Want Unity? Start By Condemning Hate-Speech

Ya know, I hear all this talk about wanting to bring our party together once our nominee is chosen at the convention in Denver, but when this latest in a long string of incidences of hate-speech crop up, all we get are more of the same half-assed statements (”deeply disappointed”) from camp Obama distancing himself from… (fill in the blank).

Pfleger Video

(Credit goes to NoQuarter for first posting this - it’s all over the net now and the networks are starting to air it as well)

Howard Wolfson spoke to this issue in a statement yesterday, in which he noted that Obama has yet to condemn this guy…

“Divisive and hateful language like that is totally counterproductive in our efforts to bring our party together and have no place at the pulpit or in our politics.  We are disappointed that Senator Obama didn’t specifically reject Father’s Pflegler’s despicable comments about Senator Clinton, and assume he will do so.”

It’s not like this is just a casual acquaintance of Obama’s either.   From Jake Tapper

Father Michael Pfleger, a fiery liberal social activist and a white reverend at an African-American church — St. Sabina’s Catholic Church on the South Side of Chicago (SEE “Saint Sabina Raises the Roof on Obama’s Den of Political Tricks and Corruption [Update]” for the full story) — is a longtime friend and associate of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, having known him since the presidential hopeful was a community activist. In September, the Obama campaign brought Pfleger to Iowa to host one of several interfaith forums for the campaign.

Their relationship spans decades. Pfleger has given money to Obama’s campaigns and Obama as a state legislator directed at least $225,000 towards social programs at St. Sabina’s, according to the Chicago Tribune.

He then goes on to describe how the current pastor of Obama’s church praised Pfleger after he delivered that sexist diatribe from his pulpit

The tape, which just shows this one controversial part of Pfleger’s sermon, then cuts to Moss thanking Pfleger: “We thank God for the message, we thank God for the messenger, we thank God for Father Michael Pfleger,” Moss says.

Tapper then goes on to note that since this video’s seen the light of day outside his church, Sen. Obama’s campaign has scrubbed their web-site of any mention of Pfleger.  Do you think he’s worried this longstanding association with this hate-monger will in any way, shape, or form damage his chances of securing the nomination?  Especially among women voters?

You want unity guys - start by issuing a no-holds-barred condemnation specifically aimed at what this hate-monger said.  Tell the world in no uncertain terms that you will not be associated with these hateful and sexist rants - attacks that are directed against a fine and decent woman and public servant.  Stand up to the haters - tell them that attacks on your colleagues in the US Senate are an attack on you and you condemn them without hesitation or equivocation.

Make it clear that you want nothing to do with the speaker or those who would cheer him on.

One thing seems clear though, Obama’s apparent tolerance for these sexist and hateful attacks on Hillary - or women in general is definitely hurting him among that demographic of the electorate.  You’d think - since he doesn’t seem to care about how a woman is attacked by his friends and associates - that winning us over at the polls would at least cause him to condemn Pfleger’s hate-speech.

White women cold toward Obama

Barack Obama’s favorability ratings among white women has declined significantly in recent months, particularly among Democrats and independents, presenting an immediate obstacle for the likely Democratic nominee as he moves to shore up his party’s base.

According to a new report by The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, half of white women now have a negative perception of Obama.

Forty-nine percent of white women view Obama unfavorably, while only 43 percent hold a favorable opinion. In February, 36 percent of these women viewed Obama unfavorably, while 56 percent had a positive perception of the likely Democratic nominee.

snip

White women as a whole now prefer John McCain over Obama, by 49 percent to 41 percent. Last month, Obama was ahead of McCain among white women, 49 percent to 46 percent.

snip

“There is no question that white women were — especially older women, not young women — Hillary’s Clinton’s base in the primary, and there is going to be some repair work that has to be done,” Democratic analyst Anna Greenberg said.

So he’s clearly got his work cut out for him in winning us over should he prevail in Denver.  His relative silence in the face of the hateful and sexist tone of this campaign doesn’t just affect his popularity with white women.  It seems his strong-arm tactics in Texas may hurt his chances with one of his own supporters.

From the Houston Chronicle

Texas Democratic Party Vice Chairwoman Roy LaVerne Brooks is a superdelegate who endorsed Barack Obama in March.

The longtime party activist from Fort Worth is also running to unseat current state party Chairman Boyd Richie.

Imagine her surprise Tuesday when she received a disturbing phone call from a national Obama operative who is part of a group that parachuted into Texas to work on this weekend’s state party convention.

