Larry Johnson moved to Washington, D.C. in 1979 to begin work on a Ph.D. at the American University. Although he completed successfully all coursework and comprehensive exams, he did not write a dissertation. In 1978 and in 1983-85 he worked in Latin America on community development projects as a community organizer. Returning to the United States in 1985 he joined the Central Intelligence Agency, thanks in part to a letter of recommendation from Republican Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) that helped to "open doors" for him at the Agency.[3] Johnson entered on duty at the CIA in September 1985 and was a classmate of Valerie Plame. Every member of that class was undercover. After a year in the Career Trainee program, which included a stint with the Afghan Task Force, Johnson was assigned as an analyst in the Middle America Caribbean Division in the Latin American Affairs Office of the Directorate of Intelligence. He received two Exceptional Performance awards and was promoted ultimately to Senior Regional Analyst for Central America.
Johnson remained undercover in the CIA until October 1989, when he resigned from the CIA and started a new job in the Office of Counter Terrorism at the Department of State. Johnson played an instrumental role in launching the Terrorism Rewards program international advertising campaign (working with Diplomatic Security officers Brad Smith and Michael Parks). [4] Johnson also was involved in a variety of crisis management response operations, including the release of hostages from Lebanon and liaison with the Pan Am 103 families. He left government service in October 1993 and started his own business as a consultant.
After leaving government service, Johnson became a frequent guest on many major television news shows when a question of terrorism came up. He was first interviewed by CNN following the capture of Carlos the Jackal. Johnson subsequently appeared on CNN, ABC's Nightline, CBS, the BBC, MSNBC, the Jim Lehrer News Hour, NBC, and NPR. In December of 1999, for example, Johnson was hired by NBC to serve as its terrorist expert for the Y2000 and was in Time Square with Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric ("a lot of fun and the best way to see in the New Year"). Johnson also was hired in January 2002 as a Fox News Analyst and remained under contract until February 2003.
Since 1994 a significant focus of Johnson's consulting work has been with the U.S. military special operations forces in scripting and conducting military counter terrorism exercises. He traveled under orders from the U.S. military to Iraq in May 2006 to work on a short term project.
A registered Republican who supported President Bush in 2000, Johnson became a strong critic of the Bush administration in May 2003 for its conduct of the war in Iraq and, a few months later, for its role in the outing of CIA operative Valerie Plame.[5] He was also featured in the 2004 political documentary Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism. Since Robert Novak's controversial disclosure of Valerie Plame as a CIA operative in July 2003, Johnson has contributed to public discourse on intelligence matters, often sparking further controversy. He has been interviewed by both the mass media and the alternative media and published commentaries on a variety of issues, including the Plame affair, the controversy concerning Mary McCarthy, and the resignation of Porter Goss as Director of Central Intelligence.

In 1996, Johnson noted that terrorism worldwide was on the decline. "Terrorist incidents [both internationally and in the US] have fallen to levels not seen since the 1970s. Whether measured by the number of incidents, the number of fatalities, or the number of groups, raw statistics demonstrate that the level of terrorist violence has declined since the mid-1980s. In fact, the evidence suggests terrorism was more widespread and deadly 10 years ago."[6]
He also wrote an op-ed piece for the New York Times suggesting that the newer and more deadly terrorist threat to the U.S. was embodied by "networks of terrorists, mostly foreign, working within its borders." Exemplifying this threat was Ramzi Yousef, one of the masterminds behind the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center. In the article, Johnson suggests that enhanced cooperation between intelligence agencies, particularly the FBI and CIA, is mandatory to meet the growing threat of terror networks.[7]

In 1998, Johnson argued that while overall terrorism was declining, the threat from bin Laden and al-Qaeda should be the focus of American counterterrorism policy:
The nature of the threat posed by Bin Ladin is highlighted by my final chart, number 7. Osama Bin Ladin and individuals associated with him have killed and wounded more Americans than any other group. This chart also illustrates that groups such as Hamas and the Tamil Tigers (LTTE) prior to 1998 have killed more foreigners in the anti-US terrorist attacks. If we take into account the bombings of the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, Osama's status as the most lethal terrorist is certain.[8]
In addition, he told USA Today that bin Laden had participated in "virtually every major attack of terrorism against the United States" in the 1990s. Johnson underlined the threat posed by bin Laden, saying that he was possessed by "hatred and craziness." If left unanswered, "he would continue to terrorize Americans around the world. He has no compunction about killing women and children. He's a complete egalitarian in his murderous attitude."[9]

