Do YOU Believe? In Which Obama?

ovso.jpg

Politico.com, July 1, 2008: Obama to scrap Bush’s faith-based office

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) plans to slam President Bush’s faith-based program as “a photo op” and a failure on Tuesday, and says he would scrap the office and create a new Council for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships that would be a “critical” part of his administration. [...]

Anticipating criticism from the left, Obama said: “I believe deeply in the separation of church and state, but I don’t believe this partnership will endanger that idea. …

Just how faith-based must Americans become? It’s bad enough to have have the Democratic leadership undemocratically hand-pick an unqualified, inexperienced candidate in whom we are just supposed to “believe.” Now this candidate is going to “expand Bush’s faith based programs,” the A.P./Yahoo reports. (Memeorandum.com is tracking blog posts.)

Plenty of us may be praying in the next four years, but must it be on the job too? Oh wait! Obama was in Ohio when he announced his faith-based initiatives yesterday. You remember Ohio, don’t you? Where Hillary demolished Barack by double digits? Which means, to Barack, that much pandering must be done to win over the voters who rejected him on March 5th. But this much pandering?

… Obama’s support for letting religious charities that receive federal funding consider religion in employment decisions could invite a storm of protest from those who view such faith requirements as discrimination.

Guess who rails against federal funding of faith-based initiatives: Obama’s entire primary base of far-left liberals.

You know. The Kossacks. The Move-On devotees. The civil libertarians. The Glenn Greenwalds.

Actually, me too. Government aid programs should have no tie-ins to any religion of any kind. Imho.

I realize Obama needs to pander in the Midwest where he did so poorly, particularly in key states like Ohio where those Midwest “typical white people” rejected him in the primaries.

I listened to Keith Olbermann’s “Special Comment” last night advising Obama on how he should speak out about and vote on FISA.

Olbermann is desperately trying to keep you on the right course on FISA, Barack. The first-class ketchup addict, his MSNBO pals, and the reverential media are willing to tap dance on the head of a pin to help you get elected. But, eventually, even they, perhaps, will reach their limits (one hopes).

Yesterday, alone, Barack threw MoveOn.org and Gen. Wesley Clark under the bus. Sadly, it’s doubtful that the MoveOn devotees will catch on to Obama — even while he “goes along to get along” on every policy matter they care deeply about, including Bush’s funding of faith-based charities. As I wrote yesterday, the only time Obama will have his hand out to MoveOn is when they have a check in theirs.

Obama knows it too. He can abuse MoveOn between now and November, and those gullible people will still plaster his photo on their home page and beg their membership to donate to him.

He’s already thrown so many before them under the bus, as our cartoonist PatRacimora noted on May 3, 2008:

Under the Bus

Once again, he’s thrown his hardcore allies under the bus solely for the sake of winning.

PatRacimora gave Obama’s supporters some good advice in late May: “Be careful. You still IN the bus may well be next.”

Ironically, it was Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s 20-year “close adviser” — like “an uncle to me,” Obama once said — who, after he got thrown under the bus, noted bitterly that Obama is just a typical politician.

Rev. Wright saw through Obama. Finally. Will the rest?

Now let us pray:

When, Oh Lord, when will my brothers and sisters see the light about this rock-star idol? I beg you, Almighty One, deliver us from this false prophet.

Before it is too late. …

Which would be the fourth week of August, 2008.

OBAMAS IDEA FOR MORE SLUM MONEY
WRITTEN BY: A HILLARY LOYALIST

OBAMA WANTS TO SEND MORE MONEY TO TRINITY IN CHICAGO

Obama announced today that he wants to expand President Bush’s Faith Based Programs that steers social service tax dollars to religious groups. We also as taxpayers would like to have a say in whether we would really want to add to the wealth of a Church in Chicago that clearly supports an anti-government position.

This is all good for the people in south Chicago but how is this good for tax payers? Obama is trying to appear like he is the middle ground on an election battlefield. Is he trying to take care of his own at the taxpayers expense? This program is a socialist approach to Government.

read the whole story you may be shocked!

