I Have A Dream

This is a rant by NancyInCali, whose blog is The Hillary Hotline. Nancy’s is a continuation of the “rants” that I have invited all of our readers to submit, and I have vowed to publish all, whether or not I specifically agree with specific points of view. I’d also like to thank Nancy — and all of our “ranters” — for their lively and passionate participation here at No Quarter. – SusanUnPC

I Have A Dream … Now it’s a nightmare.

Today I registered as a Republican for the first time in my life.

I have been a lifelong democrat, but today my family and I left the Democratic Party and registered as Republicans.

We will be supporting John McCain in November.

We didn’t have to re-register, we could have simply voted for McCain in November, but we wanted to send a message to the Democratic Party. We are unhappy, disappointed, and angry at Obama, his supporters, the media and the Democratic Party.

Barack Obama was Selected, Not Elected by the Democratic party.

“No self respecting woman should wish or work for the success of a party that ignores her” -Susan B Anthony, 1872.

The way in which Obama got the nomination is similar to how Bush won in 2000 against Gore. All votes were not counted and they were not counted equally.

Pledged delegates were won by each candidate either through a primary or a caucus. Obama received most of his delegates by winning caucuses. The very nature of a caucus suppresses voter turnout, since caucuses take place over a few hours on a specific day and do not allow absentee ballots, those that are unable to attend (workers, disabled, mothers with childcare issues) cannot participate. Consequently a delegate in a small state with low voter turnout like Idaho, receives far more weight than a delegate from a primary in a bigger state with high voter turnout, like California.

While the Democrats cried “foul!” to the outcome in Florida over the votes counted and not counted in 2000, this same party decided to count votes in Florida by 1/2 for moving their primary date forward which was not the party’s fault.  And in Michigan the Rules & Bylaws committee voted to completely OVERTURN the results of the election and give Obama 59 extra delegates that he did not win, while taking 4 delegates from Hillary Clinton that she did win.

When you consider that Obama “won” the pledged delegates by a mere 3%, or 125.  This includes the extra 59 delegates from a state whose ballot he chose to remove his name from. You can see that the 125 delegate lead is reduced to a mere 58 pledged delegate lead had the delegates been distributed according to the votes. This is called OVERTURNING THE ELECTION RESULTS – the very thing the Democrats cried “foul!” over in 2000.

Pledged Delegates          Barack Obama     1,765  (51%)  + 125   +3%
Hillary Clinton     1,640  (48%) **she takes these to the convention

What MI should have
looked like:                      Barack Obama       1,702   (50.8%)    +58 +1.7%
                                         Hillary Clinton      1,644   (49.1%)

Super Delegates             Barack Obama      424     + 144
                                         Hillary Clinton      282
                                         Uncommitted       118
(Super Delegates can change their mind, final vote at convention)

Hillary Clinton not only won the popular vote in the Democratic primaries, she received more votes than any other candidate in the history of any primary in the United States with over 18 million votes!!

Obama has a history of disenfranchising voters. Not only did he not want the votes counted in Florida or Michigan, he did not want a revote to take place.

I am not surprised, when Obama first came to Chicago and ran for his state senate seat in IL he was successful because he had the incumbent, Alice Palmer and his other opponents removed from the ballot in a legal loophole maneuver. Consequently, he ran unopposed and the popular, qualified incumbent Alice Palmer was OUT!

Obama has lied about his relationships with Rev Wright, Father Pfledger, and convicted terrorist William Ayers. He has also lied about his association with convicted felon Tony Rezko.

Does anyone else find it odd that demands for Hillary to leave the race escalated on a day when his “friend” Rezko was convicted on 16 counts of bribery and fraud that the news media failed to report on?

He has called all these relationships “unfortunate”.

This is the politics of “Hope” and “Change”?

Are you kidding me?

The Male Elite Losers of the Democratic party all backed Obama early and consistently called for Hillary to quit the race.  Dashle, Bradley, Kerry, Edwards, Richardson, Leahy, McGovern, Kennedy and Howard Dean are all losers themselves in their quests for the Presidency.  The only Winner in the group supported Hillary Clinton.

The only President to successfully serve two terms in my lifetime:  Bill Clinton.

Since neither Hillary nor Barack could win the nomination through the election process, due to the tightness of the race, it required the Elite to choose one of them and -how surprising- they chose the younger, inexperienced, unqualified male over the older, experienced, qualified female.  In California we call that DISCRIMINATION.

“Woman is the Nigger of the World” -John Lennon and Yoko Ono, 1972.

“Woman is the Slave of Slaves, We insult her every day on TV and wonder why she has no guts or confidence. When she’s young, we kill her will to be free. While telling her not to be so smart, we put her down for being so dumb.”

How can I vote for McCain?

EASY. This is my protest vote.

Sometimes the PERSON running (or not running in this case) is MORE IMPORTANT than the issues.

Sometimes if they will not listen, you have to find a way to make yourself heard.

For the 6-10 million Hillary supporters that plan to vote for McCain, or not vote at all – we are lucky. The Republicans actually picked a MODERATE candidate!!! John McCain has similar views to democrats on: global warming, immigration, gay rights (he believes same sex couples should have legal rights of some sort), and campaign finance reform.

Now, of course, Republicans don’t have a problem with the idea of many Hillary supporters joining them against Obama.

In fact, I was shocked to see that on McCain’s own website blog there were more Hillary supporters there on Wed night than McCain supporters!!

“Welcome Hillary Supporters” one Republican male wrote – “We may not agree on all issues, but we will try to be open minded and hear you, we hope you will be open minded too. Remember, even we Republicans can’t agree on very many issues. But we all have one goal and that is to defeat Obama in November.”

Senator Joe Lieberman sent us Hillary supporters an email on Friday asking us to join him in supporting John McCain.

Of course Democrats and Independents are appalled at the idea that I would support John McCain. “What about abortion rights and women’s rights?” they cry.

Okay – do you not get it? I have just witnessed the biggest abuse of a woman in modern history – the take down of the most qualified, experienced WOMAN candidate by her OWN party.

What about THAT Woman’s Rights?

Where was the Democratic Party leadership when Clinton was being verbally abused and having sexist hate messages hurled at her by the media on a nightly basis? Where was the media when the Obama campaign screamed “Racist” at Bill & Hillary Clinton?

NOWHERE.

Nope – it ain’t gonna work – not this time.

Threatening me with Supreme Court justices and overturning Roe v Wade isn’t gonna work this time. If it was not overturned in the last 8 years under the most conservative, backwards administration and congress in my lifetime, then it surely will not be overturned under a more moderate McCain Presidency who will have a majority Democratic congress.

And – I do not care about the war anymore. The Deaths of the 4,000 soldiers killed sit squarely on the shoulders of the stupid idiots that voted for Bush – TWICE. Talk to THEM.

I have been a loyal democrat, I supported John Kerry, even though I didn’t like him. I knew the stakes were high then, but stupid people voted for Bush and here we are.

“Women’s Rights are Human Rights” -Hillary Clinton, 1995 Beijing, China

This is about how Hillary Clinton has been UNFAIRLY treated as a Woman
candidate for President: by the media, by Obama, by his supporters and
by the Democratic Party.

If we do not correct it now and speak out about it now, then it will not change.

We must protest.

This is about WOMEN’S RIGHTS and telling the Democratic Party that the 60% membership of women in the party count too.

I no longer share the values of a party that selects its nominee through a series of discriminating and disenfranchising methods. Where certain votes count and others do not.

My Goal is to Have Hillary Clinton as PRESIDENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  Not just ANY Woman – THE Woman, Hillary Clinton.

I wish she’d leave the Democratic Party and run as an Independent. She won’t do that, but voting for McCain opens it up for her to run in 2012.

It is the fastest path for her to be elected barring the possibility that my new party will find enough trash in Obama’s background to have the Super Delegates change their mind at the Convention. Obama is the ‘presumptive’ nominee.

And finally, I do not believe Obama has the experience, qualifications or Character to be President. 1 year in the Senate (2 years running for office) does not qualify him. In fact, if he won – he would be the LEAST QUALIFIED, LEAST EXPERIENCED President we EVER had in our ENTIRE History.

I believe the Vice President position is an INSULT to Hillary Clinton (she’s already done that will Bill).  Still, I would like to see her take it for the simple reason – it is HISTORY making and she is only a heartbeat away from the #1 spot …..things happen….

Yes – I would vote for Hillary Clinton as Vice President, I could never vote against her.

I am glad that Hillary will only suspend her campaign and hold all her delegates until the Convention. Since the final vote by all delegates is not cast until the Convention.

And let’s be clear.

Obama did not SOAR to this nomination – HE LIMPED. In fact Hillary won the last 6 out of 9 contests. She has won most of the contests since March. She has WON ALL SWING STATES. She has the stronger poll numbers against McCain and she wins the electoral swing states needed to secure the nomination.

It is the closest election in the Democratic Primary history.

