a lot: Obamabots telling us that Obama would clearly make a better President because he A) raised more money and B) draws bigger crowds.
I suppose Bush is at least partially to blame for this dumbing down of the qualifications to be President. Personally, I dont see what either A or B has to do with being able to run the country.
35K plus came in Philly and we know what happened in PA.
Is the voting through postal system fraud safe? Obama people are know for fraud and I hope the postal system will not be misused.
Well if voteRs gave their ballots to someone to mail — there could be fraud.
I read somewhere — a report of Obamabots going door to door collecting ballots to mail.
Hopefully most people are too smart to fall for such low down tricks. But after seeing the tricks that Obamabots pulled in my caucus — I don’t put any sort of evil past these creeps.
And now I understand how the Brownshirts did their dirty deeds. I used to know a couple who were harassed by the Brownshirts in Berlin (they escaped Berlin and emigrated to the USA, just before the Jews were rounded up) — the Brownshirts would pound on their door in the middle of the night to “review” the books in the book shelves — and tossed all on the floor and then leave. From their stories I gather that the Brownshirts loved to continually harass and intimidate Jews and liberals and other individuals on their hate list.
Obama’s trolls are the modern Brownshirts. And this is one of the reasons I will never vote for Obama. His wife is a racist — this is another huge reason I will never vote for Obama.
McCain seems like a saint compared to Obama.
But — I believe that Clinton will prevail in Denver!!! I am with her and I expect her to be sworn in as MADAM PRESIDENT.
Definitely a Federal offense…who will monitor?
Obama’s Kentucky Paranoia
Barack Obama has a theory about why he is struggling in Kentucky.
He acknowledged that he’s trying to “reverse a lot of misconceptions” about his background. He is a Christian, although some e-mail chains have said he is a Muslim.
“Part of it is because there have been these e-mails that have been sent out very systematically, presumably by various political opponents, although I don’t know who,” he said. “And there are a lot of voters who get their news from Fox News. Fox has been pumping up rumors about my religious beliefs or my patriotism or what have you since the beginning of the campaign.”
http://www.theeprovocateur.blogspot.com/2008/05/obamas-kentucky-paranoia.html
We have had 30 years of “e-mails” about Hillary Clinton. Tell Barak to get over it
It is not the MATH it’s the MAP … Hillary can win the Electoral College. Obama is another DUKKAKIS moment for the Dem Party… wake up and smell the electoral college!
Gee I wonder why the trolls have not touched this thread yet? I’ll give you 72 reasons.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/readerarticles/?period=all
read –how people are waking up
and writing so much about obama
Great to see the mass awakening. I was beginning to wonder if America had turned into the Oborg Collective.
You know, Gore won the popular vote in 2000.
America never turned, really, only the media did.
Just because Rove called it a mandate doesn’t mean it WAS a mandate, same with Obama, they’re lying, and cheating.
Truth is, the country wants Clinton.
yup….
They ignored WVA. I don’t think they will be able to ignore KY if she blows him out there, too.
If she closes the gap in Oregon, he’s going to be backtracking.
Did you see Pamela’s Letter on there? Linked to NQ.
yes
pls vote on those blogs too
hmmmm… 75,000?
it would’ve been a good time to pass around the grape Kool-aid (since they’ve been drinking the Obama flavoured kind already)
I believe Hillary will gain the nomination and win the Presidency, but I still worry.
If she does not win the nomination, and we force ourselves to vote for that arrogant SOB – for the “greater good” or whatever PR term they’ll give it – when will the fools at the DNC ever learn that misogyny and cheating are not OK? I am sickened by the vicious hatred that has been thrown at a woman of her stature with impunity and I think we will have to say, “NO, and Hell NO!” Let them lose the White House, the democratic party and that pissy jerk they are trying to force into the presidency. Maybe then they’ll start to catch a clue.
Stick with that.
“They’ve tried to bury her more times than a cat’s got lives,” [Bill] Clinton said.
which is precisely why we should NEVER vote for that arrogant sob. it is NOT for the greater good that he win. not only would him in the white house be terrible for the country, but letting his despicable tactics and the despicable tactics of dean, brazile, etc., succeed would just let them know that they can do it every time there’s an election. the dem party would be screwed forever.
hillary or mccain. no other option.
Please stop by this blog at No Blood for Hubris, enjoy the rising Hillary Electability links, and also attend to piece on The Sweetie Rebellion.
Then please please pass these memes on and on and on.
It’s all about framing, people.
Frame now. Frame strong. Lather, rinse, and repeat.
But now.
