My Response to Personal Attacks and Threats
By Paula Abeles on June 22, 2008 at 10:10 AM in Barack Obama, Black Liberation Theology, DNC, Disenfranchisement, Father Michael Pfleger, Hate Speech, John McCain, Minister Louis Farrakhan, Obama Attack Ads, Obama's Thugs, Obamedia, Qualifications, Race Card, Rev. James Meeks
My name is Paulie Abeles and until two days ago, most people knew me as a typical busy wife and mom. I am a life-long Democrat. My father, a triple eagle at Boston College, campaigned for JFK’s first Senate campaign; my mother actively supported Democratic candidates. My parents instilled in me a strong sense of fairness and equality, a thirst for knowledge, and an expectation that intelligent discussion should be based on well-researched facts. I graduated from Smith College and have worked for Salomon Brothers, The Stars & Stripes, and The Freight Forwarders Council.
I have spent the past six months actively supporting Hillary Clinton by setting up a network of bloggers to ensure that Senator Clinton’s positions were understood by the electorate. My family and I campaigned on her behalf in the primaries. I supported Hillary Clinton because of her experience, knowledge of the issues, and her practical approach and commitment to the bread-and-butter issues facing this country.
During the campaign, I have become increasingly alarmed by the refusal of the media to properly scrutinize Senator Obama’s actions and associations. I have also been appalled by the political maneuverings of the DNC to ensure that their chosen candidate was selected—including, just as one example, breaking their own rules to ensure that the two states that supported Hillary were stripped of their delegates even though five states broke the rules.
Lastly, I have been aghast at the vitriol and name-calling being spewed by Obama supporters against anyone who has an honest disagreement with them.
As documented throughout by the “attack timeline” formerly found on the HRC website—the Obama campaign employed a concerted strategy of constantly questioning the likability, honesty, experience, and integrity of Clinton. While the candidate portrayed himself as ‘above it all’—his campaign relentlessly faxed pages and pages of material designed to stoke the fires of false controversies.
I do not believe that Barack Obama would make a good president of the United States. Frankly, I think there is a minimum standard of accomplishment and experience we should expect from a candidate for the toughest job in the world. By any metric Obama falls short. Kirk Watson couldn’t name Senator Obama’s legislative accomplishments. I can– two bills: to promote democracy in the African Congo and to name a post office. Certainly, Senator Obama’s 130 “present” votes in the Illinois legislature when asked to take a stand on controversial issues do not inspire confidence.
Many of the people that supported Hillary Clinton have similar reservations about Senator Obama’s fitness to lead. Thus, on Saturday, I helped organize an informational meeting and teleconference with John McCain for supporters of Hillary Clinton who were trying to decide whether to support Barack Obama or John McCain.
Less than 48 hours later, I was attacked, called “deeply racist”, a “lunatic”, “rabid” and with “a history of jobs, statements, actions and practice that leave her very vulnerable to accusations that she is a ‘racist’”. One site even claimed: “keeping black people out of the party has been a lifelong ambition of hers.” The basis of the attack was a controversy involving my husband’s ancestor, Thomas Jefferson.
As many of you have probably heard, some descendants of Sally Hemings, a slave in the household of Thomas Jefferson, have claimed that they are descendants of Thomas Jefferson. Sally Hemings had three sons: Thomas Woodson, Madison Hemings, and Eston Hemings. Descendants of Thomas Woodson had their DNA tested 7 times—each time there was no match. Descendants of Madison Hemings declined to be tested. The white descendants of Eston Hemings had their DNA tested and were a match to a Jefferson, but the DNA tests could not determine if the Jefferson genes were from Thomas Jefferson or one of the 27 other Jefferson males that lived in the area at the time and visited frequently. Additionally, since Thomas Jefferson was 64 at the time of Eston’s birth and was suffering from prostate cancer, which often caused impotency, it is less likely that Eston was a son of Thomas Jefferson. A 2001 Scholars Commission of 13 prominent Jefferson historians (including the former chair of Harvard’s Department of Government), examined all the evidence for a year, and issued a 500-page report that concluded that the allegations of a relationship between Hemings and Thomas Jefferson were not true, and that was not enough evidence to determine Eston Hemings’ paternity.
During 2003, a member of the Jefferson family set up a Yahoo chat room for family members and Hemings descendants to discuss the issues. Unfortunately, discussions became strained and many individuals who disagreed that Thomas Jefferson fathered Eston Hemings were barred from the site. Bloggers from both sides used assumed names to try to get information from the other side. When the moderator discovered me, a Washington Post reporter asked me if I was on the chat room under a pseudonym—and I—foolishly perhaps—answered honestly.
However, it was never a racial issue. Eston Hemings’ descendents (the only Hemings that applied) are, by any calculus, white. No doubt passions at the time were overheated, and honorable people can disagree. Part of the consideration was that as DNA typing becomes more sophisticated, a definitive analysis could prove the issue in the future.
This is the sum and total of the activities for which I have been vilified. I am a private citizen who has never held a position with either the Clinton or McCain campaign.
But, there is a curious double standard at work here.
Barack Obama, the presumptive nominee of our party and possible President of the United States participated in a racist church for twenty years. A church whose “Black Liberation Theology” is the apotheosis of hate. In one year alone, Senator Obama contributed $22,000 to support the church. He has allied himself with other racists: namely Rev. James Meeks and Father Pfleger.
The National Review reported that in a single year, Senator Obama appeared on the cover of the church magazine four times. Three of those times, Senator Obama shared the cover with Louis Farrakhan. How is this double standard rational?
I am a mother of two small children living in a diverse community who has seen my life turned upside down by half-truths and vicious attacks. Some have printed my address and phone number. I have been harassed and threatened.
But, as far as I can tell, that has been the Obama campaign’s strategy all along—to isolate, to discredit, to destroy. But, Clinton supporters have seen this game before. You will not frighten us anymore. Even when four of our member networks were disrupted by mysterious viruses—with barely 24-hour notice—we managed to turn out thousands of HRC supporters on a conference call with John McCain. Supporters that will not, under any circumstances vote for a “democratic” party that disenfranchised us—not because we are racists, or ‘closet republicans,’ but because we are Americans.
And that must have you very worried.

No, of course not, someone carrying water for the Jefferson family’s baffling unwillingness to even admit that the family had black descendants couldn’t possibly have a racial angle.
Thanks for taking a stand Paula…

Turning out support for a John McCain conference call seems a helluva roundabout way of supporting Hillary Clinton. If we’re as resilient in the face of oncoming fire as we purport to be, why aren’t we getting together, going to Washington and blocking the entrance to DNC headquarters over its extortion of Clinton and illegal nominee declaration? It has been two weeks now and nothing like that has happened.
I’m all for a Boston Tea Party type statement to the DNC… I’m ready to dump Crates of Blue Koolaide in Lake Michigan if that’s what it takes. The best way to get at a candidate and their party is to take away the money. If all the HILLARY bundlers and finance people do that, and say, look i appreciate what Hillary has said, but I’m not giving money to some one I personally don’t support, than the DNC should be waking up. Judging from the number of money requests that I’ve gotten from the DNC (all of which I’ve replied to with bright pink florescent markings “NO OBAMA EVER” and monopoly money) show the money is going else where. His fundraising numbers weren’t that much off McCain’s recently.
DRY UP THE DNC and THE OBAMA money. That’ll get their attention
Also STOP volunteering!!!! ALL THE WAY DOWN THE TICKET!!! SAY be the democrating f*ing party or forget my vote, my money, and my time!
This is the key…Money.
Follow the money.
Barackula is a puppet.
Factcheck2,
YOU SAY “Turning out support for a John McCain conference call seems a helluva roundabout way of supporting Hillary Clinton.”
Actually, it’s the perfect way to support Hillary Clinton.
Hillary supporters have two scenarios in front of them. 1) Obama implodes, the Supers come to their senses and Hillary beats out Obama at the convention. 2) Obama hangs on, wins the nomination and our choice for President is either Obama or McCain.
To support Hillary winning the nomination, we have to keep blogging the truth about Obama, writing letters where it counts, helping Hillary retire her debt and declaring loudly that we will vote in a Hillary bloc for McCain if Obama prevails at the convention.
If second scenario is all we have – Obama or McCain, then the only way to keep Obama out of the Presidency is to vote McCain.
Obama and the DNC are wildly happy that Hillary supporters are so naively splitting their votes – some won’t vote at all, some will write in Hillary, some will vote for the Green Party and so on.
EVERY SINGLE VOTE FOR ANYBODY OTHER THAN McCAIN IS A VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA. This will be a close election – remember Nadar siphoning off a few votes and handing the Presidency to Bush?
Continue to support Hillary for now, relentlessly declare your intention to vote for McCain if it comes to that.
DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO McCAIN AT THIS TIME!!!
He could end up being Hillary’s rival. Wait and see what the convention brings. Obama is in for some rough road between now and Denver.
If we do have McCain as the only decent option after August, remember that everybody expects a strong Democratic Majority in both the House and Senate. McCain will not be able to get conservative judges approved (including a conservative on the Supreme Court), and he will not be able to continue Bush’s war without funding from Congress.
McCain will be a lame-duck, one-term President that has little power or influence – and no one needing to appease him.
Meanwhile, Hillary can be building her base for 2012.
HOLD YOUR NOSE – USE YOUR HEAD – VOTE FOR DEADLOCK – VOTE FOR JOHN McCAIN!
…if it comes to that.
I can’t stress this enough. Take no chances. Do not waste your vote.
If not Hillary, then McCain
I don’t suddenly like John McCain because I dislike Obama.
I don’t have the same contempt for his supporters, but I certainly have problems with his positions.
I just keep coming back to the issues.
Much on my mind today is the fact that the McCain national energy policy is simply a cosmetic makeover of the Bush energy policy.
Confronting the realities of America’s energy future is for the most part seen as a matter of clearing the way for the short-term profits to be had from domestic offshore drilling.
This, despite experts agreeing that those reserves are very limited; that we couldn’t look for large-scale production until 2030; and that domestic production would likely serve a worldwide market, having little effect on domestic pump prices.
Experts generally agree that the “gas tax holiday” is as bogus as political ploys get. It wouldn’t make a huge difference to consumers, and the government would simply use a more devious and less efficient way of getting the same money out of your pocket.
McCain’s “alternative energy” initiative is pretty much idential to that of Bush. It’s just a bit more lipstick on the same pig, applied in an effort make it more attractive.
All this comes down to is an effort to maintain the oil industry status quo for another decaded. But the looming global energy crisis is far bigger issue than four-bucks-plus at the pump. We don’t have four years left to piddle around with the same old B.S.
The wise among us are saying we need to treat this like a national emergency; that we need to turn and charge full-tilt toward proven alternative energy technologies now, with the funding and single-mindedness of the Manhattan Project or the Apollo Program.
They’re absolutely right. We don’t have four more years.
Enough solar energy falls on a tiny fraction of our deserts to supply the entire energy needs of the nation. Permanently. We could develop the technology to harvest it in a decade. We wouldn’t need a separate expensive global climate change strategy, because solving the energy problem would be our strategy. Our remaining oil reserves could be utilized to make the transition to a future where we’re not a nation of pathetic oil junkies, wandering the world’s back alleyways looking for our next foreign pusher.
tiberious,
I agree the energy problem is paramount. However, we can’t let our political election system collapse by being held hostage to one issue.
McCain is not an evil man by any means. And he will have a strong Democratic Majority to deal with.
It would take another idiot like Bush to stand by cluelessly and let the nation go down the drain in an emergency. I don’t believe McCain – under pressure from a freaked-out public and a powerful Democratic Majority – will block attempts to “save the nation” in crisis.
We have to navigate ourselves through a less than perfect situation here.
I say elect McCain – if we can’t have Hillary – and push him to do the right things.
Remember, right now, McCain has to appease the far right to get elected. My guess is he will move to the center as soon as he becomes President. I doubt even he has illusions about having eight years in office – so no need to kiss the butts of the right for 2012 election purposes.
McCain has a long history of working across the aisle.
Our option is to endure eight years of Barack “the Chicago thug” Obama preening around the White House playing President.
Oops!
I meant to say “Our ALTERNATIVE is to endure eight years of Barack…playing President.”
Obama is untrustworthy period. He has sold out so many progressive agendas that trusting him to resolve the energy crisis is unreasonable. I appreciate that you have given thought to serious, but it is clear to me that Obama will not be a part of the solution. Obama is ambitious, and that’s the only kind word for him.
Excellently put, Linda A. I agree on all counts.
