What Does He Really Believe?

This new Republican National Committee ad asks what Obama’s real position is on trade issues. It’s hard to tell.

Obama will do anything or say anything.

I can’t detect any core values — except that he wants money and power and he will do anything to get both.

Comment by Imogen | 2008-06-24 17:06:58

yeah this reminds me of when Hillary flip-flopped on NAFTA a little…

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-06-24 17:26:17

Oh here we go again. Would you like to hear the facts of the case, or are you going to plug your ears and go “Lalalalalalal”. Cause as usual, you’re talking out your fat ass.

Comment by susan | 2008-06-24 17:47:33

Yes, I would like to hear the facts as you know them.

Comment by drkate | 2008-06-24 17:59:48

out of luck, you lazy troll.

How’s the FISA betrayal working for ya? How about Obama’s dukakis moment standing behind the fake presidential seal?

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-24 18:16:19

Her husband signed NAFTA, and she wanted to revise it. Same thing she’s said all along. Her biographer Carl Barnstein who was never all warm and fuzzy about her but is a credible journalist said she had always thought it was a bad idea, but she never contradicted her husband on the issue in public while she was First Lady.

Comment by fran | 2008-06-24 21:28:56

There were several credible witnesses, including David Gergen, who came forward and said Hillary did not support NAFTA in the White House, but obviously, could not contradict Bill in public. She was not an elected official at that time.

And when did Hillary flip on NAFTA, if your looking at FACTS that are TRUE then you would know that she never has flipped on her position.

Obama Aide Says Bill Clinton Will Play `Big Role’ in Campaign

By Kristin Jensen

~snip~

June 24 (Bloomberg) — Democrat Barack Obama’s campaign welcomed former President Bill Clinton’s offer of support and said he will have a “big role” in the general election.

Clinton released a statement through a spokesman saying he would do “whatever he can and is asked to do” to help Obama win the presidency.

Comment by cc | 2008-06-24 18:04:36

b s…..Obama better watch his back if he asks bill to help him after the racist crap the obots pulled in S. carolina….no way in h-e-double-l will bill work ot for this fraud.

Comment by AMERICAN SAWBUCK | 2008-06-24 18:11:53

I agree with you..no way Bill will help him…more like kill him with kindness as my mother used to say.
My money is on the Clintons both …Watch your back bambi payback is a BITCH

Comment by IndayHill | 2008-06-24 16:59:11

Waving in the mast is the logo of the “copied presidential seal” of the most egoistic person on earth.
Obama is always confused to who among his shady advisers will he listen too and be his/her mouthpiece. He cannot decide on his own.
One thing sure : HE BELIEVES HE CAN FOOL THE VOTERS BY FLIP-FLOPPING!(highcase = wake-up, America!)
God Bless America!

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-24 18:18:37

I liked when he was running for Possum King. Why d’he quit using that seal?

Comment by Dawnelle | 2008-06-24 17:41:08

It’s weird how easily one wind surfing picture and a “mostly” bogus swift boat 527 AD was all it took for KERRY to lose.

With all of the compromising video on OBama and his family and mentors - if he wins 10 states I’ll be surprised!

Oregon, CT, Hawaii, Illinois, CA, Delaware, (maybe these) MI, Maine,NJ,WA?

how many electoral votes is that?
not enough me thinks

OMG, I always hate to see Oregon (my state) in that line up. Still, I doubt the people here will actually wake up in time to vote for McCain and will support Barry all the way. Please outvote us America. The fate of our country depends on you!

The Republicans have so many of these flip flops they probably are having trouble deciding which ones to use. Obama has set a new standard for flip flops. He has a doctoral degree in flip flops. I personally prefer the real label, and that is LIAR!

Comment by NoObamislamists | 2008-06-24 16:57:14

Comment by cc | 2008-06-24 18:07:39

I know…we should all go to walmart and buy a pair of flip flops and mail them to the Obama campaign and the DNC..hundreds of thousands of flip flops landing on their desks..I love it!

