The Birth of Whitey: Black Liberation Theology and The Nation of Islam

Jesus says, “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45

While researching the source of Michelle Obama’s alleged “whitey” rant, we discovered direct connections between the Nation of Islam (NOI), Stokely Carmichael, Jeremiah Wright’s Black Liberation Theology and, most prominently, Louis Farrakhan.

According to Larry Johnson’s sources, the Michelle Obama tape captures her in sordid company:

The sources who have seen the tape report that Michelle says
disparaging things about “whites” and that Louis Farrakhan is visible.
There is no identifying information on the segment they have seen to
identify the location or time when this was recorded. [emphasis added]

Those who are following this matter will recall that Michelle Obama, when asked about these allegations, is reported to have said that “whitey” is not a word used by African Americans today. However, we documented that Mrs. Obama’s primary text for her Princeton thesis was Stokely Carmichael and Charles Hamilton’s 1967 book Black Power: The Politics of Liberation in America, and we showed how Carmichael used the term “whitey” repeatedly, thereby establishing an epistemological connection between Carmichael and Mrs. Obama. In other words, Michelle Obama is the intellectual offspring of Stokely Carmichael.

Before going further, it should be noted that Reverend Jeremiah Wright was once a member of the Nation of Islam, though it’s not clear when he was involved with NOI. Ryan Lizza of the New Republic first reported that:

Wright was a former Muslim and black nationalist who had
studied at Howard and Chicago, and Trinity’s guiding principles–what the church calls the “Black Value System”[Emphasis added]

But back to Stokely Carmichael. Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, the Federal Bureau of Investigations has released hundreds of pages from their files on Stokely Carmichael. It’s a treasure trove for those interested in the history of the civil rights movement. What we found most interesting, however, were the large number of documents connecting Carmichael with the NOI. For instance, the document below is an Airtel sent to Director Hoover on July 29, 1966, from Chicago. The subject is Stokely Carmichael and it concerns NOI leader Elijah Muhammed’s “CALL FOR SUMMIT MEETING, MAJOR CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS.”

There are three areas of interest for us: first, the Airtel came from the city of Chicago; second, the year 1966 (more on that later), and third, that the Nation of Islam — in the manner of the infamous mob meeting in Apalachin in 1957 — was organizing all of the major civil rights groups.

It has been widely reported, and documented here, that Carmichael was an “Honorary Prime Minister” of the Black Panther Party, and that he was the leader of the innocuous sounding Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). The following document, however, shows that Carmichael was open to violence as a political tool–see the highlighted sentence below–”This nonviolence bit is just a philanthropic hang-up,” and that he was indeed a founder of the Black Panther Party:

In the following document we initially noticed Carmichael’s willingness to use violence. He is paraphrased as saying that “in his opinion, the black man is justified in using any means at his command to obtain what he believes is due him,” indicating an acceptance of violence as seen through a racial frame. What’s more interesting, however, is the next paragraph. “Louis Walcott, Minister of the New York City Muslim Mosque, Nation of Islam, also participated in this conference.” See the second paragraph below:

The name Louis, of course, was glaring. Could it be he? A quick Google search linked to a 1996 Morning Edition transcription of a Bob Edwards piece on Farrakhan:

The early life of Louis Farrakhan, who grew up as Louis Eugene Walcott, was heavily influenced by his loving but demanding mother and his poor but safe neighborhood of Roxbury, Boston, in the late 1940s.

Over the last decade, Louis Farrakhan has emerged as one of the most visible and formidable black political leaders in America

Let’s add up what we have so far: Stokely Carmichael, Michelle Obama’s primary source and intellectual ancestor, shared the stage with Louis Farrakhan, the same man who she allegedly shared a stage with when she said “whitey.”

Carmichael and Farrakhan may have shared more than a stage. The document below indicates but doesn’t conclude that Carmichael may have been a Muslim himself. Although heavily redacted, the FBI’s source said that “Stokely Carmichael, [redacted] as ‘one of us’ which this source interpreted as meaning a member of the Muslims.”

Whether or not Carmichael was a Muslim is unclear. What is clear is that at sometime in the summer of 1966 there was a meeting of the minds between some civil rights groups, black radicals, and the Nation of Islam. These groups organized into a force promoting and preaching a racist form of black nationalism. The document below describes a meeting that clearly shows this union of forces: Carmichael and Minister Louis “made it clear they wanted to unite with all Negro groups regardless of philosophy.” Note the date of August 18, 1966:

This takes us back to Jeremiah Wright and the question of when Wright was a Muslim. According to Wright’s Wikipedia entry:

In 1963, after two years of service, Wright joined the United States Navy and entered the Corpsman School at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Wright was then trained as a cardiopulmonary technician at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

“In 1966, as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman,” the Wikipeida entry continues, Wright assisted with the care of President Johnson. Extrapolating from these dates, it appears that Wright was in Maryland between 1964 and 1966, and this may have been the time when he was a member of NOI. Wright didn’t start at Trinity until 1972, and evidently received spiritual training after receiving a master’s degree in English in 1969.

Also in Maryland in 1964 was Stokely Carmichael, where he was arrested “as a result of demonstrations in that city.” This doesn’t mean that Wright knew Carmichael, but surely Wright was cognizant of Carmichael’s work and of NOI as well. This is likely the time when he was a “Muslim and black nationalist.”

However Wright was radicalized, it is clear that he consciously appropriated the language and tenor of the Nation of Islam.

Wright’s statement that 9/11 was deserved retribution (We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans…America’s chickens are coming home to roost”) is a perfect echo of Malcolm X’s statement that “The assassination of Kennedy is a result of that way of life and thinking. The chickens came home to roost.”

Although it appears that Wright began his focus on Black Liberation Theology sometime after 1966, his racial attitudes and rhetoric have imitated that of NOI since at least 1970. Wright’s blaming the United States for creating AIDS to kill minorities is but just one example of his thinking being in lockstep with NOI.

Black Liberation Theology was first formed in 1966. According to NPR:

Black liberation theology originated on July 31, 1966, when 51 black pastors bought a full page ad in the New York Times and demanded a more aggressive approach to eradicating racism. They echoed the demands of the black power movement, but the new crusade found its source of inspiration in the Bible.

Keep in mind that NOI’s Elijah Mohammad called for a summit of black leaders on July 11, 1966, only 20 days prior to the official formation of Black Liberation Theology. If the dates don’t convince you of a synergy between NOI and Black Liberation Theology, please note Wright’s mentor — and Black Liberation Theology founder — James Cone’s words about NOI’s Malcolm X:

Malcolm X was not far wrong when he called the white man ‘the devil.’ The false Christianity of the white-devil oppressor must be replaced by an authentic Christianity fully identified with the poor and oppressed.

The black intellectual’s goal, says Cone, is to “aid in the destruction of America as he knows it.”

Couple these words with Wright’s own view that:

There will be no peace in America until whites begin to hate their whiteness, asking from the depths of their being: ‘How can we become black?’

In 1998, Louis A. De-Caro, Jr. published a book titled Malcolm and the Cross: The Nation of Islam, Malcolm X, and Christianity. De-Caro’s book underscores the racial nature and revolutionary intent of the NOI’s promotion of a black “Christianity”:

Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam based their religious orthodoxy more on the Bible than on the Qur’an. In part, this was because they sought to convert black Christians. More- over, Elijah Muhammad taught that the Bible, actually the story of “dark people,” had been distorted by the white man in order to enslave and oppress black people in the United States.

PaganPower succinctly captures Michelle Obama’s thesis and shows how it dovetails with the thinking of Cone and Wright:

A logical expansion of this would be to say that white people, because of the color of their skin, have a separate innate belief system and have their separate innate set of morals too. In other words, it’s all in the melanin.

The Nation of Islam and Black Liberation Theology are two doors to the same room. Black Liberation Theology is a “palatable” form of “Christian” black nationalism. The fiery anti-American, race-baiting words of Wright, Meeks, Pfleger, and Moss are from the same philosophical cauldron as the Nation of Islam. It’s obvious now why Wright’s Trumpet Magazine featured Farrakhan on the cover:

Some have said that Michelle Obama’s thesis proves nothing because it was written more than 20 years ago. We suggest that it was no accident that the Obamas sought out Wright a mere 2-3 years after she wrote her thesis and stayed with him for nearly 20 years, even while he preached the vilest and most hateful sermons that our nation has been forced to hear. TexasDarlin writes:

It’s no wonder that the Obamas joined Trinity United, grew close to Jeremiah Wright and Michael Pfleger, and actively defended the church. And there is no doubt in this alert reader’s mind that Michelle Obama clung to Trinity as long as possible politically and, unfortunately for her husband, perhaps many years too long for most voters’ palates.

