The Question Remains How?

All fine and good to have noble aspirations but have Obama’s supporters looked at his lack of accomplishments? There is no there. Have you thought about the how? Change is hard work. It is not a series of platitudes. As Joel Stein of the Los Angeles Times noted, “we know that we are being fooled, but we kind of like it.” Funny stuff. Your enjoyment of deception risks my world.

When I see a video like this that touts a messianic “We Are The Ones” message, I worry because I yet to see a messiah deliver. To me, I see a cult of wanna-be day dream believers, not tempered by the reality of the world as it exists.

If only you ever visited the trenches, you would see that it takes hard work and experience, a knowledge of policy alternatives, a dedication to see a project through its completion through pratfalls and disappointments. You are asking to me to take a chance a something “new and different”. Frankly, I have seen this all before.

Politics has real life consequences and for Obama supporters to project the change they want to see on a man who has yet to deliver an ounce of change is frankly delusional. Have you asked yourselves why radicals like Jodie Evans and William Ayers find cause to hope in Obama? How does that vision of America square with yours? Are they compatible? Like you, they see what they want to see in Obama. So do Rashid Khalid and Congressman Robert Wexler. One of them is bound to be disappointed because their agendas are radically different. Again, that’s cult-like behaivour to see only your projections, an innocence that tomorrow belongs to you when the reality might be far different than your starry eyed empty glazes of adoration. The question they should be asking is how is he going to do this? And what point do his flaws become self-evident?

Obama has been very coy in trying to be all things to all people and in the first video, people hold noble visions without ever thinking that Obama has not exactly been an agent of change. His record is sparse but there are some indications. Please tell me how voting for the Bush-Cheney Energy Policy is something “new and different.” Please tell me how telling the voting public that he doesn’t accept contributions from Washington lobbyist and then takes contributions from others in the same firms who either are not registered lobbyists or work in a state capital is “new and different.” And then there are questions of judgment galore. The Reverend Wright is not off the table. But you insist on seeing what you want to see. We see a different Obama.

Setting realistic expectations is the first responsibility of responsible leadership. And when one witnesses before one’s very eyes an usurpation of power in an unyielding quest for more and more control, I worry. Now he wants to nominated by acclamation. What is he an Emperor? Is this a Greek tragedy or a Roman farce? I have seen this all before. History is littered with Obama. Authoritarianism has many faces and even well-meaning autocrats trample their opposition. I don’t do benevolent dictators. That’s not the American way. Sorry I must JUST SAY NO DEAL.

There are more of us than you think. And while you wax poetic notions, we will be exposing Obama for who he really is, a danger and a fraud.

When did this become a John McCain blog? Get it through your thick skulls, Hillary lost. She endorsed Obama. She said that the goal of the party is to DEFEAT John McCain. For a site that claims to be blasting the cult of personality, your devotion to Hillary is the very definition of cult of personality. She lost. Nothing is going to change that result. She lost. She lost. She lost. She lost. Deal with it.

Brzezinski/Trilateralist/Ford Foundation people power coup, the Obama chant is revealed for the cess pool of criminality and racism that it is.

Funny but I don’t see a John McCain Diary, do you?

Comment by joe | 2008-06-14 11:14:05

It hasn’t been, moron. That post said nothing about McCain. It just talked about how wrong Obama is for the nation. That doesn’t mean everyone here will vote for McCain. But it does mean that most non-troll visitors will NOT be voting for Barry come November. Some will vote for Mac, some will support and campaign for Mac, some will vote Green, and some will stay home. But, together, we can all make your boy lose, and that is all that matters.

It’s not, but if you need to believe your lil trolls works, you should.

And make decisions accordingly, you are BRILLIANT.

When will Obama flip off John McCain? Hillary was the leader I chose! Now Iam a stanch John McCain supporter!
My wish list 1)new supreme court, force out liberals!

2)new speaker of the house “too much to the far left, ego centric”

Comment by Teakwood | 2008-06-14 14:53:54

Well said Charles.

I would describe ” Off the table Pelosi” as just one more meatball.

When the lines of political expediency and constitutional obligations are intentionally blurred, then no one will or can be held accountable. That is not “the democracy I knew”.

For some reason my sane half reads the commentary on MSM blogs and Obama supporters would make a salifist* jealous. No longer, if you support Obama, are we as individual citizens required, in fact obligated to inform our selves as to the facts and merits of a candidate’s qualifications for POTUS. Anti-intellectual minimalism is front and center in this “selection” cycle. All the short circuiting methods by Obama will NOT get him elected. It will expose him for what he is. An immoral human being that has never trusted himself to be honest long enough to realize he will never find redemtion in the misery he creates.

*(salifist” or “salafist” is a term used by radical Islamists. to denote a person who believes in the fundamental beliefs of Mohammad)

EXCUSE ME? Hillary hasn’t lost anything. No nominee has been chosen. No nominee will be chosen until August. No nominee will be chosen in August UNTIL THE DELEGATES CAST THEIR VOTES. Are you really this stupid?

Of course you are. You support Obamarhoid…who isn’t the nominee until the Delegates say he is in August at the convention. DEAL WITH IT.

Comment by Disconnect | 2008-06-14 10:52:29

Hillary LOST. The delegates are not going to install Hillary as the nominee in August. It’s not going to happend. Hillary endorsed Obama, for crying out loud.

Comment by It's Not Me | 2008-06-14 10:59:16

Hillary “suspended” her campaign and can still be the nominee should Obamarhoid’s campaign implode before August….for crying out loud. Anything can happen between now and August. 2 months is a LONG time in politics. Things can and do happen.

it’s a long long road to the convention for Obama

and many SDs are quite unhappy about the assets of the DNC being handed to Obama and dirty chicago politics on a platter

It’s really only been a week since that revelation.. let’s see what it looks like in 3 mores as the reality that the democratic party in its corruption has turned themselves into the OBAMA PARTY.

I think a lot of “real” democrats are going to have real problems stomaching that

I think Obama lovers need to deal with the reality that he’s going to lose a large share of Hillary supporters. I’m guessing 30%.