In an interview with PBS's Frontline for its 1999 program, Hunting bin Laden, Johnson discussed Osama bin Laden.[10] According to Johnson, Americans had "tended to make Osama bin Laden sort of a superman in Muslim garb." "Actually," he continues, "Osama bin Laden, in my view, represents more of a symptom of a problem, and the problem is this: the Saudi Arabian government, not just Osama bin Laden but many people in Saudi Arabia, have been sending money to radical Islamic groups for years." Johnson continued:
When you look at who's killed Americans in the last 10 years, the individuals he's supported and backed--I'm basing that upon the initial information that's been released in the indictments and conversations with others in the intelligence communities--Osama bin Laden has been the one killing Americans. No other terrorist group in the world has been out killing Americans except for Osama bin Laden.... Osama bin Laden remains out there as the one really targeting us. So, we recognize that he's the threat. He's serious about wanting to kill Americans, but as long as he's in Afghanistan, as long as he doesn't have access to a cell phone, as long as he can't just hop on a plane and travel wherever he wants without fear of being arrested, his ability to plan and conduct terrorist operations is extremely limited. We have to recognize [that] he would like to do a lot of damage. He would like to kill Americans, but wanting to is different from being able to, having the full capabilities in place.[11]
In the interview, Johnson doubted the ability of members of bin Laden's organization to plan and put their lives on the line:
There's not another Ali or Mustafa out there at this point and Osama bin Laden in my view has not been a very effective organizer or leader. He talks a great game and puts out terrific threats as far as stirring the passions in the United States and maybe firing up the imaginations of some young Muslims throughout the world. But when push comes to shove, can he get a group of people who are together who will say: we are going to plan an operation, we're going to put our lives on the line, we're going to go out and try and kill people and we don't care what the consequence is? It hasn't happened.[12]
Frontline asked:
[Is it] ... fair to say what you're saying is that the president of the United States, his national security advisor, his deputy national security advisor for counter-terrorism, are basically blowing smoke [about the danger posed by bin Laden] and his followers]?
Johnson responded:
They're grossly exaggerating the problem. They are hyping it. They shouldn't be talking about rising terrorism. Instead of saying "terrorism's rising," it's not. "Terrorism is spreading," it's not. "More people are dying from terrorism," not the case. But what they should be saying is, "There's one individual out there that really doesn't like us, and he's made it his mission in life to kill Americans, and we've gotta deal with him." But we need to have a voice of reason in that process instead of putting ourselves out crying wolf, because this is essentially what's taking place right now. They call it the administration that cries wolf.[12]

Johnson co-authored an article in 2000 with Milt Bearden which focused on the threat posed by al-Qaeda specifically, rather than terrorism trends in general. Beardon and Johnson note that new information emerging about the bombings at Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 points to the threat posed by Imad Mugniyah and Osama Bin Laden will require "a coordinated policy that will employ a full range of covert, clandestine, diplomatic, and military operations," concluding:
The Clinton Administration has shot its bolt on the terrorist problem with small effect, and no last minute show of force will change the record. A new administration can start afresh with a more sharply defined set of terrorism goals – Mughniyeh and bin Laden and their protectors for starters – and bring the full, coordinated force of American diplomatic, military, and intelligence capabilities to bear on the problem.[13]

After Johnson's testimony to the special forum at the U.S. Senate, Gary J. Schmitt, executive director and CEO of the Project for the New American Century, refers in the Daily Standard (blog) to an op-ed piece Johnson wrote two months prior to the 9/11 attacks, claiming that Johnson argued that the US had little to fear from terrorism.[14]
In an editorial entitled "The Declining Terrorist Threat," published in the New York Times on 10 July 2001, Johnson says:
Judging from news reports and the portrayal of villains in our popular entertainment, Americans are bedeviled by fantasies about terrorism. They seem to believe that terrorism is the greatest threat to the United States and that it is becoming more widespread and lethal. They are likely to think that the United States is the most popular target of terrorists. And they almost certainly have the impression that extremist Islamic groups cause most terrorism.... None of these beliefs are based in fact.... While terrorism is not vanquished, in a world where thousands of nuclear warheads are still aimed across the continents, terrorism is not the biggest security challenge confronting the United States, and it should not be portrayed that way.[15]
Ten days after the 9/11 attacks, after quoting the above passage, Timothy Noah concludes a post in his "Chatterbox" feature at Slate: "Johnson's analysis, we now see, was bold, persuasive, and 100 percent wrong."[16] Johnson defended himself against such attacks:
The rightwing is resurrecting an op-ed I wrote in July 2001. I stand by the full article. It is still relevant today. I am accused, incorrectly, of ignoring the threat of terrorism. In fact, I correctly noted that the real threat emanated from Bin Laden and Islamic extremism. President Bush, for his part, ignored the CIA warning in August 2001 that Al Qaeda was posed to strike inside the United States.[17]
After September 11, Johnson appeared several times on FOX News to address the question of military action against terrorism. On 14 November, he defended the FBI's proposal to interview 5,000 students in the U.S. suspected of having information relevant to the September 11 investigations:
I think they should talk to everyone that they feel they have a need to talk to. I mean, look, this is war. This is not a legal proceeding. This isn't the O.J. Simpson trial. The folks that attacked us -- they murdered Americans. And we've got to recognize that in wartime, we should do things differently.[18]