But the Obamas’ connections to the Nation of Islam go deeper than Rev. Wright. Louis Farrakhan’s political connections extend to the Obamas directly through Chicago politics and Tony Rezko. Larry Johnson writes that:

Before Barack came on the scene, THE MAN in his political district was Louis Farrakhan. No one could take Alice Palmer’s seat without Farrakhan’s blessing. No one. I do not fault Barack Obama for seeking out the blessing of Farrakhan, but the story of what was done behind the scenes to get rid of Barack’s predecessor—Alice Palmer—has not been told. A knowledgeable source tells me that Tony Rezko played a direct role in this feat. And Rezko has been tight with Farrakhan.

At some point, probably between 1964-66, Jeremiah Wright was a member of the Nation of Islam and was indoctrinated into its odious brand of racist theology. And make no mistake, Wright’s race-baiting is not indicative of the vast majority of black churches. A pastor at LivePrayer writes:

Please hear me very clear. Black liberation theology is a perverse view of the Scriptures and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a radical view held by a very small minority of black pastors. This is NOT representative of the black church or the overwhelming majority of black pastors who preach and teach the true Gospel of Jesus Christ without looking at it thru the lens of color. Every black pastor I know condemns Dr. Wright and this perverse racist theology.

In 1966, a group of “Christian” ministers, at the behest of Elijah Mohammad, began to preach the same teachings as NOI. Stokely Carmichael and Louis Farrakhan actively worked to bridge the gap between these two groups, and Carmichael would soon publish a book espousing much the same separatist ideas. Carmichael’s book “guided” Michelle Obama’s thesis and soon she and Barack would join Trinity United Church of Christ.

The continuity of the teachings of Carmichael, Farrakhan, Cone, and Wright is incontrovertible.

Christopher Hitchens asks:

how is it that the loathsome Wright married him, baptized his children, and received donations from him? Could it possibly have anything, I wonder, to do with Mrs. Obama?

And of course there is this picture of Michelle and Mrs. Farrakhan, a picture which speaks more than a thousand words:

This clarifies so much!

Anyway, I’ve been posting the following link in various threads because I think it’s indicative of the disillusionment that’s sure to follow.

This is an extraordinary youtube video of an Obama supporter–via BytheFault–who’s beginning to see the light.

Thanks for the link to the “bythefault” video. This young man appears to be centered and very thoughtful. It was a pleasure to see someone so young with such a wise approach to thinking for himself. Regardless of how he votes in November, he made me stop what I was doing to listen. Very well done.

Wouldn’t be ironic that a possible “swiftboating of Obama” could come from his own Former Supporters…..

Obama would only be getting what he sooooo deserves….

I do like the line about Michelle saying that
“whitey” is not a term current in the AA community.
That’s so damn funny. I must have missed that one when it was reported.

So Michelle, what’s currently in vogue? It just implies that “well, yeah, I call white folks all sorts of shit, but ‘whitey’ ain’t one of them.”

Personally, I feel in a moment of passion, people of racist bent like to pull out all the classics.
“Whitey” has got to be in the top ten.

Nauseating person, that Michelle.

Will be glad to see her, and her brand of hate, go away.

Great cartoon as well. Obama definitely is a bag man.

Obama has some big money behind him, terrorist and kook related.

AFAIK, Duke does not.

See the difference?

Ah, the brilliant PR trooper, we are so blessed.

Stupid troll.

Seems there is only 1 DEGREE of separation with Obama and Farrakhan…..being Michelle Obama.

Obama will be throwing Farrkhan and all his followers under the bus—as it wasn’t that difficult for him to throw Rev.Wright under the bus.

OBAMA = MACHIAVELLIAN = EXTREMIST

….any means necessary.

Political Science 101

As far as Michelle Obama being soooo Angry…..with her new and expensive Makeover …. Obama can claim…hey — that’s not the Michelle I know….look at her now…she’s not angry…she’s pretty and passive, here–try her cookies…

Comment by alexei | 2008-06-20 10:34:12

There isn’t even one degree. Farrakhan is the king maker in the Obama’s Illinois State Senate District. Obama had to be in with Farrakhan to get that seat and has LJ states, to rid Palmer.

This is slimey and scary radical. He is unfit even to be a State Senator as shown by his corrupt actions in the Pay to Play scheme.

Second you are all falling over yourselves with your bigoted ranting.

Third it’s funny you leave out the “S.S.”.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-20 12:37:29

What bigoted ranting? We were just discussing the bigoted ranting that passes for gospel at TUCC and Michelle Obama’s thesis and how Black Liberation Theology actually does use the word “whitey.” In typical Obama fashion, you automatically fall back on the “he / she did it” argument. Well, we’re all waiting. How can you connect John McCain and David Duke? No bigoted ranting, mind you.

Another outstanding piece of investigative journalism, Bud. The Obama campaign can deny and spin, but the continuity you point out from Carmichael, MO’s “intellectual ancestor” through 20 years of Rev Wright imitating him is undeniable. And it’s all woven through with the thread of NOI.

This should be in the NYT. This is the work the MSM SHOULD be doing.

Comment by TexasDarlin | 2008-06-20 09:53:24

What Medusa said.

Outstanding work, worthy of the mainstream.

This documents what I have suspected: a clear link between the Obamas and NOI, Black Panthers, and extreme separatist philosophy.

It’s no accident that they chose and stuck with TUCC.

Comment by Karma | 2008-06-20 10:44:13

I suspect that one of the reasons the trolls come here is to see if there is any truth to NQs concerns with Obama.

If we are dismissed as simply racists and then they see facts here, it sticks with them. They are afraid of being calling racists for going against the Obama, so they leave the expected post of disgust.

But things like Palmer, Rezko, Auchi, Ayers etc can’t be written off as racist or as trival as Bosnia-gate.

They know deep down inside something isn’t right with Obama. That is why they are here.

Comment by Troll local 172 President | 2008-06-20 11:08:50

Actually, if I may speak for the trolls from chapter for a moment –

In all honesty, we come here because, frankly, we’re just not very gracious winners.

Troll local 172 represents the Chicago area, SE Wisconsin and much of NW Indiana — and we’re quite familiar (and confidant) in Barack Obama. We think he’ll make a wonderful President, just as we thought he’d make a wonderful Senator back when he was a distant 3rd in the 2004 IL Dem Senate primary.

But back to why we come here…

As I said, we’re just not very gracious winners, unfortunately. Better trolls than us might choose to just let you stew in your silliness, rant and rave, weave the most tangential of threads in some futile attempt to create some magic tapestry that will put an end to the good ship Hope…. we are not those better trolls.

We prefer to engage the racists (who insist they’re not racist, despite constantly citing racists), the nuts (who think they’re not nuts, despite making the nuttiest claims), the liars (who claim not to be liars, despite constantly lying), and the dead-enders (who say they’re not dead-enders, even as the Clintons climb aboard the Obama express).

We enjoy mocking you.

We enjoy correcting your misstatements. Make no mistake – we have no illusions about changing your mind… nothing short of decades of intensive therapy by highly trained mental health professionals would make that possible.

Call it practice. Call it sport.

Let me be clear, though — before you whip out the tired “He’s like teh BUSH!” crap — it’s most certainly not a ‘with us or against us’ scenario.

We absolutely recognize that reasonable people can disagree. We don’t expect everyone to fall in line. However, we also have enough vision to recognize those that are “against us”, and are quite willing to be ‘against’ the folks — like the bacteria here — that have no scruples, no morality, no decency, and see no boundaries for the smears, lies, and slander you’re willing to toss.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to ask — we’re happy to answer them.

Thanks

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-20 13:15:51

But how can you not be like Teh Bush when you use terms like “deadender” which is a term introduced to the lexicon by assholes Rummie and Shooter. Mind you, McCain got Rummy fired, so they’re not part of the same clique. Obama sounds more like the old fascists of Teh Bush administration than McCain does.

I watched the primaries with horror as Obama repeated Karl Rove’s “high negatives” comment in press interviews whenever discussing Clinton. The staple of Obama’s core political message was that “Washington insiders want to boil and stew all the hope out of him.” This eagerness to attack your opponents for exactly what you are doing like flip flopping on the war or supporting NAFTA and the I’m-a-uniter-not-a-divider pitch, is reminiscent of the Bush 2000 campaign, which Rove managed. Not surprising when you note one of Obama’s speechwriters, Ben Rhodes, is the brother of Fox News VP David Rhodes.

He sounds like George W. Bush. You people sound and act like Teh Bush supporters. You cannot reconcile these two statements: “We enjoy mocking you” and “We absolutely recognize that reasonable people can disagree.” When you sound like Karl Rove, you are not reasonable. I say this with the utmost respect for Karl Rove who I consider a brilliant political strategist but capable of the sleaziest campaign tactics.

Republicans, to their credit, ditched their freepers and nominated a nice, sensible moderate McCain. It seems the radical left of the Democratic party has spawned their own neolib plague. Make no mistake, the general public will recoil from your candidate in horror this fall.

