Obama’s Acorn

Obama’s ACORN: A Leftist Social Reform Group

Obama’s most questionable tie is to a leftist organization called ACORN. His connection to this group begins with a woman named Madeleine Talbot. She embraced Obama and taught him the ropes. He remained a part of this group’s training cadre. Obama taught leadership conferences for the group while working for Miner, Barnhill & Galland. His connections don’t end there. Obama actively sought and received the endorsement by ACORN for his local campaigns. He has now done the same in his bid for the USA presidency.

According to its web site ACORN (an acronym for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), is the nation’s largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, working together for social justice and stronger communities. At first glance, this organization seems to be benign. This is not true since it uses very aggressive tactics to get its work done.

Some recent reports about their activities include the following things. They have disrupted and blocked activities within the Chicago City Council during living wage discussions. In Baltimore, MD, they burst into the scene of a private law dinner. They bussed four loads of protesters to the site of a mayor’s house, where they spewed profanities at the mayor and his family. And these are just the ones we know about. Their thuggery is over the line by far.

These are not their only questionable actions. In the past they have been tied to illegal voter registration in at least three states. These three states are Washington, Missouri, and North Carolina.

In Missouri, the voter fraud case was tied to at least one campaign, the senate campaign of Claire McCaskill.

In 2004, the Washington state Secretary of State described ACORN’s illegal activity as the “largest case of voter fraud in the state’s history”.

They were fined $25,000 and promised to instruct their paid canvassers on the state election requirements. In 2005, according to the complaint filed with Mecklenberg County, North Carolina, the voter fraud involved the registration of homeless people. ACORN agrees they break the law but said “no one told us”. In 2006, in Kansas City, MO, five low-level operatives were charged with voter fraud. Four pleaded guilty, with the fifth person released because it came out that an ACORN worker had stolen her identity.

This is just the first layer of radicalism. According to Sol Stern’s 2003 City Journal article, “ACORN’s Nutty Regime for Cities,” this group is the key modern successor of the 1960 ’s “New Left” with a 1960’s-bred agenda of anti-capitalism to match. While ACORN still uses the old tactics of the National Welfare Reform Organization to get things done, the targets and strategy have changed. They prefer to fly under the radar, taken their tactics to liberal urban areas like Chicago and now here in Kansas. Their national goals are municipal “living” wage laws, targeting big companies like Costco, rolling back welfare reform, and regulating banks.

ACORN drives companies like Costco from urban areas that actually need jobs. Their opposition to welfare reform tends to keep the people in poverty in these areas, while causing family breakdown. The worst of their tactics is the regulation of banks. They protest “predatory lending,” putting pressure on banks to make large donations to them to finance their “non-partisan motor voter drives.” Stern says that these tactics tend to be “undisguised authoritarian socialism.”

Don’t let its tactics fool you though. According to Kurtz, “ACORN is a savvy and exceedingly effective player.” They prefer to take over the system from within rather than overthrowing the system from without. Stern calls this a political version of the Invasion of the Body Snatchers. In Chicago, where the largest organization exists, an ACORN member won a seat on the Board of Alderman as candidate of the leftist New Party.

Obama in his pre-law days was a community organizer. He was supposed to teach the residents to press for improvements in places like their parks which were eyesores back in his day. Part of Obama’s employment was to organize demonstrations, much in the same way groups like ACORN do. Some of Obama’s claims, in his book Dreams from My Father, about his actions to remove asbestos are false. It was actually a woman named Hazel Johnson who discovered the asbestos problem and who led the removal efforts.

Once again, Madeleine Talbot, Obama’s ACORN mentor, reappears on our radar screens. It turns out Talbot was in some sense responsible for the attempted unsuccessful coup of the Chicago City Council meeting on the living wage issue in 1997. Two hundred ACORN supporters were present. While the actions did disrupt the meeting, six members were arrested that night, charged with “mob action and disorderly conduct.” Among those six was Talbot, Obama’s ACORN mentor.

Does it mean Obama used these tactics? I highly doubt it since he would have been above those tactics in order to protect his political future. He wouldn’t have wanted to break the law with such aggressive behavior. I do believe by this time Obama was well aware of their tactics and understood them, maybe even teaching them in his leadership conferences.

It seems that in reality that Obama is ACORN’s way to overthrow the system from the inside. This jives with his words such as “I am for hope and change, I am for a new Washington, D.C.” While Axelrod coined the term “Hope and Change,” ACORN is fully behind Obama’s opportunity to overthrow our government, if you will, from the inside. They are not alone in their quest for this because it seems that the Service Employee’s International Union is one of ACORN’s strange bedfellows.

The extent of his ties is often dismissed. They are however covered in another article found in the journal Social Policy entitled “Case Study: Chicago – The Barack Obama Campaign” by Tom Foulkes. In this article, Foulkes claims that ACORN specifically sought out Obama’s representation in the “motor voter case,” remembering him from his pre-law days and his work with Talbot. He also trained many of the new volunteers and employees in Leadership Training Conferences even as he was working as a law professional.

This is only the beginning of his continued use and cooperation on the part of ACORN. Obama used them as volunteer “thugs” for his first bid for the Illinois state senate in 1996 and again in his failed 2000 bid for Congress. Obama doesn’t forget his old friends, many of his newly trained volunteers, and used them again in his 2004 successful bid for the United States Senate. By this time ACORN and Obama were like old friends.

ACORN as well as other groups were the recipients of foundation money from both the Woods Fund and Joyce Foundation. Why is this important? Obama sat on both boards. Through his board positions, he was able to assist in the funneling of many millions of dollars in grant money to various ultra-liberal organizations like Chicago’s ACORN. It may not be illegal but it gives me pause.

It would be illegal for Obama to funnel money to his main “get out the vote” volunteers in his position on those boards. So it would seem, at least on the exterior, that ACORN probably did observe the “rule of law” in its non-partisan efforts. It claims that its get-out-the-vote drives are segregated from its political arm. I am certain that much grant money has been received from these two foundations. And I am left with a nagging question. Where does ACORN get the money for its never-empty war chest? Could it be they receive funding from someone like George Soros, who has poured millions into presidential campaigns like Obama and even Howard Dean, according to a blog piece at No Quarter, “Hitler and the New Democratic Party.”

According to Kurtz in his NRO article, while these questions about funding and partisanship are important, what is more troubling are Obama’s ties to ACORN, “arguably the most politically, radical, large-scale activist group in this country.” ACORN sneaked its first political insider on the Board of Alderman in Chicago as a “New Party” candidate elected to that board. As ACORN has managed to sneak its operatives within the system legally through elections, one would think that Obama is able to do the same. Why do we know this? Because Obama has trained many of their current leaders.

The LA Times returned to that same Chicago neighborhood where Obama worked as a community organizer to take a look at the same neighborhood. What they found was a real disappointment. They found one of those parks that Obama “helped” restore to its natural beauty is now overrun by drug dealers and thugs again. It seems nothing changed for very long in the old Obama stomping grounds.

The best finish to this article is Stanley Kurtz’s own words. “The community organizer may generate feel-good moments and best selling books, but I suspect that a Costco as the seed bed of a larger shopping complex would have done far more to save the neighborhood where Obama worked to organize in the progressive fashion.” Unfortunately, Chicago ACORN is blocking that effort.

Thanks for this post.

ACORN — YES they have trained people how to disrupt and control meetings.