In January 2003, Johnson wrote an analysis of the relationship between the upcoming U.S. invasion of Iraq and the threat of transnational terrorism. According to Johnson, Bremer's response was to tell him that "it didn't matter what Saddam did or didn't do, we were going to war."[19] The paper warned that an invasion would "do little to destroy the infrastructure of radical Islamic terrorism responsible for the 9-11 attacks." Noting that Saddam Hussein's regime has been a longtime supporter of regional terrorist organizations such as the PLO, Johnson examines contacts between Saddam Hussein and transnational terrorist organizations such as al-Qaeda:
There is no doubt that Iraq is a state sponsor of terrorism—i.e., a country that provides financial support, safe haven, training, or weapons and explosives to groups or individuals that carry out terrorist attacks. . . . According to Central Intelligence Agency data, there is no credible evidence implicating Iraq in any mass casualty terrorist attacks since 1991. . . .
Johnson notes that the period immediately leading up to 2003 saw a rise of activity surrounding terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, suggesting that "Iraq is willing to help a movement that it would otherwise oppose on ideological grounds. Nonetheless," Johnson concludes, "it is important to understand that Iraqi entreaties to Al Qaeda, are most likely intended as a tactic to bolster Iraq’s ability to fight off a U.S. invasion rather than a deep-seated theological and ideological commitment to the terrorist agenda of Bin Laden.[20]
In that analysis Johnson also warns that the U.S.-led invasion was likely to backfire:
In fact there is a serious risk that a U.S. led war against Iraq may crystallize the diffused anger in the Arab and Muslim world — a heretofore unattained goal of bin Laden and his followers — and persuade more Muslim youths to take up the terrorist banner against America and her citizens.... If we decide to invade Iraq we must be prepared for the contingency that our attack will inspire young Muslims to pursue jihad against the West in general and the United States in particular. Just as the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan rallied many Muslims, especially young adults to the cause of jihad, a U.S. attack may enable Islamic extremists to attract new followers.[20]
Johnson also gave interviews on the topic of what to do with captured al-Qaeda leaders; while he did not condone torture, he suggested that a "sleep deprivation and reward system" might be useful for getting information from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed:
I don't see a constitutional right to have eight hours of sleep. You shouldn't subject someone to freezing but they don't get to wear mink coats, either.[21]
In May 2003, Johnson joined members of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) in condemning the manipulation of intelligence for political purposes:
It is a misuse and abuse of intelligence. The president was being misled. He was ill served by the folks who are supposed to protect him on this. Whether this was witting or unwitting, I don't know, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.[22]

After Robert Novak wrote a column identifying the wife of former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson as a CIA officer, the media invited Johnson to comment on the ensuing scandal because he had been a member of the same Career Trainee class with Valerie Plame Wilson. For example, in October 2003, he appeared on Democracy Now to discuss the Plame affair. He told interviewer Amy Goodman that Valerie Wilson's cover should have been respected whether she was an "analyst" or a "cleaning lady": "if she's undercover she's undercover, period. If the media allows themselves to get distracted with those kinds of curve balls, they ignore the issue."[23]
He told a Senate Democratic Policy Committee in October 2003, "My classmates and I have been betrayed. Together, we have kept the secrets of each other's identities a secret for 18 years. Each and every one of us have kept that secret, whether we were in the CIA, in other government service or in the private sector. But this issue is not just about a blown cover. It is about the destruction of the very essence, the core of human intelligence collection activities: plausible deniability, apparently, for partisan domestic political reasons."[24]
Johnson testified at a special joint hearing of Congressional and Senate Democrats on 22 July 2005 about the consequences arising from the Plame affair.[25]

