The Michelle Obama Diversion

I give the Obama folks credit–they’ve tried mightily to shift the meaning of my original report. I learned last week that Republicans have a tape of Michelle in a racist rant. She does so while part of a panel discussion. I do not know where this occurred. And the specific date is not known either. BuzzHill offered up his view earlier today but I have not confirmed one way or another.

At no time have I claimed to have the tape or promised to deliver said tape. In fact, I reported that Republicans working on behalf of McCain are desperate to keep this under wraps until Obama is formally nominated in August. Got it?

So as trolls stagger by to taunt and provoke, have pity on them–they cannot read and are devoid of comprehension skills. I guess that’s why they are for Obama. Figures. Meanwhile, with or without said tape, we do know that the Obamas participated for almost 20 years in a church that espoused racism. They supported the race baiter Jeremiah Wright with financial contributions. So enough of the pretense that they were attending a mainstream, vanilla, anodyne Christian church. Au contraire. Non. I believe my sources and believe the tape will appear after August and before November.

Found a great article by a REAL journalist who actually sees Obama for what he is: a corrupt Chicago politian. Here are some choice quotes:

Obama the reformer is backed by Mayor Richard M. Daley and the Daley boys. He is spoken for by Daley’s own spokesman, David Axelrod. He was launched into his U.S. Senate by machine power broker and state Senate President Emil Jones (D-ComEd).

As a candidate, Obama will do what he has to do to win. My argument is not with him–but with the national political media pack that refuses to look closely at what Chicago is. They’re fixated on what it was, and they think it’s clean now.

And they’ve spent years crafting, then cleaving to their eager and trembling Obama narrative, a tale of great yearning, almost mythic and ardently adolescent, a tale in which Obama is portrayed as a reformer, a dynamic change agent about to do away with the old thuggish politics.

It’s as if Axelrod channeled it, wearing a peaked Merlin hat. Obama is a South Sider and does not hail from Camelot or Mt. Olympus or the lush forests of mythical Narnia.

I’ve joked that reporters feel compelled to hug him, in their copy, as if he were the cuddly faun, the Mr. Tumnus of American politics. But I was only kidding. The real Mr. Tumnus never had Billy Daley or Ted Kennedy carving up Cabinet appointments.

So why the disconnect? Why is Obama allowed to campaign as a reformer, virtually unchallenged by the media, though he’s a product of Chicago politics and has never condemned the wholesale political corruption in his home town the way he condemns those darn Washington lobbyists.

For an answer as to when pundits will ever put Illinois corruption in context, I called on Tom Bevan, executive director of the popular political Web site Real Clear Politics (which directs readers to my column on occasion) and a Chicagoan.

“To a large degree, the media has accepted much of the Obama narrative thus far,” Bevan told me. “He’s risen so quickly, but his history hasn’t been bogged down with an association of Chicago politics and I can’t tell you why exactly, except perhaps that some may have bought into the established narrative and can’t separate themselves from it.”

“And I don’t know if the country understands just how corrupt the system is in Illinois. People don’t see it. They’re flying over us, cruising at 30,000 feet,” Bevan said.

Why are the trolls still whining about the video? You never promised it. You reported what you knew. They sure seemed concerned about a video they claimed doesn’t exist while at the same time circulating part of a transcript of the nonexistent video.

With the Rezko conviction the trolls have something much worse to worry about. They must wonder what information he has to exchange for a reduced sentence. They also must wonder why he just turned himself in to jail when he could have waited until September. They must wonder if he is about to flip on someone higher up the food chain. They must wonder who that might be.

The trolls must be having serious nightmares when they sleep.

Comment by jim aaron | 2008-06-05 07:43:33

Rezko had already spent time in jail when his bond was revoked a few months ago. After about a month or so he did get a new $8,000,000 bond and left jail. With his conviction he was jailed as a flight risk, I don’t think he had a choice.

