Ferraro On Phony Race Cards, Sexism and Fed-Up Women

Geraldine Ferraro sure is in touch with how the insulted women of America feel and how little chance Barack Obama has of realizing his “confidence” in “bringing the party together”. She also has a realistic grasp of how sick and tired we are of seeing the Race Card played as a diversionary tactic.

Apparently the Obama Campaign, in their typically rude and threatening fashion, put Geraldine Ferraro’s phone number on the internet in the George Bush tradition they so naturally have embraced — so sycophants could dutifully harass her. But that backfired because, in addition to the expected Bush Obama campaign vitriol, Mrs. Ferraro also got plenty of phone calls from disgusted women who gave her an earful about exactly what they think of Barack Obama.

The only difference between Geraldine and me is I couldn’t care less if Barack Obama reached out to women now. I find him to be a dishonest vote panderer who doesn’t mean a word he ways, whether it’s to Jews, Typical White People, Women or any other voting block he disdains. I will never vote for Barack Obama and I will do my very best to make sure that everyone I know does not vote for him. For me, it’s a crusade against an incurable bigot, racist and sexist pig. Or as Geraldine put it:

“I don’t know how he gets these women who are so angry to vote for him.”

I agree — Obama is a poseur and I do not believe his distancing statements. For example, Pfleger has been a protector of Farrakhan’s antisemitism for a few years.

The word IS getting out. Look at Rasmussen today. http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/overall_favorable_ratings_for_presidential_candidates

Obama has a 52% unfavorable rating, and more ominously his very unfavorables have jumped to 37%, 5 worse then Hillary and 13 worse than McCain. In the heady days of February his unfavorables were under 20.

Comment by Pittsburgh4Hillary08 | 2008-05-30 10:42:16

that is because of the Republician press and the Pro Hillary blogs that is happening plus all this racist name calling that he participates in.

Comment by Andy | 2008-05-30 10:42:59

Obama 52% unfavorable ratings? What a uniter … (snark)

All this crap about HRC negative ratings is just that a pile of crap. Obama has now higher negative ratings!! How about that for the hopish hopey hope candidate?

Comment by Pittsburgh4Hillary08 | 2008-05-30 10:49:19

Yes he is an uniter lol he makes people hope that he goes away and he makes me want superdelagates to change from him to her.

I’ve always thought Obama was Bush! Same campaign, same slogans.

Can you imagine the glee conservatives will feel when Obama displaces Bush as worst president in U.S. history.

When will enough be enough?

How many of these tapes bad mouthing white americans need to be shown before people care?

As usual if you look at Democratic Underground they are making the usual excuses and think this is OK????

What will it take for people to WAKE UP?

Comment by rojo | 2008-05-30 10:41:55

There are at least two more Father Pfleger appearances at TUCC on YouTube that show how hateful he is.

I take great exception to the “canned” statement from Obama on how these comments don’t reflect his beliefs. I call BS on that. I think these are somehow working for him.

He needs to apologize publicly to Hillary, Bill, and Geraldine. His apology needs to be precise and sincere, not more rhetoric. Since I am positive he doesn’t have that in him, the response he has given speaks right smack dab to the core of who he is.

Comment by Pittsburgh4Hillary08 | 2008-05-30 10:46:52

No because he is an liar he lied about his entire childhood that is a disgrace but the SDs are terrified. I say that she takes it to the convention and fight them all the way. I do not want her to unite with him I think that is going to be a disaster for her. I am hoping that she cares enough about the country not to abdonon it in favor of that dangerous man.

Yes Gerry!

Just where were those DNC members when Mrs. Obama very publicly stated that she’d “have to think about it?”

Much like her husband, she received a complete pass from the MSM on the subject.

My advice to Hillary: Suspend your campaign after next week and wait until August. We have no idea how high his unfavorable ratings will climb. I feel they are incapable of uniting the party. They would need Bill to do this and they know it!!!!

Piss ants.