I agree I do not feel much power within myself to acomplish what I feel must and should be done, organizing to defeat the injustices on Hillary Clinton.I am not a racist but have found out that the racism derives and is embedded in churches like Wright and his liberation theology from the very people who accuse racism.America Found out where the true racism exists and it turned its ugly head back 40 years. Most Americans thought that racism against the Afro American people had diminished. When you think of Condolisa Rice,Colin Powell,Princeton, and a candidacy to the Presidency though I might add Never has a black President has been elected in our nation. But in Retrospect Neither has a woman.
So what then was the DNC thinking to allow both to run together in such a Historical Campaign? So then a thought, are we to measure the importantance and equality in who was the winner between a Historical first woman or or Black President? Did this not in itself cause a turmoil of thought In the minds of Americans? We coukd go down a whole new sugjuect there for instance in how Black Americans treat their woman. So there you have it woman are least respected in society. So where does that make us better then Afghansitanian woman or African native woman. We could talk about the slavery of woman in History and their opressions. And of course I cannot rule out other minorities like Mexican,Asian,Indian, ect ect that have made it to the most powerful positions of the United States. But under all those nationalities is it not the woman in every nationality that feels the opression and the unequality?
Why then did the Democratic party not equally stand up for Hillary in this Historical election.Stand against the news media. For Gods sake even woman polititicians have their heads up their A$$!What are they living in denial or Acceptance of where they are allowed to be in life. How many woman just accept their roles and work their hearts out to please in the roles they have submitted to?
What’s everyone going to do when they see Sen. Clinton campaigning for Obama next week in FL., OH., MI., TX., PA., and elsewhere?
How will everyone feel about what she said about Obama? I can’t watch. This man is very wrong for POTUS and watching Senator Clinton stump for him is more than I can bear.
How does everyone feel about that? Does it feel like more abuse piled on top of abuse?
While Clinton helps his sorry ass, Barakula won’t give her a nickel toward paying off her campaign debt.
He doesn’t have the nomination yet. If things go wrong for him, she needs to be seen as having behaved responsibly towards the party. That doesn’t mean his supporters will feel good about her, but it will make it possible for her to proceed with some level of reasonable freedom with everyone else.
It’s essential that she do it. it’s essential for this country that she do it. She’s a professional pol and she must deliver.
I’m not gonna watch of listen because it’ll make me crazy, but she’s bigger and smarter than me. And it’s the right thing for her to do.
But will that ruin her? Her 18 million supporters are now being told to vote for him..when they do not want to?
Lou,
Hillary has no choice but to kiss the rings of Obama and the DNC. You’ve got to know it makes her nuts to do it, but it’s her only political choice.
If by some miracle she ends up with the nomination, she cannot win the Presidency without Obama supporters and the support of the DNC.
FOR ALL OUR SAKES, HILLARY HAS TO BE A GOOD DEMOCRAT AND TOW THE LINE.
No one should desert this admirable woman in some naive belief that she has – in her heart – subjugated herself to the Democratic opposition.
We have to be smart, stick by her and politely ignore her (forced) pleas for unity – until after the convention. Then, everybody will have to make their own choices.
Hillary is not the issue anyway. Obama and the DNC screwed half the Democratic voters – my half. They cannot be allowed to get away with that unless we are willing to face doom for our political system and the country. God knows, we are hanging by a thread now.
STAND BY YOUR WOMAN! EMPATHIZE WITH HER, DONATE TO HER, POLITELY IGNORE HER CALLS FOR UNITY – until after the convention.
It’s takes one hell of a strong woman to stand up there on that potium, with Obama, and praise this guy. I know I wouldn’t beable to do it. I just hope all her money backers, don’t back Obama,or the DNC until we see what happens at the convention. I only heard she’d be with Obama next Friday.I never heard of any other engagements. Her strong supporters, must know what happened here, and if we are all upset, I’m sure her backers must be.
Saying somebody has to lie and sell their soul in order to stay in good standing with the Dem Party is pure B.S. Barack has done none of this. He’s given Clinton the finger and trashed her like a whore. And no penalty from the Dems.
Sen. Clinton, on the other hand, has received the Stepford Wife treatment from the party. That’s why she either needs to be rescued or called to account for her hypocrisy and going back on her promise not to quit. For her to endorse and abuser and a scoundrel is not OK. And she knows how bad this guy is.
Click on my screen name for an article about the October Surprise she was hinting about in May
Factcheck2,
I can’t decide whether you’re politically naive, politically suicidal or just politically idealistic to a fault – maybe you’re all three.
You wish for a political world that only a Barack Obama can sell – and we see how that’s turning out already.
It would be great if Mr. and Mary Poppins were running for the big one in 2008 but that’s not what’s on our plate.
You and I are obviously engaged in politics and pay attention to what’s going on. But the great silent majority out there – the voters who will really decide this election – are not even paying attention. They decide on headlines, sound bytes, personal bias, etc.
That sad ignorance of anything other than the shallowest knowledge of what makes up a candidate’s character and policies is what makes political game-playing the necessary evil that it is.
Now we can sit around pining about what could be – and lose our butts, or we can get in there and fight the good fight to get the best possible candidate in office.
The time to work for changing the system is when a President is in place and governing can begin.
When that time comes, I’m with you all the way on fixing the mess that we call elections and governance.
But right now, we have a dirty election to win.
We have to be smart, stick by her and politely ignore her (forced) pleas for unity – until after the convention. Then, everybody will have to make their own choices.
I agree. She’s earn our trust with her hard work. She could have quit in Feb, but did not. She’s trying to keep the party in one piece. I really can’t see Obama lasting till late Aug, that seal is crazy!
look Hillary doesn’t have to tow the line…I think she was hoping that her debt would be paid off but Barry needs all the money to keep spining lies. Now Biden says that Hillary was the better Veep choice. She needs to grab her nuts and stand up for what is right…she knows he’s not the best person to run the country. However I think they are deliberately sabotaging his campaign and McCain will offer cabinet positions to Biden and Hillary. ha just kidding but it may not be far from the truth. Biden and Hillary must have so much anger inside…they can’t be happy that they have to go against what they said in the primaries. Oh well I really think the wheels are coming off the Nobama campaign. I’m just not looking forward to the race debates after the sucker loses.
I cant stand the thought of Hillary lowering her standards and campaigning for that that that I cant say the words to describe him I wish her luck if she keeps her fingers crossed while shes talking nothing she says nice will count. It is so wrong of the party to even think she should help him.
Thank god for all you bloggers it has helped me see I am not alone. jeanlyn
Because they’re moving to Chicago?
Start organizing one? Many of us will happily partake.
Thank you for posting this Paula. It is terrible that having a political Opinion now engenders ‘Death Threats”. You did a stellar job on Neil’s show last week.
Paula, are you or members of your husbands family members of the “Daughters of the American Revolution” (DAR) or a related group? If so would you be so kind as to provide readers here a brief explanation fo the grou, and as to WHY linneage is considered so crucial?
Sincere appreciation for all you do. Stay strong and know you are not alone.
You have the thanks of many of us, Paula, for standing tall and speaking out. There are many disturbing aspects about this campaign season (the media’s near complete abdication of objective reporting is certainly one, but the virtual thugdom emanating from the Obama camp is truly frightening. Anyone else out there hearing the echo of jackboots?
yes, Paula, THANK YOU!
you are not alone.
Imagine if an Obama supporter, banned from a Hillary website because of a “disagreement”, started posting under an alias. How would you kind folks react? I’m sure you’d scream “nazi”, “thugs”, “black separtists”, etc. But, when YOU do the same thing in an effort to deceive the Hemmings descendants, that’s just..what..nobility?
Everyone:
Take a look at this YouTube Video:
Obama Lies Again, Maybe We Should Believe Larry Sinclair
http://youtube.com/watch?v=5ZIR4nTAZaY
There he goes again…
Barack Obama lying his ass off again…
I’m starting to believe Larry Sinclair…
We should take up a collection and publish Paula’s post in the NYT.
That f*cking paper WILL NOT SAY ANYTHING about this.
I would like their readers to know what is really going on, and not being reported.
Their only comments are justifying Obama’s refusal to help Clinton pay back her debt, EVEN AS SHE ASKS HER SUPPORTERS to donate to his campaign. The NYT says it’s because the Obama camp still harbors anger over Clinton’s negative campaign. The COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what really happened.
Send it to a British newspaper. They LOVE stirring the waters!!!!
I think this is a lovely idea. It appears that only the overseas press is willing to step on the Great One’s toes.
That’s why BO was whining and crying at the Women’s Black Caucus meeting last week: “THEY hurt MY feelings!” This is a leader? He’s pathetic, as MO pointed out. The ultimate narcissist. I’m glad that he doesn’t recognize or care about reaching out to HRC supporters. It will sink him in November, and I do NOT want this man anywhere near the presidency.
Hubris will be his undoing, just like the Greek tragedies illustrated.
I just watched all 6 tapes at youtube about the Larry Sinclair Press Conference and I believe him. I believe him because I also believe that honesty is the best policy and that a lie, even told to protect one’s family members usually backfires at some point. That Obama would run and hide from his drug use and alledge bisexuality actions to protect his wife and daughters is understandable. However, the behaviour is and should be made known and I don’t think fitting of a presidential candidate. We know what Bill Clinton did in the WH and what the country went through, we should be smart enough to prevent another impeachment on sex. If Obama is guilty we need to know now. and he needs to step down NOW!
Each of these tapes was about 10 minutes long but worth listening to and one should listen and make your judgement if Larry Sinclair is telling the truth. I believe him.
Obama’s been very hypocritical on many issues and his words are often phony. Better that we fix the problem now before the GE.
Well, it was a bit like following a good trial. The defense team always makes sure the “con” is at ease with talking about his past crimes.
It’s all about credibility.
I don’t have an opinion other than I think some smart young journlist should find this limo driver and interview him.
Is there no one interested enough to follow up these days?
Heck, the limo drive COULD be so unconvincing that we all just decide Sinclair is just a life-long nutcase.
But I’d still like to hear a follow-up.
Well I suggest the media prove Larry Sinclair is a liar and then I’ll vote for Obama.
Until then NOBAMA!
What makes you think he isw protecting his family?
Is there a follow-up on what happened to Sinclair after his arrest?
I think the allegations made by LS regarding Donald Young are the most disturbing. Don’t you? What if BO was involved with D Young and Young was killed for threatening to expose BO. A lover’s quarrel maybe? Who knows, I think it should be investigated. On talk Radio a reporter said there were many reporters at LS NPC so maybe one of them will find something.
Also I believe Bill Clinton’s impeachment was that he lied under oath about the sex.
I totally agree, chills went down my spine when I read the transcript and discovered he had been murdered.
It happened in December 2007, so who knows? Maybe a concerted effort by Axelrod and Obama to make sure Young never squealed to the press?
Hello? Of course. The term is obstruction of justice..usually means holding back info or lieing.
Oh and there were 3 gay men fron the church muderdered between Thanksgiving and Christmas eve. This is not new news. It been around since it happened. The cover up had been going on ever since. The parishoners gave away the clues of BHO’s involement. People know wat went down but like all the other issues, no one is paying attantion except it is being investigated.
Paula, you and Larry will be seen as patriots at the end of the day!
Stand strong. I believe somehow all of this is going to come back on Obama tenfold. If Obama loses this election, it is basically the end of his political career. That may be his reward.
“IF” he loses? Let’s make sure that he becomes the loser at the polls that he already is as a human being (I almost feel sorry for him. . . he truly needs psychological help).
NO, I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU! AT A TIME THIS COUNTRY HAS FALLEN TO ITS LOWEST POINT DUE TO THE CORRUPT REPUBLICANS AND INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT WHO COULD’NT EVEN PUT A SENTENCE TOGETHER (WHICH EMBARRASSED US) WE HAVE NO NEED FOR YET ANOTHER FLIPFLOPPING FOOL! WE NEED A WHOLE NEW MAKEOVER IN OUR ADMINISTRATION AND OBAMA WILL BE THE ONE TO DO IT! NO MORE CRIMINALS IN WASHINGTON, NO MRE LIERS WHO CAN’T REMEMBER ANYTHING, NO MORE PERVERTS PLAYING FOOTSIE IN THE BATHROOMS! ONCE WE HAVE THE MOST DECENT PERSON, OBAMA, IN THE WHITEHOUSE IT WILL BE ONCE AGAIN BE A GOVERNMENT TO BE PROUD OF! THE CLINTONS HAD TOO MUCH BAGGAGE IN THEIR LIVES AND TOO, TOO, MANY DEATHS FOLLOWING THEM WITH PEOPLE WHO CROSSED THEM! GO OBAMA!!
Ah, Bill…..put your glass of Kool-Aid down. Actually, put your 2 liter bottle of Kool-aid down.
We don’t agree with anything you have SHOUTED at us and we never will….include never will vote for Obama.
And I’m a (former) lifelong (42 year) Democrat.
