About: Larry C. Johnson is a former analyst at the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, who moved subsequently in 1989 to the U.S. Department of State, where he served four years as the deputy director for transportation security, antiterrorism assistance training, and special operations in the State Department's Office of Counterterrorism. He left government service in October 1993 and set up a consulting business. He currently is the co-owner and CEO of BERG Associates, LLC (Business Exposure Reduction Group) and is an expert in the fields of terrorism, aviation security, and crisis and risk management, and money laundering investigations. Johnson is the founder and main author of No Quarter, a weblog that addresses issues of terrorism and intelligence and politics. NoQuarterUSA was nominated as Best Political Blog of 2008.[1] He has worked as a private consultant on issues of international terrorism and security for the U.S. Government and private companies. Johnson has appeared as a consultant and commentator in many major newspapers and news programs.[2]

[edit]Background
Larry Johnson moved to Washington, D.C. in 1979 to begin work on a Ph.D. at the American University. Although he completed successfully all coursework and comprehensive exams, he did not write a dissertation. In 1978 and in 1983-85 he worked in Latin America on community development projects as a community organizer. Returning to the United States in 1985 he joined the Central Intelligence Agency, thanks in part to a letter of recommendation from Republican Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) that helped to "open doors" for him at the Agency.[3] Johnson entered on duty at the CIA in September 1985 and was a classmate of Valerie Plame. Every member of that class was undercover. After a year in the Career Trainee program, which included a stint with the Afghan Task Force, Johnson was assigned as an analyst in the Middle America Caribbean Division in the Latin American Affairs Office of the Directorate of Intelligence. He received two Exceptional Performance awards and was promoted ultimately to Senior Regional Analyst for Central America.
Johnson remained undercover in the CIA until October 1989, when he resigned from the CIA and started a new job in the Office of Counter Terrorism at the Department of State. Johnson played an instrumental role in launching the Terrorism Rewards program international advertising campaign (working with Diplomatic Security officers Brad Smith and Michael Parks). [4] Johnson also was involved in a variety of crisis management response operations, including the release of hostages from Lebanon and liaison with the Pan Am 103 families. He left government service in October 1993 and started his own business as a consultant.
After leaving government service, Johnson became a frequent guest on many major television news shows when a question of terrorism came up. He was first interviewed by CNN following the capture of Carlos the Jackal. Johnson subsequently appeared on CNN, ABC's Nightline, CBS, the BBC, MSNBC, the Jim Lehrer News Hour, NBC, and NPR. In December of 1999, for example, Johnson was hired by NBC to serve as its terrorist expert for the Y2000 and was in Time Square with Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric ("a lot of fun and the best way to see in the New Year"). Johnson also was hired in January 2002 as a Fox News Analyst and remained under contract until February 2003.
Since 1994 a significant focus of Johnson's consulting work has been with the U.S. military special operations forces in scripting and conducting military counter terrorism exercises. He traveled under orders from the U.S. military to Iraq in May 2006 to work on a short term project.
A registered Republican who supported President Bush in 2000, Johnson became a strong critic of the Bush administration in May 2003 for its conduct of the war in Iraq and, a few months later, for its role in the outing of CIA operative Valerie Plame.[5] He was also featured in the 2004 political documentary Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism. Since Robert Novak's controversial disclosure of Valerie Plame as a CIA operative in July 2003, Johnson has contributed to public discourse on intelligence matters, often sparking further controversy. He has been interviewed by both the mass media and the alternative media and published commentaries on a variety of issues, including the Plame affair, the controversy concerning Mary McCarthy, and the resignation of Porter Goss as Director of Central Intelligence.

[edit]1996
In 1996, Johnson noted that terrorism worldwide was on the decline. "Terrorist incidents [both internationally and in the US] have fallen to levels not seen since the 1970s. Whether measured by the number of incidents, the number of fatalities, or the number of groups, raw statistics demonstrate that the level of terrorist violence has declined since the mid-1980s. In fact, the evidence suggests terrorism was more widespread and deadly 10 years ago."[6]
He also wrote an op-ed piece for the New York Times suggesting that the newer and more deadly terrorist threat to the U.S. was embodied by "networks of terrorists, mostly foreign, working within its borders." Exemplifying this threat was Ramzi Yousef, one of the masterminds behind the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center. In the article, Johnson suggests that enhanced cooperation between intelligence agencies, particularly the FBI and CIA, is mandatory to meet the growing threat of terror networks.[7]
[edit]1998
In 1998, Johnson argued that while overall terrorism was declining, the threat from bin Laden and al-Qaeda should be the focus of American counterterrorism policy:
The nature of the threat posed by Bin Ladin is highlighted by my final chart, number 7. Osama Bin Ladin and individuals associated with him have killed and wounded more Americans than any other group. This chart also illustrates that groups such as Hamas and the Tamil Tigers (LTTE) prior to 1998 have killed more foreigners in the anti-US terrorist attacks. If we take into account the bombings of the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, Osama's status as the most lethal terrorist is certain.[8]
In addition, he told USA Today that bin Laden had participated in "virtually every major attack of terrorism against the United States" in the 1990s. Johnson underlined the threat posed by bin Laden, saying that he was possessed by "hatred and craziness." If left unanswered, "he would continue to terrorize Americans around the world. He has no compunction about killing women and children. He's a complete egalitarian in his murderous attitude."[9]
[edit]1999
In an interview with PBS's Frontline for its 1999 program, Hunting bin Laden, Johnson discussed Osama bin Laden.[10] According to Johnson, Americans had "tended to make Osama bin Laden sort of a superman in Muslim garb." "Actually," he continues, "Osama bin Laden, in my view, represents more of a symptom of a problem, and the problem is this: the Saudi Arabian government, not just Osama bin Laden but many people in Saudi Arabia, have been sending money to radical Islamic groups for years." Johnson continued:
When you look at who's killed Americans in the last 10 years, the individuals he's supported and backed--I'm basing that upon the initial information that's been released in the indictments and conversations with others in the intelligence communities--Osama bin Laden has been the one killing Americans. No other terrorist group in the world has been out killing Americans except for Osama bin Laden.... Osama bin Laden remains out there as the one really targeting us. So, we recognize that he's the threat. He's serious about wanting to kill Americans, but as long as he's in Afghanistan, as long as he doesn't have access to a cell phone, as long as he can't just hop on a plane and travel wherever he wants without fear of being arrested, his ability to plan and conduct terrorist operations is extremely limited. We have to recognize [that] he would like to do a lot of damage. He would like to kill Americans, but wanting to is different from being able to, having the full capabilities in place.[11]
In the interview, Johnson doubted the ability of members of bin Laden's organization to plan and put their lives on the line:
There's not another Ali or Mustafa out there at this point and Osama bin Laden in my view has not been a very effective organizer or leader. He talks a great game and puts out terrific threats as far as stirring the passions in the United States and maybe firing up the imaginations of some young Muslims throughout the world. But when push comes to shove, can he get a group of people who are together who will say: we are going to plan an operation, we're going to put our lives on the line, we're going to go out and try and kill people and we don't care what the consequence is? It hasn't happened.[12]
Frontline asked:
[Is it] ... fair to say what you're saying is that the president of the United States, his national security advisor, his deputy national security advisor for counter-terrorism, are basically blowing smoke [about the danger posed by bin Laden] and his followers]?