You deal with that. You need to get busy and make sure you get those college kids out to vote. They have a way of forgetting to do so.

Even then, you’re going to end up right back where you started from in terms of party size. So he needs to win those swing states the hard way.

Oh wow……look, he’s tanking still in FL, MI, NC, Nevada. He’s tied in NM, barely ahead in CO.

Not to worry. He looks solid in NY still. :)

Comment by McBush | 2008-06-14 11:22:58

If the prospect of losing 30% of the cultist religion that is Hill supporters is what soothes you and helps you sleep at night then good for you. We all know you all await August for the resurrection from the dead of your candidate, because after all she is a miracle worker. In Hill we trust, In the name of the mother, daughter and Holy Hill!!! How many of you will be at the tomb of resurrection in Denver with your Hill cross’s, on your knees praying for your redeemer to save you from the evil one.

Geez what a bunch Jonesian Mutants you are. But hey Hill bless you.

We don’t have to do that — the Obama camp and the MSM have already blamed Hillary for every comment that was ever uttered by anyone anywhere that was not deliriously, rapturously favorable to The Precious One.

And if no one during a particular news cycle said anything unfavorable to him that they could blame Hillary for, they just twisted someone’s words and created something to report.

Are you really an Obama troll or a McCain troll making sure we don’t forget what a sexist ass Obama is? If the latter, you’re preaching to the choir, but good job. I look forward to witnessing that tremendously humiliating and embarrassing ass-kicking McCain is going to hand Obama this fall. There is no one who deserves it more than Barrack Obama.

Comment by Acadian | 2008-06-14 12:19:04

Right, it’s different when you do it. But not anyone else, oh, no. You’re not responsible, right? Only others are.

It doesn’t matter what you think of Obama any more, since you’re so far gone that you’ll actually say that only HE has to account for every one of his supporters.

Why should he not be held to the same standard he and the MSM applied to Hillary? Just because he’s unqualified and unelectable, he shouldn’t be completely off the hook on everything.

Comment by Acadian | 2008-06-14 13:56:31

And YES, a campaign DOES include supporters. These are the types of supporters who’re out there stacking the caucuses, robocalling/pushpolling, pressuring and DOING things for the campaign, so yes, it’s the Obama campaign.

You assholes are SO classy for threatening a respected black figure, a reporter who was REPORTING what Obama said (G-d forbid the world knows what kind of asshole Obama is), a radio host and Hillary supporters.

It’s got more to back it up than does Obama’s claim he’ll protect a woman’s right to choose.

Instead of coming on here making baseless accusations, don’t you really think you should be out there registering people to vote. Are you running short of dimwits who are stupid enough to think Obama should be President?

Better get moving, Acadian/Disconnect/McBush. I know you’re just one little troll (with multiple user names), but there’s really not much time left before that horrendous and terribly embarrassing and humiliating ass-kicking McCain is going to give Obama this fall. Oh, reality is such a problem for you, and this is the point where your lil troll program goes SPLAT!

Not that you’d admit it, perhaps when Obama takes office, you can bomb another innocent third world country.

He intends to DECORATE!

Heh.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-06-14 12:21:51

I would never bet with an Obamabutt, because I figure your word is worth just as much as that of your Messiah. Did he keep his word to the Maytag workers, or did he sell out to the plant’s owners? Did the keep his word about the legislation to regulate Exelon, or did he sell out to Exelon? Did he protect a women’s right to choose or did he vote “present.”

Is he going to use public financing for his campaign in the GE, or did he lie about that too?

How many new voters have you registered? To meet that goal of twenty-nine million gazillion, which is what is needed to get that tremendously embarrassing and humiliating ass-kicking McCain is going to give him down to a merely soul-sucking and life-destroying defeat, you need to get to work.

Comment by Acadian | 2008-06-14 12:32:56

Don’t worry. After this fall, when Obama receives that totally humiliating ass-kicking, the Precious one will still be there for you. I certainly believe that the election is over for Hillary. At this point, I support the grass-roots groups because I want the issues clear and on the table and not swept away. Pelosi isn’t the only person who can get a message out. So can we.

And WHEN you lose in November, I want you all to remember exactly why. You blew it with huge groups within the party. You insulted working class people up the yin-yang. You insulted the majority of women voters in the party. You shoved Latinos aside in caucuses and treated them badly in states that we need to win.

YOUR Obama tactics is why you’re going to lose.

Hillary is out of the game for this time. She wouldn’t want to win based on some horrible situation that damages the party or the country.

She’s convinced that he’s unelectable. She made her case. The innner circle wanted her out. They won.

But we all watched closely, and we now don’t even respect the Democratic Party in general, nevermind the presumptive nominee.

You blew it.

Comment by catherine | 2008-06-14 11:31:31

Agreed, but these Obamaturds are too obtuse to understand facts. I suspect most of them at some point will realize their mistake and wonder to themselves wtf were they thinking. That’s exactly the problem: they don’t think…they allow themselves to act on emotion without any rationalizing or historic perspective.

Comment by D | 2008-06-14 11:50:39

Exactly. To be honest I don’t see how Hillary can get back to being the nomination (particularly because if she does, Obama supporters will then cry foul because they already think Obama HAS been nominated *rolls eyes*).

But to be honest, this whole race has been a shambles. There are so many little twists and turns, bad decisions, mud-slinging, back-stabbing and major influence from the media. It’s just a mess. And I blame the DNC for it all. The only problem is, they will never admit they did anything wrong.

I wouldn’t blame Hillary if she told the DNC ‘bye bye’ forever. She’s infinitely better than them.

Comment by Mary | 2008-06-14 15:55:00

I DO hope Bill and Hillary have “other plans” than to campaign for Obama in the fall. After he and Clyburn implied they were racists, I really think the Clintons should JUST SAY NO.

Let Obama win on his own. Clyburn and Jackson and Brazille and Conyers can campaign for him.

Comment by Tampa Bay Dave | 2008-06-14 12:17:42

Oh, yes. Those ever-dedicated, gullible college kids.

