Breaking News from HillBUZZ

COMMENTS CLOSED. GO TO SECOND THREAD.

I am not trying to steal thunder from HillBuzz. That blogger is breaking important news. I’m posting the article in full because, having seen what happened to our site, a link to his will kill his server with the flood of traffic. Until Sunday, I was operating on one server. We’re up to four and barely keeping pace. HillBuzz writes at http://hillbuzz.blogspot.com/

What’s on the Michelle Obama Rant Tape?
Here’s what’s known so far:

The Michelle Obama Rant Tape was filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women’s Event.

Michelle Obama appeared as a panelist alongside Mrs. Khadijah Farrakhan and Mrs. James Meeks.

Bill Clinton spoke during the Conference, as did Bill Cosby and other speakers, but not at the panel Michelle attended.

Michelle Obama spoke at the Women’s Event, but referenced Bill Clinton in her rant — his presence at the conference was the impetus for her raving, it seems.

For about 30 minutes, Michelle Obama launched into a rant about the evils of America, and how America is to blame for the problems of Africa. Michelle personally blamed President Clinton for the deaths of millions of Africans and said America is responsible for the genocide of the Tutsis and other ethnic groups. She then launched into an attack on “whitey”, and talked about solutions to black on black crime in the realm of diverting those actions onto white America. Her rant was fueled by the crowd: they reacted strongly to what she said, so she got more passionate and enraged, and that’s when she completely loses it and says things that have made the mouths drop of everyone who’s seen this.

The “tape” is a DVD that Trinity United sold on its website, and possibly offered free for download up until March 2008 when Trinity’s site was scrubbed and the DVDs were no longer offered for sale.

This outburst happened just one month before the 2004 Democratic Convention, when Barack Obama delivered the keynote address.

So there should be a ton of these around, shouldn’t there?

Let’s see one, Larry. C’mon!

Comment by Larry Johnson | 2008-06-04 03:35:53

Actually, I may be able to satisfy that request based on what I have learned in the last hour. Send me your phone number and I’ll be sure to call you and alert you so that you can be one of the first to enjoy.

I’m praying you’re right Larry. I believe in your good work. thank you for giving us rational, reasonable dems a supportive environment to hang on to our sanity. I hope this tape is real and that it gets out on the MSM. my worry is the koolaid drinkers could watch Obama kill defenseless puppies live in front of them and they wouldn’t care.

Comment by Stray | 2008-06-04 03:54:57

I think your right. And I think thats the change he has in mind for allot of us.

Comment by Jen | 2008-06-04 07:53:26

Is it coming out today Larry?

I’m impatient :(

I got up at 8:30 AM to find news on it.

Comment by C. S. | 2008-06-04 07:59:17

I certainly hope you can find that tape because it feels like we’re having a deja vu election! The game’s the same only the face of the “winner” has been changed. I’m positive there will be another Supreme Court “decision” if Senator Clinton somehow slips through the superdelegate net and becomes the Democratic nominee.

Just like the obfuscation during the 2000 election that gave that election to GWB, we KNOW the evidence of the Obamas’ true character is hidden out there and we need to find it before August to prevent another national disaster.

Larry I am so glad you have this site, I had been blogging since blogging began but my site sits empty because so much has changed on the internet and I can’t handle it. Thanks for putting up with all the craziness for all of us. I hope this tape come out soon. Hillary is too smart to be his VP, what a slap in the face to women everywhere it would be… she is better qualified but he won on a technicallity. Obama stole the nomination with the DNC help, my heart broke when Maxine Waters switched. But Donna told the black caucus they could decide the nomianation. John McCain has won my vote, his warm words for Hillary are enough for me, even if he is just trying to get my vote. Obama hasn’t even tried. I like John McCain, I almost wish Hillary would be his VP and they compromise instead of playing politics. Back in the good old day the one with the most votes was President and the won who came in second was VP. I wouldn’t enjoy a Hillary - Obama ticket but maybe a Hillary McCain ticket. I like McCain, I don’t always agree with him but I like him.

Now, today, is the day the tape should come out,, no later, if there is a tape. Come on, what is the issue regarding it’s release, why wait ?

great to see you back up again, Larry.
Yesterday was rough.

