Funny how he can manage to be the “most liberal senator” and GWB’s twin at the same time.

He's not a liberal. Even voting with the Democratic Party 100% of the time doesn't make you a liberal or a progressive. (For comparison's sake, see Kucinich, or Edwards.) Anyone who's read his books or watched him in action can see that he supports many policies favored by the neocon wing of the Republican Party. It's not like this is some big secret or tinfoil conspiracy; it's all right out there in the open. Look at his economic advisors; look at his close relationships with people like Doug Kmiec; look at his contributors. He's not "shifting" to the right, he was always there.

Graduating MCL from Harvard qualifies him for the Senate not the White House. Obama continues flunking on the actual test for experience. He gives the wrong answers on UHC, Iraq, Iran, etc. He is not ready to be President.

And there you have it. Hillary ran on her many qualifications. Obama ran on Hope and Change.

One was proud of her historic run. Another has constantly warned "they will try to paint me as a scary black man." Only one of these ran on a true message of Hope, and I'll give you a clue. Her husband was the Original Man From Hope. I'm very inspired by her bid for the presidency.

Better do some research and quit spouting Obama myths. He wasn't at the top of his class; he was the first affirmative action editor (not selected on merit) of the HLR, and he never wrote a single article for the review. After Obama's lackluster performance, they changed the rules at HLR, adding the requirement that editors actually write articles!

Obama will lose this election because he keeps changing positions like the last 2 Democrats did. He becomes untrustworthy. Bill Clinton kept his positions all the way through.

To everyone who said Kerry lost because he was swift-boated, that is wrong. Democrats would like to believe that but it isn't true. He lost because he talked down to us and not to us. He acted like he was better than us. I'm from Ohio, the swing state that won it for Bush.

Dear god, you actually make me feel a little sad to be a country-man of yours.

Okay, can we have a history lesson. There once was a candidate called Bambi, he came to a disillusioned leftist party full of vim and vigour. The left saw him as a Messiah, a new politician, hope, things can only get better... yay!

It didnt matter that this man seemed to change his tune according to what was vogue at that moment, because we had to get rid of those nasty right wingers.

So many on the left stated time and time again, that Bambi was merely playing the middle-class, and when he got to power, as he surely would, he would be the leftist wonderful prime minister they so craved. Things indeed can only get better.

Question: How'd that turn out? How's civil liberties in this country now? How's tax? Who took us to war in Iraq? What happened to people like Kelly, thrown to the wolves by Cambell et at? Please tell me things really got better, please tell me the third way was a success?

Fast forward a few years, and Bambi Mk 2.

Are you so desperate to believe?

Do you actually believe for one moment Obama will pull America out of Iraq? My arse! Yes, I'm sure he will get into power and leave the multi-billion dollar bases empty, I'm sure he'll turn round and leave pipe-lines and oil companies unsecured, I'm sure he'll let the Kurdish people get slaughtered in a crush between Turks, Shia and Sunni. I'm sure he'll click his heels three times and get everyone out... or perhaps, as Power indicated, he'll suddenly find that things on the ground means we have to stay the course. Hasnt he already started saying how wonderful Petraeus is? Does Petraeus want out?

Obama bring with him cynicism and apathy, just like Blair did. He says what he says to get power, he believes in nothing, and will turn 180 at a moments notice. I'm pissed as its already started to happen, much to my chagrin my wife supported and voted for him in the primaries, now, after a week of pandering to the right she's begun to realise... he's no new politician, just the old type with a good PR company.

Here endeth the rant!

Many of the most progressive Supreme Court decisions protecting individual liberties were all written by Republicans justices appointed by Republican presidents. Here’s a sample.

Boumediene v. Bush granting habeas corpus rights to non-uniformed enemy combatants captured on the field of battle was written for the majority by a Republican, Anthony Kennedy, appointed by Ronald Reagan.

Romer v. Evans, invalidating laws denying gays the right to bring local discrimination claims is another Kennedy decision.

Lawrence v. Texas, invalidating criminal prohibitions against private sexual acts between consenting gay adults is yet another Kennedy decision.

Planned Parenthood v. Casey re-affirming the Roe v. Wade decision recognizing the right to abortion was written by Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman on the SUpreme Court and another appointee of Ronald Reagan. Kennedy joined O’Connor d in the majority opinion.

Roe v. Wade itself was authored for the majority by another Republican, Harry Blackmun, who was appointed to the Supreme Court by Richard Nixon.

Brown v. Board of Education, which struck down laws allowing racial segregation, was written by another Republican, Earl Warren, an Eisenhower appointee.

Gideon v. Wainwright, granting indigent non-capital criminal defendants the right to publicly-funded counsel was a Warren decision.

Miranda v. Arizona requiring that certain rights of a person being interrogated while in police custody be clearly explained, including the right to an attorney is also a Warren decision.