I remember reading a paper on their tactics.

THEN I saw their tactics IN ACTION — at the caucus I attended in WA State.

Now the pieces are beginning to fall in to place.

Comment by Seattle Moss | 2008-07-05 02:55:33

My wife and I saw the same tactics at the caucus we attended. It seemed very canned how when she got up to speak they all booed her in unison.
I was so disgusted as I’m the one that got her involved in politics and for her to have such a negative experience the first time out was hard to stomach.
Later, I got up and gave them a piece of my mind and warned them about the unvetted candidate, empty suit national security risk that they were slothing over.
I have since talked to a koolaid Obamabot that attended and she told me that she was saddened that Hillary didn’t get the nomination.
Stupid Obamabots!!!

Is it possible that ths Obama campaign (using ACORN tactics) or maybe even Acorn itself is responsible for hostilely taking over the several caucuses where violations were recorded, and maybe more?

Comment by fran | 2008-07-05 10:40:43

And more importantly now: what do they have in mind for false voter registration and voting disruption/suppression for November????

To the person above who say that conspiracy theorists believe that the Bush administration pulled off the trickiest hoax in history on 9/11. That’s not entirely true. The real 9/11 Truthers believe that it a joint US Military and US Govt who pulled off the scam. I don’t know where you get this incompetence thing. Where did you learn that the US govt was incompetent? If you think they are so incompetent then why do you pay your taxes. What has the Bush Admin been incompetent at?

Here was the Bush Goals and you tell me if they got it done

1) get patriot act passed and destroy constitution
2) get Americans to consent to a never-ending war in Iraq and Afghanistan
3) Nationalize the Banks through a bailout plan

Looks like they are doing well to me. You just don’t know the administration’s goals. If you don’t know the goals, how do you know if they are incompetent or not?

You idiot. This problem started with the Clinton administration by helping people get houses that could not afford. I have a real estate license and most banks working with realtors do anything to get someone in a house. That’s the problem in a nutshell.

So 8 years of Bush and 12 years of his party in control of congress and they could not fix this “problem”?? Admit it they – the Republican congress – were only too happy to deregulate the industry and line their own pockets at the same time.

Clinton signed the Deregulation in 1999,
you ask others to get educated, why don’t you start first.

Is this all Clintons fault? NO, but it isn’t all Bush fault either.
WE THE PEOPLE VOTED IN THESE BOZOS into office, WE THE PEOPLE need to kick every single corrupt politican out.

but with the depth in which ACORN is involved in voter fraud, I suggest we start here first, invalidate every registration ACORN has turned in. if you want to register to vote , go to the courthouse like everyone else. ACORN Corruption in our political process has been funded BY US. the taxpayers, WE THE PEOPLE were paying for their corruption, with the approval of the no good cheating democrats. OBAMA is involved in acorn, just like he know AYERS as more than “just a guy in my neighborhood”

Obama is a far leftist liar, if he wins, you watch the FBI get called off the corruption of ACORN.

Its time we took our Country back people .

That was supposed to be a temporary move to stimulate economy, and it did work. The only thing is when things were good the guy that was in charge of this stuff forgot to reestablish the regulations slowly. Instead nothing happened. This part where regulations needed to happen was in the Bush years not Clintons

Comment by MATEO | 2008-10-21 05:43:32

Bush did EVERYTHING he could to regulate Fannie and Freddie, but democrats with onlt a handfull of republicans blocked it…8 times in total.
see “community reinvestment act caused meltdown”
And before you read some BS left wing denial of the blaim please note that 10 out of the 15 bank failures were from the few banks that were covered by the CRA. They ALL just happened to have “satisfactory” CRA ratings…That is statistically significant..or in lamen’s terms that proves it.

The country is on the brink of economic collapse because of Raines, Paulson and the other liberals protecting their own and not accepting any responsibility. The sub-prime crises was created by Clinton (and partially Carter). You are the fool. Uneducated kool-aid drinking liberals are the real problem.

Comment by Kathy | 2008-10-14 23:04:07

What caused the problem was the, perhaps, well-intentioned, but very imprudent attempt to offer housing to those who couldn’t afford it. This took place via unwise legislation. Both financial institutional leaders and groups like ACORN took advantage of this and pressured banks to make risky loans or get fined for not doing do. Many got rich from all the transactions that resulted and certain members of Congress blocked any attempt to regulate or make all of this transparent. I want those in Congress who blocked attempts to fix this booted out and/or sent to jail if they were benefiting from any of this financially. Personally, Tom, I want it all investigated. How about you?

Comment by jeff | 2008-10-15 03:18:00

Look,

Barack may be an intelligent guy but he has never led or managed anything. He has only fed off the public $$ pile. He is charismatic, so maybe if he were to get a real job in the private sector for a few years I would feel better about him as a leader. Right now he is just a mouthpiece for the Liberal Left. Right along with the 90% Liberal Media. I am a Republican but I have no problem supporting a seasoned leader. Even though I didn’t care for Clinton he was a savy leader.

Comment by Tommy | 2008-10-15 10:29:34

It’s not the current government and it’s policies that have gotten us into trouble in our economy. It’s the buy now, pay later, ever-entitled democratic thinking that has gone unchecked in many homes for years now. We cannot keep buying homes we can’t afford, driving cars that are way over our budgets, and spending money recklessly then get uspet when the apple cart gets spilled!
We are paying for our own stupid decisions, and a phony “change” mantra isn’t going to change a thing by offering more well-fare states and entitlement mentality. Work hard and spend smart. But certainly don’t put an under-experienced, non-American loving person in the office!

Comment by Brandy | 2008-10-18 05:44:30

Hmmmm, with a little bit of research you would find out that it is not Bush that is responsible for the economic crisis. But why should I be surprised that the democrats aren’t doing their research, if they did they would never vote for Obama. Here’s the truth about what has caused our economic meltdown.

With the economy slowing and a weak financial market created solely by our subprime mortgage mess, what do we keep hearing now from the media in hopes the majority will believe it and vote accordingly? “The mess is caused by eight years of failed Bush economic policies, including the tax cuts for the rich that should be rescinded.”

This is not the talk of a uniter of people, but rather a separator stirring up class warfare, envy and resentment. It’s a stirring-up of hate in an attempt to endlessly criticize, condemn, demean and destroy every opponent.

Do you know the real cause of the out-of-control subprime loan mess that’s creating so much fear and hurting every American? It’s not something the media or a certain political party wants you to find out.

In 1995, President Clinton mandated new regulations that coerced banks to make significantly more subprime loans to inner-city residents previously viewed as unqualified buyers in high-risk areas. Banks were rated on how well they complied and faced big fines if they didn’t do what government regulators wanted.

The government’s worst decision was allowing and encouraging banks, for the first time, to bundle these subprime loans in giant packages with prime loans. These packages were then sold to other investors as safe because they were government-sponsored by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

The first of these government-encouraged packages came to market in 1997. For the banks, they were profitable because they could be sold quickly and thereby absolve the banks of any risk in the loans they made. Many subprimes were variable-rate loans made without down payments or documentation of borrowers’ incomes.

The banks could then use the money to make even more of these lower-quality, government-required loans, and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bought them with virtual abandon.

It evolved into a Big Government pyramid scheme with Democrats in charge of Fannie and Freddie making large political donations to Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Barack Obama and other politicians who continually defended the anything-goes lending of the two agencies.

