FACT CHECK: Lying Is Not A Core American Value

According to the official Barack Obama campaign, “Barack speaks to voters about the core values this nation was founded on and how they have guided him to work hard for his education” in his advertisement entitled “The Country I Love.”  One wonders if lying is one of these “core values,” for Obama states in second 47 of this advertisement that he “passed laws,” including a law that “extended health care for wounded troops.”

But Obama did not pass this law.  He did not even sponsor or cosponsor it.

In fact, he missed the 22 January 2008 roll call vote on “Public Law 110-181“, otherwise known as HR 4986, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008, which was signed into law by President George Bush and not by the absent Senator Obama on 28 January 2008. Barack Obama will do and say anything in order to win an election.  He will even disrespect our men and women in uniform by claiming he passed a law on which he did not even cast a vote.

Because lying is not a “core American value,” Obama should pull the ad and issue an official apology to our troops and to the American people.

I’m so glad this issue has its own thread!

Also note the all-white cast Obama surrounded himself with in his work of fiction.

Comment by wac for hillary | 2008-06-25 11:08:40

Once again the troops are used as a political backdrop for a candidate who didn’t get within a thousand miles of a war zone. This guy does not need to be commander-in-chief.

Comment by yaz | 2008-06-25 11:28:52

was hillary in the military?

Comment by wac for hillary | 2008-06-25 11:59:01

I’m sorry, I thought you Obamabots said Hillary lost the primary. If so, why are you worried about Hillary’s military record?

Comment by yaz | 2008-06-25 17:11:18

i just figured based on your name (and where we are) that you would like to see hillary as president. IF that’s true, then i think it’s worth pointing out that she doesn’t actually fit the criteria that you just set up here for obama. if it’s not, my apologies.

Comment by wac for hillary | 2008-06-25 19:46:17

I absolutely would like to see Hillary as president. No, she wasn’t in the military; neither was Obama. Who do I feel could handle a crisis involving the military better between the two? Hillary obviously. She smart, he’s not. She works well under pressure, he doesn’t. She has an excellent grasp of the world’s problems as they relate to the U.S., Obama doesn’t have a clue. So, in short, would I rather have the most qualified candidate as commander-in-chief, or would I rather have an incompetent boob, who lies for a living? Once again, I would rather have Hillary.

Comment by Linda T | 2008-06-26 10:46:56

Yaz, Oblahmer also lied in his speech when he said his grandfather joined the military the day after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.
He didn’t join until June the following year.
I guess when you see dead people in an audience full of veterans, and crazy uncles freeing the Jews, anything is possible. This man is a liar and not fit to be Commander in Chief of our military. He is a freaking imposter at everything he goes about. He doesn’t give a flying shit about our troops. The only thing he has said that is the truth that I can tell is he didn’t vote for the war, but as seeing how great he thinks he is, I don’t understand why they didnt go to Chicago and ask for his opinion on that too.

Comment by Perry Logan | 2008-06-25 12:01:20

No, but I’m told she worked closely with the Commander in Chief for a while.

Now stop changing the subject.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-25 12:06:01

Hillary was the first Presidential wife to visit a combat zone since Eleanor Roosevelt, and everyone teased her about Snipergate.

Hillary has served on the Senate Armed Services Committee for the past five years… and she held meetings… and she passed her own bills for veterans.

She successfully passed her Heroes at Home legislation, which helps family members learn to support loved ones suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), identify ways to help Guardsmen and Reservists transition back to civilian jobs, and assess the mental health challenges — including PTSD — faced by members of the Guard and Reserve. Hillary’s initiative improves the detection, assessment and treatment of traumatic brain injury and expands support systems for members and former members of the Armed Services with traumatic brain injury and their families.

She passed legislation to increase the military survivor benefit from $12,000 to $100,000.

She created a health tracking system for all active duty personnel and Reservists to ensure that they receive regular check ups; and expanded access to military healthcare benefits (TRICARE) for all Guard and Reserve members whether they are on active duty or not in order to prevent another illness like Gulf War Syndrome.