Wow — ALL CAPS — very scary…….
That’s why you must not vote for the flipflopping fool Obama.
Yeah RIGHT. A crooked politician is going to clean up the Washington corruption just because he says words to delude to that. There you go again. Barack Obama lieing again. Can you keep track?
Why didn’t they want Senator Clinton? Why?
Because she is the one who they fear will clean up the corruption. Judge a person by the company they keep not by the words they say.
I’m not seeing anyone corrupt in Senator Clintons
sphere of support or friends. Like McCain said, it’s all about trust.
WE HAVE NO NEED FOR YET ANOTHER FLIPFLOPPING FOOL!
Lol! Hey Bill, do you actually read? Obama flip-flopped on no fewer than 4 major issues this week alone: Iraq, NAFTA, FISA, and public financing. He is making every other “flip-flopping fool” look like an amateur–and he’s just getting started.
And lies?? Do a little research Bill, this guy lies like breathing. There is not enough room to even begin the list here, but don’t worry, I saw Karl Rove reel off a list of BO lies, readying to expose him, and they are paying close attention.
I feel sorry for you and you’re completely misinformed euphoria, because you are going to crash hard with disappointment when the illusion is dispelled. Good luck with that, and keep a good therapist on speed dial.
WE HAVE NO NEED FOR YET ANOTHER FLIPFLOPPING FOOL!
Based on some of his recent policy changes, that would be Obama, wouldn’t it?
I can’t believe that someone is so ill informed that he blames everything that has gone on since 2000 just on Republicans when we all know that it was done with Democratic help.
Who took impeachment “off the table”?
We wouldn’t be having any of these discussions if the Democratic majority had half the courage of the voters and kept their promises of 2006. And now they are trying to stick us with another specious replica of GWB.
(Another one blinded by The Obama.)
Dear Paula,
I saw your interview on Fox last week and sent you an email of thanks and admiration.
How many of us are there? You have obviously become a magnent so perhaps you have an idea. I see thousands of comments on dozens of blogs but that’s just the very small universe of the political blogs. Is is an indication of a larger current across the country?
I had doubts about Obama from the start. The Hope & change stuff rang so empty to me. But when I myself was bullied and insulted by Obama worshipers I really began to wonder what was going on. He was inspiring such hostility and hypocrisy.
Let us know how you think we can best organize. I never ever thought I would be supported a repbulican…but to remain silent is to condone the outrageous behavior of the Obama campaign and the DNC.
Thank again for your courage. I support you 1,000%.
Sincerely,
Sarah
p.s. take a look at the video under the entry “PUMA’s response to Obama’s plea for us to “get over it”. You’ll appreciate it!
OOPS! here’s tshe link
http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/
I loved the video, but I scrolled down and watched the one made by Obama Nation. I am not ashamed to say, I am terrified.
Thank you for speaking out. Stay strong and keep the faith. You are not alone.
Dear Paula,
Thank you so much for speaking out about the harassment and threats you have suffered at the hands of Mr. Hope and Change’s gang of thugs.
There are many of us, as you know, who have been called racists, republicans and other names, usually having to do with body parts, and many of us who have received death threats. They are meant to intimidate and silence.
I so appreciate your honesty and strength. BO’s followers don’t like being compared to Fascists, but they don’t mind behaving like them.
Just Say No Deal!
http://justsaynodeal.com/index.html
I was not surprised to see a blog make an unsupported statement that you had a histroy of being racist. I don’t know you, but I can judge a sad attempt at smear when I read it. I would be offended that the campaign of my candidate used such tactics if I were a Obama supporter. But I’m not and it continues to amaze me that people can abide such tripe and call it hope.
Anyone know how much blogging involement the Nation of Islam members have in the Obama Campaign?
Thank you. It takes a lot of courage to stand up in the public eye, go on talk shows, and write about what has happened to you. You are doing a great service by informing the public of the systematic tactics of the Obama campaign. Their use of race baiting and bullying tactics cannot be tolerated.
I hope the American people will wake up to what is going on. Thank you again.
Thanks for responding to the charges, Paula.
Thank you Paula.
I dislike the name calling if you support Hillary you are called uneducated, racist, gun toting, bible thumping, wack jobs – I am none of the above..It makes me sick. This isn’t political change it’s the same old same old. Obama is no different from the old boss. I am surprised that he hasn’t moved the White House to Chicago and claimed himself president yet.
Have you seen the big new emblem Obama has on his podium yet I guess he designed it. Its as though he thinks he is already elected what a crock. jeanlyn
I just want to share something I encountered couple of days ago. I met a friend of mine after long time. The first thing that came out of his mouth was “that bitch is out of the race”. I couldn’t believe since he has never been hostile towards women. Since he became an Obama supporter, he has become what I have encountered on blogs and boards.
I have been reading quite a lot of message boards between Obama supporters and Hillary supporters. I don’t seem to understand why Obama supporters are so vile. I find that Hillary supporter are more civil and more fact oriented.
I asked why he liked and supported Obama? His response was “He is intelligent, inspirational, brings change and hope”?
Then I asked him how does he inspire? He couldn’t answer that.
Asked him what does Obama stands for and what has he done to prove that he is worthy of being the next President? I got the same answer “He is inspirational, brings change and hope?”
I am baffled that no journalist or supporters has asked him “HOW is he going to bring about change?… What steps are you going take in order make the changes you promise? show us some examples as to how you going to accomplish these changes… or what are you basis or past experience, accomplishments etc…”
You see when I go for job interview they drill me to make sure I am a perfect fit and candidate for the job. Most fortune 500 companies CEO hired based on their experience and accomplishments. Why aren’t’ these questions being addressed? If he went for the job interview I went, he would be still looking for jobs hopelessly. He is not accountable for anything? He has to earn it and not given to him on the platter. If lazy, over indulg and self-entitlement feeling spoilt young voters are voting for him… man you guys are waiting for rude awakening. All I can say is that the DEMS are idiots.
People are just blindly following him like in a cult. Very scary. Another note, I noticed that he copied lot of Hillary style speeches and ideas. I have to give kudos on thing, he is an expert on copying
To make long story short, my friend is a graduate from one of the best universities in North America, didn’t know too much about Bill Clinton or any other presidents except for JFK. He said he was greatest president. Asked why was he great coz he gave excellents speaches So I enlighten him about past presidents and also told him my point of view of Obama. He was shocked and angry.
This is best part, he is going to volunteer for his campaign and he is not a US citizen and he has contributed to his campaign. I was also told that LTTE (a terrorist organization) has endorsed and contributed money to his campaign. By the way Clinton office rejected and returned campaign funds from LTTE supporters in America http://www.asiantribune.com/?q=node/9566
Hope?
Change?
I only hope that people wake up and change this sad outcome
I wonder how the Obama campaign has that effect on people.
There was a documentary last night on ID channel about Heaven’s Gate. I don’t know how many remember that cult? It was a UFO religion led by a man named Applewaite. He convinced his followers if they went through his training classes, they would be accepted by the mother ship when the time was right.
The “right time” came with Hale Bopp comet in 1997 after Appelwaite found out he was terminally ill. Thirty eight of them committed suicide by poison.
In 1978 over nine hundred people “drank the koolaid” in Jonestown, Guyana in the largest mass suicide recorded in modern history.
Do I need to mention Charles Manson? How and why would a large group of people set aside reason and fact to follow someone else and put their complete, unconditional trust in a relative stranger?
I am not in anyway suggesting obama mania is an example of these tragedies. I hope it another fad like the latest xbox or cellphone. None of the comments I have seen posted by his supporters are in the least suicidal, but some of them are murderous.
So only Hillary’s supporters are allowed to volunteer to help ?
Denounce him to the F.E.C.
Any proofs ? Any links to newspaper articles ?
Plenty of terrorist organizations have contributed to Barky’s campaign. It’s common knowledge.
It’s not common knowledge to me, never heard that before. Which groups? Where can I read more about this?
I had the same conversation with my brother in law. We have always agreed politically. When I told him I would not be voting for Obama he starting screaming at me. I thought he was going to have a stroke. I calmly tried to give him my reasons and he attacked my saying I was buying into the racist media. I asked him if he had researched Obama at all and he screamed again NO. So I’m the one buying into the Media?
Oh P.S. he too also called Hillary evil, evil. My 84 year old mother in law was standing there and she supports Hillary also.
I seem to remember him being a big Bill Clinton fan back in the day.
What makes these people snap like this. Kool Aid I guess!!!
It is a very strange phenomenon, and I hope good psychologists out there are documenting this behavior, and can articulate it clearly in the future. It is definitely aberrant.
That’s common. When I told some friends who have voted for Obama what Obama planned to do to the Oregon coastline with the LGN’s they almost choked. People supporting Barky have no idea what he stands for.
Thank you, Paula!
Obama is trying to sell himself to the whites/Asians/Hispanics as a candidate who transcends race while he, his wife and his handlers are race peddling whenver it’s convenient.
Obama reminds me of the bat in Aesop’s “The Birds, the Beasts and the Bat”
He’s an ultimate oppotunist and traitor.
And people, please stop calling Obama “Obambi”. It’s an insult to Bambi.
Bambi is a hero and role model to all the children while Obama can only set negative examples.
I was thinking the same thing! I feel bad that Bambi has to be associated with this hypocrite.
Hmmm….How about Barry Queen of Snots ?
Obama and his supporters display consistant Fascist behavior…nuff said
How about……….
BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, not fit for KINGSHIP!
I’ll have to look up the Aesop’s fable – are you saying it should be called “The Birds, the Beasts and the Barack?”
Paula I apreciate what you’ve done for our movement but they’re going to keep taking your family heritage issues out of context. I’m afraid you being out there as a spokesperson for us is going to distract people from the real issues. You know this Jefferson business leaves you vulnerable to attacks. For our movement I really hope you move to the sidelines.
I agree with this comment. The Jefferson/Hemmings thing is a very strong distraction.
Perception is so key here because Hemmings has become the icon for all the black women slaves who were raped by their slave masters. It’s an historical fact that once personalized, as in the case of the Hemmings descendents who have sought to lay claim to a heritage, it no longer can remain as a detached footnote in the pages of a history book. No one wants this bit of walking history mingling at their family reunions.
Is this racist? Uh… yeah!
Does this have anything to do with whether or not Barack Obama is qualified or experienced enough to be POTUS as well as your right as a voter to support the candidate of your choice in this democracy? And does not supporting Obama make you a racist?
NO!
Especially because Barack Obama, unlike me, is half-white. He shouldn’t be allowed to exploit his half-black side even more so because he was raised by white people.
Unfortunately, this tactic is what has Hillary on the sidelines. It’s Obama using the Harold Washington school of racial politics. And it certainly worked on Hillary.
What the above poster is saying, don’t let YOUR family heritage issues distract from the real issues of our movement.
And it’s a point well taken.
Paula. Good. Strong. Potent.
“Lastly, I have been aghast at the vitriol and name-calling being spewed by Obama supporters against anyone who has an honest disagreement with them.”
Honest disagreement? What a laugh!! You’re SMEARING Obama stop trying to play the victim here.
From what I’ve heard, Paula documented the harassing phone calls and is presenting them to the authorities.
I agree 100% that Obama does not meet the minimum qualifications for the presidency, and I’m glad you’re a pointing that out publicly.
Ultimately, we all WILL get over the sexism (heck, I’m a woman….not about to stay mad on that issue or I’d just be a mad person 24-7!)…on the DNC political shenanigans…(we call them politicians for a reason)….
We have to vote on the record. He has none. He says he’ll be this type of a president. However, when one has no record, such as McCain, then we’re relying upon his word. Already he’s bashed his own reputation to smithereens by lying too often. Therefore, we’re back to looking at his record.
There is none.
LOL*
Bottom line. He has no record.
I’m not sure I agree we’ll get over it Annin or even that we should. This has opened a door and let the light shine on Truth at least for me.
Some of the comments of the media and bloggers have made it acceptable to express contempt and lack of respect for women. A group like Emily’s List whose stated purpose is to help pro-choice women win elections and NARAL, have offered a sacrifice on the alter of going along to get along. I believe it is a decision they will regret in the future. Their lack of organized protest against the sexism of this campaign is acquiescence.
I have cancelled my membership in both organizations and will not make donations until they offer public apologies and explain the choices they have made. The only explanation they have given so far is the need for “change” etc, could have been taken from an Obama speech.
In 2003, NARAL changed it’s name from NARAL Pro Choice American to NARAL. In other words, they sanitized it and I am sorry I didn’t protest. At least half of the Board of Directors are men.
The National Organization of Women made token protests against the media, but now the campaign is over, they have an interesting vote on which of the media have made the most egregious statements about Hillary.
