Crunching Some Numbers — Jerome Armstrong Lays ‘Em Out — LOOK AT No. Carolina!

From “Kentucky (& NC) for Clinton“:

Update [2008-5-20 20:50:45 by Jerome Armstrong]: SUSA does poll both Obama and Clinton in North Carolina today. Obama loses by double-digits, while Clinton defeats McCain:

North Carolina

Clinton 49
McCain 43

McCain 51
Obama 43

[NEXT, MY FAVORITE LINE (SusanUnPC) ...]

Has Markos seen these numbers?

Going strictly by the latest poll shows Clinton leading by a 310-228 EV count over McCain, while the presumptive nominee, Obama, trails McCain by a 285-253 EV margin.

P.S. Just in case you missed my note about this below: FINALLY! THE TRUTH about that fabulous crowd Obama supposedly got in Portland:Free Concert by Popular Band Preceded Obama’s Big Rally.” (Another wet dream of the MSM about “The One” that isn’t the real thing..)

Kos is a “former” GOPer.

He knew this info all along.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-05-20 21:49:56

Most of the states Obama won are meaningless as well. He has won some states that haven’t gone Democratic since the 60s. Does he REALLY think he’s going to win Mississippi? Or any of the red states? Realllllly? What’s he going to do, round up all the Republicans and hide them?

Comment by Linda | 2008-05-20 22:38:38

LOL
Uppity, you are so right. I just go “Grrrrr” everytime I hear about all of the caucuses Obummer has won. Does anybody really think Obama could win Idaho or Utah in November? It is just propaganda to make somebody who is as shallow as the chrome used to be on the bumper of my old car seem like he is the risen christ. Yikes!!!!! No wonder I am so angry with those people.

Goodness gracious peace! Fuck Markos, has Dean seen these numbers? What in the world is the DNC thinking?

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-05-20 21:53:19

It doesn’t matter Sugar. The Fix Is In. It was IN a long time ago. Tomorrow three threatened or paid off superdelegates will come out for Obama even though he got his ass kicked tonight. This is shit for the birds. He cheated his way to this nomination and made SURE florida and Michigan couldn’t revote because he KNOW she would kick his smarmy ass. He took his name off the ballot in Michigan on purpose. He’s a smarmy piece of crap and I can’t wait to see his ass handed to him in November. Then that other radical left cliffer Dean can go do something else for a living and those nutcase off the cliffers can go to sleep for another decade. Cripes, how many of these jerks do they have to arrange before they get that the majority of this party does not want people like this running our country?

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-05-20 21:53:56

Maybe he thinks the country will Affirmative Action him to the presidency and he can skip the election.

Comment by ChrisXP | 2008-05-21 06:19:29

Or, the DNC wants a token to show someone but White men being nominees?

They must know that even Obama can’t win the GE.

Worse, when was the last time a 2 term president has another president from the same party? Reagan+G.H.W. Bush.

Do we really want to repeat 1980 thru 1992 again? With the same EC vote margin, too?

Comment by Kourian | 2008-05-20 22:29:58

Uppity is right, Sugar. They’ve made commitments. It’s not only the (conservative estimate of) $750,000 Barky’s used to buy SDs or even all the promises and threats his people have made - but the fix is in. This is why they’re panicky. Perspiring profusely as they say. The longer this stays out in the open the more difficult for them to explain why they don’t see the figures etc. What I can’t fathom is how Dean got where he was by being so stupid. He’s crossed paths with the Clintons before and he knows how tough they are. How could he have thought he could bamboozle them? It was very clumsy. Dean’s ruined the party. If Hill gets the nomination she and Bill first thing are going to have to get Dean and Brazile out of there. Pelosi too. First thing.

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-05-21 00:27:34

Kourian, when the DNC and delegates take all that Marxist cheese and then realize they need to run like crazy from the BO feeding trough to survive in November, there is no obligation to “honor the debt” and BO will get the subprime mortgage treatment.

I can hear the sound of large amounts cold hard cash with two feet on the brakes, coming to a screeching halt in a vain attempt to avoid the pile up on the beltway.

BUt even funnier, he said that some people **Think** the party seems divided but he doesn’t believe it. Oh Good. Keep playing with yourself about that Barky. You have no idea how much we hate you. You don’t have long enough to change our minds.

Comment by AF catfish | 2008-05-20 21:27:49

Oh yes it is so tone-deaf it’s unbelievable.

Starts by saying “I sure have a nice-looking wife and kids.” Gross! Sure his wife is lovely looking. But she wears heels and thinks it’s the year 1958. So not appropriate to say that given this race.

Comment by Kourian | 2008-05-20 22:35:43

Sorry. Taste in the eyes of the beholder. Barry’s wife is downright FUGLY.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-05-20 21:28:13

Oh yeah his “healthcare” plan. Even John McCain will save me more money than he will. I keep meaning to write about that fake healt care plan of his. So much crap on Barky. So little time.

Comment by Kourian | 2008-05-20 23:03:10

The health care is the deal maker for Hill, the deal breaker for Cheep Zoot. Especially for those who are new to the race and can’t figure out which is which and who is who.

Cross the pond and look how health care is supposed to work. Less than four years ago W was bamboozling people in the US, telling them health care failed in Europe. He even forced a laugh when he told them, great actor he is.

Back in 1993 Hill was wearing kevlar to campaign for health care. But there are so many nutters who were trying to get at her. Yes she received death threats. Then there was Krystol’s Harry and Louise campaign. The HMO/health/drug predators would pay anything to stop health care.

These predators spend an average of one billion per year to keep anything from happening in the health sector. They’ve been doing this for at least ten years now. People in the US are actually subsidising the lobbyists - they’re paying for their own shackles.

And so on and so forth. Krugman recognises Hill’s plan is more efficient and covers everyone. But Barky can’t say the same thing. That’s a ‘commitment’ and he may not make commitments for Axelrod. Also: there are powerful forces intent on stopping Hill again when she moves for her health care proposal. So Barky the change agent is actually, predictably, espousing nothing more or less than the status quo.

And honestly in all conscience: when you’re talking about something as important as health care - which Hill correctly assesses as a ‘moral issue’ - how can you try to smile and leave 15,000,000 people in the lurch?

The people in the US don’t need ‘reforms’ in health care - they need a system that works. And it’s about time. Fifteen years ago the Clintons tried to push it through - and the congress were totally enthusiastic. Then the right wingers got into the game and Harry and Louise started doing their kitchen budget calculations and Hill had to either close down the campaign - easy enough, the kind of thing Barky would do without hesitating - or don the kevlar and fight. She chose the latter.

It’s what they call guts. It’s what they call conviction. She had all to lose and nothing to gain and she went out and did it anyway.

It’s the deal breaker against Barky, the deal maker for Hill.

He says of Hillary: “we all admire her courage.” OK, I know he’s trying to win over women but…that’s not how you do it. She just spanked you in Kentucky.

He is talking way too loud. Too preachery in the cadence.

Too preachery in the cadence.

That cheap suit is more transparent than Saran Wrap. Seriously: take out all the repetitions in his stumps and you got about 8-10 words left. And I need not remind you he is not talking with his feet on the ground, he never gets down to brass tacks - he calls them ‘hypotheticals’ - and all he really is - is Jerry Wright in drag. It appeals to an intellectually less than stellar audience. And makes sagacious types like ourselves throw up.

That is so totally true. And you see right away on the telly how phony he is. The preteens can’t see it in the rallies. On the telly you see his beady little eyes rolling as he’s thinking. There’s no warmth there. There’s no love. There’s nothing genuine. It’s all calculated. Dirty cynical Chicago politics.

There are no smiles. No warm outgoing smiles. The only smiles are when someone compliments the arrogant Barky and he finds he can’t help grinning to himself. Yuck.

Takes about ten seconds top to suss him out and see through him.

Skipping CNN now that Kentucky is in. Think the Clintonians in Oregon know something we don’t? Wouldn’t a win be GREAT?

Comment by John | 2008-05-20 21:39:28

CNN Breaking News: Obama has won majority of elected delegates: “Despite Hillary Clinton’s big win in Kentucky, Obama has reached a milestone tonight..”

A lie, repeated often enough, becomes the truth when one side controls the media. Here is Exhibit A.

Michigan and Florida do not exist. Their existance is simply too inconvenient. So, they are gone. You need 2026 delegates to win the nomination now.

Obama better hope that Michigan and Florida don’t count in November, either, and the media can convince us that one needs 217 Electoral College votes to win the Presidency.

Comment by President Hillary Clinton will defeat Obama and his troll army! | 2008-05-20 21:46:22

Fuck CNN. They can’t wave a magic wand and make 2210 disappear.

Comment by AF catfish | 2008-05-20 22:34:56

Plus it’s not a majority that counts. You need the magic number, which is more than 2025, even CNN’s Gloria Borger said the number would change to higher than 2025.

2000 doesn’t cut it. You need the magic number.

How do they do that with mail in voting? How can they know? or do exit polls? they can’t - who counts these? Will they have opposing poll workers at each counting place?

I have many questions. LOL Some day I plan to get answers.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-05-20 21:54:19

Obama will never step foot in the White House as president. What a shame this was the DNC’s election to win and they are now going to lose it.