She has secured funding for Veterans’ hospitals, and secured additional support for disabled veterans. She also successfully fought off the Administration’s proposal to double the co-payment for prescription drugs of certain veterans.

Hilary wrote to Postmaster General John Potter, and launched a petition on her website to urge the Postmaster General to continue issuing the Purple Heart stamp. Hundreds of people signed the petition which were then delivered to Postmaster General John Potter. As a result, the U.S. Postal Service decided to continue printing the Purple Heart Stamp despite the recent rate change.

In recognition of her efforts, the American Legion named Senator Clinton an “unsung hero” of the 108th congress for her leadership in securing record increases in funding for veterans health care.

God, I miss Hillary Clinton, and I hope she runs again in 2012.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-25 12:12:02

I remember when Obama wrote that stupid letter to the Secretary of Defense demanding his “swift response.” Of course, in the middle of two wars, this very busy man must drop everything and answer the Presidential candidate’s questions.

“What changes will you make to provide our soldiers in theater with real access to mental health care?”

“What training has the Pentagon provided our medical professionals in theater to recognize who might be at risk of committing suicide?”

“What assistance are you providing families here at home to recognize the risk factors for suicide, so that they may help our service members get the assistance they need?”

“What programs has the Pentagon implemented to help reduce the stigma attached to mental health concerns so that service members are more likely to seek appropriate care?”

Apparently, Obama was profoundly affected by the grandfather / uncle Navy / Army veteran who liberated Aushwitz / Buchenwald / ? and spent six months in the attic.

Comment by wac for hillary | 2008-06-25 12:28:36

Some poor overworked action officer in the Pentagon was probably blessed with the “opportunity” to answer Obama’s questions.

Misimpression like hid in the men’s room during the vote then claimed to vote for it like he did with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard resolution that he attacked Hillary for then told AIPAC he supported?

Only interested in legitimate polling services. We don’t care what NBC, CNN, The LA orNY Times os WSJ say. Ditto FOX news and Newsweek. And if you cite a poll, provide a link and say which one. All this “a new poll says” BS is getting really old. Tired of repeating it over and over and over.

1. If you cite an MSM poll that’s like saying the Enquirer proved there’s a Loch Ness Monster.

2. If you cite another poll, provide a link or say which poll you are citing and give the date.

Thanks you.

Comment by wac for hillary | 2008-06-25 11:15:34

They are even having to stretch the truth on that one, too. Is there anything Obama has told the truth about?

Comment by timepassages | 2008-06-25 12:00:22

No, i don’t think so. Today I posted on my website how many times he has “not showen up” to vote on Native American issues, however he told the Native Community that he would “help ” with issue, kind of hard to do, if you never show up to vote? I wonder how long his nose will be before November? !) 10 feet maybe?

Comment by zerostress | 2008-06-25 12:04:52

The truth is that she not only voted for the war (which is excusable)but adamantly refused to apologize about it (which is not) :

“If the most important thing to any of you is choosing someone who did not cast that vote or has said his vote was a mistake, then there are others to choose from,”

New York Times

Comment by wac for hillary | 2008-06-25 12:09:29

Once again, the Obamabots distort Hillary’s vote about the Iraq War. Why am I not surprised! Oh, and how did Obama vote on funding for the war? You know, the war he was so dead set against until he started the old flip flop routine.

Comment by zerostress | 2008-06-25 12:38:38

I did not checked but I guess he voted for.

You are woefully uninformed…

Comment by Leisa | 2008-06-25 12:32:34

Comment by zerostress | 2008-06-25 13:06:36

Interesting.

As I said in my previous post, voting for the war in Irak is excusable.

Refusing to admit her mistake is something else.

“By comparison, to the annoyance of Clinton advisers, Mr. Edwards has proved able to short-circuit questions about his own Senate vote for military action in 2002 by repeatedly calling it a mistake. He took a hard line against Iraq in 2002, then veered sharply in 2005 when he said he was wrong on the vote, and he has not suffered much politically.”

Same NYT article.