Great example that this is not a Rethug front, running Rethug attack ads. Clintn Rethugs, “we demand you pick the white candidate or we will support the other white candidate”. Repukes for “hard working, white Americans”

Comment by peter pentagram made too many enemies | 2008-06-24 16:52:58

What the hell are you talking about?

Again.

You know that movie “Trip to Bountiful?”

I feel like I’m on a “Trip to Batshit” when I read posts by the Obama-republican trolls.

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-06-24 17:00:03

Bitch all you want, but these attack ads something we foresaw months ago, there is still time for Barky to step aside fo the good of the Democratic Party, African Americans and America as a whole. Now go back to England ya limey fruit. We don’t tell you what to do with Prince Charles and Camilla.

Comment by UKforDems | 2008-06-24 17:07:37

Hillary has already stepped aside, so it will be Obama 08. Of course the Repukes were going to run these, but it shows how much of a front you Clinton Repukes are for McWar when you run their ads and do not even get paid for them.

(Is Barky - Darky just coincidence?)

Comment by David Duke | 2008-06-24 17:12:31

Yes, I believe that’s what “Barky” means! Be still my heart!

Comment by Medusa | 2008-06-24 22:17:54

Wow, another Tiny Winky moment from an Obamabot. How the hell did you make that leap from Barky to darky? It took me a few re-reads to even understnd what you were getting at. You see racism everywhere…it’s called projection. You and the David Duke troll and McBush (who used the term “NIGRA” when talking to an AA femalelast night) are the true racists.

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-06-24 17:55:03

Ya wanna here something realy sad, I had lunch at a sport’s bar today, (my son wanted a burger after his doctor’s appointment), and the new Imus dust-up came on ESPN, and you should have heard the grumbling from the crowd, they are getting apathetic. The race card being overplayed by Obama is diminishing the real moments of racism. I hope you Obamabots realize what you have done.

Comment by DoroB | 2008-06-24 18:19:59

Let them play it a little more so people will get really sick of it.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-24 18:28:16

Don’t think so. Anyone could have pieced that tape together.

The Arab countries and Africa are taken with the idea of Obama.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-24 18:33:19

Gosh. I get all misty-eyed just thinking about it. Andrew “Bareback” Sullivan expressed it so well…

What does he offer? First and foremost: his face. Think of it as the most effective potential re-branding of the United States since Reagan. Such a re-branding is not trivial—it’s central to an effective war strategy. The war on Islamist terror, after all, is two-pronged: a function of both hard power and soft power. We have seen the potential of hard power in removing the Taliban and Saddam Hussein. We have also seen its inherent weaknesses in Iraq, and its profound limitations in winning a long war against radical Islam. The next president has to create a sophisticated and supple blend of soft and hard power to isolate the enemy, to fight where necessary, but also to create an ideological template that works to the West’s advantage over the long haul. There is simply no other candidate with the potential of Obama to do this. Which is where his face comes in.

Consider this hypothetical. It’s November 2008. A young Pakistani Muslim is watching television and sees that this man—Barack Hussein Obama—is the new face of America. In one simple image, America’s soft power has been ratcheted up not a notch, but a logarithm. A brown-skinned man whose father was an African, who grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii, who attended a majority-Muslim school as a boy, is now the alleged enemy. If you wanted the crudest but most effective weapon against the demonization of America that fuels Islamist ideology, Obama’s face gets close. It proves them wrong about what America is in ways no words can.

I can’t tell. I used to have 3 really great guy friends on line (Gay) that would always tell me if they spotted someone that was really GAY and faking it.

Obama never takes responsibility for what he does but only seeks to blame others. If Obama gets elected I would not put it past him to blame all of his failures and fiascos while president on McCain since it was McCain’s fault that he failed to defeat Obama.

Comment by Mike S | 2008-06-24 20:52:07

heh. “Obama will destroy the party” says the idiot trying their hardest to destroy the party.

Another national poll has Obama up double digits. +12 against McCain when it’s the two of them. +15 when Barr and Nader are included.

