Ok, So Tell Us What IS Allowed

I’ve noticed a pattern here on the blogs of late and it was ratcheted up to deafening levels when people decided that BO’s already won our party’s nomination.  Ok maybe a while before that but my point is there’s a definite double standard here on the blogs and there has been for quite some time.  Anything goes when it comes to pointing out Hillary’s “shortcomings” or “faults”.  Hell they rip into her with half-truths, distortions, lies and some of the most misogynist and hateful shite I’ve ever seen.  And that’s coming from other Democrats!

But god(dess) forbid we point out BO’s short-comings or faults, or try to point out that the bridge is out and our party leaders are driving us straight toward the edge of a cliff in pushing Obama on us as our nominee.  If we dare question his ability to beat McCain – mention folks like his pastor of 20 years (Rev. Wright), his friend of 17 years (Tony Rezko), or that Ayers fella everyone’s been talking about, we’re tagged as divisive, undermining a guy who’s obviously going to be our nominee (according to his supporters anyway), disloyal to our Party, turncoats, GOP Operatives, Karl Rove mouth-pieces, or worse yet – racists.

I mean I catch hell for pointing out something as simple as the differences between their healthcare reform plans.  Or if I ask that most uncomfortable of questions – how does he plan to bring about all that change he’s always talking about?

If we point out the fact that he’s having a hell of a time appealing to the working stiffs out there people jump down our throat.  The lunch bucket work-a-day crowd and families just getting by (like mine) are not voting for him.  We haven’t and we won’t and if anyone dares point out that inability to attract voters like us, we’re painted as… well you know.  You’ve seen the “discussions” in the comments in response to things we’ve posted.

Take for example this latest report out of Kentucky, where Obama’s apparently not even bothering to campaign in the lead-up to tomorrow’s vote.  Even with Edwards’ recent endorsement, he’s given up and is blaming the coming shellacking on some emails and rumors.  I hate to point out the obvious but if BO claims he can’t win KY because of some emails and rumors, how in the HELL will he beat McCain when the RNC and the 527s really start in on him?

Obama blames Fox News, e-mail for likely loss in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, facing a likely defeat in next Tuesday’s primary election, won’t travel to Kentucky before the voting, but said he hopes to have much more time to win over Kentucky voters before the November general election.

He also blamed Fox News for disseminating “rumors” about him and said that that and e-mails filled with misinformation that have been “systematically” dispersed have hurt him in Kentucky.

When we point out that he’s made excuses like this in the past for losses like this, we’re called every name in the book.  When we point out that he and his team rarely take responsibility for these losses (ie no loss is ever his fault) rather than acknowledge that maybe he has a problem with those voters and come up with a plan to reach out to folks, we’re called divisive and accused of posting “hit diaries.”  When we ask whether it has ever occurred to the Democratic Party leadership, that if rumors and e-mails have hurt his ability to woo voters in Kentucky, what will the situation be when the Republicans REALLY start throwing the bs at him, we’re accused of being turncoats.

Watch the comments guys – the very fact that I’ve pointed out these weaknesses in his game-plan for the general election will elicit cries of foul and unfair.  But look around this site – there’ve been plenty of posts here about Hillary like this – only a lot worse.

Ok, I get it.  There’s a double standard here and I’ve finally figured out that we’re all playing by two very different sets of rules.  So do us all a favor – spell out for us just how we’re supposed to campaign for Hillary, and maybe point out how she’s a much stronger candidate than her opponent when it comes to going up against McCain in the GE without getting trashed or worse yet – stalked and insulted on a personal level.

And please (!!!!) do us the courtesy of respecting our intelligence and this process by refraining from telling us to be nice to BO because he’s obviously going to be our nominee, because that’s simply not the case here guys.  Nothing’s set for sure until the delegates vote on the convention floor in August.

We’ve still got a campaign here and we have just as much of a right to promote our candidate and question yours as you do.  So can we please dispense with the double standards, let the people vote and see where the dust settles come convention time?

Hillary’s not backing down and neither am I and dammit – I’ll make my case the same way you guys are making yours.  It’d be great if we could all do it on an even playing field for a change.

Three articles under category of “HOWARD DEAN’S RIGGED ERECTION” there now:

1. “If He’s So Confident, Why The Desperate Behavior? – Dean, Soros buy the Democratic Party” Three long paragraphs with little known info behind John Edwards’ endorsement of the big 0.