Comment by zerostress | 2008-06-25 13:22:15

In the interest of truth, I should also post this, also from the same NYT article :

“The internal campaign debate concluded in December when Mrs. Clinton decided not to apologize or give a speech. Instead, she went on the “Today” show and, in a little-noticed remark, simply said she would not vote for the Senate Iraq resolution again.”

Comment by Lyn | 2008-06-25 14:30:21

She also said it in a debate, BUT since you couldn’t be botherred to check Obama voting record after he was in the Senate, ….

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-25 13:47:00

You seem unable to understand that the vote was for allowing UN inspectors to remain in Iraq looking for WMD’s that falsified intel reports said existed.

It was not a vote for WAR. It was a vote allowing the President to send peace-keeping troops into the Middle East.

It was, in fact, a diplomatic resolution, and Bush lied. He went back on his word and abused the confidence placed in him by the US Congress.

No wonder you’re not stressed. You’re too stupid to understand what the oncoming headlights and the blaring horn means.

Comment by Lyn | 2008-06-25 14:39:18

you know what’s funny and WHY McCain will win? When ever anyone points out Obama’s faults, their immeadiate cry is still BUUT BUUTTT HILLARY… They are STILL fighting against Hillary, (because they know she should be the Nom) and can’t leave their Hillary hatred long enough to focus on either defending Obama (altho that is hard when he does undefensible things)or fighting McCain.

Comment by DoroB | 2008-06-25 18:57:05

That’s so true. Obama supporters are pathetic. They have nowhere to turn to because he has an empty record. They have nowhere to turn to because he lies. So they attack Hillary.

The rationale just reeks of Kool-aid, doesn’t it? It’s as if Hillary made Obama a lousy candidate.

For the millionth time — it wasn’t a “war vote”, it authorized bush to go to war with should all the diplomatic actions fail.

Before making misleading statements, find out the facts first! Read her speech to the Senate after the vote:

http://clinton.senate.gov/speeches/iraq_101002.html

Here’s an excerpt from her speech:

“I come to this decision from the perspective of a Senator from New York who has seen all too closely the consequences of last year’s terrible attacks on our nation. In balancing the risks of action versus inaction, I think New Yorkers who have gone through the fires of hell may be more attuned to the risk of not acting. I know that I am.

“So it is with conviction that I support this resolution as being in the best interests of our nation. A vote for it is not a vote to rush to war; it is a vote that puts awesome responsibility in the hands of our President and we say to him – use these powers wisely and as a last resort. And it is a vote that says clearly to Saddam Hussein – this is your last chance – disarm or be disarmed.”

She sounded presidential then too!

The Exelon legislation has to be the finest example of “shake down” legislation to come down the pike in a long, long time. Obama had no intention of passing legislation against Exelon. He used the whole scenario, and the anger of his constituents, to get his foot in the door with the energy corporations. It was all about securing donations and demonstrating to the big corporations that he is one of them. Upon reflection I’d have to say he is one of the worst Senators in U.S. history. Corrupt to the bone, ineffective in every measure and completely without principles.

guys I was on McCain’s site late last night. A young black woman from the south was on there and she was truly frightened. She said most of the people in her state (didn’t specify which one) wanted to vote for Huckabee. Bo ran a huge voter sign up campaign and made people feel special. BO won hands down. Now they are back down there. Running another sign up to vote. She says not to count on the south for McCain. The kool aid has set in. She is afraid to even say anything anymore. Which is why she was on McCain’s blog trying to get some help. We are going to have to really try to get workers in these areas with flyers or something. She said most don’t have computers in her area and think BO great for spending time with them, even in a surrogate fashion. She thinks from what she has heard the south will be all BO (I’ve heard others say on there they are afraid of what will happen if BO is not elected in certain states) Maybe we need to make sure some ads get placed in southern newspapers. Issues such as flip flops and higher taxes need to be addressed, as well as many others. These are hard working people, most of whom don’t have time to spend scouring the issues, but they are getting the talk by BO’s people. JMO

Talk about delusional. There is no way in Hell Obama will carry traditionally red states. Hillary could have taken some, but not BO. Don’t know what state she is talking about, but all the RNC needs to do is show Obama without his flag pin and Ayers wiping his feet on the flag. Once the RNC gets through with Obama, people will see him for the arrogant, inexperienced, accomplished liar that he is.