Here is just how close the popular vote numbers came out:

Popular Vote                    Hillary Clinton     18,046,007 (50.2%)  + 176,465  +.5%
                                         Barack Obama     17,869,542 (49.7%)

In the end everyone makes up their own mind about who to vote for and why. That’s America.

But, for me. November, 2008 – I will send a message to Barack Obama and the Democratic Party:

“No You Can’t”.  “Not This time.”

John McCain for President 2008

And finally, I do not believe Obama has the experience, qualifications or Character to be President. 1 year in the Senate (2 years running for office) does not qualify him. In fact, if he won – he would be the LEAST QUALIFIED, LEAST EXPERIENCED President we EVER had in our ENTIRE History.

Actually, Abe Lincoln only had two years in congress under his belt when he became president (Obama has 3.5 + 8 years in his state senate). He was an obscure congressman, and his opponents ridiculed him for being inexperienced. Now he is revered as one of the greatest presidents of all times.

Comment by Joe | 2008-06-07 22:52:51

At the time of Lincoln, the USA wasn’t a global superpower. The only major conflicts it was involved in was with its former colonial master and with Canada and Mexico. Most of its problems were domestic, revolving around the relationship between the Federal government and states and the question of slavery. Nearly 150 years later, the problems that the US faces is far different and far more complex than what Lincoln faced. Obama has not demonstrably shown that he has the smarts to deal with it, especially with regards to terrorism and Iran and in fact appears to be extremely naive.

Comment by Darren | 2008-06-07 22:55:04

Yep, that whole ‘civil war’ thing wasn’t a “major conflict”, right?

Comment by POdVet | 2008-06-07 23:07:14

Your claim of Abe’s lack of experience is a complete lie as I pointed out in the other thread. 4 terms Illinois state senate, 1 term US house of Representatives, and lawyer for 23 years involved with over 5100 cases. Tell your supervisor at Obama election HQ that you have been busted in your lie, and they will have to find some other false talking point until that one is also proven to be another lie.

Those you see following the Obamessiah are not Democrats, though the species may try to look similar. They are in fact nothing but JACKASSES!

Um, I’m talking about elected office; Obama has more elected office than Lincoln did when he first ran.

PS I bet Abe Lincoln wasn’t president of the Harvard Law Review

Comment by Kinky Ogremann | 2008-06-07 23:28:42

Elected? You dare bring up elected when he used legal maneuvering to eliminate all competition on the ballot and then was SELECTED by DNC idiotic elites??? Don’t they teach logic anymore?

Hmm…. Just like the Court gave Bush the election.

Comment by POdVet | 2008-06-07 23:33:18

DEE DEE DEE! What the hell do you think 4 terms in Illinois State Senate is? Or a term in the US House of Representatives! Last time I checked those were elected offices jackass.

But you are right…Abe wasn’t president of Harvard Law Review (without having published a single article)Hard to be given that position through affirmative action when Abraham was self educated, and did not go to college.

*NEW YORK TIMES
Published: February 6, 1990
Mr. Obama was elected after a meeting of the review’s 80 editors that convened Sunday and lasted until early this morning, a participant said.

Until the 1970’s the editors were picked on the basis of grades, and the president of the Law Review was the student with the highest academic rank. Among these were Elliot L. Richardson, the former Attorney General, and Irwin Griswold, a dean of the Harvard Law School and Solicitor General under Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard M. Nixon.

That system came under attack in the 1970’s and was replaced by a program in which about half the editors are chosen for their grades and the other half are chosen by fellow students after a special writing competition. The new system, disputed when it began, was meant to help insure that minority students became editors of The Law Review.*

oops you’ve beaten by the truth again…

look similar. They are in fact nothing but JACKASSES!

If it wasn’t for Generals Grant and Sherman saving Lincoln’s ass and for some lucky breaks at the Battle of Gettysburg, Lincoln would have ended up in exile in Canada and the former United States would be now known as the Confederate States of America.

Comment by MyTownTalks | 2008-06-08 07:22:18

Not to mention the fact the Sherman accomplished his goals by Wartime crimes against people in the South. These people really need to read up on your facts. Linclon had a lot of common sense, something Obama has not demostrated in any capcity. To compare Linclon to Obama is worse than the attempts to compare him to JFK. He’s not even in the same ballpark as either of them.

Facts ARE Obama is the most UNQUALIFIED candidate EVER — in the history of the US.

He is lazy — he is stupid about history — he steal other people work and claims it as his own.

He was a lazy Senator — and he is a lazy stupid candidate.

Obamabots are the most uninformed and lazy sob idiots– just like their lazy messiah.

Comment by Glenn | 2008-06-08 12:59:16

I am not a male chauvinist. I supported Obama from the moment he declared his candidacy. I never hated Hillary, in fact I respect her greatly. I said from the beginning I would support whomever the Democrats nominated as I cannot live with another 4 years of Republican rule in the White House. I have a wife I adore and three beautiful children, whose future I constantly worry about. I have a 13 year old son and with John McBush’s plan to stay in Iraq could end up over there. It is not worth one more American Life, nor the billions of dollars we are spending, which could go towards health care, rebuilding our infrastructure, or developing alternatives to fossil fuels. As I said before, if Hillary were the nominee, I would have worked my tail off for her. I would never cut off my nose to spite my face. Just don’t paint all of us Obama supporters with a blanket statement.

Obscure perhaps but not inexperienced. He had an active legal practice for many years and was a frequent litigator of transportation law and almost considered the “house” attorney for the Illinois Central Railroad. Stephen Ambrose writes that Lincoln was a shaper of transportation law. He “rode” the 8th Judicial Circuit for 9 years.

Lincoln served in state militia in the Black Hawk war. As a legislator he was in the Illinois Illinois General Assembly (1834-1842) and the US House (1846-1848). He operated a barge company on the Sangamon and authored a patent (#6469) on barge flotation.

Obscure, perhaps to the Eastern elites. Stanton in an Ohio patent trail called Lincoln a long armed ape. Stanton became Lincoln’s War Secretary.

Mr. Lincoln’s resume is more substantial than Mr. Obama’s.

Comment by standard | 2008-06-08 07:53:31

er, Abe had a reputation for telling the truth. He would not have gone through Iowa claiming he passed a safety bill that protected his district, when the bill never passed, and after nuclear interests donated to his campaign, re-wrote the bill protecting nuclear interests against his district.
Little stuff like that.

Abe didn’t hijack blogs and silence his competition by throwing them out, or harassing them.

On and on.

Obama has had enough experience to leave us underwhelmed.

Comment by Spiritof76 | 2008-06-08 09:54:22

My dear–it is a slightly more complicated world than when Lincoln took office. And Lincoln was not running against a well qualified, well vetted opponent who had the intelligence to have worked on solutions for many of the problems and the know-how for how to implement them. Our nation has grave difficulties–we need someone who can deal with them, someone who understands the problems and the people. Someone who cares.

When I watched her speech this morning, I felt something genuine in her voice. When she talked about dedicating her life to making America a better place, you could tell that was her deepest conviction.

She seemed a little hesitant endorsing Obama, but she also seemed very confident when she said we cannot afford to allow the Republicans to hold The White House for another 4 years or more.

In the end, I think Hillary’s decision to support Obama was what she feels is the best course for our country to follow. I’ve supported her so far, so there’s no reason for me to doubt her now.

Let’s take back The White House for the Democrats and turn the chapter on the Bush era of our country.

I have to agree. I think when I’m in the voting booth this November, I’ll have to weigh the issues of each candidate and vote for the person that most closely reflects my values.

With so many similarities between Obama and Hillary, and so many critical differences between Hillary and McCain, I don’t think I could live with myself if I voted for McCain.

I’ll trust Hillary on this one. America really can’t afford a third term of GWB.

Comment by american sawbuck | 2008-06-07 23:20:50

It cannot afford a first term of the obamas. That would be the worst thing for this country. EVER.

Comment by POdVet | 2008-06-07 23:27:54

From what I’ve heard about McCain in my veterans groups, you DO NOT want to vote for him.

The damage he will do to our country will be unimaginable.

I would either vote third-party (like Nader or Barr) or support Hillary and vote for Obama.

Comment by POdVet | 2008-06-07 23:38:46

Nice try moron, people here will know thats not me. I will never vote for your Obamessiah. I have stated clearly and repeatedly. If come November Obama is the nominee, I will vote against Obama by voting for McCain. That is 2 more votes Obama will have to get from chicago graveyards.

LBJ was instrumental in getting it passed and is efforts should not be marginalized.

The civil rights bill was being fillibustered by the “Dixiecrats” of the democratic party. Byrd, Al Gore SENIOR, etc. It was passed when 44 of the 48 republicans voted FOR the civil rights bill, breaking the DEMOCRATIC DIXIECRATS fillibuster.

CONGRESS passed the civil rights bill, not Democrats alone.

