Like Two Peas in a Pod

Obama can be as deeply disappointed as he wants to be about Father Pfleger’s comments. But his fake outrage doesn’t fool Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League. Because Donohue knows that the relationship between the two of them is not the casual pretense that Obama claims. In fact Obama and Pfleger have a long history together.

OBAMA-PFLEGER TIE RUNS DEEP

“Obama and Pfleger are no strangers. Indeed, when Obama was in the state senate in Illinois, he conveniently arranged for Father Pfleger’s St. Sabina’s Church to receive state monies for its social programs. Of course, the guardians of church and state separation said nothing then and they are saying nothing now. That’s because they’re all in the tank for Obama.

As should be evident, Donohue isn’t someone that bamboozles very easily. He sees right through Obama’s smoke and mirrors routine. And he doesn’t quite understand how it is that Obama came to associate himself outside the mainstream radical people like Pfleger.

Just as important, why is it that of all the wonderful Catholic priests in the Chicago Archdiocese, Obama long ago chose Pfleger to hang with?

That really is the question. How is it that Obama just happens to run with people that are completely opposed to the message he promotes? Is it a character flaw? And if so, wouldn’t that be a fatal flaw indeed for someone aspiring to become President? Just what sort of role model is Obama promoting here? The United Hate of America?

Donahue then asks the eternal question. The conundrum if you will.

“Senator Obama says he wants to bring people together. Then why does he choose as his clerical friends people like Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Father Pfleger? They are two peas in a pod, both equally divisive, separated only by the color of their skin.”

And this question needs to be answered. Perhaps we should also be asking the Democratic elite why they are supporting a candidate that has such controversial and contradictory associations. It has never made any sense to me.

The last line of this blog has been my question these last few weeks. The risk is too high, the behavior illogical. How is Howard benefiting Howard through all of this?

Comment by Susie from Philly | 2008-06-02 00:54:06

Yeah, Bill Donahue is an out-and-out nut. You’re not going to win any credibility points with this one.

Comment by The Real Hope | 2008-06-02 08:44:25

Nut or not Mr. Donahue has the nerve these days to be politically incorrect and to stand up for what he believes in. Whether or not you or I feel that is valid is not the point. He’s gutsy and that isn’t something we see very often in this politically correct milieu.

He is saying something that is obviously true. Just put two and two together and you won’t come up with five like the obamatrolls. Figure it out.

Comment by I will Remember in November | 2008-06-02 01:26:19

Pfleger used the phrase “trust fund” when ranting against Hillary and white entitlement. Remember when Michelle in her infamous “give us something here” speech asked where’s barack’s “trust fund?” Is there anymore room in that pod?

We will remember in November!

Comment by j muennich | 2008-06-02 02:15:49

Thank God for Donahue, who has the courage to defend what true Catholics believe.
‘Mainstream’ catholics are perhaps those who defend abortion and Obama’s Bill to kill the innocents who survive abortion in Illinois?

Comment by cynic465 | 2008-06-02 02:25:50

Whatever you may think of Donohue, most Catholics strongly feel that Pflegers sermons are unchristian, not in line with what Jesus taught and how he lived, and promote anger and possibly violence. That is not the job of a priest. If Pfleger wants to continue to follow his beliefs he needs to leave the pulpit and get into politics.

Hello all,

Do you remember when you were back in school? I think it was like this in most schools back in the day. If you hung out with what we called the nerds you were considered one, if you hung out with the jocks you usually were one, if you hung out with the smokers you would be found smoking a cigarette out behind the school…..you get my point….You are known by the company you keep…for over 20 years he has hung out with some pretty shady people and then when you look at his spiritual leaders…my goodness…Turn it around..A white church…the white preacher says the government lied about inventing the HIV virus it is a means of genocide against white Americans.. governments lie, and the crowd cheers…Take what Pfleger said and put Obama’s name in place of Hillary’s, if my pastor did that I would walk out of the church…They cheered him on..you get where I am going, now say Hillary or John McCain went to this church for 20 years, we wouldn’t even think of voting for them…Obama’s friend Ayers is sorry he didn’t blow up more buildings and hurt or kill more people in America….His campaign manager is a member of Rev. Michael L. Pfleger church.. http://old.saintsabina.org/ Obama gives his church HOW MUCH of the taxpayers money? Over how many years?…The Chicago way got him in office and they profited from it…what will his friends get if he makes it to the oval office? I don’t want to find out..I will be voting for a republican for president for the first time in my adult life time because I love my country….

