Barack Obama: We Know The Deal

NOTE: See our post and videos about Harriet Christian, the woman featured in this new video.

The text description of this new video is below:

Written on June 7, 2008 as an accompaniment to the video, by TravisTCleveland:

The Junior Senator from New York, Hillary Clinton, has recently put her tenuous endorsement behind the Junior Senator from Illinois, Barack Obama. We know that she had little choice, and pressure was mounting within the Democrat Party elite for her to exit the race; because of this, we can’t fault her for it. She looked quite sad as she delivered the closing speech.

Tomorrow, things will go back to normal. Republicans will be on one side of the aisle, and she will be on the other; but, for today, we wish her well.

Watch this 90 second Ad. What do you think of her endorsement?

For those voting for McCain because he’s a “maverick”, let’s not fool ourselves here. Being a McCainBot isn’t any better than being an ObamaBot.

McCain isn’t a maverick. He flip-flopped on the war, he flip-flopped on Bush’s tax cuts for the rich, he flip-flopped on warrantless wiretaps, and he voted with Bush 95% of the time in the Senate last year.

Bush and McCain are very, very close on the issues. And McCain stands very far apart on the issues from Hillary.

If you’re a true Hillary supporter, I don’t understand how you could vote for McCain. He doesn’t support her stance on Iraq, the economy, universal health care, education reform, and a lot more.

Comment by ulahane | 2008-06-08 14:52:35

Very simple. I believe Clinton and McCain care about this country; I believe, with all my heart, that Obama doesn’t.

I do not believe that anyone who has given money to Wright and Pfleger should ever be allowed to be president.

Comment by Hillary or Bust | 2008-06-08 14:53:32

I think Hillary is doing this because she has integrity, and could never support a person like McCain who stands against everything she has fought for over her 40 years of public service.

Remember, if McCain is elected, it will be another Bush term. The consequences for our country will be devastating. And he’ll never support Hillary’s stance on universal health care or ending the war in Iraq.

Strawberry,What do you mean ‘comment warning’?

Comment by Strawberry | 2008-06-08 15:40:32

I’m guessing that I was responding to a troll comment that disappeared and therefore my comment was ‘disappeared’ as well. But when I went to comment again on a different diary there was this big black bold warning above the comment block, about one of my comments with an unlinkable link, so I’m not sure which one got offed. Damn, one of my little bits of blue collar wisdom thrown into the dark pit of despair. Haha.

This is just too sad. Yes she looked sad and she said what she had to. If you notice she didn’t smile nor had her passion behind the words when she talked about BO. She didn’t say she belived in him or admired him. She was very very careful she was endorsing BO b/c he was teh Democratic nominne. She mention Dem issues and then said and that’s why have to elect BO. Not because of BO was better, nor b/c she thought he had good positions or character or enything. She just talked about his determination and grit. Many people have mentioned this and I think they are correct. She seme like a POW when reciting the DNC talkig points about BO.
She only relaxed, smiled and warmed up late ron whane talking about her passion about the issues she cares, about women and “the poeple”.
Her comments about the CiC question and Obama were quite telling.
She never said he would be a great president; and she did not utter one critisicm of McCain.
Interesting.

Her support was b/c she is a Dem. NOT b/c of who BO is. That was crystal clear.

Great video. Harriet Christian would make a better president than BO. At least she states what she believes in.

Andy, I am borrowing a quote from Anglachel’s Journal in response to your observation. I think she was very smart to give the speech she gave, yesterday.

At no point does she say that she lost, was beaten, was defeated, not even the hoary old “the voters have spoken”. She doesn’t even bother with that. 18 million supporters. She talks about who supports her and who she is dedicated to. She makes clear that she has been the recipient of so much support for all the right reasons.

Hillary is the leader of half the Democratic Party. She knows it. The DNC knows it. She commands more loyalty of more people within the party than anyone else

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-06-08 15:05:27

I ached for her when I watched the speech. You could see tears in her eyes, and she looked like she hadn’t slept for a couple of days.