“…young people do not understand the ideals of citizenship, they are disengaged from the political process, they lack the knowledge necessary for effective self-government, and their appreciation and support of American democracy is limited.”

From “The Dumbest Generation,” by Mark Bauerlein.

The oft-repeated assertion that Obama has succeeded in bringing these kids into the political process is a complete fiction. They, in fact, have no understanding of or use for “the process,” or our system of government. That’s why they love Mr. Cool. Haven’t you heard? He is going to CHANGE everything!

He won’t. Because he can’t. Our system works deliberatively by design. The Founding Fathers were wary of “change”–that’s why they set up three branches of government, and believed so strongly in the wisdom of checks and balances.

Barry’s meteoric rise in politics is frightening. Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Adams, et al. tried to protect us from the likes of Barack Obama. Unfortunately, they were counting on an informed electorate.

And, in 2008, there’s the rub. God save us from Obama’s herd-mentality college crowd. Clearly they’ve failed to progress beyond the infantile love of shiny objects.

Comment by D | 2008-06-14 11:57:50

This is something I’ve tried to point out to Obama supporters for so long! Obviously there will be some of his supporters who actually do believe in him as a politician, but I firmly believe that the majority of people support him because he’s “cool”.

Obama isn’t a politician anymore (actually, was he ever?)… he’s a celebrity. I’m sure Oprah helped, but remember, celebrities are cool!

BTW, before anyone tries to slam me for patronising young people… I’m 22 myself. While I do indulge in a lot of ‘cool’ things, politics & the running of a country is something way too important to be turned into a popularity contest.

Idiots, with NO CLUE what Obama, or Che stand for…

The best government is our own democracy, it needs to cleaned, though.

Che was a kook, Obama is a kook, the neocons are kooks, a house of loons, top to bottom.

Obama stole the election, that isn’t democracy, Obama has never WON an election.

I’m sure he will be a wonderful President, and the people supporting him, even better, as they feel the American voter is no longer relevant, their judgement superior.

Yeah, it shows in the trolls, fucking brilliant, fucking brillinat.

“What does this mean?”

“Nothing toots, nothing, it’s over your head…’

Dear moron,

It is not about Hillary. We DO NOT WANT OBAMA! And unlike the lemming-like behavior of Obamabots, we do not follow Hillary without our own independent thought and analysis. Obama is unqualified, hypocritical, deceptive, unqualified, exhibits terrible judgement and lack of character, unqualified, arrogant, and oh yea…unqualified. I know it’s hard to grasp, but foreign and economic policy knowledge and experience are actually important to some of us. Your single-celled devotion to a simplistic marketing package is pathetic. That’s what you all missed: you thought if you just eliminated Hillary, we’d all board the love train–it’s not going to happen.

Why don’t you use your energy trying to convert those “racist and dumb folks” you all ridiculed in key states like Ohio, PA, and West Virginia. Good luck with that.

Comment by Disconnect | 2008-06-14 11:29:30

You mean, that’s why Obama is already winning polls in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and is within two points in Virginia and North Carolina? But go on, keep this nonsense up, if you think this childish footstomping is ultimately going to reflect well on Hillary, guess again.

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-06-14 11:51:16

What polls…and the 527s haven’t even started up yet. Think Rev. Wright ‘Goddamned America’/Pfleger/Michelle(yikes)’for the first time I’m proud of my country’ on an endless loop playing in Middle America, in the south, on the west coast…no we’re just a sliver (albeit the one that will tip the scales) of the problems that Barky has. It’s all about perception. And the republicans know how to frame things in 30 second sound bites. There is no way any Red Blooded American liberal or conservative can watch that and want to vote for barky. There’s a saying in politics. People are more likely to vote against something than vote for something.

you cant handle the answer is that it? an endorsement doesnt mean our votes go with it if the person isnt qualified etc ad nauseum we have argued these points for months..

all the “push out” of Hilary has accomplished, that instead of waiting for August, it has freed our wallets and energy to work for McCain, speaking for a few million of us only, LOL!!

we have seen for months how this was a selection not an election, many of us arent hurt anymore many arent just to be labeled pixxed “per say” (disillusioned, disappointed, disenchanted, disgusted still ,yes probably so)but many of us accept this is a dirty backroom deal that was planned for years and we will do what we have to now with the options we have, for our families and our country and ourselves and that is, for many of us, voting for McCain, that is the simple truth for many of us

perhaps “You cant handle the truth!” ?

I’m an AA ardent Hillary supporter who will be voting for McCain.

Sorry, Manning is a nutjob. He’s just a flip side of Wright.

And both are part of the Pandora’s Box that this biracial candidate has unleashed on American Society as the result of Obama’s unashamed and unapologetic race-baiting. All done in the name of getting him elected.

Obama is a gutless biracial coward. He has exploited the tragic history of African Americans to which he has no genealogical connection to. The only African Americans he is related to by blood are the little girls he sired.

No true African American would have spawned this kind of racial ugliness and hostility. And look around him, at his inner circle and the people who are doing his bidding, they are practically all white. A great deal of the race-baiting has been done by white Obama supporters.

Blacks have been duped by their desperation and by the many fawning whites that sent them the message that this man of color has a real shot at becoming POTUS. And AAs are simply going for the prize. Most have not apprised themselves of what Obama stands for politically. They only see a man of color. There is so much misinformation about Obama in the AA community it’s insane.

I watched this video and what I don’t understand is why any white person would need to have a black person give them permission not to have ‘white guilt.’ Especially with regard to Obama who is half-white. You all need to CALL HIM ON HIS WHITE HALF.

This is an election. He is a candidate. This is a democracy, the primary feature of which is choice. You have the right to support the candidate of your choice. And you have more than enough solid and good reasons why that candidate is NOT BARACK OBAMA.

Why do you thnk I’m not voting for him?

