Bill Ayers would be so proud

ayersflag.jpg

The so far left that they forgot what is right wing of the Democratic party has taken a new tact. They have decided that they don’t really have a problem with swiftboating after all. Just as long as the shoe is on the other foot. And Republicans are the ones wearing it. Starting this week they are coming out in droves to paint John McCain, a decorated war hero, as a traitor and a war criminal. And gosh wouldn’t you know it, some people even posted their drivel on Barack Obama’s website.

Here’s a screenshot of one of my favorites. Change you can believe in type stuff if you ask me. Strictly new politics. No doubt about it.

missbunnyblog.jpg

And just in case you couldn’t quite make out the poster here is an enlarged view for your viewing pleasure.

mccain-poster.jpg

You gotta figure that Obama friend and confident Bill Ayers is having wet dreams over all of this. It’s everything he has “hoped” for since he quit bombing government buildings. He is probably pulling out new American flags to stomp on as you read this.

But placing this crap on Obama’s website was just a start. A trial run you might say. The way out there and completely inappropriately titled blog Americablog took deception to a whole new level.

Some on left target McCain’s war record

“A lot of people don’t know… that McCain made a propaganda video for the enemy while he was in captivity,” wrote Americablog’s John Aravosis. “Putting that bit of disloyalty aside, what exactly is McCain’s military experience that prepares him for being commander in chief?”

“Getting shot down, tortured, and then doing propaganda for the enemy is not command experience,” Aravosis wrote in the blog post, entitled “Honestly, besides being tortured, what did McCain do to excel in the military?”

I seriously wonder if Mr. Aravosis has ever been tortured. And I wonder if he knows the limits as to what a person will put up with until they crack. He apparently lives in some fantasy world where he believes that people like Jack Bauer actually exist. Maybe Superman is real in Mr. Avarosis’s distorted world but for the rest of us that live in a little place called reality we know with certainty that people have limits despite what the movies tell us.

John McCain’s campaign was understandably shaken by what was said about him. After all, he came to John Kerry’s defense when people from his own party attacked his patriotism.

“The American people know that John McCain’s record of service and sacrifice is not a matter of debate. He has written about and discussed his service as a POW extensively—often in excruciating and painful detail,” said McCain spokesman Brian Rogers. “The American people will judge harshly anyone who demeans or attacks that service.”

In fact McCain has never claimed that he did not crack under torture. He admitted it freely.

“I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine,” he later wrote.

But he later defied his captors by refusing to meet with anti-war delegations from abroad, he wrote, and also refused the most valuable special treatment he was offered: Early release.

“I did not want to go out of order,” he later wrote. He was finally released on March 14, 1973.

But far be it from the fringe left to admit that they are wrong about anything. Their solution to mistakes is to compound them. And what better place to demonstrate how far out they really are but the Huff and Puff Huffington Post.

In a Huffington Post blog, a former editor of Mother Jones magazine, Jeffrey Klein, called—in tones reminiscent of right-wing attacks on Kerry in 2004—on McCain to release elements of his Navy record that the candidate has not made available to the public or the press.

“Some of the unreleased pages in McCain’s Navy file may not reflect well upon his qualifications for the presidency,” he wrote. As to why, Klein speculated that “From day one in the Navy, McCain screwed-up again and again, only to be forgiven because his father and grandfather were four-star admirals.”

Not to be outdone Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin chimed in too. Unsatisfied just protesting the current war in Iraq, Benjamin wants to refight a war that has been over for 3 decades.

“I wouldn’t characterize anybody who fought in Vietnam as a war hero,” said Medea Benjamin, a co-founder of the theatrical anti-war group Code Pink. “In 23 bombing sorties, there must have been civilians that were killed and there’s no heroism to that.”

“Anyone who can’t look back and admit how wrong it was to be in Vietnam and be killing civilians deserves to be challenged,” she said, though she stressed that her group is more focused on McCain’s present support for the war in Iraq than on his past.