We appreciate the thoughtful letter from your precinct and look forward to maybe hearing from the DC chapter of the Obama troll union. Your little cesspools will be the only parts of the country who vote for your rotten Bush clone this November. Enjoy your summer which will be a footnote to the Civil Rights movement and nothing more. We will keep up on the latest gossip here at NQ as we boycott the MSM and gleefully anticipate a landslide victory for John McCain.

Troll Local 172,

The only racists here are the Obama supporters who hurl such insults at everyone who simply questions Obama.

And of course Obama trolls who steal other people’s identities and post racist remarks. The threads are filled with regulars who know that those posts don’t represent the debate that is going on here, and are pointed out immediately.

If this place was a racist site, I wouldn’t stay. I was raised better than that.

To try and smear people as nuts, liars and dead-enders for simply disagreeing with someone only reflects poorly on you as you ignore the real debates. Such as with Palmer, Rezko, Auchi, Ayers, etc…the subjects placed in my post you responded to.

I have no illusions either about the foolish people who refuse to do complete their civic duty and research the candidates. They are the same ones ignoring the fact that this same media sold them Dubya and the war, and now Obama. So, while you try and smear us as needed mental health professionals.

Please know, that I don’t care what you think. I wasn’t raised to be a sheep with my opinions spoon fed to me. It is a shame that so many were not taught to think for themselves or to verify the MSMs claims through research.

So everytime an Obama sheep, such as yourself, bleats racist….racist….racist….etc.

It isn’t hitting the intended target you claim to be aiming for, such a mockery, etc

I just feel for them that their mothers didn’t teach them how to think and pity their ignorance that they repeatedly reveal when bleating such things.

Bleat on sheep….bleat on…..

there are OTHER litanies, ya know.
FIRST FIRST LADY to come under criminal investigation

FIRST FIRST LADY to almost be indicted acccording to one of the special prosecutors

NUMBER of Hillary Clinton fundraisers convicted of, or pleading no contest to, crime: 5

NUMBER OF TIMES that Hillary Clinton, providing testimony to Congress, said that she didn’t remember, didn’t know, or something similar: 250

NUMBER OF CLOSE BUSINESS partners of Hillary Clinton who ended up in prison: 3. The Clintons’ two partners in Whitewater wereconvicted of 24 counts of fraud and conspiracy. Hillary Clinton’s partner and mentor at the Rose law firm, Webster Hubbell, pleaded guilty to federal mail fraud and tax evasion charges, including defrauding former clients and former partners out of more than $480,000. Hillary Clinton was mentioned 35 times in the indictment.

IN THE 1980s, Hillary Clinton made a $44,000 profit on a $2,000 investment in a cellular phone franchise deal took advantage of the FCC’s preference for locals, minorities and women. The franchise was almost immediately flipped to the cellular giant, McCaw.

HILLARY CLINTON AND HER HUSBAND set up a resort land scam known as Whitewater in which the unwitting bought third rate property 50 miles from the nearest grocery store and, thanks to the sleazy financing, about half the purchasers, many of them seniors, lost their property.

IN 1993 HILLARY CLINTON and David Watkins moved to oust the White House travel office in favor of World Wide Travel, Clinton’s source of $1 million in fly-now-pay-later campaign trips that essentially financed the last stages of the campaign without the bother of reporting a de facto contribution. The White House fired seven long-term employees for alleged mismanagement and kickbacks. The director, Billy Dale, charged with embezzlement, was acquitted in less than two hours by the jury.

HRC’S 1994 HEALTH CARE PLAN, according to one account, included fines of up to $5,000 for refusing to join the government-mandated health plan, $5,000 for failing to pay premiums on time, 15 years to doctors who received “anything of value” in exchange for helping patients short-circuit the bureaucracy, $10,000 a day for faulty physician paperwork, $50,000 for unauthorized patient treatment, and $100,000 a day for drug companies that messed up federal filings.

TWO MONTHS after commencing the Whitewater scheme, Hillary Clinton invested $1,000 in cattle futures. Within a few days she had a $5,000 profit. Before bailing out she earns nearly $100,000 on her investment. Many years later, several economists will calculate that the chances of earning such returns legally were one in 250 million.

IN 1996, Hillary Clinton’s Rose law firm billing records, sought for two years by congressional investigators and the special prosecutor were found in the back room of the personal residence at the White House. Clinton said she had no idea how they got there.

DRUG DEALER Jorge Cabrera gave enough to the Democrats to have his picture taken with both Hillary Clinton and Al Gore. . . Cabrera was arrested in January 1996 inside a cigar warehouse near here in Dade County, where more than 500 pounds of cocaine had been hidden. He and several accomplices were charged with having smuggled 3,000 pounds of cocaine into the United States through the Keys

In 2000, Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaign returned $22,000 in soft money to a businesswoman linked to a Democratic campaign contribution from a drug smuggler in Havana.

IN AUGUST 2000, Hillary Clinton held a huge Hollywood fundraiser for her Senate campaign. It was very successful. The only problem was that, by a long shot, she didn’t report all the money contributed: $800K by the US government’s ultimate count in a settlement and $2 million according to the key contributor and convicted con Peter Paul. This is, in election law, the moral equivalent of not reporting a similar amount on your income tax. It is a form of fraud. Hillary Clinton’s defense is that she didn’t know about it

HILLARY CLINTON’S participation in a Whitewater related land deal became suspicious enough to trigger an investigation by the Arkansas Supreme Court.

IN 2007, A Pakistani immigrant who hosted fundraisers for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton became a target of the FBI allegations that he funneled illegal contributions to Clinton’s political action committee and to Sen. Barbara Boxer’s 2004 re-election campaign. Authorities say Northridge, Calif., businessman Abdul Rehman Jinnah, 56, fled the country shortly after being indicted on charges of engineering more than $50,000 in illegal donations to the Democratic committees.

HILLARY CLINTON SUPPORTED the appointment of Rudy Giuliani’s buddy, Bernie Kerick, to be Secretary of Homeland Security,. Kerick subsecquently withdrew and not long after was indicted.

Comment by NY still loves Hillary | 2008-06-20 13:05:12

Hmmm, you guys still afraid of Hillary? I’m not surprised.

But seriously, Whitewater? And when did the Special Prosecutor that wasted over $40 mil. in tax dollars indict her?

And please don’t tell me you’re going to go after her on Health Care. There’s nothing in your supposed source’s allegations that’s particularly threatening to me, not to mention that the plan you cite isn’t her current one, and Obama’s plan isn’t Universal.

And of course Obama didn’t have to return any dirty campaign money this year either, right?

Look, Clinton’s not perfect. She’s done some things I don’t like. So has McCain. But they’ve also both done some things I do like, unlike Mr. Two Trick Pony. And to the best of my knowledge, no one’s ever linked Hillary or Bill Clinton to a radical theology that advocates the overthrow of this country.

What’s really rich is that Obama supporters and trolls accuse us here at NQ of being Anti-Obama, when you yourselves started out as nothing more than an Anti-Clinton movement. At least we did some research before selecting the candidate we found to be the most representative of our views. None of these people are a panacea; it’s just that 1 of them (Obama) represents a threat to everything that America stands for.

Clinton and McCain have both risen to the challenge. Obama has merely been exposed for the fraud he is.

“Those who are following this matter will recall that Michelle Obama, when asked about these allegations, is reported to have said that “whitey” is not a word used by African Americans today. Obama. In other words, Michelle Obama is the intellectual offspring of Stokely Carmichael.”

Wrong. A and B don’t mean C. Hate her for whatever reasons you want. Just like the rights unfair hatred of Hillary for the last 20 years. But, your “in other words…” argument is inherently false and without justification from your first 2 statements. You cannot conclude C rom A and B. But I’m sure you won’t let this get in the way of your hatred.

Comment by Steven Mather | 2008-06-20 10:55:33

Dear Openmind,

I read your argument as follows:

You agree with Bud White that because Carmichel and Hamilton’s book is the focal point of the epistemological lens that MO uses to analyze and synthesize her research, then MO is epistemologically connected to Carmichel and Hamilton. This is your A and B.

C, to you, is the claim that MO is the intellectual offspring of Carmichel and Hamilton.

You say that the claim that A + B = C is inherently false and unjustifiable.

Given that epistemology concerns systems of knowledge, belief, and justification (how one sees the world), it is your contention that MO’s adoption of the worldview of Carmichel and Hamilton in her thesis, in no way, shape, or form makes her their intellectual offspring.

Your claim is absurd because it is grossly overstated. It would have been valid for you to say that MO has had many epistemologically primary influences in her life and, therefore, that Carmichel and Hamilton are more like uncles than parents, when it comes to their influence on her worldview.

It is true that Bud White stretches his point a bit far. It is utterly ridiculous, however, to claim that these uncles have not and do not influence her way of seeing the world, unless you can offer evidence that she has rejected her thesis work, such as by living her life in way that repudiates the values that Carmichel, Hamilton, and she, in her thesis, promoted.