Comment by LN | 2008-06-08 15:11:22

Yes, she looked just like the political hostage she was…the gun to her head, ready to fire. I don’t think for one minute her endorsement was what she really felt inside. It must have taken everything she could muster to get up and make that speech.

I will NEVER forget what the DNC, the media, the political pundits and the obamatrons did to her…a woman of honor, maturity, courage, faith, graciousness, experience, toughness and intelligence.

Barak Hussein Obama isn’t fit to be her administrative assistant.

Comment by felizarte | 2008-06-08 15:12:55

A slight modification on the above post:

Republicans will be republicans again; Democrats will be Democrats as usual, but minus the Hillary supporters who will NEVER vote for Obama and many plan to vote for mcCain.

Comment by LN | 2008-06-08 15:16:37

No, I don’t think the Democrats will be Democrats as usual, because, as you point out, their traditional political base will desert them and their parade of ultra left-wing liberals and thugs will/have taken over the party.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-06-08 15:36:33

I agree — the democrat party has abandoned a huge segment of Americans. The DNC essentially flipped of every group except African Americans and “the creative class” (whatever the hell that means).

Every day we see the sort of idiots left in the party — they come here to insult and call us names. These creeps are an example of the thugs who invaded the caucuses.

Comment by Judith | 2008-06-08 16:38:48

I agree. I think the thugs have taken over. You need only to read comments at huffnpuff to know that. The very best thing for our Party would be for Obama to lose by a landslide.

Comment by Linda C. | 2008-06-08 18:29:41

I would politely ask that you don’t call these people liberals. I am a liberal and I find it to be insulting. I prefer to call them the ineffectuals

Comment by felizarte | 2008-06-08 15:18:25

As for me, seeing how Hillary and her supporters have been treated; the primary process having been so corrupted; and the nominating process actually a charade where the outcome was determined behind closed doors . . .

There is nothing anyone can say to me, whether it is Hillary or Ophrah that would keep me from voting against Obama and validate what the present Dem leadership has perpetrated. So I am NOT staying at home and not vote; I am NOT going to vote for a third party candidate who has no chance of winning; and I WILL VOTE FOR MCCAIN so that he can defeat Obama. THAT IS HOW ANGRY I AM!

Comment by William | 2008-06-08 15:20:42

No one should ever forget that because of DNC corruption and plotting, Hillary had this nomination stolen from her. Black votes were allowed to count for more than White or Hispanic votes, in virtually every major state. Caucuses were completely unfair; there were documented abuses all over, which apparently are not going to be even heard by the DNC. And then, as the cherry on the poisoned sundae, the DNC refused to seat Florida and Michigan as voted, and then stole actual delegates from Hillary and gave them to Obama.
No one should ever think that this is simply a case of Hillary losing fair and square and being sad. She was cheated, and then pushed out by Democrats who threatened her very political future, unless she get in line and play ball with the corrupt people who thwarted her. And she was probably terribly sad knowing that Obama is not qualified, that he is vindictive and will try to purge every dissenting voice from the party, and that she is infinitely more competent and more attuned to the needs and hopes of ordinary working-class Americans. No wonder she looked as if she might have been crying. Millions of us feel the exact same way.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-06-08 15:42:32

Oh yes — you hit the nail on the head.

Obama is a very vindictive personality type.

His mother somehow slighted him — and he has gone out of his way to turn her into a monster. Yet his father who abandoned him — this is the creature he idealizes.

If the worst happens — and Obama gets the keys to the white house — he will punish the states that didn’t vote for him and all of his political opposition.

Comment by wry | 2008-06-08 16:28:50

Actually his Mother abandoned him too. With two ambitious irresponsible people like this for parents, it’s no wonder he chose to reinvent himself out of whole cloth.

When you live in a dreamworld, you must wake up sooner or later.

This video can try to stir my emotions, but my mind was always clear.