Yup……all great pieces that hit today. I’m sort of surprised to see the sweetie thing grow legs.
It’s funny. He’s getting creamed with that one.
No Blood,
I went to your site. It’s wonderful. Things are getting excitinger, and excitinger.
It takes teamwork! ( and remember, there’s no “Obama” in “teamwork”!)
Let’s not forget that Obama is
I don’t hate Obama.
I think he’s a weak centrist candidate.
I think he’s Not Ready for Prime Time.
I think he bumbles and stumbles and fails to blow anything away.
I think he’s no progressive at all, but just repackaged Reagan Lite.
Any other questions?
I beg to differ on one minor point. Obama isn’t centrist anything.
Obama trying to declare himself the winner sounds like something out of the three stooges comedies. He is afraid he will lose before he can win .LOL.
It is a sheer act of desperation. And what will be more comical than the three stooges will be when the Marx Brothers of the MSM play along with him.
Hillary won’t concede. There’s no reason to. Obama is just blowing smoke.
Obama’s crew makes the three stooges look witty, and sophisticated.
Sorry for the rant. I couldn’t help myself…
Its OK. Venting is important. People can play out their fears then when the event actually happens they realize its not so bad after all.
Obama and the MSM will look like total fools if they declare him victor AGAIN. People are on to their scam as the 72% number clearly illustrates.
72% is a HUGE number — nearly 3 out of 4 people. Which tells us that the Obamabots are really a small minority.
No surprise there. They believe in a loser.
This media coronation of Obama is so much like the media march to the Iraq war it is scary. Same stooges leading the way – same shutdown of voices who disagree….
Same heavy, nauseous feeling in the pit of my stomach…
Something wicked this way comes….
Actually, where I am, it’s something flatulent this way comes…
Fired up, ready to go, he’s heating up!
And who the hell are the “People” to tell the MEDIA not to annoint Obama? Who asked THEM? Don’t they know they are supposed to sit down, shut up and wait for Olbermann, Matthews, Maddow, Kos, Huffington etc. to tell them who their candidates are?
The nerve of the “People!” I hope this is the last time we hear from THEM.
ha ha ha ha ha
u cute funny
keep it up
pass it on to other blogs
oh john, you’re right. i had forgotten that we the people was just a line someone wrote and now obama gets to write new lines like yes we can. screw that we the people stuff!
guess we the people should just sit down and shut up and await our instructions. maybe chris tingly leg matthews knows what we should do….
(i read that chris tingly legs intends to run for office? hope the voters give give him the creepy crawly leg treatment.)
I so agree. That’s the slippery quality that everyone is circling but can’t quite define.
We honestly cannot change the media. Blog away. Protest. But it’s not going to change until people gravitate back to real news. Then, it will change. People love these opinionators. I personally don’t, but I recognize that a lot of people want their news digested for them. Me? I’m the type that prefers to make up my own mind. Sometimes I agree with the conservative. Other times I agree with an Obama supporter. I’m independent.
We do, however, need a leader who isn’t afraid of these forces in our current world and knows how to ride it out, make her move at the right time, etc.
That’s clearly Hillary. He insults her by calling her Annie Oakley.
We’ve all fallen back in love with Annie Oakley. LOL* That’s a winner.
She turns lemons into lemonade, and we so need that spirit right now in our country.
John — the reason there is a lot of blowback is that the media has gone from news to punditry to propaganda to selling a candidate most people don’t want. However, still not satisfied they will declare the race over because they are afraid the longer this goes on the more people will by-pass Obama.
So Obama stages big events. Must have cost a fortune to pay that audience. Now he will declare Mission Accomplished. Wonder what he will wear for that debacle. Costumes are everything. I pray that he looks as big an asshole as the current president when he pulled the same stunt.
I think the media is slipping — usually it only takes three weeks to completely destroy someone and they have been at it with Hillary for 7 months and she only gets stronger. This is the quality I want in a president.
Thanks you all you help me keep my sanity, what ever that is.
75000 at todays rally, hmmmmm quick buy apple stock, they will have a good quarter in ipod and iphone sales for all the paid obamabots today!
I remember unions used to bus people into rallies, too.
Smells, if it’s bama, it’s gotta be staged.
The obvious good news of the backlash, which is not just in the blog world, is that Hillary has been successful in establishing her message that 2209 are needed and that MI and FL MUST BE RESOLVED before any nomination could possibly be considered legitimate by the Democrats.
It’s clear that the public agrees with her.
You got it.
So does Howard Dean, now.
Must be all those DNC members who stopped donating $$$$ until Florida and Michigan were counted. Like me.