Hie’s inexperienced. Unqualified. He doesn’t have a command of the issues. HE’S A PROVEN LIAR. He won’t respond to legitimate inquiries. He’s secretive. He race-baits through his supporters and then pretends not to to. He’s a SEXIST PIG! He is connected to all sorts of unsavory types. He claimed to be the candidate of superior judgement, yet everyday his judgement has been called into question.

AND HE’S NOT FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE!

I might as well vote for McCain because I know in 2012, I’ll get it.

My point is there are enough good reasons NOT to vote for Obama without elevating Manning to celebrity status. He’s a whacko. And worse, he has no ideology. He’s just another clergy whore who wants attention.

Stop giving it to him!

Comment by McBush | 2008-06-14 11:36:34

I MOSTLY agree with you, but take issue with

And look around him, at his inner circle and the people who are doing his bidding, they are practically all white. A great deal of the race-baiting has been done by white Obama supporters.

The biggest race-baiters have been Jesse Jackson Jr. and Donna Brazile. JJJr. is the co-chair of his national campaign and the same douchebag who whined about Clinton’s tears/”Why didn’t she cry for Katrina victims?” (and I THINK he might’ve been the one to bring up the O.J. reference, too…I don’t remember now, but JJJr. IS the one who tried to strongarmed/guilt-trip the Congressional Black Caucus into voting with their race). Donna Brazile is the one who vilified Bill/forwarded the “omg, he’s racist!” b.s from the fairytale comment, I believe.

Comment by mimi | 2008-06-14 12:58:36

I didn’t forget about Jackson Jr. and Brazile. But what about Koz, Huffington, and all the trolls that show up around the Internet and make comments? How about the way the pollsters ask questions about race and then the networks feed it to the public?

Let’s not put all the race-baiting in the laps of Jackson Jr. and Brazile. Obama has had a lot of help from his white supporters. There’s one on this board right now. (Whom I intend to ignore, btw.)

And this is why I say you all need to call him on it! His mother was white, after all. He was raised by his white grandparents. One of you need to ask him : “What’s all this black ideololgy bullshit coming from a man whose mother was white and was raised in a privileged lifestyle far away from the scourge of black urban America?”

All I’m saying is don’t forget about Obama’s white half and the white supporters who are exploitng racism and white guilt in order to get your vote.

Comment by McBush | 2008-06-14 13:51:59

Ignore me if you want Mimi, but it’s your conscience talking to you. You would like to BELIEVE I’m white, but you know better, and really doesn’t matter. And btw you won’t get ANY cosigners in your attempt to defend Donna b. (whom I love and NQ hates vociferously) and JJ. You just don’t get it. There is a distince undertone of black resentment on this board. One poster with the name “No Negro For President”. Uppity Woman once referred to AA’s as ingrates for not supporting Hill. RedDragon inferring that the Congressional Black Caucus is an example of reverse discrimination, based solely on the name Congressional Black Caucus. These are your Cohorts???? Your on an island baby girl and I feel for you.

Mimi……it’s disgusting. My heart goes out to AA posters like yourself.

I think race relations have surpassed this election by miles.

We’re just not there anymore. That was MY parent’s generation. Nevermind my son’s generation’s attitude.

I think it’ll be connected to the personality.

He’s responsible.

Comment by McBush | 2008-06-14 17:13:42

I have this video on my blog, this man is scary, he has other motives why he wants to be the POTUS and we must never allow that to happen, Hillary supporters need not to be tricked into voting for him under the guise of ‘lets attack the media together’, Obama is at fault for bringing everything that he did not approve of the Clintons to the medias attention. He caused her to fail and he cares nothing about her women, just wants them for their votes.

Comment by Disconnect | 2008-06-14 10:49:20

He “caused her to fail”? You mean by daring to run against her? Hillary isn’t an emperor. She failed to win the pledged delegates (even BEFORE the MI/FL deal). She came close to winning, but she didn’t. Is the fact that last Saturday she endorsed Obama something that you all are just willfully ignoring? You all remind me of the Scots who used to insist that Bonnie Prince Charlie was going to return from exile to save them from the English. Devotion to a candidate is nice, but you guys have gone beyond devoted and are now into batshit crazy, and frankly you seem to be lacking sense and perspective. The US isn’t required to have a President Clinton. She had her chance, and she came up short. That’s reality. Try to deal with reality once in a while.

So, when Obama becomes President, I take it that you’ll be taking up arms against the government? Maybe form a militia? Plot your assassination? The Democrats are going to rout the Republicans this fall because the Republicans have no accomplishments to tout and no ideas to run on.

Comment by It's Not Me | 2008-06-14 11:08:47

Think again. BO WILL NOT WIN AGAINST McCAIN. What planet do you live on? The GOP is foaming at the mouth to run against Obamarhoid. They have all their Racist Rev. Wright ads, William Ayers ads, Michelle “I hate America” ads, Rezko ads, Auchi ads just ready and waiting. The also have the Michelle “whitey” tape and cannot wait tp run THAT in October. Obamarhoid doesn’t have a chance in hell of winning against the GOP slime machine.

Hell, look at what they did to MAX CLELAND! The man left his limbs in Vietnam and they destroyed him in his reelection campaign, for crying out loud. How about War hero John Kerry (puke)? He was such an easy mark for the Swiftboaters.

Obamarhoid will be lucky to win Illinois (should he be allowed to steal the nomination) in November. The GOP THRIVES on dirty campaigns. They eat this shit for breakfast. Obamarhoid will be a shadow of himself by the time they finish with him and his not-so-charming-wife, Michelle.

He just wanted to get that “plot his assassination” quote in, it’s obviously one of the talking points the Obamessiah gives his trolls. Sorry to tell you douchebag, Larry forwards any direct threats of such violence to the secret service like a true American. Unlike the Obama campaign website that allows such threats against Hillary to stand until an outside website points them out.

Those you see following the Obamessiah are not Democrats, though the species may try to look similar. They are in fact nothing but JACKASSES!