Until I cancelled my membersip in Emily’s list two weeks ago, I recieved emails asking for my support for some of the women running for congress (locally and nationally). What will they say now? We will support you until the media decides to take you out and then, your’re on your own?
As far as the Party is concerned, I will go back when Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean and Donna Brazil are no longer officers and there is a resolution signed by every Democratic member of congress apologizing to Hillary Clinton for their silence.
These are decisions every woman will have to make for herself and we will find peace, If anything positive has come from this, it is the greatest show of unity among the largest group of women I have ever seen.
Thank you Paula. Your outrage is my outrage and millions of other women especially. I too have been attacked by the insane fanatical obamabots and that tactic of bullying and threats is disgusting, by itself, but has discouraged me from voting for Nobama EVER!
Party loyalty does not control, force or decide what my free will and choice does, EVER! It is so clear that Obama and his uninformed followers have little integrity, honesty or real positive concern for America and its citizens. When a ‘win’ mentality throws any so called obstacle under the bus, by lies, cheating and stealing votes it is wrong. If there ever were any good intentions in the selection of Nobama as the Democratic candidate it has been compromised severely. So much for hope and change-its more of Bushite politics and Obama represents the real decay in DC.
Thank you, Paula. As Roseeriter states, I too have been attacked by the Bots. They are threatening, bully thugs and the very lowest of the low. The fact that these people identify with BO tells me that there’s more to him and his campaign than he’s ever shown. These people have proven to be society’s losers and now they feel by associating with BO, they’re somehow empowered and ‘winners’. I’ve used this term before but they’re nothing more than ‘gypsies in the palace’. They’ll loot and pillage and tear down anything that anyone built before them. Their leader is not qualified, has no work history (unless you count all those years of campaigning as ‘work’), is not capable of speaking well ‘off the cuff’ without a rhetoric-speech at hand. His friends are crooks. His supporters are crooks. I am horrified to think that there’s a possibility this person could be elected.
Just imagine the abuse by his supporters if he were to win? They’ve not backed off their vitriol since Hillary suspended her campaign. They’re only going to get worse and they’re led and encouraged by Obama himself.
Thanks and hang in there, Paula. You’re not alone.
(Please feel free to link to our board: http://www.TheOtherDemocrats.com)
Thanks to Paula, my wife and I attended that meeting with John McCain. You may have read my article about it, posted here. When I learned about her treatment at the hands of Obama fans, I was horrified and appalled. How dare they stoop to such low tactics? What manner of person attacks and threatens a soccer mom with two little girls? I’ll leave that to your imagination.
Thanks for standing up to them, Paula.
I’m a 67 year old black woman and I say its unfair what they said about you, Paula.
Hardy har har.
You were fantastic on Fox’s Cavuto show the other day. Stand tall and stay strong.. Do not be intimidated by these keyboard warriors. You are on the side of GOOD. Good always triumphs over evil.
I would also report each and every threat you get by these people to the police, record their messages, take screen shots of web site that slander you/threaten you and save their threatening emails.
These people will fail in the end. You do not succeed in life by cheating, lying and stealing and THAT is the BO campaign in a nut shell.
Paula I appreciate what you’ve done for our movement but they’re going to keep taking your family heritage issues out of context. I’m afraid you being out there as a spokesperson for us is going to distract people from the real issues. You know this Jefferson business leaves you vulnerable to attacks. For our movement I really hope you move to the sidelines.
Paula, stand strong. You are no more or less vulnerable to attacks than anyone else. These wacky Obama supporters will find something unfounded to attack each of us for, no matter who we are, no matter what our history. You are a hero, just like Hillary is. I’m very proud of you, keep at it.
I think your concern is misplaced. She isn’t the representative or spokeswoman for our movement. I’m not sure it could be called a movement as much as groundswell.
She offered an explanation I am willing to accept until I am able to look at the information available before the campaign started and I am satisfied this is not another smear.
I believe she has contacted the police and it is not difficult to get phone records. She claims to have received between forty and fifty calls over the period of one week and, if it is true, would be very frightening.
God bless you, Paula! I salute for never giving up.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyman_Lemnitzer
I have read some men considered this general insane, even for his position on operation Northwoods.
It is very sad, but we do have people in our military who think in this manner.
Unfortunately, this trickles down to the civilian population as well, and without a strong immune system to fight this type of sick think, we end up with Lyman’s world vision.
But any competent mental health worker can handle a Lyman.
Thank you so much Paula! You speak for thousands, if not millions of us who don’t have a voice these days. As Hillary said – the “invisible” ones to this administration, media, and campaign.
I love watching your segments on TV. It’s not easy to get an articulate, well-mannered, intelligent, and as a bonus, beautiful woman as advocate for our causes – we are all very lucky to have you.
Thank you for all that you do – and please stay safe. I have endured the Obamabots’ abuses too, and my conclusion is that they attract the most violent crazies out there. Hitler’s youth movement comes to mind…Stay safe everyone.
It was August when Cassandra Mays-Lewis first contacted family members of Thomas Jefferson and his slave Sally Hemings and asked if she could join their private Internet chat group.
Lewis, who claimed to be a descendant of a Hemings nephew, was invited in, and while she didn’t participate in the group’s e-mail conversations, she did enjoy access to other members’ online musings and strategizing. All they knew about her was what she posted on her Yahoo! profile: that she was a 67-year-old black woman and an avid gardener and quilter who counted African American genealogy among her hobbies.
Over time, members began to suspect that she was something else entirely: an infiltrator in their electronic midst.
This week they went public with their suspicions, alleging that Mays-Lewis is actually Nat Abeles, president of the Monticello Association, the family tree of Jefferson’s white descendants and a group that last year voted overwhelmingly to deny Hemings’s offspring a place in their exclusive ranks.
Leading the charge was David Works, a lineal descendant of Jefferson and a Hemings family ally, who said he examined the coding in Mays-Lewis’s e-mail and discovered Abeles’ handiwork.
A smoking gigabyte, if you will.
Abeles denied it, saying in an interview Wednesday that such subterfuge wasn’t necessary since the chat group’s e-mails were already being leaked to him by a disgruntled chatter who felt the group was engaged in “inappropriate behavior.” “I don’t recognize a Cassandra Lewis or whatever,” he said.
But late yesterday, after Works threatened to have Abeles removed as president when the association meets in Charlottesville this weekend, Abeles said it was his wife who posed as the emphysema-suffering Cassandra to spy on the opposing camp. She did so without his knowledge, he said, admitting it only when he “confronted” her. [...]
The Hemings descendants have been guests at the retreat since 1999, after DNA tests linked a Jefferson male to one or more of Sally Hemings’s children. But to say that the families have not mixed well is an understatement: Last year’s affair devolved into a rancorous, racially charged shouting match that left many in tears and others vowing never to return.
This year’s get-together was shaping up to be no less hostile even before Mays-Lewis was unfrocked.
Weeks ago, Abeles instituted limits on who could attend the group’s Saturday night cocktail party, warning that extra security might be needed to keep out guests who arrived without a member to escort them. Abeles also said no guests could attend Sunday’s graveside service.
Jefferson family member Lucian K. Truscott IV, who initiated the inclusion of the Hemings relatives and has been their most outspoken supporter, denounced the new rules as a thinly veiled attempt to keep them out. Truscott said he won’t be intimidated from bringing his Hemings guests to the cemetery where his family is buried. As for the cocktail party, he said his group will stick together if turned away, and “have drinks on the front lawn while the white folks in blue blazers will be out back.”
It’s Jefferson’s ideas, not his blood, good god.
It’s a family reunion not a fan club. I heard there were plans of insulting comments that could be made, identifying enemies, rehashing old quarrels, etc. It sounds like some of the Hemings descendants just like dropping the name.
Where’s the proof?
It’s a case of (s)he said, (s)she said.
In any event, it has no bearing on the fact that Obama supporters harass Clinton supporters.
She doesn’t have to give you proof-that’s for the courts or police if she pursues that avenue.
Go to any blog site and read what Obama supporters are saying-it’s difficult to carry on a dialogue.
You made no comment here and I am wondering if you are taking a position because there is a disconnect between earlier comments you have posted and the lack of a comment on this post.
Most who were interested in this story before understand there were differences and animosity between these families. The DNA evidence was inconclusive in one case and, from your post, it seems there was blame on both sides for the confrontation. Two hundred years have passed and an affair between Jefferson and Hemmings is accepted by most historians and if the deception occurred as claimed in the article, it is deplorable, but you need to be clear about what you are saying.
Are you saying the phone calls didn’t happen? Are you making a charge of racism because Paula is not a fan of Obama? Excuse me if I’m wrong, but I had the impression from an earlier comment you were part of a movement(?) which you really didn’t define.
I sincerely ask your pardon if you are offended by my question, but are you guilty of subterfuge? I ask only because it isn’t clear to me exactly what you are trying to say.
Paula,
what this campaign reminds me of is the aftermath of Kobe Bryant’s arrest on rape charges. That young woman left Kobe’s hotel room with a solid ring of black and blue bruises around her neck – it was terrible. And no one comes out of consensual first time sex looking like that – especially when Kobe admitted it’s something he does. But look at how that girl was treated. The constant death threats and the name calling. the harassment of her family and friends. The international ridicule. Oh, the timerity of that bitch!!!!
What is making me sick is that I know Axelrod and Obama were watching that reaction and taking note for political purposes. They went into this campaign seeking to incite that kind of reaction against Clinton and her supporters. Think about the number of death threats against Clinton that we’ve all seen online – it’s disgraceful.
Anyway, you got caught in the middle and since you had the timerity to challenge Obama, you got a dose of it too. I”m sorry you’re going through this. Just know that there are lots of us out there who see what is happening and are objecting.
Ya know, we know, those guys, the press, are batshit, who would expect anything less?
So the system has to change.
Wow, man.
Sojourner Truth, Emma Goldman, Assata Shakur, or Vandana Shiva…Paula, you are right up there with these women. I am so honored to have even read a blog posting full of…such harrowing experiences, that I too will post a blog in honor of your struggle – as soon as I get the laundry in the dryers.
In the meanwhile we should all better under stand the lineage of women in the struggle that Paula is a part of.

Ah, I love me some Sunday morning crazy.
What is crazy about a woman talk honestly about leftist threatening her and using hate speech? She is standing up against an injustice.
She is to be commended.
It was my impression the post I was responding to was snark, look at the screen name.
hey maroon still trollin eh?
anyone looking to Oust Kerry like I am?
here is the latest release from BIG ED OREILLY
O’Reilly fights Kerry Campaign Distortions
U.S. Senate candidate Ed O’Reilly said Friday that his position on Iraq has remained consistent, and that the Kerry campaign is purposely distorting his remarks on Emily Rooneys WGBH Greater Boston Program on June 17. “I am in favor of the total withdrawal of our troops from Iraq and always have been. I am also a firm believer that we need to do so in the safest manner possible. This has not changed, ” O’Reilly wrote in a website posting, today. “The simple truth is that I do not know how long it will take to achieve this goal and I will leave it up to our military leaders to accomplish the task.” Ed wants to begin the process immediately, but acknowledged the minimum time necessary for total withdrawal of troops will take at least 12-18 months. “The role of a political leader is to set a goal and a mission. It is up to the military leaders to accomplish that goal. As one listens and watches the Emily Rooney interview, it is clear this is what I was saying,” O’Reilly said. John Kerry was wrong when he voted for the War in Iraq and he is wrong now when he says he is in favor of a timeline. The simple truth is that John Kerry’s timeline proposes leaving some of our troops in Iraq indefinitely. What kind of timeline is that? Ed asks. As usual, John Kerry wants it both ways. He voted for military action in 2002 and now says it wasnt a vote for military action. Today, John Kerry says he wants a timeline, but his timeline is not really a timeline at all when it comes to having all of our troops home from Iraq. Ed said.

None of them have a clue what they’re doing, there has been simply no group of men and women less intellectually equipped to handle world complexities.
I would say, at this point, even CHENEY is questioning the ability of HIS generals, (as opposed to the REAL generals, the ones who can actually manage, and win, a war.)
Meaning, he doesn’t trust them to defend him, successfully, IMO, his own guys.
If Cheney is STILL this obtuse, in HIS position, Kerry, and Obama, and the rest of that intellectually fat dumpy Chicago crowd, with even less abilty to see, have NO CLUE what is in store for them, in terms of resolving Iraq, while ensuring American, and therefore, their own, survival.
How about Rosa Parks? A heroine who did not seek the spotlight but was thrust into it by unforeseen circumstances.
If Obama had his way, she would have ridden under the bus.
Paula,
Thank you. When Obama loses, he has only himself to blame. He is responsible for the way the campaign has been run and how others have been treated. He could have spoken out at anytime about his supporters’ hateful messages but did nothing.