I know what they’ve done to us lately. But what have they done? Did we get same-sex marriage?
Nope. Did we get Bush impeached? Nope. Did we ever get the Equal Rights Ammendment passed? Nope.
Did we stop a scum-bag like Roberts from getting on the Supreme Court? Nope. Pffft. Instead of getting competent, the party decided to power-play its own membership out of the discourse. F the

you also say

Here is just how close the popular vote numbers came out:
Popular Vote Hillary Clinton 18,046,007 (50.2%) + 176,465 +.5%
Barack Obama 17,869,542 (49.7%)

In the end everyone makes up their own mind about who to vote for and why. That’s America.

Those numbers disenfranchise voters in Michigan who wanted to vote for Obama but couldn’t, and the 30000+ write-in votes for Obama that were thrown out. They also disenfranchise voters in caucus states that didn’t keep official tallies of how many people showed up (Iowa, Nebraska, Maine, Washington State). When you add these voters, Obama leads Hillary.

Those are the rules in MI. Those votes (write ins) do not count and they were only theorizing those were for Obama, as again they are not allowed to be counted. It is the height of hypocrisy to agrue rules are rules but only when they favor your candidate.
Which rules of government will Obama support? Which parts of the constitiution will he agree with?
His naive foreign policy and his constant flip flopping on it will create certain disaster for the U.S. What rules will he apply to the tyrants he sympathizes with?
Do you have any justification for this man’s complete lack of regard for anyone but himself?
What will he really do for you?

Comment by Darren | 2008-06-07 23:19:46

So it’s okay to disenfranchise the voters who wanted to vote for Obama but couldn’t?

Also, if you want to talk about rules; it was against the rules for Michigan to hold its primary before february 5th!

I just want you to know I live in my mother’s basement.

Comment by Hope | 2008-06-07 23:34:21

Voters who wrote in Obama (as theorized) must have missed his campaigning in MI,; when he explicity told them to vote uncommitted.

Those(write in) votes are not legally certified and therefore could not be taken away. The legitimate votes that were cast by voters and certified were the only ones able to be disenfranchised.

Does the issue need repeating. 5 states moved primaries. The ones punished were done so to boost Obama.
1 candidate campaigned in both MI and FL and broke the “rules”.
This was a rigged election and worse, it was carried out in broad daylight.
That is the essence of AUDACITY.
What made you all think no one would notice..yet another attempt to label American voters as stupid?

Comment by Nadai | 2008-06-08 00:18:11

try to reach either AxelRat or Daley and have a chat with them about how to fix that problem

Jeez… this Barack Hussein Jr. …always screwing his own people…. how typical…

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-06-08 01:03:58

Obama himself disenfranchised any Michigan voters who wanted to vote for him by voluntarily (and as a cynical political ploy) removing his name from the ballot there. The truth is that not many Michiganders wanted to vote for him, and he only removed his name in order to avoid an embarrassing and humiliating ass-kicking like the one McCain is going to give him this fall. Dodd and Kucinich left their names on the ballot, along with Clinton.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-06-08 01:24:58

Another question, Darren: Is there any chance Obama will try to remove his name from the ballot in the GE to avoid the embarrassing and humiliating ass-kicking by McCain, as he did in Michigan to avoid the embarrassing and humiliating ass-kicking by Hillary? Won’t that be embarrassing and humiliating for Dean, Brazile, Kerry, Kennedy and all the others who helped him steal the nomination?

Might of helped if the Dems had either counted their votes or let them vote again. Oh well…I’m sure BO will pick up 7 or 8 small red states in the west to make up for Michigan. Onward to victory!

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-06-08 04:25:56

The votes in the caucus states are BOGUS — make up — mostly fiction.

There was no verification of individuals — anyone could vote — ringers WERE voting in caucus.

AND in Washington and Texas — both Primaries and Caucuses were held. The results from these two states clearly demonstrate that caucuses are worthless.

Obama likes to work through his surrogates, but one of my personal favorites comes DIRECTLY from his campaign when they flogged the RFK assassination crap….just two weeks ago. That was a classic.

Obama’s life is about plausible (and not so plausible) deniability. “um, I wasn’t in Church when those things were said”; “just somebody who lives in my neighborhood”; “not the Tony Rezko that I knew”; “my staff filled out that survey”. A prerequisite of a job with his campaign is taking the blame for Obama.

The problem with Obama is that he is the face of a greater, possibly malignant operation. He is an idiot– he is afraid to take stances on issues and is no stranger to frequent equivocation. He is merely the charismatic face to many anti-Israeli and corporate special interests.

His speech on Tuesday was scary– he is an utter and complete demagogue.

I think its a terrible irony to vote for McCain based on the misogyny argument. McCain is the guy who laughed at the “beat the bitch” comment, the guy that called his wife a c**t in public, the guy that will follow the religious right’s assault on women’s issues. The reason Roe has stood is that the majority of the Supreme Court has not been willing to overturn it. A McCain presidency gives the SC a majority of conservative judges, who will ensure that being a pregnant woman is much more problematic. Women, especially young women, will suffer under McCain and his disasterous SC appointees. Allowing a McCain presidency is dangerous in so many ways, especially on women’s issues. Allowing a McCain presidency is actively working against Senator Clinton’s values and ideals.

Comment by Ivory Bill Woodpecker | 2008-06-07 23:00:52

The GOP will never overturn Roe v. Wade.

Why not? Because the GOP makes huge fat horse-choking wads of money from angry anti-abortionists.

But you don’t have to cherrypick McCain’s statements – just look at the fact that he left his wife after cheating on her after she was crippled and disfigured in an accident. But, noooo, I’m sure Obama is so much worse than that! After all, he beat Hillary in the primary, so he must be a raving sexist.

Just as soon as McCain tells some women that it’s not a banana in his pants but just his vibrating cell phone, just as soon as McCain tells a female PHARMACIST that he will kiss her if she wears his button, just as soon as MCCain calls a reporter Sweetie to subjugate her, just as soon as McCain asks a woman if he gets on his knees will she wear his button, just as soon as McCain calls a woman Annie Oakley, just as soon as he discusses how Hillary is “Periodically down” as in every 28 days, just as soon as he tells a women that she looks like a dancer, I will stop giving McCain a free pass. And just as soon as one of his pig sycophants start calling me a c*nt on message boards I will reassess. Ok, asshole?

“I have known Sen. Clinton, I admire her and I respect her. She has inspired generations of American women to believe that they can reach the highest office in this nation and I respect that.”

BO

I understand that Senator Clinton, periodically when she’s feeling down, launches attacks as a way of trying to boost her appeal.

Hillary is just pure CLASS. After being repeatedly and viciously ridiculed and belittled by the Obama campaign, she still offers her unqualified support to the Democratic Party-selected candidate. But no, I cannot and will not support that candidate – and his surrogates – in the November election and beyond. Didn’t the Obama campaign blame Bill Clinton for the Democratic Party’s loss of Congress and eventually the Senate?

B.O.W.L.* Big Time in November! Hillary in 2012. Let’s remain united!

Vote for your values. Don’t let sour grapes get in the way. Were you a Hillary supporter cause you liked her message and respected her or simply because you hated Obama? If you really respect the woman follow her wishes. Personally I vote values first and McSame is on the opposite end of the spectrum of my values when it comes from everything to the War, the economy, education and healthcare. Why you’d let sour grapes let you vote against your values is beyond me. If you share the same values as McSame you should never have been a Hillary supporter to begin with. Lets heal the wounds and move on. Vote values first.

CHANGE the way you perceive the world.

You don’t love America,
it’s the cause of all the world’s troubles.

If it’s immoral or illegal, accuse someone else of doing it first , then they won’t see you doing it.

Slander former Presidents.

Give the finger to your opponent.

Consistenly display you r disdain for everyone, they are so beneath you.

I try to vote for the candidate who uses the word “values” the fewest number of times (fewest, least, dammit you people are so fussy) because of the way that word has been so misused by politicians.

But I do love this country, and I want to vote for someone with character, even though I may disagree with him on some issues. That would be McCain. Obama is a lying conman who has never kept a promise to anyone unless he could somehow personally benefit from it. He is surrounded by the most vicious and unsavory group of criminals and thugs ever assembled on this continent; and his use of race-baiting, divisive, bigoted and slanderous tactics in this campaign is unforgivable. He has never managed anything in his life, but now he wants to be chief executive of this country. He is unqualified, he is dishonest and he is selfish. I have in the past compared him to George W. Bush, but in truth he is much worse than Bush. He will never get my vote. McCain ‘08, Hillary ‘12, Obama never.

Obama’s Plan To Disarm The U.S.
By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Friday, June 06, 2008 4:20 PM PT

Defense Policy: In the middle of a war on two fronts, Barack Obama plans to gut the military. He also wants to dismantle our nuclear arsenal. And he wants to keep you in the dark about it.

The Obamatons of the mainstream media have failed to report one of the most chilling campaign promises thus far uttered by the presumptive Democrat nominee for president.

He made it before the Iowa caucus to a left-wing pacifist group that seeks to reallocate defense dollars to welfare programs. The lobbying group, Caucus for Priorities, was so impressed by Obama’s anti-military offering that it steered its 10,000 devotees his way.