Johnson responded:
They're grossly exaggerating the problem. They are hyping it. They shouldn't be talking about rising terrorism. Instead of saying "terrorism's rising," it's not. "Terrorism is spreading," it's not. "More people are dying from terrorism," not the case. But what they should be saying is, "There's one individual out there that really doesn't like us, and he's made it his mission in life to kill Americans, and we've gotta deal with him." But we need to have a voice of reason in that process instead of putting ourselves out crying wolf, because this is essentially what's taking place right now. They call it the administration that cries wolf.[12]
[edit]2000
Johnson co-authored an article in 2000 with Milt Bearden which focused on the threat posed by al-Qaeda specifically, rather than terrorism trends in general. Beardon and Johnson note that new information emerging about the bombings at Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 points to the threat posed by Imad Mugniyah and Osama Bin Laden will require "a coordinated policy that will employ a full range of covert, clandestine, diplomatic, and military operations," concluding:
The Clinton Administration has shot its bolt on the terrorist problem with small effect, and no last minute show of force will change the record. A new administration can start afresh with a more sharply defined set of terrorism goals – Mughniyeh and bin Laden and their protectors for starters – and bring the full, coordinated force of American diplomatic, military, and intelligence capabilities to bear on the problem.[13]
[edit]2001
After Johnson's testimony to the special forum at the U.S. Senate, Gary J. Schmitt, executive director and CEO of the Project for the New American Century, refers in the Daily Standard (blog) to an op-ed piece Johnson wrote two months prior to the 9/11 attacks, claiming that Johnson argued that the US had little to fear from terrorism.[14]
In an editorial entitled "The Declining Terrorist Threat," published in the New York Times on 10 July 2001, Johnson says:
Judging from news reports and the portrayal of villains in our popular entertainment, Americans are bedeviled by fantasies about terrorism. They seem to believe that terrorism is the greatest threat to the United States and that it is becoming more widespread and lethal. They are likely to think that the United States is the most popular target of terrorists. And they almost certainly have the impression that extremist Islamic groups cause most terrorism.... None of these beliefs are based in fact.... While terrorism is not vanquished, in a world where thousands of nuclear warheads are still aimed across the continents, terrorism is not the biggest security challenge confronting the United States, and it should not be portrayed that way.[15]
Ten days after the 9/11 attacks, after quoting the above passage, Timothy Noah concludes a post in his "Chatterbox" feature at Slate: "Johnson's analysis, we now see, was bold, persuasive, and 100 percent wrong."[16] Johnson defended himself against such attacks:
The rightwing is resurrecting an op-ed I wrote in July 2001. I stand by the full article. It is still relevant today. I am accused, incorrectly, of ignoring the threat of terrorism. In fact, I correctly noted that the real threat emanated from Bin Laden and Islamic extremism. President Bush, for his part, ignored the CIA warning in August 2001 that Al Qaeda was posed to strike inside the United States.[17]
After September 11, Johnson appeared several times on FOX News to address the question of military action against terrorism. On 14 November, he defended the FBI's proposal to interview 5,000 students in the U.S. suspected of having information relevant to the September 11 investigations:
I think they should talk to everyone that they feel they have a need to talk to. I mean, look, this is war. This is not a legal proceeding. This isn't the O.J. Simpson trial. The folks that attacked us -- they murdered Americans. And we've got to recognize that in wartime, we should do things differently.[18]
[edit]2003
In January 2003, Johnson wrote an analysis of the relationship between the upcoming U.S. invasion of Iraq and the threat of transnational terrorism. According to Johnson, Bremer's response was to tell him that "it didn't matter what Saddam did or didn't do, we were going to war."[19] The paper warned that an invasion would "do little to destroy the infrastructure of radical Islamic terrorism responsible for the 9-11 attacks." Noting that Saddam Hussein's regime has been a longtime supporter of regional terrorist organizations such as the PLO, Johnson examines contacts between Saddam Hussein and transnational terrorist organizations such as al-Qaeda:
There is no doubt that Iraq is a state sponsor of terrorism—i.e., a country that provides financial support, safe haven, training, or weapons and explosives to groups or individuals that carry out terrorist attacks. . . . According to Central Intelligence Agency data, there is no credible evidence implicating Iraq in any mass casualty terrorist attacks since 1991. . . .