Comment by Grace | 2008-06-02 03:06:41

Thank you for your comment. As a life long Democrat, I will never vote for Obama. We would be trading one inexperienced president for another even less experienced, also less honest. At least Bush is who he says he is and doesn’t waver. Obama is a jerk and is not what Americans want to be leading the free world. His associations with very scary people should give every Democrat pause. This election has been rigged from the beginning by the DNC. I have now become a watcher of Fox news and am reading conservative opinions every chance I get. That is what the DNC did for the Democratic party.

Comment by William L. Donlon | 2008-06-02 03:45:16

You are missing the larger point. Michael Pfleger, a twenty year friend of Obama, a media smart player in the Chicago Democratic Machine, is invited to Trinity, puts on a “Sexist” show at Hillary’s expense, is openly filmed and posted on U Tube. THINK ABOUT IT! COME ON–YOUR SMARTER THAN THIS!
Obama has been loosing the “White Vote” ever since the “Pastor Disaster” broke. Every Poll showed that Obama had to make a choice, Leave Trinity or loose in November. Obama needed an incident that would justify his exit after twenty years and two speeches in which he defended staying in the church. The “incident” could not involve Rev. Wright or the “New Pastor”. What To Do? What To Do? “I’ve got it”, we’ll have a “White Man” do it, But Who??? HMMMMMM? PFLEGER!!! He’ll do it, we’ll film it, put it on U Tube and Barack will be out by Friday and will be “Trinity Free” when he claims victory over Hillary. The MSM will eat it up with a spoon and no one is smart enough to figure this out”.
These Obama people really do believe they can play anybody. They are laughing up their sleeves at the MSM. Behind closed doors they refer to the “Stanleys” over at MSNBC as “Useful Tools”. You know, Keith Stanley, Chris Stanley etc. Pfleger is a Stanley.

Comment by MyTownTalks | 2008-06-02 16:44:34

William, you might be on to something. I’ve thought ever sinc eI saw this that it was staged. Afterall they know everyone is watching them now so they staged this sermon to give Obama a way out. How else would have the replied immiediately to Obama’s speech when he said his intention to leave was leaked to CNN? Right after his speech the church issued their statement.

“Lost your bearings”? That’s the same phrase Obama used against McCain. C’mon, does the Obama camp have nothing original? That’s the whole problem with Obama and his followers. There’s never anything genuine. It’s all leeched off others or influenced by others.

And by the way, in response to Mark’s comment above:

And when Hillary beats Obama she will have risen to the status of FDR and will have a huge mandate to achieve her goals. Your tactics are part of the reason for her success. I became very active in this race because of the negative campaign tactics of you and Obama.

Comment by Mark | 2008-06-02 07:33:50

Where did I insult you? I was addressing the poster calling her/himself “West Texas”, and I believe I was 100% correct.

What Democrat isn’t aware that “Clintonian/FDR Democrat” is an oxymoron? What Democrat throws around the term “appeaser” about a fellow Democrat?

No Democrat at all, in my experience. S/he is obviously one of the many Republicans who are currently doing their best to stir animosity between Clinton and Obama supporters in order to prevent the party from unifying around its nominee as long as possible.

The entire TUCC/Rev Wright/Pfleger/Ayers/Rezko/Khalidi clusterF*ck is a pretty good litmus test for telling the difference between Old School Tough Minded Pragmatic New Deal Liberal, Quishy Neo Liberal/Left Libertarians/Latte Liberals, the hard core New New Left Gramscian/Marcusian Marxists and the Kool-aid drinking Obamabots.