2. “Obama’s Advisers Push British Foreign Policy of Wars, Invasions Against Eurasia: Is That His Policy?” A story that might develop re similarities in foreign policy between McCain and big 0bi.

4. “LaRouche Answers Question on Obama’s Character” A fairly representative snippet:

” And you’ve got these people out there voting for Obama, who in many cases are waiting for it to descend upon them. He promises the revolution, he promises the Great Change. Where’s it coming from? If there’s going to be Great Change, you’re going to do something, aren’t you? What’re you going to do!?

“What’re you going to do, Obama?

“You haven’t done anything so far. You take in a lot of money, but what have you done? You haven’t done anything! What’re the problem of life, for people out there? What have you done about these problems? What have you done about the housing crisis? What have you done about the education problem? What have you done health-care problem? You’ve done nothing!

“You’ve talked about everything, like Elmer Gantry, the great swindler. Like the minister who creates more people behind the curtain, than he saves in front. That’s what it is, it’s Elmer Gantry.

“And the problem here is, is not the fact that he does that. That’s bad. The problem is: The people put up with it!…”

http://www.larouchepac.com I think there is much better stuff there than the first two above.

Hmm, when compiling your list of what is or isn’t allowed, don’t forget to mention how Obama has declared ex cathedra that it’s vorboten to, ahem, “attack” his wife. So that’s not allowed, either. It’s toooo divisive–pardon me, di-viss-ive-to parrot his received and affected pronunciation. DRILL TEAM!!

Also mention that when the pimped remark about Chelsea Clinton happened, he said nothing, and his supporters said Chelsea was fair game. She’s been fair game since she was the age of BO’s oldest daughter. So can we go full all out frontal on his little girl? (Not that I want to, but why was it all right with Chelsea? And it makes me crazy for this not to be acknowledged. It’s not part, it IS the problem!)

I think if you make racist statements, then you can be called a racist. If you don’t then you can’t be.
I think if you use Republican talking points, praise the Republican candidate over a Democratic one, and run to known mouthpieces for the RW (and favorably quote Rove), then the case can be made that you are, purposely or not, doing the work of the GOP.

Comment by BO by choice | 2008-05-20 10:11:28

I appreciate the better understanding of Barack Obama and his connections to his community. And this prolonged election has been good for that. I think reverand Wright’s controversial statements were not very controversial, but instead played toward a mindset of racial fear and are the Republican play book for the general election. They will paint Michelle Obama unpatriotic. They will make Obama look dirty. Unfortunately, none of this is very compelling to those of us who desire a change of course. We see it for what it is… People with no real ideas, who have to distract us from the real issues so they can continue to steal, kill, and pilage the world. Enough is Enough and we don’t want Hillary because she and Bill already had their eight years. If she can can count that as experience, then she already had her chance. Make room for the new and get over the fact that he’s a black man. I don’t care if he was a green alien from Mexico, he’s on point and no one else is.

Not to mentioned over used. The racism thing is no longer working … people are tired of it. If this song and dance is this “unifying” in a primary, imagine four years of it? Most people “get” what it would look like and don’t need to buy the picture and the frame …

Comment by Catriley | 2008-05-20 10:55:17

Once again another vague endorsement of Obama. All the cultish catch-phrases are there. Nothing of substance… change, change, change. Yeah, we get it. Change.

Racism? Hmmm.. I assume that you campaigned and donated to Alan Keyes, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson’s presidential bids. Right? I mean.. you did, right? Cuz if you didn’t, then you’re a total racist. How DARE you NOT donate and support Alan Keyes!! That makes you a racist, by the Obamabot logic.

What change would that be? I mean, the guy is up to his ass in corporate cash, energy company lobbyists, shadowy millaires, lobbyist bundlers, and republican strategists.

Tom Daschle one of his daily advisors is telling us all to fall in line with Obama. yeah.. Daschle, the lobbyist with the lobbyist wife. And then there is Axelrod, who worked for Exelon. Of course we have Kerry and Kennedy, dinosaurs of the Party in there.

Change? “real issues?” Sorry but your guy doesn’t seem to have a grasp of the REAL issues. He cannot even seem to talk without a teleprompter and a sound engineer and lighting designers, and make any sense. Peddle your cult elsewhere.