I had worried about my state newspaper for a while, because they weren’t attacking Obama yet. That changed this week. The main editorial cartoon showed two weather vanes with Obama’s head on top with the arrows pointing at each other, and the main editorial was titled “St. Barack’s latest descent: The long slow McGovern summer of B. Obama”. Let the games begin!

I’ll tell you what. I live in a large metropolitan area of Louisiana. There is an Army base south of here and Barksdale AF Base in the north. I’m a life-long Dem in a SEA of Repugs. The Dem Party is not even represented here – no # even in the phone book.

So if Baracula thinks he’s going to pick up some red states – let him go for it. He is wasting his time and millions of his dollars.

Every “Joe Bob” in the piney woods of La. will come out for McCain in the GE. Don’t you know, that’s why La. went Repug? Because the young and old racists here (oops, did I say that word?) believe the Dem Party is the Black Party.

Bill Clinton is the ONLY Dem that won this state in the past 40 years, in ‘92.

Unless you live in the South, you have no clue. I love it when the Boston pundits talk about the “new South.” They don’t know their a$$ from a a hole in the ground. Nothing has changed here. Only AAs will vote for Obamessiah in this state and they make up 1/3 of the vote. The Radical One is going to take the most radical beating of his political career in La. and Mississippi.

Hillary or McCain ‘08!

Gosh the nobamabots must be desperate that they are trying to spread rumors of things being “bad” in the south for mccain. That too after giving up ohio and florida! This one trait of Obama offends me the most. I agree with Larry on his recent public discussion that Hillary made it clear she would not take positions that she would then later have to abandon. That’s good judgment.

Obama obviously does this. Liar boy now has a problem. It’s his problem. He’s making an idiot of Pelosi, too. See her interview with Greta as she purports he has good judgment.

But back to the issue of flip-flopping, it too much more leadership and integrity to refuse to play the insider game of making promises you have no intention of keeping.

And I’m offended that this is acceptable behavior today on a national scale.

Why bother to have campaigns, then? If it’s all bs, DON’T WASTE OUR TIME!

And, for GOD’S sakes, stop wasting our money.

Obama has ripped off many, many doners who really can’t afford to give. For what? Lies?

That’s unethical.

From Crooks and Liars, in regard to McCain, and HIS Russian ties, in conjunction with HIS faux policy stands:

The story also raises the possibility that Davis’ firm may have violated the anti-espionage Foreign Agents Registration Act, by failing to register work for Yanukovich with the U.S. government.

According to Salon, this is not the only campaign personnel with Russian ties:

As president, McCain says he would back up his tough talk with equally aggressive policies. He wants to kick Russia out of the Group of 8, the organization of the world’s leading industrial powers. McCain has also long been a proponent of quickly expanding NATO to include former Soviet allies like Georgia. Russia bristles at the notion of the Western military alliance encroaching on her border. “Rather than tolerate Russia’s nuclear blackmail or cyber attacks,” McCain said in a March speech, “Western nations should make clear that the solidarity of NATO, from the Baltic to the Black Sea, is indivisible.”

This kind of talk — in particular the call to oust Russia from the G-8 — has given pause to seasoned experts on that part of the world, who tend to emphasize engagement with Russia. McCain’s harsh rhetoric and tough proposals led Newsweek’s Fareed Zakaria to write an April column titled “McCain’s Radical Foreign Policy.” If McCain were to pursue his Russia agenda as president, Zakaria wrote, it would be interpreted by much of the world as an “attempt by Washington to begin a new Cold War.”

But the sound of sabers rattling is music to the ears of Randy Scheunemann, the McCain campaign’s senior foreign policy and national security advisor. A long-term confidant of the candidate, Scheunemann also supports a very tough stance toward Russia. Unlike McCain, until very recently he was paid to support that stance. McCain, already under fire for the role of lobbyists in his campaign, is taking his foreign policy advice from someone who was a paid lobbyist for former Soviet Bloc countries that are wary of Russia, and seems to advocate those policies the countries and their former lobbyist want. Notably, McCain supports a quick expansion of NATO, and Scheunemann has already helped two former Soviet satellites gain admission to NATO and has worked on behalf of two others. Until early this year, Scheunemann was simultaneously working for the McCain campaign and as a lobbyist for a shifting menu of Eastern European and former Soviet Bloc countries with NATO aspirations.