I knew she was going against the current of a party that has dangerously moved to the far left.

I knew Hussain is an ego maniac who sold his soul to tbe higher bettor: big money msm conglomerate and capitalists. He will back stab the rest of his “coalition”.

I knew his coalition was poison, but strong enough to destroy her.

I know her chances are over. For ever. No Hillary,POTUS.

Yes, I wish she was our candidate. As a New Yorker, I will continue to support her. And I do have a personal affection for her, as an individual. I think she’s great.

I want to move on. I don’t want to dwell on what could have, i don’t want to be sad.

I want to start working to make sure Hussain and his coalition doesn’t make it to the WH.

That’s all that matters.

VOTE THE MAC FOR POTUS. HE SUCKS BUT HE’S OUR ONLY TOOL TO KEEP THE OBAMATHUGS OUT.

Comment by not bitter | 2008-06-08 15:28:10

At least Obama would protect our country from the illegal invasion.

McCain supports full amnesty for illegal immigrants. That’s right, he wants to grant citizenship to the 20 million illegals in our country.

What do you think people in Mexico will be thinking once they see that? If you thought the illegal immigration problem was bad before, wait until McCain starts handing out free citizenship.

Please also be mindful that not only was MSN, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, etc., perpetrators of the misogyny, so too were the so-called progressive magazine (The Nation, Mother Jones) and Radio (Air America, Clear Channel with Ed Schultz and Stephanie Miller and NovaM) outlets.

I cancelled months ago all of these magazine subscriptions and podcasts. Right now the people listening to these stations and reading these periodicals are the libertarian elites and hard core Obama student supporters. They will stop when their “messiah” loses in November. That is what is keeping them going at the present. Those of us who have supported them up until this election cycle, found we were no longer wanted or comfortable with the spun Obama narrative they were espousing. We were the ones who have kept them going this long financially. When the disappointed kiddies stop reading and tuning in, they will again turn to us. Be mindful of that.

After McCain wins in November, these same outlets will make the standard mea culpas, hoping that we will come back and listen to them bitch about another Republican administration, that their own vilification of Clinton, got elected in the first place.

They all need to go down the tubes. Do not be duped into returning after the election. We have seen them for who they really are. We need to create new media, radio, and periodical outlets to replace these propaganda rags!!

Most writers also wrote for Chuck Todd and First Read .

This one appeared constanly on MSNBC as unbiased, until last few weeks.

Then: “Linda Douglass, an award-winning television and print journalist who currently serves as a contributing editor to National Journal, will join Barack Obama’s campaign.”

I couldn’t watch Hillary’s speech. My emotions were and are anger, not sadness.

Hillary said all along that she would endorse the Democratic Party’s nominee. She did in a manner of speaking. She endorsed Obama, who became the Party’s presumptive nominee after the “suspension” of her campaign and after someone either issued ultimatums or threats to her or pulled the rug out from under her.

I wonder, if in making her decision about what steps to take and when to take them, she asked herself what good would it do to let the voters in on what has been going on behind the scenes. She should have. That would have been revolutionary. That would have been pulverized the glass ceiling, not just cracked it.

Politicians in recent years like to use the word transparency. There has been nothing transparent about what has been going on here.

Instead of making the speech she made Saturday, I think Hillary could have done everyone, including herself, alot of good, if she would have just come out and told us who was pressuring her, what they were saying to her, and what her choices were. Tell it like it is, even if it’s ugly and disgusting; even it loses a few, or even many, phoney friends.

The voters are the ones she should be answering to, not the corrupt politicos in the Democratic Party.

The right to chose is being used to tie the hands of women to a particular party, a party whose leaders have clearly demonstrated by both their words and actions this primary season that they do not actually respect women. They are now exhibiting an ugly willingness to bully women into submission by using exaggerated threats against our basic rights.

If the basic rights of women were so important to them, those rights would be more secure by now. It is unreal that for approximately my entire life time, the threat of over turning Roe v. Wade has been used to motivate women to vote for Democrats. These threats regarding the appointment of conservative sumpreme court justices are sickening.