Together, those of us who will not tolerate racism, sexism and hate speech can hopefully bring dialogue back into politics, and send Obama back to Chicago.
Paula, you are a model on how people need to stand up to injustice.
THANK YOU for speaking for all of us Paul!!
You have been wonderful and the OBOTS are showing what they are with their continual harassment and cyber stalking.
Keep up the awesome work you are doing please, we are with you!!!
/paula
Paula can come do the strut with us when Obama loses big time.
Thank you Paula for standing up instead of sitting down.
Ithe threats have to be one of the hardest things to bear.
You are not alone , millions are with you.
COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS
The attitude or energy that emanates from and pushes the Obama movement forward is not about folks believing in his core goodness. It is a belief, a hope that because of the colour of his skin he is going to do what they would do if they were in his shoes. They believe he is going to put America and White America, in particular, in their place. Other Blacks or any minorities who don’t go along with THAT show will be put in the back of the bus (or under it) with the White Folks.
http://countusout.wordpress.com/2008/06/22/leader-love-lorn-loonies/
Ditto. I hope you keep saying this. It’s important and so true.
When I click on your name link “Paula Abeles” – it shows your email as susanunpc@gmail.com. Are you the same person? I would like to send you an email and I have emailed susanunpc before but I assumed that persons name was Susan obviously. Just want to know who is actually receiving the email. Thanks!
It does get confusing, doesn’t it?
Very hard to keep track.
The only thing that is confusing is how anyone can support Obama with his constantly changing positions.
No, he’s a fraud.
Not difficult at all, once you understand batshit insane.
There is no rational, there’s only crazy.
I was reading about Mugabe, today, and the man is clearly mentally ill, I would say a paranoid schizophrenic, easily, most of those genocidal mass murderers, world leaders, are.
How do you deal with a paranoid schizophrenic, you’re going to REASON with him?
No.
Obama is not THAT ill, BUT, he won’t be reasoned with, he’s not mentally competent, IMO, suffering from a personality disorder, I dont even look at his positions, I look at his actions, as an indicator of his mental health.
Hillary Clinton is sane, her husband, (with the exception of too.much.sex) was, too.
The right wing, and their left wing counterparts?
No.
I remember reading once about an adman for one fo the major ad agencies, kept a piano in his room because it helped him write. Because he was productive, and very creative, the conservative businessmen, at the time, (it was the 60’s,) were tolerant.
Somewhere, men suffering from personality disorders came to be labeled as creative, or brilliant, and were encouraged, and tolerated, much like the spoiled untalented rock stars.
They’re not, they’re simply unremarkable, batshit insane men.
I think we indulge Obama, and the individuals Paula wrote about, in this manner.
I have been saying all along the Obamas are mentally ill and why don’t we have their medical records yet?
Her email address is: spabeles@comcast.net
It is located on a previous thread.
Thank you!
No. Most of us NQ writers use the same email address to keep the savages away. In other words, they can’t reach us or threaten us directly. Their emails land in Susan’s trash bin or maybe the FBI, depending on just how rotten the writer is.
Many contributors to this blog, in order to protect their privacy, write under Susan’s email address. This is not her narrative voice.
here’s info for the Obama trolls who said the only money Obama gets is from his “little internet family”.
Senator Barack Obama spoke to about 600 paying guests at a fundraising reception in downtown Jacksonville, where attendees paid between $500 and $2,300 to Barack Obama for America. The Illinois senator spoke for about twenty minutes to his devotees, and noted the clear choice this November on issues surrounding the economy, health care, the war, [...]
Another smoke and mirrors thing with him. I’m sick of hearing of his $98 contributors. That’s crap. He’s funded in a big way by PACS – it’s just being funneled through various persons to hide the sources.
The man is a hypocrite, a liar and a bigot.
Well Said, thank you!
His kid supporters and their babysitting money of $10 whole dollars is not fueling Hussein Obama. It’s wall street, london bank, big oil companies and on and on including the ‘billionares club’
The question remains who are the ‘folks’ donating under $200. Obama and his campaign are not obligated to report the names and addresses of those donors. Of course-no brainer-supporters of Wright, Farrakan, Ayers..all of them can donate 199. X 50,000 times and we would never know. That is the game..don’t believe for a second the lobbyists aren’t funding him this way. Who is going to check? Doesn’t this sound like what he did to Alice Palmer knowing she didn’t have money to fight him-since he was in Rezko and Ayers’ pockets?
This man is evil. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he and his wife were to do something very wrong and physically damaging to John McCain.
PS The comparison by the NY Times of Mrs. Obama to Mrs Jacqueline Kennedy is frightening. Please read Mrs. Obama’s thesis written under her maiden name of Michele Robinson. It is available on the Politico websight. Frightening that anyone could make any comparison to Mrs Kennedy who was not only brilliant, accomplished and fluent in several languages-well dressed and thin-to Mrs Obama who is militant, aggressive, paid for her services by a political favor to Antoine Rezko and ‘his’ hospital board set up by Barak Obama-unaccomplished and a thief by anyones standards with regard to her home-and overweight in the backside.
Oh, is that a sexist comment or racist? Appears to be the truth!
Paula – I have such deep respect for you. I watched you on Fox News. I was so angry I could not sit down. When you were asked the question How many calls have you received? , I could tell the Fox reporter was expecting to hear just a couple. His jaw dropped when you responded with “around 40 to 50″. There was nothing else the man could say.
There are plenty of us who support you, and will answer your call to arms for whatever support you need or movement you may start. I have watched Obama’s smear campaign from the start, and I never believed in his “fairy tales”. Bill Clinton was right on the money when he made that comment. I was in Texas helping Hillary and saw firtsthand the Obama machine in action to take the caucus. I am very proud to say that the Hillary supporters and the Clinton voters stood up to the Obama bullies and prevailed. Our precinct reported the correct count: 2/3 for Hillary, and 1/3 for Obama. The spirit and enthusiasm of the Hillary delegates selected that day I will never forget. I felt extremely proud that day. I saw democracy in action, and we will see that action again in November. Obama shall be defeated by people like you, me, and those patriotic Clinton voters living their lives quietly day to day.
I did alot of phone banking in TX and everyone was taking whole family’s and excitedly voting for Hillary except one lone Repub for Huckabee. No Obama people..so that should tell you something.
My heart goes out to you and your family Paula. Thank you for speaking out and speaking the truth. You have a lot of support here. We will all help you as we can. These thugs need to be stopped regardless of what it takes.
I wonder how Tavis Smiley is doing?
Keep the faith Paula. Frankly, I just tell them to shove their race card up their butts. It’s what they use to change the subject: Mainly the subject is their dishonest, smarmy, Chicago Thuggish, Pakistani loving, Hamas kissing, sexist, misogynist, racist inept and soul-less duplicitous pandering candidate.
What else do you have but a Race Card when looking at this hoax of a candidate?
But crusty, so of us do not support him; we just hate is enemies more than we hate him.
sosome of us do not spport himShow me who your friends are and I will tell you what you are, Comrade.
Why hate his enemies?
Absolutely. Paula, I can only imagine how difficult this has been for you and your family. Who would have ever thought that it would take tremendous courage to support a mainstream political candidate without fear of reprisal?!?! This election season has been a first – even including the Bush v. Gore debacle. But you have continued to conduct yourself with grace and class, two characteristics sorely missing on the other side.
However we can help you, whatever we can do to support and sustain you during this time, we are here for you. Thank YOU for being there for us…
I was told by an Obama blogger to “Go back to W.V to my trailor trash daddy/husband and where all my cousin/sisters lived.”
This is just a tiny example of the many insults that have been thrown at Hillary supporters.
I am not from nor do I live in WV but I salute those fine people, who from the start had Obama figured out.
I do have relatives in Ky. and the insults to Kentuckians have also been very degrading.
I am praying that all Hillary supporters will stand together and send a clear, loud message to the DNC and Obama campaign in NOV. …NO WE WON’T UNITE.
PUMA supporter
Did that bother you?
I would look at that as uncreative kook speak.
I would call it racist and classist.
Thank you so very much Paula!!!
Country Before Party!
Of course, racism does not exist :
Washington Post
Not really indicative of anything…
It is so. It’s indicative of an increase in membership since he nominated himself on June 3. Are you playing devils advocate here?
The rise in racist activity was predictable even without Obama playing the race card. He’s only made it worse by fanning the flames.
Of course racism exists. The Obama campaign practices it constantly.
lol*……the funniest poll is out saying 3 out of 10 voters say race is important.
After this year, I wondered how many were AA.
Of course race mattered to them.
Why is Obama afraid to debate John McCain?
But he has a new seal.
http://www.ecivic.us/estimate/ofa.jpg
I was comparing it to the real seal, today, and Obama’s is nothing more than the Chevron cartoon car.
http://www.chevron.ca/images/chevron_cars.jpg
I knew it looked familiar…
lol.
It was designed by the guys who do “South Park.”
The best thing for those of us who hate what has happened to poor Paula is to get on school buses and head out to neighborhoods where we believe Obama supporters
livesmoke and sell cracklive and educate them to what a snake he is! Who’s with me? I’ll be the first to be the Harlem ambassador to help usher in this educational door-to-door campaign. I will even act as an interpretor. The problem is you will not be going to Harlem. It is the hopey dopey crack smokin rich white kids in the suburbs that have their heads stuck in the wrong end of the pipe.
Ah, we only take smart people, not washed up, kook crazy trolls.
Sorry.
I believe it’s snark…
Yup..a waste of time since these pipe smokers don’t care about anything but skin color.
Sorry this is off topic but does anyone know if this is true? Received in e-mail:
CAN OBAMA BE PRESIDENT?
It seems that Barack Obama is not qualified to be president after all for the following reason:
Barack Obama is not legally a U.S. natural-born citizen according to the law on the books at the time of his birth, which falls between “December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986? Presidential office requires a natural-born citizen if the child was not born to two U.S. citizen parents, which of course is what exempts John McCain though he was born in the Panama Canal US Law very clearly stipulates: “If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.”
Barack Obama’s father was not a U.S. citizen and Obama’s mother was only 18 when Obama was born, which means though she had been a U.S. citizen for 10 years, (or citizen perhaps because of Hawaii being a territory) the mother fails the test for being so for at least 5 years **prior to** Barack Obama’s birth, but *after* age 16. It doesn’t matter *after* . In essence, she was not old enough to qualify her son for automatic U.S. citizenship. At most, there were only 2 years elapsed since his mother turned 16 at the time of Barack Obama’s birth when she was 18 in Hawaii. His mother would have needed to have been 16+5= 21 years old, at the time of Barack Obama’s birth for him to have been a natural-born citizen.
As aforementioned, she was a young college student at the time and was not. Barack Obama was already 3 years old at that time his mother would have needed to have waited to have him as the only U.S. Citizen parent. Obama instead should have been naturalized, but even then, that would still disqualify him from holding the office.
*** Naturalized citizens are ineligible to hold the office of President. *** Though Barack Obama was sent back to Hawaii at age 10, all the other info does not matter because his mother is the one who needed to have been a U.S. citizen for 10 years prior to his birth on August 4, 1961, with 5 of those years being after age 16.
Further, Obama may have had to have remained in the country for some time to protect any citizenship he would have had, rather than living in Indonesia. Now you can see why Obama’s aides stopped his speech about how we technically have more than 50 states, because it would have led to this discovery. This is very clear cut and a blaring violation of U.S. election law.
I think the Gov. of California would be very interested in knowing this if Obama were elected President without being a natural-born U.S. citizen, and it would set precedence. Stay tuned to your TV sets because I suspect some of this information will be leaking through over the next several days.
John McCain is a citizen because he was born to parents in the service. That was at issue back in FEB. The barracks are US Territory thus he be a citizen.
Paula:
All I can say I would wish that all the American media would pay attention and not hide as they seem to be doing. They, unlike you, are cowards and by the very basis of that fact they are not “American” journalists in the true sense of the word. Courage, fidelity and truth in reporting the facts.
Everyone should remember and/or read of the beginning of the Nazis regime in Germany. Let’s not make it another beginning of a hate regime… All should be concerned, not just Hilary Clinton supporters but also the McCain supporters and, yes, those Obama supporters who care about this country and all who live in her.
Wow. Thank you.
And thank you for such a detailed history of your work and efforts and desire to be very open, but you know, this really is merely coincidental that you have something they (Camp B O and followers)can twist to some sort of their continuous race playing, they normally just make it up regardless.
Be well.
Hang in there Paula. You have a lot of courage to speak the truth. You are a true patriot. There are lots of us out there applauding what you are doing.
It would not surprise me in the least to see something akin to the Brown Shirts of the 30’s make a comeback. When Obama surrounds himself with members of the Louis Farrakhan movement with their bow ties and wraparound sunglasses, I personally feel a creepy aversion.