In short, this was yet another well-intended, Democrat-supported,government-designed and run program that failed miserably and had the usual unintended consequences.

A few more facts:

• April 2001: The Bush administration’s fiscal budget stated that the size of Fannie and Freddie was “potential problem because financial trouble of a large Government-Sponsored Enterprise could cause repercussions in financial markets, affecting federally insured entities and economic activity.

• May 2002: The Office of Management and Budget wanted disclosure and governance principles in Bush’s 10-point plan for corporate responsibility to apply to Fannie and Freddie.

• February 2003: A federal housing oversight report warned that unexpected problems at Fannie Mae could immediately spread into financial sectors.

• September 2003: Treasury Secretary John Snow, in testimony to the House Financial Services Committee, recommended that Congress enact legislation to create new agency to regulate and supervise financial activities of housing-related government entities to set prudent and appropriate minimum capital requirements.

Rep. Frank, the committee’s ranking member, strongly disagreed, saying: “Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not facing any kind of financial crisis . . . . The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we’ll see in terms of affordable housing.

• February 2004: The president’s new budget again highlighted risks of the explosive growth of these government enterprises and the then-low levels of required capital. It also called for the creation of a world class regulator. The administration determined that housing regulators of government agencies lacked the power and stature to meet their responsibilities and should be replaced with a strong new third regulator.

• February 2004: Greg Mankiw, chairman of Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers, cautioned Congress against taking the strength of financial markets for granted. He too called for reducing the risk by ensuring that housing GSEs are overseen by an effective regulator.

• April 2004: Rep. Frank ignored warnings, accusing the administration of creating an “artificial issue.” “People pay their mortgages,” he told a group of mortgage bankers. “I don’t think we are in any remote danger here. This focus on receivership, I think, is intended to create fears that aren’t there.

From 2004 to 2008 the Bush administration made 12 more attempts to get Congress to pass legislation to have safer, sounder regulatory oversight of Fannie and Freddie and capital rules. You can see them for yourself on the White House Web site.
But here are a couple of examples that show how Democrats resisted:

• July 2005: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid rejected legislation on reforming Fannie and Freddie. “While I favor improving oversight by our federal housing regulators to ensure safety and soundness, we cannot pass legislation that would limit Americans from owning homes and harm our economy in the process,” he said.

• August 2007: Sen. Dodd, another Democrat, ignored President Bush’s emphatic calls for Congress to pass Fannie and Freddie reform legislation and called for him to immediately reconsider his ill-advised position.

Democrats have become a far-left propaganda party with the lowest-ranked Congress in history. For six years, they have consistently refused to rein in the monumentally risky subprime loans that Clinton Democrats gave birth to.

Yet, voters are blaming Republicans for this crisis and seem to think that a newcomer they know little about, despite his questionable past associates and mentors, can bring us more huge programs. These include one that would socialize the health care system at a time when government-run systems in Canada and Britain are lower in quality and nearly bankrupt.

Comment by Karen | 2009-09-10 09:42:18

Time to stop blaming Bush! In 6 months Obama has totally ruined the economy and put us is the greatest debt this country has ever known. He is still trying to incur more debt with his “Health” reform. This is his baby now and he can’t blame Bush ot the Republicans any more

My sentiments EXACTLY! The problem actually began with the New Deal and the creation of Fannie Mae. LBJ privatized Fannie Mae then Jimmy Carter Admin created Freddie Mac to compete with Fannie, Then Clinton steps in to make matters worse by requesting they lower their lending standards (which were already riskier than most lending institutions). Now Bush is taking the heat because Barney Frank and his Buddies turned their heads while sitting as chairs of the regulating boards so that uninformed americans will elect the ultimate ANTI-american.

His old church that he conviniently cut ties with when it came into question. A church that hates whites and jews and is a version of the KKK. I still cant believe that people can look past this. His little white lies about all these great things hes accomplished. All these involvments with the very people of fannie mae and companies like that that put us in this fiscal mess. People, look at Obama, from a guy who has seen a politican gain a cult following like Deval Patrick in Mass they dont work. Patrick has litterally done nothing for the state. Obama will be an empty suit with no substance and its really special that he gives a good speech but so did my football coach and he isnt on the ballot.

How are you going to be able to handle a problem like this unless you are honest about the scope of the problem. Groups like ACORN are not leftist progressive. They are communist.

This is a problem that has plagued the democrats for nearly three generations now. Infiltration by various traitorous marxist organizations that work at the behest of incredibly sick, hostile foreign powers.

The term “social justice” has NOTHING to do with anything benign and benevolent, in any way. It’s a Orwellian speak for violence used to destroy our way of life and enslave people to one group of privilege or another. Zimbabwe is a good example of what I am talking about. Social justice as a euphemism for ethnically cleansing white people in an orgy of racist hate, followed by enslavement of everyone else to a privilege class close to Mugabe and the total destruction of all institutions as they are forced to adhere to marxist theories which have all proven to be horrible failures whenever applied in the world, without a single, solitary exception.

This is what Obama wants for the US. Of course, it’s also what Clinton wants for the US. They just have different opinions as to who should be the masters and who should be the slaves.

ACORN is nothing more than a group of freelancing brown shirts that happen to be working for Obama now.

Many years ago, I helped in the founding of our local “Peace Center”.Over time we were infiltrated with a variety of “Peace and Justice” groups who brought their own agendas with them.Back then, in my naivety, I thought “How nice…Communists want peace too”…HA! We need to dig into the roots of these so-called peace groups to find out what their real intentions are. I was shocked to learn that ANSWER(”war is not the answer”)is a Communist based group that supported the Chinese Government crack down on the protesters in Tianamen Square. While I no longer have anything to do with the Peace Center, I still receive their rally announcements sponsered by groups that are not(IMO) for peace, and not for America.

Nick is on to the GAME, so please pay attention.

From my perspective, the two party system is just another divide and conquer mechanism used to control the masses. A few ultra powerful puppeteers pit the brown eyed kids against the blue eyed kids, the Rs against the Ds, the blacks against the whites, the rich against the poor, the men against the women, the blue collar joes against the white collar wannabees, right to lifers against pro choicers, and on and on. As long as the masses are feeding on each other, they will be too busy to focus on and attack the real power brokers. They have the public focused on the theatrical charades of Congressional puppets, while the entire financial power of our nation – and more – is being (or has been) “redistributed.”

If all of this was in an isolated tribe with small numbers, including you and I, we would find the individual culprits and hang them high in the public square as an act of patriotism. But the real world today is warped by the effects of social engineering, lawyers, and uncontrolled population explosions.

The master puppeteers ARE STEALING OUR ASSETS. They manipulate the markets and make money if it goes up or down, so don’t look for market stability. They manipulate currency exchange rates (can you say devalued dollar) to further enslave the masses while recapturing wealth. When the housing bubble was created and then burst, where do you think all of that wealth was transferred to? The residual vacuum is now sucking the US Treasury into even further bankruptcy. Meanwhile, We The People feed on each other and don’t seem to recognize the game.

Lots of people are sounding the alarm to “wake up.” The question is whether those that do wake up will know what to do and have the fortitude to make a difference.

Are these “front-runners” the best we’ve got?!

Heed the call to arms !!!

THE POLITICIANS ARE COMING! THE POLITICIANS ARE COMING!

THE ALARMS ARE DEAFENING!

PLEASE AMERICA, WAKE UP AND OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!!!