Comment by Pittsburgh4Hillary08 | 2008-05-30 10:53:44

I loved that about Gerry she told it like it is. I say to Michelle the unpatrotic racist if it werent for women like Hillary and Gerry she would never be a highly paid professional woman she would not have gone to law school does she respect that hell no she just disrespects them. Perhaps Michelle thinks she got to law school because she is black but that would only have helped her if she were a male but she is not a male but a female and she should pay homage to the women who made the road easier for her to travel.

Comment by Betty | 2008-05-30 13:02:19

Why does she need to suspend her campaign?

Comment by ablebodied | 2008-05-30 10:17:53

Geraldine learned her lesson. The first thing she did when answering the ‘will you vote for Obaba’ question was qualify it as something an Obama also said. If she would have prefaced her comments about Obama way back with, ‘Just like Sen. Obama said in the spring of ‘07…’, the focus, if folks were going to focus on anything, would have been on why HE felt that way and not why GF is a racist. Very smart, Geraldine. At least somebody is paying attention.

Comment by No Blood for Hubris | 2008-05-30 10:19:33

The Pfleger video is enough. No other videos needed.

Which is why the media whore media won’t touch it.

It is vilely sexist. It is vilely racist.

Obama’s church cheered wildly at both the sexism and the racism. These are Obama’s peeps.

Let America know.

Comment by Hillary or Bust | 2008-05-30 11:43:37

I wish someone with some balls would call for Obama to step down after that video. I think the video is THAT offensive. And yet once again the Dem leaders are trying to ignore the issue and force him down our throats. WHAT is going on?

Comment by nasty pooposi | 2008-05-30 12:27:02

Hillary actually went to work for the Katrina victims and pushed through help. Obama? Showed up for a photo op.

Comment by vee | 2008-05-30 10:22:06

Anyone who wants a concrete and simple example of the kind of judgment Obama has need look no further than Obama’s “famous” race speech. His comparison of the vitriolic Wright to Ferraro is one of the most egregious political acts I can remember. Ferraro’s comments were very similar to comments Obama has been making for years.

That one instance alone is unforgivable in a political contest. The fact that Obama was willing to demonize a fellow Democrat makes it all the worse.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-05-30 12:24:48

I agree, Vee. I began to pay closer attention to the editorial writers, too, and to the so-called progressive bloggers when not one of them paid attention to that absolute petty and vengeful streak in his speech, calling it a great moment in speeches. *blink*

I’m so glad that the speech is now trashed due to Wright’s behavior and now, this guy.

Vindication.

What was apparent to me, too, was how incredibly stupid he can be. Ferarro had nothing to lose by doing exactly what she’s doing…sticking right by her words, using her position on Fox TV to repeat the message, and making sure she speaks out against his sexism, race-baiting, and now, his ignoring the reality that he will never win over Hillary’s supporters after playing all the dirty tricks.

I loved her response today. “I’ll be like Michelle Obama and think about it.” *hooting*

What a dummy he was to scapegoat an older woman like her. He must think women are push-overs.

This one is the one who will keep on dishing it back to him, and I suspect she’ll do it if he’s the nominee, right up to November. She’s not only not going to back him. She’ll be his nightmare: The representative Democrat Woman who crossed over to the other side.

It doesn’t matter what Obama says from this point on. I will never believe him. He is an arrogant, lazy, greedy piece of crap, and I will never vote for him. Allowing the Clintons to be labeled as racists without doing a damn thing to stop it, showed me what Obama was and is–a dirty, mean-spirited SOB, who will go to any lengths to win.

Comment by Mary | 2008-05-30 10:49:24

I feel the same way.

I will not vote for Barak Obama under any circumstances.

He does not represent the true core principles of what used to be my Democratic Party. And he does not exemplify my values.

Not now. Not ever.

When Obama loses in November and all the DNC elites wonder what went wrong, we will all be able to say I told you so. After this latest video, I don’t see why anyone who supported Clinton would vote for Obama. That video with Fr Pfleger was insulting in so many ways. Clearly, Obama allows this kind of talking to go on behind closed doors otherwise things like this would not be said.