In a 132-word videotaped pledge (still viewable on YouTube), Obama agreed to hollow out the U.S. military by slashing both conventional and nuclear weapons.

The scope of his planned defense cuts, combined with his angry tone, is breathtaking. He sounds as if the military is the enemy, not the bad guys it’s fighting. Here is a transcript:

“I’m the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning; and as president, I will end it.

“Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems.

“I will institute an independent defense priorities board to ensure that the Quadrennial Review is not used to justify unnecessary defense spending.

“Third, I will set a goal for a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert, and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenal.”

You can bet that Obama will not make this sweeping indictment of our security forces again as he tries to move to the center in the general election. But this is what he thinks, and this is what he plans to do.

His campaign Web site doesn’t list a separate category for military or defense under “Issues.” But search shows near-identical language there regarding nuclear weapons.

His plan, needless to say, is frighteningly irresponsible given the world threats.

While there is fat in the defense budget, defense spending both as a share of GDP and the total federal budget are still at historically low levels, despite the war.

And while cutting fat out of the defense budget is a worthy goal, Obama would cut beyond fat to bone.

Caucus for Priorities aims to redirect 15% of the Pentagon’s discretionary budget away from “obsolete Cold War weapons towards education, health care, job training, alternative energy development, world hunger and deficit-reduction.”

On the chopping block: the F-22 Raptor, the V-22 Osprey, the Virginia-class sub, the DDG-1,000 destroyer and the Army’s Future Combat System.

Cutting allegedly “unproven” missile defense systems is music to Kim Jong Il’s and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s ears, let alone all the PLA generals wishing our destruction.

Yet Obama wants to kill a program that’s yielding success after success, with both sea- and land-based systems. The military just this week intercepted a ballistic missile near Hawaii in a sea-based missile defense test.

Proposing “deep cuts in our nuclear arsenal” amounts to unilateral disarmament, and it’s suicidal given China’s and now Russia’s aggressive military buildup.

Meanwhile, Iran and North Korea threaten nuclear madness, and Osama bin Laden dreams of unleashing a nuclear 9/11 on America.

In contrast, John McCain has vowed: “We must continue to deploy a safe and reliable nuclear deterrent, robust missile defenses and superior conventional forces that are capable of defending the United States and our allies.”

We’ve been down this road before. President Clinton pursued a denuclearization program, including his 1995 pledge to sign a Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, and it led to him kicking open our nuclear labs to the Chinese, who proceeded to steal our warhead secrets and strengthen their own arsenal.

Like the Ben & Jerry’s crowd that supports him, Obama believes “real” national security is “humanitarian foreign aid” — essentially using our troops as international meals-on-wheels in Africa.

We’ve been down that road before, too, in Somalia and elsewhere. Thanks, but we don’t need a third Clinton, or a second Carter, term.

Your Whiteness is Showing:
An Open Letter to Certain White Women
Who are Threatening to Withhold Support From Barack Obama in November

By Tim Wise

June 5, 2008

This is an open letter to those white women who, despite their proclamations of progressivism, and supposedly because of their commitment to feminism, are threatening to withhold support from Barack Obama in November. You know who you are.

I know that it’s probably a bad time for this. Your disappointment at the electoral defeat of Senator Hillary Clinton is fresh, the sting is new, and the anger that animates many of you–who rightly point out that the media was often sexist in its treatment of the Senator–is raw, pure and justified.

That said, and despite the awkward timing, I need to ask you a few questions, and I hope you will take them in the spirit of solidarity with which they are genuinely intended. But before the questions, a statement if you don’t mind, or indeed, even if (as I suspect), you will mind it quite a bit.

First, for those of you threatening to actually vote for John McCain and to oppose Senator Obama, or to stay home in November and thereby increase the likelihood of McCain winning and Obama losing (despite the fact that the latter’s policy platform is virtually identical to Clinton’s while the former’s clearly is not), all the while claiming to be standing up for women…

For those threatening to vote for John McCain or to stay home and increase the odds of his winning (despite the fact that he once called his wife the c-word in public and is a staunch opponent of reproductive freedom and gender equity initiatives, such as comparable worth legislation), all the while claiming to be standing up for women…

For those threatening to vote for John McCain or to stay home and help ensure Barack Obama’s defeat, as a way to protest what you call Obama’s sexism (examples of which you seem to have difficulty coming up with), all the while claiming to be standing up for women…

Your whiteness is showing.

When I say your whiteness is showing this is what I mean: You claim that your opposition to Obama is an act of gender solidarity, in that women (and their male allies) need to stand up for women in the face of the sexist mistreatment of Clinton by the press. On this latter point–the one about the importance of standing up to the media for its often venal misogyny–you couldn’t be more correct. As the father of two young girls who will have to contend with the poison of patriarchy all their lives, or at least until such time as that system of oppression is eradicated, I will be the first to join the boycott of, or demonstration on, whatever media outlet you choose to make that point. But on the first part of the above equation–the part where you insist voting against Obama is about gender solidarity–you are, for lack of a better way to put it, completely full of crap. And what’s worse is that at some level I suspect you know it. Voting against Senator Obama is not about gender solidarity. It is an act of white racial bonding, and it is grotesque.

If it were gender solidarity you sought, you would by definition join with your black and brown sisters come November, and do what you know good and well they are going to do, in overwhelming numbers, which is vote for Barack Obama. But no. You are threatening to vote not like other women–you know, the ones who aren’t white like you and most of your friends–but rather, like white men! Needless to say it is high irony, bordering on the outright farcical, to believe that electorally bonding with white men, so as to elect McCain, is a rational strategy for promoting feminism and challenging patriarchy. You are not thinking and acting as women, but as white people. So here’s the first question: What the hell is that about?

And you wonder why women of color have, for so long, thought (by and large) that white so-called feminists were phony as hell? Sister please…

Your threats are not about standing up for women. They are only about standing up for the feelings of white women, and more to the point, the aspirations of one white woman. So don’t kid yourself. If you wanted to make a statement about the importance of supporting a woman, you wouldn’t need to vote for John McCain, or stay home, thereby producing the same likely result–a defeat for Obama. You could always have said you were going to go out and vote for Cynthia McKinney. After all, she is a woman, running with the Green Party, and she’s progressive, and she’s a feminist. But that isn’t your threat is it? No. You’re not threatening to vote for the woman, or even the feminist woman. Rather, you are threatening to vote for the white man, and to reject not only the black man who you feel stole Clinton’s birthright, but even the black woman in the race. And I wonder why? Could it be…?

See, I told you your whiteness was showing.

And now for a third question, and this is the biggie, so please take your time with it: How is it that you have managed to hold your nose all these years, just like a lot of us on the left, and vote for Democrats who we knew were horribly inadequate–Kerry, Gore, Clinton, Dukakis, right on down the uninspiring line–and yet, apparently can’t bring yourself to vote for Barack Obama? A man who, for all of his shortcomings (and there are several, as with all candidates put up by either of the two major corporate parties) is surely more progressive than any of those just mentioned. And how are we to understand that refusal–this sudden line in the proverbial sand–other than as a racist slap at a black man? You will vote for white men year after year after year–and are threatening to vote for another one just to make a point–but can’t bring yourself to vote for a black man, whose political views come much closer to your own, in all likelihood, than do the views of any of the white men you’ve supported before. How, other than as an act of racism, or perhaps as evidence of political insanity, is one to interpret such a thing?

See, black folks would have sucked it up, like they’ve had to do forever, and voted for Clinton had it come down to that. Indeed, they were on board the Hillary train early on, convinced that Obama had no chance to win and hoping for change, any change, from the reactionary agenda that has been so prevalent for so long in this culture. They would have supported the white woman–hell, for many black folks, before Obama showed his mettle they were downright excited to do so–but you won’t support the black man. And yet you have the audacity to insist that it is you who are the most loyal constituency of the Democratic Party, and the one before whom Party leaders should bow down, and whose feet must be kissed?

Your whiteness is showing.

Look, I couldn’t care less about the Party personally. I left the Democrats twenty years ago when they told me that my activism in the Central America solidarity and South African anti-apartheid movements made me a security risk, and that I wouldn’t be able to get clearance to be in some parade with Governor Dukakis. Yeah, seriously. But for you to act as though you are the indispensible voters, the most important, the ones whose views should be pandered to, whose every whim should be the basis for Party policy, is not only absurd, it is also racist in that it, a) ignores and treats as irrelevant the much more loyal constituency of black folks, without whom no Democrat would have won anything in the past twenty years (and indeed the racial gap favoring the Democrats among blacks is about six times larger than the gender gap favoring them among white women, relative to white men); and b) demonstrates the mentality of entitlement and superiority that has been long ingrained in us as white folks–so that we believe we have the right to dictate the terms of political engagement, and to determine the outcome, and to get our way, simply because for so long we have done just that.