Roy says the operative, Rudy Shank, told her that unless she drops her candidacy to unseat Richie at the state convention she will not be going to the national convention as a superdelegate.

snip

There are ironies in the request by an Obama operative that Brooks back off the chairman’s race.

One is that she is an African-American. The state Democratic chairman has traditionally been a white male, with an occasional white female slipping in.

snip

All of this begs the question: Why would the national Obama campaign involve itself in a state race?

snip

Thursday night, two nights after Shank made his call to Brooks, Richie announced his endorsement of Obama.

snip

Brooks said she told Shank she would stay in the race.

“I made the comment that I may need to jump over to Hillary’s side because I’m not going to be treated like a dish rag,” she said.

I asked if she was serious.

“I’m very serious if they keep trying to get me out of the race and I learn that Obama is behind it,” she said.

Frankly, I hope she tells them to take a hike and goes with the candidate who doesn’t try to shove women aside in a political contest.

I’ve always said I’ll support whoever the nominee is and that probably still stands.  But I’m pretty pissed at seeing yet another example of hateful speech that gets only a lukewarm response from the guy who wants to lead our party in the general election.

Women are pissed off - it’s time BO either condemned this hate-speech or stopped all this talk of unity.

He needs to condemn this shite whenever and wherever it crops up in our discourse.

Oh and one other thing… his top advisor might want to cut his ties with Plfeger’s church

David Axelrod, Obama’s top advisor, is on the Raising the Roof for St. Sabina Committee.
He is third in line from the top after the Mayor and Pfleger. This is a committee to raise 1.5 million for repairs to the church.

Raising the Roof for St. Sabina Committee (information)

Chairs:
The Honorable
Richard M. Daley
Rev. Michael L. Pfleger
David Axelrod
Carole Brown
Ald. Ed Burke
Peter Bynoe

Obama’s got a lot of work to do if he wants to win over Hillary’s supporters and the sooner he gets serious about getting that work done, the better.

In the meantime, we’re going to fight like hell to make sure she gets the nomination because if he’s in this much trouble with a huge chunk of Democrats (and shows little or no interest in standing up to hate-speech directed at one of us), then what’s that say about his chances with the voters overall if he makes it in to the general election?

He needs us so he’d better start acting like he wants our support.  There’s an old saying in politics - people like to be asked for their vote.

Well Obama’s talking a good game but so far all I’ve seen are empty words.  It’s time for action when it comes to hate-speech like this.  He needs to condemn Pfleger and cut all ties with him.

And he needs to do it now.

The God Vote
Jacques Berlinerblau
Jacques Berlinerblau is program director and associate professor of Jewish Civilization at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He is the author of the new book “Thumpin’ It: The Use and Abuse of the Bible in Today’s Presidential Politics” and “The Secular Bible: Why Nonbelievers Must Take Religion Seriously.” The God Vote is a critical look at the religious rhetoric, activity and theology behind the 2008 presidential campaign.

Obama’s Latest Pastor Disaster

By the time you finish watching this YouTube video (which had about 95,000 showings as of this morning) it will be well on its way to reaching: 1) its one billionth viewing, and, 2) its one millionth close reading by Clinton and McCain staffers.

The action took place last Sunday at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. Yes. That Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago! This time, however, the valedictory is made not by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, but by a white Chicago Catholic priest by the name of Rev. Michael Pfleger.

During his sermon, Father Pfleger mocked Hillary Clinton’s tears before the New Hampshire primary. He opines that she cried because she felt “entitled” because she is white “and there’s a black man stealing my show.” Father Pfleger apologized late Thursday for the remarks, saying his sermon was “inconsistent with Senator Obama’s life and message.”

But by delivering his remarks, Father Pfleger seems to have officially submitted his entry to the What Else Can We At Trinity Do to Further Assure that the United States Does Not Have Its First African-American President Any Time Soon? video competition. And this application has “Finalist” marked all over it.

It achieves this status because Father Pfleger has more than a passing acquaintance with the person who stands on the verge of winning the Democratic Party’s nomination.

His precise relation to Senator Obama is presently being pieced together and rehearsed in articles across the internet (such as this one, and this one). As of now, it seems fair to say that Pfleger (who has suddenly disappeared from the candidate’s website) and Obama have known and liked one another for a long time. The former appears to have financially contributed to previous campaigns and to have worked for the present one prior to the Iowa Caucus.