Comment by Sam | 2008-06-04 03:36:03

But Larry, where is Hillbuzz’s evidence for this claim? There is so much detail in their post, that it seems the info is coming from somewhere, but from where? There is NO source mentioned…

Also, if it is a tape readily available from TUCC’s website, shouldn’t someone have it by now? My impression was that it is so hard to get because it was taped by NOI guards and not readily available through church sales…

What is your take on their lack of sourcing? Does their info correspond with what you are getting from your people?

Comment by Larry Johnson | 2008-06-04 03:36:43

Comment by Sam | 2008-06-04 03:42:00

Hah. Thanks for the reminder Larry. If this exists, I just hope it gets out sooner rather than later….if Hillbuzz’s description is accurate…I am not sure my jaw will ever close…

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-04 03:49:12

Sounds like somebody was willing to take the time to listen to all that tripe TUCC had for sale and for free on their site.

Comment by Sam | 2008-06-04 03:54:03

But someone would have already had to be in possession of the tapes since they took everything off the site in March. I wonder if HillBuzz had access to the tapes already and then did some research for anything involving the NOI. Whoever was filling in for Ingram this morning mentioned that it was on a panel with Mrs. Farrakahn, not her husband, so maybe that was the crucial clue needed last night for the Hillbuzz folks to go find it…

Can’t wait to see what Larry comes up with…

Comment by Mark | 2008-06-04 04:40:34

You can see archived pages of the Trinity United website at the wayback machine. I didn’t see any evidence of such DVDs for sale.

I keep waiting for something, anything, to corroborate Larry’s claims …

I think we’re all going to have to pick our jaws off the floor. I much as I dont’ think Obama is a good prez - if the description is true - it is truly saddening. I knew she was angry and practiced BLT - but that much hatred against another race is pretty demoralizing, and from someone who has benefited so much from the opportunities in this country, it is very sad.

Larry,
When you say “patience” I’m willing to trust you. From what little I know about you (through the Hillary Clinton Forum) you seem to have the background and experience to know what you’re talking about.

And, I’ve learned over the years that “patience” is a virtue…for sure.

Comment by It's Not Me | 2008-06-04 07:30:55

If you can trust anyone? It’s Larry. If he says something, know it’s true. ;) That’s why I’m here. There’s few people I trust more.

Comment by Nag | 2008-06-04 08:27:51

I once remarked to a Kindergarten teacher how much patience she had. She told me that patience is NOT a virtue, it’s a learned skill. She was right. I’m still bad at having patience, but I guess we have no choice. All the hoopla on tv this morning about how he is the presumptive nominee… CNN should be announcing Obama’s sainthood by noon or so, they’re just gushing over him. Let him have the moment. I’m afraid it’s as close as he’ll come to the White House.

“Also, if it is a tape readily available from TUCC’s website, shouldn’t someone have it by now?”

You’d think… But how long did it take for the Rev Wright story to break? Would the media ever even have reported on it, even having viewed the tapes, if they hadn’t been forced to? Undoubtedly the networks have this footage already. They’ll play stupid up until it airs, then pretend they didn’t know about it. But this won’t be so easy for them to cover up.

Comment by annie | 2008-06-04 04:08:44

I think the notion that the media is waiting til after the Dem Conv is correct. Fox probably has it & is holding tight. I caught a few minutes of McCains speech tonite & thought he was trying to win over Hillary’s supporters.

Comment by sisterdo | 2008-06-04 04:51:13

If he’s trying to win Hillary supporters– this would do it.

My jaw is already dropping. It sure sounds real, if it is the GOP could keep Obama from ever getting off the floor he’s on.

Right now, the media wants to parade him around, and prop him up like a God again. They’re dying to coronate him.

Well, this little nugget–if this is what it is–would keep Obama the God-Man-King from ever re-emerging.

Comment by Maryann | 2008-06-04 05:32:55

I agree with Annie - I listened to McCain last night and thought he was directly speaking to Hillary supoorters but I pray this tape comes out today as it has been mentioned so Hillary can still be the nominee !!!

Comment by mr. natural | 2008-06-04 06:15:42

I caught a few minutes of McCains speech tonite & thought he was trying to win over Hillary’s supporters.