Tough Minded Liberals from day one saw through Obama the minute the learned about his dubious left-wing connections regardless of whether or not they were Clinton supporters. They had no illusions that these revelation made Obama the kiss of death in the GE. True progressive liberal Democrats regardless of past disagreements with the Clinton camp made up their minds quickly.

The Neo-Liberals, Left Libertarians and Latte Liberals have made asses out of themselves ripe for parody attempting to “contextualize” these atrocities. They don’t have the balls to admit their attempts at fashional political posturing now has them looking like fools. Instead they make completely dubious arguments that all these revelations do not matter because Obama has a mathematical lock on the nomination. Anything to avoid the sting of “buyers remorse”.

The hard core New New Left Gramscian/Marcusian Marxists actually go out of their way defending the likes of Rev. Wright, Pfleger and Ayers. They actually brizzle at the attempts by the Obama campaign to triangulate and manuever around their hidden agenda. They say things like “What is wrong with what Rev. Wright said after all. Because it is the truth”

The Obamabots are incapable of doing anything but mouthing the latest Alexrodian talkingpoints after waiting in line for another dose of kool-aid.

Comment by Mark | 2008-06-02 05:00:29

I’m confused. Which of those categories am I in if I think that (1) both Clinton and Obama are pretty good candidates; (2) Wright, Pfleger, Ayers, etc. are not my cup of tea, but don’t amount to a hill of beans in the scheme of things; and (3) I mostly just want a Democrat to win in November, which, now that Obama has won the nomination, requires Democrats to put the primary behind them and start focusing on the general.

I’m sure you must have a special category for folks like me! I would hate to think I miss out.

Comment by Mary | 2008-06-02 05:35:43

He hasn’t won the nomination yet, Mark.

Stick with reality when commenting.

Comment by Mark | 2008-06-02 05:49:48

Do you mean to point out that he hasn’t won the nomination yet in the sense that, like John McCain, he’s only the presumptive nominee until the convention votes, or are you trying to tell me that you believe that there is still a possibility that Hillary can win?

If the former, well, fair enough, from now on I’ll refer to him as the presumptive nomineee, if that works better for you.

If that latter, well, I’d love for you to explain to me how that is possible.

You know that she’s already started laying off campaign staff, right?

You are in the category of “willing to sell out my country to vote for a person who claims to be a Democrat.”

The rest of us are in the category of “wanting to vote for the best person for the job, regardless of what party that person belongs to.” And most of us feel that the order of preference is:

1. Hillary
2. McCain
3. Obama

Get it now?

Comment by llamajockey | 2008-06-02 13:26:16

You are clearly an Obamabot. Because after spending the last 6 months race baiting the Clintons, today’s Alexrodian talkingpoint is all about Unity and winning in the fall.

The stone cold reality is Obama with all of his Marxist baggage does not stand a snowball’s chance the minute his nomination would be official. Obama will be entering the convention already trailing McCain in the critical swing states. He will be lucky to be leading in some of the solid blue states.

Obama will be a far worse blow out that Dukakis. I think he will actually loose every single state. Yes worse than McGovern.

Ayers does not matter??? Please come back and try telling us that in September when the photo of Ayers stomping on the American flag is being on tv literally 24/7.

Comment by POdVet | 2008-06-02 06:10:23

Mark, most of us have researched Mr Obama and realize he is the most corrupt candidate to ever run for President. His association with Ayers is bad, the Wright mess would have passed if he had not LIED about never having heard it. He heard it and laughed along with everyone else in the Church. Oprah heard it and it drove her to leave 6 years ago. But the FACT that he along with other corrupt politicians in Illinois conspired with Rezko and Auchi and others to defraud the people of Illinois out of millions of dollars. They are criminals and belong in prison plain and simple. The White House may have one criminal in it right now, but that doesn’t mean we have to be stupid enough to send another crook there!