Comment by deke | 2008-05-20 11:20:15

You are right on Catriley. Obama stands for nothing but vague promises of NOTHING. His stand on the important issues are weak compared to all the other democrats who started out in the primary. He stands for nothing but himself and the entitlement of his supporters. The trashing of a successful democratic administration and the accusations of racism are unforgivable in my estimation. His dopey supporters offer no reason to support him beyond some mindless drivel about hope and change, unfortunately he has no track record to base his hope and change upon. I am sick of this primary and the way Hillary has been treated. For those reasons the Green Party is getting my money and support this election cycle.

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-05-20 10:59:26

Okay, this gets to the heart of the question in Alegre’s post. You talk about change and how Obama is “on point”, but you’re not telling us what that change is or how it’s going to come about.
Also, your comment shows contempt (even anger) against the Clintons. Is that what this is really all about? Get the Clintons out of the Democratic party at all cost—even if it means losing the White House in November. Does it really even matter to you who’s running against Hillary?
Think about what you’re saying. If America is really as racist as you think it is, then John McCain is an automatic win. End of story. If America isn’t as racist as you think it is, then you’re just ngering a lot of people by calling them racists when they’re not, and John McCain is an automatic win. End of story.

Comment by mimi | 2008-05-20 11:12:59

Are you AA? I am. And it’s very common to hear rhetoric like that in the black community. The problem is that a mainstream politician with designs on the WH has no business being SO CLOSELY associated with that mindset. As an ‘AA’, Obama certainly is supposed to understand it, maybe even defend it because of how blacks still feel the effects of racism, BUT NOT BE PART of an institution that espouses this type of ideology. Someone wanting to be president must identify with ALL of the people because the POTUS represents ALL of the people in this country. If he wanted to identify so closely with Black Liberation Ideolgy he should have remained a State Senator, where he could literally swap spit with Wright, Farrakhn, Ayers, Dorhn and that ilk. A smart, saavy politician would understand this. Isn’t that why he’s been running as a ‘transcendent’ candidate? Or at least trying to.

I find your remarks dissmissive of a legitimate response, the same I would feel if Clinton’s pastor suddenly had a tape calling AAs inferior, and other kind of racist crap. Look at the response by AAs over Hillary’s LBJ remarks. Historically accurate and even MLK is on record as having said something similar. Yet, the response was OVER THE TOP. To me, this is the real point of this article: the obvious DOUBLE STANDARD.

And people like you with your nose up in the air contemptuously dictating how white people should feel underscored the intent of this blog. If you are white, how much work do you do in the AA community helping the generationally poor and underprivileged? Frankly, if you’re black, same question. So get off your high horse. And tell me, was it the ‘Presidential Fairy’ who told you that Hillary had had her turn when Bill was president and therefore has no right to seek the Presidency?

But thank you for proving our point for us. You have absolutely no intention of addressing the double standard.

Comment by Dakinikat | 2008-05-20 11:28:55

I’m not AA. However, I live in the ninth ward of New Orleans and I teach at a very diverse university with a large AA student body. I live in the ninth ward because I like it here and I love the neighborhood. Needless to say, my salary down here is not even 1/2 of what I’m worth other places and my degree is very much in demand other places. I live here because I believe your life is only worth the actions you take.

I am the typical Hillary Clinton supporter–older white woman WITH two young hillary supporting daughters. I’ve been back living here in my home in the ninth ward about 3 weeks after Hurricane Katrina. The government response to Katrina was and continues to be a national disgrace. I will tell you the bottom line to me on this election. Hillary Clinton came down here with Mary Landrieu many many times. She has worked tirelessly on getting bills passed that help us rebuild our lives, the wetlands, and working levees. She’s been in our neighborhood many times. She talked to us, ask us questions, and found out what was needed. Obama came down here and gave a graduation speech to Dillard. That just says it all to me.

We are coming off 8 years of an administration that served one segment of society to be replaced by administration serving a constituency with a grievence toward society. Once I saw who was bankrolling Edwards poverty program, Soros, I knew the fix was in. I wonder why in the hell Edwards would sell his soul to Soros and Obama just to get that poverty project, when he knows in his heart that Obama cannot beat McCain and another republican in the white house renders any of Edwards’ grand schemes moot.

He would have been smarter to use his talents and energies to get Hillary the nomination, take the VP spot, and do his work from the White House.

Why don’t you go right ahead and try to peddle this offensive bullshit to all the Hillary supporters that ended up donating to the big Edwards Emergency to help keep him in the race and see what they tell you. Only to have him break his promise (AGAIN) a few days later just before Super Tuesday when he shockingly dropped out after he got the bucks. I know several Hillary supporters that were more than angry at getting used on that scam.