I know the story you are referring to, I have seen it about 4-6 weeks ago and posted it on anther forum. There was a similar story out of St. Louis involving indictments and convictions for voter fraud involving ACORN members.

Comment by Berkeley | 2008-07-05 01:55:34

From Columbus, OH:

The three ACORN workers turned in about a dozen potentially fraudulent voter forms, White said. Assistant Prosecutor Patrick Piccininni called the errors on the forms “egregious.”

It is a fifth-degree felony, punishable by up to 18 months in jail, to submit Ohio voterregistration forms with false information. One of the three workers could face extra charges for not responding to the elections board?s subpoena.

In 2004, an ACORN worker was convicted of election fraud for turning in forged registrations, but officials were unable to trace the sources of hundreds more that contained suspect information.

http://www.dispatch.com/live/contentbe/dispatch/2006/10/21/20061021-B1-05.html

Search and you will find even more stories like this in other cities. The big BO is also opposed to voter ID laws. Why shouldn’t a voter be required to submit identification when the poll worker checks off the name on the voter rolls before receiving a ballot? Even non-driver license photo ID’s are relatively common and easy to obtain and thus do not impede the right to vote.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-07-05 02:29:58

I did a search on “ACORN tactics” and had numerous hits.

ACORN put out a training manual — I downloaded the manual and reviewed their tactics — the Obama caucus thugs were using pages from that manual!! I wish I could locate that training manual — it may be on a computer that crashed. The manual was a blueprint for “community organizers” to take over meeting or force their agenda on a group.

These people are manipulative — they are using psychological warfare. They use methods developed to help troubled (mentally ill) patients — and these methods are very potent. We were warned about some of the techniques in Grad School — they are only to be used with caution and with supervision.

Yet this group (and Obama) use this psychological manipulation on the MASSES.

These are also methods used in CULTS — there are so many cults in the US (and probably other countries) — and most people don’t recognize the cult like techniques.

Some religions are cults — we have many in the Northwest — several small cult churches in Washington. I was just talking with a former cult member — this person escaped from the cult. A family member also left the cult and joined a supposed main stream church — the paster of this individual’s former cult visits each church and makes wild claims (trying to get his cult members to return). What has happened is that former cult members can’t find another church — because there is a network of ministers in this area.

ACORN “may” have some noble goals — but they also have a hidden agenda.

As I said before — now the pieces are falling into place.

Former cult members see the Obama movement for what it is — another cult.

I hope that Hillary can pull out a win — but if the DNC continues to force Obama on America — we will have to vote McCain in order to save America from the cult of Obama.

PUMA!

She truly has never heard of a ‘Principled Position.’

I feel sorry for Taylor Marsh — either she is the best liar blogger — or she is able to ignore the cognitive dissonance created by her support now for Obama and the investigative type reporting she was doing 6 months ago.

Taylor Marsh is now a joke — not believable as a reporter — no credibility.

Perhaps she was offered a job if she was a good girl and drank the cult-aide?

When she started kneeling down to the Obamabutts BEFORE Hillary suspended her campaign — I knew that the fix was in and yet another Blog had gone over to the dark side.

Comment by Tyrione | 2008-07-05 03:06:47

True and the day she got her profile included at the Washington Post was a clear sign she was fighting just to get a voice back in the media she got tossed from for whatever reason.

As a fellow person from the Northwest [Eastern WA] the entire process is a joke.

As a Libertarian who voted for Clinton this upcoming WA set of General Election contests will be quite amusing to watch.

I’m getting quite tired of the 527s for Governor Gregoire.

The State doesn’t care about Infrastructure and Rail Systems for Heavy highspeed freight or lightrail, but they sure continue to disproportionately spend for King County projects while shafting East of the Cascades.

I don’t have any sympathy for her. I lurked a lot on her blog a few months ago because the comments were by sincere, intelligent Hillary supporters.

Even then, I noticed she was arrogant in response to any criticism. The last post I read on her site she said Hillary’s supporters who weren’t falling in line were going to hurt Hillary in terms of political payback and she seemed to have no problem with that. That was right after Donna Barkoshevich(?) from Wisconsin said publicly she would support McCain rather than Obama.

IMO she moved sides to protect herself and proved to be an opportunist. I haven’t gone back to her blog since.

Taylor Marsh is now a joke — not believable as a reporter — no credibility.

If she had supported Hillary without completely trashing Obama, it might not have looked so bad for her. However, she said some pretty vile stuff about Obama and then did a complete 180, causing her lose all credibility. Here’s one of her tamer comments from a March 14, 2008 post.

Playing Democratic voters as fools, Obama and his campaign believe his current stance and couched statement on Wright is sufficient. It is not. How can someone attend a church for 20 years, be as close to Wright as Obama is, which is beyond dispute, but not know what he’s said?
Senator Obama obviously thinks Democratic voters are stupid. It’s insulting. And you don’t have to turn towards McCain to be a turned off Democrat at the thought of Obama as the nominee. It’s another judgment moment that reminds everyone of Tony Rezko.

This is why her longtime readers now thinks that she appears to be an opportunist rather than just a “good” Democrat who’s falling in line behind the “presumptive” nominee. Maybe she’s bucking for White House Press Secretary. LOL!

Comment by Tyrione | 2008-07-05 14:30:01

The use of “bucking” is possibly appropriate in some metaphorical sense of the word–in it’s most lascivious sense.

He wants to be President so bad he can taste it, and along with blacks, women, appalachians, campaigners against guns and capital punishment, he’ll ditch the poor too. Why scuff up his nice shiny new brand which such unpatriotically impoverished ugly folks?

Comment by Berkeley | 2008-07-05 02:34:59

Comment by Jardins | 2008-07-05 03:16:24

What Obama does not say is just as important, if not more so, than what he does say. He said he would change the electoral map. Most voters would assume that he meant winning over Republicans and independents to turn a red state blue. That is the voter assumption, he never said how he would change it.

Despite Obamas unfamiliar persona, his is a charming and conventional American success story — he grew up in a broken home, was raised by a relative, became chief editor of the Harvard Law Review (hardly the house organ for a bastion of bomb-throwers), and then spent most of his political career in the bowels of that well-known cauldron of Marxism: the Illinois state legislature.

Comment by Perry Logan | 2008-07-05 05:39:12

It’s a lucky thing Obama isn’t connected with any anti-abortion groups. The extreme right’s methods are far more extreme than those of the left:

In late 1996, that there has been “over $13 million in damage caused by violent anti-abortion groups since 1982 in over 150 arson attacks, bombings, and shootings”….Recent cases involving the assassination and attempted murder of abortion providers in both the U.S. and Canada have shown that perpetrators appear to be sheltered by a network of sympathizers.

Anti-abortion terrorism reached something of a crescendo in 1998. Dr. Bernard Slepian was murdered when a sniper shot him through the kitchen window of his Buffalo, New York home. An explosive device packed with nails killed a security guard and maimed a nurse at a women’s clinic in Birmingham, Alabama. So-called “pro-life” forces splattered 19 women’s clinics with butyric acid and started the tactic of sending letters allegedly containing Anthrax to clinics. The corporate media covered these events, but their attention waned in 1999 and completely disappeared in 2000.

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-07-05 06:52:57

Just wait for it. He’s trying to appeal to Evangelicals now. Shortly, he’ll flip-flopping on his abortion stance, too.