I fail to see why one Marxist is preferable to another, and I have no intention of supporting those who would put the PAID agents of an enemy of state (Russia, Russian satellite countries) in the Oval Office…

It’s comparable to being in the closet, isn’t it?

“I’m not a gay man, but I like to fuck men.”

“I’m a true blue American, but I surround myself with men who act as paid agents for the Russian government, and who cares that I’ve had business meetings with stated (Russian) enemies of America, meetings my lobbyist in chief, their PAID representative, arranged.”

If I’m going to excoriate Obama, and I am, I will not be hypocritical, and excuse McCain’s crew.

No conflict of interest here, no, none at all..

Jeez, people, really, OIL is not the currency of treason, and the gay man who likes to fuck men isn’t gay, really.

Why, he’s married…

He has done this from the start of the campaign. He is a master at words. He has only sponsored two bills that have become laws, but his followers think that he has done so much more due to his camp sending out an email to them listing some bills that he claims he worked on. In the email he uses catch phrases such as “helped push through” and “join the democrats in supporting”. Basically he claims repsonsibility for the bills because he was part of senate. Its insane how all these supporters of his are so educated, but yet, it appears they skipped reading comprehension.

——————————————-
FROM THE MAILBAG – from the Democratic Party

Our unprecedented primary season helped build our infrastructure in all 50 states — not just for Barack Obama, but for all of the Democratic candidates.

Now it’s time to bring all of that energy together around our common goal of change.

Obama for America is launching a nationwide day of action this Saturday, June 28th, called “Unite for Change.” Across the country, Democrats who supported all of the candidates in the primary — and those who are just tuning in now — will come together to focus on party unity and victory in November.

There are more than 3,000 events in all 50 states — find a Unite for Change house meeting near you and RSVP today:

http://my.barackobama.com/democratsunited

House meetings are a great way to get to know your fellow Democrats and help build a united volunteer organization in neighborhoods all across the country.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been with Barack since the beginning, if you supported another candidate in the primary, or if you’re just getting involved now — our goal is to reach out to anyone who is tired of the politics of the past and looking for new solutions to the challenges we’re facing.

Democrats like you have already signed up to host events and talk about the common values we share. All you need to do is show up on Saturday — and maybe bring a friend or two.

Comment by Dean in Mi | 2008-06-25 12:13:04

Please make sure you spread the word about this.

I don’t know how large the numbers are for people who can see through the BS of Senator Obama but I am praying there is enough of us. We had better hope so.

Anyway, I don’t want to preach to the choir but I share the main view here that Senator Obama is NOT qualified or fit to be OUR president. Although I am not on board with everything McCain stands for, I am most assuredly against Obama. If that makes me a racist bigot, I will have to find a way to live with my bitter clingy self… Thank you all for showing me that I am not alone.

John McCain seems like the guy who brings over the spare sump pump, when the basement floods – again; he’s a guy who joins the fish fry crew during Lent at St. Tiberius; the man who drops off non-nose bleed tickets for the Bears/Vikings game, because ‘he can’t use them;’ the gentleman setting up the chairs for the morning and evening services at New Pisgah Church; the authority on indirect heat grilling who slow cooks the ribs without making a federal case of the fact; McCain has the chain-saw when the tree comes down in your yard; the neighbor who quietly lets you know that your 8th grade cheerleader Vickey was smoking at the Mall and you might want to ask her about the pack Camel Menthols in her Louis Vuitton knock-off purse; he walks his cousin suffering from Alzheimer’s to Keegan’s Pub for a half/half every Sunday; he’s the quiet gent doing an extra lap around the rosary in the back of St. Gabe’s before he stops by the Our Flag Club for the wide-screen Bears opener party. He’s the best guy in every neighborhood.

