Obama’s Florida Strategy: PLAY THE RACE CARD

According to a poll Rasmussen released today, McCain will beat Obama in Florida by at least a margin of eight points. I quote:

The Florida survey also found that McCain currently leads Obama in the state by a 47% to 39% margin. Six percent (6%) said they would vote for some other candidate while 8% are undecided.

However, after voters were told that McCain favored offshore drilling and Obama opposed it, McCain’s lead increased to eleven points, 49% to 38%. While a three-point net gain is not stunning, it is significant that the issue didn’t push voters towards Obama. All of McCain’s gains on the offshore drilling issue came from male voters.

How does Obama respond to the results of this poll? He drops the race card, of course. I quote Barack Obama, who according to Mark Halperin uttered the following at a fundraising event this evening in Jacksonville, Florida:

“The choice is clear. Most of all we can choose between hope and fear. It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy. We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run. They’re going to try to make you afraid. They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?

["]He’s got a feisty wife.

Even better, however, is Obama’s decision to project everything he disavows about himself and his campaign onto his Republican opponents. He continued,

“We know the strategy because they’ve already shown their cards. Ultimately I think the American people recognize that old stuff hasn’t moved us forward. That old stuff just divides us.

Let us summarize the Obama campaign strategy: when one is poised to lose, drop the race card, but be sure to claim your opponents are the ones who are divisive, even if you are the one who disenfranchised the voters to whom you are appealing for funds. Always eschew any and all discussions on policy, and always refer to your opponents as racist and xenophobic. This is Obama’s version of unity, and this is Obama’s notion of waging a different type of political campaign. Welcome to Obamatopia, where the deck is always stacked with strategically placed race cards to be played with impunity.

Who is Obama today — the victim or the perpetrator? He reminds me of a Mother in Law. If you can’t get people to love you pretend you are having a heart attack.

Hilarious! Best comment I’ve read in a while :)

Now, now. Can’t we criticize Obama without adding to the abounding toxic sexism? And yes, I can take a joke, but I can’t leave this “Mother in Law” (not “some”, not “passive-aggressive types”) statement uncommented.

Comment by splashy | 2008-06-21 14:26:59

I agree. The only mother-in-law I had was much better to me than my own mother. I don’t get any of the mother-in-law comments.

Let’s leave the sexism out.

Gotta wonder, how would Ann Dunham respond to accusations of her son’s racist behavior?

Too funny! That mother in law quote.

Funny too was his lackluster tiny crowd of people welcoming him to Jax. There appeared to be more of our public dollars there in the persons of black suits (SS) than there were members of the public.

I guess Obama never read the book (written by a Smart AA) Stupid Black Men: How to Play the Race Card–and Lose (Hardcover)
by Larry Elder (Author)

Quote from Larry Elder: “Blaming racism is not just false, it is toxic”. It keeps races wary of each other. Watch what I say. Watch for an innocent remark that might be construed as “racist,” or “racially insensitive.” Unfounded charges of racism cause us to emphasize differences, rather than our broad and deep similarities”. - Larry Elder

It’s too late. His surrogates have already used the race card on TV so much that people roll their eyes when they are watching. They are setting up their OWN Bradley Effect, the dumb shits.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-21 09:18:01

Absolutely true. The dreaded white backlash is already mounting.

BO, use the race card at your own peril…

He’s already gone through about 4 decks of cards.

My family/friends/coworkers in Chicago can’t stand to hear the R-Word anymore.

It actually makes our bodies tense up because we’re so annoyed hearing it. Thrown around carelessly,… like someone else has said.. the meaning of the word has been wrung out, there is no more left.

We’ve figured out the guy is a Marxist , hardcore.

For the sake of our men and women in the military, he must be defeated.

I can think of nothing more dishonorable that America can do to its military then to elect that fraud.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-21 09:07:55

Larry can’t stand Obama at all. He, too, gets death threats a lot, and he says calling him “Uncle Tom” is standard fare for Obamabots.

He also did this great show one day on the Huffington Post and what Hillary supporters were experiencing there. I was amazed! It was so fun!

This season has given him plenty of fodder for his show. :)

He’s conservative…..but a fun one.