How nice of him to grace Oregon with a rally. Wow-he is really something-NOT. What a joke this guy is. Doesn’t want to debate, won’t do a town hall with Hillary, but he does want to have a rock star type of rally, where the script is written ahead of time. Was this rally held by one of the great lakes that Obama has positioned in Oregon??? This man can not be the nominee. I get physically ill, everytime I hear his voice on the TV.
He likes the big vacuous show. It gets people all bedazzled and screaming over a larger-than-life illusion.
Like those old shots of the Kremlin or Nazi Germany.
If Obama cannot meet with opposition now, how the heck will be handle a national security/financial crisis?
lying in a fetal position “hoping” that the situation will “change.”
35,000
This reminded many people of George Bush’s operatives, who told Al Gore to “move on” and “get over it,” so that Bush could take the White House before Florida’s recount was complete.
I wish it was just Bush’s operatives who did so!! It was Warren Christon and and Mayor Daily….Gore’s own people, who told him “oh you’ll win it next time”
James Baker had them peeing their pants.
Thanks guys
Why did Jim Baker have them peeing in their pants?
Those guys who use force and intimidation are covering up fear, they do not make intelligent and well reasoned decisions, Bush and Cheney have shown us that, the whole eight years a MESS.
What happens when they face sustained opposition?
They can still do damage, given a proclivity to violence, but they’re not smart, so they can be taken.
Iraq proved that, didn’t it?
Why did Jim Baker have them peeing in their pants?
Just his mere presence LOL! Baker isn’t called the Bush family fixer for nothing.
But I thought white people were racists, is there no racist whites in Oregon guess Michelle will be happy now the only racists white are in Ky and WV
Hillary must never concede. If they water board her, she must never concede.
She cannot concede to a 48 state nominee. Then let MaCain slap Barry around for awhile . By Aug, the Dems will be begging her to take it
Lorraine:
I always have thought that Larouche and his people were screwballs. You directed us to his website and because I am always open to debate, I went and read it.
To my great surprise I found one of the best analysis of why Hillary is the best candidate and why she can win.
Quote:
LaRouche-PAC Chairman Lyndon LaRouche called Hillary Clinton’s 41-point smashing defeat of Barack Obama in West Virginia this past week, “the biggest event in world history in the last month.”
http://www.larouchepac.com/news/2008/05/16/how-move-mountain.html
do you all remember that massive crowd that saw Obama speak in PA? Did he win PA? NO, because people aren’t stupid enough. In this case he will win OR, but not by 75,000.
Sadly, it’s not just the media. Obama is still holding firm with his plans to coronate himself on May 20th in Iowa, with Michelle by his side. Then.. he is heading the next day to FLORIDA for a rally or appearance of some sort.
Gosh.. wouldn’t it be WONDERFUL if the disenfranchised folks in Florida dropped by his rally with signs that said “COUNT ALL OUR VOTES!!!” and such? I mean if Obama can bus people in to his rallies and caucuses, couldn’t people bus from all over Florida to send him a message?? Or do they do an iris scan on everyone before they enter the Temple of Obama?
just sayin’
I wonder if snObama will borrow the Crown jewels from the Queen of England for his coronation — or will his Wall Street/Oil Backers loan him something they’ve looted?
Thankfully I don’t watch tv and so I won’t even be tempted to watch this monumental (disgusting) event. I sure that everyone who does have access to the evil TV will be sure to watch the charade.
nope. never cnn. never nbc. never msnbc. rarely cbs or abc or fox. mostly just espn and tnt (nba playoffs). and the occasional episode of lost.
but even when watching games, come across the chosen one’s ugly face or more often a commercial for a special on black people in america with soledad obrien hyping it, or a special on black basketball players/coaches, etc. (anyone notice how suddenly there are so many more specials and movies portraying black people in a positive light than there usually are, plus so many more commercials featuring black people in a positive way? it’s not that hollywood actually gives a shit about black people or whatever. they’ll go back to the usual “gangsta” portrayals whenever it suits their (financial) purposes. but this season is the get obama elected season and they’re pulling out all the usual psy ops methods. )
recently remembered that there are things called books. amazing! so read, and blog. and hope that the cnn’s and nbc’s and msnbc’s, and especially the matthews, and russerts, and olbermanns, and braziles, etc., all lose their jobs when their ratings tank.
Hey, wouldn’t it be WONDERFUL if the “disenfranchised” folks in Florida made Charlie Crist and their own legislators (including willing Dems) pay for the STUPID and ARROGANT decision that THEY made to screw over their own electorate, and in no small way screw over the Democratic Party as a whole (with help from Michigan, of course)? Yeah, that would be WONDERFUL. lol
Obama controls his appearances. But even so, I don’t think I agree with you that the same tactics are the way to go.