According to widely circulated reports (although I have not been able to track down the original source in the few hours since this story broke) Obama once referred to Pfleger as a “spiritual adviser” in a 2004 Chicago Sun-Times article.

It’s going to be a long weekend for the Obama people.

We have recently had the opportunity to see John McCain’s Pastor Distancing Techniques on display. Barack Obama, also well versed in Faith Based Disaster Management, has swiftly and unambiguously denounced the remarks. This rapid response might minimize the damage. In his own words:

As I have traveled this country, I’ve been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that that unites us. That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger’s divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which doesn’t reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause.

After watching — slackjawed — Father Michael Pfleger’s remarks about Hillary Clinton and White privilege I have queries. First, what is it about that particular pulpit that brings out the inner Chris Rock in assorted Men of God?

Second, are there any guys on the face of the earth having more fun than the four fellows in robes whooping it up directly behind Father Pfleger? Third, are we going to be told by Obama operatives that the remarks were taken out of context? Fourth, and most importantly, what will be the fallout for the Obama campaign?

In a general election a presidential candidate typically moves to the center. It is now going to be even harder for Obama to do that since America keeps seeing footage of his friends who stand to the left of Fidel Castro.

But that’s not all. The Senator from Illinois has his share of difficulties with White Blue Collar voters. I have observed elsewhere that this group loathes this type of rhetoric (unless it comes from Chris Rock).

There’s more to be concerned about. Obama has demonstrated some weakness with Catholic voters. The fact that he finds himself receiving glowing praise from a priest who has been in a running, public feud with his local Cardinal might aggravate the problem.

Let’s not forget Senator Clinton. She surely will chime in on this controversy later today. It will deflect attention from her own recent gaffes. And it will strengthen her supporters’ conviction that the racial hang-ups of Obama’s inner circle will accrue to John McCain’s greater glory. Too, there is more than a touch of misogyny in the priest’s oratory and (as the Male Space Invader Rick Lazio learned the hard way) many women voters rally to Hillary when they feel a gendered slight.

I don’t doubt that the Senator’s aforementioned words of regret are sincere. I don’t doubt that he truly deplores this type of rhetoric. But how many more radical Left- wing confidantes from the South Side can undecided voters withstand before they start questioning the man’s claims about being a unifier who is above Red States and Blue States, Republican and Democrat, Conservative and Liberal?

St. Sabina Alexrod Fundraiser Link here. Only available on the “old” church website. This is to the actual fundraising link showing Alexrod on the St. Sabina fundraising committee-FIRST NAME IN THE GROUP OF GENERAL COMMITTEE MEMBERS…that is until someone from the Obama campaign has the link blocked…I am not registered to post on taylormarsh so I hope someone will please cross post this link there as well

Note in looking at this page that the fundraiser takes place in January 2008, however if you look at the fundraising letter, pdf file link also on the page link below, Alexrod is NOT listed on the committee, in the “formation” stage…This smacks of a quid pro quo to me…

Oh bullshit. The only thing Obama regrets is that this thing will hurt him with white women.

Comment by Ellen Tenn | 2008-05-30 21:02:00

I’m getting really pissed that Obama has only issued a press release saying he doesn’t agree with Fr Pfleger. He should get on camera and apologize to Hillary and all Americans. He thinks it will all go away if he does not address this issue.
I can’t believe I have another reason to never vote for this man

Comment by s. hall | 2008-05-30 23:36:40

ellen — Obama is an arrogant bastard who doesn’t feel he owes anyone anything–and why should he? He wants the nomination and Pelosi and Reed move heaven and earth to get it for him.

McCain made a nice statement today. He is a class act and he doesn’t like Obama, which stems from Obama not knowing the Senate hierarchy when he first became a Senator. McCain had to put him in his place.

Comment by no waffles | 2008-05-31 00:19:02

also Obama double crossed him on some legislation initiative too, and was confronted by McCain.

Comment by no waffles | 2008-05-30 21:03:42

Totally agree…but know that Obama will try to stay above it all–as if he had nothing to do with it. Makes me wonder if HRC should take a VP slot or not, what do you think? BTW, 4justice from the now “second” orange site, getting ready to leave and blog here.

I think we also need to thank whomever snuck a video cam into this hate sermon and taped it, and then exposed it to the appropriate people!

kudos to them!

Comment by RedDragon62 | 2008-05-30 21:04:48

Thanks for the article Alegre, but I don’t care if Obama came begging on his boney knees…..I will NEVER give him my vote!