Comment by Madam DeFarge | 2008-06-21 09:20:02

I think all the people who have been threatened by obama should get together, gve yourselves a name, sign a petition, asking him to chill, put it in a national publication, and make yourselves collectively available for TV interviews.

I wish there were a T shirt available for those of us who have experienced Obama intimidation on the web.

Not just the web..how about while driving down Melrose Ave in LA? I have a Hillary sticker on my car and was cut off and forced into a dangerous situation by a large black man in a BMW who screamed ‘racist white bitch’ ‘haha’ out his window at me. Sounds like fun..eh?

Comment by Give Me Hill | 2008-06-21 10:28:38

I too, still have a Hillary sticker on my car. I have experienced similar tactics from other drivers, and even people on the street yelling out to me to call me or Hillary names. One of my own colleagues told me that she was going to ram her truck into the back of my car because of the “offensive” sticker on it. (Hillary for President) Some teenage punk even yelled out “vote for Obama” in my parking lot. I stopped my car, got out, and in front of all his friends and family, I told him unless he was old enough to vote, don’t tell me how to. I go through this stuff ALL the time living near Chicago. Bullying won’t change my mind.

BO, use the race card at your own peril…

He’s using it as his advantage at the nation’s expense. What a guy. What a leader. How irresponsible. If the country burst into flames over this, it will still be working for President Obama. If anyone thinks his use of the race deck is odious now, wait until he is still running this campaign as president.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-21 09:34:18

It’s not just him. It’s the entire gang. Everytime Pelosi or Boxer or any of them say, “Yes, we think Hillary and Obama both suffered from sexism and racism,” they are simply echoing the Obama campaign meme that he was harmed by Bill and Hillary’s race-baiting.

It really angers me that they are going along with that, because it was so absurd.

They are supporting an untenable position on this.

Their words of support to Bill and Hillary now fall on deaf ears. The result? Booing.

Why? Because they reinforced the idea that Bill and Hillary were racists for over a year.

I have no use for the lot of them.

Comment by Vince P | 2008-06-21 09:45:46

The way I see it, Obama is totally the type of person who can be a puppet for whatever patron puppetmaster owns him.

The Clintons are obviously independent of the folks in Washington and cannot be controlled.

I’m not a conspiracy type person but perhaps sockpuppettry is what some small group is looking.

Comment by Diana | 2008-06-21 06:34:13

I agree 110%. That word lost all meaning when they used it against Bill and Hillary. Two people we know for a fact are not racists. African American’s know it in their hearts too. When they chose to use it against members of their own party.

Comment by Mary | 2008-06-21 10:50:16

Interestingly, polls are showing that it is the AA’s who have the highest percentage of voters who want Obama to choose Hillary as his VP choice. Congressional Black Caucus, by a majority, supports that, too.

Perhaps they KNOW the race card was played unfairly, and without Hillary on the ticket, their “savior” can’t win.

If he keeps playing the race card, the backlash in November will be HUGE.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-21 10:56:14

That’s been obvious even from SC on. The exit polls consistently showed that Obama voters in heavy AA states would be happy to vote Dem if she won.

That told me that they were exaggerating the level of “hurt” regarding comments made by Bill and Hillary. I would not suggest that there were not some authentic feelings of dismay, but the level reported was inflated.

It just made sense to me that they were not rejecting Hillary so much as just proud to vote for a viable AA candidate.

But……whatever…

The Black Caucus in Washington were ruthless. They squeezed every vote they could for him by reinforcing the racecard.

Won the battle. Lost the war, I believe.

I am confident that people are going to pull that curtain and say “No” to Obama in the GE.

He’s simply been too divisive. That’s not good for the country.

They just think HRC voters will follow her blindly. All they want is her voters, they are all about color. Some are so all about the perception of Barky being a black that they are willing to ignore the fact that he is probably not legaly black at all, but Arab. Lets call this the Stockholm Syndrome.

Or is it reflected black “Glory” or is it because he has promised them retribution? Whatever it is, it is all about using HRC voters, pure and simple usery.

The Republicans do not need to make people afraid of him because he is black - he and Michelle have already done that. Everyone I have talked to about this, including some women swing voters who recently told me that they had been determined to vote for a Democrat, is freaked out by Obama and his Afrocentric, anti-white church. One woman is a minister, pretty liberal, who said she actually attended a service there and found it very uncomfortable because of the implied anti-white, black superiority messages. Nothing inflammatory like in the videos, but it was there. (This was a few years ago.) She said many of the other ministers who were there with her reacted the same way.