Then you can go peddle more bullshit to the Edwards supporters that did come to us Hillary supporters for a shoulder to cry on because they knew we had been kind and understanding all along. I know I comforted many of them and gave them their time and a place to mourn, as I sincerely felt bad along with them.

That feeling was cured for good last Wednesday night when Edwards had the nerve to arrogantly step foot into my state of Michigan for his Endorsement-Stunt-For-My-Email-Addie-In-The-Very-State-He-Fucked-Over-Our-Primary-And-Votes. Doesn’t work that way. If they really want to know how it feels to be a very small, overworked tool in a big, uncaring, single-focus organization, they should join the military.

But then…THAT would be….WORK!

To understand what is going on, you have to understand the blog group-think mentality. You have to look at what went down on Amanda Marcotti’s blog during that incident at Duke a couple of years ago to grasp what they are doing.

As far as I can tell, that’s where the practice of active censorship (as opposed to moderating trolls) started.

You have to remember that gen-y are joiners. Not in the real life sense, but they rack up iFriends like a score on a video game.

It creates an environment where the sheer force of the original blog post and the syncopathy that results (after dissenting views are eliminated) makes the bloggers statements look profound. “Wow look at that, a blog post and all 100 comments are in 100 percent agreement! This blogger is really on to something!”

When you add in the gen-y impulse to rack up iFriends, they tailor their writing to fit in with the culture of the blog (and alter their thinking).

Also, web sites like digg encourage self censorship, and the users will ‘block’ users who get big negative digs. They also (this part originated on slashdot) have user moderation thresholds, where the users never even read unpopular viewpoints.

The end result is this… A big unwieldy group of people that 90% probably don’t even know that there are people who don’t like Obama (everyone they meet online is an Obama sycophant) the other 10%, the riot organizers if you will, make use of the user moderation features. They make use of it punitively, but its effect is censorship.

Excellent analysis Greg. I think that the social networking aspect of this is really unexposed. I have a teen and a 20 something daughter, and nieces, and nephews. I have seen all of that firsthand. They exist in a bubble. My daughters are politically savvy because we all discuss it — but I can see from their friends on myspace and facebook that it’s all about following a fad, being “in” with the groupthink. Unfortunately for the DNC, that type of following fades fast.. already Myspace is being left behind for newer sites, and the cycle goes on.

GregA,

This is one of the reasons I still miss Steve Gilliard’s News Blog. During the Duke episode, there were a lot opinions that were allowed that didn’t agree with Steve. I didn’t always agree with Steve and vice versa. But there was always the ability to have a very energetic blog fight, complete with name-calling and cursing. Some people hated it and came once and never came back, but they could never accuse Steve of censorship. The only thing he censored was the female C-word. He hated Hillary but she couldn’t be called that on his site. If it slipped in it was removed as soon as he caught it. I often wonder how he would have been during this Primary race.

To me, it’s the censorship that’s caused a lot of the bad feelings. And I believe it was done to keep any real info about Obama from surfacing. If people had been allowed to have open discussion focusing mainly on policy, there would not be all these bad feelings now.

I commented yesterday on a thread that Obama’s ex-cathedra was issued as an edict to rally the troops. It’s clear that nothing they see on this tape will change their minds. They’ve already started. Hopefully, this was a ploy by Rove to obfuscate a second and more damaging tape or whatever of Obama that will be the game-changer.

But as I said above, they really have no intention of discussing the double standard.

Once again: Good luck with that strategy!

It’s really workin for ya!!!!

The Clinton campaign today announced Hillary Clinton will return to South Florida tomorrow, Wednesday, May 21.

She is going to Florida I presume to ratchet up the pressure on the delegate issue. And no whiny trolls can stop her. And no whiny trolls can prevent the rules committee from meeting on May 31. And no whiny trolls can prevent her from taking this all the way to the convention. Trolls, it must be fun feeling powerless knowing Hillary and her supporters outsmarted you.

What has happen in my opinion the Clinton supporters have remain nice and presented facts in their reporting of Obama (Obamaians find that unacceptable) . The Obamaites want Armageddon against anyone who’s not baptized in the blood of HOPIUM. You know the kind “Jim Jones Drinkers”. Now Obama he doesn’t want to represent all American only his adoring FANS. He lacks leadership skills, foreign policy skill and economics skills, but thats not important because hes uniter. hes united the rap crowd, with the psychedelic mushrooms crowd , and the I am not racist I voted for the black guy crowd. If you writers have grown from those days and have reach that level of mature conscienceless you don’t appeal to these groups, and you’re not invited to the party and you can’t have any of our HOPIUM.