Johnson notes that the period immediately leading up to 2003 saw a rise of activity surrounding terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, suggesting that "Iraq is willing to help a movement that it would otherwise oppose on ideological grounds. Nonetheless," Johnson concludes, "it is important to understand that Iraqi entreaties to Al Qaeda, are most likely intended as a tactic to bolster Iraq’s ability to fight off a U.S. invasion rather than a deep-seated theological and ideological commitment to the terrorist agenda of Bin Laden.[20]
In that analysis Johnson also warns that the U.S.-led invasion was likely to backfire:
In fact there is a serious risk that a U.S. led war against Iraq may crystallize the diffused anger in the Arab and Muslim world — a heretofore unattained goal of bin Laden and his followers — and persuade more Muslim youths to take up the terrorist banner against America and her citizens.... If we decide to invade Iraq we must be prepared for the contingency that our attack will inspire young Muslims to pursue jihad against the West in general and the United States in particular. Just as the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan rallied many Muslims, especially young adults to the cause of jihad, a U.S. attack may enable Islamic extremists to attract new followers.[20]
Johnson also gave interviews on the topic of what to do with captured al-Qaeda leaders; while he did not condone torture, he suggested that a "sleep deprivation and reward system" might be useful for getting information from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed:
I don't see a constitutional right to have eight hours of sleep. You shouldn't subject someone to freezing but they don't get to wear mink coats, either.[21]
In May 2003, Johnson joined members of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) in condemning the manipulation of intelligence for political purposes:
It is a misuse and abuse of intelligence. The president was being misled. He was ill served by the folks who are supposed to protect him on this. Whether this was witting or unwitting, I don't know, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.[22]
[edit]Plame affair
After Robert Novak wrote a column identifying the wife of former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson as a CIA officer, the media invited Johnson to comment on the ensuing scandal because he had been a member of the same Career Trainee class with Valerie Plame Wilson. For example, in October 2003, he appeared on Democracy Now to discuss the Plame affair. He told interviewer Amy Goodman that Valerie Wilson's cover should have been respected whether she was an "analyst" or a "cleaning lady": "if she's undercover she's undercover, period. If the media allows themselves to get distracted with those kinds of curve balls, they ignore the issue."[23]
He told a Senate Democratic Policy Committee in October 2003, "My classmates and I have been betrayed. Together, we have kept the secrets of each other's identities a secret for 18 years. Each and every one of us have kept that secret, whether we were in the CIA, in other government service or in the private sector. But this issue is not just about a blown cover. It is about the destruction of the very essence, the core of human intelligence collection activities: plausible deniability, apparently, for partisan domestic political reasons."[24]
Johnson testified at a special joint hearing of Congressional and Senate Democrats on 22 July 2005 about the consequences arising from the Plame affair.[25]
[edit]2008
In 2008, Johnson emerged as a staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton and a strong critic of Barack Obama. Larry Johnson's blog, NoQuarterUSA, became a rally point for Clinton supporters wary of Barack Obama's qualifications to be president. Supporters of Barack Obama insist that a story that first appeared on Johnson's blog--a report that Republican operatives have a tape of Michelle Obama making racially insenstive comments about caucasians--has been "refuted" Barack Obama's Fight the Smears website.[26]. However, Johnson never claimed to have the tape and reported that the Republican operatives controlling it intended to release the tape sometime after the Democratic Convention in August 2008. On October 21, however, he asserted that the operative in possession of the tape had been instructed by the McCain campaign not to release it.[27]

It is, to be sure, a little bit cheap (and slightly at odds with the usual parameters of this feature) to criticize someone for making an erroneous prediction, particularly after a tragedy. Chatterbox is especially reluctant to tag Johnson because Johnson's op-ed was argued forcefully, backed up meticulously with factual data, and bravely at odds with conventional wisdom at the time of its publication. Add in that Johnson now makes his living as a consultant to corporations about terrorism, and therefore had everything to gain by exaggerating the dangers terrorism poses, and the guy practically looks like a hero. Chatterbox, who two decades ago was an editor for the New York Times op-ed page, would have published Johnson's piece had he still been an editor there this past July. In his capacity at Slate, Chatterbox might well have written up Johnson's prediction, and perhaps even endorsed it.
But boy, is he glad he didn't! Johnson's analysis, we now see, was bold, persuasive, and 100 percent wrong. Sadly, a mistake this embarrassing cannot be ignored. As a fellow skeptic, Chatterbox in all sincerity wishes Johnson better luck next time.

Our thanks to Martin Longman over at Booman Tribune. He performed a public service last night by disseminating Barack Obama talking points even before I had published my update. Two key points–First, the Obama campaign is admitting the tape exists by ponying up a bogus explanation. Second, they don’t dispute that Michelle is sitting at the table with Louis Farrakhan.
So, here’s what Martin posted:
The Michelle Tape
by BooMan
Sun Jun 1st, 2008 at 11:57:57 PM EST
My old friend, Larry Johnson, knows about manipulating elections from his training with the Central Intelligence Agency. He doesn’t want Obama to win the nomination for whatever reason, and he’s in full propaganda mode to do everything he can to frighten the superdelegates. He claims to have a shocking tape of Michelle Obama ranting in some anti-white diatribe. He promises to produce this tape tomorrow at 9am.From what I understand, it is a tape of Michelle Obama criticizing the Bush administration.
How you’d write it:
Why did Bush cut folks off medicaid?
Why did Bush let New Orleans drown?
Why did Bush do nothing about Jena?
Why did Bush put us in Iraq for no reason? How you’d say it:
Why’d he cut folks off medicaid?
Why’d he let New Orleans drown?
Why’d he do nothing about Jena?
Why’d he put us in Iraq for no reason? How Larry Johnson wants you to hear it:
Whitie cut folks off medicaid?
Whitie let New Orleans drown?
Whitie do nothing about Jena?
Whitie put us in Iraq for no reason?I’m going to be honest with you. Both SusanHu and Larry Johnson have been friends of mine. They have both done a lot for me and I am grateful and indebted to them. Any issues I’ve had with their activities in this election I have kept private. I haven’t visited their site in four months because I found it too personally painful to read what they were writing and I did not want to be tempted to respond. I thought I owed them that. But loyalty can only go so far. If they publish this allegation tomorrow, I will no longer speak with them. And I say that with great sorrow.
This election has ruined a lot of friendships. I have tried hard not to let it ruin mine. But smears of this type are unforgivable. I have been forebearing. Perhaps, in retrospect, I have been too forebearing. That’s all I say. This is too painful to me.
Martin, buddy. It ain’t a smear when it is true. I have made it clear all along that I do not have the tape but have spoken with good friends who know folks who have seen the tape. Martin, I have never, ever claimed to have the tape or stated that I was going to post same. I also have made it clear that the folks surrounding McCain want to keep this quiet until after August. So get your facts right Booman.
But you, Martin, now claim you have a transcript. How do I know? Because you quoted the transcript in detail. Terrific. Bring it out. Let’s put this to bed once and for all. Let’s show the world that Farrakhan and Michelle were exchanging Kool-Aid recipes.
I also find it fascinating that Martin is part of the Obama blog force. Me, I’m not on the Hillary mailing list. Don’t need it. Capable of thinking for myself. Martin, you got played by your boys. Transcript indeed!

Martin Longman is a hack. I am not surprised, however, for he is an Obamabot for sale. He calls himself a progressive, but he is simply a paid pamphleteer for the highest bidder.
He is also out of touch.
But, he’s also so heartbroken and heart sick over this entire thing, now he won’t talk to Larry and Susan ever again
But, he’s also so heartbroken and heart sick over this entire thing, now he won’t talk to Larry and Susan ever again, poor guy
The Booman got the heave ho from my bookmarks a long time ago. Guy is not a serious person as to his blogging. Like Kos, Bowers, Marshall, Jane, Digby, Jeralyn and others he was one of the pioneers of Left Blogistan.
Sadly, he did not turn out to have the skillset needed to do what the very difficult job demands.
Funny how all the guys I mentioned just can not cut it whereas all the women in my list are tough, hard-fighting progressive none of which swallowed the Magic Man’s Poisonous Kool-Aid.
I can’t think of one good women blogger who has.
Funnny….huh?
LOL! Larry, you are the best. Thanks!
right on Larry you made them tip their hand, Bwaaahaaaaaaaaa!!!!