Comment by prudence | 2008-05-30 22:08:49

I don’t post here often so I didn’t want to say anything… I wouldn’t vote for Obama anyway, but it makes me uncomfortable when women point out the campaign strategy, Obama’s associates and Obama’s own words and then say they’ll vote for him. Like I said, I wouldn’t vote for him, but I don’t understand that attitude. How much does it take before you take a stand?

Comment by so saddened | 2008-05-30 23:16:38

prudence, completely agree. i understand we all have our own views, but my view is that if we allow for even the possibility of obama somehow winning us over, by saying something or doing something (leaving that church, saying nice things, picking hillary for vp, whatever), we’re basically saying it’s ok to screw us royally, demean and debase us, use and abuse us, because we can be “won back” anyway.

he can never win me back. if he were to go on tv tomorrow and say he had been a horrible, nasty, lying, despicable person all his life and everything he and his campaign said about hillary was a lie and he’s sorry and he will never do it again and he’s immediately withdrawing from the race and resigning from the senate and he wants axelrod, dean, brazile, kerry, pelosi, mccaskill, et al, to immediately lose/resign their jobs/seats and never run for office or work in politics or news again and hillary should immediately be nominated and supported by every last one of his supporters - i’d say, that’s enough to get my forgiveness, but if he ever ran for dogcatcher it wouldn’t be enough to get my vote.

if we don’t set limits and stick by them, we’ll just continue to be taken for granted, used, and abused. imho, voting for obama, under any circumstances, is nothing but granting license to do it to us again and again.

i will never vote for obama. period.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-05-30 23:41:39

so saddened — Obama could never win me over either. After he made the Clintons out to be racists I was done with him. There are certain things you don’t do even if its a shortcut to the nomination. But Obama has no boundaries. He wants what he wants when he wants it and everyone else be damned. Therefore, he has no principles and I will never vote for a man like that.

Comment by Arius | 2008-05-30 21:06:24

I have to mention.. I barely can listen to the media anymore, i take them in spurts.. I heard one of them say today (and the others all agreed) that this guy was a guest of the church and not Obama’s pastor.. but didn’t we see at the end of the video (or at least on the tv version I saw it) where the regular pastor did comment when this guy was done, that he couldn’t have said it better (or something similar)..

They are selling the white-man-hate theme, pure and simple.

Comment by yttik | 2008-05-30 21:07:42

McCain has denouced Obama’s pastor’s words:

“I have known Senator Clinton for long time. I have always treated her with respect,” McCain said during a press conference Friday. “I respect her and I think that kind of language and that kind of treatment of Senator Clinton is unwarranted, uncalled for and disgraceful.”

So McCain has now shown more integrity then Obama. Pretty slick, McCain is basically saying he’ll be happy to woo all those voters Obama claims he doesn’t need.

Comment by blackmannot4obama | 2008-05-30 23:00:17

Sad isn’t it! I have no intention of voting for Obama. I like McKinney who is a black female and a former democrat of the green party. But, right now I am leaning towards voting for McCain he is demonstrating what it takes to earn my vote and run the country. Where the hell is the outrage from Obama. But let this white pastor mention that Obama is just a politician and he will be outraged at the pastor “doubling down” Hypocrisy at its finest!

Comment by s. hall | 2008-05-30 23:45:45

yttik — I am happy to be wooed by McCain. He is having problems with the right wing and maybe if a few million of us Hillary supporters line up for him –he will be more comfortable as a moderate.

I’m not pissed Ellen. It wouldnt surprise me if THEY had something to do with the video getting out on YouTube. Thats their MO. Say something negative, hateful or Racist. Some footstool takes the heat for it. There’s a quasi apology, And then Obama comes out and says he does not agree with what was said. But it is too late by then. The damage is done…..THIS IS Chicago Politics!

Why in creation are so many saying obama should come out and apologize? He wasn’t late for a date or something. He has participated with these people, they are his base, he called this pseudo priest his ‘moral compass’.

Do people still not get it??? obama can’t take back what he is, what he believes and he cannot alienate those leaders of groups whom represent his true, divisive unAmerican base. It’s like asking him not to be who he is. If he were to say differently, it would just be another lie.

So just get it - finally - get who he is. As they say, a snake is a snake.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-05-30 23:56:50

JM — We are Americans are naive. We have had our Democracy a long time and can’t believe that perhaps a coup has been staged against us. I am waiting to see if the media turns on him once he is officially the nominee. If not, we are screwed.