He didn’t call us liars, losers, *ssh*les, or even delusional, confused racists. Not only that but he didn’t lecture us about our bitterness, our guns, or the current O’Bot favorite, the five stages of grief.

Comment by beebop | 2008-06-04 07:44:41

Comment by jcz | 2008-06-04 07:59:41

the details on the site sound very accurate

esp. the reference to Bill Clinton being the trigger
Clinton is really reviled among the hard-left, whereas Bush’s inanity was almost expected, and not ‘worthy’ of an emotional outburst..

if true, Obama will have to drop out

because if blaming whites for killing millions in Africa isn’t the jaw dropping part, well…

it must be really bad.

Comment by POdVet | 2008-06-04 03:37:28

John McCain from his speech last night

“Senator Clinton has earned great respect for her tenacity and courage. The media often overlooked how compassionately she spoke to the concerns and dreams of millions of Americans, and she deserves a lot more appreciation than she sometimes received. As the father of three daughters, I owe her a debt for inspiring millions of women to believe there is no opportunity in this great country beyond their reach. I am proud to call her my friend. Pundits and party elders have declared that Senator Obama will be my opponent.”

He just took a few million voters from Mr Obama right there. And if he reminds people that in 1995 Obama made over $1.5 million but did NOT donate one dime of his own money to Katrina relief, the election is already over.

Comment by so saddened | 2008-06-04 03:43:02

i LOVE the quote that “pundits and party elders have declared” - mccain knows that it isn’t true, just that they’re declared it to be.

agree re obama’s lack of donations (2005?) - can’t wait for the 527 re that - also, he gave a LOT of money to his pal wright’s church last year, but pretty much nothing to any other charity. and wright’s church shouldn’t legally qualify as a charity, given the violation of tax laws, and certainly doesn’t pass the moral smell test. odds are obambi’s contributions were funneled to wright’s new mansion or some other inappropriate use.

the hypocrisy of the obamas telling people to work in service type jobs, etc., to give back to the community, etc., but they’re all about what they can get and they give nothing.

Comment by Stray | 2008-06-04 04:09:50

It sure sounds like McCain has some empathy — a hell of a lot more than snObama.

There is just NO way I’d vote for snObama — I intensely hate sexist jerks and that’s what snObama is — a sexist jerk.

We already know that snObama is willing to SAY anything in order to get fools to vote for him. NAFTA & Canada & Ohio — for example. So his word is useless and his deeds are dirty (his Mansion, for example).

McCain is a loyal American — snObama is NOT. That’s the bottom line.

Comment by It's Not Me | 2008-06-04 07:38:00

It’s pretty damn sad when a Republican has more respect for Hillary than her own Democratic Party. Man, did they open my eyes during this Primary. NEVER AGAIN. The Democratic Party is no longer my Party.

I still can’t believe how badly they treated Hillary. I hope she tells them to shove it and leaves the party. OR fight to the convention. That’ll REALLY piss ‘em off! They deserve to have their crap shoved right back in their face.

Comment by ScottVA | 2008-06-04 07:41:37

Ditto! I have no problem voting for him (McCain) if Hillary is truly screwed out of the nomination! Anything to see a Fracture in the Party and to serve a can of whoop as to El TurdO! LOL

Comment by joe | 2008-06-04 08:31:02

Q: “How do we beat the bitch”

McCain: *laughs*

Yeah, Obama’s the sexist. WTF?

Comment by Steve | 2008-06-04 04:09:34

John McCain is a good man. He’s built his career on compromise. That’s why a lot of conservatives hate him - because he actually likes to do the right thing and not just tow the party line. Come November, I will be able to cast my vote for him without regret. It’ll be the first Republican vote I’ve cast since 1992, when I foolishly voted for Bush I’s re-election. The Clintons brought me into the Democratic party, and the way they’ve been treated has brought me close to leaving it again.

Comment by sisterdo | 2008-06-04 04:45:22

IF this horror is in any way true, even though I haven’t done it so far, I would sign up immediately with John McCain’s website and start donating money–Obama would need to be stopped.

The media is determined to hand us these two, with all my heart I have never been more ashamed of the elitists in this party and our propagandists in the media for pushing this unvetted, America hating pair onto our great country to sow division everywhere they go.

I appreciate McCain’s remarks, well, Obama is not just unqualified, he hates this place too. The Democratic Party must not be rewarded for this.

