POLL: Majority of Americans Believe Obama Does Not View America Favorably

Barack Obama has a patriotism problem. According to a poll Rasmussen Reports conducted on 20 JUN 2008,
Forty-five percent (45%) say that Obama views our society as generally fair and decent while 39% think the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee sees society as generally unfair and discriminatory.
One can assume a candidate has an electability problem when a majority of Americans (55%) do not believe that candidate views the society he desires to represent as “fair and decent.” This is especially the case when a strong majority of Americans believe his opponent reveres the country he served during the Viet Nam War. I quote:
Sixty-three percent (63%) of Likely Voters in the United States say that John McCain views American society as generally fair and decent. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 14% think McCain views the nation as primarily unfair and discriminatory.
Even worse for Obama is the following finding of the Rasmussen Reports poll:
Sixty-four percent (64%) of Democrats say that Obama views society as fair and decent while only 50% believe McCain holds that view.
Republicans by a 77% to 7% margin say McCain views society as fair and decent. By a 66% to 22% margin, GOP voters think Obama sees society as generally unfair and discriminatory.
More than one of three members of Obama’s political Party believe the candidate assesses American society in a manner that is overly critical and unfair. Either Obama has failed to consolidate support within his political party, or Rasmussen Reports has measured what can be called the PUMA effect. Perhaps Rasmussen Reports simply recorded the discursive effects of the following:

You prove my point. There is discrimintion and unfair treatment in this country. So the fact that some people think that Obama realizes it should not be some sort of smear against him.
There are issues with sexism. There are issues with race. There are issues with the poor being taken advantage of. Not everywhere, and not by everyone. But those issues doexist. And if Obama understands that and McCain does not, then I would think that is a point in Obama’s favor.
(For those who can only think in terms of Hllary, well Hillary thought it too. She commented on sexism several times. So she agrees too.)

However, the author of the post does seem to have that problem. He says “Obama has a problem with patriotism” because some percentage of the population thinks he thinks there is some unfairness and discrimination in the US. Is that a rational position? Is it unpatriotic to believe there is unfairness and discrimination in this country? Is it unpatriotic to think that Hillary Clinton was treated unfairly and discriminated against because she is a woman? I just don’t get that.
Obama said Americans are bitter and cling to their guns and religion. He said they are racist – that they won’t vote for him, because he’s black and has a funny name – and that they blame their problems on people who look different from them. This poll says the majority of Americans find that view unpatriotic. McCain is a war hero, and people have no questions about his love for this country.

If you read the poll, you will see that it did not mention patriotism. That was added by the author of the post. It’s a common trick. Make an association that does not exist in fact, and many readers will just follow along.
You can argue that those things Obama said have hurt him – that’s a valid argument. And you can say you won’t vote for someone who says those things. That’s certainly your right. But my original point was it is an odd thing for a site that is dedicated to proving a candidate was treated unfairly and discriminated against to say that a candidate that believes there is unfairness and discrimination is unpatriotic.

The 55% is the “threshold” where “a candidate has an electability problem when a MAJORITY of Americans (55%) DO NOT believe that candidate views the society he desires to represent as “fair and decent”.”
Obama is only at 45% that DO believe he views society as fair and decent…therefore 55% DO NOT believe he does (39% mentioned, plus the remainder 16% with “no opinion” or at the least NO “POSITIVE” opinion).

Although not utopia, many people dream of coming here, while others come here both legally, and illegally. There is a reason for this, and it is not because of a flawed character. It’s because people, even people who have never been here before, understand that America offers its people the possibility to be whatever can be imagined. They understand that their hard work may reward them with a comfortable life. They understand that this is one of the best places in the world to be in order to experience what life has to offer.
So don’t tell me that these are just words, Mr. & Mrs. Obama. This is reality, a reality that you have chosen to take advantage of, but for some reason belittle at the same time. You apparently are the type of people who are never happy or satisfied with anything. Through an act of transference, you pass blame for the unhappiness within your personal life on to the public sphere for everyone to see. You blame America for what is wrong in your own life instead of accepting that you make your life what it is. America is not what is wrong. To the contrary, it is you that is wrong, and it is about time that you recognize it.

If one wants to be representing this country, there are certain traditional and historical roles that one does. We don’t have a queen, so the little things like putting your hand over your heart and some of the others are part of that role and tradition. There is nothing within the UCC tradition to say that one should not do this because of religious concerns.