I don’t care what his campaign thinks. Let them be deluded. Let them think it’s working. Let them suck up their own PR.
But I’m fairly sure that these exit polls showing a thunder of footsteps out of the Democratic party isn’t a lie.
It’s for real.
And it’s going to make sure that this crap never happens again, if the Democrats even get another chance.
It honestly could end the party entirely.
I know I’m ready for a real change. A solid moderate, socially liberal, financially conservative, without the insane fringe right or left?
That’s a party I dream of joining.
I’m pretty much disgusted with the insiders. Obama had the right message, but his supporters are all the same old suits, and it shows.
Time for a real change.
“I know I’m ready for a real change. A solid moderate, socially liberal, financially conservative, without the insane fringe right or left?”
I voted to re-elect Arnie the Governator in the last election. The Democrat facing him was a weasel, and I felt it was important to support the MODERATE wing of the Republican party. People joke about Arnold but as Republicans go, he’s not bad. I’ll vote for a moderate Republican over a left-wing dictator-in-the-making any day of the week.
I noticed with disgust in the latter part of this week, after Hillary’s gigantic win in W Va was stomped on by Edwards’ Obama endorsement, followed by the Obama/McCain/Bush sniping, that Campbell Brown and many other newsreaders at CNN and MSNBC were calling this the first week of the national election between McCain and Obama!
LadyBoomer,
After this election is over, we must find a way to take on the MSM. They did so much damage when selling the war to their audiences — and now they want to hijack the presidential election?
I do not need little Barack Obama to tell me or Hillary that it is all right for her to stay in the race.
These are heartening statistics.
Perhaps the American people are not sheep like zombies after all.
Let’s all stay positive.
Remember, in a race it doesn’t matter who pulls out ahead.
It’s who finishes first.
Norman,
I like your plan: let’s stay positive.
It’s all about The Sweetie Rebellion.
It’s all about Hillary’s Huge Electoral Advantage.
Please visit my blog, above, and then scroll down.
Just a reminder to those “dissing” Californians as being “bussed in” to artificially enlarge Obama’s…
…crowd (in Portland):
The GREAT State of California CHOSE Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama in February 2008. I am so proud to say that. We know who would make the better president, and her initials are HRC.
I attribute Obama’s supposed crowd of 75K to many curious Oregonians enjoying a lovely day and the chance to view the media-created, rock star candidate.
I’m in California and I was one of the ones who helped Hillary beat Obama here in February!
That said, we have a lot of Obama supporters here in SoCal (sadly, some of my friends) and I’m sure even more up in San Francisco, which is close to Oregon. It’s “hip” to be for Obama; it’s not hip to be for Hillary.
I’ve also lived in Seattle…and I know the mindset there. I’m sure there were tons of Seattle kids at the rally. It’s only three hours from Portland.
Says something about “hip”, doesn’t it?
I just read in the Lyndon LaRouche article that Obama offered to pay Clinton’s campaign debt of 25 Million. This guy is so damn dirty. BO not everyone will sell their soul for one of your bribes.
pssssshhhhh*
Let me tell you one thing I know for sure. When you’re as rich as Hillary and Bill? You don’t need a penny from Obama.
But….that fact aside, we Hillary supporters will pay our way.
Without a doubt.
And we’ll be showing up to fundraisers for her even if she loses.
If there’s one thing that people need to get straight is that her supporters are the real deal. We are so not “American Idol” types.
And we will make sure that everyone gets paid and paid in full. Slate clean.
It’s insulting to suggest otherwise.
I’m as staunch a Hillary supporter as they come. I’m AA and will be voting for McCain that’s how much I despise Obama, BUT…..
this is politics. An awful lot of money has been spent on both sides. You all are setting yourselves up for major disillusionment if it comes down to Hillary towing the Party line.
If people do that it will weaken our resolve for the GE. I don’t intend to let ANYTHING weaken my resolve. I have my mind focused on that voting booth where I have the ultimate POWER.
Obama will have to:
WIN WITHOUT ME!
I just read that Obama is going around saying that people should not get to eat as much as they want, or drive the kind of vehicle they want to drive, or keep their house at the temperature they would like it. According to Obama, we are not going to do that anymore, not if he has anything to say about it!
“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.
“That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen,” he added.”
http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5h-wpxs1Re-8vx2Zk5xnYygW1W67w
This must be part of his Goddamn America platform.
Maybe those of us in Michigan should just put on another sweater?