So much for the politics of change. But he has the money to shove these deceptive ads down the throats of gullible voters without anyone else being able to buy the time to refute the lies. In a way the republicans deserve this because for years they did the same ugly thing while the democrats were flailing to catch up in fund-raising. However the country loses because the system that brought us one horribly unqualified, deceptive, and incompetent republican president is now geared to muscle in another unqualified and deceptive president; this time a democrat.

The incompetence remains to be seen. But going by Obama’s uninspired achievements as senator, and the precedence of Deval Patrick’s incompetence as governor of MA, which shows the limits of flowering rhetoric coupled with a lack of action, this won’t be long time in coming.

The fact that the American people would consider blindly electing someone based on rhetoric and projection of a fantasy after 8 long-suffering years under another unqualified chump, who was anything but a uniter, speaks very poorly for our democracy. Truly people get the leadership that they deserve!

Say, I see where they just arrested some slime balls who were going to blow up Kennedy airport. Maybe we should have Barky “talk” to them with no preconditions.

Please don’t let them be Iranians; Bush seems to be looking for one more good fight at our expense.

Comment by Dawnelle | 2008-06-25 12:40:50

wouldn’t it be hilarious if GW (out of his typical spite) would start with drawing troops to piss off McCain & Barky who seem hell bent on keeping them there in-fking-definitely!

I would change my opinion of Junior. That I would.

Wow, getting your “facts” from fox? how far you’ve fallen.

Does that explain the LA Times poll as well?

The truth is, despite your efforts, when polled, people are self identifying as democrats v. republicans v. independent about 40/30/30, so a proper poll would be weighted as such.

I have a question, if Obama chose Clinton as VP, would your smears stop?

Comment by Dawnelle | 2008-06-25 12:43:03

a smear is a lie right?

no smears here dear

and I’d have to think long and hard about Hillary as VP

I couldn’t tell you today – about that one in NOV. (right now I’m leaning NO)

Comment by Linda T | 2008-06-26 11:36:37

Smear? What don’t you people understand as the truth? Do you ever ever check out what people are saying, Oh I know, you’re one of the paid smear stopping bloggers. Since when is the truth smears? No, we don’t want Hillary on his ticket.Remember, he doesn’t need us or Hillary? He is on his freaking own. Remember, you all said he would need food tasters if they got elected and she was VP or how about the assassination? She needs to let him sink on his own, cause he’s gonna do it.

Newsweek’s a joke … they’re so far up BOBO’s butt is not even funny.

I think all Hillary supporters should do 2 things…
1) Make a self-honored pact to either vote for McCain or sit it out altogether, and
2) Send a clear message to Hillary to reject a VP offer if one is extended to her.

Barack Obama is a corrupt power-hungry politician with zero integrity, and I think we are better off with McCain until ‘12.

Apparently he is losing fans among his core voters too.

Check out this article from The Black Agenda Report’s website.

Obama’s campaign finance comments are pretty damn disingenuous: not exactly the “straight shooter” talk he claims to represent.

But it’s hardly the first Obama deception to date – not by a long shot. Here (below) are some of the bigger examples of stark dishonesty I’ve discovered in the process of writing a book on the Obama phenomenon and U.S. political culture.

Here is the link to the whole article:

could the music get any whiter? The people surrounding him any whiter?

First he makes a point of being “black” (Florida), then goes begging for the white vote.

[...] But that changed when, according to Time Magazine, Senator Obama began “listening politely” to the “honchos” and the “assorted Democrats, especially some high-powered money people” who were encouraging him to run. Does this seem like an example of “honesty with the American people?” [...]

You know, when the campaigns started, I was taken by Obama. I thought, hmmm maybe this a leader I could really support. It didn’t take long to figure out he just doesn’t have the integrity or character to have my support. In fact he is downright scary. He says whatever is expedient to say. Personally I think his core values are what we see pouring out of that fine Christian Church of his. Not to mention he pouts like a 12 year old diva when he doesn’t get his way and win. I hope people wake up and start paying attention to his very frequent ‘repositioning’ before we end up with him in the White House.