Only 11% of Clinton voters have defected to McCain.

Obama wants rich kids to be able to opt out of war and get paid $40 an hour to serve in the Peace Corps which I’m totally against. If you’re a douchebag hippie too cowardly to fight in a war and rich enough already to get this kind of perk, I’m not giving you tax money to go hide in Africa. Get it from your latte sipping, Volvo driving parents.

I say more war, no cop outs, rich / poor, you’re all going overseas.

McCain flaps around a lot, too. But at least he has a record from BC (before candidacy). That he was representing Arizona also has to be taken into consideration.

What I like about McCain is that the right wing scary folk don’t like him. What I also like about McCain is that it seems as if he has been the target of a detraction campaign in which they neutralize by ignoriing, and when that doesn’t work, vilify folks who don’t toe the party line. He, too, is and has been Fair Game - same as HRC and others.

By the way, when the Plame-Wilson affair was developing, did anybody notice that nobody was puzzled by the meaning of “Fair Game.” They all knew what it meant. Clearly it standard practice. I wonder what happens to someone who says bad (but true) things about someone who is not Fair Game.

Will try to overlook the fact McCain he made Chris Matthews leg tingle in 2003.

I think the RNC are using the right strategy. I believe the only person to who can beat BO is BO, as strange as that sounds.

Axtion speaks louder than words - will be a hit for the RNC as they play his promises versus his voting record.

The other issue is BO can only defend his actions which will put him on the defensive throughout the campaign.

Tick tock

flip flop

every day there’s a new one.

The Republicans are going to have a field day with him. They are just keeping their powder dry til after the Convention when we are stuck with this guy. And this year, the Repubs don’t even have to make anything up — it will ALL be true.

If Obama had any sense, he would bow out for the good of the party. Come on, Hillary’s positions made sense from day and and she hasn’t flipped flopped. She’s only 120 pledged delegates behind out of about 4,000 — she won all the big states save Illinois, all the swing states, and has the electoral map in her pocket — and she actually knows what she’s doing. Those SDs pledges are meaningless til they actually vote at the Convention.

Who did those Super Delegates nominate again?

Call your congressman/woman and tell ‘em you’ve changed your mind. There’s still time to get Hillary!!

Comment by typical irishman | 2008-06-24 17:44:56

I don’t have a clue what Obagasm trade issues are. I do know he likes to invest in delegates. He has bought a boat load of that political commodity. And he thinks slavery is terrible. What will he do with all the delegates he has purchased? Maybe China will take them in place of green stamps. That would be a good outcome for the Teddy/Kerry team. Sell em to China.

Comment by Linda C. | 2008-06-24 17:44:58

It is too early to rely on polls.

I really don’t think that RNC is going to smear Obama…they have enough material from Obama himself.

However, the RNC is having difficulty getting a message put together. Obama haa difficulty sticking with the same message.

Did anyone see the new pathetic Moveon.org commercial. Some woman holds her infant talking about 100 years in Iraq and McCain can’t have her baby boy?

How sad. First they try to threaten women with Roe V Wade and now if we don’t vote for Obama, McCain is going to come in and steal your baby.

Comment by typical irishman | 2008-06-24 17:54:49

Meanwhile Obama is telling everyone what the republicans are going to do to make the American people afraid of him and at the conclusion asks “Oh yeah, did I mention I was black”? LOL. Now BO doesn’t have the Clintons to hang the racist remarks on so he is rehearsin how to play the race thing w/Republicans. McCain could not care less for Obama’s race comments. :)

Comment by believe | 2008-06-24 17:46:14

Then we have John McCain:

The past couple of weeks have been especially difficult when it comes to McCain flip-flops.

* McCain supported the drilling moratorium; now he’s against it.

* McCain strongly opposes a windfall-tax on oil company profits. Three weeks earlier, he was perfectly comfortable with the idea.

* McCain thought Bush’s warrantless-wiretap program circumvented the law; now he believes the opposite.

* McCain defended “privatizing” Social Security. Now he says he’s against privatization (though he actually still supports it.)