Nothing will surprise me going forward. This man should get nowhere near the Oval Office. Attacks, threats and muggery have become part of his so called “unity” campaign. When he says words mean something, I have a pretty good idea he means it.
Stay Strong Paula
http://www.obama-wire.com
I’ve decided that the issue of personal attacks is linked to generations.
Many of us who are a bit older got into the computer stuff later.
We entered naive.
I’ve been on-line since before there was Javascript. Back then, we sent our messages to a central server, and it spit them back out. It was funny how the order went.
I’m presuming I’m pretty “seasoned” as to on-line stuff. But I recall my real life friends thinking it was just “awful” that I was on-line.
Today, they are on-line.
I was just a bit ahead of my time.
Anyway, threats are common on the internet. Obviously, even me, people like the internet because we can loosen up and speak our worst thoughts and our best thoughts.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this. I don’t take internet snark remarks to heart.
Why should I? I don’t even know the person. They have no power over me.
I think when it crosses the line is when stalking in real life happens.
Being so obsessed that you find the phone number of relatives and call them threatening…
Sorry, that’s insane behavior. The person is a nutcase. They may or may not be dangerous, but they definitely need medical attention.
Thanks Paula. We’re all behind you!
No one should use name-calling as an approach.
So I’m sure everyone here will pledge to not call Obama and Obama supporters any names.
Right?
There is a five part video series “How to talk to an Obama Cultist” done by a young black man and available for viewing on http://www.v4hill.com. He really nails it! I recommend checking it out!
At last, a real “stop the smear” article, one that I can believe in. Ms. Abeles, thank you for your powerful personal testimony. We have all witnessed the nastiness, the name calling and the ridicule hurled at Hillary and ourselves for standing with her. Is there anything you can do to get the FBI to help you put an end to the personal harassment you suffer? Your worth as a citizen is no less than that of anyone else. Any evidence of electronic crimes against you or your site should be brought to the attention of the FBI. The have a special division set up for that. Forgive me if I sound naive about this matter … I just want to extend support. You may not see us, but you stand with millions.
Paula – that is an amazing find – I only wish it had been written simply and concisely – too much repetition. Maybe that is a good thing of course – but if the UK papers are to pay attention… well you know… specifics and back ups from the US consitution to be included when sending it.
Incidentally, John McCain was born on a US base in the Panama Canal – that also made the difference besides both his parents being US citizens of course.
Here’s some more unity talk from the Obama crowd.
Cannonfire (blog) reports that the following post was found on Obama’s own blog. The poster is talking about Hillary Clinton.
“Just slit her throat, lock her in a car boot, and drive the car into river in West Virginia.
Ain’t gonna let no whore screw with the man.”
Click this link and read all of the other hate notes that have been posted on pro-Obama blogs. These people should’ve been turned over to the Secret Service.
http://cannonfire.blogspot.com/2008/06/why-we-cant-get-over-it-threats-from.html
I have no problem at all pointing out that it’s actually obama who is the racist. He sat in that church for 20 years while periodic anti-white preachers slammed white people. He didn’t say anything. He allowed his children to be indoctrinated with those anti-white beliefs. obama is a racist. That’s the fact and there’s no doubt about it. He’s not qualified to be President and will not receive my vote.
Imagine a white politician who had been attending a church for 20 years where the preachers periodically slammed black people – would they be a Presidential candidate now? No damn way.
One day, maybe the democratic party will offer a candidate who is qualified and is a person of integrity but it isn’t this year. obama is a racist.
Paula,
Thank you for standing up. You are an inspiration to many.
Our country is at stake for this fraud.
The third way has been lost. Maybe in 2012 we can recapture it.
What has happened in our party has been going on for sometime. You are seeing it now.
John McCain is the answer.
We don’t need a despot.
Thank you, Paula, for speaking out, for your courage. Take care of yourself.
My life was threatened about two months ago for having a Hillary bumper sticker on my car. It is certainly frightening and it is disheartening to know that our rights are being taken away little by little. In the large Southern city in which I live, speaking out in opposition to Obama is not safe.
PUMA
File a complaint with the FBI. Anyone who gets a personal threat shoud do so. When those threats add up, it will look mighty bad. Document with any evidence, make copies of your documents and file an official complaint.
“Never listen to anyone who says you can’t or shouldn’t go on!”
— Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, June 7th, 2008, Washington, D.C.
As reported on ABC News….Obama still wears his misogyny on his sleeve……
According to Rep. Yvette Clarke, D-N.Y., Obama then said, “However, I need to make a decision in the next few months as to how I manage that since I’m running against John McCain, which takes a lot of time. If women take a moment to realize that on every issue important to women, John McCain is not in their corner, that would help them get over it.”
Rep. Diane Watson, D-Calif., a longtime Clinton supporter, did not like those last three words — “Get over it.” She found them dismissive, off-putting.
“Don’t use that terminology,” Watson told Obama.
Women should carefully consider cutting the DNC leash. For decades, the DNC has made us believe that the only “choice” we had on “pro choice” was to get in step with them. We need to break their monopoly on this issue or it will be the death of us. Even if they “let” us elect a woman as POTUS one day, you can be sure it will be “their woman.” Enough.
I am cutting the leash…I will remain affiliated with the Democratic party just long enough to cast my vote for John McCain on Nov. 4th, so Dean, Pelosi and Donna B. can see just how many of they have lost.
Yes, I have been thinking about this alot lately and it rings so true. That’s why it is so important for us to take a stand this election and not go along with the DNC. Through this action we will make women a voting bloc that both parties will need to listen to and accomadate. Knowing we have the power to sway an election and knowing, no more, will we be like sheep voting only for one party. We must take our voice and power back. No more fear!
Already did that.
The statistics tell the tale. McCain has his base. Obama has his. And then there’s the swing voters.
Women are 50% of the swing voters.
So Obama may decide to just move on. It’s OK with me. Frankly, there is nothing he can say that makes any difference. He’s giving lip service to Dem. women now, slipping in threats every third comment that gets published. Carrot and stick?
I’m pretty much insulted by that strategy. But I also am not moved by any of his nice noises, either.
There is nothing he can say. This is a case where his actions spoke louder than all the words he could cough up now.
So I’d recommend he move on after a decent burial, and just not count on voters like me. Go after the men in that swing vote male.
Glad you are taking a stand Paula. You are speaking for millions of us. Yes, I have noticed the reverse discrimination and I am so sick of it, I could puke. The presumptive nominee is already in Florida telling people the Republicans will make you fear him because he is “black”. Makes me so sick. People are really fed up with this talk especially coming from someone who sat in a racist church for 20 years and seems to be unhappy about having a white mother. I would suggest intensive therapy for the IL. Senator, might do him some good. I definitely will not be voting for someone with such deep seated identity issues. Senator Mccain may not be perfect but he is a much better choice for our country.
Continue the fight Paula and know there are millions of us who support you.
Thank you Paula for your tremendous courage under fire. I’m sure that your compelling and frightening story is only the tip of the iceberg. We must be ever more vigilant and work even harder to ensure that Barak Hussein Obama does not become President of our great country.
Anyone read this from CBS this morning? Lovely article. Says we’re not feminist. We’re insane. She goes on to praise Obama for women’s rights and tell us how horrible McCain is. Problem is he has only one vote for women’s rights. The one in the middle of the primary that Reid held up the voting for and told him to get back and vote. The rest are all present votes. His votes are against protecting our children/grandchildren. This is voting for women? Our children?
S1348 Obama No
This bill would have prohibited undocumented immigrants convicted of aggravated felonies, domestic violence, stalking, crimes against children, or crimes relating to illegal purchase of firearms from gaining legal status in this county.
or this?
SB 485 Obama voted No
This bill gave no offer of good time for sex offenders, they had to serve their sentence.
There is much more. Like his vote against restricting were porn palaces can set up shop. Using software to protect our children from predatory websites in schools. Both he voted against. None of these were part of his 6 I pushed the wrong button votes either. Or his 130 Present votes.
Quote~written by Katha Pollitt.
Are there feminist Hillary Clinton supporters who hate Barack Obama so much they’ll vote for John McCain just to show the Democratic Party how ticked off they are? Yes, and I get e-mails from all five of them.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/06/20/opinion/main4198848.shtml
I think one of the Puma sites has gotten it. There are few comments up from Hillary supporters.
What is Katha Pollitt email address? I would like to email her and make that number 6. Who wants to be 7, 8, 9, 10 etc……?
I’m sorry that second one should have said county jails. I just get so angry especially when it comes to women and they refer to themselves or other women as a feminist on one issue alone. “Abortion”. It is so much more than one issue. I personally have a very hard time with late term abortion unless a mother’s life is in danger. Or we know the infant will not make it, or has serious medical problems. Does that make me any less of a woman/a feminist?
No it doesn’t. I don’t understand this “NEW” feminism. Being a feminist is exactly that. It is fighting for that right/ The right to choose what I believe. It is fighting for not only all my rights, but for others. Not just “ONE” right. It’s not about being some sort of Borg society. It is fighting for those that are unable to speak or fight for themselves.(ours and other’s children/grandchildren)It is fighting for the rights of all those we leave behind so they’ll not only have those rights. Those rights will be protected. It is speaking out against all the wrongs in the world, not just in our own little world that should be made right. Starvation, medical care, education, rape, spousal abuse, child molestion, the environment, animal rights. The rights for women around the world to be treated with common decency, as human beings. And so on. We are the women, the mothers, the grandmothers. So much more than one issue…
I have always found white middle-class feminists did more to promote misogyny than to remedy real-world problems.
Minority “feminists” had [what I thought was] a fine grasp of the issues and sense of mission. They operated from the implicit premise that that women’s problems have their origins in the male pecking order. Low-ranking men (or those of any rank having attacks of status anxiety) crap on those who have less power than they, and the crapees pass it along, — to other men, women, children and/or dogs.
It may not be possible to modify these hard-wired behaviors, but at least their analysis identified it as a human problem. Their approach was inclusive, rather than the sectarian/exclusive grievance-nursing, scab-picking, retrospective kvetchfests of their white counterparts.
Katha Pollitt is representative.
bad sentence, but won’t revise – got carried away by my own retrospective kvetchfest.
What I am most appalled about is it seems to me that the media is soft on Obama issues that make major statements about who Obama is. It seems to me Obama makes a mistake the media slaps his hand a few times, and then say their sorry and that it’s ok that he did a no-no and told a lie because he’s so popular the people will forgive him and it won’t affect his campaign. So in my opinion the viewers are saying well if the media is giving Obama a pass it’s ok.
There is never a time when it is ok to lye to get what you want and he’s teaching the wrong message to our children.
People may not mind if you change your mind if it is for a good cause but they do care if you lie about why you’re changing your position. Obama is not only changing his position but he’s blaming someone else and saying the system is broken. Obama never takes accountability for his decisions. I can not wait until everyone understands that he is also changing his position on bring the troops home from Iraq.
Obama is blaming McCain for the levees not holding because he didn’t vote for the bill that would repair bridges and levees. However the bill was passed but the levees were never reinforced. So how is McCain not voting for a bill that was eventually passed responsible for the work not being completed? The media should be investigating what happened to the money and why the work was never started. Now that would be an interesting news story.
I forgot to say in my comment upthread, that athe threats against you are vile. This kind of behavior is among the reasons why I will never vote for Obuma.
paula abele -
you are fighting this in the very best way – making everything public.
you and your family especially,
but indeed, all of us,
are dealing with obama campaign bullies.
the best way to deal with a bully is to go straight for him.
i’m sorry that you and your family have been subjected to this calculated POLITICAL TERRORISM,
but glad to see that you have the courage and determination to fight back.
on the jefferson/hemmings matter, please keep in mind that a common republican political tactic, now adopted by the obama team, is to publicly misrepresent some behavior or another of an opponent as “bad” behavior, and then publicly pillory them for it.
focusing on john kerry’s youthful opposition to the vietnam war was a premier example of this sort of political propaganda.
kerry did not fight back in an in-your-face-manner; as a consequence, he lost the battle AND the war.
and i would add this,
the target of this obama team effort is not just you,
the larger target is anyone else who dares to challenge the obama team for democratic votes.
you story is intended as a cautionary tale others who might follow in your footsteps will hear and tell each other – and then decide to lay low for fear of attracting attention from obama team brownshirts.
as whether the harassment you have experienced is an effort of the obama team, it is entirely reasonable to assume it WAS, given the timing of the attack on you – 48 hours after your group’s actions.
Hilary has endorsed Obama. SHE is a patriot and a loyal Democrat.
The people here who can stomach voting for John McCain
are saying a LOT about their intelligence and their perception of what is GOOD for America.
Don`t cloak your benighted ignorance in patriotism and don`t tell us about how you WERE such “loyal Democrats.”
Your actions speak for themselves. The world has moved on without you.
You are

Bush will not be receiving his John McCain third term.
Paulie:
Good for you. I’m sorry you are experiencing…doorstep terror by the hands of the Obama followers.
We’ve all been abused by them in some way online and even in the media…
Here’s the usual:
Racist
Bigot
Hater or (Filled with hatred.)
Bitch
Republican
Paid Republican
Uneducated
Inbred (Though, usually they spell it “imbred.”)
Etc. That’s pretty much the crux of their posts.
–Keep speaking out! Just like those brave superdelegates who told the media that their lives were being threatened because they supported Hillary.
I can’t wait until after January 20, 2009 to hear what will most likely start coming out of the Obama white house. I think it will be music to most American’s ears.
Thank you, Paula. You have my thanks and admiration.
Thank you Paula for speaking out so effectively. You are speaking for millions.
IMO, it has become apparent that Obama endorses violence, especially violence against women. He has said nothing to discourage these attacks by his supporters which have been going on for months. He also made the bizarre statement that “if they bring a knife, I’ll bring a gun.” Once again it is his actions that tell us exactly the kind of person he is and the kind of President he would be. If the same actions and attacks had been directed at him, there would already be arrests and major denouncements by the Party bosses.
We know that his supporters Donna Brazil (”there will be blood”), Jesse Jackson, Jr. (see** below)
and Mayor of Richmond, VA, Doug Wilder (”there would be riots worse than 1968″) threatened the Democratic Party that the Convention would turn violent if Obama did not receive the nominatinon. The implication from their statements is that African Americans would riot. What does that say about African Americans? Many are insulted by the sterotypical image portrayed of them by these Obama surrogates. It seems that by their words, spoken on national television, they are actually encouraging violent behavior.
What does it say about our Party that it does not stand up against these violent threats? I’ve seen nothing from any of the Party “leaders” on this. I’ve sadly realized during this past year that they don’t really stand for anything except money. Consequently, people are leaving the Democratic Party in droves.
What does it say about organizations like the Washington Post and NBC news that appear to be condoning this outrageous and illegal behavior by their silence and continued cheerleading and strategizing for Obama?
It appears the corporate media has decided to defer to the internet to report on the real news. They are all about money and ratings.
Obama has proven that he is far from the unifying candidate portrayed by the marketing propaganda of his campaign. He continues to divide this party and this country by his and his supporters’ attacks and actions.
**On August 1, 2007, Jesse Jackson Jr. got into a verbal disagreement with Rep. Lee Terry, a Republican from Nebraska on the House floor. Jackson then spoke profanities and challenged Terry to step outside, presumably for a physical fight. Steve Rothman helped avoid escalation to actual physical confrontation. Jackson says Terry was the instigator. Terry says Jackson was at fault, but the two shook hands the next day and agreed to move forward in the interest of their constituents. However, a week later an unidentified man who claimed to be a Jackson relative walked into Terry’s Omaha office saying he was Jackson’s hitman who had come to beat up Terry, which led to FBI involvement. Although the story was covered in the Washington Post, and Omaha World-Herald, neither the Chicago Tribune nor the Chicago Sun-Times covered any part of the story.
Here is a good summary of the Obama thugs’ actions:
Is this what America needs?

I’m proud of you Paula. You really are a true American.
Paula – I’m awed that you are taking a public stand with these threats, and what the news never seems to cover is these are not isolated incidences by Obama supporters:
–physical intimidation at caucuses by Obama people against Clinton voters
–physical intimidation of Clinton’s surrogates who are elected officials – especially those who are African America
–psychological intimidation, revealing Clinton supporters’ identities online by the Obama supporting bloggers
I just read that Moveon.org sent memo/letter “demanding” that Obama filibuster, via Senator Dodd, the FISA bill that includes immunity for the telecommunications companies.
Obama “stopped short” of promising that he would.
Ha ha, I’m shocked!
Can’t wait for Moveon.org to get ticked!
I’m sorry for what you’re going through, Paula. I read about you at Riverdaughter. Thanks for all the work you’ve done, and know that we are standing with you.
http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/
Riverdaugher wrote a piece about Paula – they canvassed together and there never was any indication of any racism.
Paula,
I’m proud of you, too and root, pray for you and your safety.
Hillary Supporters – To help retire Senator Clinton’s primary debt, I just spent ~$100 at the Hillary Store. Some things have sold out, so may be a good time to stock up, and help retire the debt. It may not be consigned to the dust bin of “campaign memorabilia” yet…
Pray the Hillary campaign will have cause to re-stock the store “big time” before Denver, and finally announce the winner of the T-shirt contest. If Obama’s campaign sputters or worse by August, this is entirely conceivable, I believe. Hillary may unsuspend her campaign, our campaign, and have a larger selection at the store to boot!
Shocker Kristol: Bush Might Bomb Iran If He Thinks Obama Will Win
http://countusout.wordpress.com/
fred
Bush will bomb Iran and it does not matter who is to be elected. Obama has no idea what is coming.
Paula,
Thank you for speaking out so convincingly. I am appalled by the threats you have received, and hope you have contacted authorities to document them and help keep your family safe.
I do not know enough about the Jefferson situation to have an opinion, but fear it will continue to be brought up in personal attacks. I sincerely hope your reservations about including some individuals were not based on race.
What should cause everyone concern, is that rather than adequately address the concerns you’ve brought up with respect to Senator Obama, his supporters chose to attack you instead. This bullying mentality should be disturbing to all. The message they are sending loud and clear is that they will attack anyone who dares to speak out.
Time and time again, anyone who voices concerns about Senator Obama is marginalized, labeled a racists or discredited in some other manner. Is this truly a new type of politics we should be willing to embrace?
I’ve noticed some comments suggesting that you not speak out any longer because of your connection to the Jefferson family controversies, and my response is that no one should have their voice silenced. I’m sure there are those that could find an excuse to silence just about anyone expressing concerns about Senator Obama. Although it needs to made clear that the groups speaking out against Obama are not voicing concerns based on a hidden racist agenda, I suggest that no one give in to the bullying.
Senator Obama claims to be a uniter, however, it should be obvious to anyone that if he can’t unite the Democratic Party and if he can’t inspire better behavior among his supporters, he will surely not be able to unite or change this country in a positive manner. His campaign’s idea of unity appears to require that anyone with a dissenting opinion be intimidated and silenced.
I love it when hard core racists write a 38493849842343898 word rant such as this one justifying their sick, vitriolic hatred of black people such as this diarist did.
What next? Your best friend is black?
What you did was wrong. Ugly. Pathetic and racist to the core.
But keep writing hypocritical sick rants such as this p.o.s. having the gall to suggest you’re the target of violence. You are sick.
Ahh, the racist card. It’s getting a little dog-eared by now. Obama is simply not qualified to lead this country. Color is irrelevant. He’s not equipped for the job. He’s a fad.
To see a truly racist rant, check out Rev. Wright’s sermons (to mention only one of Obama’s racist associates). Now there’s some sick drivel.
You don’t speak for us Jon. You are the racist. Is that all you can do it project? If you knew how sick your candidate is you’d get past the racist thing and realize there are a ton of reasons people do not want this sick individual as president. Get over yourself.
What a gutsy woman. It’s not easy to put yourself in the public, but Paulie has done this with a lot of dignity. As well spoken as she is, I hope that Paulie continues to speak out, and I hope that all of us can speak out to our friends, families, and neighbors about the horrible tactics of the Obama campaign. Obama is advocating a type of change that this country doesn’t need.
Never Obama. We need to disregard the polls, stop all DNC donations, and keep fighting to keep this incompetent, arrogant nitwit from the presidency. Wake up, obots. There is a lot at stake here.
The MSM are, as usual, inflating his poll percentages while they vastly underestimate the mass of Dems who will NEVER vote for BO. It appears that the rock star has lost his glitter with nearly all demographics.
Thank you for the article, Paula.
Paula,
Thank you for taking a stand for decency and the right to express your opinon in this country. I can’t tell you how many African Americans, saw my “Hillary Clinton” button at the Texas Democratic Convention. They also sported Hillary gear and with tears in their eyes, they hugged me, and said how sorry and appalled they were that Obama had robbed them of their chosen candidate. To me this was the saddest moment of all.
Paula, there will be blow-back from this. I hope you’re prepared.
The Thomas Jefferson affair is a large stick to beat you with – politically speaking. I disagree with your view that Jefferson could not have fathered Sally’s children. He took her to Paris with him did he not? White slave masters have a history of sleeping with their female slaves. I’m a product of that on my mother’s side. To deny that is to deny history.
That said, what you did does not warrant death threats against you and your family. If any other candidate’s followers behaved this way – Republican or Democrat – the news media would be howling. Instead we get silence.
Obama is lying to the media and denying them access yet they still love him.
They refuse to report about death threats received by anyone who doesn’t support Obama. Not all of these people are Hillary supporters.
I’ve decided to go 3rd party. I’ve had enough.
Paula,
You gotta friend(s),thank you for your courage,we’ve got your back!
Hi Pauline
I’m a conservative and was always going to vote in November for the Republican candidate. I have been criticizing John McCain liberalism for years. I loath his positions on immigration for example
But I will vote for him in November
He is the most liberal Republican candidate you could get. We must both vote McCain and keep this reckless arrogant punk Obama out of the White House
****Who knows? Obama can still flame out and you will have your Hillary vs McCain match up
D
watch out for the guys with the bowties, Donald Young, deceased choir director of Trinity United Church of Christ,(he was openly gay) paid the ultimate price for threatening to speak up regarding Obama”s escapades!
Paula,
You are a model citizen representative of middle America and do not deserve those fear tactics for setting up a conference call.
Some of us were hit with McCarthyism in the beginning. We had no where to turn and no one to tell before most of these blogs were started or known.
I commend you for speaking up and not staying silent.
This is the key. We cannot stay silent. We need more people to come forward and say what threats they received and the hijacking of phone lines and browsers. (which is why Obummer voted retroactive for fisa-it protects him too)
Hang tight and let others come out and speak up now. You’ve done your part.
This dog won’t hunt. The facts don’t support it.
Pee Ess–Being a Triple Eagle means nothing outside of Boston. Just like saying Fr. Leahy came to my grandmother’s funeral–unless you’re from Boston it doesn’t mean anything.
Exactly! N of I? And the other 2 gay guys who met the same fate. Rev Wrong knows about it which is why he was shut up too.
Have you seen the threat someone got that said ” We have killed for lesser things than you are doing? So shut up”
You get past it and keep on keeping on.
Sometime you lay low and let Barky dig his own so-called grave. He seems to do a great job of it.
When you get used to the fact of who they are you act accordingly.
This fear and hatemongering is a preview of what it will be like if phonyO is at the helm. Staying home or doing a write in will not stop him. If not Hillary then people MUST vote McCain to stop Ocrudman.
This is typical of the obama camp and supporters. Look what they have done to Tavis Smiley. Stand strong and fear no one. I have had to do the same in the town I live in. I agree with one thing. No MONEY to OBAMA, THE DNC, OPRAH OR ANY PRODUCTS THAT SHE ENDORSES. THE MEDIA AND ADVERTISERS ON CNN, MSNBC ETC. We have the power, we just need to use it correctly. We Clinton supporters kept telling Hillary..”rise Hillary rise”. That is exactly what we need to do. We will rise above the hate and the threats. We will go to the convention. It is not all about race. It is about not falling in line for the chosen one. UGLY has no color…it is just UGLY.
PUMA X DEM
Was Tavis Smiley’s life threatened?
Could that be the case with the Dems and DNC who are backing BHO? Like POOPosi et al?
Just wondering.
If you guys are sick of being called racists, don’t let one speak for you. I don’t pretend to have all the facts about Jefferson’s lineage- that’s not important here. What’s important is Paula’s MOTIVATION in trying to prove Jefferson does not have black descendents. If your skin (whatever its color) doesn’t crawl a little bit when you think about that there’s something wrong with this picture.
Here’s how it sounds people: The woman who denied black people’s claims to be descendants of a president…. now works to deny a black person the oval office. that’s how it looks. like a pattern.
Let Pauline speak for you and the conversation will not be a about what the DNC did or who is equipped to be president.
Let Pauline speak for you and the debate will be about some ugly business that you will lose all credibility trying to defend.
Agree. It’s disappointing.
baracknophobia, from Paula’s piece these particular descendants of Hemmings are considered WHITE. The only question appears to be whether their ancestor was fathered by an old Jefferson who had prostate cancer at that time, or by another white relative of Jefferson’s. It is interesting that descendants of another of Hemmings’ children do not have a genetic identity with Jefferson. I fail to see the connection between Jefferson’s descendants being selective in who falls in the lineage of their illustrious ancestor and an individual who feels, like many do, that Obama is not the best qualified candidate for being President.
