Obama Has Another Farrakhan Problem (and a New Preacher Problem)

Barack Obama has a Farrakhan problem — and YET ANOTHER PREACHER PROBLEM. Here is a screenshot of his website’s Faith page:

DNC Member and Illinois superdelegate Rev. Willie Barrow is a LONGTIME, dear friend of Barack Obama. She is a member of his Faith Outreach Team. Barrow has known Obama for many years, and she has met his children and his wife. Obama, according to Barrow, also attended many of her broadcasts.

Rev. Willie Barrow is also a close friend of Louis Farrakhan, anti-Semitic leader of the controversial Nation of Islam. In fact, Barrow shares many of Farrakhan’s viewpoints. She is also an unapologetic defender of the anti-Semitic and homophobic Nation of Islam leader. But she is also a member of Obama’s Faith Outreach Team. This raises questions about Obama’s faith and about his campaign’s choice of leadership. Should a President have close Farrakhan allies on his campaign’s leadership team? Does Obama’s Faith Outreach involve anti-Semitism and homophobia? Is this another actor in the Donnie McClurkin, Reverend “God Damn America” Jeremiah Wright, Reverend Moss, Reverend Meeks and Father Pfleger show of freaks from inner city Chicago?

Barrow is a staunch Farrakhan ally. In 2006 she condemned four members who resigned from the Illinois state Hate Crimes Commission she chairs. The four members who resigned are Jewish, and all four resigned as a result of Governor Blagojevich’s refusal to remove Sister Claudette Muhammad, Minister of Protocal of the hateful National of Islam, from the Hate Crimes Commission. Serving with a Farrakhan ally on a Hate Crimes Board was impossible for the four members.

All four commissioners who have resigned are Jewish. They include Lonnie Nasatir of the Anti-Defamation League, Richard Hirschhaut of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, Illinois State Rep. Lou Lang (D-Skokie), and Howard Kaplan of the Jewish Federation.

Michael Kotzin, also of the Jewish Federation, said the trigger was Farrakhan’s speech last Sunday referring to “wicked Jews” whom he accused of running Hollywood, controlling Congress and destroying America.

“(Farrakhan is) just using traditional bigotry, traditional anti-Semitism,” Kotzin said, “and we have sadly learned the impact of those kinds of words, what’s followed from those kinds of words through the centuries.”

Kotzin added, “The bulk of our community feels in our guts what’s going on and what this kind of language, what hate language is all about and how dangerous and damaging it can be.”.

Their reasons seem justified. How can one serve on a Hate Crimes Commission with someone who serves as Minister of Protocol for an organization that issues anti-Semitic hate speech on a regular basis?

Obama ally and Faith Advisor Rev. Barrow did not care. She thought someone who aids and abets Farrakhan’s anti-Semitic hate speech should serve on a Hate Crimes Commission.

At a Black Women’s Expo event, Barrow had little sympathy for the four members of the Hate Crimes Commission she chairs, all of whom resigned this week because Gov. Rod Blagojevich refused to kick Sister Claudette Muhammad off the panel.

Muhammad serves as minister of protocol for Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam.

“Not only should (Muhammad) continue to serve on the commission, but, I think those that resigned because they disagree, what have they done to bring about an agreement?” Barrow said.

According to Barrow, victims of hate speech should “bring about an agreement[.]” They need to learn to tolerate the hate speech of Farrakhan. They need to accept that hate speech will be condoned by a Hate Crimes Commission that allows members of the National of Islam to serve. Barrow had no sympathy for Jews who were offended by anti-Semitic speech.

Barrow defends Farrakhan, because Barrow shares many of his spiritual and political views. According to an interview Chicago reporters had with Farrakhan after his “Prayer for Peace for the New Century and Millennium” on December 22, 1999, he met with Barrow in order to discuss the Nation of Islam’s program.

For first address to our community and the world on February 24-27, I will tell you where we are going and it will give you insight into what changes Allah (God) has made and is making in me. We will be dealing with family. As Mother Reverend Willie Barrow said in a meeting with us yesterday, in conclusion, it is not that we are as divided as we think we are.

Obama ally and advisor Barrow joined hands with the anti-Semitic leader in 1999, choosing not to separate herself from the divisive, controversial anti-Semite who regularly issues hate speech against Jews and other communities. Barrow collaborates with the anti-Semite, which may explain why seven years later she had no sympathy for Jews who did not think it was appropriate for a Farrakhan ally to serve on a Hate Crimes Commission.

Obama ally and advisor Rev. Barrow has deep and lasting ties to Farrakhan. She is quoted in a 1985 article of the Washington Post saying the following:

“I love my brother, Minister Louis Farrakhan. The devil don’t like it, Chicago don’t like it, the world don’t like it, but we love it.”