Slime machine? As a democrat, I hope they put out nothing but truthful ads regarding Obama – which is radically (pun intended) different than the fantasy persona, created by BO and his handlers. Only brainwashed believers who refuse to look at the facts will be fooled by this plastic messiah. From Savage Politics:

“Another supposed smear that he is now “fighting” against, is the one that deals with the “rumor” that his books somehow contain ‘racially incendiary remarks’. He claims, on his anti-smear site, that his words are “truncated and taken out of context”. Again, in this example, Obama does not present any counter evidence for this “truth” and only provides unsubstantiated misdirection, clearly assuming that the reader should basically believe that others are lying about these issues “because Obama said so”. It is almost as if the Obama campaign knows that most of his site’s visitors have never (and will never) grab one of his own books to find out the truth for themselves.”

In his own neighborhoods, he allowed his constituents to go without heat and took money from a slum lord to buy his home. Hope you can believe in? Not my kind of hope.

Look at that. He’s even behind in N.Carolina.

Imagine that. Not enough lattes there?

What happened to redrawing the map? *hooting*

Comment by McBush | 2008-06-14 11:59:00

Listen A, if you call the ambition to turn some southern states blue a fib then Hill would be buried in lies WAAAAY to many to list here. More importantly, It’s still early, and O is more competitive in some southern states than any other Dem in the past 20 or so years. Wait until after the convention and let’s see where we stand with the polls. By all accounts (even your new buddies at FOX) right now O is in control of this election.

Comment by JozefAL | 2008-06-14 12:28:08

Um, McObama, you might want to remember which Democratic candidate PROMISED to bring in Republicans and Independents to win. Of course, I’m sure the DNC (or, as it should now be known, the ONC–the Obama National Committee) expected he meant the general election in November, and not just the primaries and caucuses.
Hillary never made any promises of WINNING any red states, but she did tell people (and many of the polls have shown it) that she would be much more likely to win major swing states in November but she NEVER promised to bring in Republicans or Independents as some overall nebulous “hope and change” policy. And you might want to look at the last few electoral maps made during May and compare how Hillary did compared to Obama in head-to-head match-ups against McCain. The last Obama vs McCain map I saw showed neither one winning (although Obama led but he was still nearly a dozen electoral votes away from winning outright, and McCain wasn’t far behind).

Comment by McBush | 2008-06-14 12:50:56

It’s not Hill’s promises of winning states that I was referring to. Look we can analyze this many ways. Let’s wait until after the convention. Annin takes joy at the latest polls of the day that favors her candidate when we are really just starting. Let’s see where we are in late August, then pound our chest. Right now everything just rings a little hollow.

Now….I have other choices: Obama or McCain. Those are MY choices, to be made in private. And none of your business.

But it has nothing to do with Hillary anymore. So you’ll need to let that go.

Some Democrats may vote for McCain. Some may stay home. Some may vote, but leave the top of the ticket blank.

THEIR choice. NOT yours.

But you might just as well accept that the Obama campaign and his supporters have deeply offended half of the Democratic Party.

And insulting them even more, as you’re doing here, won’t help bring them back to Obama.

Americans who don’t vote for Obama because they think he’s unqualified don’t owe you an explanation, dear.

I don’t hate Hillary. She had a poorly run campaign that made repeated tactical errors and ended up $30 million dollars in debt. She lost the nomination by failing to win the majority of the pledged delegates per the rules of the DNC which she agreed to abide to. Nothing has been “stolen” from her. She clearly has passionate supporters, but at the end of the day she came up a little short. Considering that her platform proposals really aren’t that substantially different than Obama’s, if you felt that she had the best best ideas for turning the US around, then try to look past your own bile and realize that the Democrats are poised to take this country in the right direction. Oh, by the way, did I mention that seven days ago Hillary endorsed Obama on National television?

We ask you Hope to change what??? That is the question. Everything out of Obama’s mouth he’s flipped flopped, umumumum and can barely think on his feet.

He’s an unknown and we still don’t know who the heck he is.

Comment by Linda C. | 2008-06-14 12:23:31

A pluralty of pledged delegates is required not a majority of pledged delegates. How many times do we have to teach these fools. Neither Obama nor Clinton received a plurality of pledged delegates. You know for being called the “higher education” demographic, I have to wonder.

Did Hillary make mistakes..Sure did. However, Hillary managed to compensate for her mistake and was still winning even when the media and her peers were telling her to get out. She was outspent 3 to 1 and still managed to win.

So who actually made the mistake in the end. Obama couldn’t close the deal. Obama royally ticked of the core democrat voters that actually give money to the DNC and vote consistently democratic. Obama did more than just disenfranchise those Reagan Democrats. He disenfranchised the literal bread and butter of the party. He does not have enough time and doesn’t seemed to be inclined to come back and get us either.

This election is going to come down to a vote against McCain or a vote against Obama. No one is actually voting “for” anyone. Sad really. However, understand McCain took the nomination from nowhere without big money or a large machine. He went to the people and talked to them. Obama won’t do that. When McCain gets thrown from the proverbial horse, he gets back on. Hillary Clinton does the same thing. Obama runs away and blames others. As the general election heats up, Obama is going to make more mistakes and so will McCain. McCain will get up and keep going. Obama will run away unless something changes about Obama’s character.

So I don’t know who is going to win this election and I am not going to predict. However, given the character of each of these men. It isn’t a slam dunk for Obama. From McCain’s point of view after spending 5 years in a POW camp, this is child’s play

Comment by JozefAL | 2008-06-14 12:54:22

Linda, I have to correct you on something (at least, if I’ve read your comment correctly, you made a mistake in terminology).

You posted “A pluralty of pledged delegates is required not a majority of pledged delegates. How many times do we have to teach these fools. Neither Obama nor Clinton received a plurality of pledged delegates.”