Comment by Mark | 2008-06-02 06:20:42

Dude, if you think that Obama is the most corrupt candidate to ever run for President, then you don’t know very much about Obama, and you don’t know very much about American history!

C’mon, be serious for a sec. Ayers, Wright and Rezko are penny-ante stuff. There’s just nothing there that’s capable of shifting a general election campaign.

And for that matter, there’s plenty of stuff in the Clintons’ closet that could have been used to make an equally big (and irrelevant) splash in this primary campaign had Obama chosen to use it … but he didn’t … to his credit.

(Read the Purdum piece in Vanity Fair if you want a taste of what could have been).

Comment by cynic465 | 2008-06-02 02:19:04

Sorry charlie. Purdom’s piece is nothing compared to Obama’s Chicago politics, the inherent racism and marxist leanings as exemplified by his books and his work. His “colleagues” are not penny ante unless people’s deaths are nothing to you. But then since one of his more prominent bloggers is a marxist what can we expect from the rest.

I find it interesting but not unexpected that as an elected official he did no real work for the people but continuosly campaigned on the taxpayer’s dime. I researched him extensivley, read everyhting, looked at every detail of his records, (as I did for the other candidates) and consider him unelectable.

Anyone wanting to know more about the bloggers on his staff can read my post under the Fr. Pfleger article.

State pork to Obama’s district included allies, donors

One of those long-time supporters was Rev. Michael Pfleger, the politically active leader of St. Sabina Church. He gave Obama’s campaign $1,500 between 1995 and 2001, including $200 in April 2001, about three months after Obama announced $225,000 in grants to St. Sabina programs.

I am trying to explain to you why it is crystal clear that “West Texas” is not “one of you”.

You are a Democrat and a passionate (though in my view, somewhat unrealistic) Clinton supporter.

He or she is a GOP troll. Please try to understand. This is happening all over the place. Republicans would LOVE this split in the party to last and deepen and are doing their best to make it happen. One way they are doing it is going on Dem boards posing as Clinton supporters and posting inflammatory remarks to pick fights. The point is to draw the REAL Clinton supporters into defending them … which worked in your case.

These people are not your friends, and are, in fact, trying to undermine everything you stand for.

Comment by MaryPat | 2008-06-02 14:41:51

The Obamabots have so many endearing qualities, but their condescension is perhaps my favorite. All of us poor misguided Clinton supporters who are still refusing to come to Jesus. They obviously believe we are stupid, and can be manipulated into turning on each other and/or voting for “Jesus” out of party loyalty or fear (i.e., the Roe/SCOTUS argument).

Hey, “dude,” isn’t it time to get back to the skateboarding and video games?

Comment by Mark | 2008-06-02 19:19:18

Well, if a person thinks that they believe in what Hillary stands for, and yet would continue to attempt to undermine the Democratic party’s nominee for President once Hillary’s campaign is over, then “stupid” would be the right word. Not to mention petty, infantile and self-destructive.

But I’m prepared to assume the best of people, which is why I assume that those posting sentiments along those lines are not actually Democrats, but Republicans who know exactly what they are doing.

No unity here, never, no way!
For whatever faults my country has, she is still the greatest country on the planet.
Obama is NOT a Democrat- he is a disaster in the making for our country.
Maybe you think Ayers, Farrakhan and company are penny-ante- I disagree. Ayers is a terrorist who still, after all these years, wants to overthrow the United States and has found the perfect foil to accomplish his nefarious goals in Obama. Farrakhan is a Nation of Islam fanatic who also wants to put an end to our country and way of life.
And before you go spouting off about ME being a rep troll- forget it- I have voted Democratic every election since I was eligible to vote. No more- I will never vote the “party line” ever again. The Democratic party has deserted their principles and Donna Brazile says she doesn’t need us anymore.
Well, I am still waiting for Ms. Brazile to keep her word and resign the party as she stated she would if the Supers decided the nomination. Oh now that won’t happen because she thinks her Affirmative Action candidate has the nom locked up.
Go troll someplace else.