I have always believe that Americans will corrected the wrongs, and they will this time. Race card might have worked against the Clintons, but not this time.

The media has lot to answer for all this nonsence.

My family will not be voting for Sen. Obama.

Comment by BernieO | 2008-06-21 07:08:15

The only reason it will probably not work this time is that the Republicans will not let the charges stand like the Democrats did. I still hear Dems on TV repeating the lie that it was the Clintons who played the race card in SC. I am hoping the Republicans call Obama on this. If people are made aware of what he is doing they may begin to realize that it was Obama, not Clinton who was guilty of inserting race into the campaign.
We all need to keep fighting to make the Clintons’ legacy clear to the public. They have shown us the way to govern our country successfully, yet the party has thrown away this gift. The only thing they have to point to is FDR. Meanwhile the Reagan worshipping goes on unabated, even though his policies led us into debt, increased income disparity, and reversed our path to energy independence - that is, put us in the crisis we now face. Dems should be saying “We tried Reagan’s way twice - in the 80’s and again in the last 8 years - and it failed both times. In contrast, Clinton showed us we could have prosperity, move people out of poverty at record levels while balancing the budget at the same time.” Instead Dem leaders have supported someone who threw that legacy away in favor of some pie-in-the-shy hope and change rhetoric. It boggles the mind.

Comment by Vince P | 2008-06-21 07:29:23

Bernie: Republicans are expecting to be called “racist” at every utterance they make.

They are afraid that that tactic will be successful in harming their image and that the Press will gleefully assist Obama in making sure every Republican who says a word is branded a racist forever.

Why can’t it occur to this guy, (the post-racial, hope, change, blah blah), that it just could be that us deadenders and other bitter ignorants just don’t want a beginner running the country? A guy who doesn’t seem to know where he stands day to day, and has taken spin to new heights (and chutzpa with that presidential seal rip-off)…..maybe voters might not trust him too much?

Indeed, she conceded a race she lost back in March.

“If one candidate is trying to scare you, and the other one is trying to make you think, if one candidate’s appealing to your fears, and the other one’s appealing to your hopes. You better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope.

Comment by wcwf50 | 2008-06-21 02:28:50

I agree with that. Obviously BO had a good number of supporters who are not black throughout the primary season. Although there will be a core of them who will play along with the race card (similar to the 30ish percent of people who approve of Bush), I think others will tire of it.

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-06-21 07:15:01

It will definitely backfire on him—especially in southern states, and it makes me sick to think that this idiot is going to set race relations in the south back 50 years.
I live in a red state that’s going to stay red in November, regardless, and the white people I know are going to be very p*ssed off at being called racists for not voting for Obama. They’re not voting against him because he’s black. They’re voting against him, because he’s a left wing liberal. These same white people would’ve gladly voted for Colin Powell if he had chosen to run. In fact, my brother-in-law (who spent 13 months in Iraq) said the other night that he had hoped Colin Powell would be the first black president. On the other hand, he’s scared of what Obama will do not only in Iraq but throughout the Middle East.

Comment by PamFlorida | 2008-06-21 02:32:26

I’m not convinced the race card will play in FL. The populace is very multi-cultural and multi-racial. There are significant populations from 25+ countries and over 50 languages are spoken in the state.
The majority of people still have bad feelings from the 2000 election and the manipulation of this year’s primary(and empathy for MI.) has stirred up those memories. Top that off with a large Jewish population who distrust Obama’s vague policy on Israel and you have questionable support for him electorally.
Jacksonville is close to Georgia and has more AA voters. The panhandle and central parts of the state are more Republican/conservative and the south is Cuban, Portugese, and Carribean. I think it’s very iffy for Obama in the GE.

Comment by Joe Smith | 2008-06-21 02:42:27

I knew that this guy will not be able to raise the amounts of money that he was raising before. I have suspisioun that his campaign was funded by the Republicans.

He raised 21.6 million in May. But he spend 26.5 million and this was before he started his nation wide campaign which must cost millions.

He has already spend 252 million of the 277 million he took in.