Yup - Larry gave them a gift…address it now and have no problem in October.
Hey, if Michelle didn’t say “whitey” then Obama should be eager to produce their copy of the Farrakhan event to prove it.
Obviously Obama Campaign responses today indicates that she DID appear with Farrakhan (hmmmm, maybe that’s not such a good thing in and of itself??)…so prove to us what she said and this whole thing will go away.
Way to go Larry. Running scared and crapping their pants. they know M. Obama is a hate filled racist.
I want to start my comment by saying i am a supporter of Hillary Clinton. I have been and I will remain one. Also i am African American. I feel strongly that Obama is not ready to be president and that Hillary is better prepared. I think all the evidence is there now to support the claim.. I also rail on all of the misinformation from the obama team. One thing bothers me here though. Can you guys accurately define what a racist is. Also as a black man, i can tell you from firsthand accounts that alot of things rev wright and others speak on are true. I also think its absurd to accuse a black person of being racist against a white person. I think history justifies any animosity couple that with current events. The problematic part is this is coming from several prominent democrats. The people who are suppose to be able to relate to this. Its is definitely different being black in this nation and i think its self serving to actually equate an african american’s reality in the country as racism. I didnt spell check this so dont attack grammar.. I am sure you get the meat of my argument. I dont think race needs to be the reason or the angle you attack Obama, he was never properly exposed for being more of the same. He has never been asked to present his resume documenting sweeping chances he has brought about. You cant get him to come up with creative ideas to solve problems he can just complain about them. Obama supporters I can honestly say that I have no idea how you could support Obama and diss Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton when they were the best thing to happen to America in the last 40 years. I will echo Hillary, can you tell me what was so horrible about the 90s? the peace or the prosperity, you guys should have nostalgia for the clinton years. You forget how the republican attack machine was relentless when it came to the Clintons. Amazing, i guess they will wear kid gloves with handling Obama. I just hate you guys have thrown out all rational logic with your Obama support and the rest of us will suffer from your misstake. It reminds me of the Nader crew in 2000, they insisted they knew what was best when the clear evidence was right before them and look with their bull headed idea cost us. This is too important to just turn over to an amateur.
Like I already said, I trust Larry, and if he is proven incorrect, I will donate $10 to dailykos, if you Obamatons will agree to donate $10 here if Larry is once again proven correct. I notice none of the Obamatons have taken me up on the offer. Obviously they know deep down that it is true!
Yep. I will bet you. Larry’s got nothing. I will up your stakes and bet you $1,000.
POdVet — I trust Larry too. Why is it a stretch that the whole bunch of them Obama, Michelle, Farahkan and Wright hate white people? Obama’s comments about his grandmother being a typical white person and his rant about Small Town white workers in Pa being bitter and clinging to their guns and churches.
so she was saying “whitey” all along?
Do you even read? Pay the fuck attention once in a while.
It was a confusingly written block of text, I’ll admit. I read it three times and from what I can surmise, some guy saw the tape and said she was saying “why’d he../whitey.”, but since we haven’t see the tape or video we can’t know.
I wrote this earlier this morning when I first read the blog you refer to. My position seemed appropriate at the time. I didn’t appreciate his blatant lies.
Well, hell I know nothing about the aforementioned dimwit. But is he making fun of the way that people speak? Do you know anyone who say
“why’d he?” Why’d he do dat? That sound like Princeton, to you?
As in I wus just in de kitchen and I was de listin to da rad-o and it com in on de news and I sad
“why’d he do dat?”
Did we just go zooming backwards in time to
“I don know nuthin bout birthin no babies?”
What race card is this? Is this the Joker?
The Bo and Mo show really needs to come to an end.
Booman tends to mischaracterize almost everything said by anyone who doesn’t adore Obama.
So Booman is part of a group of Obama bloggers that the Obama campaign disseminated the “Why’d he” story to while at the same time telling the MSM that no such panel and commentary from Michelle Obama ever took place? Has Booman admitted to getting the “Why’d he” information from the Obama campaign?
I don’t know this “Booman” but he really does sound like a fool. His post is actually quite amusing.
And good point, Larry, about who is on which campaign’s mailing list. The fact that you are independent makes you even more credible.
Okay, so is this the same BooB/troll who’s been following us around all day, yelling at us? If this is the same Martin, what an @ss! No wonder he seemed so angry, he got taken! LOL! That’s terrific!
Actually I thought you wrote previoulsy that the repubs were holding it till October not August…am I wrong?
Until after the August Democratic Convention. That’s my understanding.
LJ
sounds like the “transcript” was brought to us by the very same geniuses who dubbed in Stephanopoulus and Davis a while back. too, too clever! put those under-used ivy educations to work (”let’s see, what else sounds like whitey, “wide-y”, no too blue collar god forbid, “why thee”, no too shakespearean, wait “why’d” he - bingo”)
and yes, wouldn’t you (if a repub) hold back this tape until the stronger candidate was safely gone, and only the weaker one remained? after August?
oy vey
Ding! Ding! Ding!
We HAVE a winnah!!!
so no one wants the million dollars?
dammit
this needs to happen B4
unlessssssssss
(ok forget I said that)
At this point, your “understanding” of anything more complex than stirring shit with a stick is highly suspect.
Say, do the words “fuck” and “off” have any meaning to you?
Why don’t you put them together and go do that.
Thirdhand, of course. Top sourcing, Larry!
I thought that “transcript” was just a joke.
If not, it’s a very lame coverup attempt.
Problem:
“I do not have the tape but have spoken with good friends who know folks who have seen the tape.”
Hardly conclusive, and I’m on YOUR side.
where there is this much smoke there is fire.
ob said his wife is off limits last week pre-emptively, right after the story started to leak.
there are explanations of the tape and a purported transcript on ob’s site.
He also sent it to his mailing list to some blogs.
He denied such a meeting took place to the msm.
republicans showed it to high rollers and Larry’s sources confirm seeing the tape and said it is stunning.
Fox news is crowing about it and talk radio too.
The obama troll army keep trying desperately to discredit Larry by repeatedly saying he said he had the tape when everybody here that has read what Larry has said KNOWS he has never claimed anything like that anywhere at anytime.
They are attacking here today in enormous numbers and have been snooping around all week.
It is also right to give Larry the benefit of the doubt at a time like this, the man deserves it for his long strong honest investigations.
He is top notch. Don’t let the obamaidiots tell you otherwise.
One of the links in this thread from an above obamatroll takes you to a site with a virus - so be careful out there folks and only open links from people you know to sites you know.
They are mad as hornets but they can’t suppress the truth from coming out from attacking us personally.
They are thugs and liars and are gullible.