Obama ally and advisor Barrow, member of Obama’s Faith Outreach Committee, approves of the following anti-Semitic and homophobic speech:

Obama ally and advisor Barrow believes people who work for Farrakhan should serve on Hate Crimes Commissions, even if Chicago don’t like it and the “devil” don’t like it. Is this change we should believe in? Are these the types of people Obama would appoint to his cabinet or to the bench?

This is more bad judgment of Obama. He has deep ties to the Nation of Islam, and his allies are defenders of anti-Semite and raging homophobe Farrakhan.

Barrow is a superdelegate from Illinois, and she will not surprisingly cast her vote for Obama. She should not serve on the Faith Outreach Committee. A defender of Farrakhan, an anti-Semite and homophobe who issues hate speech on a regular basis, she does not represent what is positive about America. Even the “devil don’t like it.”

When you go to the Obama website (which I’m pretty sure that Typhensentra didn’t bother to do ….) here are her comments:

real man. He is a Christian, husband and father. I remember he would consistently attend our Saturday morning broadcasts with his two little girls long before I ever met his wife Michelle. Universal healthcare, employment and education are the primary issues for me. Our children are not going to school and not graduating. The state is closing schools and opening jails. I think that people of faith have to broaden their ministries outside the walls of the church. Anyone can sing in the choir or serve on the deacon board but how many know the level of unemployment in their community or the number of people losing their homes?

I am just wondering where she gets her information from. States don’t close schools, school boards vote to close schools due to lack of attendance. Her riff is one more example of people refusing to take responsibility for their own actions. Pretty sad stuff there.

Comment by roger, too | 2008-06-03 08:29:24

States don’t close schools, school boards vote to close schools due to lack of attendance.

And in IL, this is due to men like Rezko, through guys like Obama, stealing taxpayer monies to enrich themselves, and their cronies.

Last I read, vital government services concerned with the long term care of disabled veterans had been affected, hospital beds remaining empty because money isn’t available to fund staffing.

I did yesterday. And I tried to call Senator Levin’s office, but no answer [I live in Michigan]. I live in Michigan, and Fitzpatrick is a super delegate, too. I called Senator Levin’s office to inquire regarding any requirements or restrictions applying to super delegates, but no answer. Are there any?

He’ll be doing that soon enough after the Republicans get done with him.

Comment by mimi | 2008-06-03 10:31:58

Excuse me, but you’d be wise to let that go. Most black men in a America went or supported the Million Man March. Even blacks who Don’t support Obama. This march was about other things and not Farrakahn’s usual politics.

All I’m saying is I’d leave the Million Man March out of it. You’ll defeat your core argument with regard to Obama and his connection to Farrakahn which is about more than that march.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-06-03 10:52:56

mimi — I respectfully disagree. Do you think Farahkan set up that Million man march to help his people? This was done to get recruits. He has now relaunched The Black Panther Party–a very dangerous group. Wright’s church is also said to have done good things for its members. However, this is a cabal of hate and no amount of good works can cover this up.

Comment by Jj | 2008-06-06 08:08:50

Obama helped him setup the million man march, along with Wright and Jesse Jackson. The Nation of Islam has been lying to and using the black community for years now, they have fueled the hatred towards whites, America, and jews, and with the dangers that Israel faces right now and us being stretched thin, it would be reckless to have a President who has been groomed with those beliefs and has a very close connection to them.

First he has to beat a conviction for embezzlement of public funds. That might hurt senate confirmation…

Hmm, back to the chalk board…

This hate, ugliness, and divisiveness has some similarities to a civil war.
There hasn’t been this much divisiveness in this country since the Civil War. At least, under Bush, it was mostly the administration against the majority of the people. Everyone I know hated him. Maybe because I’m from NE, but I felt I could safely trash Bush with anyone, without them being offended. Now some of my friends are not my friends any more. And Obama supporters have become so nasty.

Doubt has been cast on Larry Johnson’s reporting the existence of a video of Michelle Obama using “whitey” while sitting with Farrakhan. Only a few minutes ago, the aide of a senior contact in the Democratic party emailed me - that a politician accross the political isle, has verified having viewed the video with Karl Rove. I was told that the release will devastate the Obama campaign. All GOP needs now is DNC to nominate Obama as the Presidential Candidate. If that happens, my contact tells that the video will be released first days of October.

Unless I, along with a few others, am the victim of some massive disinformation campaign, the tape clearly exist. Maybe someone should ask Rove. He can’t legally deny it outright.

Always take everything anyone says with a grian of salt. But having said that, Larry is an analyst, CIA trained, and it shows in his writing, and thinking. No matter his agenda, his credibility is his currency. I respect political differences, but “covert” buffoons, playing operative, ala K** and others shilling for Obama, or McCain, are laughable.

The blogger boys strive to write complex paragraphs, and even those are a ghost, written by some unthinking mediocrity, paid by a thrid rate PR company, contracted by Obama’s campaign.

It shows.