In 2008, Johnson emerged as a staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton and a strong critic of Barack Obama. Larry Johnson's blog, NoQuarterUSA, became a rally point for Clinton supporters wary of Barack Obama's qualifications to be president. Supporters of Barack Obama insist that a story that first appeared on Johnson's blog--a report that Republican operatives have a tape of Michelle Obama making racially insenstive comments about caucasians--has been "refuted" Barack Obama's Fight the Smears website.[26]. However, Johnson never claimed to have the tape and reported that the Republican operatives controlling it intended to release the tape sometime after the Democratic Convention in August 2008. On October 21, however, he asserted that the operative in possession of the tape had been instructed by the McCain campaign not to release it.[27]

It is, to be sure, a little bit cheap (and slightly at odds with the usual parameters of this feature) to criticize someone for making an erroneous prediction, particularly after a tragedy. Chatterbox is especially reluctant to tag Johnson because Johnson's op-ed was argued forcefully, backed up meticulously with factual data, and bravely at odds with conventional wisdom at the time of its publication. Another claim about Obama circulating on the internet concerns whether or not he is actually eligible to run for the Presidency. Once again the Obama campaign has bungled a matter that should be fairly easy to resolve by ponying up a copy of Obama’s birth certificate. Here is what first appeared at Daily Kos and is now on the Obama fear the smear site.
This is not a “Birth Certificate.” The title alone is troublesome. I am looking at the Birth Certificates for my wife and me. We were born in Missouri. The documents state, “Certificate of Live Birth.” I check my son’s, who was born in the District of Columbia. It also states, “Certificate of Live Birth.”
Barack’s campaign is offering up a “CERTIFICATION.” That’s different. A normal Certificate also includes:
1. No attending physician signature or license number
2. No address for the attending physician or hospital
3. No parent signature
4. No parent DOB or age of parent or parent place of birth.
5. Father’s race would not be “African”, that is country of origin. Race would be black or Negro (1960’s)
6. Was this a single birth or multiple birth.
7. No Registrars name or signature.
Can anyone out there in blog land come up with a copy of what a legitimate Hawaiian birth certificate circa 1960-62 would look like?

My certification of birth from California was a postcard prior to 1970.
Now it is similar to the one shown for Obama.
Certifications and birth certificates are two separate forms.
I was born in California in 1960 and by no means is my birth certificate a post card. In fact my original birth certificate is basically a black back ground with white font.
The term Birth Certificate and Certificate Of Live Birth are the same thing. The order of the words Birth and Certificate are switched around. Are you sincerely suggesting that the meaning of the terms are different based on which word comes first? Do you honestly believe that? Where do you draw the line when it comes to thinking for yourself? Are the terms Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Operator’s Permit the same thing? if you say no, then you are out in left field.
You can’t register your kid for school with a certificate of live birth. The registar’s office will only accept an actual birth certificate, so will the passport office and the Department of Transportation. They are, in fact, two different forms.
You cannot get a social security number with a certificate of live birth.
Hi friends. Just reading about the birth certificate. It may be some kind of registration. You may get a registration also with a birth cert. It does seem an official document either has a seal OR raised seal that is directly the paper raised itself. I have many birth cert. for my family. They are usually certified from the dept. of health or registrar. This paper seems like a registration. A registration CANNOT be used for ID. I know because my son has one. It says it right on the one he has.All the birth cert. I have are more or less the same .This does not look like any I have. Most cert. ask the country of origin. There are quite a few boxes to fill out. The Doctor always signs that it is true and he witnesses the birth. Years ago a cert. could be issued a week later. Because children were born at home. Since he was born in ‘61 I believe that is not a very old one. I know a copy can not be used at all for anything important where you have to prove such as social security. It is possible that a midwife signs too.
Not true, if that doc is genuine with a raised or multi-colored seal of issuing state, county or city, file date within a year of birth, place of birth (meaning “state” in the U.S., and child’s name, then it is proof of U.S. citizenship; provided the child’s parents are heads of foreign state, diplomats, or invading hostile army.
Anyway, I doubt it highly, but, say Barack Obama WAS born in Kenya… IRRELEVANT, according to wikipedia, Barack Obama Sr never divorced his previous Kenyan wife, so Barack Obama was born out of wedlock to a U.S. citizen mother and a child born abroad out-of-wedlock to a U.S. citizen mother may acquire U.S. citizenship under Section 301(g) INA, as made applicable by Section 309(c) INA if the mother was a U.S. citizen at the time of the child’s birth, and if the mother had previously been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year. There are no retention requirements for said child. Case closed. I, however, doubt that there would be any Obama passport records to be snooped into, if a genuine certified Hawaiian birth certificate hadn’t been submitted to Passport Services. The State Dept is sort of picky about things like that.
Ben, John McCain has had to answer these questions to the court. Twice, and both his parents are Americans.
One more addition to your statement, the law further states the mother must have spent 5 years past the 14th year of age in the USA to have this priveledge of having a child that can be a US citizen yet born on foreign soil. I read that Obama’s mother was 18 years old when she had him. If true she was unmarried and in an inner racial relationship of a black foreigner, our culture of the day would have been damning towards her. Hawaii may have been more acceptable but her motives would have been clear, have a legitmate child at the least and in Hawaii who would question whether the father was still married in Kenya or not? She could not have credibility in Kenya, perhaps even facing death by religious law.
In Kenya they see him as a native son, children sing him songs, they chant his name in unison and are proud that one of their own is so powerful in the USA. His first cousin is a Marxist who studied in East Germany on scholarship and then went to jail for a coup on the government in 1982 for 8 years.

