Our thanks to Martin Longman over at Booman Tribune. He performed a public service last night by disseminating Barack Obama talking points even before I had published my update. Two key points–First, the Obama campaign is admitting the tape exists by ponying up a bogus explanation. Second, they don’t dispute that Michelle is sitting at the table with Louis Farrakhan.

My old friend, Larry Johnson, knows about manipulating elections from his training with the Central Intelligence Agency. He doesn’t want Obama to win the nomination for whatever reason, and he’s in full propaganda mode to do everything he can to frighten the superdelegates. He claims to have a shocking tape of Michelle Obama ranting in some anti-white diatribe. He promises to produce this tape tomorrow at 9am.From what I understand, it is a tape of Michelle Obama criticizing the Bush administration.

Whitie put us in Iraq for no reason?I’m going to be honest with you. Both SusanHu and Larry Johnson have been friends of mine. They have both done a lot for me and I am grateful and indebted to them. Any issues I’ve had with their activities in this election I have kept private. I haven’t visited their site in four months because I found it too personally painful to read what they were writing and I did not want to be tempted to respond. I thought I owed them that. But loyalty can only go so far. If they publish this allegation tomorrow, I will no longer speak with them. And I say that with great sorrow.
This election has ruined a lot of friendships. I have tried hard not to let it ruin mine. But smears of this type are unforgivable. I have been forebearing. Perhaps, in retrospect, I have been too forebearing. That’s all I say. This is too painful to me.
Martin, buddy. It ain’t a smear when it is true. I have made it clear all along that I do not have the tape but have spoken with good friends who know folks who have seen the tape. Martin, I have never, ever claimed to have the tape or stated that I was going to post same. I also have made it clear that the folks surrounding McCain want to keep this quiet until after August. So get your facts right Booman.
But you, Martin, now claim you have a transcript. How do I know? Because you quoted the transcript in detail. Terrific. Bring it out. Let’s put this to bed once and for all. Let’s show the world that Farrakhan and Michelle were exchanging Kool-Aid recipes.

I’ve had my run-ins with Martin. He’s called me all sorts of names, and basically was embarrassed by me. He’s nothing more than a political hack. Not worth the time or effort to rebut.

I blogged at BoomanTribune for years, until this election season, when misogyny and hatred for boomers and all things Hillary reared its’ ugly head. They live in a bubble so thick that they can’t tell truth from fiction anymore. Martin has studiously ignored any and all negative stories about Obama, from right wing advisors, Rezko and Ayers to Wright. All stories are ignored equally and treated as if they don’t exist. So him dealing with this particular scandal is suspect. He wouldn’t be doing it unless there was a reason, like to lie for his hero.
So he has a transcript, huh? Where did that transcript come from? So he’s admitting that Michelle Obama sat with Farrakhan, but it was all sweet like roses and children in the morning. Yeah right, Booman, whatever. Credibility is a terrible thing to loose.
Wow! Political campagns are supposed to be about truth. There are not many voters who seem to like the mudslinging tactics in order to make your opponent look bad. It is different to publically announce certain issues they have voted for or actions they have made in their role as an officer of the people. But REALLY, are things so far gone for republican supportrers that they have to grab at ANY flimsy straw they can and use runour and propaganda to try to make a candidate seem like eveil incarnate? Or, is it that bloggers although entitled to opinions fancy themselves legitimate reporters, ( for which they are not), and they do not seem to get enough status and ego stroking in their REAL jobs/carrers (If they have any), that they use their Blog pages to try to make themselves important and recieve their 15 mins of fame. Since bloggers no matter how nice their website, or how they try to decorate their blog to seem legitimate and honest in the true fashion of journalism are still just mearly people of many walks of life merely voicing their opinions, Why on Gods green eart is anyone taking Larry Johnsons tripe and anti democratic rag as having any true merit. ‘I got the information on the whitey tape from a friend of a friend” In a court of law, that is considered hearsay, and NOT evidence. Further, Barrack Obama HAS answered this question definetively when he told the repoorted that If anyone has evidence of him or his wife saying derrogatory or racist remarks let him show it. That pretty much says to me and any intellegent human without and agenda that it is not true. I am sure Mr. Obama is getting a little tired of the little childish rumours being spawn through the internet and CONSTANTLY having to anser them instaed of important political topics, beliefs and actions that will affect every American and indeed Every human through out the world. Does Health care, the economy and the environment as well as the war not deserve more of his energy than responding to a bloggers unfounded thoughts, opinion and frankly malice. In a country that is predominately christian, the bible teaches us that the forces of evil try to undermine the good by posing as those trying to help, or those with good intention when what they are doing is trying to create caos so that the good can come forth. I don’t know who will win, but I do know that Larry Johnson and HIS cronies are tring to blog their way to malice and disruption of what is good for America.