Obama’s Chicago gang is also mixed up with people like one-time alderwoman Dorothy Tillman, who is a one-note Nellie regarding reparations. I imagine most Americans already realize how dangerous BO is, but if they don’t, the 527’s should take care of that. The only way he can win is by some vast conspiracy to commit vote fraud, and the GOP won’t just lie down for that like the DNC did!

Comment by glennmcgahhee | 2008-07-05 06:26:58

Now I realize where the Republican accusations of voter fraud originate. Their actions have caused alot of furor as these voter ID laws are going into affect all over the country and will end up disenfranchising honest voters in every state. ACORN’s tactics are back-firing in this regard. As foe advocating for the poor. The tactics of protest and intimidation sure don’t seem to have helped the poor in Chicago’s inner city. I really want someone, anyone to show mw what Obama accomplished for the people living in poverty in his Illinois district. Everything I’ve seen says nothing about this except for the results of the developers receiving tax money to line their pockets rather than doing what they promised – building affordable housing.

What amazes me is that the AA community has no problem with Obama using harsh political tactics against his fellow AA’s. There are no howls of outrage when AA people and their family members receive death threats for their lack of support of Obama.

No true liberal or progressive would think death threats are acceptable.

You see some AA leaders and politicians expressing outrage at racism directed against Obama supporters. When Obama supporters cross the line to threats of violence, against black folk, not a peep.

Yet the media refuses, for the most part, to report these things.

Comment by Mel | 2008-07-05 08:36:46

Here is another good article about ACORN and Obama.
http://online.wsj.com/public/article_print/SB120943129695651437.html

What is interesting to look at is Obama’s attempts to keep on hold the nomination of Hans von Spakovsky for a seat on the Federal Election Commission. Hans supports Voter ID and Obama is dead against it.

Obama’s hold on the von Spakovsky nomination has left the Federal Election Commission with less than a quorum. As a result, the FEC can’t open new cases, hold public meetings, issue advisory opinions or approve John McCain’s receipt of public funding for the general election.

ACORN known for registering 1000’s of new voters who have no real address makes one wonder about Obama’s new registered voters and small campaign contributors as to being real or the work of the ACORN way?

With anything Obama does, you have to ask a central question, “who benefits by the action”? The outcome always clearly becomes Obama!

Nancy, Susan and Larry,

I am very disappointed to see this post, chock full of misinformation, attacking ACORN. Are you completely unaware of the tactics employed by the GOP over the last few decades to suppress votes as a strategy to win elections? For heavens sake, please read a little further on the organization, the history and some of the BS brought by the GOP against ACORN and other organizations that work to register voters before writing about them. Do some reading on the U.S. Attorney scandal which has decimated the DOJ, to see how the Republicans have used the exact same propaganda against ACORN that you are repeating, to politicize the DOJ and use the DOJ to swing elections for Republicans.

I don’t support Obama but I don’t let irrational hatred and ignorance taint my belief in the principles of democracy and our nation. ACORN may have some associations with Obama but it is not an Obama organization. We need organizations like ACORN to help us in the fight for voters rights and fair elections. The right has used fear and trumped up charges of voter fraud to influence public opinion for years. Do you truly wish to support tactics that are used to keep more people from voting instead of increasing voter participation in elections?

I am truly astonished with what is either a undisciplined and incompetent research to distinguish a factual representation of information or complete disregard for the truth in order to discredit Obama.

Comment by Mel | 2008-07-05 09:38:35

Comment by demi | 2008-07-05 13:18:56

Get a grip and stop spreading Republican bullshit around. A few bad apples, mostly trying to capitalize on a system that compensates them on the number of completed registrations, were the problem here, not the organization. How many of those registrations for a dead person actually resulted in a vote being cast? Do you have any evidence to back up what you are insinuating? I doubt it and doubt you have any knowledge of the cooperation that ACORN as an organization made with authorities to see that steps were taken to correct and punish people that were turning in these registrations. Do you know that the only prosecution for anything so far related to the U.S. Attorney scandals will probably be related to Brad Schlozman’s tenure as the U.S. Attorney of the Western District of Missouri? And if charges are brought against Schlozman, it will be related to his prosecution of the ACORN volunteers in 2006. Are you aware that Republicans have now used this bullshit about voter regristrations, which by the way is not voter fraud unless a ballot is cast, the proper term is election fraud, to pass laws restricting voter registration drives? Probably not by the tone and regurgitation of Republican talking points in your comment. It is very simple, the correct and principled position for a democratic nation is to expand voter participation, not do everything possible to restrict and suppress voters from voting which is why the Republicans go after ACORN and push lies about voter fraud. If you are interested in informing yourself, there is a multitude of information available on the Republicans faux ballot security initiatives. Otherwise, the least you can do is stop embarrassing yourself by showing your ignorance on the topic.

Comment by BettsAZ | 2008-07-05 23:07:38

Reasonable Democrats and Republicans do not believe that making voters show ID at the voting polls is “restrictive or suppressive”.The so-called charge that poor people are disadvantaged by having to show a piece of(credible)identification to vote is preposterous.Poor people have identification for welfare benefits they receive. We all have to have a library card to check out a book…how much more important is it to have to have ID for voting for the President of our Country?

You sweetie are the idiot — ARCORN may on the surface have noble “goals”. But those of us who had to endure caucuses saw these THUGS in action.

These Obama thugs were trained — and they were using ACORN tactics.

The proof in WA State and Texas is that both states held a primary — and the primary votes were SIGNIFICANTLY different from the caucus “votes”.

In the caucus there was zero effort to even check to see if participants were registered voters or even LIVED in the district or precinct.

Registering voters should be done by a non-partisan group.

ACORN should be disbanded.

After seminary, I moved to Chicago for a few months. My first job was as a canvasser for ACORN in Chicago. We were working on getting stronger rape laws in place in IL. Who knew that my limited experence there would be my primary qualification for running for political office?!?! I guess it’s not too late..

I do not recognize the organization it has become.

As fot the assumption that Obama did not engage in illegal behavior, my feeling is that it would be less abt is political career, and more because he is an unprincipled coward who sits on the fence constantly.

That being said, I do not think one can assume he did not break the law based solely on political aspirations. Just look at the way his supporters have acted during this primary season – they most DEFINITELY have engaged in illegal activity. And Obama himself, the “Constitutional Scholar” said it was FAIR for him to be given delegates and votes made by MI voters for Clinton! Never mind the part abt him not being on the ballot – he said it was FAIR that HE got HER votes!! Huh??????

Thanks for the great post, though – very informative!!

In Missouri, the voter fraud case was tied to at least one campaign, the senate campaign of Claire McCaskill.

If you mean by this that Claire McCaskill was assisted by ACORN, it might explain her cozyness with Obama. Birds of a feather.

As kat in your hat said above, this is an extremely important area for the GOP to attack. If they do not go to school on this and attack this group of out-and-out punks and criminals both legally and on the PR front, then Obama might be able to register enough dead people to open up heretofore ‘closed’ states. The importance of shutting down these miscreants cannot be overstated for the coming election.

Demi – Give it a rest. You are in the ‘doth protest too much’ crew. We know, cat’s out of the bag. It’s too late.

I agree with those who are having an epiphany about the caucuses and about the thuggish behavior (e.g., the booing of Hillary in NH, etc.) which has pervaded this entire campaign. The tactics are very familiar and the outlandishness of them fits the M.O. of this posse to a “T.” I do believe we have our culprits here.