Yours,
Steven

This should be a main post on here and on other sites. The guy in the vid says that he believes because of the comment ratings on Obama’s Youtube site, that Youtube is manipulating the vids/comments and it has sort of a “big brotherish” feel to it.

DAMN RIGHT IT DOES! Isn’t this what many of us have been saying all along? Youtube controls the rankings and skews a lot, especially when one performs a search.

The media has been twisting everything around to Obama’s benefit. For example, the two Muslim women who were not allowed to be in Obama’s backdrop. The major news networks said it was because his campaign did not want it to appear as if Obama was a Muslim by doing so. Of course it provided many opportunities for Obama’s surrogates to say “of course we all know Obama is not a Muslim”. Well, we agree, but he says that he has NEVER been one…that is just a lie.

People just do not get the point. When you add everything up, who this man is become clear. The motivations of those who surround him are clear. In a few months the choice the American voters will need to make will become clear as well.

The world is controlled by elves that live in an elm tree in Obama’s backyard — and that elm tree was bought for them by Tony Rezko! And Bill Ayers!

We must stop these elves before they take complete control and force us all to work in their underground cookie mines…. Then they will funnel the profits to Iran, so it can build inter-stellar nuclear weapons and destroy Mt. Olympus!

Obama, Hillary Clinton to campaign together

Obama to campaign with former rival Hillary Clinton in step toward unifying Democrats

NEDRA PICKLER
AP News

Jun 20, 2008 09:55 EST

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s campaign announced Friday that he will campaign with former rival Hillary Rodham Clinton next week, a step toward unifying a fractured Democratic Party after a bruising primary fight.

Obama’s campaign said in a brief e-mail that said the two senators and former opponents will campaign together for the first time on Friday, June 27, and more details would be forthcoming.

A day earlier, Obama and Clinton also plan to meet in Washington with some of her top contributors in an effort to calm donors who remain frustrated with Obama’s presidential campaign. The former first lady will introduce Obama to her financial backers.

Clinton, a New York senator and former first lady, suspended her campaign for the Democratic nomination earlier this month after Obama, an Illinois senator, secured enough delegates to clinch the nomination.

“Kill Whitey” is what Michelle Obama is have alleged said on the tape. It was in the context of black on black crime wherein she extolls instead of blacks killing black that they should ‘kill whitey’.

Chicago is an behemoth is the vast wasteland of the midwest. It dominates many states unlike the Northeast corridor where you have competing cities of power like New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. The geographic isolation creates a turf warfare atmosphere where anyone aiming for a place at the top has to follow the beaten path of council, city and state corruption. Its a way of life.

This isolation is a reality for the Black Liberation theology to which they project onto the rest of American society. Other cities meet racism, and try to overcome it. Chicago, however, hate is the fertile ground and reinforcing hate ensures that turf is not encroached upon. The benefactors are the hate mongers i.e. Wright and Farrakhan. The losers ultimately are the Chicago black population forever mired in the eternal struggle between blacks and whites that is exhalted by the religious leaders.

Look at the political leaders from Chicago, Jessie Jackson Jr, Donna Brazille, Wright, Farrakhan and you see a lineage of unrepentent racists. So inculcated in their hatred that they view it as normal.

If they would allow themselves a moment to contemplate that America, at its heart, has moved beyond race and thus have evolved. There is a slight chance that they too may move on and seek help for their self-inflicted sickness.

I went back home to Chicago, for a visit, about three years ago.

I thought race relations, among the people, anyway, had never been better, the divide, gone, or at least vastly improved, from what I remembered.

I was impressed, the integration, the tolerance, the feel in the city MUCH better than it was.

Same with conservative FL, btw, far more tolerant, far more progressive than I remembered.

Wanted to punch out the DK type yuppies, and their republican counterparts though, clueless, talentless little snobs.

Cool iphones, though.

Really.

I mean it.

Really cool iphones.

Comment by Destardi | 2008-06-20 10:54:38

Race relations among the working class is NOT race relations among the elite…

and wright, farrakhan, the obamas, and anyone in power in chicago…ARE NOT THE WORKING CLASS.

F*ck black liberation theology.

How about American liberation?

No to race-baiters!

Your “documentation” about Michelle Robinson’s thesis is full of shit. Black Power was not the primary source of the thesis: far from it. It was the primary source for one key analytical term (”separatism”) that was used in her thesis. Yet this ridiculous “documentation” was swallowed hook line and sinker here. Anybody who has actually read the thesis would be able to see in a moment the overwhelming BS in your post about Carmichael.

Comment by TexasDarlin | 2008-06-20 10:24:56

I read that she tried to get the thesis redacted, a very rare occurrence.

Wonder why.

Comment by Hermagoras | 2008-06-20 10:28:05

Lots of people don’t like what they wrote in college. Why don’t you read the thesis? It’s freely available, and there’s nothing scandalous in it.

The worst charge that can be made is that it’s not particularly well written: there are typos and writing errors throughout. But that’s the way it goes with undergraduate theses.

Meanwhile, Bud White trumps up an utterly bullshit allegation, and you praise it without thinking. Typical TexasDarlin.

Comment by Johnny at Work | 2008-06-20 11:30:15

There’s a lot of people in prison and in hell who also do not like what they once did.

It does not mean thy do not belong there or we should suddenly set them all free.

Western Civilization widely recognizes that by the time you are 18, if you are a mentally competent being, you know right from wrong, and are responsible for your action.

There are consequences for action we take. The Obama’s have no ight to a free ride.

We have a right to know exactly who they are.

Adults do not change. That is why recidivism is so high among criminals, and sex offenders. It’s pathological.

Unless Michelle can show here writings were satire, or she was advocating a view as a lawyer, and it was not a view she held on her own, her writing is representative of who she is.

Comment by Hermagoras | 2008-06-20 11:34:13

Unlike you, I’ve read her thesis. There’s nothing scandalous in it. And contra Bud White, Black Power is not the primary text behind it. Bud White cannot read a thesis: can you?

Unlike BO, Hillary is a loyal democrat and good to her word. But while she may support and fundraise for BO, most of her 18 millions supporters will not.

Here’s the bottom line: It’s not about Hillary any more. The fact is, BO stole the nomination with the help of party leaders, and by doing so, he’s corrupted the entire democratic party.

He is inept and unqualified for dozens of reasons. His wife’s racism is only one.

So did Stokely Carmichael advocate separitism instead of Black Power? What’s the difference?

Comment by Hermagoras | 2008-06-20 18:40:39

Assuming you want to understand, here’s the deal: on page 8 of her thesis, Michelle Robinson notes that Carmichael and Hamilton “developed definitions of separationism in their discussion of Black Power which guided me in the formulation and use of this concept in the study.” That is, their concept of separationalism guided her use of that term. Why? Because other writers she cites, such as van den Berghe and Billingsley, also use the term: but Carmichael and Hamilton apply it in ways that Robinson finds useful. How? This is how:

The idea of creating separate social structure and cultural structures as suggested by these authors serves to clarify definitions of separationism/pluralism as they function in the dependent variable which tries to measure the respondents’ ideologies concerning political and economic relations between the Black and White communities.

In other words, the concept as used by Carmichael and Hamilton is productive for Robinson’s survey design. The thesis does not advocate separatism: it uses social science methodology to understand how Black Princeton alumni understand their experience.
The main thing that Bud White demonstrates is that he is an idiot.

Tomorrow it will be “Not the theology that he knew”.

Surprise!

Meeechelle needs to come clean!

Comment by NY still loves Hillary | 2008-06-20 11:12:30

Sorry BluDawg, but I disagree. It does matter. The reason he is trying to hide his Muslim leanings isn’t because of what the radical Islamists did on 9/11/01, it’s because (as has been documented thoroughly here on No Quarter) the entire concept of Islam is all-encompassing. The whole point is to eliminate anyone that is not Islamic. Just like the whole point of Black Liberation Theology is to eliminate anyone that doesn’t see the white race as evil.

This is very serious, and if we don’t wake up soon it will be too late! I do believe that Barack Obama is just in this for himself, the money, and the power. Unfortunately, those puppet masters of his have much more sinister intent than even he realizes. After reading Bud’s excellent expose, I am starting to believe that perhaps the person most responsible for foisting this narcissistic shell upon us is none other than Michelle Robinson Obama, who obviously holds this half white buffoon in nearly the same level of contempt that she holds the rest of non-black America (and the world). What remains to be seen, however, is if she realizes that some of the people she and Barack are in bed with (Arab muslims) hold blacks in contempt as well, regardless of their faith. (See Dharfur, or virtually any other race struggle going on in Northern Africa – virtually all based on Arab vs. Black ideology.)

Yes, that is an excellent piece.