Obviously Obama Campaign responses today indicates that she DID appear with Farrakhan (hmmmm, maybe that’s not such a good thing in and of itself??)…so prove to us what she said and this whole thing will go away.

I actually listened to the Farrakhan “Million Man March” speech (the first couple hours anyway, the man talks forever). It was pretty brilliant. Nothing racist in it. I’m white, BTW.

He’d sue Larry for slander or is it libel?
He could sue for neither. He is a public official and he cannot sue over a matter of “public concern”, whether true or not. New York Times v. Sullivan. This is such weak soup, this whole story. Put up or shut up.

Who needed a guy who had been in the Senator for 159 days to run for President? Ron Paul has more experience. No wonder his campaign is so screwed up. They were so careful not to be specific about anything. They just wanted to sell Obama’s personality — well part of that personality is the people you hang with. Hillary has been totally open about what she stands for while Obama does his hopey/changey — now we can add hatey to the mix. Your man, Bob Beckel, was on Fox and Friends this morning. He reported that Michelle Obama “bombshell” was going to drop tomorrow. In response to questions by the panel, he said that it was much worse than her thesis at Princeton.

Further Reasons For Skepticism on That Michelle Obama Tape
I hoped a tone of skepticism would permeate my earlier posts on the alleged Michelle Obama denouncing “whitey” tape. Still, some accuse me of hyping the story.
The preponderance of the evidence now suggests that there’s nothing there. One of the arguments that made me think there was some fire amid the smoke was the statement on Booman Tribune, attempting to explain that “why’d he” was being heard as “whitey.” This sort of explanation suggested that someone — perhaps allied with the Obama campaign? Someone in attendance of the event? — wanted to explain what people would be hearing on the tape, which suggested that there was a tape, and that some words that sounded like “why’d he”/”whitey” could be heard. The listing of specifics of the comment — Medicaid/Katrina/Jena/Iraq — also suggested someone had heard the comment, and wanted to put it in context…
But now I find that apparently Booman Tribune was merely paraphrasing another blogger’s prediction of what would be on the tape if it ever surfaced. No one claimed to have seen the tape. (That will teach me to put any stock in anything written on a liberal blog.)
Without that, what are we left with? Larry Johnson, a vehemently pro-Hillary and anti-Obama blogger, who in the past was running around telling people Karl Rove was about to be indicted. Republican political consultant Roger Stone, saying he believes it exists. I’m hearing from other reporters that their (secondhand, of course) sources are calling back and adding that they saw Louis Farrakhan on the tape, a detail that they didn’t mention before Johnson’s update of 9 this morning. Does the presence of Farrakhan seem like a detail that’s easy to forget?
If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. But right now I think the evidence suggests this is a hoax, and that we will never see tape of Michelle Obama saying these particular controversial remarks. The timing of this rumor’s surfacing is conveniently perfect to scare superdelegates, and the idea that it’s in the hands of sinister Republicans explains why fans of Hillary are eager to talk about it but unable to produce it.

