Mushrarraf’s US-Based Family Supporting Obama

The Times of India is reporting that:

Musharraf’s brother and son, who are based in the US, have been making generous donations to Obama who is a strong opponent of the Bush administration. Naveed Musharraf, the president’s brother, and Irum Bilal Musharraf, his daughter-in-law, have reportedly given donations to Obama instead of Republican Party’s John McCain.

According to US federal election commission records, Musharraf’s family has never been supportive of Republicans in terms of donations.

The family had supported John Kerry against George Bush in 2004, the News has reported. It is well known within the Pakistani community in the US that Musharraf’s family, including his son Bilal, have been quietly asking him to revise his decision to continue fighting for his position.

I guess they do not remember these comments:

How can foreign nationals living here contribute to a presidential campaign here?
Are there not laws prohibiting this?

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-05-27 21:00:04

From Gaza with Love…Starring Obama Sharif.

Eurogirl70, Obama makes NO effort to follow Election Laws including this. He did not need any stinking laws in Chicago, why should he start now?

Obama is such a dip wad. What else can you say?

Resident aliens can legally contribute to candidates and I am guessing that they are legal aliens. In that, there is no foul, it’s more the disconnect between Obama and his lack of foreign policy knowledge that worries me.

Comment by bigkitty | 2008-05-27 20:57:45

At the very least there would appear to be a significant conflict of interest.

It matters.

Maybe Barky can get a endorsement from AQ Khan, that would really cement his standing in the international community.

With all the ties to the middleast and anti isreali interest and money his campaign is constantly trying to hide and deflect questions about and avoid having the in the tank media get wind of, i just don’t understand why they are so obsessed with avoiding using his middle name of Hussein.

Oh wait, i guess i do.

Umm. What laws were broken again? Just curious.

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-05-27 23:18:06

The laws of gravity for one, when it comes to Obama.
The laws of decency, he’s class A felon.
The laws of karma, definitely!

The Oath he took to protect and defend the U.S Constitution and the one he took as a State Senator of Illinois.

RICO laws rings a bell as well.

“Everyone else was doing it!”, is not a legal defense either.

That help?

Comment by Charles Lemos | 2008-05-27 22:21:52

Maddie, No one has suggested that any laws were broken but Obama has suggested bombing Pakistan, an ally, unilaterally and ties to Mushraff’s family show a disconnect between support for Obama and his lack of foreign policy experience. That’s what I am pointing out. If foreign policy matters to you, then you show not be voting for Obama because he has continually made missteps throughout his campaign. In foreign policy, such blunders have long lasting effects.

Comment by kat in your hat | 2008-05-27 22:33:01

Because all the right people know that Obama lies to the media and US citizens.

Obama is totally fake.

Comment by kat in your hat | 2008-05-27 22:33:28

Obama is a fraud.

Comment by DCMediagirl | 2008-05-27 22:39:03

There’s a larger issue here which is fascinating. Bush and his administration have been Musharraf’s strongest supporters for years, even to the point that administration officials had to literally go out and beg the newly elected government of Pakistan to not be too mean to Mush. The fact that Musharraf’s family donates to Democrats at all is beyond ironic. Biting the hand that feeds you? Yeah, looks like it.

Comment by One Southern Girl | 2008-05-28 11:07:32

My thoughts exactly–very ironic.

The only motivation I see for any rogue leader (Muslim or otherwise–including Castro, Chavez) to support Obama is his obvious weakness.

Comment by jyotinc | 2008-05-27 23:34:55

A Muslim is always a Muslim, although he said he renounced his birth right religion. I’m not shocked if the Muslim world are behind him 100%. Obama’s talked of bombing Pakistan is only a macho stance and expediency. He’s dangerous man! We should use all our resources to defeat this man.

Comment by Bertha | 2008-05-28 13:10:48

I agree with jyotinc. The Muslim world is behind Obama because they recognize that he’s one of them. He was indoctrinated in the Koran as a child and has sought out his father’s roots (which are deeply Islamic)following his rejection of his mother and her family. His statement about bombing Pakistan is pure deception; “taqiyah” as the Muslims say, which is a strategy sanctioned in the Koran for Muslims to use against non-Muslims. Obama’s record fund-raising should be viewed in the context of the Islamic world funneling large amounts of money into his campaign. We are being set-up for defeat in the war against a totalitarian, barbaric, and anti-human ideology!
