When will he stop bringing up race or at least stop pretending he isn’t. Barack Obama said..
“They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?”
He said he was also set for Republicans to say “he’s got a feisty wife,” in trying to attack his wife Michelle.
this is what bothers me about him…..
maybe he started out as a good guy full of unity.. I don’t believe that because of who he associates with, but I like to play “what if”. So, what if everything that people said about him in the beginning was true..and he really was the guy to bring change…..
Can we still say that today?
At every turn he has blamed someone else for bringing in the ‘race card’… first, it was Bill Clinton down in south carolina, then it was Hillary talking about RFK and now it’s what the Pubs are going to do to him in the future..
The only ones who thought ‘race’ was the issue with Bill and Hill, were Obama’s people…. as for what the Pubs will do or say in the future? Hell, I have no idea…. but what I do know is the people that actually are bringing up race….are his own f–king people… and you don’t have to twist your head to the left and then the right and then burp 3 times to finally see how the comment is racist..the shit they are spewing is right up there with Pat Robertson’s ‘god hates fags’…it’s unequivocal. It’s as in your face as you can get!
I wonder if Obama is going to come out and say anything against Spike’s ‘people need to get used to chocolate city comments‘ ? Or did his camp just smile and ‘fist-bump’ when they heard it.
Dude! If you’re going to go out and condemn all ‘maybe, kinda, slightly in a different realm’ racial remarks… you better damn well start doing it against people of all colors instead of only doing it solely to the white people.
It has been rare for him to bring up the topic during his presidential bid. In March he gave a widely praised speech on the subject after receiving criticism over racially charged comments by his longtime pastor.
no…… it hasn’t been ‘rare’ for him to bring it up… he’s done it more than anyone else running…but we’re not supposed to look at it that way…. We’re supposed just remember that fantabulous speech he gave when he defended his racist pastor who he could no more disown than he could disown his ‘white’ grandma. Or his defense of the church where the racial-hate was sermonized, but was where he found God, was married and had his children baptized. Both of which he later disowned because it was either that of give up the candidacy. Because suddenly, as suddenly as when he started running for office, they turned out to more about ‘white-hate’ than ‘God’s love’… (Funny how that’s just now happened and never in his 20 years as a member did he see or hear of it before.) When Obama did that, when he disowned the church and the Reverend he did the opposite of his ‘widely praised speech’ didn’t he? So at the very least, that speech is null and void and forever tarnished because he did disown the guy and the church a week or so later…
It’s guardian’s roommate all over again. He’s pointing at everything saying ‘racist comment…racist thinking…racist commercial… racist comparison’ and then saying it’s everyone else who bringing up race.
Has he changed?
Is this Obama out there now… the same one that won Iowa? I don’t think so. I think that guy is gone and the guy in his place will do or say anything, break any promise, disown anyone in his way and pander to whatever group gets him the white house. Not that there is anything new about that. But isn’t it ironic that everyone wants him because he’s not infected by Washington because he’s just so new to it all (that’s the nice way to say inexperienced, btw)…. and yet he’s playing Washington politics 101 and he beating everyone at it because like the Jewish comedian can make Jew jokes.. the Black man can point and scream at race and not look racist doing it.
And yet, I should still vote for him because I’m a lib-dem and I don’t want another 4 years of Old-Bush.
Except I know what I will get with Old-Bush which is more of the same. With Obama tho? I don’t know that I can take the “get used to chocolate city” and “White Folks, You Owe Us The Whole Country” . I don’t know that I can deal with that at all, all in the name of ‘change’.
Btw…. I don’t think the Pubs need to scare off white people by bringing in race. I think all they need to do is play a few Farrakhan speeches and show this photo around a little. When you add those with Wright and Pfleger Sermon… People will start to question Barack and who he’s been hanging around with for the last 20 years and start asking what kind of person is he. All without bringing up the elephant in the room…his skin color.

According to AP he thinks that Obama is distorting the Bible away from its original meaning. Dobson doesn’t have the political power he used to have, but he does affect some voters.

I was supporting Edwards when I recognized the race card was being played against the Clintons in SC. Obama has no shame, and like all impostors (fake presidential seal, say no more).
You know what really confirmed it for me? When he said at one of the debates, “We have a woman, an African American, and then there’s John”. That showed sexism, racism and a sprinkle of white hatred on top. I don’t understand people who use race and gender to put down other people.
Obama’s tarring the Clintons – of all people – as racist is, for me, the most unforgivable thing he has done. If Bill and Hillary are racist, what does that make the rest of us? KKKers? We should all be standing up and screaming to the media about this or a lot of people will always believe it is true. We owe the Clintons that much – and more.
Obama has succeeded in trashing the legacy of the most successful Democratic president since FDR. Bill’s record on the economy, balancing the budget, moving record numbers of people out of poverty, enhancing the prestige of our country around the world, etc. is outstanding. Too bad the Democratic party hasn’t got the sense to keep telling this to the American people instead of pushing some kind of cheesy change candidate.