POLITICS: Nobody’s Too Far Left For Obama
Erick Erickson has a dynamite, exclusive and exhaustively researched post on the nature and history of the socialist New Party, whose endorsement Obama sought and received in his initial 1996 run for the Illinois State Senate. A must read.

Make sure you follow as well the link to Rick Moran’s post.
http://rightwingnuthouse.com/archives/2008/05/30/obamas-radical-political-alliances/

Note that the website Moran links to, the Chicago Democratic Socialists of America, carried this charming endorsement for Obama for Congress in 2000:

http://www.chicagodsa.org/ngarchive/ng69.html

Barak Obama is serving only his second term in the Illinois State Senate so he might be fairly charged with ambition, but the same might have be said of Bobby Rush when he ran against Congressman Charles Hayes. Obama also has put in time at the grass roots, working for five years as a community organizer in Harlem and in Chicago. When Obama participated in a 1996 UofC YDS Townhall Meeting on Economic Insecurity, much of what he had to say was well within the mainstream of European social democracy.

The more you look, the more you see.

The whole issue of the tape reminds me of that scene in “The Alamo” where Davey Crockett writes a fake letter purportedly from General Santa Anna to rile up his Tennesseeans to get them to fight. After the letter is read to them and they’re fighting mad, Crockett admits that it’s a fraud. But they’re so mad it doesn’t matter to them any more. Crockett keeps saying, “BUT I WROTE THE LETTER!” And they just apply a logic so twisted that the fake letter somehow becomes genuine because, “It’s the kind of letter he WOULD have written.”

Likewise the whole point of the putative tape is to “keep up the scare,” as General Nathan Forrest put it. Keep telling everyone that the Obamas are racists by applying guilt by association without any hard proof. Even if the tape is never produced, “It’s the kind of thing she WOULD have said.” And isn’t that just as good as having the actual tape? Sorry, no. The whole charge is just a house of cards with no substantial proof offered. Next we’ll be told that Ming The Merciless from the Planet Mongo has stolen the tape because he’s in league with the Leprechauns who pull Obama’s strings.

Since she is not going to concede (there’s no reason for it), and there’s no nominee (he doesn’t have enough pledged delegates), Hillary Clinton should go on a ‘Listening Tour’ to talk to her supporters. She should target 20 important states (mostly the swing states) and talk about the differences between her own policies and those of McCain and Obama (mostly McCain). She should also make it clear that she wants all votes to be counted equally. Her strength does not come from Washington, DC. Most of her supporters are out in the country, in Pa., WV, Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, Michigan, California, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Indiana, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and South Dakota.

Her supporters comprise the majority of the democratic party, and they need to see and hear from her regularly if she wants the nomination. She should have a listening tour or town halls in all of these states, starting as soon as possible. It will demonstrate her continuing appeal, enhance her political capital and pave the way for a possible independent run, if necessary.

The Hillary 08 Listening Tour – hopefully coming soon to a city near you.

Why are so many Obamabots coming out today to an obviously pro-Hillary site? On top of it – being so nasty when they should be celebrating supposed victory at their own sites, right? Didn’t the media crown your snob? What are you doing here, clogging up the server?

It reminds one of grade school where the kid with the ball would get bossy toward the other kids who also wanted to play with the ball, yelling abuses at them. They listened to him at the beginning as he had the ball, but eventually realized they would rather play elsewhere where they were respected, even if it meant there would be no ball to play with. So they all left (and formed their own websites), leaving the kid with the ball sitting there all by himself – with no one to play with, no one to shout his victory to – even if it was a false victory. He soon realized that it was no fun playing by yourself, even if you have all the toys. Not to mention, you can’t win when no one is supporting you. You need the others – if only you hadn’t abused them so much to the point of no return, my badddddd. Sorry?

Too late pal – beat it – you’re no longer wanted. Take your ball and go home.

The way Princeton pulled her thesis from their library is proof she has some interesting views on whites and race.

Not enough proof for you?