I don’t see that there is an answer to this question. The Obama people want you to jsut not ask any questions about the qualifications of their beloved candidate. You need to just accept the crap and go on with your little lives. Anything contrary to this is considered racism.

Yeh, one little comment for Obama. Your wife campaigns for you and makes stupid little comments. She is fair game. Wait until the Red side starts up on her.

If Senator Obama decides to declare victory, it will blow up in his face. Our last stand will be the DNC Rules committee on 5/31.

I’ll tell you one thing. If those delegations are not seated, this younger male, latte drinking, white collar, upper middle class, college educated, Boston living, white wine aficionado will be in Denver rooting for my girl Hillary.

This is ridiculous. Obama wants an open, fair discussion of ALL the issues, with only a few minor exceptions:

1. No discussion of Domestic Policy experience. That’s Old Politics.

2. No discussion of Foreign Policy experience. Judgement is what matters.

3. No talking about race, unless you want to accuse McCain and Hillary of being racists.

4. No debates.

5. No talking about solutions. Only Ideas.

6. No talking about Michelle. Just listen to her, attend her rallies, give money, and shut up. She’s Out of Bounds. This is your last warning.

Otherwise, feel free to discuss anything. Hope. Change. Stuff like that. After all, this is America. All fifty-three states of it( fifty-seven minus West Viginia, Kentucky, Michigan and Florida. The freak states.)

When a Dad rescues a son like Bill Ayers, throws money at him, it means the Dad has given up on the kid, throws money at him to shut him up, make him go away, giving the pest a pacifier.

And the kid knows, Ayers KNEW his Dad didn’t give a shit about him, just wanted to shut him up, throwing money at each fire Ayers created, whether it was blowing up the Pentagon, or “nurturing” Obama, for the revolution, in the banana republic that is Bill Ayers head, perhaps a place named Billador, not unlike Oakland. And from far and wide it drew the rejected sons of other dysfunctional fathers, creating “Northern California.”

But I digress, sorry.

Most hurt like hell…

A Dad who loves his son invests in him, spends time with him, mentors him.

It seems to be one thing the Bush’s and the Ayers and the Obama’s had/have in common, fathers who thought the sons weren’t worth the time…

What’s allowed is that you must not ask what Obama has done, where is his record of accomplishments, what qualifies him. The allowed responses to such questions will be personal attacks meant to try to one-up you into believing you don’t know what’s going on, and only the informed elite do, sweetie.

Bollocks. We are supporting Hillary, a candidate who has considerable achievements, a demonstrable record, speaks to O’Reilly (and the Reds) like full-on presidential material she is.

They’ve got a guy who would be fabulous at giving inspirational Sunday morning sermons in an Evangelical church. That’s his calling – he should follow it.

However, giving inspiring speeches and leading the free world are two entirely different missions, and should not be confused in any way. Gen Y’ers would do well to study a little history, take a good look at current affairs instead of Brittany’s latest troubles, and not assume that condescension and snideness are the tools of wit and argument.

We need to game-change on them, and insist they come up with solid arguments, or be laughed off every blog with thinking people as a regular audience.

The unity pony ain’t looking too appealing when all there is to see is big a**.

the thing about the obama supporters is that they are living in a land of delusion. pure delusion.

they think nothing can sink obama. they are in for a seriously sad wake up call, should he be the nominee in the fall.

in the reality based political world – the issue of michelle’s comments, his comments, his associations with ayers and wright, rezko, and other crooked chicago politicians, will matter. they will matter in a general election when the media turns on him and its not just a primary anymore.

personally, i’ve talked to many progressives who do not care abot his associatons, agree with wright and radical activism, agree with his comments and michelles… but they still feel nervous about him as a candidate because of them. i’m one of these people. i don’t care about wright and i know he joined his church for political reasons. he dealt with ayers because he needed something from him. throwing them under the bus makes him another phony politician in my book, but fine, its what you have to do. however, don’t think it won’t matter in the fall.

people who remember elections from 2000, and 2004 KNOW how much this stuff matters, weather its true or not, twisted or not. and he can’t deflect and throw people under the bus forever, he can’t give a fancy speech and make people swoon each time he screws up and some news gets out about his past.

he does not have the resilliancy of the clintons. he has the media and the democratic establishment on his side now. thats what has gotten him through this primary. he was propped up to edge out the strongest candidate, only to eventually get beaten down in the fall.

naive democrats are failing to see the reality of this.

I agree. And I believe those behind Obama are banking on that delusion and want the nomination, among other reasons , because they are not after riots just in Denver….but in many places. I also believe many in Obama’s camp are happy just to wreck the Dem party and STOP HILLARY. Winning the GE isn’t on their minds. Thanks Alegre- What I see happening and which you show so wonderfully in your posts, is very frightening. Obama’s supporters allow absolutely NO oppostion of any kind. They have no ability to think historically or to think ahead. I am old enough to remember the Soviet Union and what happened to dissenters during the communist regime. The OFB has no clue that when they suppress free speech, sooner or later, their speech too will be suppressed.
Keep telling the truth! Shout it from the rooftops!
Change??? They can not answer the question “What change?” The answer I get from watching the behavior of his mob on the net and at the caucuses is change to a dictatorship and worship of “the ONE” No thanks, this is America, still.

How bout: Forget trying to tell us what’s allowed. We’re not playing that game anymore.

Today, WomenCountToo took out a full-page ad in the NYTimes. The response? Unbelievable. Editorials from men saying that women are “politically immature.” Another show dismissed callers, saying, “You must not be Democrats.” Another article labeled it as Clinton’s fault, saying she rallied the women. Not true, we all know. Obama’s campaign thinks that the problem is she won’t quit. Once she quits, we’ll all slink back to the party and vote for him.

Alrighty then, time for the next move. I’m going to write my senators and representatives personally and explain that I will vote for them ONLY if they speak out against the treatment Hillary is receiving AND vow to pledge their SD vote to her. Those are my requirements.

Then, I’m actually going to send the registration in showing that I’ve withdrawn from the Democratic party to the DNC.

If they wish to call this “immature,” they should feel free to label it any way they want.

But…they are going to hear me, too.

I was called out for typeing “colored people” in a comment. I was told that was a racist term. But then I was also told I should referr to “colored people as AAs (african american I suppose). But then another AA or “colored” person informed the other offended AA that not all “colored people” are AAs. The defender of my “colored people” said “I have a lot of “colored” friends from the Islands who are not AAs and it is not proper to call them AAs. In short my defender said “the sun does not rise and set on the AAs” rather it rises and sets on all people, the red, the brown, the white, the yellow, the black , people of all “COLORS”. Even if Obama does get the nomination we still have the right to be able to inform ourselves– even if he should become president we will still have the right to ask questions and inform ourselves and when I say “WE” I mean people of all “COLORS” who are Americans. Even Jesse Jackson often referrs to “PEOPLE OF COLOR” and you can’t get or be any more AA than Jesse Jackson.

Comment by mimi | 2008-05-20 15:32:32

The term ‘colored’ is a term from the past that included slavery, segregation, Jim Crow. You’d be better off using black, or even Negro.

The term ‘people or persons of color’ is fine and includes all black people from the diaspora: Africa, South and Central America, and the Caribbean. You could also say Caribbean blacks if you want to refer to them. Black latinos prefer to identified soley as latino. About the only time you hear a latino being referred to as black is if it’s with regard to a description for police purposes or if that particular latino identifies heavily with their African ancestry.

If you try to shortcut it by simply saying colored, it doesn’t have the same meaning and is a throwback to America’s overtly racist past.

“…I just think that, if we are to continue a true movement that will allow us to move forward with a progressive agenda, we must stay away from the animosity, fabrications, and name calling.”

And my response was…WHAT movement?

I’m not a part of some “movement.” I did not sign up to become a card-carrying member of some “progressive movement” and now that means I can’t speak up against Obama.

It’s a total double standard. And so completely patronizing.

And that this was characterized as a “movement” chilled me to the bone.

When will these people learn that elections are not about MOVEMENTS? And when they speak in those terms, they sound scary. This is a Democracy. He is one candidate. I have chosen the other. That is my right. If he wants my vote then he has to answer my questions. He doesn’t get to decide which questions I can ask. Does he think that he’ll be able to get away with that as POTUS? So he might as well start practising with me on how to handle the Washington press corp. Unless, he’s going to become a dictator and throw out the Constititution?