IF this tape exists, McCain would get a money infusion like never before.

Comment by Susan | 2008-06-04 05:02:14

I agree - as soon as I am sure Clinton is out of it for good, I will be donating to McCain, and I encourage everyone else to donate - even if only $5. As a frequent small contributor to HRC, I am sure somewhere the DNC tracks these donations, and it will be enlightening for them to see the HRC supporters put their money where there mouth is in regard to supporting McCain instead of Obama.

Comment by Michael Oaks | 2008-06-04 07:17:15

I’m sure that Lanny Davis has seen the tape, even has a copy, don’t you?? I believe that this is what is meant by patience. Don’t you think that the campaign powers that be, are giving private showings to the super delegates via laptops?? I think we will see a rash of shifts from the SDs in the next week. When Axelrod was being interviews last night in Minnesota he made a Freudian slip when talking about Obama and his having the required no of votes for the nomination: He began with Obama is the “punitive” nominee, and quickly
changed the gaff to “presumptive” nominee. Ummmmmh! What could he have had on his mind.

Comment by It's Not Me | 2008-06-04 07:42:56

If this is true, and I believe it IS, the Super Delegates will FLOCK to Hillary faster than you can say racist. TRUST ME. This video will DESTROY BO’s campaign and SDs are free to change their minds until they cast their votes at the convention…that’s why BO isn’t REALLY the Democratic nominee. ONLY in his own mind is he the Dem nominee. He’ll be finished after this video comes out.:)

He visited Bill Clinton’s efforts, wrote on his website Bill Clinton was doing a great job.

No kidding the man’s been raising money and building better houses with Brad Pitt there…..so then comes election time and his team claims Hillary didn’t cry over Katrina.

McCain did get some votes with that line. This tape would complete the job.

Glad to hear someone say it, McCain thank you for telling it like it is. Obama hasn’t done squat for anybody….and tears down people who have.

If this tape is real, Obama will hemorrage support like he’s been doing for months.

Comment by MaryPat | 2008-06-04 05:26:10

McCain genuinely likes Hillary. On the other hand, he doesn’t like Obama–views him as an upstart, someone who has not paid his dues.

Perhaps that explains the little zinger about how Barry was “declared” to be his opponent. Let the games begin.

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-06-04 06:34:15

I liked the last part of McCain’s speech, too. He said that he didn’t want to be president, because he believed that God had reached down and anointed him to be the leader of this country. He wanted to be president to do what he’s always done—serve this country.
This is why I have no problem voting for John McCain. I don’t agree with him on everything, but I have no doubt that he loves this country. Whereas, I have HUGE doubts that Obama loves it.
When this tape/DVD hits, who wants to bet that he’ll make a speech denouncing Michelle and announcing that he’s filed for a legal separation?

Comment by AC | 2008-06-04 06:44:23

Comment by bart | 2008-06-04 06:02:02

Thousands of copies? No way. This kind of stuff is usually interesting to no one other than folks who attended, and not all of them. Maybe a few others. But I’m willing to bet only a relative handful were ever sold and maybe 50 made. This is not exactly what Wal-Mart would call a “loss-leader.”

I seriously doubt there was a stampede to the church bookstore. So, no, I doubt that there were ever many of these to find.

Comment by Steve | 2008-06-04 06:16:41

And the people who do have them aren’t the sort to want to do anything that would endanger Obama’s candidacy. Which is why a cash reward has also been rumored.

Comment by BubbaG | 2008-06-04 07:28:06

If it exists, why would they release now, if the people that have it are repubs? They WANT Obama to be the nominee- not Hillary.

I doubt a major network has it. If it is CNN, CBS or NBC, they would break it in tiny pieces and then bury the shards in the ground.

If it was ABC or Fox, they would have played it already.

Comment by Mr. X | 2008-06-04 04:06:55

Just to confirm… if it doesn’t come out today or soon, you can get a copy? Man, I hope they get some polls out about a week after it comes out. I want to make some new electoral maps. Not that the current ones aren’t bad enough. I wanna see him lose New York. Seeing Obama turn a blue state into a red one would be exciting to see in a year where Dems are supposed to win easily.