“In the 2000 election, it was Democrats who worked around the clock to make certain that the overseas military vote was NOT counted, using any technicality available in election law to disenfranchise as many military votes as possible. That’s because military votes always lean 8-1 Republican.”

Using any technicality available – who does that remind us of… just shout it out if you know.

I am from a large family of Irish Catholic Democrats. Some live in FL, and when the Dems pushed to NOT COUNT VOTES of the overseas military, they ALL became Republicans.

I held out hope, but that last spark of hope for the Party was stompped out by the DNC.

I’ll still consider a Dem if their ideals are those of a Kennedy or Truman.

For all of the disparagement that “Whitey” has taken from Michelle, Carmichael and any number of other clown Trinity Buppies, there is one “Whitey” who must now be praised:

Bud Whitey.

Fantastic work, Bud. As Medusa astutely points out above, this is something which the out-of-the-loop-on-purpose MSM needs to pick up, go over and run with in order to educate its readers about the almost interminable depths that the Carmichaels, Farrakhans, Wrights and Obamas have sunk to in their fatally skewed pursuit of racial and social ‘justice’ over the years.

This anti-intellectual poison exists and has obviously been fully absorbed by both Obamas. That is why they feel it is not only ok but good for their daughters to hear the madness spewed by Wright, Pfleger , Moss and others.

I agree with Deep Truths above: Chicago is the mother of all American racial and political cesspools. As DT aptly says, it is allowed to become so because of its isolation.

Like the Galapagos Islands or some other out-of-the-way locale, such areas often are the breeding ground for evolutionary creations which could never thrive under more open circumstances. It is no accident that Wright, Jackson, Farrakhan, Daley, Rezko, Ayers, Blagojevich and Obama have all either sprung from, or migrated to, its confines. The place is an anachronism of cronyism and radicalness that needs a very deep and searching defoliation in the worst possible way.

Another Midwestern urban enclave which has suffered dramatically is the Detroit of the Kilpatricks. Just ask Tamara Greene. Oh, wait, you can’t. Just like you can’t ask Donald Young about Hussein O., Trinity or Wright.

Anyways, as bad as The D may be — and it seems pretty damn bad these days — it has nothing on The Second City. With Stick Man and his “Untouchables” quotes leading the way the Chi-towners are determined to try to convert America to Thug Life.

No effing way. And thanks to excellent investigative work like what Bud has done here, the nation’s electorate will be able to see and dodge the Obama knife headed for its back before the Manchurian Candidate’s blade can ever pierce the skin and leave Old Glory lying in a heap.

We already had one Benedcit Arnold. Ain’t gonna be no sequel.

November = NoBama.

OK Obamabot paid bloggers… answer these questions:

1) Is it not true that Barack Obama attended Trinity for 20+ years?

2) Is it not true that Trinity publically espouses a “Black Liberation Theology” view?

3) Is it not true that this philosophy began with Cone?

4) Is it not true that Cone said: The black intellectual’s goalis to “aid in the destruction of America as he knows it.”

If you answered yes to these questions, which you must if you’ve answered truthfully, then how do you answer this?

5) Why would ANY American vote for a candidate that associated themselves with such a philosophy for 20+ years?

I await your (hehe) astute responses. Please spare me the standard “racist” line written in kool-aid stains. These are VALID questions every American should ask themselves.

I am feeling a little demoralized at the moment, but I am starting to think that even if there is a tape of MO demeaning the “white” citizens of America, the MSM will make the comments out to be acceptable and justified because MO is “black”. I am afraid that there is no limit on how far the MSM is willing to go in order to get Obama elected. The fact that Obama got a pass on beng a member of a hate filled church, and in fact Obama was praised for his first speech when he could not denounce the hate mongering Wright, has made it clear that “blacks” are immune from charges of racism as far as the media is concerned.

It is open season on non-AAs, politically speaking.

TAQIYYA.

Do look it up.

People just don’t understand it, here. It’s quite common in the Muslim world.

It’s basically a religious pass to LIE.

If you feel that you will be endangered, you could be harmed, hurt, killed…affected in ANY NEGATIVE WAY…you are allowed to LIE YOUR ASS OFF, so long as Allah knows what is in your heart. You can lie about, say, your RELIGIOUS affiliation. You can even use other religions to advance the causes of Islam, if you’d like. You’re not supposed to be mean to “People of the Book” who also worship the One God of Ibrahim, but Islam comes first. ALWAYS.

TAQIYYA.

This is happening a LOT in Iraq right now, because if you’re the wrong sect, you can be killed, with Shi’as pretending to be Sunnis, Sunnis pretending to be Shi’as, and many of them carrying two sets of ID because some names are more appropriate for one sect than another. There’s a difference in the way the two sects pray, too–not a big difference, more of a postural difference. It’s perfectly “OK” to “pray the wrong way” in order to survive.

FWIW, this TAQIYYA–it’s not viewed as a “bad” thing. It just IS.

It’s a genuine “cultural difference.” You can’t “We Are The World” this difference away, either. It is ingrained into the culture–like Mom and apple pie and baseball are here in the USA.

It’s “OK.” It’s “accepted.” It’s “normal.” In the right circumstance, it’s ENCOURAGED, and considered an act of intelligence and bravery.

It’s not bad/evil/wrong–even though it’s completely FOREIGN to the largely Judeo-Christian tradition and the customs that have emanated from it that we see here in America.

It’s something that people who haven’t had much exposure to the Islamic world just can’t fathom, because they try to put their own cultural norms and biases first.

One more time–TAQIYYA.

Learn all about it.

If Obama and his wife were uniters and changes, we would see a history of that. It’s not there.

What we see is a truly “pathetic” Obama sitting in a congregation listening to a racist, socializing with weatherman bombers, taking favors from convicted felons, doing favors for a fugitive Iraqi billionaire, issuing statement after statement clarifying and explaining all the misstatements and misunderstandings and the things beyond his control. etc ad nauseum.

No one has to convince me that this man and his wife should be no where near the White House.

Maybe the information about Carmichael, etc will catch the eyes of all those educated intellectuals who are supposed to be supporting this fraud. I suspect they’ll say “so what”?

After all John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, Maria Shriver, Jimmy Carter, Gary Hart, Al Gore, and even Hillary Clinton support him.

Next investigation should be what is motivating these people to take leave of their senses to support the puppet man.

I am having some serious cognitive dissonance here.

Mu’ammar Al-Qadhafi for Obama (excerpts from yesterday’s speech)

There are elections in America now. Along came a black citizen of Kenyan African origins, a Muslim, who had studied in an Islamic school in Indonesia. His name is Obama. All the people in the Arab and Islamic world and in Africa applauded this man. They welcomed him and prayed for him and for his success, and they may have even been involved in legitimate contribution campaigns to enable him to win the American presidency. But we were taken by surprise when our African Kenyan brother, who is an American national, made statements that shocked all his supporters in the Arab world, in Africa, and in the Islamic world. We hope that this is merely an elections “clearance sale,” as they say in Egypt – in other words, merely an elections lie. As you know, this is the farce of elections – a person lies and lies to people, just so that they will vote for him, and afterwards, when they say to him: :“You promised this and that,” he says: “No, this was just elections propaganda.” This is the farce of democracy for you. He says: “This was propaganda, and you thought I was being serious. I was fooling you to get your votes.”
Allah willing, it will turn out that this was merely elections propaganda. Obama said he would turn Jerusalem into the eternal capital of the Israelis. This indicates that our brother Obama is ignorant of international politics, and is not familiar with the Middle East conflict.

The thing we fear most is that the black man suffers from an inferiority complex. This is dangerous. If our brother Obama feels that because he is black he doesn’t have the right to rule America, this would be a disaster, because such a feeling would make him behave whiter than the white, and go to an extreme in his persecution and degradation of the blacks.

This brings back memories. I lived in Roxbury during those times. I read Mohammad Speaks – it was a good publication – it may have been the precursor to and inspiration for the alternative weeklies (Boston After Dark >> Boston Phoenix). The Black Panthers and NOI were doing good work (lots of focus in education), and it was altogether a good place to be. A bit run down, grubby as hell in places, but comfortable, cheap (those 19th C. three-story Henry James-ish row houses on Dudley Street rented for less than $100/mo), congenial – not a place to leave your car or doors unlocked, but not a dangerous place at all. People were building community. A bootstrap job was in progress.

Fine bars and great after hours places – jazz by local musicians and Berklee music school people.

One day was having a beer in the neighborhood bar when the local state representative came through the door- people stood up and cheered. He had just gotten out of jail. He was white. It was a mixed race bar.

I don’t know how to capture the spirit of those times. People were less motivated by ideology than by hope and purpose. Maybe you had to be there. I don’t think it’s something you can imagine based on any experience of the past twenty five years.

In those days it was said that Stokely Carmichael was the stick, MLK the carrot.