I cannot vote for this Obama person. I simply in my heart feel that he is essentially unqualified to be POTUS. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin, but rather his lack of good judgment. He seems to deny himself the guidance of any balanced discernment he would need to make the best decisions for all people. I honestly pray that he does drop out or something untoward is revealed that will end this ridiculously dangerous charade he is playing. Yes I think charade is the operative word here. With so little experience and his obviously detrimental friendships that he brings to the table, I can’t see how he will strengthen this country. What I found beyond belief today was that Armstrong Jones, the extremely conservative African American Republican on Fox, was asked about his comment that even though he didn’t agree with anything Obama stood for he hadn’t decided who he would vote for yet. Can you imagine the uproar if a white person was a Democrat and said they didn’t believe in anything the white Republican stood for but would vote for him over the African American Democrat. As I said during the campaign, when over 90 % of any group votes for their own race it is racist. I have never seen a white person get that kind of a racial percentage when they were running against a person of another race.

I think O’Rielly is trying to get him on his show. I used to think O’Rielly was loud and obnoxious but now I don’t think he is obnoxious enough when it comes to Obama. I just watched Jon Stewart & he was making fun of BO’s recent public financing flip flop. It was pretty funny, but the laughter wasn’t as loud as you’d expect & Stewart looked at the audience & told them it was okay to laugh. The Obama campaign has really managed to control the national dialogue, hasn’t it?

Polls are not random samplings. They are targeted samplings to represent the whole electorate.
The problem with many is the bias that goes into finding the target group.
Newsweek for example targets a disproportionate number of Democrats, over Republicans. If you ask 15% more Dems than Repubs who they will vote for, it should not be a surprise when the result shows 15% of the target group prefers the Dem candidate.
It’s like taking a poll at an Obama speech. it should not be a surprise that a majority of Obama supporters prefer Obama.
If you want to rely on polls, you need to look at the details of how those polled were targeted. It is not by random sampling.

I thought this was about Obama and his use of crack cocaine. Come to think of it, when is he going to release his full medical records? McCain released over 1000 pages of medical records and Obama released…a year old letter from his doctor saying he was fit to run for President. Why! What’s he hiding that he can only release what basically amounts to a permission slip from a doctor. Your local school requires more information to allow your kid to play soccer but for President we get this. I, Doctor Who, give little Obama permission to run for the office of the President of the United States.
My thought…in the past, Obama used crack cocaine (his words, not mine). When did he stop? Better yet, has he stopped. Is there information of his having to go into rehab? What is he not telling us? I’d like to know because although I don’t want a Republican in the White House, I want a crack head less.

Obama never said he used crack cocaine. He said he used cocaine in his teens.
Years of regular use creates it’s own personality. If people complain about Obama’s personality it’s that he is too eerily cool and composed. You will never hear that about a long term cocaine user. Then you see someone who is often anxious, hyper, short tempered,prone to panic attacks,aggressive and paranoid. He is not described that way now or in 99 (although I’m sure you guys will think so)
Main physical changes will be increase blood pressure and heart rate, those things were on the doctors report. His are low normal.
The behavioral evidence is clear in regular users, Obama shows none of them.
If you want him to be an addict in your story think of some drug that mellows you emotionally and physically. Cocaine won’t make it.
Of course McCain showed his physical records in the limited ways (few reporters, short amount of time). At 72 with known recurrent melanoma health is a factor. Have young candidates always done so? Did Clinton?
The issue here is that we want to see Senator Obama’s medical records, not more excuses from those who excuse his excuses. With me? Thanks, sweetie!
Obama could say absolutely nothing that would get MY vote! How could I possibly trust anything he says? And these comments from people like Spike Lee are so self-defeating that one can only be led to believe that he wants Obama to lose. Then, of course, the white man can be blamed still again, and race baiters like Lee can continue to make a buck off it all. You can bet that if BO loses either the nomination or the election, it will be chalked up by many of his black supporters to the cheating of white people “to keep the black man down”. And yet whites are supposed to listen to threats of street violence, whites being driven from cities, and generally a “Barack-or-else” Presidency and not react negatively?
The headline today on Yahoo! News is that James Dobson is criticizing Obama. Turns out, Obama wanted to HOLD MEETINGS AT JAMES DOBSON’S FOCUS ON THE FAMILY CAMPUS! Dobson’s criticizing him because Obama said in a campaign speech: “Folks aren’t reading THEIR BIBLES”!! Wait, I thought poor people didn’t vote for him because they ARE clinging to their Bibles?

I used to really like digby but the Kool-Aid is like a flood tide.

I appreciate the explanation of the signs of a cocaine user but to me, the use of cocaine shows a lack of judgment whether used by an adult or teen.

Good article, thought provoking and should have been on editorial pages (along with more by this author) of every major paper in the country before Hilary dropped out.
You know 90% of the blacks we are told voted for Obama. They didn’t take into account any eligibility requirements, policy proposals, etc., just he was black like them. Pride in your race is good I guess if you need to make that distinction. An American is fine with me. Obama’s campaign is like a black power organization the same as it was with the Black Panthers. I never thought I woud have to deal with being called a racist because I didn’t like a candidate or didn’t think that candidate had enough experience or integrity but I am. Blacks are responsible for letting this happen. Perhaps America will never please them until either the whites are gone or there are more blacks than whites. It seems insane but here we are, a presidential candidate running on the race card. Don’t vote for him and your a racist. Disagree with him and your a racist. Ask him about his past and present associations and your a racist. Ask him for his state senate records and your a racist. Ask him for his REAL birth certificate and your a racist. Well OK. I never once heard Hillary say that disagreeing with her was sexist. Hillary didn’t say it was sexist when she was ask to provide her tax returns or the records when she was first lady, etc. Obama is the most unelectable candidate to ever run for any office let alone the POTUS. No Obama from someone who just found out that they are a racist.