I will not vote for a candidate I view as unqualified for the position, and the threatening and dismissive behavior is just pushing me farther away from the Democratic Party. The Party has turned into a dsyfunctional family, and for my own good I must walk away.

Although there is a chance for some short term damage, on a long term basis I don’t believe walking away will harm Hillary’s past hard work, rather it will let the Party know that it can no longer take women for granted. Walking away will let the Party know that it was not okay for the leaders to remain silent when two women who have dedicated their lives to the Party were being viciously attacked by the media (Hillary and Geraldine). Walking away will let the Party know that if they want my vote, they’re going to have to work hard for it and show me some respet.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-08 19:00:54

Personally, I don’t go along with all this public apology stuff. I laughed when the Republican speaker insulted Obama horribly, was called out, and issued a sacharine sweet apology. Ditto for the priest who insulted Hillary.

Apologies are a waste of time and breath and keep the issue going.

The only thing that matters are actions. Change or don’t. The priest went right on to give yet another rant against Hillary at his church the next week. Clearly, he wasn’t in the least bit sorry.

The Catholic Church put him on a 2 week paid vacation and are hoping we will forget.

But he’ll be back, preaching his hatred in the name of the Catholic Church again. They never have gotten rid of that jerk.

So apologies?

Worthless.

It is hard to believe that so many of you subscribe to conspiracy theories. What motive could induce the DNC to push Hillary out? And why did none of you protest vociferously when the rules eliminating Florida and Michigan were promulgated before January. This never became an issue until Clinton and her supporters realized that counting these excluded delegates would benefit her candidacy. Wake up and come back to reality. It was a fair election for Democratic nominee.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-08 19:04:50

The DNC just want a president in their pocket. That’s all. It’s all about power and making sure the Clintons don’t have it. The Clintons never were insiders. Obama just used the old Republican lies to stir up that crap, and the DNC acted like hyenas on the kill everytime she dared to campaign.

If you can’t see it, then you’re stupid.

As for fair? Nobody in the country thinks it was fair.

Shoot, nobody in the world does.

He even took 4 earned delegates from her.

The jerk is just a Chicago thief, in bed with the likes of Rezko and Wright.

If you find him acceptable, dandy.

But don’t even think of talking to 40% of us and think we will ever agree.

We have left the Democratic Party because of the “fair” election.

Congratulations.

WASHINGTON – RNC Chairman Robert M. “Mike” Duncan released the following statement today:

“Even as Senator Clinton concedes her candidacy and endorses Barack Obama today, it’s clear the Democrat Party is struggling desperately to unify. Senator Clinton was correct to question Obama’s naïveté and inexperience, and those concerns remain for all voters nationwide. As Senator Clinton and other Democrats have clearly stated, their Party will struggle to coalesce behind Barack Obama.

“I am confident voters across America will reject Barack Obama on Election Day, just as half of his Party already has – and with good reason. Barack Obama’s inexperience, poor judgment, and fundamental lack of understanding of issues that matter most to Americans are becoming more visible every day. As voters become more familiar with Barack Obama’s record in the coming months, they too will see why he is not qualified to be Commander in Chief.

I watch these wonderful videos made for Hillary by these enormously creative people. They are really great art and they will be lost in time in the cacophony of the rest of the at best mediocre stuff on you tube.

Really, irrespective of how they can help the cause of Hillary, and they will help a lot, these videos would be a priviledge and an emotional and spiritual experience to watch for about 17 of the 18 million supporters who do not go to blogs or you tube or even have little interaction with the internet because they are toiling to earn their living, taking care of their children and parents and holding 2 jobs and generally tottering on the not so good experience that is the daily lot of most people.