Great comparison! Just hope Obama’s candidacy ends the same way as the film… He’s as arrogant and as qualified as G.W. Bush. They would make good bookends – Bush to the right – Obama to the left and in between a bunch of “believe it or not” books.

From The Swamp:

In an elegant high-rise apartment overlooking the Chicago Loop Monday night, Michelle Obama ascended a spiral staircase to address a private party of campaign contributors as they dined on sushi and sipped wine.

But as she spoke she frequently gestured toward the wall of glass windows and to the streets beyond the downtown business district, talking of the problems that face residents on the city’s South Side and in other struggling neighborhoods around the country.

“Do we settle for the world as it is?” she asked. “Or do we work for the world as it should be?”

It was a familiar theme for the wife of the Democratic presidential candidate, who took the “world as it should be” phrase from a speech she heard her future husband give in a church basement on the far South Side when they were first dating.

On Monday, she employed it in a pitch for Dan Seals and Debbie Halvorson, two Illinois Democrats seeking congressional seats currently held by Republicans. Michelle Obama was the featured guest at the fundraiser in the home of real estate magnate Neil Bluhm, who hosted the event along with Rep. Rahm Emanuel.

“They don’t want much,” she said of the South Side residents, her neighbors when she was growing up in a working class neighborhood there. “They are just asking for a shot. They want decent schools . . . They want a clean environment, so their children don’t have to be taken to the ER every other day because they suffer from asthma.”

http://tinyurl.com/4vlaq6

No, I don’t believe in Obama’s change.

Comment by typical irishman | 2008-07-01 11:18:02

It’s a pity Obama didn’t think about the children of the poor blacks when he was a state senator in Illinois. I suppose all those poor black people have either forgotten or forgiven his highness for his inconsideration of them when he was just a lowly senator trying to steal enough to buy a mansion because his old lady was only bringing in $300,000 a year at that time. Between that and Rezkos contributions the Obama’s could barely make ends meet.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-07-01 11:25:17

Just imagine. Now we can all chip in for Rev. Wright and Co. ’s mansions.

Comment by Boxer Mum 06 | 2008-07-01 11:11:35

Not sure if anyone caught this one yet but apparently Michelle Obama is now stating that Obama is pro gay marriage. Much to the dismay of the folks in Texas when he first stated his view.

She threw the folks in Texas under bus as homophobic – no different than us folks in PA still clinging to our guns and religion. Here is some of her speech last night to the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Council.

Barack’s record is clear. There is so much at stake in this election. The direction of our country hangs in the balance.

Barack believes that we must fight for the world as it should be, a world where together, we work to reverse discriminatory laws like DOMA and Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

It’s not just about positions that you take. It’s also about the leadership that you provide on these issues. Barack has the courage to talk to skeptical audiences, not just friendly ones. That’s why he told a crowd at a rally in Texas that gays and lesbians deserve equality. And you can imagine in Texas that that crowd got a little quiet. But Barack said, and I quote now, he said, “I’m A Christian, and I praise Jesus every Sunday.” And then the crowd starting cheering. And then he said, “I hear people saying things that I don’t think are very Christian with respect to people who are gay and lesbian.” And you know what? When he said that, the crowd kept cheering.

Comment by Jeremiah God Damn AmeriKKKa Wright | 2008-07-01 11:15:37

I am sure if a poll came out tomorrow saying the majority of americans think gays and lesbians should be burned on a cross Obama would be out front and center claiming to have passed legislation to fund local community cross makers.

No doubt would make anyone a “tad” insecure?

My daughter’s DAD (the piss ant) has had very little to do with her since we divorced when she was young.

I feel she has many hang ups with men NOW because of it. (I won’t detail)

I’m 51 and since I was a kid I’d always heard about the ominous end of the world in 2012.

I went on a few trips to Belize and Costa Rica and met Mayan decendents and spent time in upstate NY with some Mohawk Indians who believe it too. Then the past few years with “An Inconvenient Truth” and the increase in global tension and catastrophe it has been on my mind.