At least some on the left have a little sense left. Even after all that bad acid. Tom Hayden is one such lone dissenter.

“I know and like McCain,” Tom Hayden, a former California State Senator and prominent anti-war activist, told Politico in an email. “From my own perspective and that of many anti-war activists of that era, the fact that he bombed North Vietnam some 25 times, probably killing civilians, gets blurred with the facts that he suffered through that long prison ordeal, then also went on to promote diplomatic relations between the two countries.”

“It’s like asking a guy that served his jail term here—you’d say he’s done his time so that’s behind him,” Hayden said.

But another supporter of Barack Obama isn’t quite so forgiving. No, you might say she goes a little overboard. But lots of Cultists do that. Please notice the date on her blog. This has been up for nearly a month now. All the while Obama is calling McCain “a genuine American hero” and claiming that he is running a clean campaign. And she uses the same type of line that Jay Rockefeller used toward John McCain. Disgusting words that he had to retract immediately.

“What happened when they [the missiles] get to the ground?” he asked. “He doesn’t know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues.”

warcriminal.jpg

So this is what we have to look forward to coming from the leftist radicals that support Barack Obama. Barky can claim all the new politics nonsense he wants. And he can pretend like he is running a clean campaign. But where is his leadership when his supporters have clearly crossed over a line that we all decided back in 2004 needed to be drawn? What’s that Barky? Perhaps I need a hearing aid.

The Obama-supporting blogs have been swift-boating McCain for some time now. He is far from perfect. But when the Obama supporters make up lies about McCain, it says more about Obama than it does about McCain.

Heart breaking. Totally heartbreaking to bring up that famous picture of Viet Nam. Obama will stop at nothing. The people of viet nam were saved until America bailed out and left. Anyone who served in Viet Nam was a hero regardless.
Obama disgusts me.
Many helicopters were shot down. War is a fact of life. Shame on you Barack Obama. Using a picture that is nearly 40 years old is unacceptable..Shame on you.

Yes, moreover Phan Thị Kim Phúc publicly forgave Rev. Plummer, a US serviceman who after seeing the photograph, believed that he had helped coordinate the raid with the South Vietnamese air force.
Phúc was used for propaganda by the Vietnamese govt after the war but was allowed to study in Cuba. Instead she defected to Canada and is now a Canadian citizen, with a perfect score on her citizenship test.
She is also a UNESCO goodwill ambassador. She has given a speech at the Vietnamese Memorial on Veteran’s Day. She has received the Order of Ontario for her work to aid child war victims.
In sum: she is far more a patriot than those misappropriating her image.

My most beloved Uncle was drafted into that war. It scarred him for life. He was haunted and changed after he served.

To call this man (who was a gentleman before and after the war),and any who served our country at that time, a criminal because they served our country is the last ans final insult I will take from these idiots.

You can bet your a** it will. They have opened the door so Republicans can walk through with impunity. How completely stupid they are. Obama isn’t the nominee of the Democratic Party until the vote at the convention, but his supporters have shown over and over again an arrogance and willingness to wallow in the mud. If he isn’t aware of this, his campaign would be doing him a great favor by informing him. If he doesn’t put a stop to this, it will guarantee Republicans will have a reason to be angry enough to go to the polls in November. This is a pattern of his. Let your supporters make the attack, make a tepid apology and the game goes on.

Comment by DAB | 2008-06-30 20:16:37

I agree that it will backfire. The McCain camp seems to realize this and are beginning to use it against BO (I call him “Stinky”) because they feel that they are stepping over the line and making themselves look real bad. Wonder if John Kerry will defend John McCain? Don’t hold your breath!

It’s really sad to me that the best Obamabots can do now is try to destroy McCain when discussing this election. They can’t come up with anything good to say about Obama so now they are after McCain. So much for being above “politics as usual.”

I guess a smear is OK as long as it’s against a Republican? What hypocrisy.

Comment by Mike J. | 2008-06-30 18:05:01

What really gets me is that they think this is actually going to help Obama who was last seen scurrying for cover from the controversy.