Comment by Donald from Hawaii | 2008-06-05 03:30:00

Speaking as an academic, that’s certainly a legitimate issue — not necessarily for a political campaign, per se, but from the standpoint of intellectual and academic honesty. Michelle Robinson offered the thesis, and it was accepted by Princeton as a valid viewpoint for discussion. Now, as an academic, let her defend those views in public,; don’t salt them away until after the election.

Other dirty tricks!

I would like to see the FBI involved in an investigation into the secret alliance between Edwards, Obama and Richardson in the Iowa caucus. This is really a huge deal. I think these three guys, or at least their campaign managers, might belong in jail for what they conspired to do and succeed in doing against Hillary.

Here’s how the scam worked. If Edwards is really strong in a precinct, he shares some of his votes with either Obama or Richardson to move them up.
They cross share their votes in all the precincts to move up.

That is how Edwards was able to eeke out a second place finish over Hillary Clinton in Iowa, Hillary finished in third. This is secret collusion and is NOT LEGAL.

The 527 Groups will have Obama sliced and diced, way too much baggage. I wonder how many AMERICAN Clergymen have gone to Libya to visit with the TERRORIST Kadafi, who Bombed a Pan-Am flight that killed many Americans. Rev. Wright went for a visit with his good friend, Louis Farrakhan, to suck up to this KILLER.

Comment by paul_lukasiak | 2008-06-05 08:06:46

first off, we know that there is a tape of the meeting that Hillbuzz wrote about.

The fact that Larry doesn’t have a copy means nothing. Unless Trinity Church and Project Push (Jesse Jackson’s group) have destroyed all copies, THEY have copies of the tape, and they should release them, and settle the question once and for all.

If there is nothing there, the story goes away. But the longer that TUCC and Project Push withhold the tape, the more intense the speculation.

But there is another problem for Obama here — he and race-pimp extraordiare Jesse Jackson JUNIOR (I admire and respect Jesse Jackson, but his son is a different matter entirely) CO-CHAIRED THE CONFERENCE…. and the conference itself was more than just the Michele Obama panel.

ANd since the conference was held at TUCC, I think we can be fairly certain that there will be other “controversial” stuff from the conference –stuff that as a CO-CHAIR, Obama tacitly endorsed as “acceptable discourse”

And that is really the key — I don’t agree with a lot of people’s opinions, but there is a difference between legitimate opinion, and the kind of hate speech that we hear from everyone from Wright to Hagee. As co-chair, Obama bears the responsibility for the acceptability of what was said at the conference.

So, Larry, why not push for TUCC and Project Push to release everything from that conference, including the MO tape…

Obama supporters have been reactors all year, so why should we expect anything different now? They have about 5 different snark remarks, and apparently surf around posting those same boring words over and over and over. It’s mind-numbing.

Certainly, I figured out last year that no discussion was possible. There is no nuance, no ability to read carefully, no natural curiosity about why this or maybe that. I sensed that the need to belong was so huge that to stray from the talking points by various “leaders” on the net or from Obama’s campaign would threaten their identity too much. Now, I see why that was so. The Obama blogs are big on banning anyone who questions or suggests a different interpretation. It’s true, then, that to think independently would mean that one was banned from the group.

I suspect that type of heavy-handed control from their support groups for Obama has many of them feeling emasculated. They huff and puff and demand of others to pretend that’s not the case.

It must be frustrating to have to repeat the inane statements of others and not be allowed to think logically for oneself.

It must be embarassing, too, to back someone who steals delegates to win.

In any case, I wouldn’t expect any of them to read and cogitate. I did not see much thinking going on all year. It was all nothing but apologist propoganda being regurgitated.

Today’s apology: Rezko and Obama really aren’t connected. Oh, and the even more lame ones will say, “Hillary took money, too, from him.”

The meme on the tape? Larry promised to deliver and didn’t. Nevermind that is false. Truth means zip to these folks. They are nothing more than robots for Obama.

There’s video of Diane Feinstein today giving details of the “secret” meeting between Clinton and Obama at her house. She says the meeting lasted for an hour. That’s long enough to see a 30 minute video.
You can see the Feinstein interview at:
