Lesson for the Day: Pumas Can Sneak Up on You

PUMA

The DNC, Barack Obama, and his followers just don’t seem to get it. There are a lot of very upset people, and they are not about to fall into line all that easily. P.U.M.A. (“Party Unity My Ass”) is just one of scores of emerging groups that want far more satisfaction than a few nice after-the-fact words about their candidate and her campaign. And to those who claim her supporters are poor losers don’t get it either.

This angry resistance may go go in different directions when it comes to who, if anyone, they say they will support in November, but their passionate outrage is united when it comes to number of very serious issues.

Virtually all are concerned about the sexism (imagine strong-arming a candidate who got 18 million votes and more pledged delegates in the larger and swing states being complained about by old, grey, male candidates of yesteryear who went to the convention with far fewer delegates in their pockets), the undemocratic and flawed caucus system that suffered from numerous reported incidents of fraud, the Michigan and Florida slap in voters’ faces, the disrespect heaped on Hillary Clinton from so many within the party as well as the DNC, and the malevolent treatment of many of her followers by mean-spirited Obama supporters.

Will the DNC pay attention in time to create at least a partial reversal of its lost party members? If Democrats remains split and the votes are not there for Obama come this fall, it will not be because of Hillary Clinton—it will be because the DNC failed to learn critical lessons about how it goes about doing its business and how it views and treats many millions of Democratic voters.

Mark the unity creator,
instead of just throwing out insults, why don’t you try having a debate. make your case witihout being lazy and arrogant. one of the very reasons i never trusted the obama campaign was the way that he seems to inspire his “believers”. even when they’ve won, they continue to behave like this. it was never about unity. it’s about bullying and winning at any cost.

I am truly disgusted that you have put a person with such little experience and with no qualifications to lead this country. And, he didn’t even win! If Sen. Clinton and Sen. Comment by Sam Copeland | 2008-06-21 23:02:18

Delusional!? Here are some recent polls that attempted to identify the % of PUMA voters. For comparison, it is typical for about 8% of voters to switch parties and vote for the candidate from the opposing party.

June 4 CBS poll:

Nearly a quarter of Clinton supporters say they will back McCain instead of Obama in the general election.

June CNN poll:

In strong Clinton states such as Kentucky and West Virginia, about two-thirds of her voters said they would vote for Mr. McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, or stay home in November if Mr. Obama won the nomination, CNN polls showed.

June 17 ABC/Washington Post poll:

Among Democrats who supported Hillary Clinton for president, about one in four, 24 percent, prefer McCain over Obama, and 13 percent pick someone else or say they wouldn’t vote. Those are essentially unchanged from an ABC/Post poll last month, before Clinton suspended her campaign and offered Obama a fulsome endorsement.

June 15 Review Journal poll in Nevada:

With 15 percent of Democrats saying they’ll vote for McCain and another 14 percent undecided, that’s 29 percent of his own party not currently supporting Obama, a high number that Duffy said might be the residual effect of Clinton’s candidacy.

Of more concern for Obama is the fact that these percentages are the same as those in polls taken in the heat of the primary contest. In other words, Obama is not picking up support from PUMA voters, despite the spin placed in the pro-Obama media and blogs.

If you were an astute political observer Mark, you would realize this and urge your candidate to start mending fences instead of picking at the wounds. Then again, if you were an astute political observer, you wouldn’t be backing your candidate in the first place.

Comment by C.S. | 2008-06-21 23:28:14

Delusional – a persistent false psychotic belief regarding the self or persons or objects outside of self; something that is falsely believed or propagated.

Yup, fits Obama of the Great Seal and his blindly obedient followers perfectly. They were so obsessed with making derogatory comments that they didn’t even realize that P.U.M.A. was made up of Democrats and Independents and Republican voters and the only thing that unites them is their refusal to vote for Barack Obama.

Obama people really need to get a life of their own and quit living vicariously through a guy that wants to become OUR public servant.

So what is it that you do want? Working within the (admittedly bizarre) rules for selecting a nominee, Barack Obama won more delegates, more votes, and more states. This was a very close election, but are you asking for him to concede? Perhaps to propose a co-presidency? What’s left to do?

the caucus, votes, delegates “metrics” that you guys so love to trot out has been argued endlessly. obama gamed the system. some of it was inbounds and some of it was not. the dnc behaved like republicans for obama regarding michigan and florida. and “he won more states” is an absolutely idiotic point to make so you lose credibility by including that meaningless measurement.
and honestly, what’s left to do? obama has gone so far beyond the point of no return that there is nothing left to do. he is as nasty a man as george bush and he is extremely unqualified and unfit for the office. so yeah, he should concede. that’s the only way i’d begin to have any respect for him.

Comment by Ellen | 2008-06-21 21:23:07

You are under the impression that it is merely Obama. Obama is the symptom; Dean and Brazile are the disease. At this point, to fix the Democratic Party, Dean and Brazile must leave the leadership. They finagled the system so that now 18 million of us cannot trust it. Sadly, it seems the only way to remove them, is for us to have McCain in office.

In the long run, the USA will be much better off having two parties rather than having the Democratic Party being a left leaning imitation of the Republican Party. As it stands right now, the Democratic Party has rejected it’s working class roots. It has become, like the Republicans, a party for the rich and elite.

Therefore, unless Dean and Brazile leave the leadership, I see no alternative but to work for an Obama loss. I would rather loose the White House for 4 years, then loose the party forever.

Comment by Sandy | 2008-06-21 18:54:45

He did not win more votes. Hillary did, and to ignore, well half way ignore millions from Florida and Michigan, plus there was illegal activity at the caucus voting stations. He is not qualified to lead this country. He maybe high on the level of coruptness, but that’s not the skill the people of America are looking for.

Comment by alee21 | 2008-06-21 19:01:05

Obama played the race card against the Clintons and his army of cult followers fixed the caucuses.
So I beg to differ, Obama, the affirmative action candidate, did not win fair and square. Hillary’s hands were tied, every time she criticizes Obama she is labeled a racist.

I just wish that Obama, the uber liberals, the AAs and the impressionable young would take over a state like Montana and crown Obama the Emperor (without clothes) and leave the rest of us to our business.

Some Findings:

* 35.6 million people have voted
* The 37 primary states account for 97% of the vote.
* The 13 caucus states account for 3% of the vote.

Bottom line: Clinton’s lead is from 34.5 million voters (97%) in Primaries. Obama’s lead is from 1.1 million voters (3%) in caucuses.

Get a fucking clue, would you? NEITHER candidate won enough Pledged delegates to win the nomination. BO is NOT the nominee…just in case you missed THAT fact too.

Concede to Hillary and accept her offer of VP. Instant party unity and applause from all sides, on to victory!

That gives Obama FOUR TERMS in the White House: two as VP, then two as POTUS.

The first two terms he can do what he likes best: fly around the world giving speeches with a teleprompter, no pesky debates nor any real work. If he wants to be Mayor Daley who just inspires people to come to agreement, that fits right in with VP.

He could save face by saying it has occurred to him that the Dems could get 16 years in the White House if Hillary takes her terms first. (If he takes his first, she would be too old later.)

Party Unity Under Hillary!

Comment by Akron | 2008-06-23 07:46:13

he won more pledged delegates – and that is it. And… he won those from a disproportional system that outweighs caucus votes. He did not win more votes and he only has the supers because they have been strong armed and threatened….

He won by winning 11 straight states in February. HRC won 500,000 more votes than him – and she won them in the electoral college states that count after March 1.

What I want is for the SD’s to realize they are voting for the weak candidate – to realize he was a flash in the pan. They are NOT going to do that because the whole thing has been rigged by Howard Dean … which means we have two corrupt parties and our democracy is a shambles.

I don’t think they believe we will stay away. They could not be more wrong on that point.

Here is a piece of email back and forth I received from Democrats.com. They originally wrote asking for folks to call their reps and oppose telecom immunity, you know, the bill Obama voted in favor for. I wrote back to them stating I won’t be making more calls. Here’s the back and forth of that:

On Fri, Jun 20, 2008 at 5:22 PM, eileen wrote:
Sorry, no more help from me. The party lost me on May 31, 2008, when the RBC ruled to take away delegates from the candidate that won the popular vote, giving her delegates and ALL ‘uncommitted’ to their selected candidate.

Good luck Dems. No more GOTV work from me, no more phone calls to senators, no more letter writing to newspapers.

But from what I understand from ‘the movement,’ you no longer need me anyway.

Eileen

They responded with:

Thanks for writing, Eileen, and I do understand your discouragement. Please let me know if you wish to be unsubscribed, otherwise, I’ll leave you on the list so you can skim for legislation, positions and ideas. Best, ~Chip :) @ Democrats.com

Being told to “get over it” after being called a racist, a bigot, an idiot, un-deomcratic, un-american, uneducated and did I mention being called a racist by the thugs over the past year left me with a VERY bad taste in my mouth.

I live in a caucus state and was a HRC delegate to the county and our state convention. Sit on several local party committees and such and if I do say so myself am a damn good fundraiser. When I was at the local office I mentioned to one of the messiahbots that I haven’t heard a single thing from BHO but have gotten phone calls and emails from JM they were shocked!LOL!

“Well why would they call you?” they asked. My response was “for my VOTE AND MONEY idiot”. The arrogance if astounding. The look that I would stop the gravy train (which I did after the rules committee decision to the local and the state and DNC and the convention 45 miles away)

It’s my money and my vote and I’ll do what I want with both!

I firmly believe that:

1-They don’t care about our votes
2-They think we are expendable
3-They think we are deep down sheep like they are and will fall in line
4-They think we don’t have the guts to vote to keep him out of office
5-They are DELUSIONAL!

I’m an educated man and if I can’t have HRC then I’ll be damned if I vote for BHO!

It’s ok to be pissed. Thats why I’m voting for McCain. He’s honest, even if we don’t like some of his views, at least he is a straight shooter and it will stop b.o.

* McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as “an agent of intolerance” in 2002, but has since decided to cozy up to the man who said Americans “deserved” the 9/11 attacks. (Indeed, McCain has now hired Falwell’s debate coach.)

* McCain used to oppose Bush’s tax cuts for the very wealthy, but he reversed course in February.

* In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending “dirty money” to help finance Bush’s presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.

* McCain supported a major campaign-finance reform measure that bore his name. In June, he abandoned his own legislation.

* McCain used to think that Grover Norquist was a crook and a corrupt shill for dictators. Then McCain got serious about running for president and began to reconcile with Norquist.

* McCain took a firm line in opposition to torture, and then caved to White House demands.

* McCain gave up on his signature policy issue, campaign-finance reform, and won’t back the same provision he sponsored just a couple of years ago.

* McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.

* McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he’s pro-ethanol.

* McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.

* And now he’s both for and against overturning Roe v. Wade.

Obama was against and is now “for” NAFTA.

Obama was for school vouchers in 2002. In 2003 he was against vouchers but for charter schools. In 2007 he was against vouchers AND charter schools. Now he’s willing to consider charter schools.

Obama doesn’t have a universal health care plan. In fact, many non-partisan analysts beieve that his approach to health care will actually lead to an increase in insurance premiums.

Obama supports the continued use of contractors like Blackwater in US war zones.

Obama said that he would withdraw troops from Iraq in 16 months, then his campaign acknowledged that this was only a sort of “best case scenario”.

Obama vowed to accept public campaign financing, then changed his mind.

Oh, and Roe v. Wade is a nonstarter. Pro-choice is the dominant position among Americans, regardless of Party affiliation.

This blog isn’t long enough to list the inabilities of BO, nor is it long enough to list his racist friends, his criminal friends, his inexperience, his racist beliefs, his inability to speak from his heart, he needs a teleprompter. If one is speaking from the heart, it isn’t with a prepared speech, it is with an honest and heartfelt delivery, BO is incapable of this.
How many more times will you allow this man to flip flop on issues that are extremely important to the American people and our safety and security?
How many more excuses are you willing to make for this man? If you need to make excuses for his behavior, you might not be supporting a man with your moral standards.
BO in no way represents me or my views. He certainly does not represent my views morally, I don’t believe he is a moral man.
BO is willing to say and do anything to be president, Hillary was not, that is why Hillary is where she is, not releasing her delegates to BO because she knows he is not experienced enough to run this country.
With Hillary there is no question about her morality, her friendships or her beliefs. What you see with Hillary is what you get. She was unwilling to compromise herself or her supporters, that is why the DNC is pushing BO on us, they can control him, they cant control Hillary.
Hillary is a woman who has fought hard for every American, regardless of color or creed. Hillary sees people, she sees need, she doesnt decide to help because of the color of your skin, its because of need. Hillary can see a need and do something about it, she wont have to ask the DNC permission to run her own presidency, unlike BO.
BO has sold out, he sold himself out and he sold his supporters out. I hope I never know how that feels, and with Hillary I never will.
I feel sorry for you BO supporters, each day to have to justify something new that BO has done or said, or failed to say. If you are doing that, you are backing the wrong candidate. Ask yourself, would I have to make these kinds of excuses for Hillary’s behavior, for Hillary’s friendships, for Hillary’s religious beliefs? The answer is no.
Hillary Clinton is far and away the best candidate the democrats have had in quite sometime. Her character is not in question, never has been, we Hillary supporters have never had to make one excuse for her behavior, she is a true leader and a woman of grace and dignity.
The DNC has a true winner with Hillary, yet they told us that we will accept BO and like it. I don’t like it, and I never will accept a man without the qualifications to be president.
Simple as that, BO was not qualified to be president before the DNC pushed Hillary out, and he is not qualified now. We are not sheep, we will not follow, Hillary has to do what she has to do for the sake of the party. She is a woman of true character. Hillary knows that we will not follow, but she must do what she promised she would do.
18 million people understand that, we understand that she is not abandoning us, she is keeping her word.
Hillary will have her vote in Denver, and she will emerge like the Phoenix, RISE HILLARY RISE!

Clinton Supporter All The Way!!! Will vote John McCain!

The Women who have supported Hillary in THIS campaign need to abandon the DNC in DROVES! Just like the DNC abandoned them.

Women have been doing what they’ve always done in life, in politics, for a long time…supporting. The DNC made a bet this time around, that if they did what was the RIGHT thing to do….which was go with the most electable candidate, Hillary….they would alienate the black voters for Obama. They have gambled that the fallout from throwing Women under the bus will be less. Afterall, when was the last time you saw bands of women riot in the streets, breaking windows, or pulling people out of passing cars?

WOMEN need to hold the DNC accountable for playing them in a political gamble. And they need to do that by voting for the DNC’s opposition. Women have to make this gamble ACTUALLY COST THEM SOMETHING.

Women have been ASKING the DNC to respect them…..They MUST DEMAND it. The Power to make that happen is in THEIR VOTE.

No DNC Ho No Mo!! There is no going back for me.

If the “angry resistance” continues to “go in different directions when it comes to whom, if anyone, they say they will support in November” we’ll all be hailing President Obama in January 2009.

The election was expected to be close, but McCain will now be outspent Hillary-style and, let’s face it, McCain just doesn’t show well.

To make any real difference in the election, Hillary supporters HAVE TO VOTE IN A BLOC.

Staying home, writing in Hillary, voting for the Libertarian or Green Party candidate or any other option is a vote for Barack Obama.

John McCain is the only option that has a chance of beating Obama.

I deplore McCain’s politics on many fronts – women’s issues, the war, his Bush inspired economics, and practically everything he stands for.

BUT –

Given the option of facing eight years of Barack Obama, I’ll take my chances on an old, lame-duck, hamstrung President while Hillary builds her base for 2012.

McCain is a safe bet.

He will face a strong Democratic Majority in both the House and Senate. He cannot get conservatives confirmed for judge positions (neither federal nor Supreme Court) unless the Democratic Majority lets him with a two-thirds majority approval.

He will not be able to continue Bush’s war without getting the funding approved by Congress (Remember that Democratic Majority?).

Anything done by Executive Order can be undone instantly by the new President in 2012.

No one in Congress or anywhere in the government will be motivated to appease McCain. He will only be there four years and have little power. Ergo, no influence, no usefulness in political terms.

HOLD YOUR NOSE – USE YOUR HEAD – VOTE FOR DEADLOCK – VOTE FOR JOHN McCAIN – IN SOLIDARITY!!!

Comment by LindaA1 | 2008-06-21 19:04:56

Unless Hillary comes back…then screw him.

Comment by Sandy | 2008-06-21 19:07:22

John McCain is an honest man. He may not say what you like to hear at times, but you know where he is coming from. NO FAKE OBAMA LIES. McCain is an honest person. And even though some of his views may not be the same, he is good, he will do a good job and he is most of all HONEST!!!

I did my first doantion to McCain. I am going to vote for him to stop Obama and he is clearly the 2nd best choice. Any other vote is a vote for Obama, and that is horrible to everything. TAXES, LIES, CORUPTNESS………

McCain for sure.

Comment by LindaA1 | 2008-06-21 19:19:24

I agree.

As politicians go, McCain can be trusted to live up to his word and his heart seems to be in a good place.

Otherwise, I would have to do more than hold my nose if Hillary doesn’t come back and I have to vote Republican.

McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.

McCain took a firm line in opposition to torture, and then caved to White House demands.

Yeah, all the way to hell.

That’s a Democratic talking point (my estanged party BTW).

I think there are many differences between Bush and McCain, but it doesn’t matter to me.

I’m not going to vote for McCain because I like his polices. I’ll vote for him, if necessary, because he’ll be a do-nothing, deadlocked president.

Deadlock is better than a Chicago thug in the Whitehouse and a Democratic Majority Congress on Obama-steroids.

God help us if that comes to pass.

I just got a fundraiser letter for a Virginia Democrat running for governor next year. Good guy, but I’m never contributing to the Dems on any level while the current crew runs the Democratic Party.

We need to go to a multiple party system. We can be like the Italians and have lots of parties and coalitions, for all I care. The idea that two parties can encompass most belief systems is silly anyway — always has been.

Comment by Zee | 2008-06-22 00:31:22

Is it Mark Warner???

We have to make exceptions for excellent downticket candidates!!

The one thousand and seven “third” parties is NOT going to happen.

I, for one, am going to do all I can to help Ed O’Reilly beat John Kerry in the Dem primary here in MA.

The idea is not to shun one “pipe dream of hope” for another. You’re not going to be changing the two party system by carping about it online. All change is bottom up not top down…something the Naderites didn’t get. Especially since he just went on to screw the Green Party. This is how the neocons took over the repuglican party and how Obama’s always gamed the system.

They started at the school board and community level.

Meanwhile we need both short term and long term plans. We have to fight smart. Yes, we have to be republicans for a day and vote for McCain…and yes, switching to Independent or Unenrolled sends a message to the DNC, but that should not be employed everywhere! There are states where to remain a Downticket Dem is vitally important to send a message, also, and make sure to replace bad Dems with better ones.

I would much rather see a number of parties than what we have now. The system is fixed to favor the Rs and Ds, and I do not think that serves citizens the best. I think the present system really limits our choices. As you say, 2 parties cannot encompass the diversity of the country.

Great cartoon Pat, another one hits the point well.

There’s still HOPE for CHANGE as the nomination of our candidate has yet to take place. That will happen in Denver in late August.

Everything Ob does comes from the Arrogant Playbook.
He is being exposed daily.

Don’t give up HOPE. Dean and Ob have done what the Repubs have tried to do, they have divided our party.
But the party can come together after Ob is totally exposed prior to the convention.

They go next to the “Hillary for President” stickers.

But what I’d like to do is place 2012 under the Hillary sticker (AFTER THE CONVENTION, in case the miracle does not happen and army of mordor continues on its way) and 2008 under the McCain sticker.
You see i am planning to have these stickers on the cars for a long time.

I guess I can get some number stickers from the craft store, but it would be nice if one could buy them from the same people who made the nice Democrats for McCain stickers.

You sure can see the trend lines.

In the NV poll, 15% of Democrats are voting McCain and another 14% are either not voting or voting for someone else. That is 29% of democrats not voting for Obama.

As a point of comparison, this number is generally around 8% in past elections (percentage of members of one party voting for the opposing party).

And this is Rasmussen! This poll tended to be very inaccurate in the primary and tended to over-inflate Obama’s support.

The polls to pay attention to are Gallup and SUSA.

Barack Obama can’t turn off his own hate machine.

He belatedly issued a statement saying that he understood what Hillary meant to say. So did RFK Jr. So did Skinner of DU, albeit in a rather smarmy fashion. All responsible political writers understand that Hillary was not issuing any kind of “death threat.”

But — and I cannot stress this enough — many Obama followers are mentally ill.

I mean that literally, and I will never take it back. (Note that I said “followers,” not “supporters”: We are dealing with a cult.) From a purely tactical point of view, they should be mending fences with Hillary’s voters. But they refuse to do so. They would prefer to see half the Democratic Party leave — even if that mass exodus means the end of Obama’s chances in November.

And please forgive if you’ve read this message I’ve been posting everywhere —
Please, if you can break away for a few minutes, please make out a check to “Hillary Clinton for President” and send it to her, designating it for “payment of the campaign debt.” There is a deadline approaching (I believe it’s at the close of the convention but please check it out) and after that deadline passes, it will not be possible to contribute to paying her debt. Please give up a cup of coffee, or a pack of butts, or a cocktail or magazine, ice cream cone or that extra dog at the ball game and send a check to help Hillary. She spend long months traveling from coast to coast and north to south and spoke out on sunny days and in the rain. She listened to us. And she brought out the vote in a truly astonishing way — and she held her head high even when the insults kept coming. Thanks for listening.

B.O.is about change, …. change friends, change church, change relatives (uncle) change views, change flag, change Presidential Seal, ….. I’m getting a cramp in my stomach at the thought of it all. Do you know how many people have fought for the symbols in our flag, in our Presidential seal? How many people have lost their lives for our freedom? And now b.o. wants an “o” for a flag and a new Presdential seal with his “o” on it. I’m sick!!!!! He is an ego maniac!!

So what I want to say is a long time freind personally put out a hit on my character that was wrong and hurtful. Why did he do this? Becuase I don’t support Obama. I will not reward the abuser. I’m one woman that will not go back to the abuser DNC. My life starts a new with a vote for John McCain.

F.O. Obamites!

Comment by Chris | 2008-06-21 20:31:44

Yes, they think we will forget and forgive and go back to the abuser. (DNC abused our loyalty) BUT NO, NOT THIS TIME. We have the internet to connect, we will stand strong and we will stand together. TOGETHER we will NOT GO BACK. We have support in each other and we are more powerful than ever. We will not let the DNC pic our President. They way too often pic a looser. What about Florida and Michigan. I don’t live there and if I did, I would REALLY be mad

I never ever want to see the DNC get rewared for what they have done to my party and my vote!

Most practical people I know and respect don’t necessarily dislike Obama — but they are intelligent to see thru the veneer the Axelrod created….

The longer Obama’s brilliantly executed marketing campaign continues (since that’s all it ever was) — the bolder and louder PUMAs will roar — in the media, in the blogosphere, at the watercooler… until our presence is not only undeniable, but far in excess of MOVEON.ORG’s 3million+ members….

Here’s a secret Mark….our real goal: 5Million PUMAs — do ya think we can snag 1/3 of those 18 Million??

It may be all a big joke, like the Primary. My cousin told me not to bother and that it is all fake, and that votes don’t mean a thing. That the U.S. is a farce when it comes to voting. I had a big conversation with him and begged him to vote. WELL……….as we know it … he was right.
I’m so sad about that. I really was dumb. Now I do wonder about the voting the next time around. I think we may all be childlike when it comes to trust. We trust in the system, but the system is fake.
My friend said she blew the wistle on the one system and said it was fixed. She was fired and then it was revealed through the news that it was. It was too late, the President was picked and she was out of a job. It could be that the U.S. is a complete fake when it comes to voting.

It’s so sad and frustrating. We are suppose to be an example to the world and so far, we are a JOKE. I get them emailed to me from other countries. Believe me, they see this as a joke, many jokes come out of it.
We don’t pic our President. When will this corupt system be fixed?

THat is who Obama is.

Comment by lightacandle | 2008-06-21 21:45:55

I think this campaign has been a disgrace, and I actively resent that the Democratic Party leaders remained SILENT when one after another of the media people savaged Hillary Clinton and one after another of the Obama team insulted Hillary Clinton and President Clinton.

NO, I will NOT be voting for Barack Obama, the least qualified Democrat to run for the presidency since James Buchanan.

All pleas to unite with Obama and forgive his vile supporters fall on deaf ears with me.