But that day is done, whether you like it or not, and you are now left with two, and only two choices, so consider them carefully: the first is to stand now in solidarity with your black brothers and sisters and welcome the new day, and help to push it in a truly progressive and feminist and antiracist direction, while the second is to team up with white men to try and block the new day from dawning. Feel free to choose the latter. But if you do, please don’t insult your own intelligence, or ours, by insisting that you’ve done so as a radical political act.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 00:46:30

Marxism is NOT integrity. It’s the destruction of Democracy. I am not particularly interested. I am also not interested in pandering to middle eastern countries that set women on fire just for annoying their husbands or inlaws. You shouldn’t be interested either. I am now done with you, and nobody, let’s be sure here……nobody is going to threaten me into voting for someone I find objectionable to Democracy. I am also a moderate Democrat and so is the MAJORITY of this party. The fringe have tried to hijack us before and, just as before, we will have none of it.

Comment by Crystal M | 2008-06-08 01:23:33

Marxism? You people really are grasping at straws.

Even if I were to regurgitate your Republican talking points believe Obama was a Marxist, do you know how the American government WORKS? There are checks and balances that prevent radical legislation opposing the will of the people to pass.

But then again, I can see how you’d be scared, since Dubya has managed to make those checks all but disappear.

A legacy that his Republican successor McCain would be inheriting.

Down with Marxism, up with…Fascism??

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-06-08 02:12:54

I don’t think Obama truly has any strongly held beliefs. His only concern is himself. Judging from the manner in which he has campaigned and his past history, he would be a disaster as President. Even with his flaws, McCain is a far better choice.

And you Obama supporters should really stop using Dubya as a scare tactic, since Obama more closely resembles Dubya than McCain does. Obama shouldn’t have stolen Bush’s slogans of change and unity and conducted his campaign with the dishonest tactics from Bush’s playbook if he didn’t want us to notice the resemblance.

What’s so alarming about this attitude is that these authors don’t seem to recognize that they are simply being judgmental. It’s judgmentalism. Period.

If someone comes on here and actually talks abut race issues, then OK. Call it like it is. But to assume that one can figure out the “true” motives of another person based on a vote and then label that racism is so judmental and opinionated that I can’t imagine that this person is even very liberal, nevermind truly progressive.

It’s weird.

enough time wasted on you. won’t make that mistake again.

Comment by Crystal M | 2008-06-08 01:32:25

In the technical sense, you are right Andy. Being that I haven’t received a diploma yet, that would mean my education has been insufficient.

My intelligence and reasoning skills, however are more than adequate, which is more than I can say for you, or indeed anyone else I’ve had the “pleasure” of meeting on this site.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-06-08 02:24:15

Now, Crystal, that’s no way to establish a dialog and convince us to vote for Obama. Is it finally getting through to you what a hopeless cause that is? Oops. Didn’t mean to use one of Mr. Hopey/Changey’s buzzwords. Maybe it would be a more effective use of your time to go register some of those twenty-three million kazillion new voters he said he’d get.

Comment by Crystal M | 2008-06-08 03:06:12

Let’s not kid ourselves, Marcy. None of you are interested in dialog. You’re interested in settling a vendetta and finding like-minded people who will commiserate with you without letting that pesky “reality” get in the way.

And I helped to register people on my campus during our state’s primary.

But he isn’t the best man for the job. And that’s why John McCain will give him such an embarrassing and humiliating ass-kicking this fall. Obama probably hasn’t been the best person for any of the elective offices he has held — he just used underhanded tactics to remove the more qualified candidates, just like he did with Hillary. I’ll bet he’s in Arizona now trying to dig up some sealed divorce files on McCain. Has he said yet how happy he is to be in Alabama?

Comment by Crystal M | 2008-06-08 03:11:38

I’m sorry, but St. Hillary also used some dirty and underhanded tactics in her bid for the nomination. It’s called Politics.

Amazingly enough, had she won the nomination, I still would have voted her over McCain, because I’m a true democrat.

Here’s hoping you manage to make it into that wealthiest top 5% before November. That’s the only way your vote for McCain will do anything to improve you or your family’s live.

Let me see you defend that.

You assume we are all white women? That just proves how clueless you are! The fact that you don’t understand that ALL women feel betrayed by our party just shows how bigoted YOU are.

You want me to stand with my “black brothers and sisters”? You mean like Michael Nutter and Maya Angelou and Stephanie Tubbs Jones?

Don’t come over here and insult OUR intelligence with your crap. You’re just another Troll, albeit an extremely verbose one, you are a STARK REALITY TROLL! If you came here to make nicey-nicey or to appeal to us in a logical manner, you’ve failed. Your rant is one big insult thinly disguised as a boring dissertation. You’ve just managed to make yourself look like the wife beater at the door with flowers and candy.

STARK REALITY TROLL: Among themselves: “Oh shit…maybe we do need the Clintonistas in November!” To HRC supporters: “Come on, we’re all democrats, we need to pull together, can’t we just get along?”

How can I insult what isn’t there?

I’m no troll, just an Obama supporter who’s laughing at you sad, sad, bitter people.

Let McCain be elected. We can enjoy another 8 years of sending young American men and women to die in a war we can’t win, enjoy all those lovely Bush tax breaks (You ARE in the wealthiest top 5%, right?), and enjoy 40 years of a super-conservative Supreme Court hand crafted by GWB and McCain.

WE ALL WIN THEN! Right? Especially Hillary, whose important legislations will be vetoed on Prez McCain’s desk.

That’ll learn us Obama supporters! And everyone else in the process.

YAWN… Yep, you an Obama supporter indeed: it shows..

Why? Because I’m more interested in voting according to my beliefs than out of petty spite?

Dense is the word. In fact, it takes a special kind of DENSE to vote against one’s own morals and best interests.

That’s how the Republican party works. They prey on people who vote based on emotion than on logic.

That’s precisely how George W “I want to have a beer with him” Bush got into the White House in the first place.

Comment by Crystal M | 2008-06-08 00:51:16

Yep. I’m 20-something and here in front of the computer because I have to work tomorrow. When my older sibling was in school, he got loads of financial aid to pay his way through school. THAT was during the Clinton years.

Unfortunately I started school during Bush’s reign, so I’m not getting the sort of assistance my brother did. I have to work instead of being out with my friends.

Ouch, indeed.

Comment by OBAMA/MARXIST | 2008-06-08 01:33:38

Crystal,

So we are suppose to feel bad because you have to work to pay to go to college?

I am sorry you have to come up with something better than that in the real world you do not get pats on the back for doing something you should be doing.

How many kids do you think work some while going to college? What’s wrong with working? I bet you got a nice cell phone and internet and many other nice things.

This is something about some (and not all) of young people in their 20’s they think that work is not a good thing and its best to get things the easy way.

Instant gratification does not lead to long term happiness.

Going to college while a good thing is not the end all. What would you do without plumbers?

Because you are gonna need a good one to flush all the crap down that you are trying to push on us.

Get off your computer and go to bed.

I don’t recall asking anyone to feel bad for me OR to give me a pat on the back for working.

There seemed to be some confusion as to why a 20-something like myself would be in this sad place and I explained why: boredom.

You are reading far too much into what is probably the tamest comment I’ve posted to this site, which further proves to me how desperately you people are grasping at those straws.

I live in a college town and everywhere I go, from gas stations to the mall, I run into other students working their way through school. So please don’t try to lecture me about my generation’s work ethic.

Also, I’ll stay on my computer as long as I like, seeing as I paid for it myself.

Gee, Crystal, you’re getting so cranky I think your blood sugar may be low. Have another swig of koolaid. And maybe you should seek professional help to try to figure out why you are so masochistic as to spend so much time on a blog you profess to despise. On second thought, since you are supporting scummy, misogynistic Obama, your masochism is probably so ingrained that it could not be cured. Our thoughts will be with you, and we wish you the best — and the best candidate for President is McCain since your guy has stolen the nomination from Hillary.

Comment by Crystal M | 2008-06-08 03:37:30

I don’t need a professional to tell me why I’m here.
Being on sites like these reaffirms in my mind that people like you are actually on the fringe.

I’m sure that there are some Democrats whose decisions to back McCain are reactionary in the wake of Hillary’s loss.
But I’m here to see for myself just how far OUT there you guys are and trust me, you guys are as out there as it gets. That tells me one thing: you peole are a small number.
Your views and opinions are so radical and just plain non-nonsensical that your “movement” will not gain much traction. People generally gravitate toward the center of any conflict. And switching political affiliations is as extreme as it gets.
The majority of those who supported Hilary and swore off the Democratic party will come limping back once the reality of what ‘President McCain’ really means sets in.
Of course, there will be those, like the people on this blog–the ones who are really out there–who will remain obstinate and pig-headed in an effort to “show” the rest of us.

Being on this blog is actually what helps me sleep at night. Seeing the lunacy behind the Democrat turn-coat movement is what lets me know I’ll be seeing MY candidate make history this November.

The educational support today is awful. My son is putting himself through college now. (He blew the free ride offered….his story.)

But you did notice that Clinton was the was when it was reasonable.

Good catch.