That doesn’t mean I’m not a patriot. I’d defend the Constitution to the death, which is more than some can say. I won’t do it for show, just because some guy suggests it and the people in the room around me expect it.
Maybe some people would be happier if Obama always stood there, hand over his heart, like we all did back in elementary school. The reason Clinton supporters will not vote for Obama is because they are embarrassed of him, his life, his unfair tactics and his beliefs. And they still don’t know all about him.
They don’t want a candidate that has been in a twenty year relationship with Reverend Wright and the Trinity United Church of Christ.
They don’t’ want a candidate that has a twenty year relationship with Father Pflaeger as his compass in life
They don’t want a candidate that went to a church that supports Louis Farrakhan, an anti Semitic racist.
They don’t want to defend Black Liberation theology.
They don’t want a candidate that lies about his relationship with Tony Rezko, the Syrian Criminal that sold his property to Obama and supported his campaign.
They don’t want a candidate that could work with a domestic terrorist, William Ayers.
They don’t want a candidate that Hamas supports.
They don’t want a candidate that Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam support
They don’t want a candidate that has a wife that has just now realized she was proud of our country.
They don’t want a candidate that denies Florida and Michigan their voices
They don’t want a candidate that mentions 57 states in his speeches. 50 states in the USA and 57 states in the Nation of Islam (IOC website)
They don’t want a candidate that fights unfair and steals Michigan delegate votes from his opponent.
They don’t want a candidate that feels sorry to leave a church that is anti American and that preaches hatred and racial views that are cruel and nasty.
They don’t want a candidate that is inexperienced.
They don’t want a candidate that considers it a loss to not to be able to attend his anti American, racist Church.
They don’t want a candidate that has a “non practicing” Muslim father, but avoids the entire discussion of his father.
They don’t’ want a candidate that won’t debate
They don’t’ want a candidate that misleads the youth with an ‘Obama girl and her behind in their face”
They don’t want a candidate that says he’s an African American and missed the MLK Remembrance Day and the Louisiana Black Caucus meeting
They don’t want a candidate that has done nothing for humanity except talk about it.
They don’t’ want a candidate that has poor judgment.
They don’t’ want a candidate named; Barack Hussein Obama
He scares them to death.
He is embarrassing.
He is unelectable.
As a woman, a Democrat and a firm supporter of Democracy, this has been the worst media coverage of a primary election ever. Also, I am totally embarrassed of Senator Obama for his morals, his associates and his views of the United States.
I have never seen such poor and biased reporting by media in my entire life.. 20 million Clinton supporters have had it with the media and injustice of this whole nominating system. This was not reporting, it was “Clinton” bashing. I felt like I was hearing headlines from the “Enquirer” . Slews of media networks followed each other down a lane of inaccurate reporting and vicious attacks against the entire Clinton family. The coverage swayed the public and government superdelegates into their “Obama Mania” corner.
For the first in my life, I am completely embarrassed of our country and it’s reporting tactics. The pundits were cruel towards our First Lady and the entire world watched.
I also cannot understand how Obama could not be embarrassed.
How dare he ask the American people to stand with him and defend his ugly beliefs from his church (Trinity United Church of Christ), his radical and anti Semitic friends and his far left views of life.
How dare Senator Obama not apologize to Senator Clinton for the cruel remarks screamed in pews of his church about whites, Senator Clinton and President Cllinton.
Instead of apologizing to the entire Clinton family, Senator Obama had regrets about having to distance himself from his church and his radical anti American buddies and mentors, Reverend Wright and Father Pflaeger.
Obama has deceived the American people and has used crooked tactics since the beginning of the primary season.
Obama kept Michigan and Florida delegates in his pocket the whole time to sway voters and superdelgates, to give himself bragging rights. “I have the most delegates. I am the winner! We have to follow the rules. Florida and Michigan will vote for me.”
Over 300 delegate and over 2 million people. He only won this primary because the fourth largest state has never been heard properly. The popular vote was ignored and the delegates were never added in full. The media displayed inaccurate maps with incorrect numbers to give Obama a free push.
For Senator Obama to accept this decision about not seating Florida and Michigan is especially troubling. How can a leader whose message is one of “unity” agree to support a decision that strips Senator Clinton of delegates and Florida voters of their voices?
I wonder whether the price the Democratic party will pay in the general election was worth Obama’s very poor decision to ignore Michigan and Florida voters. Millions don’t think so.

Barak Hussein Obama has African Americans and elitists in his pocket. Doesn’t sound like a winning ticket to me.
This is the first time in my life, along with my entire community, that I will be voting for a Republican or as an Independent.
Senator Clinton does not need Obama. Obama needs Clinton. I pray that she will not accept a VP role if he offered the position.
Obama is a complete embarrassment to this country as a potential candidate for the President of the United States.

For the record, McCain has so many indiscretions there isn’t enough space on the web to list them. Female voters can throw their progress out the window, it will either be taken away or halted under McCain’s regime.
Many don’t get it. Minorities have voted for white candidates all their lives, that was okay, right? However, a candidate who is of color, qualified, if not more qualified for president; and you refuse to vote for him. Remember Bush, the one so qualified you voted for, screwed you royally. It should be obvious, the experienced got America in the mess it’s in. That being said, the same “ole” mindset will continue to destroy America.

The prison experts have reported that there are 100,000 innocent Americans currently being falsely imprisoned along with the 2,300,000 total US prison population nationwide.
**Since our US Congress has never afforded poor prison inmates federal appeal legal counsel for their federal retrials,they have effectively closed the doors on these tens of thousands of innocent citizens ever being capable of possibly exonerating themselves to regain their freedom through being granted new retrials.
This same exact unjust situation was happening in our Southern States when poor and mostly uneducated Black Americans were being falsely imprisoned for endless decades without the needed educational skills to properly submit their own written federal trial appeals.
This devious and deceptive judicial process of making our poor and innocent prison inmates formulate and write their own federal appeal legal cases for possible retrials on their state criminal cases,is still in effect today even though everyone in our US judicial system knows that without proper legal representation, these tens of thousands of innocent prison inmates will be denied their rightful opportunities of ever being granted new trials from our federal appeal judges!!
Sadly, the true US *legal* Federal Appeal situation that occurs when any of our uneducated American prison inmates are forced to attempt to submit their own written Federal Appeals (from our prisons nationwide) without the assistance of proper legal counsel, is that they all are in reality being denied their legitimate rights for Habeas Corpus and will win any future Supreme Court Case concerning this injustice!