When Randi Rhodes (a big-time Obama devotee) called Hillary a “fu__ing bitch,” she called all women “fu__ing bitches,” except, of course, herself and anyone worshiping Barack Obama.

The silence from the Obama campaign was deafening. NO one in the Obama campaign said such an attitude did not represent the thinking of Barack Obama or that he wished people wouldn’t speak and act like that, at least not on his behalf.

But Obama was silent.

Since Obama and his “lovely” wife stayed in their church for 20 years listening to — but never objecting to — Rev. Wright’s sermons of hate toward white people, I begin to think that if my possible president and his wife hate white people, they hate me.

I don’t want a president and First Lady who hate me for the color of my skin.

And, I haven’t appreciated being told by Obama’s supporters that any criticism of Obama comes out of my “racism.”

Was I a “racist” for criticizing and disliking George W. Bush for what he did to this country?

Was I a “racist” for criticizing and disliking Ronald Reagan for what he did to this country?

So, how come ANY and ALL criticism of Obama, suddenly, in America, is proof of “racism” and the criticizer is “likely” a “member of the KKK”?

No, thank you, I do NOT want any part of the race-baiting Obama campaign. Obama injected race into this campaign because it was the only way he could win.

The Obama campaign used race as a CUDGEL with which to beat anyone who dared to mention that Obama had NO experience or knowledge of foreign affairs and NO experience or knowledge of economic issues, and that his campaign was filled with CORPORATE LOBBYISTS just licking their lips for their Main Chance once Obama is installed in the White House.

This campaign has been a travesty and has divided Democrats in ways that may not be healed for a very long time.

I will not enable, encourage or excuse the behavior of the Obama crowd during this campaign; I do not like thugs, and I don’t like people who like thugs.

No, I will NOT be voting for Barack Obama.

PAT, Can you do a cartoon regarding Obama’s new campaign seal? Especially in light of the following Federal law on the Presidential seal:

Title 18 Part I Chapter 33 §713
§713. Use of likeness of the great seal of the United States, the seals of the President and Vice President, the seal of the United States Senate, the seal of the United States House of Representative, and the seal of the United States Congress

(b) Whoever, except as authorized under regulations promulgated by the President and published in the Federal Register, knowingly manufactures, reproduces, sells, or purchases for resale, either separately or appended to any article manufactured or sold, any likeness of the seals of the President or Vice President, or any substantial part thereof, except for manufacture or sale of the article for the official use of the Government of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

Love the cartoon and commentary. Obamanites haven’t a clue about the size and power of the determined opposition. Never give up and never give in! The PUMA is poised to pounce! The DNC and the Obamanites are cowering because they know they have treated Hillary and her supporters with great disrespect. They underestimate the loyalty and unity and determination of the millions of people who voted for her and the anger of those whose votes were disregarded by the silly rules of the DNC which have created a major split within the Demo party.
Pat, you deserve much credit for your pithy cartoons and insights so well expressed in your commentary. The Obamanites are masters of self deception as they fail to look at the real Obama, the waffler, who reminds me of a chameleon that can change its skin tones to blend in with its environment. Whatever is expedient will be the new position for the day. He is the candidate of change. Yes, change of mind and direction encased in flowery rhetoric to hynotize his supporters and enrage the opposition. Beware of the PUMA!

Comment by Rich | 2008-06-21 22:29:16

Another great cartoon that in simple terms says what is wrong with the Democratic Party. They do not understand the people that are part of the party. They seem to think that they are Republicans with just a different title. That the people, especially women, will just do as their leaders, religious or otherwise, tell them to do. Many in the republican leadership roles, religious and political, believe that the women should let men be the leaders and that women should submit to the desire of their men for the good of the family and the party. That if a job decision comes down to a man or women, the man should have priority, even if he is not as qualified. This is also probably why women earn less then men, even if they are doing a better job then their male counterparts. The Democratic Party is broken and continues to do business as usual, while Obama talks about change. Talk about what is broken and out of touch with the people.

Comment by Vince P | 2008-06-21 23:01:42

If reasonable conservatives recognize the Trojan Horse from unknown origin that is Obama and were open to it, I think the most amazing thing for this election would be for McCain and hillary run on a ticket.

That puts Hillary in the number 2 job, but that might not be a bad thing since pretty much everyone has in the back of their mind the thought of McCain’s um.. actuary table.

Then for Obama it could truly be said that he was a Uniter. He united bitter foes to come together to defeat a threat aimed at the power center of our nation by his campaign.

Comment by NeverObama | 2008-06-22 01:04:13

I was hoping for thr same thing! Better if she ran Independent! BUT if NObama takes hagel, then she should be FREE to go with McCain!
Then we could have block parties to reimburse her for HER loans to her campaign.
Either way would be a landslide!!!

“Will the DNC pay attention in time to create at least a partial reversal of its lost party members?”