IF somehow some disaster happens and Barry gets elected – by some freaking fluke of stolen election by Diebold or something – I just might have to sell the house and become a “the end is nigh” cultist and live in a cave till 12/21/12.

And that that date is one month after the 2012 election is even scarier. We all know how long 4 years can be and who the hell knows what is coming down the road. But it sure isn’t GOOD.

Sorry, the cynic in me is not buying hopey-changey bs but will readily accept we are freaking so screwed.

In reference to Obama’s new faith-based initiatives, note the statement by “advisor” to the Obama campaign:

“He also only supports letting religious institutions hire and fire based on faith in the non-taxypayer funded portions of their activities, said a senior adviser to the campaign, who spoke on condition of anonymity to more freely describe the new policy.”

I’d be interested to see how the government is going to distinguish between faith and non-faith based activities.

I realize Obama needs to pander in the Midwest where he did so poorly, particularly in key states like Ohio where those Midwest “typical white people” rejected him in the primaries.

For the record, Ohioans don’t swallow the faith-based initiatives wholesale, either. We recently elected a Democratic Governor who is slowly trying to undo the damage that idiot Taft did when he and his cohorts in the Statehouse began allowing school vouchers (which is an end-around public funding of religious schools).

While there are many people in Ohio who let their religious beliefs trump their politics, those in the enormous majority that voted for Clinton are not among them.

He’s not pandering to the Dems here in Ohio; he’s pandering to the religious right, solid Republican ground here in the Buckeye State.

Certainly makes you wonder two things: 1) what kind of Democrat is Barack Obama, and 2) why doesn’t the rest of the country see this for what it is, an effort to win the religious right, not the Clinton Dem?

It just shows how out of touch Obama is with our state.

What an absolute joke.

McCain and the RNC are going to play Obama’s Primary backflipping gymnastics on NAFTA over and over and over.

When O’boy was bashing Hillary during the Primary he claimed “I have always been opposed to NAFTA. It is bad for America”.

Now that he needs to move to the center he says ” NAFTA is a good thing. What I said before was just campaign rhetoric”.

And, Obama was contacting the Canadian Embassy to tell them he was Pro NAFTA, at the same time he was telling the people of Ohio he was against it.

I’m pretty sure the good people of Ohio do not like being insulted and lied to. Good luck.

Like the Simpsons, that’s another state he can’t go back to.

Is Obama trying to launch a Political Christian Jihad now? Maybe he is replcing his race based campaign with a religious based campaign , because race will not work against McCain. I don’t think a black Muslim will be very attractive to the religious rights fundamentalists though. Obama has trapped himself with his own slimey tactics.

“I believe deeply in the separation of church and state, but I don’t believe this partnership will endanger that idea. …

Obama believes….is that what makes “this partnership” a faith-based initiative?.

I would agree that “this partnership” won’t endanger the IDEA of separation of church and state, but what about the reality especially considering Obama’s associations in the religion department.

NO! NO! NO! NO!

This is not a good idea whether it is coming from Bush or Obama. Let the religious organizations solicit donations from their members and let them carry on from there. Try cutting taxes so people will have a little extra money to donate AS THEY CHOOSE, not as Obama and his illustrious advisors choose.

As far as those people at Huff post being pissed off about Obarf throwing them under the bus. All I have to say is Ha Ha. Obarf used them and he knows they have no where else to go but to vote for him. He used them, he’s backing fisa, he won’t take a stand and vote for Move.on freedom of speech, and now the continuation of the faith based initiative. Ha Ha, he knows you have nowhere else to go so he doesn’t have to pander to your needs anymore. You are under the bus, just like so many of us. Ha Ha. Just think how he will ignore the needs of the AA community. Obarf is a fraud and has always been, sorry your head was so far up your arse that you actually believed he “was different” like he said. All you ever had to do was look at his record and that would tell you who he is. What does his record tell us? He has never taken a difficult stand for any group and has consistently dodged difficult issues by skipping out on votes. Ha Ha. So when he loses this election cycle, you people and Huff post and Daily Kos will have noone eles but yourself and Obarf to blame. Ha Ha. Obarf is the downfall of the democratic party. ha ha

NRA plans $40M fall blitz targeting Obama

“We look forward to showing him ‘bitter,’” Cox said, referring to Obama’s statement this spring that some in rural America “cling” to guns and religion out of bitterness.