OMG it is, and when did Larry make his post, this morning June 2nd at 7:40 something AM…..hmmm who is leading the distortion parade, hmmmmmm Axelrod as usual, but that is ok!
Tape or no tape, Obama and his communist friends will never make it to the White House and likely never even pass security to get in on a tour, so why all the bother by you Obamabots, if you are all so sure, because Axelrod sent you again to try to save your bosses ass again?
Is it worth the $0.25/hour Axelrod pays you guys? Shouldn’t you be spending your time studying since your mommy and daddy spent the $10’s of thousands for you to be in a school?
Or are you one of Obama’s prison inmate bloggers?

The other reason there is no tape is as follows. Were there a panel discussion, with someone filming it, it stands to reason, given the enormous interest in the Dem primary, that someone would have been aware of it and would have aired it. Especially around Wright-gates I or II. That this didn’t happen leaves 2 possibilities: i) it’s all baloney or ii) That Farrakhan and Michelle staged this panel for the sole benefit of Larry’s friend’s friend’s babysitter’s boyfriend’s first girlfriend and some exclusively Republican soothsayers, who knew years in advance that Hillary was about to lose the nomination to Obama and it would be jolly useful to see the two of them together, preferably saying something nasty - even better converting to Islam. I’m inclined to believe i).
So sue Larry. Why doesn’t Barky serve larry with papers? Shut him up. Why? He has every right to.
Why bother? Don’t you think he has enough to do without worrying what some blogger who MSM distances itself from has to say for himself? The truth will inevitably out. This is only perpetuated by people who really want to believe it. I expect it’s a case of Obama not wishing to dignify these out and out smears with a response. Of any sort.
Because it’s libel or slander and it could cost him a presidential election. Duh. Remember SC and Mccain and the Black baby campaign? Well, this ain’t no fucking whisper! It’s out in the open and if he doesn’t fight it, it gives credence to Larry’s argument, you stupid slip of a girl.
The reason he doesn’t care is people don’t believe it, except for people here or on porno-queen Taylor Marsh’s site. Given there’s absolutely diddley squat evidence for the existence of this tape, people don’t buy it. Secondly, people may consider the source - Larry. He’s got quite a track record, which is presumably why MSM and drudge haven’t touched this tale. And I suspect there’s also a huge class of people who think: “so the hell what?”. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that there exist a huge swathe of ordinary voters who just don’t care about anything Michelle might or might not have said.
A lot of energy wasted on something that doesn’t exist. I’m guessing you’ve never read Sun Tzu or studied Martial Arts. The one who conserves the most energy wins. Spinning takes alot of energy.

Shouldn’t you Obamabutts at least try to coordinate your stories? When word of the tape first surfaced, I really didn’t understand what all the fuss was about. Anyone not already aware that Michelle Obama hates white people has to be so dimwitted they are probably already supporting Obama, but to see so many trolls show up in such a snit really lends credence to the existence of such a tape (and it must really be good).
Let’s see, this is about Stage 2 of Standard Obama Denial Procedure. Stage 1 was denying the existence of the tape. Stage 2 is saying but if it did exist, this is what it really said — why’d he, not whitey. Stage 3 will be well, okay, she said whitey, but Obama was not aware of her saying it. Stage 4, of course, will be but, but, Hillary . . . . Stage 5 is when Obama finally admits everything and tries to throw Michelle under the bus, but she whips his ass and makes him cry. Stage 6 is when either Hillary or John McCain get elected President, and the Obamas and all their crazy preachers and criminal associates go back to Chicago and stop trying to destroy the Democratic Party and the country.