Comment by K. Wynne | 2008-05-30 11:40:29

Ellen,

Should the DNC coup be realized and they manage to game the system and disenfranchise enough citizens to do it, then when Obama loses in November, THEY WILL BLAME IT ALL ON HILLARY!

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-05-30 14:35:18

Of course, they’ll blame it on her. She didn’t drop out of the race, so he would have enough time to campaign and make up with all of the voters he and his supporters have insulted. But I can tell them that (at least for this voter) four years wouldn’t be enough time for him to convince me.

Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid have stated they will force the super delegates to make a decision now, further disenfranchising those of us who support Hillary. My e-mail to Speaker Pelosi at AmericanVoices@mail.house.gov……….

We are 74 yrs. old, life-long democrats, party workers who knock on thousands of doors in our area to support democratic candidates. We have NEVER been so disillusioned with our party as we are now.

Clearly the democratic primary process which has been exposed in this primary election is UNDEMOCRATIC and designed to ensure that voters DO NOT choose the democratic nominee, ELITIST PARTY INSIDERS do that.

And now Speaker Pelosi, you state you will end the nominating process before ALL candidates have decided to leave the campaign?

WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? We voters are citizens who determine who OUR candidate will be, not you.

Speaker Pelosi you were unwilling to pursue impeachment of criminals Aty. Gen. Gonzales, VP Cheney or President Bush but YOU WOULD DENY DEMOCRATIC VOTERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHOOSE OUR CANDIDATE?? What a disgrace you have been.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-05-30 10:40:26

She has no power. They have been bullying the SDs.

The SDs will decide when they are ready to decide, and my guess is that this demonstration is going to shock more than a few into realizing just how serious this rift is in the Democratic Party.

They are going to be more than a bit worried about being viewed as disloyal to Hillary. Why not wait until the convention?

I would. Particularly if I was a man up for reelectin. :)

Comment by workingclass artist | 2008-05-30 10:46:15

I’m with you. Obama is the biggest fraud in American history. He is George W. Bush on the left. Those big rallies and Obamabots really scared me to death. It only reminds me of Hitler, Stalin, Mao etc.

Remember, Hitler was ‘elected’. If Obama gets the nod, it’s probably going to be the final nail in the coffin of America.

Fr. Pfleger performed this stand-up routine in Obama’s Trinity Church, as a visiting cleryman. Pfleger now has the national exposure he has been craving, but he may have provided additional ammunition to the Internal Revenue Service in their review of the tax exempt status of Trinity. Way to go, bonehead! The comments section of the Chicago Tribune article in today’s tribune is an eye-opener as well. The tribune posts the video, and they have about 200 comments so far, pretty much evenly split between clueless apologists and outraged supporters of all three remaining contenders.

Geraldine is a shero for all women. Such a classy lady.

Obama will never get my vote. It isn’t on behalf of how they’ve treated Hillary and Geraldine, though that certainly is included.

It’s because he has proven himself to be dishonest, a dirty player, disrespectful to many, elitist, inexperienced, incapable, a bully, and his ability to utilize good judgment is missing. I can’t stand the sound of his sermonesque style of speaking, and the condescending manner he uses. His cocky statement that by November we’ll all just fall into his camp and give him our votes…he needn’t do anything.

I’m hoping to see an active campaign against Obama if he steals the nomination in August, as expected.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-30 11:01:31

How can you look at her, listen to her, know her history and compare her in any way to Jerry Wright? What an insult!!!

She has so much class and dignity. I was so pleased to hear her talk about his interview where he talked about his race. That is on his senate page for goodness sake.

I can’t believe that there is a female Democrat over the age of 38 who will vote for Obama. He has dissed women repeatedly during his campaign.

Last night a priest at a New York State dinner where Cheney spoke took a knock at Pfleger. Isn’t it sad that it’s the Republicans going to bat for Hillary and not one Democrat speaking up? What the hell is wrong with this party?