The DNC has 4 million on had. While the RNC has 53 million.

This gives McCain an over 50 million advantage.

They can’t even manage their campaign money how will they manage the budget for the country.

An other reason not to vote for BOBO.

Has he lost his mind. STOP THE RACE-BAITING, NOW!! It’s already bad enough in the black community. Most of us are already seeing racism in the most benign things because of this campaign. The last thing our community needs is an empty suit promising to be our black messiah race-baiting.

This guy is setting back race and gender relations for generations. I hope he’s proud of himself.

On a side note…seems like he is keenly aware of the weakness that is Michelle.

Comment by Fred C. Dobbs | 2008-06-21 08:26:15

>>> …seems like he is keenly aware of the weakness that is Michelle.

Good observation. Plus, he has heard her in unguarded moments in the wigwam and knows what she might say if provoked.

So, let’s provoke her.

It’s like boxing. If you open a cut above your opponent’s eye, you don’t go, “Poor baby. I won’t hit THAT place again. It just wouldn’t be FAIR!”

You hit the place where the blood comes from until the pain or the distraction of blood running into his eye wears him out, weakens him, or so obstructs his vision that you can put him away.

REMEMBER: A gracious Loser is STILL just a Loser.

Comment by Teakwood | 2008-06-21 13:03:54

So, let’s provoke her

Over the last month? The Axeman has been prepping the “ground for Michelle to be called on “the tape”. There has been substantial pre-damage control for MO’s “whitey world”…

Obama saying this shit is disgusting as he can’t say the Republicans will “attack” him on the issues. He keeps changing the position.

Back to MO’s “whitey world”…With all the pre-damage control, BO will play will say “you see I told you, they are racist and they are making you afraid”…all the while neglecting to mention who said what.

Republican response to this is simple enough.. “we are not the one’s who said this, go ask MO”.

TruthTeller; what is going to be really bizarre is when MSM “bleeps” out the dirty word “whitey”….

This BS is exactly what Rev Wrighty spews on the pews. Being this predictable is sad.

Comment by hootnannie | 2008-06-21 02:50:27

The race card will only work with guilty liberals, and these folks are already Obamaniacs. Flash the card in the face of others, and BO will get nothing but backlash. Most Americans are sick of victimhood and the plantation mentality. If Obama is the official nominee, he will lose in a landslide.

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-06-21 07:29:35

Exactly. He’s going to find that the majority of the white population doesn’t suffer from “white guilt”, and they’re sick of hearing about it. Someone who is struggling to support a family, make their house payments and keep enough gas in the car to get back and forth to work could care less about race in America.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-21 10:28:46

All he has is the race card, really. If he weren’t half black, he would be regarded as an inept white guy from Thug Chicago who has no business running for president. So he used white guilt and the race card to get this far. As for his race baiting, he has set race AND gender relations back 30 years already and the voters will not be able to WAIT to get his ass out of their lives on November 4.

Comment by Christy | 2008-06-21 02:56:47

Feisty — is that a new word for RACIST?

Because we KNOW Mrs. Obama is a racist. So is Mr. Obama —

Obama is really a white guy wearing a black mask — that’s why he keeps yelling racist — in a crowded theater.

The sooner people wake up and start ignoring this low life inadequate male — the better off the US will be.

Apparently Obama is demanding that Clinton give up her list of contributors — if that happens and if I get a call demanding money from one of the damned Obamabutts — that creep is going to learn some new words.

Hey snObama — we are NEVER going to get over the fact that you are an inadequate male and that you have lied and cheated your way to the “presumptive” Dem nominee. The Chicago way may work in Chicago — but in the real America we will tell you where you can stick your lying self on 4 November.

At least Obama is cognitive enough to recognize for himself that he’s young and inexperienced and that these are real downsides to voting for him. To then throw the race card down amongst his real negatives tells you what he thinks about himself.

I’m sick of hearing about it. I’ll have nothing to do with this man if he thinks for himself that being black is a negative. He should be far above this kind of thinking if he’s running to be the POTUS. If he’s not and he wins, we’re all in big trouble.

Actually, a whole lot of conservative Blacks, and Clinton-loving Dem Blacks, fear that Obama will set back race relations rather than improve them.

Around 32% of African Americans resented Wright’s sermons as NOT typical of Black churches.

But Obama knows they have nowhere else to go politically. Just like women. Just like “Appalachians.” And now, just like the liberal blogosphere who thought he’d stand against telecom immunity.

He threw them all under the bus, assuming they have nowhere else to go.

Obama plays the Race Card every chance he has. He played it in North Carolina, and has played it hard everywhere else, and then blamed the Clintons.

Check out Tim Russert catching Obama lie about playing the Race Card - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQY_9ZcsjpQ&feature=related%3cbr

It worked in the primaries, but it won’t work in the General Election.

Obama’s arrogance and presumptuousness is showing and it’s not pretty. He is so unconcerned about the common folk that he’s burning bridges without even realizing that he’s doing it. I would encourage him to continue in this vein because it’s surely going to lessen his chances in the GE. Voters have memories and he’s given us more than enough negative ones to quash his future as Pres.

The icing on the cake was his use of the seal of the President (fascimile). How rank can he get? Doesn’t he know that it’s a violation of federal law to use the pseudo seal? His campaign is filled with mindless nincompoops, starting with Axelrod, who is all about image (Deval Patrick) and knows nothing about substance.

When I was completing my bachelors in econ. I had to fulfill a “diversity core” within my major. My options were Political Economy of Black America or Women’s Political Economy. Guess which one I chose? A full semester of black repartation theory hiding as economics. I did learn a few things:

Terms like genetic racism. That’s right, white europeans are genetically predisposed to being racists! And on the other hand, blacks are incapable of racism.

Some reparation theorists toss amounts into the TRILLIONS! Never mind what that would do to the economy, the ulitmate in wealth redistribution.

White privelege exists no matter where in the economic strata you find yourself, from Ted Kennedy to a legless, alcoholic, homeless man. All white people enjoy this suppossed benefit, all will pay, according to the propeller heads.

Now, of course I argued against these insane theories. The funny thing was is that some of my fellow students who happened to be black, argued the same points, of course the professor would not be swayed (the arrogance of tenure). When the grades came out, and I checked with my black classmates, even though the test and project grades were nearly identical (within 1-3 points), whites were graded a full grade lower on average in “class participation”, but of course that’s not racism.

Went in with an open mind. Came out with some real strong opinions, mostly negative. I will always give the benefit of the doubt, but when it comes to the code words of reparation theory, afrocentrism, etc., I will never support it, and will automatically vote against those who are associated with it. Now that the DNC is infected with this virulent strain, I cannot support any democrat until our party is taken back. Gonna be a while.

There’s lots of acreage in Liberia and Sierra Leone available; lots of troopships tied up with no place to go.

All we need is to breed a LOT of mules. Marry them up with members of the Reparations-seeking crowd, send them on a jolly 15 day cruise to Freetown or Monrovia, hand ‘em each a Krugerrand and a big, “Rotsa Ruck!” and stand by with the firehoses to make sure they don’t come back UP the gangway.

Obama’s message is always the glass is less than half full and the old politics is to blame. Obama is very subtle. His message is truly negative. I think people resonate to him out of anger more than hope. Honestly to play te you fear me cause I am black is a sick sick way to try to get votes. Throughout history there have been false “messiahs” who rouse unhappy people through emotional speeches. People really need to see what Obama is doing and study his policies and decide if that is the direction they want the US to go. Forget the race card. It is old and pathetique. The man just about has the Democratic nomination and he is till calling his fellow Americans afraid of blacks. Give it up already.

I could not agree more. The 527’s could run the “Arrogance Factor” ad - replete with photos of Obama standing in front of the flag during the national anthem, looking bored and refusing to put his heart over his chest, or imitating a rap singer and dissing the former First Lady by “dusting” her off of his shoulder. Along with the photos and footage, the “Arrogance Factor” ad would include Obama’s ridiculous and revealing comments about us ignorant “bitter” voters, or how he’ll bring the “guns” out if others (the McCain campaign) bring out the “knives,” ending with snippets from his “acceptance” speech, in which he claims that the seas will stop rising and other absolutely over-the-top arrogant, egotistical statements - all because he’s running for PREZ. Yes, and the ad should end with a close-up of Obama’s new, personalized, fake presidential seal - what an absolute JOKE! There is so much fertile material here!