Kenya wrote a complaint letter about his “lectures” about their government. It was pointed out that in criticizing their government and promoting the re-election of his cousin as well as donating $1 million dollars to the campaign that Obama had violated the Logan Act.
Obama violated the Logan Act on his summer trip to Iraq when he asked the Iraqi officials to delay troop withdrawal until after the elction. One month ago the Iraqi government made this known and filed a strong concern and asked for understanding and clarification as to why Obama asked such a thing? They also confirmed that this matter was the reason for Obama and Petrais having argument on that trip. Where is the senate to investigate this? Where is the media to make this known to the American people? Finally The Washington Times writes the story Oct. 12th on his Marxist cousin and today the Obama supporters are complaining that Obama is called a Marxist but no headline story on it at all. His travel there violated his granted visa acording to Kenya officials expecting a senatorial visit.
His cut backs on spending as a first priority is to cut foreign spending outside the USA because we can no longer afford to help others. This was reported today. I want to know his economic plan to cut what aid to what countries and what new money will flow to Africa and Indonesia? Obama has completely followed a playbook for many years. The real issue is who wrote it? and for what purpose? Who is Obama? Messiah or Anti-christ? Ask Glenn Beck.

Yes you do need to show a certificate of live birth to get a passport. I showed a certificate of birth and was told that is NOT a birth certificate, that it must be one of live birth with the Dr.’s signature and a raised stamp from the state. I was further told if there is no Dr.’s signature (such as born at home) then there is an attached document with witnesses signatures.
I recently flew with my 18 month old and had to show his birth certificate. The only thing I was given by the county where I had him (which I had to pay $27 for) says “Certification of Birth” on the top, no doctors names, etc. I have a “keepsake” one from the hospital that has all the other info on it but was told it was not a real one and I had to apply for the real one from the county.
You can travel and get passports as a US citizen. That doesn’t mean you were natural born citizen, which is the requirement to be POTUS.

There are also death records — and again there standard data collection forms.

As many here have stated the information, state to state, may be different in format, but NOT different in the content. All US birth certificates must contain the name and DOB of the Parent(s), the name and signature of the person performing the birth, the name of the hospital or a witness if it was a home birth. My mom had 11 kids, born in NY, CA, OR and Panama and ALL information required is IDENTICAL. There is a HI court case that will start on 11/18 on this case and there have been no less than 12 lawsuits about this matter so far throughout the US. I went and looked at my birth certificate and the certificates of my two children.
My kids still have their original live birth certificates and have all the information Larry posted. But mine, since I only had the hospital record, is a copy I had to apply for from the state I was born in, in order to get a passport. I was surprised how little information there is on it. It has even less information on it than the one shown by Obama.
Believe me, I did get it from the state, it has been good enough to use for a passport and all DMV records, and doesn’t look anything like what they released in 1962, the year I was born (and by the way, my son’s birth certificate is on a totally different style paper, and he was born two years after my daughter in the same county).
We all can’t have our original birth certificates if our parents kept them or lost them, and getting a copy is very commonplace. And if, even my kids can have two completely different birth certificates from the same country, only two years apart, then seems pretty hard to find any consistency on these things.