Comment by Nicole | 2008-05-30 15:48:32

I also can’t believe any woman or man under 38 would vote for Obama! By that age, they should be fully functioning and able to gather and analyze data. Such fools…

There is a need to be very persistent, and understand the mind set we are dealing with, apparently very Arab, and given Obama’s connections, very corrupt, even mafia.

They are not known for enlightened, inclusive cooperation.

Identifying the problem is half the battle, no sense in all this false foam, when the real issues are not being addressed.

Maybe we need to dig a little deeper, and try to understand why they, the DNC, and such, aren’t responding to very obvious, REASONABLE, concerns.

The ability to copy a script, and push a button, in regard to a googlebomb is not indicative of superior intellect.

Sorry.

Comment by gigglechick | 2008-05-30 10:32:35

I will be writing Hillary’s name in (that is, if she’s not on the top of the ticket!)

Comment by Kevin | 2008-05-30 10:44:13

Be careful Giggle, some states will count a write in as a vote for the nominee on the ballot.
And if you’re not in Pelosi’s district, try this
AmericanVoices@mail.house.gov

Comment by Mary | 2008-05-30 10:54:51

And in some states, a write-in will be discarded completely.

Find out about your state’s rules.

Or vote for McCain, so the DNC knows exactly how you feel.

Comment by Deke | 2008-05-30 11:12:44

I think the best strategy is to vote for all dems who support Hillary and don’t vote for anyone else. Leave the ballot blank for President if Hillary is not the nominee.

Comment by SJ | 2008-05-30 10:33:30

I love the our time has come statement by Gerry since I heard that statement from the very first day I have always wondered what the hell did Obama mean, and who exactly was he talking to.

If he was running for POTUS whose time has come? If he was to win he would of been President of all of us, not just one section of the society, what he was clearly saying is that black people time has come, and calling on the black population to support him because this was there chance now.

In the same regard the statement by his wife as to when would blacks wake up and get it, what she wanted to say to all black was it was time to put a black man as president, so wake up.

To the Obama’s it was always race black against white who wants to admit that is not so is being dishonest when you look at these utterances, even this latest gaffe by the priest once again its black against white, a black man beating this white woman who is this great force in politics the Clinton’s.

This election for blacks is only about that, the 98% that is voting for Obama is not for issue or for whats best of this country, it’s only about time for a Black President, time to put whites in their place.

Has anyone said anything about how Latinos feel about not being included in the “New Democratic/New Black Panter Party”?

I assume Obama/Marxist feels they will all fall in line and be good little democrats. I am not so sure about that because why would they want to belong to a party that does not need or want them.

McCain is pretty popular in the Latino community.

NO OBAMA/MARXIST
HILLARY OR MCCAIN

Because many many people don’t vote on positions, but on the person’s skills, credibilities, experience, and character, and a person who reflects their values and life experiences. I for one am one of those voters. I support certain issues and positions but I am ok with trying out the other side’s positions. I am not always right and no one else is. Sometimes if we listen to the other side, just maybe, the other side has a point.

Besides, if all we do is vote on issues, why do we need a person? Why don’t we do away with the White House and every 4 years have each party propose a referendum to vote on, like California’s propositions, and send the referendum to Congress for execution? If all that matters are issues that I can pick and choose from the thousands of NGOs and donate money there instead.

McCain and Clinton have a lot in common in that they are both fighters who persevere and do not relent in face of hardships and adversities. McCain shown that during Vietnam and Clinton shown that in this election and many many other times. These two leaders have grits and some of us really admire that. They are both hated by the more extreme fractions of their parties and yet they keep coming back. Their parties have turned their backs on them at one point or another and yet they hold their heads high with pride. Some of us believe that all these good qualities in a POTUS.

As for the Supreme Court, well, many things. One is a lot of women are insulted that the Dem leaders think they can use that to beat us into order. Secondly, the older millions of older women who support Clinton are pass child bearing age, or are at a point of their lives where economics are not an issue for raising a child. The younger women who keep thinking that feminism is something shameful and think it’s so cool to support Obama, well then they can deal with the consequences on their own. If Roe v, Wade is overturned, who knows? Maybe The One can walk on water and save them.