Wait, I’m not done with the last two weeks yet….

* McCain wanted to change the Republican Party platform to protect abortion rights in cases of rape and incest. Now he doesn’t.

* McCain thought the estate tax was perfectly fair. Now he believes the opposite.

* He opposed indefinite detention of terrorist suspects. When the Supreme Court reached the same conclusion, he called it “one of the worst decisions in the history of this country.”

* McCain said he would “not impose a litmus test on any nominee.” He used to promise the opposite.

And these come after these other reversals from April and May:

* McCain believes the telecoms should be forced to explain their role in the administration’s warrantless surveillance program as a condition for retroactive immunity. He used to believe the opposite.

* McCain supported storing spent nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. Now he believes the opposite.

* McCain supported moving “towards normalization of relations” with Cuba. Now he believes the opposite.

* McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Hamas. Now he believes the opposite.

* McCain believed the U.S. should engage in diplomacy with Syria. Now he believes the opposite.

* He argued the NRA should not have a role in the Republican Party’s policy making. Now he believes the opposite.

* McCain supported his own lobbying-reform legislation from 1997. Now he doesn’t.

* He wanted political support from radical televangelists like John Hagee and Rod Parsley. Now he doesn’t.

* McCain supported the Lieberman/Warner legislation to combat global warming. Now he doesn’t.

And these are the flip-flops I’ve noticed earlier:

* McCain pledged in February 2008 that he would not, under any circumstances, raise taxes. Specifically, McCain was asked if he is a “‘read my lips’ candidate, no new taxes, no matter what?” referring to George H.W. Bush’s 1988 pledge. “No new taxes,” McCain responded. Two weeks later, McCain said, “I’m not making a ‘read my lips’ statement, in that I will not raise taxes.”

* McCain is both for and against a “rogue state rollback” as a focus of his foreign policy vision.

* McCain says he considered and did not consider joining John Kerry’s Democratic ticket in 2004.

* In 1998, he championed raising cigarette taxes to fund programs to cut underage smoking, insisting that it would prevent illnesses and provide resources for public health programs. Now, McCain opposes a $0.61-per-pack tax increase, won’t commit to supporting a regulation bill he’s co-sponsoring, and has hired Philip Morris’ former lobbyist as his senior campaign adviser.

* McCain has changed his economic worldview on multiple occasions.

* McCain has changed his mind about a long-term U.S. military presence in Iraq on multiple occasions.

* McCain is both for and against attacking Barack Obama over his former pastor at his former church.

* McCain believes Americans are both better and worse off than they were before Bush took office.

* McCain is both for and against earmarks for Arizona.

* McCain believes his endorsement from radical televangelist John Hagee was both a good and bad idea.

* McCain’s first mortgage plan was premised on the notion that homeowners facing foreclosure shouldn’t be “rewarded” for acting “irresponsibly.” His second mortgage plan took largely the opposite position.

* McCain vowed, if elected, to balance the federal budget by the end of his first term. Soon after, he decided he would no longer even try to reach that goal.

* In February 2008, McCain reversed course on prohibiting waterboarding.

* McCain used to champion the Law of the Sea convention, even volunteering to testify on the treaty’s behalf before a Senate committee. Now he opposes it.

* McCain was a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act, which would grant legal status to illegal immigrants’ kids who graduate from high school. Now he’s against it.

* On immigration policy in general, McCain announced in February 2008 that he would vote against his own legislation.

* In 2006, McCain sponsored legislation to require grassroots lobbying coalitions to reveal their financial donors. In 2007, after receiving “feedback” on the proposal, McCain told far-right activist groups that he opposes his own measure.

* McCain said before the war in Iraq, “We will win this conflict. We will win it easily.” Four years later, McCain said he knew all along that the war in Iraq war was “probably going to be long and hard and tough.”

* McCain said he was the “greatest critic” of Rumsfeld’s failed Iraq policy. In December 2003, McCain praised the same strategy as “a mission accomplished.” In March 2004, he said, “I’m confident we’re on the right course.” In December 2005, he said, “Overall, I think a year from now, we will have made a fair amount of progress if we stay the course.”