We are here laughing at your gullibility, not “running scared.”
Our candidate will win this week. Your candidate…not so much.
“Your” candidate cannot win until the convention. There’s this little thing called “voting.”
Good unity strategy.
Keep on with that, won’t you?
Yeah. That explains why you’re at this website, under a number of sockpuppet names, posting shit repetitively.
Because you aren’t scared, you disrupt a site that plainly doesn’t share your POV.
Bridges for sale, bridges for sale!
JW hypothethically, if this tape does exist what would you think of it?
These Obamabots will do and say anything in order to win an election.
in order to attempt to steal an election?
Hang in there Larry. You will be vindicated. I believe you when you say you have “SPOKEN” to people that have either seen or heard about this tape. What I am witnessing now is the Lemmings jumping to their Master’s call. They KNOW that something is amiss, they just can’t think for themselves. Damn Zombies!
Or…Or…
Larry has jumped into bed with Roger Stone who was peddling this story on Geraldo yesterday.
Roger Stone, you know, the guy with the anti-Hillary organization called Citizens United Not Timid that is known by it’s acronym.
Just sayin’.
Marty is one lousy writer.
nice link there Hillthewinner you damn Obamaton troll. Don’t you realize yet intelligent people are 4 hillary and dont drink the KoolAid, we are also intelligent enough to use firefox so your site failed to open 480 windows. So sorry, you can go back to HuffPo and swear about Hillary in brail now
Protip: At least one of the posters above was not, it appears, “intelligent enough to use firefox.”
love firefox! love their themes too!
Is not this Booman guy a part of the Philadelphia male bloggers mafia? They are all in the tank for Obama. Someone should investigate the money funneled to his blog and to Open Left and Atrios.
Regardless of the words she said, the Obama camp acknowledged that Farrakhan and Michelle Obama were IN FACT together on a panel in Trinity Church.
Try to spin or erase THAT.
Michelle Obama and Farrakhan presided over a discussion together in the God Damn America Church in inner city Chicago? That Michelle Obama does not belong in the White House. Black separatists have no place in our Party, and they certainly do not belong in the White House.
When did the Obama camp acknowledge that?
Does the Booman transcript correspond roughly with what Larry’s sources told him? Has this been discussed?
It sounds like it might. Then again Martin wrote things like written like, said like, and Larry wants you to hear and he wrote specific sentences so perhaps that is what Larry is talking about. I can’t tell for sure.
BooMan is so full of shit. I stopped visiting his site months ago b/c it was so obvious he had sold his soul to the highest bidder. Anything he says isn’t even worth a grain of salt.
booman started off at daily kos. figures!
Reading some of his recent stuff right now. He’s a lot more full of shit these days than I had suspected.
I have set up a popcorn concession stand in the blog corner. I have plenty of popcorn and butter to spare as we watch the trolls go totally bonkers now.
Way to go Larry you are an American hero!
I wonder if the Obama trolls get overtime as they have been working hard today. I see them everywhere I go of course I always do, but there are a lot more out today.
No, they work in shifts. Call centers in both hemispheres allow 24/7 coverage. The sun never sets on the Obamadroid empire.
Full fledged troll invasion today! Never seen this many trolls here.
It’s the final putsch before South Dakota and Montana. They are terrified that anything but huge Obama wins in these two Western state primaries will completely discredit all those Western state caucuses.
Aren’t you the same idiot that wrote “Your poop is our fertilizer.” in a previous thread?
Do you even realize how hilariously stupid you are?
Consider yourself fertilized for the evening, jerky. Hope it tastes good with that popcorn.
American zero
This is hysterical!
This election has ruined a lot of friendships. I have tried hard not to let it ruin mine. But smears of this type are unforgivable. I have been forebearing. Perhaps, in retrospect, I have been too forebearing. That’s all I say. This is too painful to me.
What the hell is he talking about? I’m sorry, Larry, but you were friends with this guy?
Is FOREBEARING even a word?
It seems to me that an Ivy League educated person should be able to speak in a way that differentiates between the words “Why did he” and “Whitey”. By the way BooMan, I only went to Community College, but I’m pretty sure it is spelled “Whitey” dipshit. Sweet Jesus, oh, I’m sorry, if I want to take the Lord’s name in vain, then I should do it right I reckon. “Sweet Barack” is more appropriate I guess.
Oh oh, Obambi is starting to speak, someone grab BooHoo a fainting couch and a new pair of pretty pink panties that he can soak and then throw them at his Tin God.
Fuck this Party, at least on the Presidential level, my downticket is going all Dem though, we’ll need a majority to spar with our next President, John McCain. McCain’s not getting my vote, but I will NEVER vote for Barack Obama, I don’t give a fuck what tools like Ava-trocious and Kos say. Fuck them with a white-hot stalagmite right up their urethra in the Hell of their own making.
Thanks for all your work Larry!
Jackson
Great job Larry. Hillary knows you have her back, and she is in this to the convention. So fight on. This is going downhill fast for the Unity Pony.
mccain was complimenting hillary today. me thinks he is hunting voters decamping from the dem party.
I guess this is how Barky intends to “UNITE” us. That was a nice try with the Virus you piece of cowardly shit!
Do we really wan’ sumun en da whi howse dhat cain’t speak englesh?
Either it is whitey or a Princeton degree isn’t worth the paper its printed on. The explanation is more lame than the comments.
I am confused about the given reason for the comments when we haven’t heard the comments yet?
Larry, I’ve said it before, but can’t say it enough: You Are Our Hero!
Thank you!
Where’s your proof that the Obama camp acknowledged any of this?
There is none. This is all a big farce with an all-too-willing audience ready to believe anything.
“This election has ruined a lot of friendships. I have tried hard not to let it ruin mine. But smears of this type are unforgivable. I have been forebearing. Perhaps, in retrospect, I have been too forebearing. That’s all I say. This is too painful to me.”
Narcissistic much? Oh right. It’s all about him. Him and his magnificent… forebearing. I’m verklempt here.
What is it with these in-the-bag Obama bloggers that makes them so self-important and bloviating, shivering in delight from their own audacious purple prose? It never ceases to amuse. Go, my children! Run! Fly! Make Teh Awesomely Awesome history! Run!
Ivy league education
Booman narcissistically clings to his too and bitterly refuses to relinquish his self delusion that he is brilliant and we the masses are idiots. He blogs daily and lives without wealth attempting to nourish our pathetic thought processes with the gift of HIM.
LMAO @ verklempt
the blog is so colorful tonight
Checkmate in three moves. Not bad.