LOL Obama is like the bad aspects of Jimmy Carter x 10. At least Jimmy didn’t try to tell us we had to eat less food. I don’t think he did anyway!
Obama is a joke. Vote Obama! We can all starve and freeze together for hope and change! Oh yeah, and Goddamn America!
““We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.”
Thanks for posting this. I’m emailing this around today to my friends.
AAs are going to LOVE this. Especially the part about SUVs.
Well, I’ll bet the shit hits the fan when he tries to cut off Michelle from the groceries and turns off the AC. And how will she get the kids to all of those private lessons rding a bike?
I so no to the Manchurian candidate. He will never be our nominee.
How much more has to come out about this guy before the SDs wake up? His associations and statements to this point would surely have buried anybody else.
Although there are more Obama supporters in Los Angeles/San Francisco than in all of West Virginia, most are rather blase about politics.
It’s cool to appear political, but the ones who DO the research tend to support Hillary.
That’s why so many of her supporters-onto the wolf in rock star clothing–will NEVER vote for him. They’ve done the research and are HORRIFIED.
His supporters, once cool is no longer relevant in the GE, will fall into line to support Hillary.
Don’t you find it interesting that his supporters in San Francisco don’t CARE that Obama refuses to be seen in public—or have pictures taken with—the gay major Gavin Newsom?
Obama is anti-gay marriage, and the homophobic Black preacher Donnie McClurkin is campaigning in the Black community on his behalf.
And yet, the very liberal San Francisco liberals are supporting him.
Odd, I think.
Defeating trolls:
Yes ignoring them is fun, but those new to the site really don’t read that and read every post. It causes them to be sad and disheartened.
So, one key way is to mimic them once they post, write as their name and say how sorry you are that you were a troll and move towards loving Hillary.
Its instant karma and gets them freaked out. So those 400 fake trolls will never hurt me! Try it on the next troll and you’ll love yourself even more. Heck, use their name when you reply to their comment with a quote from Hillary or something positive from Hillary. It’ll really surprise new readers and neutralise the trolls. They then become useless against the newbies and won’t be moulded into depression…
Whoever suggested the article about Clinton and the WV vote etc. at Lyndon Larouche web — was right – it’s an insightful article — worth reading! THANKS!
http://www.larouchepac.com/news/2008/05/16/how-move-mountain.html
Wow! 20 whole %. Kinda tells you what obamalamadingdond’s REAL support is don’t it?!
Secular,
What a good point!
I’m actually looking forward to future investigations on how the Obama campaign worked with the media – it just seems they paid off a few of the media ringleaders to create an overbearing echo-chamber, and the rest was waiting for the other boys club lemming media to join in. For those who didn’t follow this lead, their articles were drowned out by the echo.
Something has just seemed wrong about this entire process and the media’s role. It’s hoodwinking for sure – I just don’t know how it’s been done.
Nazi propaganda. This is what it must have been like in Germany under Hitler.
Wow, five minutes here and I see that Obama has not only paid off the media but also bused in 75k people to Oregon for a rally. This isn’t an echo chamber, it’s a cuckoo chamber.
Dan,
How old are you? I ask, because I’ve seen you say very insulting things to commenters here — which doesn’t benefit your candidate (assuming that you’re an Obama fan)?
If he were to officially become the nominee, he would need a lot of Hillary-supporting Dems to get behind him.
A person with life experience would understand that insulting people is not a good way to persuade them to do what you want.
OK, people here can say shit like “obamalamadingdond” among other crap but I need to be civil.
And Nazi propaganda?
May 22nd is going to change the game. According to articles (please see the links below), Senator Obama’s past is going to be revealed by the group. The content of information is going to be “explosive” and “shocking.”

In Oregon:
“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.
Would he say that in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Florida, or West Viriginia?
Says a lot about his world view….and view of the US and its people.
Obama is not who he says he is.
Well, that’s exactly it. To the lily-white pretentious preening self-satisfied morally superior people of Oregon (as a resident of Maryland I call it the Maryland of the West) Obama dishes out bad-tasting medicine like this. He’d NEVER say such a thing to the blue-collar, hard-working people of PA, Ohio, West Virginia, etc.
The people who make $100,000+ in Oregon will just love all this “sacrifice” crap as they fill their SUVs without blinking an eye. They pride themselves for being racially enlightened too- from behind the gates of their white communities. They put up “Not On Our Watch” and “Save Darfur” signs but won’t lift a finger to actually DO anything because after all Johnny’s got soccer practice and I have my art class at the college. They are total posers.