He’ll just say that KY didn’t matter because he didn’t campaign there. He only needed a few more delegates.

Her campaign will be repeating what they said last week. It’s BS.

She’s going to the convention. And from the looks of things, she may well end up being the nominee.

The exit polls in KY were devastating, and he can whistle all he wants, but the people are telling the party exactly what’s going to happen.

Did you folks notice something today about how the stupid pundits and the politicians, all of them, have been talking about Ted Kennedy?

All of them are describing him as the fighter for the working class, someone who has fought all his life and never quits in the face of adversity and how he will fight and beat cancer (and i wish his well, god’s speed). So to go back to my point: Ted Kennedy is a fighter , not a quitter and these are good qualities.

So, my question is: why aren’t they, these same stupid talking heads and all these politicians, talking about how a fighter and not a quitter Hillary Clinton is? She is fighting for the working class and not quitting in face of adversity too. She is fighting in a campaign and winning where she is outspend 4 to 1 and 5 to 1 and she is has not quit yet.

So the same qualities are upheld and appreciated as good qualities for one politician and negative qualities for the other one.

You tell me folks, explain to me because i might just be an idiot who happens to have a master degree from from an Ivy league school. What do i know?

Typical Narcissist he is.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-05-20 22:43:22

You know the crowds are sort of like a drug to Narcissist personalities. He’s on a high — and probably the crowd is ONLY koolaid drinking Obamabots. He feeds of the crowds — he feeds on the energy.

I am SO glad I don’t have a tv — I’d probably break the damn thing. During the Ray-gun years I wore out several mutes. I won’t let my husband have the mute because he wasn’t quick enough — I was on automatic — almost before RayGun would talk — I’d already hit the mute button.

With bush they got sneakier with the news promos — so I’ve given up — I NEVER want to hear bush’s voice again — and I NEVER want to hear snObama’s voice.

But from the photos and videos I’ve seen of snObama in front of an adoring crowd — he seems to be feeding on the energy of the people.

Clinton is very different — she is GIVING energy — and people respond.

I’ve seen evangelical ministers work a crowd like snObama does — strange vibes — very primitive. Those of you who’ve been in the fundamentalist/evangelical churches know what I mean.

This is why I KNOW that the video of Mrs. Obama testifying in church exists. Ministers like Wright can whip up a crowd — it is a mob like mentality — where people do and say things that normally are self censored. That self censoring of speaking out and “revealing” your sins is taken away by these manipulative high powered ministers.

Comment by Tom Plumb | 2008-05-20 22:57:15

What happens when the crowd turns on him, when he gets some negative press, to his face, some citizens who don’t adore?

Think he can handle it?

Comment by Clara Barton | 2008-05-20 22:48:23

This pre-emption attempt by BO will backfire. When was the last time the delegates of two states where ignored? How many people has BO actively BLOWN OFF?

It was interesting to hear John King doing his “MAP” and categorically state that BO “…desperately does not want to count the votes” when talking about Florida and Michigan. That has got a distinctive ring to it, like the sound of a cracked Liberty Bell.

The MSM’s velocity will accelerate to warp speed, like driving the roads on the east side of Lake Tahoe in a snow storm, to cover these “plunders of BO”… With the growing “War with Iran” distraction when Barky (woof) gets too radioactive.

BO will continue to take the bait from McCain and repeatedly demonstrate he does not know who he is talking to, what language they speak, where he is preaching the same old sermon, when things occurred in his past and why people and polls are saying the water in his “Hope and Change” bong is growing ’stuff’.

Obama makes a cameo appearance in “Independence Day” as Marty Gilbert (Harvey Fierstein)

Obama: A countdown?!… wait, a countdown to what David?
David Levinson: It’s like in chess: First, you strategically position your pieces and when the timing is right you strike. They’re using this signal to synchronize their efforts and in 5 hours the countdown will be over.
Obama: And then what?
David Levinson: Checkmate.
Obama: Oh, my God. I gotta call my brother, my housekeeper, my lawyer. Nah, forget my lawyer.

.

While this is going on Senator Clinton will watch BO’s numbers take a dump in states he “won” ala NC and stay on message. She has already shown she can keep it as real as it gets and MCCain will play hard ball, sure as an Alaskan sunset, but taking shots at BO and addressing only policy with Senator Clinton. She gets her message out by giving the MSM an ulcer playing it right down the middle. Bye Bye BO, hello to ladies “Secret”

Remember this, to a person except for BO, Senator Clinton is taken seriously.

I think Obama has given himself his own Obotamy. This is beyond kool-aid.