Comment by PaganPower | 2008-06-30 18:28:29

Obama’s surrogates are free to make any association they like as long as it cannot be directly linked to Obama. That way Obama can pretend to take the high road.

Comment by wac for hillary | 2008-06-30 18:59:13

How many times is this guy going to get away with this? Surely, there is at least one honest journalist left in this country who will out Obama for what he is–a wannabe emperor definitely with no clothes.

Comment by MaryPat | 2008-06-30 21:39:58

He may be an emperor with no clothes, but he does have “clean hands.” Send out the surrogates to do their worst, then step up to disavow their remarks and look like Mr. Above-It-All. Slick. Machiavelli could learn a thing or two from this operator.

For someone who claims to have turned the page on the “old politics,” he sure does play the game like an expert. Of course, he did study Corrupt Politics 101 with the very best–or would that be worst?–in Chicago.

When, when, WHEN is the MSM going to wake up?

Comment by Leisa | 2008-06-30 20:54:29

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-30 18:20:38

And McCain defended Kerry against the Swiftboat ads. Kerry spent about 4 months is the service and called himself a war hero. He also published a photo of those with whom he served saying they all supported his presidential aspirations which was a complete untruth and he was forced to withdraw that picture as only one of those men supported him. John Kerry never released his war records, either.

Comment by Mary | 2008-06-30 20:26:17

Yeah.

Not only that, but while they’re screaming about not “trashing” Michelle Obama, they’re busy trashing Cindy McCain.

It’s really despicable.

OB just came out and “reprimanded” Wesley Clark for making some of these talking points. (MSM is reporting) Seems the MSM needs to look at his website as well. McCain camp needs to have MSM checkout his website — major inconsistency on OB part.

Comment by grlpatriot | 2008-06-30 18:02:40

The good cop bad cop routine was planned. Have Clark go out into the gutter, then have Obama come out as Mr. Clean. He is anything but. I have lost respect for Clark now! Gross.

Comment by let them eat change | 2008-06-30 18:08:21

Either way. It could backfire as someone said above. Just show OB’s comments against the website ad. This is the backfire. Everything, every bit of it is documented.

Comment by wac for hillary | 2008-06-30 19:03:20

I’m with you. You’d think as many times as Obama has used this routine somebody would catch on. And I too used to respect Clark; I really thought he was a man of honor. I guess Clark’s political ambitions trump common decency. Shame on him.

Comment by DAB | 2008-06-30 20:20:58

Used to like Wesley Clark too — but no longer. Strange how so many people I once respected have exposed themselves as total asses. I guess BO has that effect on others — makes everyone connected to him stink!

Comment by BernieO | 2008-06-30 18:46:25

The only thing wrong with what Clark said is that his criticism remarks about McCain could also be said about Obama. Clark praised McCains service and said he had been a hero to him and many others. The Republicans would be smarter to go after this stuff on Obama’s website.
I cannot imagine just how nasty this campaign will be. Obviously the Obama people are willing to be just as nasty and unfair as the Republicans always are so we are now at their level. How’s that for progress?

‘Hanoi Hilton’ jailer says he’d vote for McCain

HAIPHONG, Vietnam - John McCain has an unusual endorsement — from the Vietnamese jailer who says he held him captive for about five years as a POW and now considers him a friend.

“If I were an American voter, I would vote for Mr. John McCain,” Tran Trong Duyet said Friday, sitting in his living room in the northern city of Haiphong, surrounded by black-and-white photos of a much younger version of himself and former Vietnam War prisoners

People who’ve never feared for their lives castigate John McCain and rejoice that BO is “anti-war.” We know BO is an empty suit, he’s anti-experience, anti-thinking, anti-integrity.

I wonder how anti-war people would be if someone threatened their lives, the lives of their children, or for BO’s lot, even their Ipods…

BO is attempting to seduce conservatives with his new defense of McCain. He’s moving to the center because his handlers are measuring the demographics.