However, its not just us who are naive — the media continues to say they don’t hold it against Obama if his pals say hateful things about this country. How many friends does he have to have who are anti-semitic, anti-white and anti-american before they put it all together?

Why are Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi pulling out all the stops including Democracy to rush him into the nomination? I have never seen this happen before. What is wrong with going to the convention and letting them decide. Who gave this this amateur $250 Mill?

Comment by rwc | 2008-05-31 00:17:01

Who gave him the $250 million is a good question.

I don’t see college kids or yuppies forking over that kind of dough. That leaves big business and foreign interests who use cut-outs to fund Barky.

I don’t want any of them to apologize.. them acting as they do in every day life tells us WHOM THEY REALLY ARE.

An apology won’t undo that. I wouldn’t forgive them or Obama for this obvious true feelings they have and this behavior.. who would? who would except the apology of these types and let it slide and move on, treat it as forgotten?

i can’t imagine!

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-05-30 23:05:56

Ditto for me. I loved the quiet minister on Fox who kept getting shouted down who said, “They can’t apologize, because that’s who they are.”

I do not believe in this public apology crap. Amends are made when you change behavior. The best apologies are those unspoken. It’s when you stop offensive behavior.

He will do it everyday until it is. If they would only let this nomination process continue Obama would do himself in.

This story might have to do with the earmarks. Obama gave Federal Funds to Pfleger and his Church. I do wish it was Michelle. Thats the one I’m waiting for. I want to see Obama say I don’t know Michelle really well.

Alegre…he’s not going to “get to work.” He has one goal, and that is to destroy her.

He won’t reach that goal. She has what he most wants: True Passion. She’s 60 years old and smiling. She BELIEVES. She doesn’t need to destroy the other person. She just hangs tough, conducts her behavior in accordance with true principles, and knows it will all sort out.

She was right. He peaked early. He’s sliding further in the polls. There’s no bounce from his daily pronouncements that he’s aleady won.

Meanwhile, busloads of her supporters are in Washington DC, making it clear that they will vote for McCain. LOL* It’s your worst nightmare!

He didn’t bother to apologize for his spiritual advisor’s words to her because he absolutely agrees and doesn’t care who knows it.

He doesn’t believe that he could fail here.

He’s wrong. He has miscalculated badly.

Allegre, considering that you were banned from one of Obama’s foremost propaganda machines for posting pro Hillary diaries, it would seem that you should recognise that Obama will not make any effort to gain your support. Obama truly feels that the >50% of us who support Hillary are not worth bothering with. His supporters, in fact openly despise us and he encourages that behavior. Obama does nothing to unite the party now, anything he does in some distant future must be viewed with skepticism.

And the Democratic Party and DNC has stood by and condoned this treatment by one of its candidate’s campaign’s toward another. By one segment of the party against another. Shame on them. I am no longer tied to this party which no longer represents what I have supported all my life.

I have been a Democrat for 35 years, I’ve voted for every Deomcratic candidate in every national, state and local election since 1976. I will not vote for Obama. He treates me with derision now, he will not work for my ideals later. I will probably vote for down ticket Democrats (like Mark Udall), but I will never feel obligated to a political party that treats a candidate the way the Democratic Party has treated Hillary Clinton again.

The Superdelegates are getting pretty tired of me and my letters, but here was letter sent to all of them today.

Dear Superdelegate:

The democratic leaders’ voices are suspiciously silent after the Father Pfleger hate comments against Hillary Clinton. No official DNC member has come forth to my knowledge to openly condemn these comments, nor, really has Barack Obama. Oh, yes he said he was “disappointed”. But, if you notice the statement he made was all about him. No where did he ever say, these words are false about Hillary Clinton.

Women are watching, and this latest denigration of Hillary Clinton, has only fanned the flames of distrust with the Democratic Party by those who support her. We are not watching Father Pfleger, we are watching the reaction to the Pfleger comments, or should I say the lack of reaction to the comments. And by the way, none of this is coming from the Hillary Clinton Campaign. This is my own personal view, but a view also shared by many others.

Who spoke up loud and forceful for Hillary Clinton on the stump, our adversary, John McCain, as our own party kept relatively silent. This is a shameful contrast to make with the Republican Party. It is this insidious destructive overwhelming silence that is causing some to bolt from this Party and away from Obama.