I’m not entirely sure Obama is that tuned into what is needed.

McCain would support it. I “think.”

I’m just going to pay attention. The problem with Obama is he flip-flops, so I don’t trust his resolve.

McCain is different. He equivocates. He has a stance, but he’s campaigning now.

So I’ll pay attention. BTW, this entire cut-off of educational funds is a biggee on my list.

What you kids have to do today is what I had to do in the 70’s. It was ridiculous.

I got relief too, finally, with the change from Clinton. My grad school debts were reasonable.

But it’s absurd not to support you guys in college.

Tim,

My hands may be white but they are dirty from the ground I plow. I am a white farmer who lives in a small town. Not all of my family has gone to college but we get up every day to work our fields, drive our tractors and sometimes we wear shirts that have blue collars.

Please don’t talk down to me, don’t try to talk around me and please don’t address my ability to vote for the person I feel is most qualified to be president of the United States.

I work along side white, brown and black people on our farms. We each give to one another the respect we all deserve because we sweat together.

When next you purchase your groceries at Whole Foods and you look down and see a label from another country – you think about us.

We are the typical white people who cling to our religion and guns and never get bitter. We get up early and do it all over again the next day.

You Tim do not need to come here boasting your credentials of helping others. Do not play your white guilts games with us.

If your beloved wants to know how us little people who work our farms and wear blue collars feel, I suggest he put down the golf clubs and come see how the majority of America spends there time.

Your attempt to guilt us into voting will not work.

You need more than the benefits of unity to persuade me. This is when the diamond comes in handy. It’s not a canary diamond. It’s not an opal or a square shape. It’s a very special diamond called the Hillary diamond. Don’t come back before you get it.

All due respect to the original poster, I think that you are clearly voting soley on identity politics. If you look at the issues that Clinton stands for, you would listen to her call to help elect a Democrat. Women will be hurt by McCain. He is not moderate. Look beyond his claims to his actual votes. He is terrible on global warming. He is not for civil unions. He voted against his own immigration bill. He is currently running afoul of his own campaign finance legislation. I did not support Edwards because of misogyny or identity politics. I voted because of issues, and what I consider Democratic ideals to be. I would have been very proud to have Clinton as the nominee, and as the first woman president. Voting McCain and against the ideals for which Clinton has championed indicates you care nothing about the issues, only the gender of the candidate, which I would describe as sexism. In regards to the war, I disagree that it rests soley on the shoulders of Bush supporters. We all have allowed it to continue, we all play for it, we all assent to it with our compliance and silence. Electing McCain means more Americans will sacrifice their lives for nothing. Having friends who serve in Iraq, I can say that I care about the war, and that to wash your hands of it and yet vote for its continutation bespeaks a willful ignorance of its devestation.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 00:55:42

The bottom line this year, a year when a fairly elected nominee would have walked into the Oval Office without even breaking a sweat, two things come to the forefront!

This year Democracy is now at stake, a vote for Obama in August and November is approval of Selecting a nominee and not Electing a nominee, allowing Party leaders to bait and control theprocess for their own agendas and not those of the people, thus taking peoples voices from the rights of America!

This year, the writing on the wall was so evident to the GOP, the most liberal candidate the GOP could place atop the ballot will lead to the distruction of the Democratic Party and keep the GOP in the Oval office for another 4 years!

Obama and his team of thugs feel they can manipulate the GOP like they did a fellow Democrat, they have another thing coming. The acts of the DNP and the Obama thugs will continue to be in peoples faces this entire campaign season and rightly so, as it was the most disgusting exhibit of control ever exhibited in a free society!

So above Roe vs Wade, above an economy in dire straights lays the foundation of a country at stake, Democracy in a free society! Nothing is more important or basic an issue now than the choice between freedom and the desires and controls lost May 31st when transparency, peoples rights and democracy was dismissed by a small group concerned over the forward movement of a completely unqualified candidate!

Thank you NancyinCali! Wonderful article!

The last two presidential elections were decided by -
2000 Gore about 500,000 more votes.
2004 Kerry lost by about 2 million votes.

If even 1/7th of Hillary’s 18 million supporters defected (which by all polls show they will – by at least 30%) – Obama will lose in the biggest landslide in history. I know CA is going in McCain’s column – Schwarzenegger is a HUGE supporter of McCain’s and he and McCain present themselves as moderates. Without CA – Obama doesn’t have a chance in hell. New York might defect too as they see Obama as too dangerously inexperienced and naive about foreign affairs and the economy – as will many other formerly Democratic states. And once the “whitey” tape comes out – well, there goes the Democratic Party. Knowing the idiotic elites of the party, they would still nominate Obama after that tape is released. Nominating an anti-American, hate-whitey couple for the top job in America? Democratic Party will forever lose its credibility and trust among the American people – if they haven’t done so already.

It’s over – count me a Republican or Independent. And if the Republicans keep nominating moderates who will bring this huge debt down and get rid of this recession – heck, they have my vote and my party affiliation for future elections.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-06-08 05:18:32

I’d expect that NY will NOT go Obama — because the GOP will run ads of Rev. Wright making his crude and unfeeling remarks about the victims of 9/11 — just days after the planes hit the twin towers and the pentagon.

I look forward to the downfall of Obama!

“But for you to act as though you are the indispensible voters, the most important, the ones whose views should be pandered to, whose every whim should be the basis for Party policy, is not only absurd, it is also racist in that it, a) ignores and treats as irrelevant the much more loyal constituency of black folks, without whom no Democrat would have won anything in the past twenty years.”

Twisted logic. The Republicans held the real power in this country the duration of the Cold War. They have dominated the Supreme Court. The have consolidated power to the Presidency. The Republicans have not need the Black vote to win anything. Women represent a greater majority of voters than men, it is a genuine misnomer to call a woman a minority. The statistics prove otherwise. The Black vote will not win out over the Hispanic/Latino vote in this Country. John McCain is on point with Ted Kennedy on immigration. John McCain can capitilize on other Maverick Republicans, such as Schwarzenegger, and Maverick Democrats like Lieberman. The Democrat Party is divided by Race. Why? Barack Hussein Obama, David Axelrod, Rev. Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Father Pfleger, etc, etc. The Republican Party will win with the following coalition:

Woman for Hillary/McCain
Hispanics for Hillary/McCain
Working White men for Hillary/McCain/Edwards
Gun Owners
Patriots
The Jewish vote

What is Obama’s coalition? I would ask an Obama supporter to reply.

Yes, but considering the situation our country is in NOW, the continuation of Republican power would be the final death knell in our country’s future.
We are suffering from a failing economy, a war costing trillions(possibly more considering how fas the dollar is tanking)–for which the spilt blood of young American men and women is at once too high a price and not enough payment, as well as a massive energy crisis.

Our country is on a downward spiral. A spiral engineered by the same politics John McCain subscribes to.
HE IS NOT A MAVERICK ANYMORE. He hasn’t been for a long time now.
He is pandering fully to the conservative right, and he will owe them in FULL if he gets into the White House. The payment will be legislation favoring the will REPUBLICAN RIGHT and NOT the democratic party.

Let me ask you people a serious question, Do you really think Hillary Clinton is just going do DISAPPEAR if Obama to gets into the White House?
Do you really not think she’d make SURE she’d use a Democratic administration to her FULL ADVANTAGE? And further more, do you not think that Obama does not see what a powerful ally Sen. Clinton is? I’m not talking about vote getting.
I’m talking POST-General election. You don’t think Obama recognizes Clinton as someone who could actually help shape his own agenda and policies?

I mean are you people SERIOUSLY so dense that you can’t see ANY of this?

I’m willing to bet I’m easily 10 years younger than most of the posters here–I voted for the first time in the 2004 election when I was 20. So maybe I’m still a bit of an idealist, but I happen to believe that both Sens. Obama and Clinton could do great things for this country–and that will NEVER, NOT *EVER* happen with John McCain in the White House. He will NEVER work as closely with Hillary or the Clintons as Obama would.

I’m not even out of college yet, and it’s sad to me that people who have “more experience” than I do could be so short-sighted in favor of being indignant and spiteful.

More young people than ever are interested in this political race, mostly because it is OUR future that is being decided here. Thankfully most of those young people are attracted to Obama, someone who’s policies are quite close to Sen. Clinton’s.
WE are going to be out in full force this November, so vote all you want for McCain, meanwhile we’ll be doing the right thing and ensure that even sorry folks like you aren’t subjected to another four years of Bush.