Victor Hanson is a conservative writer for the conservative NRO. NONETHELESS, he nails it. As Tomasky brags, Obama will say anything to get elected.

Equal Pay For Women: Barack Obama Says One Thing and Does Another….Again

The average pay for the 33 men on Obama’s staff (who earned more than $23,000, the lowest annual salary paid for non-intern employees) was $59,207. The average pay for the 31 women on Obama’s staff who earned more than $23,000 per year was $48,729.91. (The average pay for all 36 male employees on Obama’s staff was $55,962; and the average pay for all 31 female employees was $48,729. The report indicated that Obama had only one paid intern during the period, who was a male.)

McCain, an Arizona senator, employed a total of 69 people during the reporting period ending in the fall of 2007, but 23 of them were interns. Of his non-intern employees, 30 were women and 16 were men. After excluding interns, the average pay for the 30 women on McCain’s staff was $59,104.51. The 16 non-intern males in McCain’s office, by comparison, were paid an average of $56,628.83.

Only if you pay more dues to a couple who have $107 million in the bank. Her campaign is still in $20 million of debt. Small businesses and her staffers are the ones owed the money by Clinton - unfortunately not the likes of Penn.

If PUMA was anything more than a sick RNC front her campaign debt would be finished. I guess clearing it will be up to Obama just as clearing the national debt will be up to him.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-30 19:51:42

She already has the money to pay off her debt. She put away 40 million for the GE that goes to that after the convention, if she doesn’t get the nomination. People here have contributed to her debt, though.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-06-30 19:55:43

And Penn’s debt still remains unsettled, and he says he is not worried about being repaid. And the small businesses who are waiting for their payment are no strangers to campaigns and happy for the business. And the Clintons made their combined $107 million over the past decade. It isn’t a crime, last I heard.

I don’t care who they are pointing their poisonous lies at. But in this case, Obama is asking for a slap upside that arrogant tater of his and he — as they say in Texas — is fixin’ to get it, I reckon.

Uppity

GF you finally said something about BHO that is truly SCARY!!! (for me)

“Drunk with power”
is so REAL and BHO has it. THAT is scary indeed. And so are his minions btw, remember, much like how W and his inner cabal was in the beginning.

nope they gotta GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Someone should remind Obama of the Shelley poem, “Ozymandias”.

Off topic:

Just got an email about OB and Clinton discussing her being on the first ballot at convention. That added this fact:

“Historically, what has happened at the Democratic Conventions is: In the last 10 Democratic Conventions (1968-2004) one was uncontested (Bill Clinton’s 1996 re-nomination). Of the remaining nine - even though the ultimate nominee in every case had a clear majority of delegates well before the Convention - in SEVEN of the nine, the names of the other contenders were placed in nomination and voted on at the Convention. The only times this didn’t happen were in 2000 and 2004 (although in 2004 Rep. Kucinich still received some votes on the roll call).”

Talk it up!

I’m at the point now where I believe they will get their way, because they CAN. Laws, rules, precedent, fairness, whatever, do not matter to these power hungry radicals. In November they will meet their Karma.

The email was actually implying that the OB camp would piss many (18 million) off by trying to get her off the first ballot. They are in a pickle. Might have to let her have her historic “rightful” spot or they will loose votes. Good news for us!

He already pissed off 18 million people and more. Don’t forget the ones who’s votes were thrown in the trash.

They probably had a rules burning ceremony when they decided Obama was their Chosen One.

A link to the source of the information would be quite helpful.

I traveled for Hillary and still get a few emails from staff and other volunteers. This one was a staff.

Oops. Ditto what campingoutindenver wrote.

And the division helped them lose - which is what you want to happen. So what lessons need to be learnt? Do not give the divisive bigots a chance to tear down the party.

Where you been? I want the DNC asshats to LOOSE and loose BIG.

And screw you for suggesting if someone disagrees with BO and the DNC they are “divisive bigots”. You are the problem.