A “majority” means winning 50% or, in some instances, 50% + 1. In the House, with its 435 members, 50% would be 217.5–since all members have a full vote, it rounds up to 218. In the Senate, with its 100 members, 50% would just be 50, which means there would likely be 50 on the opposite side; 50% + 1 would mean 51, making for an outright majority. (The “50% + 1″ tends to be more pronounced when the vote count in the 1000s or 1000000s.) But with the Electoral College and its 538 Electoral votes, a 50% win would be 269 BUT that would only be enough to win in the case of a “faithless” elector OR there was a third-party candidate who won just a single electoral vote. With 270 Electoral votes, you have the “50% + 1″.
A “plurality”, on the other hand, is when one candidate wins based on having more votes than another candidate but has not achieved the 50% mark. Clinton, for instance, won both of his terms with only a plurality of the popular vote (meaning he failed to win 50% of the popular vote); George W Bush and Al Gore, in the 2000 race, BOTH failed to reach the 50% mark in the national popular vote (as was noted in 2004, Dubya was the first person to win an outright majority of the popular vote since 1988).
From the outset, it was the Obama camp’s rallying cry that whoever won the nomination had to do so with a clear majority of the PLEDGED delegates and that the superdelegates’ votes should not (and would not) be necessary; as the contest drew tighter they started hedging their bets and said the superdelegates should vote “the will of the people” and NOT the candidate they thought best for the party’s chances (of course, when Hillary started winning more of the later primaries and it was clear that no one was going to win a clear majority of the PLEDGED delegates, the whole “supers voting the will of the people” meme was pushed by the wayside and the Obama camp began pushing the Hillary camp’s initial “supers should vote their conscience”).

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-14 13:26:35

The SDs should vote their concience, and I believe a large number did that.

Some people aren’t very evolved, obviously, on the conscience level. Those are the ones who took orders from Pelosi that only delegate count mattered or, as Clyburn promised, “blood would run in the street.”

Fear. Intimidation.

It worked.

Comment by McBush | 2008-06-14 14:19:21

And there is the CRUX in the fault of your paranoia. How can a junior Senator and his political supporters intimidate his way to a primary win against a more senior senator, an ex-Prez and a signicant amount of party insiders on her side. Let’s not forget when we started this process Hill had 200+ more superdelegates, and somehow she lost the superdelegate lead through intimidation???? Paranoia (or just plain ignorance) at it’s most evident.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-14 15:09:21

Easily…….”The blood will run in the streets.”

That was the key statement in the entire election.

Clyburn. That’s how.

He put the fear of Riots and Bloodshed into the race.

Shame on him. Shame. Shame. Shame.

but, he was probably right.

Obama has stirred up race problems. It’s dicey.

I pray Hillary steps away and stays stepped away.

She is not, as accused, willing to do anything to win.

Obama clear is, however.

Hillary may have lost the nomination. But her voters are still out here and we can be the difference between victory and defeat in November.

Talk to us. Hillary did. Give us some firm policy positions. Hillary did. Show some knowledge of various problems in different states. Hillary did.

Show that your candidate knows where the Great Lakes are. Or that the main language in Brazil is Portuguese. Something I already knew and I’m not running for President.

To say she cares nothing for women is amazing. Hillary set up an office in the WH specifically for women veterans. I’m speaking from personal experience.

So is this the new Obama talking point that Hillary is just using women? Try again.

If Obama thinks he can get our votes by trashing Hillary he’s destined to lose.

We will remember in November.

First you dismantle a major political party, set yourself and your henchmen up as Emperor and the Imperial Guard, keep your followers in an extended trance, woo the press and large sections of public opinion, and then crush all opposition and dissent.

This isn’t Orwellian-like. This is Orwell in your face. It’s neither new nor original. Charles is right–if you’ve read your history, you’ll recognize the sleazy patterns.

I hate to sound like an alarmist, but I have an awful feeling of something wicked this way comes. Right now? We’re sitting on the cusp.

Keep pushing, keep posting, keep asking the uncomfortable questions [and there's plenty of questions out there] And no, questions are not off the table or simply “old style, divisive politics.” Obama needs to be drilled on details, details, details.

I’m not suprised BO turned McCain down on the Town Hall appearances. He’d have to think and talk on his feet without the teleprompter. Too dangerous. Too revealing. It might put a hiccup in the groupie love fest.

that’s why i’ll vote mccain, even though i’m in a solid red state and could easily just write in hillary or vote nader or whatever without changing the outcome.

not only does obambi need to lose the electoral vote big time, but also the popular vote big time. that way, his followers’ claims of racism or whatever will fall on deaf ears and even our tone-deaf party “leaders” will get the message (as they’re being replaced by real leaders).

Obama will win and America will end. The attempt to control what we see and think is just getting started. The new Presidential powers that bush enacted will be strengthened and enforced by Obama to his theological ends. Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton is the only candidate that even mentioned turning from those presidential controls. She has been for all Americans. Obama has not. She has the record of fighting for Americans. John McCain has a record fighting for all Americans. Obama has a record fighting for? Obama wins America ends. Bush set it up Barack Hussein Obama will finish it.

I’ve pretty much decided I don’t want the Democratic Party’s change platform. I no longer trust them. Pelosi, Dean, Kerry, et al, abused their position power. OK. They got their coup.

However, now I don’t believe much that comes out of their mouths about any policies.

Take the Veterans Bill. I automatically started reading up on the reasons why the Republicans defeated that bill. I never would have done that in the past, but the mistrust I have for the Democrats is sky-high.

I think they presented a very traditional tax and spend Democratic bill that harks back to the 60’s.

Bill Clinton did a fabulous job of showing the country that Democrats can be fiscally responsible and not all about social welfare programs that keep people poor and on the government dole. (btw….I’m not suggesting the Vet bill is that.) The Republicans spent us into a humongous deficit.

We were set to go with establishing ourselves as the true fiscally responsible party.

That bill had no brakes on it whatsoever. It was a mock bill, guaranteed to lose and be used as a publicity stunt.

I don’t respect that tactic by the Democrats, but I saw what they are really like in the inner circle.

Therefore, I will not be publicly supporting the Democrats.

In my own state, I’m fortunate. Diane Feinstein and even Barbara Boxer are pretty OK senators. Barbara at least kept neutral until it was over, as promised.

But the Rep side led by Pelosi? I’m not sure I’ll even vote for that gang.