Then the call came that MLK had been assassinated. We packed up and moved – partly from fear (unjustified) partly from shame – and afterward shame for the fear.

So I do not clutch the pearls at the mention of Panthers, NOI, or Stokely Carmichael. I think they did and would have done far less harm than The Great Society and The War on Poverty. In fact – that reminds me … One of the young women I worked with a few years later said, “In my neighborhood there are two people you have to avoid: the brother with the white powder and the woman with the welfare check.” Splendid woman, she — her father had been lynched.

“Black Liberation Theology as it has expressed itself in the African-American community seeks to find a way to make the gospel relevant to black people who must struggle under the burden of white oppression and threatened daily by tentacles of white power” is preached by former pastor, Rev.Wright and current hip-hop pastor Rev. Otis Moss at TUCC. “Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.” and Obama says” I DON’T THINK MY CHURCH IS ACTUALLY PARTICULARLY CONTROVERSIAL”

Thank you Bud.

I appreciate the effort of looking into the govt docs about the meeting of all these groups.

That adds an extra layer of interest.

On an earlier post about these subjects I wanted to answer a post about just what type of person Jesse Jackson was, and why Michelle would feel confortable in that setting to rail against ‘whitey’.

Most don’t know that Jesse Jackson SMEARED MLKs BLOOD on himself and then lied that MLK died in his arms, in order to gain his ’status’ as a ‘leader’.

What he leads is an organization that shakes down companies for ‘donations’ so that the Rainbow Push organization won’t protest them.

From Jesse himself….and apparently his daughter is Michelle’s God-mother.

http://www.suntimes.com/news/jackson/971443,CST-EDT-jesse27.article

“Michelle Obama grew up as Michelle Robinson on Chicago’s South Side. At Whitney Young High School, a magnet public school, Michelle Obama and my oldest daughter, Santita, became tight friends. Michelle came from a loving, two-parent family.”

~~

In my opinion, Jesse Jackson, Rev Wright, Farrakan, and Obama, have no real concern for the AA community, other than to use as a threat. It is their interest to exploit the AA community for their personal gain. When you look at Rezko and Obama, it is clear helping poor folks wasn’t the goal.

They will gladly inflame the AA community for their place at the trough. They have been consistant in these tactics and are always calmed down by lining their pockets.

It gives me faith that other black Revs have come out and set the record straight about black liberation theology. Hopefully, a majority of the AA community sees Jesse and his ilk as clearly as those Revs.

An organization that exploits racism for financial gain should be no where near the White House, because it will erase all those years of gains.

And folks wonder why the Republican party is in such a shambles and enjoying some of it’s worst public opinon ever. None of you here have a shred of proof. A lot of innuendo, suspicion, rumor, misrepresentation, incredibly faulty reasoning, and outright lies, but no proof.

It’s well and fine to voice concerns, to speak your suspicions. But to make blatant claims, then have nothing to back them, then go on to look for another way to support that claim after it’s clearly fallen on it’s face(yes I am speaking about the ridiculous “whitey” video that STILL is not present)is just plain sleaze.

Instead of , “So and so has the video”, instead of “It’s availble at so and so”, or instead of even “We were wrong and there is no video”, we are given, “Wait till october then it’ll appear”. Then, when that fails miserably, we are given what looks as loony as any government alien conspiratorial rant ever made in an attempt to somehow prove Mrs. Obama is a racist. The whole time, it’s never outright admitted, WE WERE WRONG THERE IS NO VIDEO.

Where did this all originate? With a RUMOR that there was a video. And where has it led? Not to the video aka “proof” “validation” “evidence”.

No, it has led to a guy going through 20 years of records, and finding a college paper, then trying to tie sources and references in that paper into an all ecompassing proof of Mrs. Obama’ racism, using tenuos association, and faulty resoning ie”Post hoc ergo propter hoc”. Look it up if you dont get it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_hoc_ergo_propter_hoc

And the faithful here eat it up without a qualm. What really worries me, and SHOULD worry all of you is the truth behind every bit of this going on here. The truth that it’s not about being an american, or wanting the best representation possible in our highest office. It’s not about making wise decisions, or demanding honesty and integrity.

No, for you folks here, and this blogs author, it’s only about “us and them”. Our side winning. Nevermind being wrong, decietful, or harmful. Just so long as we win.

THAT is why American politics are such a shameful mess, and THAT is why the American public squarely shoulders responsibility for that mess. Because the American public buys it, plays it, every day.

Obama wants to change that. He wants it to be about politics working for the good of the people, the good of the country. And that simply does not sit well with those who have no intention of letting something like integrity and honor get in the way of winning.

Whether you like it or not, this silliness here is the minority, thank goodness. Maccain has no chance and Obama will be our next president. Personally I can’t wait to hear the wailing that begins when it happens.

The tape, the tape! We must find the tape!

Some people just aren’t willing to take a step back and see the truth.

This has nothing to do with winning (at least for us). It’s about what we will lose if Obama wins in November. Why do you think that people who have voted straight Democratic tickets for 30 or 40 years have posted here that they would rather vote McCain than allow our country to be hijacked?

But no matter what happens, I can guarantee you that in 20 years you will look back and wish you had behaved differently. God, I hope I was never as foolish as this!

The first night that they were showing the Rev. Wright video’s, they were time-stamped Dec.25th 2007.that would be christmas day . where do you suppose the Obama’s attended Church service that day?

Interesting question. Any of you trolls want to take this one?

If you don’t agree with Bud’s conclusions, you have some options:

1) Do your own research and show an alternate theory

2) Read Bud’s post and formulate your own ideas

3) Disagree with Bud’s conclusions and post your thoughts as to why you do

4) Browse to a different website

This is not Obamaland; people here are allowed to think and post their thoughts for the consideration of other intelligent individuals. We do not subscribe to group-think here. We do not all immediately accept every word posted as gospel. And we often cite a variety of sources to support our views, even if we do not accept everything that individual may have ever written as being the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I understand that an uncensored site goes against everything you have learned in Obamaland. Welcome to the free web. If you don’t care for it here, exercise option 4 above, please.

“Do your own research?” Bud is simply wrong that Carmichael is the primary source for Michelle’s thesis. There’s no evidence for it. Bud hasn’t done “research”; he saw a name (Carmichael) and ran with it.

Yes, it is ONLY about winning for most folks here. If it werent things would be quite different. We ceertainly would not see stooping to such vile things as race baiting and name calling. Ad Hominem is the HALLMARK of a weak or nonexistent argument, and there is plenty of it here.

Show me ONE single intelligen observation ragarding the differences in the candidates suggested policies.

Since it’s very obvious nothing of the sort will happen here….

How about a good FACTUAL demonstration of either Obama or his Wife doing ANYTHING suggesting they are racist. Not them knowing, having talked to, having listend to, having even been friends with someone who may or may not be, or even is. No rumor, suspicion, attack, or just plain lying. If any of you here said you know no one who is the least bit racist, you’d be a liar. Does that make you a racist?

No, lets see ONE single bit of incontrovertible proof that Mrs. Obama is a racist.

Dear Digusteddalso,

For someone who has an inkling of what constitutes an ad hominem argument, it is amusingly pathetic that you are so cavalier in using them yourself. For example, you claim that most of the people who post on this blog are not driven by authentic moral concerns and that they are ONLY concerned with winning. You make this assertion without providing evidence about these immoral posters. Then, hypocritically, because you provide no evidence that most of the posters at this blog are immorally ONLY concerned with winning, you demand that they provide evidence about their claims.

You ask us to provide you evidence of one difference between the policies of the two candidates. I’ll give you two, though it’s not difficult to find more. One, Hillary Clinton’s health care plan demands full user payment, something Obama is on tape as supporting, though he now says he never supported the idea and he no longer does. Two, Hillary Clinton supports public financing, whereas Barack Obama pledged in writing to support public financing, though he now rejects the idea.

You should apologize for your ad hominem commentary about our inability to provide you with examples of policy differences because you were implying that we did not have the intellectual chops to back up our claims.

Finally, and even though I have no problem whatsoever with enclaves of mutual support for marginalized people, reverse racism is a species of racism by definition. Both BO and MO are self-described supporters of the TUCC’s “black” and “African-positive” mission. For the most part, I find their mission admirable, as it is a form of reverse racism that can and does bring positive results to the marginalized. Notwithstanding, it is a form of racism.

You have now been provided with another source of evidence that you claimed we could not provide. Accordingly, and following your j’accuse, we are not full of hot air or wasting everyone’s time.

I find your tendency to generalize from the particular to be particularly offensive because of the pseudo-high-minded, intellectually arrogant posturing you adopt. In this reagrd, you are like your master. He also likes to claim he is taking the high road, just before he says something like, “…and I also won’t be like my opponents: I am going to tell you the truth.”

Unless you upgrade your training in informal logic, please do not bother us proles (my use of argumentum ad populum) again.