If that’s the Movement they are talking about. Count me out!

Does anyone else findd it “funny” that they are voting by mail in Oregon? This is something that Barack would not agree to in Floria and said he would challenge …. so its okay when the state polls proBama, but a no-no when they are NoBama? I don’t think you can get a better example of the REAL Barak H Obama than that ….

Comment by Iron Man | 2008-05-20 16:25:16

beebop,
Oregon has been voting by mail for years. they have a specialized cross reference system that took them years to perfect. You can’t put together a mail in on a whim and expect it to have integrity.

Todd Beeton over at mydd has taken up the DailyKos user guidelines these days by limiting sources allowed in comments and diaries, as well. If you’re not TOWING THE LINE on Obama, you’re a REPUBLICAN TROLL now.

Obama can invoke Reagan as a “transformational” president, and say Republicans are “the party of ideas,” but THAT WAS THEN. THIS IS NOW.

We’re a “Democratic Blog” and if you think using right-wing talking points is fair, then maybe you belong elsewhere. Only OBAMA gets to use right-wing talking points

Harry & Louise anyone?

In other words, It’s Obama Country: LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT.

These days: BloggerBoyz. Wingnuts. Equivalent.

I was wondering how long it would take them to cave. There was a post from one Obama guy suggesting that MyDD was being well paid to do in the Clinton people.

Looking Back With Anger

By attempting to play kingmaker for their man Barack Obama, the MSM and half of Washington have attempted to destroy the Clintons. In final analysis, they will succeed only in destroying both. I pray my party changes course immediately and stops the bleeding of these self-inflicted wounds.

What is this crap? Why are we “bending” to his rules? Where are OUR RULES? WHERE ARE OUR RIGHTS?

Alegre, MyDD has thrown out most Clinton supporters.
They did this to mislead viewers into thinking no one agrees with you.
Those guys are too much!

Of course, you are all right. However, we have to stop complaining Stop it now! It is time to roll over the opposition. I don’t want to be cozy with people who treat us like shit. Buckle up, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

he’s given up and is blaming the coming shellacking on some emails and rumors

Yeah right.

I hate to point out the obvious but if BO claims he can’t win KY because of some emails and rumors, how in the HELL will he beat McCain when the RNC and the 527s really start in on him?

That’s a hypothetical and Barry doesn’t like to talk about hypotheticals. ;)

OMG that jerk is too rich for words.

he hopes to have much more time to win over Kentucky voters before the November general election

Where’s he going to get the time? He’s turned half the Dems into outright – and justifiable – hostility and the Republicans who helped him win his Republican primaries aren’t going to be voting for him. Where’s he going to get the time? More BS from the King of BS.

When we’re able to campaign in a place like Iowa for several months and I can visit and talk to people individually, I do very well.

Maybe. But mostly if they’re not able to talk back and ask any questions. Seriously: this guy is a joke. He can’t debate because he has no grasp of facts and has trouble with his grammar and with occasionally stuttering – he won’t debate. How is this person running for political office?

So far his machine’s undermined all competitors in his few campaigns. He’s never run a real campaign before in his life. Just this one – against a woman. How is he going to run for – or fear and tremble – hold public office?

called back to Washington

To convene the Afghan committee perhaps?

he’s stumped in Oregon

Operative word: ’stumped’. With speeches written for him and on the intellectual plane of a four year old or first time voter whichever comes first.

Michelle is slated to campaign in Kentucky on Monday

That would be fun to witness but I’ve always been a fan of Schadenfreude.

Thanks Alegre-

I also want to commend you on the conference call.

with all respect, to you and yours and for all you say and do…

Your article fits closely with Ray McGovern’s concern about big media being a big problem.

In an asymmetrical ‘civil war’ that America is consumed with, what we are allowed to speak of is Truth to power.
You do it well.

I have been WARNED on mydd. I have refused to acquiesce to TODD’s warning, because I think his words are chicken-sh*t. I won’t succumb to Todd’s authoritarian views that HE is the arbiter of what sites I can link to as sources. “Progressives” have now turned into WINGNUTS on so many sites, I’m relegated to a FEW free-thinking, independent, critical thinking sites in order to support Hillary Clinton–A DEMOCRAT.

This is just sad. Pathetic. Unconscionable.

Shame on you Todd Beeton.

You’ve turned into the worst wingnut imaginable.

God Bless Ted Kennedy. Keep him strong, and give him peace.