I will not be a party to the denigration of a woman, just like I would never be a party to the denigration of an African American or Latino, but it seems the Democratic Party does not share this view when it comes to denigration of Hillary Clinton. I view the silence and half hearted self serving condemnation as complicity by omission.

No truer words have ever been spoken in a campaign then the words so familiar to the Hillary Clinton campaign, and those words are “you are invisible, but not to me”. These words actually have meaning to many?

You are so right LoveChild…..
This man thinks that WE will forget all that was said and done. He is treating this as a Chicago Campaign where all is well after the heads roll…Well The whole country does not think like we do here in Chi-Town. This will not go away no matter what he says or does….he can quit. That would heal this wound. :-)

I am sitting here reading and thinking about all this and wondering if I have tumbled into Alice In Wonderland—is the Trinity Church trying to sink Obama’s presidential bid just when he appears to be on the verge of forcing his tortured form of victory? Do they not see after the Rev. Wright mess, that this diatribe from Pfleger in their church is a huge hurt. The more I think of that the more I think, DAMN these people do know that. They are angry and getting even over Wright (because anger and getting even is what they do). They have thrown Obama a live torpedo and dared him to condemn them; dared him to condemn Pfleger and their church. If you listen to the full context of the remarks by P and the remarks of the current Trinity pastor, there is a definite calling out of Wright’s rightness. Could they be deliberately trying to sabotage Obama? Or at least letting him know that they have some righteous power? Was this a warning shot that he damn well better never think about putting Clinton on his ticket?

The pattern of Obama is really writing itself indelibly on the public wall. He does not act. He sits and waits. He avoids. He calls present. He uses people, places and events for his own ambition. He is a prisoner of his own ambitious pandering—he used the TUCC for political gain; now it is reminding him not to step out of line. He used Ayres and Rezko, when will they remind him how much he owes. I don’t think any of them will settle for tea at the WH.

jangles — remember when the Republicans wanted to impeach Clinton — where were the Democrats — why didn’t they stand up for him? And why didn’t they stand up for her when Obama made those racist and sexist comments? Why hasn’t any top Democrat stood up for this wonderful woman? Obama has been given more chances than I have had hot dinners. I am sick of a party that talks about women’s right and then sabotages women in favor of an arrogant amateur with nothing to offer this country but division and violence.

What pisses me off the most, since this latest controversy over yet another close associate of Obama, is the assumption that if Obama just publicly denounces and rejects this hate speech, then everything will be ok and women will let him have a pass AGAIN.

He had his chance to do the right thing from the beginning of this campaign. He had numerous chances and he blew them all. I recognized immediately his inexplicable silence in the face of a growing and nasty sexism that raised its ugly head towards Hillary when the primary season began. It is precisely because of his silence that his supporters, surrogates, politicians, pundits, journalist and, of course, the MSM, began their egregious attacks against one of the best public servants we’ve ever had in this country. Yet, he felt no compunction in stepping aside while others set out to destroy Hillary in order to make way for him to achieve his lust for power, “by any means necessary.” It was stunning to witness the unleasing of such naked agression of just about every male pundit, politician, blogger, etc., against this extraordinary woman.

I’m way passed him trying to make amends with this guy or all of those men (and women) who enabled this behavior and I don’t give a shit if he denounces and rejects this behavior, now that it’s political expedient. Obama, as far as I’m concerned, you can just kiss my azz because I will never let you off the hook for some of the dirtiest political tricks I’ve ever witnessed in an election season.

I’ve never been so hurt, disappointed, saddened and angry, all at the same time that there was so little outrage by anyone of high profile against this treatment. It was as if it was “acceptable”.

I don’t feel a part of this country any longer, I feel used and abused by it.

I know this. I cannot and will not support any man who exploits misogynism to advance himself and at the expense of women in any level of society. I will never forget what they have done to Hillary and I will always view it as unforgivable.

I know, it was such a relief to hear Senator McCain stand up for Hillary today. Her democratic collegues in the Senate are a disgrace. Obama’s behavior baffles me, I wonder how he thinks he can win the GE after all he has done. Then I think he must have some plan that he thinks is foolproof and really doesn’t depend on voters - I can’t think of any other explanation.

But then I was relieved read a comment RedDragon62 which has the first hint of another explanation of Obama’s campaign behavior:

This man thinks that WE will forget all that was said and done. He is treating this as a Chicago Campaign where all is well after the heads roll

The Senate Democrats are criminal scum and need spend time in Gitmo being waterboarded.

Not to mention being a bunch of sexist pigs who spend most of their time cornering interns for their pleasure.