So all obamalamadingdongs done with his continuing race baiting and misogynyin from the Primaries is GUARUNTEE that folks like ME, who truely ABHORE anyone who would FALSELY play the race card to try to score political points will NEVER vote for him! I think CNN just helped elevate the race card to national level yesterday when Blitzer ran a long piece on the ‘they will try to frighten you…I am black’ line.

I don’t feel that the Obama campaign can successfully play the race card on Repubs in the same way it was done on Dems. In fact, I intuit that a lot of honest, hardworking, fair-minded people are going to really resent being told that anyone in America who does not vote for BO is racist. That certainly happened to a lot of people in the Dem Party (like me and everyone I know, Hillary supporter or not, including lots from Illinois, Oregon, and Fla), and how could it not happen to a lot of Repubs and Indies?

The high percentage of AA’s voting for Obama would never have voted for McCain anyway. The race baiting game will not work nearly as well with Republicans. If he’s looking for ‘white guilt’ voters, he may be surprised to find he’s overplayed the race card and has lost it’s effect.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-06-21 10:35:24

You are right, Uh, the republicans couldn’t care less about a voting block they aren’t going to get anyhow. But I know a few latinos who are sick and tired of hearing the race card as well. Their anger at the assumption that there are minorities and then there is THE MINORITY is doing nothing but fueling anger.

I believe there is hope for us yet, in terms of the Mainstream Media (MSM) “getting it”, if only one radio news and program outlet.

I just heard a Scott Simon commentary on NPR “Weekend Edition”, after the Daniel Shore segment. Admit I’ve avoided them on Saturdays because I thought NPR News and Dan were pretty much going along with the MSM, if not out-right in the tank for Obama. And yet, Scott Simon is from Chicago…he may have more insight than many journalists.

Both Scott and Dan talked about Obama’s “manipulation of image”, noting the two Muslim women in head scarves evicted from their positions behind BO’s podium who complained (the audacity!). Both noted how BO’s flip-flop on accepting public campaign financing (referred to as FISA in some stories) also hurts his image, and Dan recalled how positions like ambassadorships could be bought by big donors like Howard Hughes under Nixon in the Watergate era, and before campaign finance reform in the 1970’s. (It was a lot cheaper back then I believe, even adjusting for inflation.)

Later in his segment, Scott quoted BO’s audio-taped comments on CNN last night, noting how BO claims the Republicans would go after him, and BO characaturing Repub’s, saying, “by the way - did I mention he was black?” Scott thought it was unfair for Obama to say McCain would do that, since in essence (paraphrasing) he had not used the race card in this race.

Furthermore, Mr. Simon reminded people of the “whispers” McCain suffered (from the George W. Bush camp) in the 2000 campaign about his adopted daughter, i.e., McCain himself has a mixed race family. Gist I got: he didn’t think it was fair of Obama to go after McCain on this. After all, it was Obama’s own overheard words.

Sounds like Barack reveals himself best when he thinks the cameras aren’t rolling. What I heard last night sounded like words recorded through a Public Address (PA) system, or some gathering where he was amplified. Perhaps unbeknownst to BO himself: recorded also.

Overall, something that needed to be said, and high time they started scrutinizing what he’s said, and done. I’ve seen enough to know I don’t like how BO

That’s what I can remember, and you could check out their link: http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=7

Interested to hear what others think about this - is there hope people will get it? Obama’s been playing the race card all along, I believe. When Michele Obama said in her interview on “The View” that racism would continue through the campaign, I wanted to talk back to the TV and ask her: On which side? What kind?

Of all of the things I despise Obama for, this one (playing the race card) is at the top of my list. When he through his surrogates called Bill and Hillary Clinton racists, that assured that he would never get my vote. What really angers me is that while Obama reaps the benefits of his associations with machine politicians and crooks like Rezko, his constituents have reaped what–nothing. While Obama gets his mansion, they get the same old tenements.

Why is Obama continuing to play the race card? In my mind, it’s because he has nothing else. He changes his position on issues at the drop of a hat; his voting records in the state legislature and the US Senate are glaringly unimpressive; and his personal character traits are not the ones I look for in a President. In short, he is an empty suit, propped up by God knows who, willing to tear this country apart to get what he wants.

