They were proud citizens of the US, whose children fought bravely during WWII, many of whom lost their lives. They came home to find that their land and businesses were gone and faced horrible prejudice. They couldn't get jobs and they couldn't get loans, even though many of them were awarded medals for bravery during the war. It took many years of hard work to prove their patriotism and I am proud to say that they are upstanding members of their community. I can't believe that Ybarra, knowing full well the extent of the large, close-knit Japanese American community in the Sacramento area, would make a statement about being hauled off to concentration camps in the middle of the night.