It is this notion that anyone not in blind adulation for he-who-is-the-one-we’ve-been-waiting-for is a racist that, ironically, underscores the deep racism practiced by the Obama campaign. Here’s a candidate who associated himself for much of his adult life with a church whose preacher preached racial hatred from the pews, and whose congregation danced and celebrated the vitriol being spewed. And his detractors are being racist? Only in the Orwellian sense!
Excuse me, but what is your position that you have the right to call someone a racist or that you are able to know someone’s motivation?
You need to take a step back and read your own comment. We are Democrats (or were)and we joined the Party because we believe in it’s platform and the principles it represents( or did until recently ).
The Democratic Party is being torn apart by charges of racism and it’s a mindless reaction to anyone who disagrees. This is a quote from Rep. John Lewis in Jan. of this year on News Hour. Please take the time to read it.
REP. JOHN LEWIS (D), Georgia: Judy, I knew Martin Luther King, Jr. I marched with him. I worked with him. He played a major role in inspiring people, giving people hope.
I also knew Lyndon Johnson. I was there with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on March 15, 1965, when we watched Lyndon Johnson deliver his speech in response to what was happening in Selma, when he said, “And we shall overcome.”
I looked at Dr. King. He looked at me, and tears came down his eyes. And he said, “We will get the civil rights bill, the voting rights bill passed. We will march from Selma to Montgomery.”
I think there’s been a deliberate, systematic attempt on the part of some people in the Obama camp to really fan the flame of race and really try to distort what Senator Clinton said. I understand and I think most right-thinking people understood what she said.REP. JOHN LEWIS: Let me say, Judy, President Clinton and Senator Clinton have a long record of working to bring people together. Long before President Clinton ever dreamed of running for president, long before Senator Clinton ever dreamed of running for president, they have a history, a very, very long history.
And no right-thinking, informed American would ever believe that President Clinton or Mrs. Clinton would do anything to use the race card
Martin Luther King, Jr., created the climate, created the environment, but it took a Lyndon Johnson to get the legislation through the Congress.
I have to say that I admire the activism and organization exhibited by so many of Hillary’s supporters.
I don’t see anything as quick, agile a nd organic on the conservative side.
I greatly respect your courage and integrity.
Thank you, Paula!
Standing up for what is just is never easy. In the end, acting out of your principles matter more than words.
Paula keep fighting. we are behind you!
A bit off topic but this needs some light on it.
Last week Obarky went to the middle east to visit with Hezbelloh and Hamas. Isreal took a fit. Condi Rice had to go to Isreal to calm them down. Anyone have the details on this? Yahoo news reported a quick news clip of it.
Obarky isn’t even the nominee yet and he is creating problems. He has displayed such impatience suring the primaries that it is another factor to his long list of incompetency.
Anyone know about his story from last week?
Lou: I know people in Israel I can check with.. are you saying Obama went to the Middle East last week? (I’m not sure who Obarky is)
I am opposed to Obama as much as anyone here, but he did not go to the Middle East. I have rational reasons for opposing him and don’t think we should just be inventing things. Is this person Lou a troll?
Obama spoke to the Israeli lobbying group AIPAC here in the United States. It is best to try to retain some credibility, don’t you think? Or are you trying to make us appear to be a bunch of nut jobs?
Vince, Obary is barky or Obama..barly after he talks alot..his bark is bigger than his bite..Obama went to visit Hezbelloh and Hamas and it upset the leaders in Isreal so much that Condi had to fly there to reassure them we had not abandoned them. I read it in the news.
I guess this means our choice in November is between Barky and Blinky?
I’m not sure whether to flip a coin or throw a dart blindfolded.
Paula -
I’m impressed. Thank you for sharing your side of the Jefferson/Hemings issue. To date, I’d only read the other side — the one that indicated you were “racist.”
While I will not vote for John McCain, I understand the need to explore alternatives to Obama and encourage you to do so WITHOUT fear. If there comes a viable alternative before November 2008, I might be convinced. Until then, I will hold by nose and vote for Obama.
That’s sad, because the 2008 election cycle held so much promise until the DNC, the corporate media, and Obama’s more fanatical supporters basically messed it up, and Obama himself sat back and took the spoils.
Accusations of racism are all over the place here.
The only racism I care about is Obama’s and Michelle’s and exhibit A is them attending a racist church for 20 years
They would still be going there except for the Wright and Father Pfluger blow ups.
On the videos it’s just amazing how the congregation whooped it and cheered for Wright and Pflugers demented drivel
Those vicious attacks against you are just so…Bushy, aren’t they?
Each and every day, the DNC looks more like the RNC.
I feel bad about leaving the party, but when I see crap like this, I feel a bit less bad…
Ms. Abeles, thank you for standing up for what you believe in and voicing your protest on behalf of all of us. You made a compelling case on Cavuto for why Obama should not have been the nominee. People don’t seem to get it — it is not about just Clinton but about the party and how it has conducted this primary to select the nominee subverting the democratic process. They should be taught a lesson and who else would do that but us. We want to win the good old fashioned way with real qualifications and principles and convictions.
In her post above, Paulie Abeles said, “During 2003, a member of the Jefferson family set up a Yahoo chat room for family members and Hemings descendants to discuss the issues. Unfortunately, discussions became strained and many individuals who disagreed that Thomas Jefferson fathered Eston Hemings were barred from the site. Bloggers from both sides used assumed names to try to get information from the other side.”
I cannot imagine what universe Paulie Ableles lives in. The webmaster for the family chatroom Paulie mentions did himself hold “opposing” views…that is, he held doubts that Jefferson was the father of Sally Hemings’ children. It was sometime later, after listening and learning and doing research on his own, that he came to the conclusion that Jefferson did indeed father Ms. Hemings’ children. So to say that the site barred people with opposing views is ludicrous, given that the site was founded by someone who entertained those “opposing views.” Moreover, no one on the site ever used or uses a pseudonym, and in fact, being upfront about one’s identity and family connection is a condition of participation. It never occurred to us that anyone would lie about their identity. Ms. Abeles abused our trust when she fabricated her identity in order to spy.
As a participant of the Monticello family group, I know of no one from the site who used Ms. Abeles’ tactics to gain admission to any sites from “the other side,” to use her words. I know of no one who would be in the least interested in such sites. If indeed someone did submit false credentials to sites she frequented, perhaps she can tell us who they were.
Dear Paulie,
Sorry for the bad rap. At times like this one wonders if any of those “kindly” souls ever stop to think how they would react if, much like yourself, they were made to feel the unthinkable. Yeah, that their lives (and those of their loved ones) may be put by few idiots in some sort of unimaginable danger simply because they opt to exercise their right to speak up for their beloved BO (or lean towards… or campaign for… or actually prefer because… or, whatever…)
Obviously some have no desire to put themselves on other’s shoes—a simple exercise in humility that can garner quite the vision into one’s own soul. But, then again, speaking of vision, as it applies to some of the tactics used by a number of Obamanots, needs to have recipients with the least of smarts and, as many of us have been forced to bear witness to, this is not precisely a strong suit when applied to the blind followers of an empty suit…
As a fellow Marylander, well aware that we have bigots of every imaginable skin color of the rainbow lurking somewhere in the shadows of this beautiful State of ours, the stark fact that someone is so horribly victimized for exercising the right of freely thinking (and/or acting) is bothersome as hell, but the saddest thing of all is that I’m not terribly surprised.
Keep well, keep safe, and keepaware that there are many others who feel exactly as you do, politically speaking. And as a matter of fact, if things don’t get better I humbly suggest that you force the gurus in charge of the BO camp to give you not just pretty words but also their utter reassurance that your safety (and that of your loved ones) rests on their shoulders and nothing, but absolutely nothing nasty will happen because you opt to exercise your right to do with your vote (and your time) as you please.
PUMA reigns!
I was a participant on the Yahoo site and everyone that joined was there to share ideas.. in fact the webmaster, David Works, was initially not a supporter of the Hemings’ family, but wanted to participate in the discussion. After long discussions, David, changed his mind and became a supporter of the Hemings’ family. All who participated were required to give their names and connection. David can verify that Ms. Abeles was the only person who disguised their identity. No dirty tricks were planned .. only the arrangement of invitations from those of us who could supply them to our Hemings’ cousins. The Hemings’ family is a distinguished American family who has always demonstrated the upmost civility, even when my Jefferson cousins have made openly rascist remarks in their presence. Sadly, I have witnessed the behavior of Paulie and her husband, Nat and can verify that they are filled with hate and anger. It was the first time in my life that I had come face to face with such hatred and it left me forever changed. I had always believed that people could disagree, but agree to behave like adults. You say, that the Hemings’ were “name dropping”. As my father used to say, “you did nothing to be connected to this family… you must live up to it.. not down to it. My experience with the Abeles’ family (Paulie is not a descendant) is that they pat themselves and preen that they are related and are the best example of living down to thier inheritance. I am a Democrat.. my husband a Republican… I do not believe that Mr. McCain is a rascist.. just, that he has become entangled by one. Do not be fooled by Ms. Abeles or her husband, they are not the type of people they appear to be. My friends working for McCain tell me that they are embarassed by her as they know her true history and have seen the proof. Learn from this. History has shown us that hate mongering never wins. There are so many other more important issues to spend our time discussing — the Abeles are not one of them. Thomas Jefferson would welcome a lively discussion from all sides on the issues and not this childish gamesmanship.
In view of the fact that there are at least two posts here (jeffersonkintruthteller and JT) with pretty much the same meme (“Let me tell you—Paulie is this and/or Paulie is that”), seems to me that the issue prompting you to write is none other than this: Partial stance in regards to her as a person and not what you think of the revolting notion that, as an individual with unequivocal rights to her political views (however distasteful you, or any other individual may find them), the woman is being harassed for daring to use her right to campaign in order to get votes for whomever she pleases.
One other thing that made my stop and take a second look to what is it about your posting (and this goes for you, JKTT) that reeks of Obamanite strategy, is this passage, ~“My friends working for McCain tell me that they are embarassed by her as they know her true history and have seen the proof.”~
First: “proof” of what?
Second: who knows such “higher ups” (able to be privy to whom any other individual happens to be) and, most particularly, privy to what ought to be confidential info. Indeed, who’s privy to that kind of personal information such as being knowledgeable of even the name of other supporters, let alone to the point of not only knowing “her true history” but also of being “embarrassed of her” and, to make things worse, then have the gumption of spreading such gossip?
Third: who bothers to lend ears to “friends” whom, conveniently—though also highly suspect—happen to be holding some sort of “higher up” status in an organization that, more likely than not, has nothing to do with your political inclinations? Have you planted a “mole” in the McCain offices?
Although it bothers me a lot, these question came to mind almost instantly not because I give a flying rat’s behind about how one’s “friend” manages to gain access to such, what ought to be, well guarded personal info on others, but because of something that directly involves me. Yeah, I happen to also be a supporter and contributor of a candidate and am aware that the run of the mill contributor or supporter has no means—or the desire—to know anything else that goes on inside the entrails of the organization of any particular candidate, with the exception that her/his political career is going as AOK as wished.
Can assure you that I don’t know Paulie at all—just as I don’t know you—and what I (and, I assume, rest of folks) get by reading these mailings are her explanations of facts on family issues (or squabbles) that she only knows and, as far as you are concerned, the same thing applies. Which pretty much has to mean that it is left up to us individuals to believe (or not) whomever we chose. Which brings me to this next point.
As many souls the world over have been made painfully aware off (the Clintons anyone?), character assassination and/or getting rid of the opposition by any means possible seems to be a trademark of the Obama campaign and, apparently, going all the way to Chicago (Alice Palmer {et al} anyone?). Therefore, please excuse me if I don’t fall over my head to believe anything that comes from the mouth of, what appears to me, are his followers.
So, to iterate the main point, here the discussion is NOT about who an individual is or what makes them tic, but about the right that one has to follow to the hilt the political tendencies that they see fit. Yet, I haven’t seen anything in your mailings showing that this very issue of freedom of expression (one that affects EVERYONE, not just those who feel that they may have been disrespected due to their ethnic background, sex, creed, or any combination of these and/or other equally nasty human failures) is what has prompted you to write.
At any rate, I’ve had the patience to read all the entries in order to see if by any chance any of you had actually weighed on the central point of this thread—that of vicious harassment for following one’s political tendencies—and must say that the answer is no. Pity, for the omission does shed some light into what the real purpose of your mailings might actually be—character assassination, plain and simple.
Go PUMAS!
Hang in there, Paula. We’re with you…