Larry, you’re fantastic. Every superdelegate should definitely switch to Hillary ASAP, since they can be assured of this coming August/October surprise by the GOP. Why would the GOP lie about this? Most Republicans have come to prefer Hillary over McCain. It’s just terrific to know they’re doing everything they can to get her elected! Kudos for everything you do, Larry. (I tried your “donate” button but couldn’t get it to work.)
Sit tight. Tomorrow it will all happen. All the SDs will rush to Hillary’s side thanks to the rumor of this tape.
Obama is toast!
Hey Mr.Longman,
You’re already jumping to conclusion; you must have seen the tape since you’re already distorting the truth and trying hard to spin for more lies. I want to see Obama throwing Michele under the bus.
I guess Mr. Long-man is frightened of the prospect of a woman President. Castration anxiety, anyone?
It makes no sense that people are denying a tape or criticizing the discussion of the existence of a tape. People are just sitting back waiting to see if a tape exists, what might be on it and what the impact might be. So what? Why get your panties in a twist?
Booman embarrassed himself. He gets the blog confused with the visitors. Why doesn’t he just sit back and wait.
too forebearing? painful? Is it just me or are Obama supporters overdramatic.
People are just curious. Get over it.
In the examples posted I have a question for MR. Booman. IF he is providing those examples then “why’d he” use “Why did Bush” in the original examples and then “Why’d he”? Because those examples are not equal. Because if I would write it I would put “Why did Bush…” I the grammar tense changes for the examples. I don’t buy the examples that are posted. Larry you sure you quoted your pal correctly? The premise of how it could have easily be mixed up doesn’t make sense to me.
Its correct I saw it last night right about the time I got an email claiming it said something else. What boo posted and what I was sent are similar but not exact. Judge for yourself and for the trolls please read my disclaimer.
http://www.mytowntalks.com/politics/michelle-obama-whitey-transcript.php
Who sent you the email, if I may inquire?
That is because you are a moron.
This excuse sort of sounds like the joke
“the food in this restaurant is just terrible…hideous…putrid.”
“yeah. And the portions are so small.”
Following the Obama game just makes me head hurt.
Mental twister for the audaciously stupid.
Hee. And the portions are so small!
Since when is passing around third-hand rumor considered “breaking” news? Before Larry accuses others of being on someone’s payroll, he should really figure out who is pulling his strings? Of course, be three degrees removed, he had no clue.
However, he will delete this message because he can’t handle criticism.
and you can’t handle the truth. drip drip drip drip drip drip drip
They cant handle the truth, they can’t even deal with Odinga’s mass murder…
Let’s see, Michelle arranges several times for Barack to appear on a panel with Bill Ayers, a friend and associate for 20 years+ promoting failed school reforms and sharing other like ideas!
So question becomes, did Barack arrange for Michelle to sit on panels with Fararakhan?
What is so really funny is Axelrod’s astroturfing is astrofucking himself, the old hack is losing it big time!
So Old Boo Boo is “grateful and indebted” to Larry and Susan because “they have both done a lot for me.”
Yet he finds it perfectly acceptable to lie and misrepresent what Larry has said all along about the tape. And Boo Boo started off his little whine-fest with this:
Nice way for Boo Boo to smear his “friend” and disparage his service to this country.
With friends like him . . .
ONE MORE TIME FOR THE CHEAP SEATS!!!
WHERE IS YOUR PROOF THAT THE OBAMA CAMP ACKNOWLEDGED ANY OF THIS?
You’re just showing your elitist and unpatriotic. Don’t try to shove your grad school mentality down our throats! Get a freakin’ job!!! Fight on Hillary!
yelling will get you a big stfu!
Will it get me proof first? Or after? Or at any point??? EVER????9/!!ELEVENTY!!!OMGWTFBBQ!!
The tape does absolutely exist. That is now clear. And what someone said in another thread is also true. Obama sent out talking points like he did when Bittergate happened. It was soooooo obvious over at Politico that the Obamabots were spouting the SAME justification in different words over and over again.
This idea of the mothership sending out “what to think” to various yes-men is frightening in and of itself.
Where’s any proof at all?
Using “any” and “at all” is so redundant that it allows me to judge that you are not worth replying to.
He thinks he’s so freakin’ postmodern, with his “any” and “all.” But he’s just an intellectual bully, just like the rest of those Obambi peacenik racists, always thinking they have the right to be demanding things from patriotic Americans!
OMG, your rapier logic is spot on.
It would appear Martin gave the proof, right?
Isn’t that Larry’s argument?
There is none. It’s all wishful thinking. Larry’s probably laughing himself color-blind given how easy it was to whip his worshippers - oops, terribly smart independently thinking Democrats - into a frenzy. I heard Saddam Hussein was on this tape, serving coffee to Farrakhan, whilst Fidel Castro was serenading them all with old Cuban melodies. Apparently, Kim Jong Il dropped in too!
I’ve seen the tape. Bin Laden is on the panel, too and boy, does he have some harsh words for “whitey.” Then Me-Chelle agrees and they do the chicken dance together.
Oh. My. God. The Obamas are going down in flames!
Is that Martin fellow retarded, or simply a typical “Duhhhh, I don’t NEED to know how to REEEEAD” Obamaturd?
Larry, you have made it plain that you do not have the tape, yet the idiot leads off with a big fat lie. Is he stupid, or is that simple mendacity? Or could it be both?
Also, He’s insisting that it’s “Why’d he” …. in a tape that Team Obama hasn’t admitted exists!
Like shooting fish in a barrel.
It doesn’t matter if Michelle is sitting there with Farrakhan singing Ave Fucking Maria–it’s problematic. Especially when Obama has taken such pains to use people like, oh, REZKO, as a cut-out between himself and the likes of Louis F. He never wanted too much of that LF stank on HIM.
But here’s the kicker–he’s turned you into Jim Phelps of the campaign, “scaring the superdelegates” with your…ooooooooh….BACKGROUND.
Will the Secretary disavow any knowledge of your actions?
I thought the Obama camp HAD admitted it existed. I’d like to see proof of any of LJ’s claims. So far he’s supplied zero.
But then you would be attributing to him a statement he did not make.
Get it?
Or are you that dumb, this technique of the smear failing, and your inherient, ahem, “intellect” unable to counter?
Indian call center, guy gets off script, and he’s toast…
I would be? Nah. Though that seems to be completely acceptable here so your comment is amusing.
Too freakin’ funny!!! “RL” sure sounds like an Indian name all right. Go back to India, you grad school freak — always demanding “the facts,” when we all know everything we need to know already. There all just elitists, not even Americans. Obama=Farakhan. Thanks to Larry, the GOP now supports Hillary!!
GO GOP GO GOP!
RL sounds like an Indian name? How do initials sound like an Indian name?