Personally, as a lawyer I was pleased with the appointment of John Roberts. He has a brilliant legal mind and it was an excellent choice, even though he is anti-abortion. I also have always been a huge fan of the early Justice Rehnquist. The new one I didn’t like is Alito. His legal decisions are too swayed by ideologies. If McCain appoints more Roberts, I’m just fine by it. And McCain was one of the gang of 12, was it, that prevented Bill Frist from using the Nuclear Option.

Easy Obama is not anything like Hillary and he will do nothing. I like McCain and have always liked him I like Hillary. I do not now nor have I ever liked the stuck up Obama and to be honest I do not see him as commander and chief. I value the life of my son who is a hero overseas DEFENDING a country that Obama and Michelle disrespect. I also think Obama is an idiot who cannot come up with an idea of his own. Its not about Health care and it isnt supposed to be that is why the Democrats never win because we are picking COMMANDER AND CHIEF thats the main funtion of that job. Obama is not Commander and Chief he is Punk and chief and I prefer someone who is tough enough to handle the problems the next president will face without falling on the floor crying and kicking his feet. So for me the choice is clear either Hillary or McCain noone else

I read Ferraro’s op-ed in the globe this am and am gladdened by what she had to write. I posted elsewhere that Pelosi, whose backers were at the fundraiser where BO made his “clinging” comment, will probably try to set the deal for BO next week. The deal is in the works, the people who applauded his outrageous comments, are the same people who write checks to her campaign for unfettered access to the Speaker. Barrage her in-box with your outrage. Tell her that if she pre-empts the process, you will never give to the DNC, and will not vote for the chosen one.

Like so many others here, I’m a “lifelong Democrat” and honestly, I was blindsided by this whole unsavory episode. To call the Clintons racist was just vile, Chicago style, deep dish politics.

Obama is nothing more than a dirty politician, on the take from anyone with the money. His unsavory associations with terrorists, revolutionaries, and bigots, when added together with his unbelievable motley crew of advisors, and his constant lying, makes him the most unelectable candidate for POTUS I’ve ever seen. He uses race against people like a weapon he brandishes at will.

When Rezko is convicted, I have a feeling he’ll sing like a bird. Barry will be in that song. I only hope it happens before the convention. I hope Hillary has the foresight to reject any thought of a vice-pres spot on the ticket. Let him tank on his own. I will never vote for the scumbag. Never.

I tried emailing that address for AmericanVoices but it didn’t work. Do you have the right address?

If you can’t use the count the vote link, barrage your congressman/woman, senator, state reps etc. Tell them the same thing, do this and you lose the POTUS vote, and tell them you won’t vote for them either. Envision this, if Pelosi goes ahead and plays kingmaker, and BO loses, think of the chances of McCain’s coatails bringing in a slim majority in the house, Nancy loses her cushy role, probably won’t get minority leader as the party will partly blame her. I’ve sent her, Barney Frank, the Senior Senator from Dewars (TK) and The Biggest Loser (Kerry) the same message. The senators are secure in their seats as is Frank, but those with shaky districts can be reasoned with fear of losing (and having to practice law instead of breaking it) or at least losing plum places at the trough

I think Ferraro is incredibly gracious in the way she presents herself and even when she talks about Obama and his minions despite the horrible thing Obama campaign did to her.

Comment by Laura | 2008-05-30 11:48:54

The irony is that while this sick individual has his lackeys accusing his critics of racism, hussein obama himself is very much a racist. Just look at who he befriends.

It’s great to hear that so many people echo my feelings.

I absolutely despise Barack Obama and EVERYTHING he stands for.
He has irresponsibly played the race card and set race relations back to post-Reconstruction. He is connected to people for whom I have no respect. He has no experience other than playing ‘dirty politics.’ He is unqualified and to put a man with his paltry credentials in the WH would be insane.

The DNC and the Party leadership has spit in my face. I thank them for doing that. It makes voting for John McCain so much easier. That they would think that I would support them after doing that shows me the Party is filled with people who are not just monumentally stupid, they also have the egos of King Kong.