I enjoy reading the articles and most of the posts. There is going to be a full page placed in newspapers from Hillary Clinton Supporters voting for John McCain, telling the DNC, Obama, Pelosi et al what they can expect in November. Have any of you visited http://www.hcsfjm.com ? The 70,000+ members of this web site are former Clinton supporters now voting for McCain or threatening to stay home. My 92 year old mother has more sense than these Obama followers….she picked up on his lies and deceitful speeches immediately. My mother has always voted democratic, but not this time. She told me this morning, ‘Obama is a dangerous man and surrounds himself with dangerous people. You tell’m Mama!

Hi Kids.

It’s me again.

The last time a “pledged” to anything was 43 years ago when I raised my right hand and stated the following:

I, Jean Q. Publique, do solemnly swear, that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me Buddha.

And that “pledge” is still in effect to the day I die as far as I am concerned.

Now the rest of you fine folks, if it makes feel all warm and fuzzy, can step right up and follow the blind leading the blind and be good little soldiers and soldierettes and sign that meaningless pledge at iownmyvote_but_someone_else_owns_my_soul.com.

The primary leaders of the blind leading the blind certainly do need a clearing house for those of the herd mentality to be recognized, counted, categorized and duly sworn and shorn of their sheep’s wool. (and it surely won’t hurt if they place a trojan horse in your files)

And BTW … Ever heard the tune “Liberty”?

Saw a bird with a tear in his eye
Walking to New Orleans my oh my
Hey, now, Bird, wouldn’t you rather die
Than walk this world when you’re born to fly?

If I was the sun, I’d look for shade
If I was a bed, I would stay unmade
If I was a river I’d run uphill
If you call me you know I will
If you call me you know I will

Ooo, freedom
Ooo, liberty
Ooo, leave me alone
To find my own way home
To find my own way home

Say what I mean and I don’t give a damn
I do believe and I am who I am
Hey now Mama come and take my hand
Whole lotta shakin’ all over this land

If I was an eagle I’d dress like a duck
Crawl like a lizard and honk like a truck
If I get a notion I’ll climb this tree
or chop it down and you can’t stop me
Chop it down and you can’t stop me

Ooo, freedom
Ooo, liberty
Ooo, leave me alone
To find my own way home
To find my own way home

Went to the well but the water was dry
Dipped my bucket in the clear blue sky
Looked in the bottom and what did I see?
The whole damned world looking back at me

If I was a bottle I’d spill for love
Sake of mercy I’d kill for love
If I was a liar I’d lie for love
Sake of my baby I’d die for love
Sake of my baby I’d die for love

Ooo, freedom
Ooo, liberty
Ooo, leave me alone
To find my own way home
To find my own way home
I’m gonna find my own way home

Tom Bevan:

Since the end of the Democratic primary the $64,000 question has been, “how many Hillary Clinton supporters were so disappointed and disillusioned by the outcome that they won’t support Obama and will cross over and vote for John McCain this fall?”

“…the most recent Fox News and Newsweek polls drilled down to focus on how Hillary Clinton primary voters are indicating they will vote in November.
“As you can see, relative to the pool of all Democrats respondents, support for Obama among this subset falls by 13 and 11 percent, respectively, while support for McCain rises 7 percent in both…”

“…data from Quinnipiac’s recent swing state survey that gives us some indication of how Clinton primary voters in Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are feeling. As you can see, Florida closely mirrors the national numbers but the trend is more pronounced in Pennsylvania and especially Ohio, where the net change (drop in support for Obama/increase in support for McCain) reaches 22 and 29 points respectively…”

“…it should give the Obama campaign a bit of a pause to see that, at least for the moment, one in four Democrats who voted for Hillary Clinton in the primaries in both Ohio and Pennsylvania indicate they will crossover to vote for McCain in the fall.”

Why doesn’t that sexist Yaz go on the ObaMyopic blog and discriminate his little ole prejudiced, misogynist blinded by Hillary-hatred heart out!

Yaz, have you been outside volley practice when you were in Vietnam? Or were you in Cyprus for the UN troops when Obama was singing “Puff the Magic Dragon” to the troops…
