Obama Changes Position on Public Financing

Barack Obama throughout his Presidential campaign has pledged that he would accept public financing in the general Presidential election. He stated he believed that a publicly financed campaign would reduce the influence of special interest.

Obama has now announced that he will reject the 84 million dollars in public financing and will use private financing in his campaign. Barack Obama always does what is in Obama’s best interest. It appears Obama believes he can buy the Presidency with his fundraising abilities. It should be noted that the Democratic Party trails the Republican Party in fundraising by several million dollars. While Obama has been raking in millions, the parties Democratic fundraising has suffered. Recently, it has been announced that the upcoming Democratic Presidential Convention has a 15 million dollar shortfall in funding. Maybe, Obama can give the Democratic Party a loan.

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean have threatened to intervene in the Democratic Presidential Primary by making the Super Delegates announce who they support now. You know in analyzing the situation Reid, Pelosi, and Dean are three spineless Bozos. They have provided weak leadership and now the whackos want to intervene in the national election. Hey Bozos- What about Iraq, gas prices, the budget and where is my damn national health insurance? I really don’t know where the Democratic Party is headed. It has been taken over by weak knee whips and bunch of damn Daily Kos, Moveon preppies.

Hillary Clinton with her toughness could take Reid, Pelosi, Dean, and the sissies at Daily Kos, Moveon.org in the backroom and kick their ass. I am really quite fed up with the party and I am close to becoming an Independent.

Wonderful, thank you Harriet for being you. The reason we cannot vote for Obama is not mere bitterness, we are thinking of voters in future elections. We need to send a message that stealing delegates when your name was not on the ballot, that bullying delegates in Texas, bullying caucuses, will not be rewarded. We also need to send a message to the party leadership not to put their thumbs on the scales for the less experienced candidate just because you want access to his donor list for fundraising purposes.

I was also proud to hear that you are a waitress — given the crass stereotyping of working people as benighted clingers by Obama and his supporters, it’s great to hear a working person speak with such eloquence and intelligence about this election. As you said, one doesn’t need a PhD to realize what’s going on.

Thank you Herriet and larry for the great interview. Herriet, I was at the RBC meeting also. I wasn’t in inside the meeting, but watched it from the hotel. I also attended the rally outside the hotel.

The fact that rigged presidential elections have become common place should alarm everyone. It was bad enough when only one party was doing it, but now both parties are rigging elections brazingly. It seems like the end of domocracy to me, and a frightening move towards fascism. The public participation in the political process has been for all intent and purposes removed. The poeple no longer choose our presidents. Our votes don’t count!!!!! The last time the people voted in a president was Bill Clinton’s second presidential election. Since then it has been dirty!! WE THE PEOPLE HAVE TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE!!

I like how any sort of scenario where Obama does some kind of gesture automatically sets off her BS detector. It really is clear as day that Obama acts out of political convenience and she says quite correctly that anything where he reaches out is not in his character. It’s quite refreshing to hear someone like Harriet who can speak her mind and as larry has said, “calls it as she sees it”.

Larry Johnson is one of my all-time favorite guys because of his brains. Loved this interview, as it revealed things about both speakers. Larry, I’m grateful you haven’t flipped this blog over to yet another ‘obama-is-our-nominee-oh-well’ capitulation.

America has wasted untold wealth, futures, and almost an entire decade to Bush’s incompetence and inexperience. Now we’re being asked to hit the repeat button, only the song remains the same, different cover band. Oy. As Harriet stated, I won’t waste my vote on obama here in Missouri. I’ll work hard to make sure he doesn’t and in time, make sure that Claire McCaskill is a one-term senator.

That was a fantastic interview! I loved the points that both Harriet and Larry made. Harriet impresses me every time she speaks. She has such a huge amount of knowledge, common sense, and people smarts. And did I mention bravery and courage??? As Larry mentioned, she’s not expressing her opinion in an anonymous forum, but in the open market for all to see. That’s pretty gutsy.

Wow, that was great! Hillary and Harriet are the kind of women I aspire to be: strong, informed and articulate.