People are supporting Hillary Clinton because when it gets tough she shows her own self. She will go into the trenches to get votes to actually “touch” those uneducated hicks in KY and not send a southern boy surrogate with a $400.00 hair cut. That separates the true leaders from the wannabe’s

The urban elite and the media have been living in their own ghetto for so long that they have no clue what is going on in this country anymore. It is truly the Emperor’s New Clothes.

Clinton Campaign Raises $22 Million in April
Fundraising pace represents campaign’s 2nd best month of the campaign

The Clinton campaign tonight announced that it raised approximately $22 million in the month of April.

“Senator Clinton’s game-changing victories last month turned the tide for this campaign and resulted in an outpouring of grassroots support,” said Campaign Chairman Terry McAuliffe. “Just like Hillary, our supporters continue to fight. The support for Hillary continues to grow with each month and we are so thankful to the army of supporters who have assured that we’ll have the resources needed to win the upcoming contests.”

Included in the $22 million total, representing the campaign’s second best fundraising month to date, is $10 million raised by the campaign in the 48 hours after Hillary’s significant Pennsylvania victory. This total is in addition to a loan to the campaign of $5 million.

Additional details will be available in the campaign’s FEC report, to be released later this evening.

Let’s see….72% polled say keep going.
Landslide in KY
Exit polls show that 3 out of 4 voters will NOT vote for Obama in the fall
and she’ll have a big night tonight money-wise.

In fact, Kennedy’s news sort of blew Obama off the news. Nobody cares. They all are talking about Kennedy.

has anyone checked to see that all the
rock stars have filed the necessary
FEC information? after all, they are
donating their services to Obama, providing
thousands of free tickets to concerts
and giving access to concertgoers to
obama.

is this really legal?

they gave away free tickets in Indiana
for Dave Matthews.

In North Carolina, Arcade Fire played and
a local NC band of note (can’t remember
the name) which has made it big played.
One of those concerts was next to the
place where early voting was going on.

now the Decemberists in Oregon.

seriously, is this legal and what have
the groups filed, what has Obama filed, for
in kind contributions?

Comment by Ulahane | 2008-05-20 22:26:47

I can’t answer to the legality of it but it is quite common. Country singers typically do this for Republicans and Pop musicians for the Democrats. A complaint wouldn’t work.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-05-20 22:22:43

They already did, which is why the press was ready with her counter view.

He leaked it to see how it would float. I was just surprised he went ahead with it.

In any case, the exit polls in Oregon are about like usual. 22% of her supporters say they will not vote for him.

That’s the best he’s gotten so far.

The media note is amazing. This is the only place I’ve seen a link to actual reporting of the ‘75K rally for Obama.’ Now our media watchdog sites have gone AWOL too? It took a right-wing media watch group to notice that, um, the 75K people were attracted by a free rock concert? While it’s good staging on the part of the Obama campaign to take advantage of the support from a wildly popular rock band in this way, it’s completely disingenuous reporting to assert that the audience was there only to hear Obama. And that’s precisely what was trumpeted all over the MSM the day before the primary. I’m certain that skewed the % results in Oregon. When I first heard the story, I thought it sounded incredibly unlikely. Sure enough, my gut instincts were right again - the MSM was making a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. Popular vote means nothing if the voting public is misinformed by news outlets that are nothing but Hollywood scriptwriters in disguise.

Comment by mariner | 2008-05-21 07:17:26

Good grief! Obama can’t win for losing. LOL! Simply using the Alinski communist style tactics makes him a loser. Anyone who can’t win on the merits should never have been a candidate to begin with. With a resume like Obama has , he should not even be a state senator much less a US senator. Instead of people voting for him for the nomination for prez of the US of A — The lawmakers and Intelligence agencies should be invetigating this communist symphathizer. One thing is for certain. I will vote for the American, John McCain, who has fought the communist before I will vote for the man who befriended the communist symphathizers. That is a no brainer— UNLESS– Hillary Clinton is the nominee, then of course I will vote for her :).

These polls are a big red herring. For one thing, probably more than half the companies compiling the data are in the G.O.P. tank. Remember after Super Tues. Feb 5 when Clinton trounced Obama, how a poll came out immediately showing that only Obama beat McCain nationally? Same thing happened after Texas and Ohio. It’s all strategic planning and for now, it takes us off track. Obama will just argue to superdelegates that he’s going to balance his ticket with a big, tough white cowboy and in that manner shore up Appalachia. Better to be framing the debate like this: 1) Imagine the fallout from a G.O.P. attack ad next fall that shows Obama putting his personal ambition ahead of voter enfranchisement in Florida and Michigan. That’s going to hurt, don’t you think? And 2) Somebody needs to address the problem of Pelosi strongarming members of Congress to vote for Obama, else face consequences when they run for office next time. This could be a real showstopper at the convention.