Not only are they silent on the insults hurled at Hillary by Barky’s minister they are trying to foist on the American people a racist, hatemongering crook who is owned by foreign interests onto us.

Its treason in my book.

That is our reality today.

Being ignored is the worst insult.

He is, truly, cutting us off at our knees.

Obama’s methods have stiffened my resolve like no Republican could ever hope to do.

LOL*

He’s stupid. He wins the battle. He will lose the war.

But I guess he’ll be happy, having denied us her cnadidacy.

Amazing that someone’s goal in life would be so petty.

I wrote to the super delegates. Pelosi answered back and said she was “sick of the threats.”

All I said was I was not voting
for Obama and asked her to
please consider Hillary. I
also said if Hillary was not
the nominee I would be re-
registering as an ndependent.

Does that sound threatening?

She also said to stop hating.

I never mentioned hate or
disliking Obama. I said I
thought the experience and
judgment were not there for a
president of the United States.

Her final words were “stop the spam.”

I really don’t think she is taking any of this seriously. She doesn’t seem to care that the dems could lose the election.

I think guys like Obama, just like those on MSNBC, are so sexist and misogynist that they don’t even recognize it when they see it or do it themselves - hence the apology of IF it offended anyone, or comments like “what’s the big deal” or “what sexism?”. You mean constantly calling Hillary a bitch and ridiculing her looks, pantsuits, or laugh is sexist? Just because we don’t do it to Obama because that would be called racist, you mean that makes it sexist? Silly women, no, it’s just a joke just like how we marginalize you in professional roles by calling you “sweetie” or offering a kiss to get your vote. You like that, don’t ya? You silly, stupid women with your Hillary candidate, don’t ya know you’re gonna destroy the party? You don’t want that do you? Think of Roe v. Wade even though the majority, if not almost all of you don’t plan on or will likely ever even have an abortion. Think about that or the fact that the court is already conservative. Desperate, pathetic, stupid women - listen to Obama’s pretty words, ignore the similarities to charlatan’s you’ve had in your lives, and admire the tall man - operative word being “man” as no woman can possibly command respect, much less demand it right? Look at the silly women clapping and cheering to Father Phlegm or the ones arguing that sliding a credit card through a woman’s behind in rap videos isn’t sexist or demeaning to women, right? Just as neither is rape or molestation - after all, she was asking for it. Right? Wright? Right.

I’ve given this alot of thought over the past few hours and like you I am convinced that these folks at Trinity “KNEW” this would get out! No-one is that stupid to allow this to be taped, then disseminated the way it was. Who was the one who put it on YouTube?
I believe this was a plant.
1.) To gain some notoriety for The Priest. He’s always been a Media whore here in Chicago.
2.) Maybe this was their way of telling Obama that THEY control the agenda not he. Who knows.
Whatever it was, I find it suspicious that it was “Leaked” this way..Also…
All of a sudden, Lynn Sweet Of the Chicago SunTimes is claiming a Bombshell tomorrow. Now maybe it may not be but who knows. We will all know what She and the DNC have to say by then wont we?

Great post Alegre. Truthteller and Larry have indeed done some great work here at NQ unmasking yet another Obama’ spiritual advisor : Pfleger.

I thought Wolfson made a very effective comment today also about Pfleger during the media call and the complete lack of respect by Obama in not especifically addressing the outrageous racist remark about HRC and say : Hillary Clinton is not a white supremasist and I am outrage at the suggestion. Coward…. It is disgusting.

How hard is it for the DNC and Obama to speak out and reject this treatment of Hillary Clinton?

That really has burned me this election : neither the DNC nor Obama have once stood up firmly and say this is wrong. Say that
insults like those directed to Sen. Clinton have no room in this democratic process. They never, ever, not once call out the media (Keith O. and the likes) , Wright or Pfleger about the specific insults they continuosly throw to Hillary
(and Bill) Clinton. Not once I heard Dean, Pelosi, or Obama express explicit outrage at what was being said to Hillary Clinton and many times directly or indirectly to millions of other people : women, jews, italians, etc etc etc….

It is unbelievable … Dean, Pelosi, Brazile and the Obama’s campaign have destroyed the Democratic Party.