Yours,
Steven

There’s one thing the above article left out —

NATION OF ISLAM OPERATIVES ASSASSINATED MALCOLM X BECAUSE HE STARTED TO BELIEVE IN PEACE COULD BE ACHIEVED BETWEEN ALL RACES.

But before I get to that —

– let me say up front this “whitey” woman has been deeply interested in learning about the African American experience since my days as an English Literature major in college.

Falling in love the writing style of Richard Wright, it started me on a learning curve of AA history. I also took courses in the linguistics of “Black English” because I had planned to teach at HS level when I graduated.

In my “Black Literature” and “Black English” courses (those were the course names in the 70s), I was often the only “whitey” in the class. Add to that, I grew up in NYC, traveled AA inner-city neighborhoods daily on my way to college, and also did my field work for my education courses in the poorest neighborhoods of the Bronx three days a week.

I’m one of those people who could truthfully say “Some of my best friends are Black.” But unlike latte liberals I never say it — because in my opinion it’s an insult to African Americans.

EVERYONE OF EVERY RACE WOULD BENEFIT IN LEARNING ABOUT THE LIFE OF MALCOLM X.

It’s the story of a man on a journey to discover self and his journey took him through dark nights of the soul, Black militarism, second-in-command at NOI, leaving NOI, and finally bringing him to a place of inner peace and balance after traveling to Mecca.

When he returned his philosophy had changed and he began to preach on human rights for all people of all races, not just Black Americans. During this time, tensions between Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam increased, and he received several death threats. The three men who killed him, NOI members Talmadge Hayer, Norman 3X Butler, and Thomas 15X Johnson, were convicted of first degree murder.

There are a lot of theories as to why NOI ordered the murder of Malcolm — jealousy of his influence on the AA community and/or revenge for his criticism of Elijah Muhammad. Added to the fact that Malcolm had broken away from the NOI fold and, being a charismatic leader and speaker, he could influence others to leave.

But I have a different opinion related to all I’ve learned about the AA experience. (Of course as a “whitey” my opinion is most probably dismissible.)

I think that “leaders” like Rev, Wright and NOI need to perpetrate AA anger, generation after generation, to assure their own existence and profits.

Rev. Wright and Farrakhan live very well thanks to the proliferation of AA anger.

If all African-Americans, all people of all races and religions, come to the same conclusions Malcolm X came to at the end of his life, it would put people like Rev. Wright and NOI out of business.

Whoa, I think I’ve wandered into a KKK ralley (backs out slowly).

But seriously… Why is it that white folks believe that blacks are racists when they embrace their own communities and want to devote their time, money, and talent to uplifting less fortunate blacks?

That is not a rejection of whites, but merely a sense of loyalty and obligation to one’s own ethnic group. Other groups do it all the time without critique (Irish, Jews, Italians, etc). Somehow when blacks feel that way about their own communities, white folks get all offended like you’re somehow rejecting them.

What the hell are you afraid of? Can’t you see you all are working yourselves up into a racist, hatefilled frenzy? And don’t say that it is because of Barack Obama because you know damn well there’s something deeper within you that has drawn out this vitriol and venom.

A lot of you have black friends and co-workers that you connect with everyday. Somehow all of a sudden, you’ve assumed this secret racist trait that is creeping into your soul and taking over your existence. I think most of you are better than this. Consider getting off the internet before you no longer recognize yourselves. This Larry guy is the Grand Dragon in disguise. He is recruiting a nation of hatemongers to fulfill his quest for disharmony in America. Probably feels like he’s gotten a raw deal somewhere along the way and needs others to fuel his mission. Don’t buy into his drama.

Comment by ulahane | 2008-06-20 14:27:53

You fundamentally misunderstand this site. It is always laudable to help your own community, regardless of ethnicity. However, it is always wrong to support racist hate-mongers like Farrakhan, Cone, Meeks, Pfleger, Moss, and Wright.

No one here thinks all Blacks are racist; at least two of the better posters/commenters here are African-American. As there are very few truly racist Whites (KKK, Southern Leadership Council, etc.) there are very few truly racist Blacks (TUCC, Nation of Islam, etc.). Unfortunately, Sen. Obama has close ties to those very few.

“Other groups do it all the time without critique (Irish, Jews, Italians, etc)” Um, can you find one church in America with a “non-negotiable commitment to Ireland” or a pledge to uphold the “Italian value system?”

Most Black churches do not promote the ethnocentricism that TUCC does. The problem is that the Obamas chose one of the few that does. They have continually associated with the race-hatred of the TUCC community.

You seem to be falling into the Obamabot redefinition of “racist” as meaning “not supporting Obama”

If you take Mr.Diamond’s article and combine it with yours, a picture of keeping the poverty and class/racial tensions alive to advance the BLT becomes clear These buggers have do not have the poor in mind as witnessed by the Rev’s gated community “housing project”.

The article suggests that Wright converted from Islam to Christianity. Is that not a capital offence under Islamic law?

Comment by Vince P | 2008-06-20 18:01:46

Erasmus:

If a Muslim leaves Islam as an adult and does not return , then under the laws of the Islamic State , it is justifiable for any Muslim to kill him.

When Muslims are living in Non-Muslim lands, they are to respect the law of the land. (This doesn’t mean the apostate isn’t subject to harassment and general unpleasantness)

The rules regarding apostasy in children vary a little bit. Most Muslims would not regard it as apostasy if a child was born to Muslim parents, and then there was a divorce or something , and the parent with custody decided not to continue the child’s involvement with Islam. They state the choice to go away from Islam was not the child’s and thus he does not warrant punishment for something he was not responsible for.

Anyone who wants to understand Trinity absolutely MUST read through “Black Theology and Black Power”
by James H. Cone – this is the basis of the belief system of the church (as cited on the church’s website).

Look the book up on Amazon, and search for “white” in the contents, you will get such gems as:

…complete emancipation of black people from white oppression by whatever means black people deem necessary

…structure of white society attempts to make “black being” into “nonbeing”

…when the black man rebels at the risk of death, he forces white society to look at him

…there is no place in America where the black man can go for escape

…hatred of whites and group identification are natural reactions

…all white men are responsible for white oppression

…they looted, they got Whitey

…the motive behind the Black Aesthetic is the destruction of the white thing, the destruction of white ideas, and white ways of looking at the world

…(liberation theology) is a revolutionary theology. It is a theology which confronts white society as the racist Antichrist

Keep up the good fight, No Quarter

Look, I have no trouble at all believing that Michelle Obama is a closet racist with a major chip on her shoulder about being black and that she buys into “Black Liberation Theology” hook, line & sinker. The only questions are whether or not somebody actually caught her on videotape and whether the GOP has managed to get a copy of it. For the sake of our country, let’s hope the answer to both questions is “yes.” Otherwise, “The Great Deceiver” just might be able to pull this off.

“You asked for Observations:”

Yes I did. Regarding the differences in the candidates political positions. You however immediately attempt to portray the Obama’s as racists which has nothing to do with the candidates positions, and is a perfect example of why I asked for such an observation. Because the issue here is not about the best candidate, or who’s position is better, or most likely to benefit the nation should they win. The focus here is on slander and attack. As you so nicely demonstrate Susan. Thank you. What would have been optimal, is a ref to an existing post which show me was really all about, but it’s ok, your response is even better.

“For someone who has an inkling of what constitutes an ad hominem argument, it is amusingly pathetic that you are so cavalier in using them yourself.”

Really. I’m glad you find it amusing, despite your apparently being unaware just exactly what ad hominem attack is.

“For example, you claim that most of the people who post on this blog are not driven by authentic moral concerns and that they are ONLY concerned with winning.

You make this assertion without providing evidence about these immoral posters.”

Yes, I certainly did make that generalisation. Which is quite reasonable and logical as all that is neccessary to make the reason for this generalisation clear is a perusal of the many fine examples spread throught the threads here.

In addition, had the intent of my post been to examine and disseminate the attitude the responses comprising these threads represent, I would have wasted my time and yours doing just that, and citing one post after another.

Which would have been quite pointless anyways, since they are already present and clear.

For example, (which should help you out since you apparently need details pointed out for you) the post leading to this thread attempts to protray Mrs. Obama as a racist, despite the videotape never having arisen, by making faulty leaps in reasoning as I mentioned earlier and in no way supporting it’s insinuations of racism. The article did little more, than continue the same rhetoric as videotape claims, without providing proof of anything.

Lets just forget, albeit conveneiently for you who claims to be concerned with truth and honesty, that the whole reason this trainwreck is here is because of a bogus videotape rumor in the first place.

Now, despite this, numerous posts arrive lauding this bit of broken logic as great work and throwing willy nilly one ad hominem attack after another at anyone pointing out the silliness of it all.