The NRA filed suit on Friday to overturn handgun laws in Chicago, Obama’s hometown, and three Windy City suburbs

“You put a microphone to his face and ask: ‘Do you support the Chicago gun control laws?’” said Grover Norquist, an NRA board member, envisioning how to prolong the story and make the Illinois senator squirm.

Churches who do not believe in left liberal doctrine – like abortion!!!!!!!!!!

Again, sounds like selling your souls to the devil – all for money!!!!!!! Obama and his big backers are trying to buy votes, but at what price??

Judy – There a whole bunch of churches out there that are nothing more than corporations. They are like Obama; they do what it takes to get money and power. Helping people in need is not really important in the grand scheme of things.

BREAKING NEWS: New adherents to the Obama philosophy were seen along side an inter-state highway. They told authorities that they were waiting for Obama to “save them”. They were checked for injuries and appeared to be unharmed. When asked where they came from they replied, “under the bus”. Some appeared to be quite belligerent and confused. They were taken to the nearby State Hospital for evaluation.

Oddly, a rather angry Four Star General, according to some present, was seen staggering from the scene. Others present confirmed this information with this reporter.

Neither the General nor Senator Obama were available for comment.

NOTE: Some persons there were overheard saying something about “Move-On” and “re-education camps” This reporter was unable to confirm this information prior to press time.

Actually Obama is quite cleaver just like in Muslim country and some times here. Relgious Zelots are already irrational and easy to control, and if you don’t have a taste for religion use Bigotry. Fear and social betterment work for a while. But making someone feel they are better than someone else well that’s priceless.

I can tell you one thing I am thoroughly sick of: Obama speeches which include the phrase “My position on this issue is as it has been all along, ” delivered with straight face, even when it’s a boldfaced lie.

This is what happens to people who get used to enjoying the complete and unquestioning adulation of the crowd- they come to feel comfortable in changing their positions 180 degrees and then trying to convince you that YOU are the one with the lousy memory.

If Obama had painted a list of his principles on a barn wall, he’d be sending a pig up a ladder every other day to make “necessary adjustments.” Finally, the list would read only “Obama Is Always Right.”

Comment by Linda | 2008-07-01 15:11:03

…yes, Obama has just such a way for stating the obvious. Yes, I don’t believe this initiative will “endanger that idea”. I’m sure he’ll continue to believe “deeply in the separation” as he pushing policies that are contrary to that belief.

How many supporters are left on the Obama bus before he throws them under it? Can one sustain the Obama “Tilt a Whirl” Agenda before they get whiplash at such a speedy rate of this ride?

For his sake I hope he is not inciting violence against PUMAS because we will not be threatened, we will not back down, we will fight for our rights to free speech to the full extent of the law, we will fight for our democracy regardless of the DNC and MSM’s efforts to take democracy away from the people and Lord knows we will not listen to him anyway. He ought to stick to his music.

Obama wants to give money to religious organizations and expressly allow them to hire and fire based on religious prejudices. That means if your gay you get your ass fired since almost every religion hates us.

Just another example of how tolerant Obama is of people who hate gays and lesbians.

You know the only other people who seem to attack gays this much in public life are those funny evangelical ministers-you know the ones-they always seem to end up in a tabloid with a male hooker and a divorce. Hmmmm.

Our country is in dire straights economy-wise and the two candidates running on the Democrat and Reublican parties will break the back of already hurting citizens with their expanding government program mandates.

Just know that the ideas of “Distibution of wealth” and government seized private corporations (in the guise of Nationalizing their assets), are pages taken out of Karl Marx ‘Communist Manifesto’ !!!