How Party members have stood by silently and even relished the denigration of a sitting Senator and former First Lady, as well as that of her husband who is the only 2-term Democrat in 50 years whose administration was one of peace and prosperity, showed me that I am clearly in the wrong Party.

But guess what? They have set a very ugly precedent which will come back to haunt them. If by some disastrous circumstance this biracial clown becomes POTUS, I will sit back and enjoy the treatment he and his Lady Macbeth wife will receive. And what are they going to say after all that they’ve been a party to? They were the ones who taught us all how to bear our fangs and use our claws.

I wonder if the Democratic Party realizes that how they’ve destroyed the bastions of civil behavior and discourse during this Primary Season by legitimizing dirty Chicago-style politics on a National Level. We’ve lost so much during this Primary, and there’s no getting it back now!

Obama will have to:

WIN WITHOUT ME!

Comment by Patti | 2008-05-30 11:58:36

I watched that interview with Michelle Obama, when she made her nasty ass comment. They were laying the foundation of how they planned on winning… I decided then, that I would probably hold my nose and vote for him if I had too…

Now after all the bs his campaign has done, I wont even hold my nose to vote for him.

Also as a catholic, that priest made me want to vomit.

Go Geraldine! I don’t think Obarfbag cares about the blue collar worker one iota. He doesn’t give a shit about anyone but himself. There is nothing he can do at this point to get my vote. Enen a forced apology will not change how I feel about his candidacy, he is a danger to our country.

Senator Hillary Clinton is one amazing lady, she
won every major state that matters in nov.all without 90% of A/A voters,if the SD are foolish enough not to nominate her, Well then VOTE
Senator Mc Cain,he is all about country ,not self,AND i doubt if Obama has the faintist idea what
that means.
Denise
Ireland.

maybe, President Mc Cain will invite Hillary to be
house speaker, if possible ?

The silence of the DNC regarding the vicious campaign against Hillary Clinton is deafening. We won’t vote for Obama; we’ll never forget how the DNC AND the SD’s left her out in the cold. Hillary is one immensely brave, bright, savvy woman, who is absolutely worth my precious vote.
Who can stay in the party after this?

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-05-30 14:43:48

A pundit (I’m starting to use that term very loosely) said on FoxNews today that if Hillary takes her fight to the convention, she’ll risk losing the respect of party elders. Excuse me??? Hasn’t that already happened? At this point, I don’t see that she has anything to lose.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-05-30 18:47:57

A good article on Real Clear Politics suggests that she will suspend the campaign, mainly because she’s convinced (as I am) that he’ll get beat. Then she will not have much blood on her hands, so to speak, and be set for 2012. The same article says that Bill and she probably disagree about the VP. She’s not interested. Bill might be more.

It’s a good article, entitled, “What Hillary Really Wants.”

Essentially, it’s to get firmly established as the popular vote winner going out and then watch him fail.

Of course, she’ll campaign on his behalf.

There are two of us in this household and we will never ever vote for him. Not even if he chooses Hillary as VP (which we do NOT want her to do should the DNC be stupid enough to pass up the most qualified candidate in my 49 years).

Not him, not ever. Not only that, we will give money to and volunteer for McCain. And, not only that, not going to give money to ANY arm of the DNC — not DLCC, not DSCC. Wallets will be closed.

AND, will research and give money to any opponent of Congressional bots who suggested things like “Glenn Close should have stayed in that tub.” Steve Cohen said that little gem on tv, and Nikki Tinker is his Democratic challenger. You fuck with Hillary and you have fucked with me, and unlike her, I’m going to stay angry and work against you.

Call the DNC today and let them know how furious you are-1-877-336-7200. We need to keep calling and putting pressure on them to do what is right-Count All the Votes!!!!!! Also tell them, that Dean, Pelosi and Reid need to shut the heck up. These tactics they are using to pressure the SD’s belong to a third world country, not the United States of America. Hillary 08!!!!!!