John,
You’re right: he’s not who he says he is. A look at his taking of lobbyist-, PAC-, and corporate-connected donations is all the evidence I need.

The most necessary thing IMHO is that the media is exposed for what they are and what they are not.
It is not the job of the media to choose our candidates. It is not the job of the media to “anoint” one candidate or to “demonize” another.
The media has not done it’s proper job in years. And for this reason when some pundit wants me to get all excited if some media type, print or electronic, is hauled off to jail I am completely under whelmed.
They do not do their duty under the 1st Amendment then they are not worthy of its protection. They do not report news anymore. They make it up, spin it, lie, cheat and basically act like a bunch of thugs. There are a few, a very few people in media that still deserve the title of “journalist” and the protections of the 1st Amendment. (Paul Krugman and Gene Lyons immediately spring to my mind.)
The rest are just corporate whores and don’t qualify for 1st Amendment protection. If they did, then so would every gasbag sitting on a bar stool shooting off his/her mouth.
I love Gene Lyons’ column; it’s the only bit of sanity on the editorial page of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (referred to frequently as the DOG). He must be reading blogs because he quoted from Anglachel in last week’s column.
What has been worrying me about the media and Obama seems to be playing out in the DOG. They attack Hillary with everything they have (which is a given), but they also have been attacking McCain while giving Obama a pass (except for Mallard Fillmore which is buried on a inside classified page). I am hoping that the corporate media is not beginning to think that Obama will be better for them than McCain.
kenoshamarge,
You and I are on the same page.
Notice the emphasis on the 75k rally? So this is the secret strategy:
1.) Plan a big rally and bus in people from other states but don’t debate Hillary.
2.) Use the big rally and a win in OR as a diversion from the more important huge KY win. (KY, PA, WV, OH, FL, etc. critical swing states)
3.) Declare fake victory.
They forgot one thing in their secret plan: Hillary does not have to concede. Its not like she has not seen pressure before from these idiots. They also forgot to mention declaring a false victory will enrage Hillary supporters and this actually helps her.
Thanks trolls for exposing the secret plan to us. This plan is doomed from its inception and will end up helping Hillary get the nomination.
Holding a huge rally when he refuses to debate Hillary does not make him a great leader. He should start a rock band and go on tour instead. Not run for president.
And don’t forget: Gore will probably be the BIG endorsement on Wednesday!
And Obama’s OX willed be Gore’d ?
Like that will help.
75 thousand people bused in from elsewhere? Ever been to Oregon? Do you have any idea how far you would have to go to find that kind of # to bus in? Who is going to ride for hours to stand around for hours to ride back on a bus for hours just to fulfill some nefarious strategy. Are you completely crazy? Just cause Hillary can’t fill a high school auditorium, don’t dismiss that kind of rally. 75k people showed up.
As I suspected the May 20 “victory” won’t save Obama from the May 31 rules committee meeting. People need to relax and take a breather for few minutes. This is under control.
Will the Democratic Race End on May 21?

It is hard for me to say I hate Obama. Not because I like him. But because I know he is not fully the culprit in what our party is going through. it would be as easily to find some one else gussy him up, fake every thing about him and send their dogs and hounds in the MSM to pollute the primary proccess, not to mention turn a blind eye to all the fraud and cheating that went on during the primaries. WE NEED A NEW PARTY.
Re: Fighting back’s comment about defeating trolls:
My suggestion is just to tell them, “I love you back.”
Amazing how many people here have reading comprehension problems. The poll says that 72% says that the media should not “annoint.” It does not say that 72% says that the media should “stop annointing.”
Like … say, if 97% of people say that the media should not lie, it is not the same as 97% of people saying that the media should “stop” lying.
Get it????
Dan,
I’m familiar with the actual quote, because I read it before pasting it into my post.
It doesn’t take much analysis to go from the quote to my title, because (as the quote indicates) many media have already started TRYING to annoint Obama.
Many of those polled say that the media should not be anointing him. Given that the attempts to anoint are already in progress, it’s not a far stretch to say that the 72% polled think the media should stop trying to anoint.
Lastly, what benefit did you derive from using an insulting tone?
No, you didn’t “analyze” anything. You read a quote (did you read the poll data) made assumptions.
I didn’t derive anything from the insulting tone. I thought that was the accepted tone here.
Actually, now that I think about it, it is worse than making assumptions. It is misinterpreting poll data. Intentional or not?
Is Dan being rude?
Maybe The Anointed’s Campaign site can set up a thread for denouncing not-nice supporters. Let’s ask for one. Pledge some money with that request.
Just trying to help people interpret poll data. Send your money wherever you want.
Democrats have already Lost!