Comment by Linda | 2008-06-21 09:52:48

No doubt. But Florida is different than South Carolina and North Carolina. The African Americans will automatically be on to support their candidate, but the OTHERS, whites, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, other other Latins, Asians, Blue Collar, Seniors, Women and (now he is adding and making new groups, ie Jewish voters) are not as gullable and my experience, he may REALLY PISS THEM OFF AND ACTUALLY LOSE MORE VOTES.

Go for it stinky! (B O)

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-06-21 10:18:42

He won’t get N.C. and S.C., either. Those are solidly red states when it comes to presidential elections. The majority of the blacks will vote for him, but the white majority in those states are either moderate-conservative Democrats or conservative Republicans. They’re not against him because he’s black. They’re against him because he’s too far to the left and with the strong military presence in those states, they also worry about his foreign policy and his inexperience in all aspects of the military.

Comment by Linda | 2008-06-21 10:31:19

Comment by John | 2008-06-21 11:06:01

Considering how the Obama Team worked so hard to smear the Clintons as racists, yes, I would say that Obama thinks that merely running against him is a sypmtom of “the old stuff”, i.e, racism. His racial identity is a topic that permeates his books, and he shows a great deal of insecurity and cunfusion over it, often masked by ccckiness that seems rehearsed. He seems very schizophrenic: the only upside to this is watching his devoted cult of worshippers going through excruciating mental gymnastics to justify his flip-flops, misstatements, and outright lies. For example, I am really enjoying the claims that Obama’s rejection of public financing for his campaign actually will help strengthen the idea of public financing of elections. He is probably right about this but not in the way he intends. Obama reminds me of another arrogant, and deeply conflicted, politician: Richard M. Nixon. Follow the money.

I’m beginning to think that in many ways a President Obama would be WORSE that even President Bush has been.

Obama’s got an ace-in-the-hole he can use (and HAS used) to control and ELIMINATE ALL dissent and criticism: everyone would be afraid to say anything negative about Obama or his policies for FEAR of being labeled a “RACIST.”

The media would tell us we “must” cut the first “African-American” president extra slack just because he is “the first African-American president.”

NO ONE would be able to thwart Obama or say one negative thing about him, or the Obama “enforcers” would go after him or her.

How do I know this?

Because it has already happened.

Look at what happened to the Clintons. For decades, both Clintons were beloved in the black community because blacks knew the Clintons were on their side, and cared about them, and fought for issues important to blacks.

But Barack Obama has now turned even the Clintons into “racists” even though they aren’t and never were.

It’s a lesson learned by the media and any politician who might DARE to thwart Obama’s plans or say one negative thing about Obama.

Here’s Obama, recently:

“They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?”

So, you see, if you dare to mention that Obama is “young and inexperienced” or suggest that he’s incompetent or a fraud, Obama’s ace-in-the-hole is that in saying anything negative about Obama, you reveal yourself as a “racist.”

Get ready for it.

It’s coming and it’s here.

Obama would have us believe there cannot be ANY reason other than “racism” why anyone would not worship him. (There’s a name for that sort of fantasizing.)

Well, I can think of a few reasons why not to worship Obama. For starters, he’s a duplicitous, manipulative, angry, whiney, nasty liar.

Just like Hillary said it was all about sexism …
You people are funny , the race card came into play because he is black . I like how white people try and reverse the play by saying blacks are racists when all we’ve ever been doing is reacting to ill treatment by the white race among others .
Buck the fuck up and deal with the inevitable just like we have .

I think it is so pathetic the candidate of change continuously changes his position on the issues. This is not the kind of hope I want. I am tired of the empty speeches; empty because they have no substance. If Obama offers a policy issue on the campaign trail, chances are it was already tried. Nothing is new from the candidate except for his success with two words. Two meaningless words.

I am sure everyone would like to know Obama has raised $161,927 from lobbyists: http://www.obama-wire.com/obama_lobbyist.htm

I am sure everyone would to know Obama has a history on the campaign trail of never taking responsibility for the actions of his campaign; instead, he passes the buck off on his campaign: http://www.obama-wire.com/Apologies.htm

And now Obama has the audacity to suggest McCain will come after him on racial ground: http://www.obama-wire.com/racecard.htm
