I learned over the weekend why the Republicans who have seen the tape of Michelle Obama ranting about “whitey” “STUNNING.” It features Michelle Obama and Louis Farrakhan. They are sitting on a panel at Jeremiah Wright’s Church when Michelle makes her intemperate remarks. Whoops!! When that image comes out it will enter the politcal ads hall of fame. It will be right up there with the little girl plucking daisy petals in the famous 1964 ad LBJ used against Barry Goldwater.
Barack may have quit his church but his religious problems are not over. Barack Obama has a Nation of Islam problem. Before Barack came on the scene, THE MAN in that political district was Louis Farrakhan. No one could take Alice Palmer’s seat without Farrakhan’s blessing. No one. I do not fault Barack Obama for seeking out the blessing of Farrakhan, but the story of what was done behind the scenes to get rid of Barack’s predecessor—Alice Palmer—has not been told. A knowledgeable source tells me that Tony Rezko played a direct role in this feat.
It also should come as no surprise that Barack hired two members of the Nation of Islam to work on his staff—Jennifer Mason and Cynthia K. Miller. If Jeremiah Wright and Michael Pfleger had kept their yaps buttoned none of this would mean much. But the fact that both men have been—until scrubbed from the website in recent weeks—listed as spiritual advisors to Barack Obama and also are very close to Louis Farrakhan, we begin to understand that the Nation of Islam has been a critical component of Barack Obama’s base of support. This is not guilt by association, this is guilt because of actual relationship. Farrakhan, Wright, and Pfleger are each on tape in various settings spewing the most vile racists garbage in the guise of preaching. Barack Obama, up to this point, has tried to pretend he had no idea that these men had these thoughts or said these things.
NONSENSE!! He knew and he knows. And the gig will be up when the Michelle tape hits the airwaves. I have received new information about how this tape was acquired. Let’s just say that one of the republican candidates who is no longer in the race but had a dandy oppo research capability uncovered this gem. If Republican poohbahs have their way the tape will remain on ice until October. But when it comes out, Barack will be permanently branded with the Nation of Islam. That’s not a winning platform in November.

Agreed. I was excited by news of the tape but now it just feels like a rumor with legs. This is the kind of shit Republicans did to Clinton when he was president. If the tape is real, why not just act reserved until you can show it? This is following, line-for-line, the trajectory of all those UFO videos people claim to have, with the tin-hatters happily chatting away on the boards about how they can’t wait to finally see proof of aliens, until some grainy, inconclusive tape shows up, if ever.
I fear you’re keeping rumors alive, Larry, not exposing the truth, until you can give *some* proof of the tape’s existence except “I heard it from some guys who know stuff”. My read on this is that Larry is getting played by the Republicans. These kinds of smears tend to have some blowback on the smearer, even if true. By getting it out through a pro-Clinton site the Republicans keep their hands clean.
This is true even if there is a tape (I’m skeptical), but it is 1000% more true if there is no tape. In that scenario both Clinton and Obama will have suffered (Obama through a false smear; Clinton by association with her supporters who pressed that smear).
I would say this reading is reinforced by the fact that Larry’s sources are apparently Republican operatives. What incentive would those operatives have to tease this now? Wouldn’t they be better off holding their cards close to the vest until at least August, perhaps even later? The only reason I can think of is that they don’t want the blowback (which could be severe if this turns out to be a bogus story).
Show the tape, or identify by name and organization your sources, or shut up.

Very sadly true. I was very hurt when it was okay to say horrible things about soldiers in general there too. When the rain came outside a Washington D.C. hotel Saturday afternoon, they did not run and hide their heads.
Unlike the refrain in the Beatles’ song, they did not rather they were dead.
When the rain came, they stood their ground and, looking very much alive and well, shouted “Count every vote” and “This is what a feminist looks like.”
The protestors, mostly women, knew that when it rains it shines – but only if you refuse to let a stretch of bad weather drive you deep into the shelter of a party that would rather exclude you anyway.
This party is the Democratic Party and Saturday’s meeting of its pompous rules and bylaws committee did more to dampen support for the mainstream party than any Republican ever could.
The party elite told the protestors, by and large Democrats, that they would decide what is best for them.
The protestors explained that they were not slaves and would decide their lives for themselves. By that they meant that they would also decide the party’s future. By that they meant they just might quit.
“I didn’t quit my party,” one young woman later explained. “My party quit me.”
Without them, many analysts believe the Democrats cannot win the White House in November. Without them, Democrats will rally around a flawed candidate who will further divide the party into the haves and the have-nots. Without them, the party will go down in females, rather than in flames.
Men have aligned themselves with the protest as well.
I, too, stood in the rain.
Joining in the common cause, I, too, threw my voice at the universe.
“This is what a feminist looks like,” I howled.
Nobody questioned my support for equality. No one doubted my resolve to stand in support of Hillary Clinton, the strongest candidate among all those who campaigned – including Barack Obama, John Edwards, Bill Richardson, Joe Biden and the rest - to win the nomination to represent Democrats against the Republican war machine.
Now only two remain - Hillary the white woman and Barack the black man.
The protestors believe now more than ever that the deck has been stacked all along in Barack’s favor. A combination of white liberal guilt, money, power, deceit and sleazy Chicago politics helped Barack buy his way into the process.
The party bosses must know that their man will likely lose.
So why support him to the end?
That remains the most troubling unanswered question.
What is known, though, is that many Hillary supporters, mostly women who have been loyal to the party all their lives, feel abandoned. Abused by a disloyal party whose leadership is made up mostly of men, they have finally had enough.
The separation is about to commence.
And the divorce will be messy.
But when the split is complete, their freedom of choice, the liberation of walking out, will renew their strength in themselves.
Even if Barack becomes the nominee – and I’m not convinced that will happen – these protestors will know forever that they have power they never before experienced. The power to say no constitutes freedom in the face of a society that expects you to say yes.
No means no – even in the political arena.
Time has almost run out for party bosses. But they still can change - even the women among them who continue to do the bidding of men who promise them everything but never deliver.
Men ands women superdelegates can still admit that Hillary is the best person for the job as she fights on until the national party convention in August in Denver.
Once there, the bosses can award her the nomination. If they do, the Democrats are closer to equality than ever. If they don’t, the great gender divide gets wider.
Standing in the rain outside the hotel on Saturday, a critic couldn’t help but sense the power of believing in a principle.
Truth is as principled as it gets.
And the truth sometimes hurts.