I have not given up on Hillary, although it seems that NPR and the rest of the mainstream media have already elected the next Democratic Nominee. I was naive to think that a woman could have a fair chance to run for the most powerful office in these United States of America.
It seems that Gloria Steinem (NYT Op-ed 010808) got it “just right” when she said women are never front runners. I have to agree with her assertion that the United States is not ready to share power with women when she said, “This country is way down the list of countries electing women, and according to one study, it polarizes gender roles more than the average democracy.” Furthermore, she wrote, “[Obama] is seen as unifying by his race while [Clinton] is seen as divisive by her sex.” Women do not have a fair playing field because the media will not support it. Quite frankly, women have to be seen as a man in order to compete. We have to be thought of as having three testicles instead of a womb!
Moreover, Steinem wrote, “So why is the sex barrier not taken as seriously as the racial one? The reasons are as pervasive as the air we breathe: because sexism is still confused with nature as racism once was; because anything that affects males is seen as more serious than anything that affects “only” the female half of the human race; because children are still raised mostly by women (to put it mildly) so men especially tend to feel they are regressing to childhood when dealing with a powerful woman; because racism stereotyped black men as more “masculine” for so long that some white men find their presence to be masculinity-affirming (as long as there aren’t too many of them); and because there is still no “right” way to be a woman in public power without being considered a you-know-what.”
I have been so discouraged by the media’s coverage of Hillary, with the misogynistic slurs, including talking about her body parts, her laugh, or unfeminine ways. Bitch, Monster, Witch, Ex-wife, and lacking a soul, only begin to scratch the surface of the names and epithets used to degrade Senator Clinton. Is this really how we treat women in this Nation? Do the souls who write this have a mother, or a wife, sisters, and/or daughters? The media should know better. In fact if anything close these slurs had been hurled at Obama, all of America would have deemed them to be racist and un-American. Where is the outrage for Hillary? Why is this country, or more specifically the media, so strongly against the possibility of a woman in the highest office? What about the phrase “Madam President” is so hard to swallow? Instead, at this historical point in our nation’s history, why isn’t the media championing a level playing field for women to run alongside men in such an important race? Steinem was right in her assertion that women will never be front-runners, and that the sex barrier is not taken as seriously as the racially barrier, especially in the eyes of the media.
I know people who participated in Iowa, Nevada and Texas. Obama’s people took advantage of the caucus process much in the same way he took advantage during his run for his senate seat in Illinois. I have not seen the media reporting on the Obama camp and its “Old Chicago” style tactics. Is that not that more pertinent to the selection of a candidate than the way someone laughs? The nation’s electorate has been lead astray by the media’s myopic infatuation with “Obama Almighty”. Everyone is being taken for a ride just as we were with the buildup to the war in Iraq. We have not fully vetted Senator Obama and if we do not do something different, soon, we are doomed to repeat the past.
In addition to the divisive issue of gender, why hasn’t the media taken a deeper look into the inane process of electing a Democratic nominee. Proportional representation, superdelegates, and then the ever looming issue of Florida and Michigan. The delegates from these two rule-breaking states may or may not be seated, but what is the harm with looking at the country as a whole, or better yet thinking down the road to the General Election. Has the media forgotten what happened in 2000? Hillary has carried the larger states that have more Electoral College votes. Winning in primary states won does not translate into winning in the general election. Knowing that Obama may not be able to bring home the Electoral College votes needed to beat McCain, the democrats may well be putting all their eggs into the wrong basket! Or, has the media already done this for them?
More importantly, why has the Democratic Party allowed such a lopsided primary process? Talk about crazy math, can anyone actually explain the eccentricities of how states grant delegates? I have five points that I would like someone to explain to all voters:
First, what is wrong with allowing every voter their voice? The process was designed presumably to include the entire electorate by allowing the primary process to run through June. Yet by February, the leaders of the Democratic party had seemingly selected their candidate and began running around saying, “it’s time to unite, Clinton should step down”. With a margin as slim as this, how can anyone ask a competitive candidate to step down, especially when more states have yet to speak, and more voters have yet to be included in the party or the process?
Secondly, since February 19, seven states have voted. Clinton has won four, Pennsylvania, Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island, and built a popular vote margin of 483,000. Yet, her total gain in delegates was exactly five. In Texas, she won by more than 100,000 votes, but because of that state’s ridiculous rules, she actually came out five delegates behind. Proportional representation is not being representative.