When you begin to conceive of the paper trail that has led Obama to where he is now, you can see it. From 1911 to 1972, Hawaii permitted people over the age of one year to apply for a birth certificate. Many people were born at home; and did not have a birth certificate from a hospital. Perhaps O’s mother wanted to ensure that O had the benfits of US citizenship and applied for one of those ‘at home’ deals once she and Barack were back in HI (meaning the hospital and attending physician, et al, may not be listed on that document!). The birth certificate on D. Kos is a fabrication. First of all, it is a version from 2001, as you can see from the bottom of the document.
Documents in 1961 were either handwritten or typed by a Smith Corona, not by laser arial font 12. Obama’s name was not Barack at birth, he changed his name in later life.
It is so obvious a recreation of what may be on the document but cannot be trusted till the original is presented without omissions or alterations.

I have ancestory.com. I have stayed up very late nights looking everywhere for marriage and divorce records for his mother. There is none. Birth records for her parents and her but not the kid. Where in CA? I have mine, from 1955 and it is identical to my daughter’s in 1992 and 1992. All boxes are filled because ALL information was given. There are 7 sections and although some from other states, like NY and OR, are in a different format from mine, ALL give the same information. My mom still has the originals of all 11 children at her home.
That info is on the Certificate of Live Birth ON the State Certification of Vital Records. They are 1) This Child 2) Place of Birth 3)Father of Child ( includes DOB and State of birth) 4) Mother of Child (same as 3) 5)Parent’s Certification (signatures) 6) Certification of Birth (signed by the Dr and the Hospital BC Coordinator and 7) Local Registrar (signed and date stamped) Barry CANNOT produce this, because one doesn’t exist!!!

I recently had to send a copy of my birth certificate to get on a housing list. Could not find it. So I called the Dept of records in my State and ordered it.
It does not look like the original one, but I do think both had a seal of some sort, or water mark. Trying to tell by a picture on the internet is deceptive and unprovable in my opinion.

This certificate is what the Hawaii DOH calls a “Late” Certificate of Birth, and it is not an original Birth Certificate recorded at the date of actual birth.
In Hawaii, anyone can claim they were born there and submit the evidence years after the birth to obtain a late “Certificate of Birth”.
“Who is Eligible to Apply for Late Registration? As provided by law (HRS §§338-15, 338-29.5), the following persons may apply for late registration: Any person born in Hawaii who is one year old or older and whose birth has not been previously registered in Hawaii, or that person’s parent, guardian, next of kin, or older person acting for that person and having knowledge of the facts of birth may request the registration of a late certificate of birth.
Late registration, registration one year or more after the date of the event’s occurrence, of certificates are permitted subject to evidentiary requirements.
Perhaps Obama had his typical white grandmother sign an affidavit to submit as evidence of Hawaii birth.

Larry is absolutely correct. I just checked my birth certificate and another in my family. Both, from different states, have all of the same checkpoints Larry mentioned and both state, “Certificate of Live Birth.” There is something awfully strange about someone who hides their birth certificate.
At the bottom of the cert;
“This COPY serves as prima facie evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding”
We assume this to not be the original but a copy sent for years later at which time when the original was probably lost.
What we need to be looking for is what Authentic “Copies” of Hawaiian COB’s look like today.
All official “COPIES” have seals.
I live in Hawaii and that document looks exactly like the one our three kids have.
I build websites and work with digital photos all the time. One thing I noticed is if you add text to a picture, save it a JPG file, and then zoom in on it, you’ll see distortion around the perimeter of the text. In the close-up of Obama’s birth certificate you can see distortion around the letters. This indicates that the text was added in a digital photo program. This certificate is NOT a copy of a paper document. It’s simply a digital background and then someone added the text to it. It’s a complete fake.
Also notice the following:
1. The text on the Hawaiian logo is more distorted then the rest of the text on the page. This is because this was copied from a low quality copy of a real birth certificate.
2. No physician name or signature.
3. No hospital name or address.
4. No parents signatures.
5. No parents DOB, place of birth, or age.
6. Father’s “race” would be black or negro, not African.
7. No Registrar’s name or signature.
8. No seal that this is a “valid” birth certificate from Hawaii.
Obama is NOT a US citizen and is trying to hide it! If you can’t see this then you need help.
Each Island of Hawaii is also the county.
The County would be Oahu not Honolulu, unless

I was born in Honolulu,Hawaii in 1961 and my Birth Certificate doesn’t look like Obama’s. It has my Dad listed under my name,his birthplace,age,and occupation,then my mother listed next,her birthplace,age,occupation and her maiden name. Both have race listed. There are 23 BOXES for this information to be filled out. At the bottom of the page has the Director of Health signature and the Registrar General signature,dated and has a raised seal.