Well, that’s nice deary, then you don’t need us, so leave. Being here just pisses us off more. Oh and I wouldn’t count on the youth vote being there for very long. You are a very fickle bunch. The moment you become aware Barky won’t make pot legal or end the Iraq war (he gets donations from GD and they don’t exactly make hybrid cars) you’l bail on him and let the republicans take back the House and Senate and leave him a lame duck. Just like the youth vote failed to help maitain the Democratic Majority under Clinton. But Barky is not nearly as smart as Clinton, he’ll go down in flames..if he even makes it that far.

actually, crystal. we own our homes. we paid off our educations before your parents forgot to take the pill. we get to retire. we look out at our pools and watch 20 somethings clean them. we make smart decisions.

we even support children who will have none of those things, because they make stupid decisions. they have the mistaken idea that our funds will always be their funds. at some point, we decide that it’s time for them to earn their own way. and they finally learn that bad decisions have consequences.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-06-08 02:52:36

I want to commend you, Crystal, for so dramatically demonstrating the bigotry of Obama and his supporters. That comment alone must have been worth about ten more votes for McCain. And Crystal, do I detect the strong scent of sour grapes in your koolaid? It’s not our fault you have fallen prey to the con game of Obama that causes you to resent and denigrate everyone you think may have more than you. Hillary was the one candidate who would have really done something to benefit students in particular and your generation generally. When you decided to support Mr. Hopey/Changey/EmptyPromises, you sealed your own fate.

We’re voting for McCain — the candidate best for the country and best for our old folks’ interests. If you get short-changed and feel all pissy, call Oprah and tell someone who cares.

I think even I am only one vote. I am in the “ardent Hillary supporter” category, yes. But the real reason Obama won’t get my vote is due to his lack of experience.

He’s just too green. It’s too big of a job. We don’t need a president with training wheels.

This is the same type of arrogance lead to the lost of McGovern.

That being said, unfortunately it’s too much to expect others to give Obama a pass on all his corrupt associates and dirty politics. It’s too much to expect others to condone the DNC hijacking the election. It’s too much
to expect me as woman to ignore the blatant misogyny by Obama his supporters and the MSM. I will
not vote for Obama in protest, as that is the only way I can send a message to the DNC. I have a voice and I will use it. If that upsets someone reading this, I’m sorry. Formally known as the Cook County Democratic Organization, the Daley machine was a hierarchy of elected officials who had two main jobs: to make as much money as possible for themselves and other members of the machine, and to make sure that all machine-backed candidates get elected. There were 8 main tenets for working in the machine:
Be faithful to those above you and repay those who are faithful to you
Back the whole machine slate, not individual candidates or programs
Be respectful of elected officials and party leaders
Never be ashamed of the party, and defend it proudly
Don’t ask questions
Stay on your own turf, and keep out of conflicts that don’t concern you
Never be first, since innovation brings with it risk
Most important of all, DON’T GET CAUGHT

The race card has been played to death. Frankly, I’m sick of it.

I’m not voting against “the” black man. I’m voting against “this” black man with a nonexistent record and/or list of accomplishments, who has a questionable history of relationships and financial dealings, who ran a deceptive campaign of soaring rhetoric and empty promises, who has flip-flopped on issue after issue, and . . .

It’s too wearisome to go on. But if anyone thinks I’m going to pull the lever for Barack Obama over white guilt, you’re nuts. And if our votes aren’t important then why come to a site like this only to provoke and argue and spew your rantings?

For a bunch of people who are considered dead enders and throw aways, we certainly are attracting a whole lot of attention. I suggest the Obamatrons go to a few other sites and tell working people they’re ignorant, racist and unimportant.

That’s sure to conjure up votes. See you in November.

A vote for McCain is a vote against issues that Clinton cares about and champions. A vote for McCain indicates that you care nothing for issues. I hope everyone here will examine at length the substantive differences between the Republican platform and the Democratic platform in this upcoming election. Bush has been a disaster, and McCain promises to follow his lead. I am tired of having people tortured and bombed and spied upon in my name. A vote for McCain legitmizes the last eight years, and sets the nation up for another ruinous eight.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-06-08 05:51:45

Oh my — I’d forgotten about Trinity church getting government handouts.

You know I can’t decide which is Obama’s worst sin — there are so many!

1. His long term association with despicable individuals.

2. His constant lying — flip flops changing the story.

3. Obama being an important (high up) part of the Chicago political crime family.

4. Obama’s racism

5. Obama’s sexism

6. Obama’s elitism — he is the ultimate snob.

7. His wife … a screaming racist.

8. His involvement in Kenya’s messy election.

9. Obama’s general inadequacy and laziness (no meetings held of his Senate committee.

10. Obama is a proven liar — NAFTA-gate.

I’m certain I’ve forgotten some key negatives that the GOP will use in the upcoming campaign.

McCain wins by a LANDSLIDE!!

You know after looking at this very short list — I do believe that Howie Dean etc. do NOT want to win. They want to keep doing nothing and blaming the Republicans!

It looks to me like Howie Dean etc. have gone out of their way to find a LOSER.

At Clinton finale, anger aimed at Chris Matthews, news media

WASHINGTON — Bettyjean Kling is tough, she’s mad and she’s about ready to kick some pasty MSNBC butt.

“Chris Matthews, I can’t even look at him anymore,” Kling spat as she waited for Hillary Clinton to take the stage. “What’s the name of that other nut?”

“Keith Olbermann,” offered a friend.

“Keith Obama-man,” growled Kling, a retired special ed teacher from Shippensburg, Pa.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign valedictory was “the very definition of bittersweet,” said Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., a longtime Clinton supporter, who insisted that the greater goal of a Democratic White House would unite those who gathered on a steamy day in the cavernous main hall of the National Building Museum.

It seemed to be more bitter than sweet for many, however, with special acid reserved for the media. Several of the hundreds gathered here said they thought that unfair news coverage helped Illinois Sen. Barack Obama win the Democratic presidential nomination. Other common culprits were the Democratic National Committee and the party superdelegates, who helped swing the nomination to Obama in the last few weeks.

I could have written this post, and if I didn’t know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I didn’t, I would swear I did. Right down to the statement that you supported Kerry even though you weren’t all that excited about him.

Every argument you made for McCain are the same ones I’ve had floating in my head since before Clinton suspended her campaign, just in case she actually doesn’t get the nomination.

But I keep affirming that the Super Delegates, along with the pledged delegates on the second ballot, will vote Clinton. Neither can win on the first ballot because it’s only for the pledged delegates. But after that, two things happen…the pledged delegates are released to vote their conscience, and the Super Delegates can vote. And their vote is secret, so no one will actually know who voted for whom.

I’m not sure what the “Tank” is, but I’m not espousing talking points. Its just that on so many issues I’m sick of what Republicans have done to this nation. I feel that the issues go beyond the indentity of the candidates involved. I know that not many here agree with me, but I am trying to engage in a conversation about where we are headed if McCain is president. If you were a Clinton supporter, it would strike me that you would care about the issues that are important to Democrats. I just don’t see how anyone who would vote Democrat would allow a continuation of what we’ve gone through under Bush. I have friends and co-workers that have fought in Iraq…needlessly so, in my opinion. I have friends that have lost jobs in the mortgage business. I guess I feel that the issues in the primary, and I agree it was a disaster, are secondary to more Republican governance. I don’t consider myself to be a troll despite not sharing your exact political point of view. My goal is not to annoy or offend, but to engage in a dialogue. I would imagine that no matter how deeply you feel about the issue, you can at least disagree with me in a cogent manner without believing me to be the enemy or an operative.

For Darren who claims Obama has more experiencethan Abe Lincoln had when he ran for president:

Abe Lincoln held political office starting in 1834 and held four successive terms in the Illinois House of Representatives. He was elected to a term in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1846. In 1854 he was instrumental in forming the new Republican Party. In 1860 he ran for President.

Interesting how even while you guys pat each other on the back for selling out your ideals and hyperventilate about nonexistent video tapes, Obama has pulled ahead of McCain in the polls outside the MOE and now has the support of 80% of Dems (up from 60-70%) in the latest Rasmussen. Favored in the electoral map 311-227. All this before Hillary’s speech. Something tells me you guys will be on the losing end this year, but, no worries, I’m sure you’ll still be uncovering huge make-believe Obama scandals a year from now while LJ rakes in the ad dollars. Hell, he’s probably laughing at you too while he counts the money.

It’s a long way to November, sweetie.

Obama’s chickens will come home to roost.

Comment by Fakepilot | 2008-06-08 00:52:43

Sure, don’t lose the faith. I bet that whitey tape will be out any day now.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-06-08 06:01:12

The tape will show up in October when it will do the most damage and have the most shock value!!

And I will be laughing at you idiots!

But thanks for showing up and reminding me exactly why I’ll be voting for McCain.

thanks to you Trolls I’ve abandoned the idea of writing in Clinton’s name. I like the idea of my vote for McCain is TWO votes against Obama. I like that kind of math!

Actually, it’s a long way to AUGUST.

Comment by 30yrdem | 2008-06-08 00:41:49

Obama should have taken a 10 point jump in those polls after Tuesday and it is not happening …

Comment by Fakepilot | 2008-06-08 00:48:31

I don’t think a 10-point jump is realistic. Did McCain get a 10 point bump after he won the nomination? But I do think he’ll be 5-7 points ahead consistently after next week.

Comment by Orlando Potato | 2008-06-08 00:57:22

McCain is a DISASTER for the Republican Party, He`s just a poor tired old pinata.
Even a blindfolded child could beat him.