They cannot unring the bell. It doesn’t matter what they say/do now, because it will all be motivated by self-interest. The manipulation and abuse during the primary season that resulted in a distorted process produced an illegitimate nominee. The RBC meeting was a farce that violated the very foundation of the party and our democracy. We are supposed to just accept that and move on? That cannot be fixed by anything other than a new nominee. That is the only reconciliation that I am interested in, and somehow, I do not think that is what Coward Dean has in mind.

Comment by NOBAMA | 2008-06-21 23:24:10

Obamatoids are delusional if they think BO’s polls are going to stay slightly ahead of McCain’s.

Do they really think the GOP is going to give that corrupt, lying, loser the kid gloves care that Hillary and the media did.

They have DVDs of him and his big-mouth wife, they have his record of absent votes, flip-flops, lobbyist money, and no accomplishments.

They have his half-brother proving he was born and raised Muslim. They will find his REAL birth certificate, he’s probably not even eligible to be prez.

They will ask what kind of parent subjects their children to years of racist and un-American hate. And, why did it take him 20 years to figure it out.

They will dig up the Chicago money-laundering and Rezko deals. The Auchi deals. The PLO deals. They will remind voters of his Hamas and Black Panthers endorsements, and ties to other extremists.

They will connect Sinclair’s phone numbers to BO.

They may even bring up how he “won” caucus delegates with his thugs and their threats, force, fraud, and theft. And, how he conspired with the DNC to rob Hillary of her FL & MI delegates. Without that robbery Hillary won the legitimate delegate count AND the People’s Votes. As Pelosi said “the will of the People”.

They will re-introduce Ayers, the terrorist who likes to bomb U.S. sites and stomp on the American flag when he’s not helping BO with his campaign.

They will prove to the voters what a no-good, useless, corrupt, two-faced liar he is.

Check the polls a few weeks after the convention, after they’re sure they don’t have to go up against Hillary.

“Sore losers”, “deadenders”. Let me tell you what,

neither

Obama nor Clinton had enough pledged delegates to clinch the nomination. And instead of letting it play out until the convention (the historical and usual way of doing things), the Democratic Party fell over themselves to shove Hillary out. The AP assisted them by proclaiming Obama the nominee, before the polls closed in the last 2 primaries. Obama had “clinched” it. It was one dirty trick after the other. It was no better (in fact worse) than how the Repulican Party made sure that Bush would be the nominee in 2000.

Obama creating his own Presidential Seal shows just how arrogant and narcissistic he is.

As far as I am concerned he now has desecrated the Presidential Seal and I sent emails to the DNC letting them know my opinion. I think everybody should write and complain.

How dare he do this? And I think they should be able to arrest him for it since it is agianst the law. Why does he get away with all this crap?

Cheating at caucuses, deals with Rezko. Where is the accountability when he does something?

Comment by Melody | 2008-06-27 23:24:05

In the Nevada Caucus in January, the Unions not only endorsed BO, but they took pictures of every single person standing for Hillary throughout the state. Hillary won by a very small margin – people were crossing over to BO when the pictures started being taken. For the Convention, Hillary couldn’t get enough delegates to attend the State Convention.

My comment:

A Donation for Obama………..
…………….from my cold dead hands.

The DNC has left both I and millions of other Democratic voters hanging like a “CHAD”.
I have to agree with Donna Brazile, that if the “Will of the people” is overturned by Delegates, I will consider leaving the party.

Would I vote for Obama? “I’ll have to think about it”.………NOT………………from my cold dead hands………..…….Not only am clinging to my guns and religion, but also reservre my right to choose whomever I believe to be the best, most qualified, candidate for this 2008 Presidential Race.

I will most likely “Vote Qualifications vs. Party”.

I will vote based on a candidates experience and qualifications. I would never hire someone of lesser qualities. Hillary fulfills all credentials required to fill the most important job in the world.
I will follow Hillary to the convention, but in November, I will vote anyone but BHO. He is all talk and his achievements are limited.

Hillary will do what she has to do; I understand that. But the Democratic Party is failing because of its smoke and mirror campaign tactics and fuzzy math.

WHY HAVE ELECTIONS…………………….when WE GOT THE DNC
The Democratic Party has driven us to McCain or a NO VOTE.
Those who just assume that we will jump on Obama’s soul train fueled by inspiration and false hopes are only making us more determined to NOT vote for Obama. Never Assume!

Epilogue:
It is interesting how whoever is the first poster sets the theme for an entire thread. Mark may be a paid Obama blogger (I guess there are 400 of them), but if the campaign was smart they would fire him. This is not the way to attract any supporters who are dissatisfied with what had gone down. And the “make nice” ones muyst also realize that they may not get the expected pleasant response either. Trust has been broken, and that takes a lot of time AND action to overcome.

Having said that, I really enjoyed the comments and all but a few should send a strong message to the DNC and the Obama campaign. Thanks all.

‘When I use a word… it means just what I CHOOSE it to mean, neither more nor less.’ (Humpty Dumpty)

Thus, in “Obama-speak,”

1. A commitment to public campaign financing is not binding when feeding the pig is more important than keeping one’s word. After all, this is the same guy who received a $60,000 contribution from George Soros for his Senate race, thanks to a loophole Soros found in the rules.