Ok, I was born in NJ in 1960 and MY “Birth Certificate” actually says, “Office of Vital Statistics”,then under that, “Certification of Birth”. My children’s, all born in FL past 1980, say the same.
BUT, mine and my children’s ALL have a “Date of Issue”, are SIGNED by the State Registrar AND clearly have a State Seal stamp.
So, while I can’t say the phrase “Certification of birth” does NOT mean the same as “Birth Certificate” (mine and my children’s prove this), I CAN say, no signature, no seal and no Date of Issue are the things which truly bring this document into question.

This looks more like the title to my car! My birth certificate looks nowhere near like mine from 1969 and when my father had to get a copy of his from 1932 got an actual microfilm copy of the original, some some phoney looking laser printed by copy.

It can be a valid abstract but it does not contain all information of a recorded birth record. It is not a copy, it may be an abstract of certain information from a birth record. The question would be why an abstract of partial information is released and who made the abstract.

I got my boyfriend’s kid’s 1990 birth certificate recently in Washington State and it had about as much info as the supposed certification for Obama. I was told that one of the reasons they now do not put alot of info on the certificates is to prevent identity theft. But the decision on what to put on what they give you when you request a birth certificate (certification or certificate of live birth?) seems to be determined by individual counties.
I got my own early 1960’s birth certificate recently from California so I could get a passport. It was called Certificate of Live Birth. It looked like a copy of the original because it had my mother’s signature, attending physician, etc.
So it should be easy enough for Kid Unity to obtain a certified copy of his own birth certificate, if it exists.

If it’s a copy it should be certified by the hospital record department as authentic. The NJ one I had available to look at did include father’s (but not mother’s) occupation and place of work.

I’m from Texas, 1960. Hospital BC’s were verified by the state. Same info was required. date, time and location of birth. Parents and attending OB. weight, length, gender, race of infant. Mine is a little different as I’m a twin and it lists the name and sex of my twin. Also because I was born at a Catholic Hospital it lists the religion of parents. Hand and footprints which I believe was standard practice. Also has state seal. I recently applied for a passport for my daughter.
Had to get an official state copy of hers ( 1990 ) it lists the birthplace of both parents, a reference number in the county records and has a raised state seal ( Indiana ) These are required for state health agencies, schools, etc….
The State of Hawaii Bureau of Vital Statistics or similar dept is where Birth Certificates are kept and where you would go to get a certified copy for identification purposes (ie, driver’s license, passport, etc.)

This is what you get when you order a copy for yourself when you’re 20 something and need proof of birth. This is NOT a birth certificate.

In my occupation I have to order birth certifics from years 1940’s and up. I don’t know anything about birth certificates,but I do know something about Photoshop. I have worked in TV art departments for years, and have a pretty good knowledge of how people produce fake documents.
A phony birth certificate manufactured in Photoshop, or more likely Illustrator, would not contain any JPEG artifacts, since it would be created in .PSD or .AI file formats, which are lossless and would contain no artifacts of any kind.
JPEG artifacts might well be introduced by saving the file in a JPG format to decrease file size for placing on the web, but this would also happen if a 20mb or so scanned image of such a document is saved as a compressed JPG.
Learn the facts before subjecting us to your wacky conspiracy theories- you sound like one of those 9/11 people who all seem to have earned graduate degrees in structural engineering overnight.

I have done some genealogy for my family and Birth Certificates are different from state to state and even different from cities/towns that people submit to..
For example in Many States if you are adopted you don’t have access to the information on your Birth Certificate and you might not have any of the above on the version you receive.

I said elsewhere on this thread that I recently went to the county registrar in Washington state and ordered a birth certificate for my boyfriend’s son. The birth was in the 1990s. I was given what looked like an abstract, similar to the one shown for Obama. When I ordered it, I did not have to prove any relation. So maybe anyone could have ordered the one shown for Obama. It may not have come from his campaign.
When I got my own more detailed certificate of live birth (early 1960’s California) I had to send a signed and notarized letter by fax to the county (notary stamp was ink only so you could see it on a fax).