The GOP needs to be fully appraised of this situation ASAP. Same with our superdelegates.

Sorry you feel this way because the issues of voter fraud is true. There is very factual information in many newspapers. Their fraud was so outrageous in Washington state they were fined $25,000…a mere pitance!

Huh??????

Good point of view amy! It is one that didn’t enter my mind. I think I am somewhat naive at times for one who sailed the seas and am 48 yrs old. I am NancyA by the way!

This is not BS. I will say it again they were fined $25,00 by the state of Washington. Charges were filed about fraudulent registering of homeless people in Mecklenburg County, NC. Missouri! Give it a rest! These are not Republican talking pints. I did the research and provided the references at the end of the article. Get over it!

This is an amazing piece. So well researched, you are something else.

I thought Barks had learned this junk from Markos, now I see that illegal voter registration, and disrupting events like the way they bused in people to boo Gov. Easley in NC is a long term thing with him.

Does everything about him stink to high heaven?

You’ve done amazing work here, thanks a lot for uncovering this subject!

Add to his list– his community organizing was as dirty as can be and involved a group convicted of numerous crimes including illegal voter registration.

Somebody tell Camp McCain.

ACORN drives companies like Costco from urban areas that actually need jobs.

By “like Costco” did you mean Costco specifically which — as big box stores go — is a pretty decent employer that pays living wages and benefits? Or did you really mean for us to conflate them with the likes of Wal-Mart which — aside from offering neither living wages nor benefits of any kind to the average worker — is known to destroy small, locally-owned businesses?

Their opposition to welfare reform tends to keep the people in poverty in these areas, while causing family breakdown.

Methinks I hear someone blowing a dog whistle. You forgot to included the part about the “Cadillac-driving, fur coat-wearing welfare queens” of which St. Ronald of Reagan so often warned us.

The worst of their tactics is the regulation of banks.

The poor, poor banks. They’ve certainly suffered under the yoke of unfair over-regulation of late, haven’t they? [Won't someone please think of the bankers?]

I’m sure the Office of the Controller of the Currency (OCC) and the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) will be shocked — shocked! — to discover they’ve ceded their regulatory authority to a covertly nefarious citizen’s group. (The citizen’s group evil-doers, as well, will likely be surprised to learn of this.)

They protest “predatory lending,” putting pressure on banks to make large donations to them to finance their “non-partisan motor voter drives.”

So . . . you’re in favor of predatory lending and opposed to voter registration drives. Wow.

Stern says that these tactics tend to be “undisguised authoritarian socialism.”

What tactics are you referring to? (Unless you’d care to take another crack at that “regulation of banks” part.) The weasel words “tend to be” are often misunderstood to mean “are proof of” . . . but you probably knew that.

Have you checked under your bed for crypto-Stalinist saboteurs yet tonight, Citizen? No? Well, then. We’ll be keeping our eye on you, too, from now on.

Sheesh. I though we’d outgrown wetting ourselves over The Red Menace — a Commie behind every lamp post — about twenty years ago.

January 14, 2007:

“[B]ack in Chicago, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is more important than Iraq or Washington. ACORN and its associated Midwest Academy, both founded in the 1970s, continue to train and mobilize activists throughout the country, often using them to manipulate public opinion through “direct action.” It’s sometimes a code for illegal activities.
Prior to law school, Barack Obama worked as an organizer for their affiliates in New York and Chicago. He always has been an ACORN person — meeting and working with them to advance their causes. Through his membership on the board of the Woods Fund for Chicago and his friendship with Teresa Heinz Kerry, Obama has helped ensure that they remain funded well.

Since he graduated from law school, Obama’s work with ACORN and the Midwest Academy has ranged from training and fundraising, to legal representation and promoting their work.”

Obama’s ACORN

In 2004, the Washington state Secretary of State described ACORN’s illegal activity as the “largest case of voter fraud in the state’s history”.

They were fined $25,000 and promised to instruct their paid canvassers on the state election requirements. In 2005, according to the complaint filed with Mecklenberg County, North Carolina, the voter fraud involved the registration of homeless people. ACORN agrees they break the law but said “no one told us”. In 2006, in Kansas City, MO, five low-level operatives were charged with voter fraud. Four pleaded guilty, with the fifth person released because it came out that an ACORN worker had stolen her identity

July 9, 2008 New York Times

$1 Million Embezzled at ACORN

Two prominent national nonprofit groups are reeling from public disclosures that large sums of money were misappropriated in unrelated incidents by an employee and a former employee.

The groups, Acorn, one of the country’s largest community organizing groups, and the Points of Light Institute, which works to encourage civic activism and volunteering, have dealt with the problems in very different ways.

Acorn chose to treat the embezzlement of nearly $1 million eight years ago as an internal matter and did not even notify its board. After Points of Light noticed financial irregularities in early June, it took less than a month for management to alert federal prosecutors, although group officials say they have no clear idea yet what the financial impact may be.

A whistle-blower forced Acorn to disclose the embezzlement, which involved the brother of the organization’s founder, Wade Rathke.

The brother, Dale Rathke, embezzled nearly $1 million from Acorn and affiliated charitable organizations in 1999 and 2000, Acorn officials said, but a small group of executives decided to keep the information from almost all of the group’s board members and not to alert law enforcement.

There has been a lot usage of the title “Community Organizer” in recent months due to the vetting of Barak Obama’s political resume. But, few people know what this title is intended to convey (or to hide). Syndicated radio talkshow host Mark Levin defined a community organizer as a Marxist agitator. That pretty much sums it up.
Saul Alinsky was the epitome of a community organizer. He organized unions in the stockyards and factories of Chicago in the 1930’s as described in Upton Sinclair’s novel The Jungle. Marxist class-warfare and redistribution of wealth were simply tools for Alinsky and others who were trying to bring socialist totalitarianism to the United States, and who felt that mainstream liberalism was “too passive and ineffective”.
Saul Alinsky wrote the following in his last book Rules for Radicals: “There’s another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevsky said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system, among not only the middle class but the 40 per cent of American families – more than seventy million people – whose income range from $5,000 to $10,000 a year [in 1971]. They cannot be dismissed by labeling them blue collar or hard hat. They will not continue to be relatively passive and slightly challenging. If we fail to communicate with them, if we don’t encourage them to form alliances with us, they will move to the right. Maybe they will anyway, but let’s not let it happen by default..”
Although Barak Obama has yet to inform anyone who he supposedly organized, at least now you know what he means by the term (or what he means to hide).

As far as I can see, the ACORN group is another offshoot of the Fabian Society, similar to the “Common Purpose” organisation that has spread its’ tentacles throughout the business and governmental organisations of Great Britain. Similar groups now exist throughout the countries of the European Union, all dedicated to the end goal of “Global Government” under the control of self-proclaimed intelligentsia … a dangerous group.

Note that Bill Clinton, and most other ex-Rhodes and Fullbright scholars are all members of the parent Fabian Society.