I am wondering if some sort of concerts cannot be organized in small towns to showcase the work of these immensely talented artists. A compilation of 40-50 3 minute videos would span 1 to 1 1/2 hrs and I am sure Hillary supporters in smaller towns and would definitely give up going to a movie to come watch. Mothers will come with their daughters to show them what they can be and with their sons to teach respect. It would be like woodstock, without the other stuff off course. Al one would need is some AV equipment and people to have a nice party and they can have a blast and a reminder to keep faith. And of course an inimitable experience that they can cherish till 2012 if they have to.

proudmillitarymom -you are wrong..Hillary is the best choice but the democractic party leaders did so wrong to their own democrt and Hillary’s supporters.stesling, takeing and having their pro msnbc-nbc-cnn and more bash Hillary and say such sexist things of here is just down right ugly and nasty. The democratic party leaders had this planned for years 2004 for barack Obama. How wpouild you like it as running ad candidate and put bricks on your back.Hillary has done for all people and racs and colar.Obama have you looked at his ill records 1999-2000-2001-2003-2004-2005-2006?It was just around the begaining of the race that he voted on issues that he had voted down or present for.Obama is not telling the truth and if you are a millitarymom you should know about the dangers we face with terrorist.
I don’t agree with the war.but it was not Hillary who voted for the war.Hillary voted to give President Bush permisstion to do something if in fact we will be attack or mass detructions. What Bush did is what Bush did.Hillary and others has signed to just lrt Bush take action if needed.Hilary even written a letter to Bush on what she though.

Obama is the one who flips and flops. If you have watch him in the campaign and msnbc-You will see.Obama plans on sending troops to pakistan.Yes he said that.Obama said he was going to raise the pay roll tax and the capitol gains taxs.which will double the capitol gains tax.and the middle class it willhurt.there is so many things that Obama said.no preconditions. You must not watch much.

It’s Hillary or McCain-08 9Obama is not and never be an opition!)
The democratic party laeaders did so wrong and out in the open at first and tried to hide it but they did a very poor jobs at it as millions sat and watch the mistreatment of Hillary and she had evry right to run as president without the media.Obama the denmocratic party leaders calling her out that she was hurting the democratic party, how? Just because she was out there and the democratic party wanted her out and so they say she was hurting the democratic party when it was the democratic party who was doing the hurting to their own democratic party.Obama takes speeches from the past and from others now. His plans as MSNBC and the democratic pparty say’s they are almost alike, well sure because they are Hillary’s plans Obama just took a little out and add just a little. Obama is a fake.He will not get in front of press unless it’s his press on the plan that was leaned to him.Obama pays for nothing you thinlk he raises that much money.oh no-it comes from people who are in his campaign now as well as Obama that has connection with terrorist, yes terrorist who had did harm to our penagon and capitol and more.Bill Ayers for one. Debate Obama was ask the question on Ayers.Obama said well uh see this is just is what I am talking about people still connects me to someone I knew at the age of 8. He went on.Hillary was ask to respond…She said well Obama knew Ayers well after the age of 8.Infact aryes and Obama worked togethere even after he knew what Ayers did,Ayers also gave Obama money to fund his race for the senate and now the presidential race as well as Rezko. and more terrorist.Obama is not who he says he is.He ducks question runs when someone ask him.In some of his campaign he talks bad of Hillary and John McCian instead of taling on the issues. Now it’s John McCain he is attacking and he attack omly when he is on the Just like he did Hillary. He has msnbc to do his most dirty work.Obama is an emtry shell a user of all race and color.see nothing in Obama but just a fake shell. He goes on the blogs to see whats going on or his campagine. It’s really weird when people are talking on things and b-i-n-g- Obama is talikg about it.I guess he gets his pointer for the people. He is such a FAKE!I WILL NEVER SUPPORT OBAMA OR VOTE OBAMA OR SUPORTE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY LEADERS OR THOSE WHO DID HILARY WRONG.WE HILLARY SUPPORTERS WILL STAND OUR GROUNDS-OBAMA IS NOT FIT TO BE PRESIDENT OF U.S.A.! I WILL STAND MY GROUND.OUR COUTRY IS O IMPORTANT TO LET OBAMA IN HIS BAD JUDGEMENTS HIS COPY SPEECHS,HIS POLICYS OF OTHER HE TAKE AS HIS OWN,HIS BASHING-HIS LYNING-HIS FLIP FLOPS-HIS NASTY WAYS-AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY DONNA BRAZILE-DEAN HOWARD-NANCY P-OBAMA -THE MEDIA AND MORE TO TURN THEIR BACKS ON THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE AND EXPECT US TO COME TOGETHERE IN WHAT WE DON’T BELIEVE IN.THEY DIDN’T CARE THEN.SO WHY DO THEY CARE NOW? OH THEY JUST PUT THIS IN THEIR PLANS TO THINK WE HILLARY SUPPORTERS WILL ALSO BACK EWWW I EVEN HATE TO WRITE OBAMA!OBAMA SAID ” I WILL GET HILLARY’S SUPPORTERS.THE QUESTION IS WELL SHE GET MINE”WELL NOW I KNOW THAT WAS A PLAN A WEELK BEFOR THE THIRD LAST PRIMARY.NO HE JUST WENT ON AN BRAGED ABOUT IT.WHAT.THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY-OBAMA HAD THEIR PLANS ON THE NEXT STEP.BUT YOU KNOW WHAT NO MATTER HOW OBAMA SAID IT.BUT HE SAID IT SO HATEFUL AND SO SURE OF HIMSELF’I WILL GET HILLARY’S SUPPORTERS.THE QUESTION IS WILL SHE GET MINE”.I WOULD NOT GO IN ANYTHING HE SAYS.HE WANTS WHAT HE WANTS AND HE WILL CHEAT AS WELL AS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY WILL AS WELL DO.THEY ARE SHAMEFUL. AND TO TAKE THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.THEY WRITTEN THIS POLICY OF LET’S SEE MAYBE 2004-2005-2006 PICK A YEAR.