You can go to City/Town hall and asked for a copy of your BC and they will ask you which version you need. There are different Birth Certificates for different applications. For example if you are getting a Passport you need a Long Form with a seal — If you just need one with basic info for an employer or other applications you get the Short form. If you were adopted basically you get one that says basically Yup you were born! and doesn’t give you any information.
Each state has different requirements and can be complicated by *when* you had one.

Which state are you talking about? I had to replace mine (the original was falling apart so I guess that shows my age). I live in a different state than the state of my birth and they required a notarized statement. The one they sent looked exactly like the original and it was stamped by the state. It had the place and date of birth for both parents as well as my mother’s maiden name. This was last year. I have two cousins born in Hawaii while their father was stationed there. I am going to ask if they have theirs and take a look at it.

There was a similiar question about McCain’s birth a few months ago because he was born in Central America while his father was in service there. Both of his parents were Americans and his father was in the military so I guess the situation is different, but if Obama was in fact born in Kenya of a citizen of that country and an American, I am sure his mother would have had to apply for dual citizenship.
McCain was born on a naval base which like embassies are recognized extensions of US soil. The issue is US soil. POTUS must be born on US soil ( native land )

This issue has come up before earlier in the 20th c as there were candidates born in territories before they achieved state status…It wa decided then tat because these territories had applied for state status and were then US territories that the requirement was met. This is not racial with regard to Obama as the question was raised with McCain.McCain was born on a Naval base in a US Military hospital. US Miltary bases and embassies are recognized as extensions of US SOIL…So the requirement was met for McCain. McCain was born on US SOIL according to the law.

I believe that you would have an attending physician signature with an area that reads something similar to:
I hereby certify that I attended the birth of this child who was born (alive or stillborn)on above date at _______am or pm. There would also be an area for multiple births, etc.
Possibly it would have the question about treatment of eyes with silver nitrate 1/2% solution if that was required by law. Everyone gets it due to syphillis.
It would also have a registration number, and maybe a state office listing.
It would have gone to details about each parent, occupation, color, age, and their birthplace.
By law the delivery person or physician must sign the birth certificate record. That is the law.

The debunking is courtesy of the jpeg artifacts that can be clearly seen as well as any certification that would make it legal. Had the creator added the certification, it may have made it more believable, but then he would also be subject to charges of forging federal documents, which is why it is missing. Nice try….well not really, any 12 yr old could do a more believable job and would have at least smoothed out the artifacts.

When information originally entered on a certificate is amended:, 1) a line is drawn through the incorrect entry and the correct data is inserted, 2) what information was amended and on what authority, the date of the action and the initials of the reviewer are entered on the certificate, and 3) the notation “altered” is written or stamped on the certificate.

Yes I’m from Hawaii and I have a COPY of my birth certificate for use in getting passports, etc. It looks exactly like the BO one online (but not like my misplaced original, which looked a microfilmed document with signatures).
The Hawaii State Dept. of Health can issue this form almost immediately from their database, whereas the old style took weeks or more to get.
In addition to the laser-printed data, there is, on the back, an embossed seal of the State of Hawaii, a stamped “I certify that this is a true copy or abstract of the record on file in the Hawaii State Department of Health” with the stamped signature of the State Registrar and a stamped date of issue.
So — this is not the form that the parents sign after a live birth at the hospital but it is a facsimile that suffices for official purposes where you need a ‘birth certificate.’

State birth certificates vary from state to state in the information they give.
I was born in Tennessee, and it doesn’t list the hospital or city, just the county. Other states list the hospital and/or city.
Some states give you a copy of the original certificate. Some states give you an abstract of the original, which apparently is the procedure in Hawaii.
In Hawaii, the abstract will get you a drivers license and constitutes proof of citizenship for employment purposes.
Beyond all the foolishness, why is Obama the only candidate subject to scrutiny as to citizenship?
Was Hillary really, really born in Mongolia? Was McCain really born in Sicily?
I have yet to see proof otherwise, so until then . . . .

It probably isn’t that big of a deal. I also had something similar to that from PA where I was born. It is all I had for years, but I did have to get the actual birth certificate from the state of PA before I could get a passport.
Did you notice.. when you blow it up the backwards date from O7..also there is no impressed stamped seal. I have never seen a birth certifcate that looks like this, so many things left out.