Comment by Rob Diego | 2008-10-01 04:54:34

The Soul of ACORN
When you rationalize the meaning and intent of political action by using altruism as justification, originally you start with the idea of helping innocent victims – this leads you early on, to do more and more to fool the “system” since you have identified the “system” as the obstacle to achieving your altruistic goals. This puts you on a slippery slope and eventually leads to more and more overt ways of challenging the system until you confront directly the morality of self-interest which you must turn into your enemy. You do this by reversing the role of self-interest in the life of the capitalist and turning it into survival by any means for the capitalist. This is accomplished through threat of physical harm, threat of exposure to the public, making irrational demands and extorting donations in return for “peace.” The capitalist, confronted by demands to sacrifice his profits for the sake of the “good”, can only capitulate to the take over because the society no longer protects his right to property or self-interest. So what Obama did and said years ago to justify his organizing work on behalf of the poor, has today become a Presidential campaign based on the very same premises, methods and stated goals…but now supported by a shakedown scheme and a racketeering scheme that violates the law or attempts to change the law so that it can function. This is ACORN. What began as a supposed ideal becomes a criminal gang making millions through extortion and racketeering…with the same “goals,” the same “ideals,” all supported now by the power that the gang has acquired and broadcast using mass media paid for by extorted dollars. The gang is better now at doing the shakedown and have made billions of dollars that they spend training more people. Ayn Rand would say, rightly, that the basic motivation of altruism is not to help the poor but to destroy the rich and successful. As we can see, that is exactly what ACORN has accomplished.

America will become a country nobody will want to live in. Wake up! Watch his eyes. He is already appearing as if he is IN CONTROL. If he gets in, we will have a third world country and we will see the beginning of the end. I also predict that A CARD will be issued to everyone, and we are quickly going toward 666 aka Mark of the Beast. Obama is a beast, plain and simple. Anyone with that mark has no chance of seeing Heaven. I have a wonderful dad and grandmother in Heaven, and i plan to see them. I will starve first. Our entire government is against the american people, it always has been. Our leaders are in it for themselves and always have been. That’s why our economy is the way it is, and our laws are so messed up. If anything, you all are brain washed by the society that ya’ll have been exposed to for your entire lives. It is time for a change!Don’t be afraid of it, it just might, just might, make your lives better.

If you think that Obama is the change we need, you are out of your mind. He is part of the problem that has infected our country. Back in 2005, Obama said that the subprime market was ok and that it should not be touched. What did he do, he voted against the bill that McCain introduced to reform Freddie and Fannie. ACORN, when Obama was with them, pressured banks to lend money to those that could not afford a mortgage. How can we trust Obama to lead America when he was part of the problem. How is it that Obama was the second biggest receiver of campaign contributions from Freddie and Fannie if he was a senator for two years. Chris Dodd was the first and he has been in office way longer then Obama. Could it be that it was his involvement with ACORN? ACORN had it dirty paws in Freddie and Fannie. Is this a Coincidence? I think not. Obama learned Saul Alinsky very well. Look up Saul Alinsky and you will understand about changing things from within.

I see both parties trying to improve the lives of Americans. The difference is that the Dems want to level the playing field by picking the pockets of others(not their own of course) and giving it to those that have done nothing but make bad decisions in their lives. The Republicans want to lift up the lives by saying bust your ass and you will reap the rewards of your hard work.
Our country was made so great by Americans busting their butts to make something for themselves and their families. It is now being destroyed by the socialist agenda.
I wouldn’t be suprised if the recent crash was orchestrated throug Obamas think tank, because one way to get him in would be for the economy to fail.
Hitler used the Jews just like the left attacks the rich and was able to rally people in a very short time. People don’t think this could ever happen in America, but when the economy is bad and people are hungry and losing their homes they will sell out their freedom, because they don’t seem to understand the long term effects.
So crush the economy and knock the middle class out into poverty and then you will have 90% of the country enraged and ready to ditch capitalism for the promise of security. When they wake up one day and the gov’t is telling them what job they can do,how much they will get paid and that half of Mexico and the other South American countries are now going to be allowed in to work, it will be way too late to fight back.
If Obama wins the cancer within America will only spread. The tumor needs to be cut out now or America will die a nasty death.

Show me a poor Democrat and I will show you one that knows how the people feel. Show me one that takes no tax write-offs and I will show you one that believes in higher taxes for everyone.
Also, if you think we should pay more taxes then fine, pony up the cash, but don’t expect others to do so. If you think illegals should be here then house a few yourself and pay for their health care and school too. Just be careful they tend to murder and rape and kill by DUI quite often. (Of course the Reublicans are weal on immigration too) so its time to clean house and get rid of as many as we can.

McCain will not be getting my vote. I voted for Bush twice, and will not make the same mistake three times in a row. McCain offers nothing but more of the same that we have been dealt for the last 8 years. NO MORE!
And don’t even get me started on Palin.
WTF was he thinking?

Hey, James!

You’re right about one thing, Dude!

Obama will definitely be bringing you some CHANGE!

Think about the meaning behind these words in about 2 years, okay?

Think about the fact that MANY democrats express their opinions on this site. In fact, I was a “left-of-left” democrat up until 3 weeks ago when I de-registered myself from the party and became a “decline-to-state”!

And I even live in California, too! Gosh! Imagine that!

Take my advice: do what you can to become a better informed voter. Many of you Obama supporters definitely need intensive work in this area.

Good luck to you. I feel for ‘ya!

Here’s the deal, folks. Obama IS a fraud and a con artist. He misrepresents himself each time he opens his mouth. Then, he goes and misrepresents himself even more when one of his thousands of lies accidentally slips through the tanked media filter.

Simply stated: I don’t vote for criminals. It has nothing to do with democratic ideals or republican ideals. It has to do with integrity & honesty.

To me – Obama has lied more than I ever thought possible. How could any sane person vote for anyone who is willing to stoop this low?

More importantly – what does this say about those people that actually do support Obama?

Not too much, I’m afraid to say.

Certainly these people lack principles, integrity & self-esteem. Just like Obama, you might say. Obama – the “man” that knew he couldn’t win without cheating to win.

Obama. The wimp of a guy who files lawsuits “alleging” voter fraud whenever anyone gets close to learning that HE, himself, is the chief instigator of all the voter fraud. You know: the old “falsely-blame-them-for-the-things-that-you-actually-do” silencing act.

Ah, yes. Obama. How in the world could we ever have respect for such a person – a person who lies, cheats & steals because he cannot win any election honestly. Despicable.

Obama. The guy who spends all of his time distancing himself from his numerous poor choices – choices that he continues to make!

Doesn’t Obama know how to do anything other than lie, lie LIE?

‘Fraid not, Folks!

Wow, people here ar workin those talking points and that’s a pretty sad commentary on society.
I just love how McCain is running behind and instead of telling people what he can do for our country he and his supporters are focused on any possible negative connection Obama may have.
Acorn’s problem is that it pays people to register voters and gives them quotas, of course there are going to people registering fake voters to get paid. There is no “voter” fraud until those fake people attempt to vote. What is being ignored is the fact that ACORN officials flagged the high number of questionable registrations leading to further investigation of these fake registrations.
Now linking these problems to Obama is just another Republican tactic to smear him, plain and simple. ACORN is one of those organizations that is set up to help the poor, Obama defended them years ago in a legitimate case helping them, help people vote. He also used their service in the primary. Thats what they are there for, why not?
People need to wake up stop wasting time with these conspiracy theories. Our Economy is in the toilet, we are in a never ending war which we started under false pre-tenses (with no real end in sight, costing US billions) and the middle class is disappearing. Do you know what other country has no middle class? Mexico.
It’s time for CHANGE, the Republicans held the presidency long enough and their and tactics are not working. And… don’t tell me McCain is different from them, he is not going to go in there and be against them. He has supported G. W. Bush 90% of the time. And, for his biggest and most important appointement of his career, he bypassed a strong business man, Mitt Romney, or Crist, even Colin Powell. No, he chose Sarah Palin. John McCain proved it is more important for him to win an election then to protect our country.