This cannot run the US government.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-06-03 09:18:39

Larry is no lightweight and the trolls that are hitting this blog know it. He would never say this if he weren’t sure. In addition, there have been people on TV who have also verified its existence. It’s just too darned bad Hillary doesn’t have it. Or does she?

Comment by s. hall | 2008-06-03 10:09:54

It has something to do with Michelle Obama. Beckel wouldn’t say anything more other than this explosive story may happen tomorrow. Yes. This is from Freerepublic

If any of you had the opportunity to watch Fox & FRiends this morning, you probably saw Bob Beckel being interviewed about todays political events.

Towards the end of the interview he announced to the Fox & FRiends hosts that he has been told by numerous people,(enough and in a way that convinced him) that a bombshell will be dropping tomorrow about Michele Obama.

The Friends turned white and asked what it might be…was it worse than a college thesis? Bob said—Oh yes, in a BIG way. He said that the Repubs were behind it and it was dumb because it meant that Mrs. Clinton would be the nominee.

So the die is cast, IMHO Hillary will suspend her campaign within the next 24 hours and then the bomb will drop, leaving the Republics to take the blame.

Beckel said that this will make Hillary the candidate. Whatever is on that tape (if it is a tape)it must be a beaut.

I would also LOVE to know more about Farrakhan’s financial dealings with Qaddafi, and other middle eastern terror group leaders, and financiers.

And personally, it’s not THAT much of a stretch to think some of this money ends up supporting groups who are fighting American men and women, our soldiers, in Iraq, and elsewhere.

I’d be really mad.

I hope someone is investigating, and I’m sure, they are…

the Rebugs and others already have an archive of all the windows from the Obama’s site. it is a work in progress, like 1984 when things r updated and changed daily with additions and scrubs.

I hear the republicans play a “futures” game on which week the New Black Panters site will be put back up over at Barky’s place. Up. Down. Up. Down.

Is Rev. Meeks destined to go under the Obama bus?

In a matter of weeks, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) has thrown two of his spiritual advisers and his church under the bus: his former pastor and spiritual adviser, Rev. Jeremiah Wright; Father Michael Pfleger, pastor of Chicago’s St. Sabina Roman Catholic Church; and his Chicago church, Trinity United Church of Christ, which includes between 8,000 and 10,000 fellow congregants, as well as his new pastor, Rev. Otis Moss III. They had become politically inconvenient. Possibly awaiting similar treatment is Sen. Obama’s third spiritual adviser, Rev. James Meeks, pastor of Chicago’s Salem Baptist Church.

During an April 5, 2004, interview about his faith with the Chicago Tribune’s Cathleen Falsani, Sen. Obama described Rev. Wright as “a close confidant” and Father Pleger, “who has known Obama for the better part of 20 years”, as someone who helps him keep his “compass set.”

During the same interview, Sen. Obama said that Rev. Meeks was another person he sought out for spiritual counsel. In fact, Obama said that the day after he won the Illinois Democratic senatorial primary on March 16, 2004, he “stopped by Salem for Wednesday-night Bible study.”

Rev. Meeks better watch his back, the bus may well be on its way. Why, you ask?

From Associated Press this morning - “Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe said Tuesday that once Obama gets the majority of convention delegates, ‘I think Hillary Clinton will congratulate him and call him the nominee.’”

Still trying to keep voter turnout down troll?

“convention delegates” meaning at the convention. The MSM is taking that out of context. He did say “convention delegates.”

Nice try troll but no cigar.

This video shows what is really happening.

Hillary is not conceding this week. Also click here if you need more proof.

There appears to be two or more “open minds” here and I apologize if this one is not the troll one. Thanks!

You are in Clinton Country. We KNOW how open your mind is.

Your use of quotations marks is a lie, that is NOT what he said at all. Get the “IF” “NUMBERS” words in there and take out a few too… you obamarat.

Karma is just around the bend. Do the right thing.

John Fund just said on the Laura Inghram show that a tape my hit this week about Michelle Obama.

Probably from a Rainbow Operation Push rountable featuring Farakkhan, Fund said Beckel said on Fox. Fund from the WSJ said that the words are a bit ambiguous but that it won’t be helpful to Obama.

Now, I’m starting to believe about this tape. Fund corrects Babin and says that Hillary may win one of the states tonight. He thinks that Hillary will wait a few more days, and will warn the SD that the Repubs will chew up Obama.

Makes total sense to me. Killer oppo research involves looking at hours and hours of tape, including those of the most obscure events. The Republicans can pay the best people in the business. Most people would think “Rainbow Operation Push” - nah, I won’t look at that one. Nothing to see.

Aha a fellow PUMA out for a stroll.

question Arabella, since there is tape out there somewhere why doesn’t the Clinton campaign have it? Or do they and know that if they use it the Obamacrats will have one of their patented conniption fits and media will parrot Obamacratic talking points like they did the RFK fauxoutrage?