2. Surely, Obama didn’t really mean small-town, working class Americans cling to their religion and guns because they’re bitter. The problem must have been our failure to comprehend the nuances of his soaring rhetoric (hence, “What I should have said was…”).

3. So, if we thought we understood the meaning of “without preconditions,” apparently we didn’t. In Obama-speak, there’s a world of difference between “preconditions” and “preparation”.

4. And remember “I can no more disown him [Rev. Wright] than my own white grandmother?” Well, as it turns out, YES HE CAN!

5. So what if this barely-one-term senator has one of the worst records (20%) of missed votes (compared with Clinton’s 8% since Jan. of 2001). So what if he missed the 76-22 vote in Sept. of ‘07 designating the Iranian National Guards Corps a terrorist organization; after all, he did publish a strong objection to the decision on his Senate web page immediately thereafter…. Uh, wait, he’s recently begun to backpedal on that position, too.

6. Should it matter that in a 2004 interview he opposed Israel’s security fence, which since its contruction, has more than proven its efficacy? When did we last hear of a suicide bomber blowing himself up on a bus, in a Jerusalem coffee shop, pizzeria or a Tel-Aviv night club? Uh, he didn’t mean that statement, either.

And when, two weeks ago, he told AIPAC members that Jerusalem will remain the undevided capital of Israel, we must have heard wrong, because that’s not what he was saying last week.

So, given his “enormous emotional attachment and sympathy for Israel” (at least those were his words in a recent interview with The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg), why should supporters of the U.S.-Israel alliance worry that several of his foreign policy advisers are known chiefly for their anti-Israel and/or anti-Semitic views – e.g. Carter cohorts Anthony Lake and Zbigniew Bzrezinski (along with his son, Mark), Ivo Daalder and (formerly) Robert Malley. And, lest we forget the wrath incurred by John Kerry’s 2004 proposal to appoint Carter and James Baker as negotiators in the Middle East peace talks – which he subsequently blamed on his foreign policy advisers – that idea was actually the brainchild of Susan Rice…. That’s right, the same Susan Rice who’s now heading Obama’s foreign policy team. Oops.

7. And, since Obama seems to think that McCain’s pro-life position should be reason enough for pro-choice women to vote for him, ask yourself whether “pro-choice” should mean partial-birth abortions up to and including the third trimester. That’s where he stands – uh, stood – on this issue. Who knows?

Indeed, this lengthy entry confirms that Obama has a record – a record which should erase any doubt that he is “the candidate of CHANGE”. Who can deny his uncanny ability to change his mind, his positions and his commitments on a dime? And, if “words matter,” why should his WORD matter when something greater is at stake?

Therefore, if the RBC meeting on May 31st was not enough to persuade Democrats that our elected officials are thoroughly out of step with – or oblivious to – the will and welfare of their voters, their collective opposition to offshore drilling should. Personally, I’m fed up; I’ve finally printed out a voter registration form and am switching to Independent.

When you go to the polls in November – PLEASE DO! – keep two things in mind: first, a vote for McCain is the only real vote AGAINST Obama, and second, even if you have to hold your nose, a one-term McCain presidency can’t possibly be worse than two of Obama.

PUMAs are fighting mad. Fortunately the media is now starting to question Obama the way they should have from the beginning. It took his reversal on a number of salient issues for that to come about though. PUMAPAC members are determined to teach the DNC a lesson.; namely, stop assuming we will support whatever you sandction. You, the DNC, are expected to fulfill our wishes, not us fulfill yours. You ignore us at your peril; the Democrats may go the way of the Whigs.

Michelle Obama is now off limits Really!
Earlier this year when she was on the campaign
trailshe said this about Hillary. “If you can’t take
care of your own house, how can you take care of
the White House”.

She had better be careful she might have to eat
those words some time in August:)

>>>OBAMA IS A POST TURTLE. WHAT’S A POST TURTLE?
Subj: FW: Post Turtle
While suturing a cut on the hand of a Texas Rancher whose hand had been caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually, the topic got around to Obama and his bid for the presidency.
The old rancher said, Well, ya know, Obama is a ‘post turtle’.
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked, ‘What is a post turtle’?
The old rancher said, When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a ‘post turtle’.
The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain.

‘You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he sure as heck doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there and you just wonder what kind of an idiot put him there in the first place.’

I see on the “Just see no deal” site a million blogs which are for the PUMA folks like me. However it seems like this is splintering the effort to organize the PUMA crowd. We need one common place on the web all PUMA supporters can aggregate our efforts to take effective action which can ensure Obama’s defeat. Is there such a place and Im missing it? Or the separate blogs is all that we have?

Your not missing it, everyone is trying to do the same thing … get Hillary elected. A new site is just starting for just the purpose you ask … go to http://www.hillaryclintonsupportteam.com The purpose is one point, one site for all, regardless of what other Hillary site you belong to. No one believes there are millions … this site wants to collect the names to show that this is not a game, along with doing several other things. I’m sure a few good suggestions will help.

Anyone can email me if they have questions… edkha@hot.rr.com