??? Obama fans can say what they want. Why do you suppose they should co-ordinate anything? I venture myself that the tape is entirely the product of a mind interested in smearing Obama. I couldn’t care less what theories other Obama supporters may venture -they are entitled to their opinions. It strikes me that your post is building a most magnificent straw man so you can take satisfaction in knocking it down. But, I bet there’s a tape somewhere of a gaggle of Obama supporters going through all your stages of grief. Maybe they’re all converting to Islam too. Do you think that would do it?
Why do you say “they” when clearly “we” is the appropriate pronoun for you to be using? Surely you are not trying to be sort of an “undercover” Obamabutt. Are you supposed to be one of the nice ones who converts all us unbelievers to The Way of The One? If so, your talents don’t seem to be equal to the task.
And you need to coordinate your message better because Stage 1 seems to be quite awkwardly overlapping Stage 2. It’s almost as embarrassing as when about three times in the same day Obama expressed different views about whether Iran was really a threat to the United States. I think that was around the same time he thought there were 57 states. Are you sure he isn’t older than McCain? He’s beginning to look it.
You really don’t seem to understand! I am an Obama supporter for my own reasons. All my colleagues at work are Obama supporters for their own reasons but we never sit in a circle, hold hands and collectively chant! I’m not trying to convert anyone - shouting at the wall is more productive! If you wanna vote Hillary, McCain or the Man in the Moon, I couldn’t care less. Obama likely will have the numbers by the time November comes around and, with luck, he’ll be the President and the country as a whole will make some progress.
I don’t have much time for your stages but about your foreign policy. Having lived in the Middle East, it’s refreshing to have a candidate whose idea of middle eastern diplomacy goes a little further than bombing the place or sending troops in. I know that doesn’t really sell back home, where 25% of voters can’t place Iraq on a map but I admire Obama’s foreign policies. They tend to be nuanced and not binary and absolutist.

So many good points . . but I’m a simple guy and basically I wonder if:
1. The tapes are non-existent lies fabricated to spread lies about Michelle’s stand on racial understanding and “change”
2. The tapes DO exist.
3. The transcripts of the tapes are wrong and incorrectly transcribed.

I dont know if this is a good definition, but for me only as BTD would say, I think of the term racist as someone who prejudges a group of people to have certain attributes based on the color of their skin or their cultural heritage. I would expand it lately though to go further and say attribution guilt and responsibility on an entire group for the actions of some is an extension of that and seems sort of pervasive in everything coming out of the spiritual advisers of Barack Obama..I dont think the person being racist needs to be a particular race themselves to be racist. I agree with you completely. Racism is just that prejudgment of someone by their skin color. I am a black woman and African Americans come in all skin colors. I am what they call Light Bright. That means I am so light I look White but yet I am not biracial like Obama I am simply black how is that because my parents are both very light with my mom being Light Bright too. I use that term because there are many shades of light even and Light Bright Damn near white is the shade that best describes me. I have kids who are black and ones who are “yellow” or “Brown”. There is a deep dividing line between the different colors in the Black community.

I’m going to have to strongly disagree with you here about 9/11. There are some huge holes in your argument.
First Hiroshima and Nagasaki were committed at the end of a long and brutal war. They were done to end the war quickly and prevent an estimated 100,000 American casualties and countless more Japanese casualties. In WWII all countries bombed civilian cities with the most powerful bombs they had. It was ugly, but that is war.
The second problem is that none of the 9/11 terrorists were Japanese. The terrorists have been more than willing to kidnap Japanese citizens in Iraq and have shown no sympathy toward Japan.
Israel is a far more complex issue. But let’s remember that the creation of Israel was by the United Nations, not the U.S. alone.

I have read many people defending the words of Wright, Pfleger, and Michelle Obama, as not being racist because they are “true” about the black experience in America.
But here’s the problem with people trying explain away ANY hate directed toward people of any color. You can say that it rings true for you, so maybe it’s not racism for a black person to say those things because it’s “their truth. Whites who say the same type of hateful things about blacks, which we’d all agree is racism, are speaking THEIR truth about being white in America. While it is true that the US dropped the nukes on Japan, killing 200,000 Japanese mostly civilians, and it was later found out that it could have possibly been avoided. Even after the 2 bombs had been dropped on Hiroshima(August 6) and Nagasaki(August 9)And the Soviets declaring war on them the same day, military leaders in Japan still did not want to surrender. It was only after the Emperor urged them to on August 14th that the Japanese Cabinet agreed to surrender. Even that morning the War Minister, Army Chief of Staff and Navy Chief of staff were still saying victory was possible. History revisionists claim it was done to intimidate the Soviets, but at that time, the Soviets were not much of a threat. Their best weapons were copies of ours. This was really a no win situation for everyone mainly because if Truman hadn’t used the bombs and they we did have to invade, he would have been blamed for every American death. The Japanese military rulers were convinced that the Japanese willingness to fight til the end would stop any invaders. What do you do in that situation…you make a very tough choice, and try to live with the result.