Exactly, “RL” sounds like a Hindu name all right. I think “RL,” if that is your real name, is on the tape, too, nodding along to the “whitey” comments along with Wright, Farrakhan, Kim Jong-Il and Bin Laden.
We don’t need you “racists” trying to take over our White House!
So where, exactly, may the video be viewed?
Martin doesnt know disinformation.
LOLOLOLOLOL
They’re like a bunch of big headed, puffy, arrogant Bart Simpsons, aren’t they?
Right, Larry. What you’re doing is ‘thinking.’ Just like that weird thing on your head is ‘hair.’
right.
Just like what you do is “troll” running a guy “intelligent enough” to be president.
Larry’s strategy appears to be working quite well, thanks to Longman and the idiots in the Obama campaign.
It would seem so. My crystal ball is broken though and I can’t tell what the hell is going on anymore.
This place is reminds me of Redstate during the Domenach debacle.
And you remind me of an adult Bart Simpson, thinking he’s smart enough to run Washington.
Real dumb, all puffy, the jesus of spam.
A stupid Jesus.
Are you retarded? Seriously. That is the worst thing I have ever read.
I’ve seen more than one post like this on the web - by Obama supporters. I definitely think Obama is aware of the tape.
I saw that Bill Clinton did the nasty with Walter Mondale on the internet. Should I believe that?
Well, you would, but you shouldn’t.
Shit, you think Obama is Presidential caliber.
It’s actually possible to reverse engineer the Obama talking points. So Obamabots: Please keep talking. LOL
Lynn Sweet from the Chicago Sun-Times says in Chicago being best buds with Farrakhan is considered perfectly acceptable.
If that’s true, Chicago must be even more corrupt than I thought.
Do you people have any idea how freaked out you look?
You seem like people without emotional control. Irrational.
It’s crazys like you that turned so much of this country off to Hillary in the first place.
What losers.
It’s the immaturity. They sense that their toys are going to be taken away and are *just* on the verge of throwing a huge fit. The tears are now in their eyes.
At this point, let’s all go to Denver. I’m in an ass-whupping mood and believe me I will not be bullied like those unfortunate enough to live in caucus states.
What country is that? It is not this one. Hillary has been winning big since March. Try less koolaid?
When you try to reverse your opponent’s position, it doesn’t work if the basic premise isn’t true, you’re trying to prove a negative, really no matter how often you repeat the lie, you harm your own position, in the end.
See, there is a thing such as “counter propaganda,” not outsourced to India.
I don’t know who you’re calling a loser, but I hope you get your head screwed on straight pretty soon. Call all the superdelegates! Tell them to listen to the tape tonight, if not sooner! We can still win this thing!
Larry,
thanks for posting this letter.. !!!Amazing that these people call themselves the unbiased media.. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do the same thing at CNN and MSNBC
==============
I think you need to tell the Obamabots that their unity pony was at this panel as well. LOL!
Hello. My name is Stormy and I have a blog at http://www.conservativepolitics.today.com I have been following, and blogging about this topic.
A few minutes ago a comment was left on my blog about the origins of the “why’d he” vs “whitey” transcript.
I would love to know if Mr Johnson, or any others here have received this same comment, and if so what their response is.
Thank you,
Stormy
http://conservativepolitics.today.com/2008/06/02/obama-camp-claims-whitey-tape-does-not-exist-but-releases-transcript/
I never heard of him or “Booman Tribune”.
“First, the Obama campaign is admitting the tape exists by ponying up a bogus explanation. Second, they don’t dispute that Michelle is sitting at the table with Louis Farrakhan.”
Where can I find this “admission”? And where can I find the article/statement/video of the Obama campaign conceding that “Michelle is sitting at the table with Louis Farrakhan”?
“But you, Martin, now claim you have a transcript. How do I know? Because you quoted the transcript in detail.”
Yes, his parody of your lunacy is tantamount to “quot[ing] the transcript in detail.”
Shorter Larry Johnson: I heard from someone, who heard from someone else, that this horribly damaging tape exists. It doesn’t matter that I heard of this election-changing development from a bunch of Republicans. And it also doesn’t matter that the rumor has popped up days before Hillary can no longer delay out the inevitable. You, my loyal handful of readers, are smarter than those who insist on seeing actual evidence — as opposed to, say, third-person hearsay — and we alone will have the last laugh when McCain is sworn in and continues the nightmare of George Bush.
Paradoy? Of what? Where did the quotes come from? Medicare? Where’d that come from?
By the way, sharing a platform with Farrakhan isn’t exactly news. Just ask Clinton surrogate Ed Rendell — a good man by the way, and I still think a good Veep choice — who shared one with the man in 1997 when Rendell was the Mayor of Philly, and gave a speech lauding the Nation of Islam for all the great work they had done.
Politics, as they say, makes strange bedfellows. And Farrakhan, particularly back in the 90s, was welcomed onto more platforms than you might think.
So unless the friend of a friend of a friend who saw the Unicorn in the first place can at least bring back some tiny piece of horn? This is yet another failed attempt by Larry to inject himself into the larger narrative. Unfortunate thing is, nobody seems to care.
So a tape exists with some words that you or someone (like Roger Stone…) have been twisting. You can’t actually show the tape because that would be easily debunked, but you can start a whispering campaign, maybe convince enough people that it’s “Whitey” that you get half a news cycle out of it.
You people are fucking degenerates. Go take a look at yourself in the mirror. This is precisely what the GOP did to Hillary in the early 90s, and you’ve become their bosom pal.
Fact: There is no evidence such a tape exists.
Fact: There is not a single person who has gone on the record saying such a tape exists or that they have seen such a tape.
Fact: There are Republicans blaming Hillary supporters for the existance of such a tape and Hillary supporters blaming Republicans for the existance of such a tape. Both camps benefit from such speculation but neither camp wants to get blamed for starting it.
Fact: Larry Johnson’s claim to have spoken to five people with knowledge of the tape is simply not believable in light of the fact THAT NOT A SINGLE PERSON IN POLITICS HAS BEEN TOLD SUCH A THING and he remains the only source of such a rumor.
Fact: Larry Johnson doesn’t have a dime’s worth of credibility but since he is basing these claims on anonymous Republican sources he can claim he was set up if this tape never surfaces (which it won’t becuase it doesn’t exist.)
Of course if the tape surfaces I’ll be happy to eat crow. But does anyone seriously believe such a tape is ever going to surface? Didn’t think so…
ok
I admit it Obamatrons
I started the rumor
and I’ve got the tape
except it’s NOT a tape
it’s a DVD baby cuz I burned 100 copies for all my BFF’s!