Comment by Fakepilot | 2008-06-08 01:05:58

LOL did you see his “rebuttal” to Obama this week? I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone get laughed out of the room at both The Daily Show and Fox News. Someone on his own campaign conference call asked if he needed to practice making speeches more. It’s going to be a fun election.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 01:35:58

The left wing fringe offended so much of the electorate, particularly the moderate MAJORITY of the Democratic party, that they went out and voted for Nixon over McGovern. Barack Obama will get the same courtesy, because moderates don’t want radicals running America.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 01:36:43

Same for Dukakis.

Comment by Fakepilot | 2008-06-08 01:49:27

You’ve been drinking the Kool Aid for too long. Someone like Kucinich is a radical, left wing fringe type. Obama is a moderate. Most people care more about real issues rather than the tabloid gossip kinda stuff you guys base your decisions on, fortunately.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-08 02:06:13

Obama is a moderate?!! The guy who said he would sit down with any rogue leader in his first term and talk without preconditions. The guy who wants to raise SS taxes 30% The guy who thinks above 72K is where you start taxing the shit out of people? The guy who wants to mandate child healthcare? That sounds pretty left to me.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 02:07:20

so true, uppity.

the bots who laugh at mccain’s less than stellar speech delivery should look at how unattractive nixon was. he reminded most people of something slimy (which turned out to be true).

yet he still won in a landslide. actually, two landslides, and largely in reaction to that time’s version of today’s obamabots.

back then, i was shocked, shocked, i tell you, that my candidates lost and the slimy nixon won. this year, the bots will get to experience that reality check. and i’ll rotflmao.

LOL, good point, I guess if you are willing to support such a sad candidate that stands against everything you care about you must really hate Obama.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 01:06:22

Mccain is the encumbent party.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-08 00:53:17

Could be, but everyone I talk to admits openly that they’re not voting for him. They are going for McCain based on experience.

These are people mad or even invested in Hillary’s campaign.

However, McCain is looking to be the choice among my crowd. The problem is that Obama is going to raise their taxes and for what? His platform isn’t that attractive to warrant money at this point.

The economy is too shaky for him.

McCain will pull in that group, and it’ll have nothing to do with backlash or spite or racism or any of that other silly stuff bloggers love to obsess about.

Regular people vote their pocketbooks unless there’s a compelling reason to do otherwise.

Comment by Fakepilot | 2008-06-08 01:21:22

You think “regular people” voting their pocketbooks will vote McCain? He doesn’t really have an economic program to speak of except “don’t regulate stuff.” His bed bud is Phil Gramm, who helped pave the way for the subprime crisis. Naw, people will vote McCain based on blind hatred, or stupid issues like Obama not wearing a lapel pin, not the issues. Hence the content of this site.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 01:28:31

As a moderate, I know Barack Obama’s plan. Out of my pocket into yours. Or to quote Michelle “Give me a piece of your pie”.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-08 01:30:22

pocketbook isn’t economic plan.

Strictly taxes, baby. LOL*

All about taxes.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-08 01:31:20

I should also add that I live in an area where dual-income, 6 figures is pretty much the norm.

They will get killed by Obama.

Comment by Fakepilot | 2008-06-08 01:38:23

Uh…BOTH Obama and Hillary want to roll back the Bush tax cuts on those making around 200k (not just six figures). Suddenly McCain’s non-existent plan is better than Hillary’s? LOL

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-08 02:02:20

Hillary had a 250K cutoff.

That’s doable.

Obama is over 100K

ouch!

Big difference.

And Hillary had a cap on the capital gains. Bit higher, but it wouldn’t have killed us who have stock portfolios.

Obama was deadly on that. He’s excusing it saying he’s after the bad guys. Everyone who is retired is a bad guy in his plan.

McCain? McCain leaves everything alone. LOL*

I like McCain’s tax plan a LOT

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 02:12:41

Well for starters, Barky says he will raise the capital gain taxes to 25%. I made many sacrifices to save and invest my earnings so that I could have life easy before I got old. Furthermore, I paid for my own college. Three times. Using my own money. I saved and I invested and I did well under BILL CLINTON and I highly resent somebody telling me that I have to give him 25 percent of it so he can send it to Africa and put a NO PLAN in place for UNUNIVERAL HEALTH CARE that is absolutely a useless hoax.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 03:00:42

Hillary had an absolute Universal Health care plan. I read both of them. One is a plan the other is a hoax. Did YOU read both of them?

Comment by Fakepilot | 2008-06-08 01:56:00

I’m just trying to gain some insight on the mindset here. It’s not pretty, at the same time hard to look away, kind of like driving by an accident.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-08 02:05:14

How rude. I will never understand this need to be rude to people on-line. I consider blogs as real groups of people. I’d never walk into someone else’s group and make rude remarks.

I read a ton of blogs I don’t agree with and never leave a message.

Those of you who do this really floor me with your lack of connection with people.

I wonder if you have a real life and real people at all in your lives.

Otherwise, I don’t think you could do this type of acting out.

Comment by Fakepilot | 2008-06-08 02:14:54

Hey, I don’t mean to be rude, I just find this site to be extremely over the top. I mean, you have to admit, every single post on this site is negative, pretty much. It’s mostly tabloid type stuff, the kind of thing you see at the supermarket while waiting in line.

In that environment, I find it highly amusing that you are so offended when I pop in and leave a few comments. Take a look at Uppity Woman’s expletive-laden response to me halfway up the page. It seems like an atmosphere of anything goes here.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 02:19:12

Looks a lot like markos looked to me. What makes you pigs think you have the patent on “anything goes”?

You find it over the top? Then leave.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-08 02:19:19

Happy to amuse you. I’m not “highly offended.” I enjoy blogging because I don’t get that emotionally involved.

I was stating my thoughts. I see similar rude remarks left at pro-Hillary blogs all over the place.

It’s sick behavior, in my opinion.

As for Uppity, she’s definitely a colorful and straight shooter. I laugh a lot when I read her responses because I agree 90% of the time. I don’t agree about the Marxist stuff, but that’s about all. The rest? The way she nails the heart of the matter?

I admire that.

Me? I’ve still got way too much nice in me. LOL*

One day…….:)

Comment by Fakepilot | 2008-06-08 02:45:47

Well you know, the rude remarks are not unique to Obama supporters. You will find similar comments on just about any political site.

The difference is that most sites are dedicated to a constructive purpose of some kind. Whereas this site is just completely anti Obama, in support of a campaign that no longer exists. Rather sad in my opinion, but if that’s how you choose to spend your time, who am I to criticize? All I can say is that this site looks rather, uh, extreme, to the casual reader.

But no worries. Carry on in your Obama bashing and half-hearted McCain supporting. I’ll check back in a month or so, or any time I need a quick laugh.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-08 03:05:18

How silly. I did read KOS the other day for some reason. The posts there are far more abusive.

You’re just an asshole.

We don’t find you pretty either. Furthermore this is NOT an Obama site. We were thrown off of Obama sites and you will soon be thrown off of here if you don’t stop being an asshole. We do not want your candidate. What part of that do you not understand? And you are gaining nothing by being here except to be just one more miserable pushy, threatening arrogant Obama asshole. We want none of you. Get lost.

I’m sure they are all in it partly for the $$, Uppity. Markos just happens to have a (much) bigger audience.

Just don’t fool yourself as to this site’s intentions. You think the whole “whitey” tape scam didn’t have to do with driving up page views for a few days?

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-08 02:09:18

Not really. I believed Larry when he posted just this week that he makes no money off of this.

I’m sure he’d be happy to break even.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-08 02:15:51

HRC supporters – it hit me tonight that we can do something constructive to show our displeasure regarding the outcome of the Democratic primaries. Unfortunately, I saw Keith Olbermann say that if Barack loses, it’s all Hillary’s fault. I was in absolute disbelief. I’ve sent MSNBC e-mails, etc., but to no avail.

So, here’s my idea. Let’s set up Operation Payback (Nins – you get credit for the name after thinking I was involved in Operation Chaos). As of today, I’ve cancelled my subscription to Newsweek and will NEVER watch MSNBC again. My relatives have done the same. If we hit these media outlets who have so mistreated Hillary in the pocketbook, maybe we can at least address some of the anger we’re all feeling.

Obama supporters – do us all a favor and stay out of this with putdown comments. I think that this gives HRC supporters something we can do that is constructive and places blame (at least from my perspective) where it is due.

Hillary supporters – what do you think? If we pass this along to our friends, families and post it everywhere, I think we can make a difference.

Comment by 30yrdem | 2008-06-08 00:46:38

I think people have been boycotting MSNBC for a long time now at least a month maybe two and I have seen a lot of post where people have canceled Newsweek and even the NYT…I know I have heard MSNBC has dropped in the ratings.

Comment by ame | 2008-06-08 01:04:28

I refuse to watch MSNBC anymore. The pro-Obama, anti-Clinton propaganda sickens me. I hope their ratings go down.