I’ve been following this thread and wanted to put my two cents in.
As a black woman, it seems to me that issues of race and gender have been in play since people with different physical characteristics first came into contact with each other.
Fortunately, people have also been intrigued with those differences as often as not.
There is no real reason for these differences to be obstacles unless they serve as excuses for people’s own sense of inadequacy.
Unfortunately, all too often we assume that recognition of difference is seen to be equal to perceptions of negativity.
Thus commenting on race becomes racism, reflections upon gender becomes sexism.
Even in the above quote from the Song of Solomon, the speaker (believed to be Sheba) seems to be making excuses for her blackness.
The bottom line is, everybody’s got a beef if they want to dwell on it.

I have a friend and she had a long term relationship with a wonderful guy who was very dark. Her parents were very light — descended from Irish and Black Slaves in the Caribbean Islands.

Now I’m a staunch supporter of McCain but I have to ask about this Obama camp. Where is this information coming from the Obama camp?! How do any of you know it’s coming from the Obama camp? First now there are TWO issued and spreading “transcripts”. No one knows which one to believe because there is no evidence either way. We now have Roger Stone who went on Hannity’s, great radio show, to spout out information is coming from the Hillary Campaign.
This is a problem for me because it contradicts what Larry and Susan are saying, which they heard it from the Republican camp and the GOP are going to drop the news.
How does Roger Stone promote a video he heard about and says comes from the Clinton camp, while Larry and Susan (Larry really), takes credit for breaking the news and says the GOP has it.
So we have TWO transcripts, TWO different camps have the single video.<—Another point of contention. How is there one video in this digital age?
Then there’s the delayed tidbit, like it’s a vanilla covered strawberry that Farrakhan is in the tape coming from Larry who heard it from his 5 sources who heard it themselves it seems.
Look, I don’t like people jerking my vote and making the voters into marionnette. This is NO GAME!! There are people who take their votes seriously and believe in journalistic integrity and writers ethics.
I guess I was far too dependent on my writers than I should have been. This goes for both ends. I have no proof on either end where it’s coming from. I don’t know if this tape is coming from GOP or Clinton on one end, and I don’t know if Obama’s people or the GOP/Clinton people are throwing around two alleged transcripts.
This is an insult to all voters this game that is being played not even by the candidate but by the media. And until there is proof and evidence—as in the tape—-this whole thing is a form of mass hysteria. The media, through blogging is turning into the biggest joke. I’m actually quite happy that this wasn’t spending too much time on any station in paticular FoxNews. It’s not worth investing in lies when there has been nothing but more jerking around.
This is just jerking the people around and until there is proof there is nothing. I’ll be sure to stay away since I can see that my interest in the site is not worth its time.

If the video shows her nodding in agreement, it is just as damning as if she had said the words herself. If the press won’t get answers to these questions, the leaders of the Democratic Party must, and they better be the right answers, because if this video turns out to be the October surprise that sinks Obama, they will be the ones who will be to blame.
Granted Barack Obama is the candidate, but when Eleanor Roosevelt became First Lady, a higher standard was set. Can you imagine, for example, Mrs. Roosevelt participating in a panel discussion in the 1930’s with a racist Southern Baptist preacher, and making sweeping negative statements about African-Americans?”? What if, in the 1980’s, Hillary Clinton had participated in a panel discussion with David Duke and had a few choice words of her own denigrating Black people and there was a video tape to prove it? So as this story unfolds (and it surely will) let’s keep our eyes on the real issue here. If it turns out Michelle Obama did not use the word “Whitey”, that’s not enough to let her off the hook. We need to know that she did not make racist remarks. We need to know that she did not sit silently by while others made racist remarks. We need to know that she conducted herself as a First Lady before doing so was required of her.