The reason for Super Delegates is to stop a flash in the pan from becoming the nominee. If ever I saw a flash in the pan its Obama — So now we have to have the Democratic Leaders in Congress forcing the Super Delegates to vote for him. What the hell is going on here and why isn’t anyone in the media saying this is unprecedented?

my husband questions the “timing and motive” of this pastor excrement……he thinks wright is behind it. i wonder ? any thoughts ? you all know how wright seemed irrated with obama on his 3 day rant last month. what better way, right before the dnc decision, to come out and scream whitey propaganda…..and where is the good pastor wright these days. i say lurking around in a cave somewhere, but still very much of a player.

oh I don’t think so at all.. I see enormous arrogance in the campaign and it’s followers and tons of hate and distortion in this church.

I think someone NOT an Obama fan made sure the usual rituals that go on in there, get exposed to the public.

pure and simple.

just had a nice Friday cocktail with a very famous democratic commentator, a netroot hero, an extremely close friend of Al Gore’s - and a guy who in his primary, I know chose to vote for Hillary, but at the time had nothing but praise for Obama.

Because of his role in our dialog - he is also publicly uncommitted. He has defended Obama along with Clinton throughout this campaign and is savage in his attacks on McCain and the GOP.

But after seeing the Reverend Father’s tape yesterday - he now says he doesnt think that he can vote for Obama. Knowing him, believe you me, this is shocking.

This is a seriously brilliant man. Al Gore once told me that he thinks he is the smartest man he’s ever known (and think of the smart guys Al has met!) But he thinks that the priest’s rant says more about Obama’s circle than Wright does…that it opens us to having to ask serious questions about Obama’s Chicago base and his JUDGMENT! (And the way ALL of the Chicago Daley machine enables Farrakhan)

He actually said - in a jest - that was meant to be serious too - that maybe the Right is correct calling Obama “the Manchurian Candidate”.

My Goodness!

Comment by Arius | 2008-05-30 22:06:51

good god, thanks for that info! I won’t ask of whom you speak although I’m sure we’re all pretty damned curious! lol

tell him to come here and post anonymously and give his input on topics at hand!!

god i wanna know i wanna know i wanna know!

but wow, seriously, if he’s one of (those) who feel 1st and foremost they must defend the party and take down McC, then he said that about Obama.. wow, i just mean wow!

(and good for him I might add)

now, what was your cocktail?

Comment by Seymour Glass | 2008-05-30 22:48:22

How interesting!

And I agree with the smartest guy Al Gore knows….lol….Obama’s circle does reveal a lot about him and none of it’s pretty.

On a personal note…it must be fun to pick his brain on any topic, nevermind hearing such a change on his thoughts with Obama.

Comment by Seymour Glass | 2008-05-30 22:57:15

I’ll tell ya this - he always has laughed sardonically on the 3 or 4 times that Ive asked if its true when Obamacrats have said Al was gonna come out and endorse Obama…

He’s always said there was zero chance of that….but aint it strange how they have always pretended Al was one of them?

Personally, I found it unlikely that Gore would support the candidate of Russert, Matthews, Frank Rich and Mo Dowd…after what that pack of hyenas had done to him….

and have they treated Hillary exactly the same as they treated him?

Comment by s. hall | 2008-05-31 00:32:59

Comment by PYW | 2008-05-30 21:52:54

No, Darren, he made some boilerplate remark about being “disappointed” in Pfleger’s appalling remarks - Hillary wasn’t even mentioned. What McCain said in defense of Hillary is what Obama should’ve said. Obama clearly doesn’t think he has to work to win back the support of women upset at how Hillary is being treated. Very big mistake.

BTW, no amount of “community service” done by Pfleger justifies anything he said. What a lame excuse. Keep in mind, what Wright and Pfleger said weren’t taken out of context. Their sentiments were clear and unequivocal.

How could his faith group still keep him who teaches in not love?

See how that group of people agrees with this speaker.

How could we trust the candidate who associates many people like that?

May God help American to have Hillary to be our 44 President!!!

There is no way I could ever support Obama. He does not deserve my vote. His disrespect (Sweetie) and hatred for women is evident. He can never apologize enough to ever get my vote. He is who he is. Can’t you just see the arrogance if this man becomes the leader of the free world.

Sitting in a church with a hate filled pastor for 20 years and friends for more than 20 years with another hate filled diabolical religious leader. Then being friends with a known terrorist who tramples on the American Flag.

He is corrupt to the core with all his earmarks for his friends with tax-payer dollars and his dirty deals with Rezko and Co.. How can anyone in good conscience help put this man in our White House? The hell with unity. McCain is looking better all the time. If not Hillary then McCain it is.