MY BIGGEST CONCERN ON OBAMA WINNING THIS ELECTION WOULD BE THE COINCIDENCE OF HIS NAME AND HIS VP BIDEN.THE SEPT 11 ATTACKS HAPPENED TO BE ON OUR EMERGENCY # 9 11 . WAS THAT A COINCIDENCE OR SLOWLY MASTERMINDED BY OSAMA BIN LADEN TO LAUGH AT OUR COUNTRY.IT LOOKS LIKE HE WAS PATIENT TO ESTABLISH HIS SOLDIERS WHERE HE NEEDED THEM TO PLAN THE ATTACK AND LEAVE HIS SIGNATURE 911. NOW WE HAVE A UP COMING ELECTION FOR A FUTURE PRESIDENT NAMED OBAMA BARACK .WITH HIS VP NAMED BIDEN . COINCIDENCE AGAIN OR ANOTHER MASTERMIND LEAVING HIS SIGNATURE ONCE AGAIN.
OBAMA = OSAMA = MOST WANTED

BARACK = BARRACKS =A BUILDING OR GROUP BUILDINGS FOR SOLDIERS TO LIVE IN.

BIDEN = BEN LADEN= BY BEN LADEN

I think if you are going to vote for someone based on their name, you have also offically stated your low intelligence level. Obama and McCain are two great canidates and you should not be afraid if either one of them takes office.

Comment by Ray | 2008-10-17 17:18:52

The problem is, I am worried and slightly scared of Obama taking office. Like most democrats he seems to lack understanding of one key thing. You can’t be against business and for people. People are what make up the businesses. By taxing them, you are taxing people. Most of the money either comes out of the worker’s paychecks, or the consumer’s wallet.

A certain amount of profit must be maintained by businesses in order for them to grow. As they grow, they create more jobs. More jobs = good. Stifling their growth only leads to less new jobs.

A part of the reason America’s unemployment is so much less than Europe’s is because of it’s incentive for taking the risk of starting up a new business. The potential pay-off of all that hard work (and if you think small business owners don’t work hard, you’re crazy) and high risk investment in something that could potentially fail and leave you with almost nothing. If the payoff isn’t worth the risk, why would you do it?

And no, I don’t agree with all of McCain’s policies either. But his have me a lot less worried than Obama’s.

Not to mention I dislike his ties to these radical groups and individuals. As others have said, how do you belong to a church for 20 years, and not realize that the pastor who is supposedly a close friend and adviser, believes that white America caused aids to kill the black men and created crack cocaine just to arrest them. Not to mention his church seems to rather like Farrakhan. Oh yeah, and his ‘good friend’ Ayers who admits to being a part of a group that wanted to bomb the pentagon and such. He, as well as other democrats, wanted to have profits made off of taxpayer money go to groups such as ACORN committing voting fraud (but, only those who do it for them). Yeah. We have no reason to be afraid or worried.

It is good to read both sides of the pro and con arguments about Senator Obama.

I just wish everyone would take the time to read both sides. We live in a country the stands for freedom around the world and because of where we live we have more freedom than any other place on earth. So much that Americans take it for granted thinking that they can never loose it.

It is our freedom that also makes us so compassionate for others that lack what we have. It is this great compassion that has blinded so many Americans. Our fathers work/faught and die for what most of us take for granted. Yet now that we are about to elected the next President many Americans simply stick to their party/race/gender/etc affiliations rather than truly reading both sides to form their own understanding of the truth.

It seems so weak to not question both candidates background more. We are all creatures of our background. It has been said that you can understand anyone by first understanding their background “We are what we were when”. This simply means that if you were a child of the great depression, you would value saving much much more that someone raise in the “Dot Com” 1990`s or if you spent all your time growing up around conservaive or ratical people, you yourself became the same, or if you lost your freedom for some length of time you would value it even more when you got it back, it back.

To believe this is not true about either candidate is very dangerous for the America we all know today. It seems to me that it is even more dangerous when the candidates pretend to be who they are not.

I urge all voters to read both sides of the story and then votes based on the persons background and not who they claim to be or what the promise.

Maybe you voted for Bush because you sure seem like a fool. The country is on the brink of economic collapse, people are losing their retirements, and you are for the REPUBLICANS who caused the problem. Just like Herbert Hoover. Get smart and stop voting against your self interests.

Tom,
How in the world can you be no out of touch? The Republicans, under Bush, gave us the biggest tax cut in history, which stimulated our economy very much. For 6 years, we have a robust economy. Just check the performance of the stock market during that period. Or check the unemployment figures and number of jobs created. Or check the housing sales and low inflation and low interest rates we all enjoyed for 6 years. And that was in spite of a terrorist attack on our country that cost tens of billions of dollars in damages and almost ruined our airline industry and did tremendous damage otherwise. And it was in spite of having to fight a war that would have been much easier and less costly had it not been for the Democrats in Congress and the liberal media doing everything possible to mess it up, to cause us to lose, for political purposes!
Then, along came a Democrat Congress, 2 years ago. And everything began to unravel. Check it out for yourself. It was the Democrats who opposed regulating the financial industries – including Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, that collapsed, causing this economic disaster. It was the Republicans who tried as hard as they could to REGULATE and rein in this mess that they saw developing. It was OBAMA and his pals in Congress who brought this about. Two of the leaders of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae – both of whom ruined their companies and then walked away with MILLIONS in severance pay, are OBAMA economic advisors! And those two companies were giving tens of millions of dollars in campaign contributions to the very Democrats who are now blaming the mess on George Bush. The person who received the second most in contributions from them was none other than the socialist BARRACK HUSSEINE OBAMA. Can you connect the dots, Tom?
And this is nothing new for the socialist/communist Democrat leaders. They are quite adept at doing things that result in huge amounts of money for themselves, messing things up, and then blaming it on the Republicans.
The ONLY way to fix our economy and avoid a major DEPRESSION is to vote the criminal Democrats our of office and make sure the Communist/Muslim OBAMA is not elected. And please do not tell me that he really isn’t a Muslim. Stop listening to the liberal media, who want him elected and have a long track record of being dishonest and check it out for yourself.

George HW Bush calls the american people “budsters”, which stands for “broke, useless and depressed.”

George W. Bush called our constitution “nothing but a god damned piece of paper:.

This was a quote out of our previous presidents mouths! So how you can vote for either or these dirty, slimy, self centered bastards is beyond me.

Acorn is a corrupt, crooked, racist organization that Barry Soetoro Hussein is up to his neck involved in. The people who work there are takers and not Americans. Acorn should be banned from America. They should be prosecuted for their wrongdoing. How can the people, I mean the good people put up with a group such as Acorn? Joe Wilson is not a racist. If Barry Obama thinks that was bad, wait until he sees what is in store for him when more AMERICANS get who he really is. The person you call president is a fraud and imposter and in my mind, not American. Boy it’s nice to be able to still voice my opinion. Be careful though, because by the time this clown gets through, if he has his way, we won’t have a say in anything. I don’t think there is any question he will fail. I hope so.