Comment by Steve | 2008-06-04 04:13:20

When all is said and done, I don’t think Obama will break 200 EVs, maybe not even 150, and only the solid blue states among them. I know Hillary said she’d campaign her heart out for him, but I hope she doesn’t. He doesn’t deserve her help, after the crap his campaign has pulled.

Comment by sisterdo | 2008-06-04 04:54:43

I hope she will agree to not campaign for him, I think it would be best, considering how she’s been treated, I believe she just deserves some rest.

Did Obama just say her talking about continuing her own campaign into June like RFK meant “it’s all about Obama” and he really wanted her dead?

Hillary has been accused of too much by his campaign, I will not see him use her again. It wouldn’t be right.

Comment by Steve | 2008-06-04 05:09:00

I’m not sure if it started with them calling Hillary supporters Bradley Effect racists, or accusing her of demeaning MLK by pointing out a president had to sign the Civil Rights Act, but it quickly progressed to fake quotes like “Obama is just like Jesse Jackson”, “Hillary endorsed McCain,” “A black candidate is a fairy tale!”, “Now all I have to do is hope Obama gets shot!” and a million other things that were never, ever, ever said. And the media lapped it up and regurgitated it for the masses without one single spark of conscience or journalistic integrity.

Despicable. Disgusting. Obama doesn’t deserve the presidency. He ran a dishonorable, race-baiting campaign against a family that worked and worked for Americans and the Democratic party. In his own way, he’s even more loathsome than the people who tried to accuse Hillary of murder all those years ago. At least THEY weren’t members of her own party!!!

Comment by Betty | 2008-06-04 08:15:41

…all those years ago. At least THEY weren’t members of her own party!

After seeing the hate directed towards her from her own party, I wonder. That couldn’t have just materialized in these past 2 years.

I know her own party sabotaged her first attempt to give us UHC, now they are working on killing her second.

Comment by llamajockey | 2008-06-04 05:01:01

Steve,

I this Michelle Obama tape exists and Obama somehow still gets the nomination, I don’t Obama will carry a single state.

Will Obama will win in the Rocky Mountain/Great Plains states? Nope

Will Obama carry the Appalachian states? Nope. Funny how the usually thick skinned Scots-Irish do not like being called rednecks or hillbillies from Elitists and Marxists. Otherwise if you call them that with genuine affection they really don’t mind.

Will Obama carry the South? NO!!

Will Obama carry Florida? Not after last weekend.

Will Obama carry the Midwest? Nope and especially not Michigan.

Will Obama carry California? No, Obama is a rabid Marcusian/Gramcsian Marxist. Californians are fed up with Open Borders insanity. Middle and working class AAs are being run out of SoCal. 3rd, 4th, 5th… generation Latinos are tired of the rapid influx of illegal aliens and the associate criminal element that is adversely impacting their communities.

Likewise can Obama carry the other Border states? With the exception of New Mexico with Bill Richardson as VP No Way!!!

Can Obama carry Massachusetts. No, Why Deval Patrick.

Connecticut - Not with Lieberman campaigning for McCain.

Can Obama Carry New York. I don’t care how hard Hillary campaigns for Obama. I say after the way the Obama treated her, I say no way.

How about Minnesota, Maine, Vermont, Oregon and Washington??? Not if the NRA has anything to say in this election.

Honestly the only electoral votes I can see Obama getting is Washington DC.

Obama will prove to be McGovern on steroids.

Comment by Steve | 2008-06-04 05:18:58

I would agree with you if his followers weren’t so rabid. Have you even tried to watch one of those music videos? They are truly chilling.

He’s guaranteed to wrap up the zombie vote, and that might net him a couple states. But it upsets me not only that the Democratic party has enabled this scenario, but actively shunned Hillary in the process.

What does that say about the Democratic party? It’s not the party I joined 15 years ago out of amazement at the job Bill Clinton was doing. The wing of the party Obama represents believe that the Clinton years were awful - that Bill Clinton governed like a conservative Republican. The twisted thought process behind that is impossible to comprehend.

The Republican party is completely unacceptable, but McCain isn’t a traditional Republican. So I will likely add my vote to the many, many democrats who will support McCain this November. I’ll vote Dem otherwise, unless I find one of my reps or senators stabbed Hillary in the back. They’ll find themselves without my vote as well, if that’s the case.