My read on this is that Larry is getting played by the Republicans. These kinds of smears tend to have some blowback on the smearer, especially if they don’t stand up to daylight. By getting it out through a pro-Clinton site the Republicans keep their hands clean.
This is true even if there is a tape, but it is 1000% more true if there is no tape. In that scenario both Clinton and Obama will have suffered damage (Obama through a false smear; Clinton by association with her supporters who pressed that smear).
I would say this reading is reinforced by the fact that Larry’s sources are apparently Republican operatives. What incentive would those operatives have to tease this now? Wouldn’t they be better off holding their cards close to the vest until at least August, perhaps even later? As I said in another comment, I knew Larry was not promising to release the videotape. Still, I wish he had more to say about the content.
I was in DC at the Hotel where the DNC met to have a high tech Rape of Hillary Clinton. The DNC told me personally that there would be a few seats set aside for same day seating in the (Thurman C Marshall Ballroom…not the Alice Paul Room I might note!) hotel but they would be limited and you had to get there early. So I did. I was in line by 5:30 AM. As were others. I was number 15. We all stood there until 10:30 AM and then a DNC spokesperson (after we were given the republican run around for 5 hours) came and said we could not get in. We were told by some Obama people in the know that the Obama campaign was given 125 credentials for Obama people. Clintons got none. But I guess the DNC had to make sure that Obama would be able to outnumber the Clinton supporters in the hearing room. Goodbye Democratic Party. The Clinton people in the line were so pissed off as to be lost to Obama in the fall if the fool gets nominated. Obama people were shocked to realize that we Clinton people were not going to fall in line behind Obama. They just think if you are for Clinton, you must be a racist. I seem to recall Dr. King saying that he dreams of a day when all people are judged by the content of their character not the color of their skin. Well I am judging Obama on the content of his character. And I don’t like his character. HELLOOOOO!!!! Some people have a character that is flawed, even if they are black. A commenter over on Taylor Marsh has mentioned that Neil Cavuto is supposed to be releasing a bombshell on Fox News today at 3 pm eastern time. I don’t know what this is about and the commenter didn’t source this information. It could pertain to Larry’s story or be about something else entirely, or just a rumor. Cannonfire reports the rumor that ABC News has this tape. Also, no sourcing. And let’s not forget that they were talking about this tape on Fox yesterday. So this is not just something Larry is reporting, it’s out there.
Personally, I hate Swiftboating. But this is something different. Swiftboating is about making untrue inferences, such as with the Dukakis situation. Or getting people to swear that something untrue happened, as with the Swiftboat veterans. But showing a tape that is true and accurately reflects someone’s beliefs is not Swiftboating, it’s doing actual vetting that should have been done months ago. We have all seen the crowd of racists and corrupt political fixers that are in Obama’s orbit. The fact that there may be a tape that connects those dots is a relief. If we had a real press, they would have been doing this already, much as the dots were connected to Richard Nixon so long ago.
Here’s the deal, folks. Your candidate Hillary Clinton will concede the race by the end of the week. She will then become the biggest Obama supporter you’ve ever seen. It will be an Obama-Clinton lovefest for the rest of the summer, with each singing the other’s praises. So, you can continue to hate on the black candidate until November if you like, and go ahead and vote for John McCain. Judging from many of your posts here, you all would probably find a better home in the Republican party. There will be more than enough rational Republicans defecting from their party to vote for Obama in the fall to make up for the loss. We don’t need you. Good riddance.
Why do you feel the need to keep bringing up Obama’s race. Those of us here that post on a egular, if not daily, basis don’t make that an issue. The issue is his lack of experience, his shady character, his political and religious bedfellows from Chicago and his overwhelming Bush-like arrogance and nastiness during this primary.
Obama=Bush Plain and simple.
My read on this is that Larry is getting played by the Republicans. These kinds of smears tend to have some blowback on the smearer. By getting it out through a pro-Clinton site the Republicans keep their hands clean.
This is true even if there is a tape (I’m skeptical, but feel free to prove me wrong), but it is 1000% more true if there is no tape. In that scenario both Clinton and Obama will have suffered (Obama through a false smear; Clinton by association with her supporters who pressed that smear).
I would say this reading is reinforced by the fact that Larry’s sources are apparently Republican operatives. What incentive would those operatives have to tease this now? Wouldn’t they be better off holding their cards close to the vest until at least August, perhaps even later? The only reason I can think of is that they don’t want the blowback (which could be severe if this turns out to be a bogus story).
Susan, are you freaking kidding me? His take IS THE STORY? no its, not, only the tape itself would be the story, even then its a long shot, not tape, no story. Larry Johnson’s telling of it is good for about 30 people on this blog, nothing else unless there is a tape to be shown, where is it? Who has it? Why does noone seems to have it or have talked to someone who has seen it? I CALL BULLSHIT, AND I”M AN HRC SUPPORTER ALL THE WAY!