I to will not forget.I am a women who voted for Hillary not because she is a women but,I voted for what she stood for in her 35 years. Her record is something that she took pride in doing for the american people of all race and color. She as well stood out in the rain.On mothers day.no matter rain, shine or snow Hillary was there as she was there for all the people as she worked her tail off for in the senate.I watch http://www.hillaryspeaksforme.com/ and I get so upset in what the democratic party did,I get upset to see how MSNBS treated her with all the lies. The little things as how she may have moved her hand.oh hat Hillary is trying to act sexy.Iget up set when I see Obama bashing her as he takes her policys. I am not going to help support Obama.I send mu membership card in and I gave 1/2 to Dean Howard 1/2 to Donna Brazile told them they can share with all the others who took the will of the people and did so wrong to Hillary for their own agenda.Hillary spend 5 million of her own money.that’s alot.did they care?no.Hillary went on with full stranght.did they care ?no Did the democratic party stop Obama -MSMBC-MBC-MSN-CNN? NO.Did the democratic stop? No.

But now Dean Howard is saying Hillary took some bad treatment.Sure Dean Howard, now step in.JUST WORDS.
where have I heard those words before.”JUST WORDS” Well Dean Howard the word that came from your mouth before “who ever she,I mean he will be the nominnee.ok, did he say-she,I mean he.He sure did. This was before Florida.

So Dean Howard.I say to you “JUST WORDS” you are useing now to act as you were in no way part of the bashing and the planned election. We don’t care of your words now Dean Howard,Donna Brazile,Obama, well Obama is always “JUST WORDS”
MSNBC- ALL THEIR NETWORDS WE DON’T CARE IN HELPING YOU TO HELP OBAMA!GO AWAY WE DO NOT WANT YOU OR NEED YOU.

We saw,We heard,We knew what you the democratic party was doing.Taking the nominnee from one of your own.Now we will not be a part of the democratic party.
Hillary 08 Presidential nominnee

John McCain 08 presidential nominnee

Obama.NOTHING!