:-P~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m a diehard Hillary supporter and I want her to win as much as or more than anyone else. But reading these comments makes me sick. The blatant racism is sickening and makes me ashamed. I didn’t like the sexism aimed at her, and I don’t like the race-tinged remarks many on this site have aimed at him. I don’t think Hillary would want to be associated with these views. You can dislike Obama and oppose his candidacy without spewing such hatred. Otherwise, you’re no better than what you’re accusing Michelle Obama of.
And Larry, you really need a higher level of proof than a friend of a friend saw the tape. Give more details about what you know, and how you know it. Also, what proof do you have that Booman is reciting talking points, and that he got it from the Obama campaign? An earlier post by Student Guy at mydd.com had similar wording, but he posed it as his own prediction of what such a tape, if it existed, would show.
Larry, you can’t just make stuff up. If it came from Obama, be more specific. Otherwise, don’t say it. (And please monitor your comments; it reflects badly on Hillary.)
We used to criticize the other side for a lot of these tactics. We were the reality-based crowd, remember? Now we’re descending to the level of Freepers.
My desire for Hillary to win, and my distaste for Obama, make me hope the tape is real. But this is all very unseemly and Hannityesque. Unless Larry Johnson can provide some semblance of a journalistic standard of proof, then he should be careful with his “facts.” His, and our, credibility is at stake.
Strange how a transcript has emerged and the typed word as anyone knows holds little to the words being actually said from a persons lips and the context of them being said, along with the expression used in saying them!
So transcripts do not parallel the actual and for the transcript beng out there, does confirm that Obama and Axelrod are trying to astroturf it for damage control, problem is, didn’t work for Wright, won’t for Michelle.
Just Wright’s words in type would astound many, but when actually listening to them from his lips said it to EVERYONE.
Ah but not to fret Obamabots, as your messiah will give a new speech to the world telling them it is everyone elses fault again, just like he did on March 18, how stupid do people have to be to realize just how pathetic the Obama’s and solely selfserving they are!
You people are embarrassing yourselves.
Billador sent a Japanese cruiser.
And I saw an Indian man driving a Honda,
purchased from a car dealer in Oakland.
And here we are, today…
Sorry, OT
wait a minute, you said you don’t have a tape larry. now, you know what it says? lol this guy is a liar.
can you not read, guess that is why you make a living blogging for Obama instead of actually going to class and learning huh!
Read again before you open your mouth and show just how stupid Obamabots are!
If they were smart, the Obama bloggers would release the tape of Larry snorting cocaine and screaming obscenities about Jews and Asians.
6-2-2008 Michelle warns Montana not to trust us.
Long after the general election is over, Americans are going to have to stay engaged if the country’s political environment is to change, Michelle Obama told a Billings crowd Monday.
The wife of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama told a few hundred supporters gathered at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center they had to remain active in their communities and do their own research on issues in order the change the country’s political path.
“The way this campaign has been run is the way we need to be forever,” Obama said. “Don’t trust bloggers or someone else’s opinion, because people lie.”

you people actually read hotair. what a bunch faux dems
Follow the Money.
GOPers are using the tape to raise funds.
yes it’s amazing he has a “transcript” this is funny is it not? he an obama supporter was given a transcript!
my god are people blind!
this same guy’s post, i read it early today on mydd and left my remarks there of what i thought of regarding these paid for obamabot bloggers.
what will it take for people to open their eyes and see all the lies? as mentioned.. first the obama camp denied any such tape, then suddenly obamabot blogger have access to the transcript? i mean what does a person have to do to get people to wake up and see what’s going on..
and yes the guy is lying about Larry claiming to have the tape… in all Larry’s posts on the topic, I never read once where he claimed to have the tape or have access to it.
spin lies bullshit.. standard anything-it-takes-to-get-elected=Obama bullshit
When did the Obama camp deny the tape existed? Have a link?
larry said he doesn’t have the tape, but claims this is a transcript? how does he know this is a transcript? lol you people fall for anything.
I saw almost the same “transcript” on National Review Online today. Text below from “The Campaign Spot” at campaignspot.nationalreview.com

“Is the Michelle Obama Tape a Matter of Enunciation?
A really interesting theory about the alleged Michelle Obama tape, which could explain a lot, from the liberal blog Booman Tribune. Michelle, offering a speech critical of President Bush, offers a refrain of “why’d he” — the words “why did he” mushed together — that sounds like “whitey” on the tape.
Apparently, if the tape ever comes to light, her words will sound something like:
Whitey cut folks off Medicaid?
Whitey let New Orleans drown?
Whitey do nothing about Jena?
Whitey put us in Iraq for no reason?*
…when the intended message is,
Why’d he cut folks off Medicaid?
Why’d he let New Orleans drown?
Why’d he do nothing about Jena?
Why’d he put us in Iraq for no reason?
Or so we will be told. The irony is, if the latter interpretation is accurate, we still have a potential first lady accusing her husband’s predecessor of “letting” New Orleans drown.
UPDATE: Contemplating the rumor below, I wondered when and how Michelle Obama and Louis Farrkhan would appear on a panel together. Farrakhan doesn’t seem like the type to voluntarily share the stage. But then I noted that in late 2007, Trinity United gave Farrakhan its lifetime achievement award with a full ceremony — the video shown that evening is still on YouTube, with the feminine announcer declaring, “For his commitment to truth, education and leadership, we honor Minister Louis Farrakhan with the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. lifetime achievement award.” (Before you ask, the announcer is not Michelle Obama.) Is it possible the two are at the head table for a banquet? Is this the circumstance of Michelle Obama’s remarks?
ANOTHER UPDATE: Readers point out that whether this is a question (”Why’d he”) or a statement (”whitey”) should be fairly clear from the intonation of the sentence, if we ever get to hear the audio of the tape. The pitch usually increases for a question, and decreases for a statement.
YET ANOTHER UPDATE: There’s another transcript floating around FreeRepublic and elsewhere that would make it hard to believe that this is a mispronunciation of “why’d he.” I have no idea where this alternative transcript comes from, and note that those who are posting it to various conservative chat rooms, etc., give no sense of where they heard it from.
An interesting point about the alternative explanation posted on Booman Tribune. Whoever felt the need to give that clarifying transcript to a liberal blog is, by that action, confirming that the tape exists.
FINAL UPDATE: I am now a skeptic that this tape exists, for reasons explained here.

Hey Larry- June 2nd has come and gone. No tape. Instead we get a back and forth about a transcript for a tape that may or may not exist. I can’t believe with all the tapes that have popped up, this one is being hid. You said it would be released today. Either put up or shut up. Your wolf-calling is getting a bit tedious.
And for those who call Michelle racist based on rumors posted on a blog speak an awful lot about yourselves.