I disagree, and none of the current polling data supports your argument. Recent polls in California show a couple interesting things. Obama easily outpaces both Hillary and McCain. And there is absolutely no evidence that Clinton supporters are not supporting Obama. The scary exit polls that showed vast defections were largely taken in Kentucky and West Virginia — open primaries where Rush Limbaugh sent a whole lotta Republicans to vote for Hillary. And when those same voters were asked whom they would vote for in the GE? They said McCain. What they didn’t have to say is that they were going to vote for him no matter who the Dem nominee was. So I’d be careful with that urban legend.
Yes, things are getting a little hot right now. But McCain has had a free ride for nearly four months, and he’s still dead even with Obama and Hillary. I suspect he’ll have a difficult time of it when the press turns their attention his way. Heck. He already is.

Then what you are saying is that a black man should be denied something that he has earned - the nomination - because of the color of his skin. If Obama is denied the nomination despite having the most delegates, the Democratic Party will lose black voters PERMANENTLY, and therefore lose not only the Presidential election, but the Congress and Senate.

Votes are counted in various illegitimate ways.
But, the big reason in this election is that they were overtaken by Obama’s thugs who pushed, shoved, ignored, accosted, threatened, and threw out voters. They stole, destroyed, and forged paperwork. They committed every kind of fraud imaginable.
Texas is a prime example. Hillary won the legitimate primary, then Obama’s thugs stole the delegates. Over 2000 complaints were filed, even with the jammed phone lines.

putting aside whether or not there is a tape and if so what’s said on it, can I ask what would be so terrible about Michelle Obama appearing on a panel with Louis Farrakhan? I know the conventional wisdom has him akin to the anti-Christ but, as far as I know, it’s mainly based on him saying some terrible things about Judaism 20 or so years ago. If I remember correctly, people like Falwell, Pat Robertson, et al, have said some terrible things over the years (blaming 9/11 on homosexuality in America, etc.). Why is Farrakhan treated as if he’s the devil himself?
Also, a bit of hypocrisy here. Why is no one castigating Gov. Ed Rendell for appearing on a dais with Farrakhan in 1997 and praising him and the Nation of Islam effusively?

The only thing I can think of is that I pointed out that everybody has got a bias, and that it’s not in the Republicans’ best interest to give Obama time to prepare for it. I get what you’re saying but I think there’s more going on here. In that Pennsylvania debate, Hillary brought up Farrakhan as if the notion of Obama being even tangentially associated with him would be politically radioactive and repugnant. And yet her biggest supporter and surrogate in Pennsylvania, Gov. Ed Rendell, appeared with Farrakhan and praised him effusively. Why wasn’t Hillary outraged by that?

And the tone of many people here to the notion that Michelle Obama might have (gasp!) been seen with Farrakhan makes it seem like just that visual (absent even any “racist” remarks by her) would be political dynamite, the end of the campaign, the equivalent of being caught on tape cozying up to Charles Manson.

The grammar (Whitey do nothing about Jena.)?????? is consistent with ‘why’d he’, and is not consistent with ‘whitey’. That is a big clue as to what was really said.
And the second reason that this will not sink Obama is because, in the current political climate, even if she did use the word ‘whitey’ it just isn’t going to play out as THAT big of a deal. It is not the BOMBSHELL people were waiting for and expecting.
Father Pfleger’s comment went far beyond ‘whitey’ in my opinion, and Obama will survive them, as I said given the current political climate.

I’m not sure as to motive. Larry Johnson claims that someone in the Obama camp did this, but he has provided no evidence for that assertion.