* McCain went from saying he would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade to saying the exact opposite.

* McCain went from saying gay marriage should be allowed, to saying gay marriage shouldn’t be allowed.

* McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as “an agent of intolerance” in 2002, but then decided to cozy up to the man who said Americans “deserved” the 9/11 attacks.

* McCain used to oppose Bush’s tax cuts for the very wealthy, but he reversed course in February.

* On a related note, he said 2005 that he opposed the tax cuts because they were “too tilted to the wealthy.” By 2007, he denied ever having said this, and insisted he opposed the cuts because of increased government spending.

* In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending “dirty money” to help finance Bush’s presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.

* McCain supported a major campaign-finance reform measure that bore his name. In June 2007, he abandoned his own legislation.

* McCain opposed a holiday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr., before he supported it.

* McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.

* McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he’s pro-ethanol.

* McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.

* McCain decided in 2000 that he didn’t want anything to do with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, believing he “would taint the image of the ‘Straight Talk Express.’” Kissinger is now the Honorary Co-Chair for his presidential campaign in New York.

We just don’t like Obama. We never will. McCain never pretended to be something he wasn’t. His changes of mind are less aggravating.

Europeans are electing conservatives. Nikolas Sarkozy in France, Angela Merkel in Germany, Silvio Burloscuni in Italy - that’s like having George W. Bush for one term, electing Barack Obama, then regretting it and voting Bush back in. You know why? Because Hope and Change suck. They bankrupt your country, and in Europe that means everyone goes on strike all the time.

Because he is losing badly, and they know it.

Hillary and Bill the saviors of OB, how ironic.

He’s still going to lose, badly!

I think they are skewing the statistics, as usual. I was at a party recently, and not one of the 20 people there were going to vote BO. Nobody in my family is voting BO. Why is the DNC having such difficulty raising money, if only 11% of Hillary’s voters are not going with BO. I think the number is much higher, and they are bullshitting us as usual.

The Obot’s are getting all excited and shooting their load over the latest LA Times/Bloomberg Poll.

Since your school has not covered this yet, let me give you a lesson in Polling 101.

If you are going to put your faith in a poll, you should at least understand polling methodology.

If we were to poll all the knuckleheads at an O’boy speech, it’s pretty safe to say that O’boy will come out ahead in the poll.

Bloomberg is clearly in the bias tank for O’boy, along with the leftist LA Times. And, since you did not check their sampling method, I have it for you below.

In the LA Times/Bloomberg sample of voters, 39% identified themselves as Democrats, 22% as Republicans.

The poll had 17% more Republicans than Democrats. And, what a surprise O’boy came out 12% ahead!!!

Newsweek pulled the same deceptive crap when they polled 15% more Dems than Repubs last Friday.

If the poll were more representative of the voting public, it would be a statistical tie, or worse for you, McCain would be ahead.

Find me a pollster or pundit that thinks the Dems will outnumber the Repubs by 17% at the polls in Nov.

Until then, get your head out of that stinky hole, and cite a real poll like Gallup or Rassmusen.

Comment by Anee | 2008-06-24 19:19:21

You of course are right, the MSM is in the tank for OB, its been that way for a long time… no news there.
The poll is trying to brainwash us into thinking OB is going to win and we the “poor” deadenders are going to be left behind… oh I’m so scared.
I’m not afraid to not vote for OB, trust me the sun will come up in the morning, the oceans will not part, (according to OB) if we don’t get on board the OB train or (titantic).

Unity is right off of I91 which makes it a reasonable trip from Springfield MA, Boston Ma, Hartford CT, Albany NY, and of course parts of NH and VT. You can map quest it and simply put in Unity Elementary School in place of “business” Unity is a town of only 1,700 so I doubt that there will be a crowd of 10,000. A couple hundred Puma’s would make the news and the place will be crawling with national media because this the first appearance of Hillary and Obama together.