Thirdly, Obama built up sizable margins in small states that Clinton conceded. His delegate advantage in traditionally red states, Idaho, Kansas and Louisiana – states that will never vote democratic in the general election – was a total of 38. In contrast, Clinton won three large swing states, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio. Yet, because of party rules, her combined gain was only 28 delegates. What is wrong with this math? How can it make sense for Idaho, Kansas and Louisiana to have a greater impact on choosing the Democratic nominee than Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio?
Fourthly, Obama’s camp is trying to make the argument that while Clinton might be the better candidate in traditional swing battlegrounds, he can “expand the map” with young people and blacks, arguing that Democrats will be competitive in red states like Colorado and Virginia. The election map has virtually remained the same these last eight years with only three small states switching sides between 2000 and 2004. Clinton winning Ohio is a much safer bet for Democrats than the chances of capturing Colorado or Virginia. Obama’s Hail Mary pass in Colorado and Virginia is speculative at best.
Fifthly, polls consistently show that since before the Penn primary Hillary Clinton would do far better than John McCain in the general election. Isn’t that what we are fighting for in the first place?
The greatest issue here is that the media and many in the Democratic Party have utterly ignored the fact that almost 50% of the Democratic Party has voted and said, “We want Hillary Clinton as our next President.” Millions of media consumers have voted for Hillary Clinton, and continue to support her everyday. Yet both the party and the media ignore us. We have no voice, and little representation in this purportedly proportional system, and in our free and democratic press. Disenfranchisement doesn’t even begin to cover it. Half of the Democratic party has already lost their voice – our country cannot afford to lose their vote as well.
A woman, mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, veteran, doctor, and human being.
I think you’re right: the REpublicans will likely win if Obama is the nominee.
Which is a compelling argument for Hillary to use. They will have to get over the notion of a black nominee at all costs.
75 thousand (mostly white) people turning out in Oregon. You’re fighting the tide.
How bout them polls.
You mean “
“?
Screww the MSM. Hillary will be the nominee. America is wise to the MSM. Tune em out and keep fighting for Hillary! They are trying to demoralize you. Don’t let them!
“They’ve [the MSM] tried to bury her more times than a cat’s got lives,” [Bill] Clinton said.
Thank you for your eloquence.
It is very hard to hear “thoughtful” women like Eleanor Clift pile on. I had so much respect for her and she has gone all hormonal on us. No ability to use facts. Shouting others down and interrupting sentences so as not to hear. It is just such a sad state of affairs. I know that people are enchanted by the concept of an African American Candidate. Can’t we wait until we have one that is qualified? I know that I can expect a hundred or so “racist” responses, but if any of you can give me eight (8) meaningful Obama positions that are not based in some large measure on Senator Clinton’s please, educate me.
[...] Backlash has Begun: 72% Say Media Should Stop Trying to Annoint Obama This from PEW Research Center: “[T]he public is sending a strong message to journalists and pundits: It is too early to declare, as some already have, that the race is over. “Fully 72% of the public – including comparable percentages of Democrats, Republicans and independents – say that journalists should not be anointing Obama as the Democratic [...] Technorati Tags: Obama Campaign, Clinton Campaign [...]
at least in the old day with RONALD RAYGUN the conservative news men had on RED TIES on , to signify there right wing afiliation.
some one should send red ties to republican tim russert and all of NBC so we can tell who is a republican and who is a democrat.[true democrat] like bill and hillary clinton.
the republican party owns all of the USA media any way.
Great article.
I truly find it disgusting how everyone is pushing Barack Obama on us. If Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee, then I will undoubtedly be voting for John McCain come November.
Charles,
Thanks for the kind words.
Me, I’m afraid of McCain, especially his economic policies. At the same time, I don’t think Obama will be particularly progressive, but I do think there’s a chance he’d be better than McCain.
Frankly, I resent that Obama has made it so difficult for me to vote for him if he becomes the nominee.
I’ve rarely been as passionately FOR someone as I have been for Hillary.
But I’ve followed her for years and looked forward to her bid.
So I’m horribly disappointed.
But….I can move forward. I have lost far more political races than won.
That’s the plight of the minority voice.
I’m sure where I’m at “this moment.” I’m listening to both Obama and McCain, but I think the picture won’t come into focus until I see the congressional seats, too.
I believe there’s “noise” about the presidency that isn’t really true.
Neither Obama nor McCain are all that relevant. They are both place-keepers.
So….what will happen down-ticket?
I personally am done with partisanship. Too many idiots on the Dem side this year has convinced me.
Byrd, for example. Get rid of him. What a piece of garbage.
A lot of these older Dems…..need to go.
They are no longer viable.
I guess what I’m saying is that we’ve seen the end of that old boys club, and it’s time for them to retire.