First 2008 Presidential Town Hall Meeting

Last Thursday night, John McCain held the first of what he hoped would be ten joint town hall appearances with Barack Obama. Unfortunately, Senator Obama chose not to attend. The town hall meeting, at Federal Hall in New York City, was broadcast live on The Fox News Channel. This historic location is where President George Washington first took the oath of office. At the event, John McCain answered questions about important issues facing voters this year, including the economy, energy prices and the war.

Last week, John McCain invited Senator Obama to participate in this event, hoping to start what would be a series of ten town hall meetings where both candidates would travel the country to answer questions from real voters. Senator Obama has yet to agree to meet us in these town halls, which would revolutionize our political process and start a real change in the tone of politics. John McCain believes in this effort and is putting it into action. There will be another town hall meeting next Thursday, so be sure to check JohnMcCain.com soon for more information.

Everyone knows that the Marxist Obama wants. He wants to socialize and destroy our healthcare system under the guise of so-called “universal healthcare”. He wants to cut and run from Iraq and cower down to Iran. John McCain is a true war hero who is NOT afraid to use force against Iran. John McCain will also prevent the appointment of radical left-wing activist judges to the supreme court. The only problem I have with McCain is his belief in the hoax that is man-made global warming… but i believe that will change once he is elected. Together we can can make sure McCain is elected president in 2008!

Comment by Linda C. | 2008-06-14 12:39:37

Joe conservative
Look up the economic advisers of Barry. Partially privatizing social security doesn’t sound very socialistic to me. He has no plan for universal health care. Just making it “available|” for everyone “who wants” it. McCain wants to make health care “more affordable” so “more people can have coverage”.

Foreign policy? Brzenski and company. Arming religious fanatics to fight the Russians who ultimately fly plans into US buildings. Maximizing divisiveness and using groups as pawns for another cold war. Providing arms to Pol Pot wannabes as long as it stops Russia influence…hell with the death of innocents while proclaiming “human rights” the whole time.

Sounds like the same old thing and more acceptable to republicans than democrats

Obama’s had well over a year to show whether he has any substance. Instead, he’s stayed with the phantoms named Hope, Change and Unity, along with uttering the occasional “me too” to Hillary’s positions I’ve tired of looking for the substance any more. I’m simply ignoring him, as well as skipping over posts from his childish trolls who frequent No Quarter and similar places.

Maybe Larry could do a story on this and what is Obama`s stand regarding the superhighway ?

When completed, the highway will run from Mexico City to Toronto, slicing through the heartland like a dagger sunk into a heifer at the loins and pulled clean to the throat. It will be four football fields wide, an expansive gully of concrete, noise and exhaust, swelled with cars, trucks, trains and pipelines carrying water, wires and God knows what else. Through towns large and small it will run, plowing under family farms, subdevelopments, acres of wilderness. Equipped with high-tech electronic customs monitors, freight from China, offloaded into nonunionized Mexican ports, will travel north, crossing the border with nary a speed bump, bound for Kansas City, where the cheap goods manufactured in booming Far East factories will embark on the final leg of their journey into the nation’s Wal-Marts.

The Real Clear Politics average of polls shows BO has dropped to a 3.8 point lead over McCain.

Three days ago he had a 6 point lead that all were applauding as his huge “bump.”

Now, he’s lost 2.2 points in less that 3 days.

This was probably one of the best posts I have seen on NoQuarter because it attacks the central issue with Obama and with American politics. Everyday I am amazed at how many people are willing to make a man with practically no experience…a man who has never managed a serious budget…a man who was having personal financial issues before his books hit the presisdent of the most powerful country on the planet.

I just don’t get it. People talk about “change” as if you wake up and it happens.

Comment by Annie Oakley | 2008-06-14 12:49:43

This is a fabulous post. Notice the heavy flak? Covering it with crap because they can’t address the issues he raises.

Politics has real life consequences and for Obama supporters to project the change they want to see on a man who has yet to deliver an ounce of change is frankly delusional.

Comment by Mel | 2008-06-14 11:52:48

Wakey wakey folks

Obama is taking over the DNP war room for elections for all Democrats across the country. Anyone figure out why?

Senate alone 17 seats up for grabs, 15 GOP seats. Obama controls these he almost has a 2/3 majority in the Senate.

Congress has almost as many up for achieving a 2/3 majority.

What is possible with a 2/3 majority in the US Congress?

Constitutional Amendments.

Basically impossible this go around to achieve, but not after 2010. Obama controlling in chicago the Democratic war room over elected officials, it is achieveable then.

Look at the big picture, want to learn more, read up and learn the operations of Frank Marshall Davis, Obama’s mentor since the age of 10.

There is so much so wrong with Obama, it is scary and beyond that, with his present known associates, you think a staged terrorist act is not possible?

If Obama is POTUS he has the right to suspend the Constitution. Don’t think it only happens in places like Pakistan, a year ago who would have ever thought caucuses would turn out to be open revolts and controlled riots?

Today looking inside the normality of US politics is gone, now you have to look outside at tactical over throws in other countries to learn. This is not as someone said an experience, it is a reality practiced in many other countries, now being practiced in America.

Do not be shocked by it, it is your country, do somethign about it. You think for a milli-second Obama will tell you what his objectives are, you are crazy, so follow what you have seen occur in this election and see it practiced to different degrees in other countries and you will see one thing, the exact same similarities!

Comment by Teakwood | 2008-06-14 15:51:44

Mel, the BIG picture is lost on BO supporters. Thanks for saying what I have been studying and observing for the last 15 years.

These posts and this blog play an important role in our life under the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights. So long as writers remain grounded in historical facts (i.e. words of reputable eyewitnesses, recorded actions and comments, and/or research from original documents), their willingness to offer fresh or different perspective is at the core of having an informed electorate. That these facts do not serve the purpose of the current presumptive Democratic Party nominee is totally irrelevant. There is more to this political campaign than winning and the citizens of this country have every right to know what they might get themselves into by using only emotions as the basis for their vote.