Some of you seem to think he has the nomination all sewed up. It will not happen until August at the convention in Denver. Hillary is alive and well, until her case is presented to the SDs. Any delegate can jump ship anytime between now and then. I’m sure that within the next couple of days or weeks, the SDs will be coming back to Hillary in droves, proving beyond any stretch of the imagination that she IS THE MOST ELECTABLE. Get off of this McCain for president stuff. If you still believe in Hillary, LIKE THE MAN SAID:
BE PATIENT

Not just New York. If this is true the only state he will carry is DC.

The Super Delegates will FLOCK to Hillary faster than you can say racist. TRUST ME. This video will DESTROY BO’s campaign and SDs are free to change their minds until they cast their votes at the convention…that’s why BO isn’t REALLY the Democratic nominee. ONLY in his own mind is he the Dem nominee. He’ll be finished after this video comes out. He won’t survive to go to the convention. This is probably why the remaining SDs haven’t endorsed. THEY know this video exists. If WE know, THEY know.

hey, you’re writing at 4am too.

and if the alternative is obama, i have no desire to unite and get mccain, as you so colorfully put it. if obama’s the nominee, mccain is the guy. obama can go to jail with rezko, blago, etc.

Comment by cc | 2008-06-04 03:48:25

that’s right - we really need to get John McCain elected President of the United States! and believe me Joey if your corrupt, sleazebag is the dem nominee I will be doing everything I can to make sure McCain wins in November!

Joey,

You are a fucking idiot!

Comment by Jacob | 2008-06-04 03:51:25

You think we need to unite? Well, frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.

No way, no how I will vote for Obama. Maybe McCain, we will see.

AND YOU CANT BE A CREDIBLE GUY WRITING POST AT 4 AM.

What would that make you then? I was wondering, though, if you are remotely aware that 4AM in one part of the country can be 1AM elsewhere?

Newsflash: there’s not going to be a warm and fuzzy little lovefest. After Hillary and her supporters have been called racists, liars, and worse? Accusing Hillary of calling for Obama’s assassination… Launching actual, real campaign ads in South Carolina calling her a liar just because she pointed out she and Obama vote the same on Iraq? Even knowing Republicans would use those same ads against her if she were the nominee?

No. There’s not going to be unity. It was foolish of you Obama supporters to crap all over everyone and then expect them to love you for it.

DAMNED STRAIGHT.
WHO THE F*K WANTS AXELROD IN THE WHITEHOUSE?!!!!

I would not even vote for an Obama/Clinton ticket without a guarantee that she will be assigned to healthcare, and economy.

Comment by J.R. | 2008-06-04 07:54:06

You’re not going to get an Obama / Clinton ticket. She is unworthy of the Vice President position and she WILL NOT hijack her way into that position because of a couple of thousand raving internet lunatics.

Exactly right…the DNC is clueless. Have you heard in TM’s site some people say they now belong to the PUMA Party (Party Unity My A**). Ha! I already created an account @/JMc’s site…there we are called HillMcs. Waiting….patiently (as Larry suggests) to make my next move. But one thing is for sure, my vote & my $$$ go to McCain if Obama is the nominee.

Hillary or McCain The only choice I want.

LET THE DEMOCRATS UNITE WE REALLY NEED TO GET JOHN MCCAIN.

This isn’t about “getting” anyone. It’s not about winning some kind of game, and John McCain isn’t the villain who has to be taken down at the end of the movie. The Democrats and Republicans aren’t opposing soccer teams or battling armies in a computer game. Thank goodness, some intelligent, thoughtful, mature people, who don’t equate everything in life with what they view on an iPod, still cast their votes based on what’s best for our country and the common good of all parties.

Comment by standard | 2008-06-04 07:54:35

I can’t stand McCain. My vote will be for Nader, unless there is a way to write-in Clinton.

Comment by Michael Oaks | 2008-06-04 08:03:03

Oh! We’re gonna unite. We are going to Unite behind the only real candidate who stands a prayer against McCain, Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton will not in my opinion unite behind a couple of race baiter’s for president (Barrack and Michelle). I don’t want anyone in a leadership roll(Obama)who is afraid to debate Hillary. He’s like a one legged man in an ass kickin’ contest anyway. Rise Hillary Rise