All this, when nothing of any substance has been provided. When nothing but rumor and attack has been created. Where is the critical consideration of the post leading to this farce eh? It’s so glaringly obvious as to be comical. He failed to provide anything to support the videotape rumor, so along comes this, “She wrote a paper in college, and cited and ref’d these guys, so she must believe, think and act just like them!” silliness. And those here swallowed it, without qualm.

And you ask ME where’s MY examples and proof? You do realize just how hilarious that is dont you?

Now, after all this, what do you think the reasoning is behind support of this ridiculous rumor mongering? Is it conviction built upon evidence? Obviously not, since the evidence is not in , ahem, evidence.

Or is it knee jerk emotional response, devoid of reasoned opinion, based upon an innate desire to have ones own position validated, by something such as Obamas failure to achieve vistory?

I’d bet the house on the latter. It’s in the same class as the “Obama’s a closet Muslim, Obama’s wants to socialize the U.S., Obama hates whitey” crap that too many seem to think are legitemite concerns and not the asinine ravings of those who would achive victory at the cost of integrity which it is.

“Then, hypocritically, because you provide no evidence that most of the posters at this blog are immorally ONLY concerned with winning, you demand that they provide evidence about their claims.”

Actually, I asked the evidence of Mrs. Obama’s racism be provided which is in fact not at all hypocritcal since I was not engaging in ad hominem argument but commenting on the obvious rumor mongering going on here and the complete lack of critical consideration. What I in fact did, was ak for proof of these claims, that were made well before my arrival. Proof which I might add, is sorely lacking.

Again, I have to note, you really dont understand Ad Hominem do you?

“You ask us to provide you evidence of one difference between the policies of the two candidates.”

Excellent, an actual suggestion of substance, and not “Mr.s O’s a racist I knew it” crap.

“I’ll give you two, though it’s not difficult to find more. One, Hillary Clinton’s health care plan demands full user payment, something Obama is on tape as supporting, though he now says he never supported the idea and he no longer does. Two, Hillary Clinton supports public financing, whereas Barack Obama pledged in writing to support public financing, though he now rejects the idea.”

You didn’t get any of it did you? Since you dont understand what ad hominem is, I should be leery of asking if you understand what “rhetorical” is. The point was, that those are the sort of things such concerned folks as yourselves should be arguing about, examining, discussing. Instead it’s about whether or not the Obama’s hate Whitey. At least you have SOME idea of what the issues between Hillary and Obama were I guess, though you apparently choose to gloss over the entire context of the disagreements between the two on those subjects, or Obamas actual stance in the first place. But good for you anyhow, though the entire point sailed over your head.

“You should apologize for your ad hominem commentary about our inability to provide you with examples of policy differences because you were implying that we did not have the intellectual chops to back up our claims.”

Thats utterly hilarious, and I thank you for the laugh. Sure, I’ll apologize. Soon as every person here who jumped on the “Mrs. Obama hates Whitey” bandwagon for no reason other than pettiness and failed reasoning apologize. Though what I’m supposed to apologize for isnt exactly clear.

I was not attacking your failure to provide examples of policy differences. Thats YOUR assertion, which leads you into yet another logical fallacy known as “straw man”.

I was attacking your propensity to embrace and propagate vile rumor and viscous slander despite the complete lack of evidence. All totally justified and valid.

Also, I did not imply you did not have the intellectual honesty to back up your claims. I said OUTRIGHT that no one here has any evidence to support the claims that Mrs. Obama is a racist. I also noted that it was decietful and dishonest to support such garbage without proof. And I am right.

So please, by all means, explain just what it is I am supposed to apologize for. Asking that should you call someone racist, you provide some damn good proof of this?

“Finally, and even though I have no problem whatsoever with enclaves of mutual support for marginalized people, reverse racism is a species of racism by definition.”

Actually, there’s reallly no such thing as “reverse racism”. Just as there’s no such thing as “reverse discrimination”. They both are just exactly what they are. A black can be a racist, or a bigot, just a white can be.

“You have now been provided with another source of evidence that you claimed we could not provide. Accordingly, and following your j’accuse, we are not full of hot air or wasting everyone’s time.”

No I have not. You are trying VERY hard to avoid the direct question, the ONLY question. Where is the proof Mrs. Obama is a racist? YOu have not provided anything of the sort, and the twisted attempt at “reverse racism” just isnt going to cut it at all.

“I find your tendency to generalize from the particular to be particularly offensive because of the pseudo-high-minded, intellectually arrogant posturing you adopt.”

Thank you.

“In this reagrd, you are like your master. He also likes to claim he is taking the high road, just before he says something like, “…and I also won’t be like my opponents: I am going to tell you the truth.””

Thank you again, very much. Interesting though. Note your use of “Your master”. That could easily be seen as a perjorative phrase connotating a reference to slavery in an attempt to depict myself as being slave to a master who oh so long agao would have been the slave himself. It could lead a person to wonder just why you would choose such a phrase, then perhaps think that maybe you yourself have some unspoken racial tensions building with the possibility of a half black man attaining the highest office in America.

“Unless you upgrade your training in informal logic, please do not bother us proles (my use of argumentum ad populum) again.

If you search all of my posts you will discover that I have not engaged in the rumour mongering and slander to which you refer. In fact, you are guilty of slandering me.

3) That you claim something does not make it so. You said,

Actually, there’s reallly no such thing as “reverse racism”. Just as there’s no such thing as “reverse discrimination”. They both are just exactly what they are. A black can be a racist, or a bigot, just a white can be.

That some theorists currently reject the notion of reverse racism does not mean the concept does not exist. You can find it under ‘reverse discrimination’ in wikipedia, for example. I like the distinction so I use it. They do not so they do not. It does not change the fact that the Obama’s pledged themselves to a “black” and “African” affirmative church, which, because it furthers that positivity, is making a distinction based on race, which means it is a racist distinction. Accordingly, it counts as evidence.

4) Disappointingly, you pull the race card due to my use of the term master. Once again, you are cavalier with your use of an ad hominem attack. If you were good enough to apply your critiques to your own work, it might be worth sharing a conversation.

Steve, are TRYING to be obtuse?

Again, the asking for two examples was basically rhetorical, in order to point out the emphasis here on asinine ravings about the fraudulent “whitey” garbage and not anything of any valid substance.

But you either dont get that, or refuse to. Great, you provided two examples, I’m filled with joy for you. Would have helped if there had been an actual discussion here involving them.

So providing them proves what? That this thread is all about the issues and valid concerns, and not the irrational bashing of a political candidate for emotional reasons? Ignore the point, provide examples all you want. It wont change the content or intent of this blog one bit lol.

But wait Steve, you get even more off base.

For instance, here is a bit of your above post.

Steve, your argument is weak, and without merit. This blog is nothing more than a vile propaganda piece, with a few faithful all too happy to embrace any nastiness published on its pages. A simple reading of the posts demonstrates this. There’s little more than insinuation, innuendo, lies, and slander published here, and no amount of denial can change that.

“That some theorists currently reject the notion of reverse racism does not mean the concept does not exist. You can find it under ‘reverse discrimination’ in wikipedia, for example. I like the distinction so I use it.”

You use it because you like it?
Do you hear yourself?

In California vs Bakke, a state supreme court ruled that discrimination was not dependant upon or defined by race, but the unfair practices against anyone because of their race. Meaning, Discrimination is discrimination and has nothing to do with the race of those practicing it.

It’s ANOTHER logical fallacy you insist on using Steve. The truth of the matter is that you cant reverse discriminate. But you like the term so it’s ok? Sure, thats one way to maintain denial.

Why don’t you just be honest, and say what you think? Or are you afraid to, because then your facade would fail? Lets accuse the Jews for banding together, and the Latinos, and the Japanese, and any other minority that has it’s own organisations dedicated to their own causes. By golly they’re racists!!!! lol

” Disappointingly, you pull the race card due to my use of the term master. Once again, you are cavalier with your use of an ad hominem attack. If you were good enough to apply your critiques to your own work, it might be worth sharing a conversation.”

Derhuh? YOU called Obama my “master” not me. I didn’t play a race card at all. I pointed out that your innuendo didn’t go by unnoticed. In fact, the entire problem here is this blog and it’s posters complete willingness to use race any way it can to denigrate the Obama’s. And you accuse ME of playing the race card? Thats high hilarity indeed.

So please, explain why the use of the term then, if it’s so innocent. And yet again, there is no apparent comprehension of “ad hominem” from you.

Trust me, replying to you is hardly a conversation. It’s more akin to grading a high school paper and balancing time against the effort of addressing and correcting every mistake.

Hey, I got one for you. The Bush family has long ties to the Saudi’s!! They must be Muslims!!!

What you are doing is exactly the same as what Wright has done in his church. Allowing your credulity to lead you by the nose.

Obama is the pres and will complete his term in office. He needs all the help he can get because he has a tough job. His wife is helping, not hurting him. He may have been born in Kenya but no body can prove it. He is the pres. Get over it.