This is one of the most chilling ads I’ve seen and that includes a child plucking daisy petals with the explosion of an atomic bomb in the background. Cultish, messianic chanting by celebrities that reminds me of 1930s news reels.

The psychologist that put this together used an old trick with the hypnotic chanting of “O-Ba-Ma” by a group of well known faces. Unfortunately, that’s all it is; smoke and mirrors for the masses to keep them content long enough for substance not to matter.

But it won’t fed the masses and when the masses aren’t fed they usually begin chanting slogans of their own.

I really like Fiorina. I caught her campaign outreach ad on another site. Unlike Obama, McCain has demonstrated very good judgement having someone like Carly Fiorina as a friend and spokesperson. She’s tough, smart and real. I think she’ll appeal to a lot of undecided Dem voters, women in particular.

She’s an Ace up John McCain’s sleeve. And I’ve wondered if she’s on the VP short list.

Nothing about OB is authentic, he has stolen ideas, concepts, everything from others. That’s the problem when you try to just “throw” a campaign together, he has to steal ideas from others who are successful (doesn’t mean you have to agree with their product).

If BO is elected, it will motivate the GOP to get voters to the polls for Senate and House seat elections.

Just like Gingrich did to Bill Clinton.

Republicans — who are clearly more politically astute than the average Obama supporter on the blogs — will do everything they can to STOP a Democratic president presiding over a Democratic majority in the house and senate.

But the average “We Are The World” starry-eyed Obama supporter on the net is completely ingnorant to the political nuances.

Obama tells you something as vague and oblique as: “this is the moment the oceans began to heal” and you swoon.

Word to the Obama camp: your mindset and your messianic worship of Obama represents a tiny percentage of the country.

You are a fringe group, sweeties! Fringe. Group.

And the proof is in the math — a virtual tie with McCain who has barely campaigned while Obama has spent enough money to support a small third world country.

Wait till the GOP hits him full force after Denver.

Don’t assume politically savvy Independents will ignore Obama’s play to move the DNC to Chicago. This will blow his credibility with Independents.

You’re naive — and your Hillary-hating ditto-heads on MSNBC have HANDED the White House to the GOP. You and your goofy Obama-pushing Dr. Dean have done this country GREAT HARM.

Hillary was our true hope.

Your Hope-a-Dope leader is all hype.

Yes, I agree that there is a sickness. I have never seen such rabid followers. Furthermore, Obama didn’t change his Chicago district for the better, he made it worse by ignoring his slumlord buddy Rezko who let thousands of poor blacks live in squalor and without heat during one of the coldest winters on record. That is so sinister–to look the other way while people suffer just for political gain.

–Also, Obama was only a U.S. Senator for ONE YEAR before he announced his candidacy, and meanwhile, he votes 130 times present, and he claimed 6 of his actual yes or no votes as accidents since he pushed the wrong buttons. He is woefully inexperienced.

I am not diss’n anybody for hoping against the wind. Why else would I vote Nader? But many Obama supporters have said, “that’s not realistic.” Some dreamers. He’s fought for decades to make things better for Blacks, Whites, Latinos, and all Americans in a truly universal manner, and is the real deal. “Nobody’s going to get elected unless they play the game”, I’ve heard. So do you really want change, or to just feel good about yourself while the world suffers?
Nader cannot compete with Obama’s cold hard cash. He can offer real hope for real change, if America wants it.

There were only three red states this election year that were going to vote Democratic: KY, AR, WVa. And they were voting for Senator Hillary Clinton. If you think Obama can win the election, my hat’s off to you. But please look at the political landscape of post-2004 election and check out John Kerry’s electoral votes. Obama will be somewhere close to that. Thanks to the DNC and Obama, we have turned MI into a swing state…but, BO might win CO, doubt it though. You all keep hoping for those red states. I mean, isn’t that what all this is about, Change and Hope! LOL And that 50 state strategy? Where do you think BO got that idea? The Democratic Party has been usurped by Easterners and Mid-West Chicago thugs. Glad it is your Party and not mine.

They’re hoping for red states to bail them out because red states are what helped Obama in the primary. a quote fro man Obamatan, above: “Get it through your thick skulls, Hillary lost. She endorsed Obama. She said that the goal of the party is to DEFEAT John McCain.”

MILLIONS, yes MILLIONS of Americans were disenfranchised by Obama, the press, their own party, and Obama’s supporters.

WE. WILL. NOT. FORGET.

NOBAMA!!!!!!!

What is beginning to amuse me, in an almost perverse way, is that the cultists who have been listening to this silver-tongued phony have convinced themselves that as soon as their cult leader’s opponent _suspended_ (not ended) her campaign, that we would all come over to the fold.

THAT is going to be their first MAJOR disappointment, and I for one and elated at that. I have NEVER seen a candidate so dissed by her own party and the press as Hillary was. It was a political and press assassination, period. (including the accusations that Hillary was encouraging Obama’s end).

Also, did you see that hope piece of S**T video, with nary a Caucasion in it? Like there are no hopeless people in WV, or KY.

Seriosusly, you Obamatans are a scary lot; this is starting to look like cult worshipping.

Larry, perhaps you can set up a de-programming site for these lost souls. They’re a sad, pathetic lot.

Okay, that commercial about made me vomit and did nothing to persuade me to BUY CROCK O’SCAMA. Really, who is behind the marketing over there? “Hey, let’s get some washed up, mousey, c-list celebs to chant ‘Obama.’ That’ll reel ‘em in and be the perfect counter-offensive to the Republican attack ads that’ll be coming our way.”

WATCH OBAMA’S MEGA HIT ON YOU TUBE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HE STANDS FOR:

‘OBAMA GIVES FINGER TO HILLARY’

Now let’;s have this immature juvenile arrogant smug Chicago cultist FLIP-OFF Sen. McCain.

Obama trolls…get out of this area. Go to Chicago and commiserate with Mao Tse Dean and Herr Barack. Just get your garlic-noses outta here! Better still, go sing a Hymn of Praise for the Saint of Hope at Trinity. They need new choir master…you can help…