That was a real treat, listening to Harriet AND Larry! I’ve been reading Larry’s blog for so long, it was nice to hear a voice to go with the words (even though I’ve seen and heard clips from TV, somehow the long interview was better!)

I agree with Deep Truths. The MSM is not getting important information out to the people- especially in this case about Obama. I have also noticed that they are already starting to treat McCain the exact same way they treated Hillary. I feel like we are losing our democracy. Corporations are taking over what we hear on the news. The press no longer belongs to the people- they have largely lost their moral responsibility to objectively inform the public. Instead they belong to corporations with agendas. These agendas result in biased selection and reporting of news stories. It is becoming more and more apparent that something must be done to change the direction of the news media before all we hear is propaganda. If anyone knows a way to enhance our communication networks, you will be doing a great service to America. We cannot allow this to continue.

Harriet stronlgy articulated the reasons we can’t support Obama. After the FL/MI incident, she could have crawled into the fetal position and kept her mouth shut. But, she didn’t. She stoood tall and told the truth. Good for her!

We need more people like you, Harriet and Larry. I visit No Quarter 3-4 times a day for daily therapies. I have been scratching my head for a long time, why in the world there are still so many people who are supporting Obama? Sometimes, I feel like “am I missing something?”. I did my homework and learned about Obama. I simply can’t vote for him. I will go crazy without No Quarter, Larry. We still have 2 months before the convention….hope God is our side.

I lived outside the country for all of Ronald Reagan’s years in the White House, but decided to read something of his history when he died. He is revered by Republicans, an icon and the Iran Contra scandal has seldom been discussed and when it is, no blame is laid at his feet even though he almost certianly knew.

I was happy to hear your discussion of Pres. Clinton because it has been so disturbing to hear all the negative remarks. His approval rating at the time he left the White House was 65%, Reagan’s was 61%. It must give the Republicans a great deal of satisfaction to watch his own party try to destroy his legacy and do what they were unable to do.

I went to the consulate in the country where I was working and voted twice for Carter simply because he was a Democrat. I was back home for the Clinton years and voted for him the first time because he was a Democrat and the second time because he was a great president.

It is hard to understand why Obama has been allowed by Democrats to undermine a president, common sense should tell them, is their greatest asset. The price they will pay is greater than they could possibly imagine when members of their own party are ready to vote for the opposition.

Thanks to you both for bringing this back to the attention of those who have forgotten what party unity is really about.

A couple percent more for him in Iowa in that primary and he would have been the nominee. So, do some research before you speak fools. You are embarassing yourselves. I hate misinformed people. After Johansson claimed an email relationship with presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, Obama publicly threw her under a bus. “I write saying, ‘Thank you, Scarlett, for doing what you do.’ And suddenly we have this email relationship.”

Obama won fair and square, stop being a sore loser. He is the presumptive nominee, so move on and get over it. It time to unify the party and rally around the nominee. Hillary is doing it, so why can’t her supporters follow the lead. Stop being selfish and being a crying baby when you don’t get your way.

I just listened to the interview with Harriet. I was at the meeting also, and commend her for her outspoken voice. I also wanted to get up and respond, but she said it all! I also believe and know that there is more to this. It definetly is a conspirency. Larry. Thanks for the interview and for pointing out the attempt by Obama to tear down Bill Clinton. With major help from Donna Brazille and Clyburn of SC, Obama tarnished the Clinton’s reputation with false charges of racism. This devious act began the fall in her extremely high poll numbers of a 20 to 30 point lead and her 65% lead among blacks. Obama won IA, lost NH, lost Nevada, he had to win SC or risk being out of the race. You see if he could not win this state with its predominately black democratic primary voters he would have been toast. The only way he could do this is by prying the black votes from Hillary’s hand. Thus he made his false racial charges (Jessie Jackson won SC said at 10:00 AM, etc.) knowing that blacks would become incensed and take it out on Hillary. His plan worked. It also made some pseudo-white intellects angry too. YOU SEE THE SO-CALLED BLACK MAN MADE A FOOL OUT OF BLACK PEOPLE.

As a black woman, I detest him for playing race-based politics like George Wallace. May his soul rest in hell for what he did in trying to destroy one of the best presidents blacks ever had.
